Gretchen Rossi is ready to return to The Real Housewives of Orange County.

A source close to production confirmed to Us Weekly on Wednesday, January 29, that Rossi, 46, will appear as a “friend” of the cast for season 19. (Variety was first to report the news.)

Rossi is expected to join returning Housewives Emily Simpson, Katie Ginella, Jennifer Pedranti, Tamra Judge, Shannon Beador, Heather Dubrow and Gina Kirschenheiter when filming begins this week.

Former “friend” of the show Alexis Bellino — like Rossi, a former OC Housewife who returned after many years away — previously confirmed she would not be returning for season 19.

“I was not asked back next season,” she shared on a December 2024 episode of iHeartRadio’s “Going Rogue” podcast. “I can’t say it came as a shock, it did not come as a shock. It was a hard conversation. … I guess I wasn’t really prepared [because] I didn’t think contracts were coming out — like, I thought we had more time. … [So] it was a shock when the call came, but I was never shocked about that information.”

Fans met Rossi when she joined RHOC for season 4. At the time, she was engaged to Jeff Beitzel. By the time the season premiered in November 2008, Beitzel had died at age 54.

Rossi went on to fall in love with original RHOC castmember Slade Smiley. During season 8, which aired in 2013, Rossi proposed with help from a helicopter. She would exit the show soon after.

Although they never got married, the couple recently celebrated their 16th anniversary and have a daughter named Skylar Gray, 5.

Before rejoining RHOC, Rossi developed some bonds with some of the current Housewives. Earlier this month, Ginella, 40, shared a glimpse into her friendship with Rossi.

“When you join the cast, you hear about ex cast members, but I really just wanted to give what I get,” Ginella exclusively told Us at a Let’s Help LA fundraiser benefiting Emergency Network LA. “I met Gretchen, and she’s a lovely woman. We’ve become really good friends. Jenn and I hang out with her all the time. I love Gretchen.”

One person, however, who isn’t close to Rossi is Judge, 57. The two feuded over several seasons with Judge accusing her costar of being a “golddigger” while dating Beitzel. Judge also infamously tried to get Rossi “naked wasted” at a party.

Shannon Beador is clearing the air about her The Real Housewives of Orange County costar Alexis Bellino’s departure from the show. “I have zero power with the network or production or anyone, and I would never want to interfere with someone’s livelihood,” Shannon, 60, exclusively told Us Weekly at her and Katie Ginella’s Let’s Help […]

In October 2024, Rossi confirmed she was still not on good terms with her former costar.

“I think it’s sad that she’s been getting away with harming so many people for years now,” she wrote via her Instagram Story. “In my experience, she makes up horrible lies about people with no remorse of how it affects their actual lives.”

The Real Housewives of Orange County season 19 premiere date has yet to be announced. Fans can catch up on past seasons now via Peacock.

  • Gretchen Rossi Set for ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ Season 19

After its well-received, highly rated 18th season on Bravo, which concluded in November, “The Real Housewives of Orange County” will once again add Gretchen Rossi to its ranks — she will appear as a “friend” of the cast. Production on the show’s 19th season began this week, with the entire cast returning, except for former “friend” Alexis Bellino.

Rossi joined the cast of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” — the OG series that kicked of Bravo’s “Real Housewives” franchise — in Season 4, which premiered in November 2008. At the time of filming her first season, Rossi was engaged to Jeff Beitzel, an older man of means, and there were those in the cast who painted her as a golddigger (who “went to Bass Lake!”). By the time the season premiered, Beitzel had died.

Soon afterward, in Season 5, Rossi and Slade Smiley — sort of an original cast member, in that he’d been the fiancé of Jo De La Rosa, who was on the show’s first and second seasons — got together. Their relationship was also a source of controversy among the cast, since Smiley was known for inserting himself into storylines, and, once again, there were those who questioned the authenticity of their relationship.

However, in the show’s eighth season Rossi — her final one as a series regular, as it would turn out — delivered an elaborate proposal to Smiley, and he said yes. Rossi and Smiley are still together, recently celebrated their 16th anniversary, and have a daughter, Skylar Gray Smiley, who was born in July 2019. They never did get married.

Rossi was let go after the show’s eighth season — the perception had grown among the audience that her stories had become increasingly staged and inorganic. But she’s stayed within the Bravo firmament: She appeared as a guest in Season 12 of “RHOC.” And she was a cast member in the likely doomed “Morocco” season of Peacock’s “Ultimate Girls Trip,” which was filmed in January 2023. That installment of “Ultimate Girls Trip” has been disappeared due to Caroline Manzo suing Bravo and NBCUniversal in January 2024, alleging she had been sexually harassed and assaulted by her castmate Brandi Glanville. So Rossi’s turn in that show will probably never be shown — but now, viewers will see her in action later this year on “RHOC.”

In addition to Tamra Judge — who clashed with Rossi often during their time on the show together — Rossi will join returning cast members Shannon Storms Beador, Heather Dubrow, Jennifer Pedranti, Katie Ginella, Gina Kirschenheiter and Emily Simpson for Season 19.

Only Bellino will not return. The one-time full-time cast member, who for Season 18 came back as a “friend” and antagonist of castmate Beador, was not invited back for this season. Thoughout Season 18, Bellino irritated nearly everyone, even her close ally Judge, and in the end, Bellino was shown the door.

Gretchen Rossi Set for ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ Season 19

Fans of the hit reality TV series, “Real Housewives of Orange County,” are in for a treat as it has been confirmed that fan-favorite housewife Gretchen Rossi will be returning for the upcoming 19th season.

Rossi, who last appeared on the show in Season 8, has remained a popular figure among viewers and her return is sure to bring some much-needed drama and excitement to the show.

Known for her glamorous lifestyle, fiery personality, and unforgettable feuds with fellow housewives, Rossi is sure to shake things up and bring a new dynamic to the already explosive cast.

With filming set to begin soon, fans can expect to see Rossi back in action, stirring up trouble and keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

  • Who’s vying to replace Gretchen Whitmer as governor in 2026?

Several high-profile politicians have declared their candidacy to lead the state.

LANSING, Mich. — The next Michigan gubernatorial election will take place on Nov. 3, 2026. It will be one of five Democratic-held governor positions up for election in 2026 in a state won by President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Several high-profile Michigan politicians are vying for the position, as current Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer comes to the end of her second term in the seat. Michigan law states that a governor is limited to serving two terms in office.

Candidates for the gubernatorial election have begun declaring their intent to run. Here’s a list of who Michiganders could see on the ballot.

Jocelyn Benson (D) | Michigan Secretary of State, 2019 – present

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson officially declared her candidacy for the governors seat Wednesday. Benson, who has been Michigan’s Secretary of State since 2019, oversaw the 2020 and 2022 general elections, which saw record-breaking turnouts for Michigan voters.

Prior to her time in Office, Benson served as the dean of Wayne State University Law School. At the age of 35, she was named the youngest woman in America to serve in the position at an accredited law school.

    Aric Nesbitt (R) | State Senator of Michigan’s 20th District, 2019-present

Sen. Aric Nesbitt, who represents Michigan’s 20th Congressional District, was elected into office in 2019. In 2023, Nesbitt was named the Michigan Senate’s Minority Leader. He declared his candidacy for the governor position earlier this month.

Nesbitt grew up on a dairy farm in Lawton, Mich. He attended Hiillsdale College, and later received the college’s “Distinguished Alumnus” award for his work on conservative reforms in Michigan.

Mike Duggan (I) | Mayor of Detroit, 2014 – present

Mike Duggan was elected as Detroit’s mayor in 2013, making him the second longest serving mayor in Detroit’s history. Duggan credits himself with emphasizes much of the revitalization efforts Detroit has seen over the past decade.

Duggan was  a prosecutor in Wayne County prior to his time in office.

Before filing as an Independent, Duggan was a registered Democrat. Duggan was the first politician to declare his candidacy for the governor’s position back in December of 2024.

As the 2026 gubernatorial election approaches, speculation is already swirling around who will be vying to replace current Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. With Whitmer unable to run for a third consecutive term due to term limits, several prominent politicians have already been rumored to be considering a run for the state’s highest office.

One potential candidate is Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, who has been a high-profile figure in Michigan politics for years. Duggan’s leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and his success in revitalizing Detroit’s economy have garnered him widespread praise and could make him a formidable candidate in the gubernatorial race.

Another possible contender is Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who has made headlines for her legal battles against former President Donald Trump and her advocacy for LGBTQ rights. Nessel’s progressive stances on issues like healthcare and criminal justice reform could appeal to a broad base of voters in the state.

Other names that have been floated as potential candidates include Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, former state Senator Gretchen Whitmer, and businessman Dan Gilbert. With the race still more than a year away, it’s likely that more candidates will emerge as potential challengers to Whitmer’s successor.

As the 2026 election draws closer, Michigan residents will undoubtedly be watching closely to see who will ultimately emerge as the frontrunner in the race to become the state’s next governor. Stay tuned for updates and analysis on this hotly contested race.

  • What Makes Gretchen Walsh’s Budapest Performance So Impressive?

What Makes Gretchen Walsh’s Budapest Performance So Impressive?

Gretchen Walsh has been making noise since the beginning of the 2024 swimming season. In yard-pool, taking full advantage of her flexibility and using her underwater dolphin kickouts at the 2024 NCAA championships, she claimed seven titles while breaking records in four events. Shortly after, came the US Olympic trials. Walsh, who failed to make it to the 2021 Olympics and 2022 World Championships, overcame her fear of a previous few long-course swims. Tweaking her technique to add the extra length and strength she needed in her strokes.

Proving to everyone that she is more than just “a bathtub swimmer,” Walsh joined Team U.S.A. in Paris, qualifying for 50 free, 100 fly (with a new LCM world record of 55.18), and 4×100 relay at the trials. At her debut Olympics, the 21-year-old swimmer’s “dream” came true, winning an Olympic medal “for America.” As what seems a norm now, Walsh maintained her record-breaking manner and achieved two of her Olympic golds with records (mixed 4×100 medley relay (3:37.43), 4×100 medley relay (3:49.63), and two silver medals in individual events 100 fly (55.38, Olympic record) and 4×100 free relay, respectively.

After Paris, nothing changed. Walsh continued to break records in yard pools for college meets, but her best performance was yet to come. Walsh’s true swimming prowess was highlighted at 2024 Short-Course Championships in Budapest. Interestingly, months before the event in a lone 25-meter race dual meet against Florida, Walsh broke three American records and set a new world record in 100 IM, giving the fans an idea of what to expect in Budapest. But the swimmer exceeded everyone’s expectations and cemented herself as one of the most successful short-course swimmers at the championships.

ForbesMajor Records That Fell At The 2024 Short-Course Championships

She claimed the most number of wins at the 2024 Short-Course Championships. With 11 records and seven gold medals, the Virginia University senior made history to set the most records by one swimmer in a single meet. The previous record was held by two of the most successful athletes in the swimming world. Michael Phelps’ Olympic run of 2008 where he won 8 gold medals and registered 7 record-breaking wins, and Mark Spitz’s historic seven gold medals, all of which broke records at the 1972 Olympics.

Apart from the 100-meter freestyle gold, all of Walsh’s wins broke either one or multiple records. Walsh’s final result in Budapest included:

50-meter freestyle: gold (two world records)

100m freestyle: gold (second-, third-fastest times in history)

50-meter butterfly: gold (two world records)

100-meter butterfly: gold (three world records)

100-meter individual medley: gold (two world records)

4×100-meter freestyle relay: gold (one world record)

4×100-meter medley relay: gold (one world record)

Although Walsh had a successful breakout in the long-course pool in Paris, the 21-year-old’s short-course performances still remain unmatched. In the short-course, which is 60% underwater, Walsh, whose main strength lies in her speed, took full advantage of quick turns and created history. Walsh, who led the Virginia Cavaliers towards their fourth consecutive national title in the spring, has been a great NCAA swimmer. As the short-course pool is only slightly longer than the 25-yard pool, she was successful in carrying the momentum.

ForbesNew American And NCAA Record Set By Gretchen Walsh; What To Expect In Budapest

How Much Money Did Gretchen Walsh Make?

Interestingly, with these wins also came a large amount of money. As per the World Aquatics, every individual or relay record helps earn $25,000. Furthermore, swimmers also earn a bonus of $10,000 for a double crown, i.e., winning an entire event throughout all stops of the World Cup and World Championships.

With Walsh’s nine individual records at the Short-Course Championships, she claimed a staggering amount of $225,000. Additionally, her two relay record wins helped her win $6,250 from each. (the money is split between the participants of the relay.) As per the World Aquatics, Walsh is the fourth “highest-earning swimmer of 2024, based solely on prize money and performance bonuses at World Aquatics events,” claiming a total of $275,000.00.

Courtesy of Walsh, Regan Smith, Kate Douglass, and Luke Hobson’s record-altering performance, with a tally of 18 gold, 13 silver, and 8 bronze medals, Team U.S. also won the best team award.

Overall the 2024 season has been truly great for Walsh. From overcoming the fear of never achieving a win in a long-course pool to creating history in Paris and Budapest, she has maintained constant outings till the end of the year. Certainly the 25-meter wins are different than achieving podium finishes in 50-meter meets. Nonetheless, is Walsh currently the greatest swimmer in short-course? Definitely.

The big question is whether the swimmer will be able to maintain her momentum at the 2025 Worlds. Amid the competition from teammate Torri Huske and Swedish legend Sarah Sjostrom, the fans will be interested to see if Gretchen Walsh can again showcase her prowess in the 50-meter pools after her breakthrough in Paris.

Gretchen Walsh has been making waves in the swimming world with her incredible performance at the Budapest ISL meet. But what exactly makes her performance so impressive?

First and foremost, Walsh’s speed and technique in the water are unmatched. She has a powerful and efficient stroke that allows her to glide through the water effortlessly. Her turns are quick and precise, giving her an edge over her competitors in every race.

Additionally, Walsh’s mental toughness and determination are key factors in her success. She never backs down from a challenge and always gives her all in every race. This level of dedication and focus is what sets her apart from the rest of the competition.

But perhaps the most impressive aspect of Walsh’s performance in Budapest is her consistency. She has been able to maintain her high level of performance throughout the meet, winning race after race and setting new personal best times in the process.

Overall, Gretchen Walsh’s performance in Budapest is a testament to her incredible talent, hard work, and determination. She is truly a force to be reckoned with in the world of swimming and is sure to continue making waves in the sport for years to come.
