Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe.

Ripley vs. Belair Reportedly Discussed for WrestleMania

Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair haven’t competed in a singles bout since 2022—in a gauntlet match no less—but they may not be avoiding one another for much longer.

Fightful Select (via Steve Carrier of Ringside News) reported that WWE officials have discussed staging Ripley vs. Belair at WrestleMania 41 in April.

Ripley reclaimed the Women’s World Championship on Raw’s Netflix premiere by beating Liv Morgan. She then successfully defended the gold against Nia Jax to open the most recent Saturday Night’s Main Event special.

Even assuming Ripley still has any unfinished business with Morgan, WWE is setting the table for her to pivot to a fresh storyline in time for WrestleMania.

Belair would present one such scenario for the champion and also be somebody with whom she has some shared history. They crossed paths in NXT and battled at NXT TakeOver: Portland in 2020.

Ripley told Sportskeeda’s Bill Apter last August she’d like to challenge Belair again and that their encounter would be “WrestleMania-worthy.”

The champ just might get her wish.

    Latest on Graves’ WWE Contract

Veteran announcer Corey Graves “wasn’t looking to leave the company” when he publicly vented about his demotion from the Raw broadcast team in a since-deleted post on social media, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter‘s Dave Meltzer (via Carrier).

Meltzer reported Graves still has two years remaining on his current deal with WWE.

With Raw moving to Netflix, WWE decided to pair Pat McAfee with Michael Cole at the broadcast table, while Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett pivoted from the company’s flagship program to SmackDown.

As a result of the reshuffle, Graves wound up back in NXT and he didn’t sound too thrilled. Seemingly alluding to McAfee in a Jan. 13 post, he lamented “being told you’re not famous enough for your own job.”

Graves didn’t call the Jan. 14 edition of NXT and WWE chose to have Barrett rather than him replace McAfee for Raw on Jan. 20. McAfee was unavailable due to his ESPN duties for college football’s national championship game.

Graves returned to NXT this week. Colleague Vic Joseph advised fans not to adjust their television sets because “this isn’t AI” while pointing to the retired wrestler. Graves, for his part, said he’s “right where I want to be.”

Hendry Discusses Possible Royal Rumble Match Appearance

WWE always includes some surprise appearances during the Royal Rumble match.

Those spots used to be reserved for returning legends or active stars who have been out of action for a while. The company’s partnership with TNA Wrestling, which was formalized this month, opened the door for other possibilities. Mickie James showed up in 2022 and brought the Impact women’s title with her.

Especially with the TNA deal in place, a lot of fans are hopeful that Joe Hendry will compete in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match.

Asked about the idea during an interview on the DeLoco Podcast (via Fightful’s Corey Brennan), Hendry expressed his desire to make it a reality.

“Anywhere, anytime, any show is what I said to Shawn Michaels when I debuted in NXT, that’s the first thing I said when I came back through the curtain and look at all the exciting things that it led to,” he said. “That obviously would be a huge honor and a privilege and something that’s synonymous with our business.”

Hendry also described himself as “a soldier for TNA Wrestling” who “will do is do what TNA Wrestling asks me to do.”

Speculation over the 36-year-old’s only grew last week when he announced an upcoming appearance at Wrestlecon Indianapolis, which runs Friday and Saturday. Royal Rumble takes place Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Perhaps that’s merely a coincidence, but fans will believe there’s much more to it than that.

  • Wade Barrett Set To Replace Pat McAfee On WWE Raw Commentary Amidst Corey Graves Drama

Wade Barrett will fill in for Pat McAfee on commentary during Monday’s “WWE Raw.” It was confirmed earlier this week that McAfee would be unavailable for the show as he would be working the College Football Championship. Typically, Corey Graves would have been considered a forerunner to stand in for McAfee, but after he recently took issue with his moving to “WWE NXT” he was reportedly sent home ahead of this week’s show and has yet to have been used by WWE in the meantime. As such, it was announced during Friday’s “WWE SmackDown” that Barrett will be filling the role on Monday, returning to the red brand’s booth for the first time since moving last year.

It was reported after Graves’ single appearance on “NXT” that he was legitimately dissatisfied with being moved to the brand, which appeared to present itself during the broadcast itself between himself and Booker T. He was returning to the brand where he started his commentary journey — after hanging up his boots — and having since commentated for both “Raw” and “SmackDown” from 2016 onwards. Graves reportedly re-signed with the company in January 2024, believed to run at least for the next few years.

According to recent reports, former WWE superstar Wade Barrett is set to replace Pat McAfee on WWE Raw commentary amidst the drama surrounding Corey Graves.

It was announced that Barrett will be stepping in as the new commentator on the Raw broadcast team, filling the void left by McAfee who is reportedly taking a break from his commentary duties.

This news comes amidst rumors of tension between Graves and McAfee, with reports suggesting that the two have been at odds behind the scenes.

Barrett, who previously worked as a commentator on NXT, has received praise for his work on the mic and is seen as a strong addition to the Raw commentary team.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Barrett’s debut on Raw and are curious to see how he will shake up the dynamic on commentary.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Pat McAfee WWE Raw Replacement Announced Amidst Corey Graves Controversy

Wade Barrett will be on commentary to replace Pat McAfee for the next episode of Raw.

Pat McAfee is set to miss the next episode of WWE Raw to call the College Football National Championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame. This means there’s a slot on commentary that needs filling, but with the recent Corey Graves controversy still very much unresolved, WWE have instead turned to Wade Barrett.

The former King of the Ring will replace McAfee on commentary on the January 20th episode of WWE Raw, calling the action alongside Michael Cole. Earlier this month, Barrett teamed with Joe Tessitore on the commentary desk for the first time on WWE SmackDown.

The Corey Graves controversy began earlier this month, when Graves took to social media on January 13th to air frustrations about being moved to NXT. Graves hinted at being “not famous enough” to do the job he’d worked so hard at since being forced to retire due to concussion issues. Despite promising he had “a lot to say” on the January 14th broadcast of NXT, Graves was pulled from the show following his complaints, and all reports indicate the tension between himself and WWE is legitimate.

According to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Radio, some WWE personnel believe Graves was intentionally looking to get let go following the posts. Meltzer concluded, “they probably aren’t gonna fire him, because I don’t think they want him going to AEW if they give him a release”.

Jim Ross Gives Thoughts On Corey Graves WWE Controversy, Pat McAfee’s Role

The news of the Corey Graves controversy had many figures throughout the wrestling world weighing in on the situation. The latest to do so is legendary broadcaster Jim Ross, who gave his thoughts on his podcast.

In the wake of Corey Graves’ controversial comments, WWE has announced that former NFL player and current sports personality Pat McAfee will be stepping in as a guest commentator for Monday Night Raw.

Graves came under fire recently for his remarks about WWE superstar Carmella, prompting backlash from fans and fellow wrestlers alike. In light of the backlash, WWE has decided to bring in McAfee to provide a fresh perspective and inject some new energy into the commentary team.

McAfee, who is known for his charismatic personality and quick wit, has already proven himself as a capable commentator during his time with WWE NXT. Fans can expect McAfee to bring his signature humor and enthusiasm to the Raw commentary booth, providing a lively and engaging broadcast experience.

While Graves’ future with WWE remains uncertain, McAfee’s addition to the Raw commentary team is sure to shake things up and bring a new dynamic to the show. Tune in to Monday Night Raw to see McAfee make his debut as a guest commentator and see how he stacks up against the competition.

  • Tiffany Stratton Babyface Turn Update, Latest On Jade Cargill’s Return, Corey Graves’ Future

WWE star Jade Cargill continues to train at the Performance Center in Orlando, FL. in anticipation of her upcoming WWE return. She has been working throughout the week, with today marking her final day of training before resuming sessions next week.

Corey Graves made a surprise appearance at the WWE NXT New Year’s Evil show this week and is now no longer part of the WWE SmackDown commentary team. Graves will return to WWE NXT next week on The CW Network alongside Vic Joseph and Booker T. The new WWE SmackDown commentary team will simply be the old WWE Raw duo of Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett.

Despite her apparent face turn last week, where she won the WWE Women’s Championship to an overwhelmingly positive crowd reaction after finally cashing in her Money In The Bank briefcase, Tiffany Stratton is still listed as a heel on WWE’s internal roster. Whether they intend to keep her a heel going forward remains to be seen.

Supervised Sequence Labelling with Recurrent Neural Networks by Alex Graves (Eng)

In this post, we will be discussing the groundbreaking work of Alex Graves on supervised sequence labelling with recurrent neural networks. Alex Graves is a renowned researcher in the field of machine learning and deep learning, and his work on using recurrent neural networks for sequence labelling tasks has had a significant impact on the field.

In his paper, Graves explores the use of recurrent neural networks (RNNs) for supervised sequence labelling tasks, such as speech recognition and handwriting recognition. RNNs are a type of neural network that has the ability to capture temporal dependencies in data, making them particularly well-suited for tasks where the input data is sequential in nature.

One of the key contributions of Graves’ work is the development of the Connectionist Temporal Classification (CTC) loss function, which allows RNNs to be trained end-to-end for sequence labelling tasks without the need for aligning the input and output sequences. This has greatly simplified the training process for RNNs and has made them much more effective for sequence labelling tasks.

Overall, Alex Graves’ work on supervised sequence labelling with recurrent neural networks has significantly advanced the state-of-the-art in the field and has paved the way for further research in this area. His insights and contributions have had a lasting impact on the field of deep learning, and his work continues to inspire researchers and practitioners alike.
