Scarlett Johansson Guns For Permanent ‘Today With Jenna & Friends’ Post On Second Day As Guest Host: “I Love This Job”
Is the search for Jenna Bush Hager’s new co-host already over? Scarlett Johansson seems to hope so.
The actress is killing it as co-host on Today With Jenna & Friends this week. Johansson returned to the daily broadcast Wednesday in good spirits, announcing that she had “the best time” on her first day as a morning talk show host Tuesday (Jan. 21).
“I went to bed last night and I was like, buzzing,” she told Bush Hager. “I was so excited, I like prepared everything for today… I love this job!”
Bush Hager said that she was “delighted” to have Johansson on the show. She spent most of the broadcast gushing over her new co-host, especially when they brought back some of the most popular segments Bush Hager used to do with Hoda Kotb when she was still on the show.
At one point on the episode, Bush Hager even announced that they should just change the show’s name to Today With Jenna & Scarlett.
“Now that you’re a morning television host, I mean, Jenna & Scarlett sounds good. We can just change it,” she said.
“I agree, let’s make it happen!” Johansson giddily responded.
It’s just Johansson’s second day on the job, but it looks like she’s made quite the mark on Bush Hager and NBC. By the end of Wednesday’s episode, Bush Hager announced that she needed a sharpie to scratch out “& Friends” from the show’s title.
Johansson will be guest hosting for the rest of the week. In fact, Thursday’s broadcast will be a family affair as Johansson and Bush Hager will be joined on the show by both of their twin siblings. Today has yet to announce who will be the next guest host to join Bush Hager once Johansson leaves.
While it’s been fun to see Bush Hager co-host with the likes of Keke Palmer and Eva Longoria, the Today host is still searching for a permanent co-host to replace Kotb, her partner in crime, who recently retired from daytime television. But Johansson certainly brings a sunny attitude and quick wit that matches Bush Hager’s hosting style. Could she be the one?
It might come down to a matter of money. At one point on today’s show, Johansson’s husband, Saturday Night Live cast member Colin Jost, joined the duo for a playful debate during which Bush Hager had to rule in favor of Jost. “Scarlett, please do the show with me if we can round up a lot of money,” she pleaded to Johansson after choosing her husband over her.
Today With Jenna & Scarlett certainly does have a nice ring to it. Fingers crossed this works out for Bush Hager!
Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
Actress Scarlett Johansson is wasting no time in making her mark as a guest host on “Today with Jenna & Friends.” Just one day into her guest hosting duties, the Hollywood star is already gunning for a permanent spot on the popular morning show.In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, Johansson expressed her excitement about her new role on the show. “I am absolutely loving every minute of being a guest host on ‘Today with Jenna & Friends,’” she gushed. “The energy on set is electric, and I feel right at home chatting with Jenna and the rest of the crew.”
Johansson went on to reveal that she is hoping to turn her guest hosting gig into a permanent position. “I would love nothing more than to be a regular fixture on this show,” she said. “I love talking to the guests, sharing stories, and bringing a little bit of Hollywood glamour to morning television.”
Fans of the show have already taken to social media to express their support for Johansson as a potential permanent host. Many are praising her natural charm, wit, and charisma, and are eager to see more of her on their screens.

Scarlett Johansson is living the dream.
The actress is trying her hand at co-hosting television this week on Jenna & Friends, the fourth hour of the NBC morning staple with Jenna Bush Hager, and the fast friends (and even faster dynamic duo) took PEOPLE along for the ride on Jan. 21.
“It’s a complete dream. I was saying to Jenna earlier, it’s like that thing that I imagined as a 10-year-old: Some day I’m going to be on a daytime show and meet all of these amazing people,” Johansson tells PEOPLE exclusively as she and Bush Hager mingle after the show.
“I mean, it’s a testament to what you guys have all built here that I’ve literally walked down the street and have gotten more traction from guest hosting the Today show than any other project that I’ve done!” she says with a laugh.
The morning started with the hosting pair filming their cold open (in layman’s terms: the show’s intro) around 9:30 a.m. before they briefly parted ways for final touchups. Bush Hager, clad in a black sweater dress and a smile, retreats to her dressing room (which is, indeed, just as tiny as the anchors always joke).
The little room is stuffed with colorful shoes and coats and clothes and of course books, and Bush Hager is equally as funny and charming — chatting casually about the broach she wore on her jacket outside on the plaza earlier that morning — even when there aren’t a million cameras on her.
The in-house PA system then informs Bush Hager she’s got five minutes to air, so while she gets in the zone, everyone heads down to Studio 1A, where anchors Craig Melvin, Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer are wrapping their 3rd Hour,
Producers rib Melvin over his recent PEOPLE cover, asking if autographed copies are going to be his go-to Christmas gift next year, and Dreyer is wonderfully welcoming, complimenting haircuts and outfits as she goes.
The studio team quickly swoops in to change the set over for Bush Hager and Johansson, and Roker, meanwhile, is busy offering up barbecue pizza from the 3rd Hour’s earlier segment (reminder, it is barely 10 a.m. at this point) because that’s just how they roll, he says.
The set never stops moving, not once, over the next hour helmed by Bush Hager and Johansson. Today‘s fourth hour is a well-oiled machine — the result of numerous pros showing up to do their jobs (and reveling in the fun).
“It’s such a good vibe here. I’ve done obviously morning shows and whatever for years and years, publicizing projects I worked on and whatever, [but] it’s always so fun to come on this show,” says Johansson. “And the opportunity to be on this show for an hour and get to know more people at the show? It’s just awesome. It’s like, ‘Oh, yeah, we’re doing a fun thing. This is an upbeat thing.’”
And Johansson is a natural next to Bush Hager — no surprise after learning that hosting morning TV has been a longstanding dream for the actress.
“I told Al I’m coming after his job,” she tells PEOPLE. “You guys, [no] if I ever did weather for the week, it would be bad. ‘It looks cold,’ meanwhile, it’s the hottest weather they’ve ever had,” jokes Johansson.
Bush Hager, however, is quick to shower her guest in compliments.
“She’s so naturally curious. I know that from hanging with her. And she’s a good listener. And that’s part of how you do this job. So I knew she’d be good. Listen, she’s made us all cooler because we cultivated these shows with her in mind,” she says.

As the show wraps, the crew chants “Scar-lett! Scar-lett!” over and over again. The star is visibly flattered.
“They don’t do this on movie sets!” she quips.
The two then say their goodbyes (if only for the remainder of the day before Johansson returns for the following morning) and just like that, she’s off to her next engagement in a schedule that proves to be endlessly packed.
“I love her,” says Bush Hager. “And also, when something ends and you’re starting something new, to have people raise their hands and show up for you, it’s the most gracious, amazing feeling. Truthfully.”
Jenna & Friends airs weekdays at 10:00 a.m ET on NBC.
Inside Scarlett Johansson’s First Day as Jenna Bush Hager’s Guest Co-Host (Exclusive)Scarlett Johansson stepped into a new role on Monday as she made her debut as a guest co-host on the Today show alongside Jenna Bush Hager. The actress, known for her roles in films like “Lost in Translation” and “Avengers,” brought her charm and wit to the morning show, delighting viewers and Hager alike.
Johansson’s first day on the job was filled with excitement and nerves, but she quickly settled into her new role with ease. The actress brought her signature style and sense of humor to the show, engaging in lively discussions with Hager and the rest of the Today show team.
Throughout the show, Johansson shared personal anecdotes and insights, giving viewers a glimpse into her life behind the scenes. From her favorite morning routine to her upcoming projects, the actress opened up about her experiences in Hollywood and beyond.
As the show came to a close, Johansson reflected on her time as a guest co-host, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to join the Today show family. Hager praised Johansson for her professionalism and charisma, calling her a natural on camera.
Fans of both Johansson and the Today show can look forward to seeing more of the actress in the future, as she continues her guest co-hosting duties alongside Hager. With her infectious energy and undeniable talent, Scarlett Johansson is sure to be a welcome addition to the morning show lineup.

#Scarlett #Johanssons #Day #Jenna #Bush #Hagers #Guest #CoHost #ExclusiveTulsa shelters seek clothing and monetary donations as guest numbers rise
TULSA, OKLA. (KTUL) — Emergency shelters are working together to keep people warm, but with these shelters currently hosting more people, they’re in need of donations.
“The other shelters around, we communicate with them and collaborate with them in order to help as many people as we can safely and efficiently,” said Ryan McCullough, the Director of Guest Services at the John 3:16 Mission Downtown shelter location.
A collaboration between multiple organizations in Tulsa to help keep residents warm as another round of freezing weather hits the state.
“If it feels like 32 or colder, our warming station immediately goes into activation,” said McCullough.
One of those organizations is John 3:16 Mission, a nonprofit that opened a warming station in their downtown emergency shelter.
“They’re out in the cold, they need somewhere to come to warm up for a little while and be safe. They can come here and that’s available 24-7,” said McCullough.
Another warming station is at Tulsa Day Center.
CEO of the center, Mack Haltom says that, unlike the last cold snap, there aren’t any overflow shelters, so people will have to rely entirely on the emergency shelters for overnight warmth.
“We’re going to really have to hopefully make room with as many people as we can to get them inside during the day and during our night shelter, and I know the other shelters will be having the same kind of issues,” said Haltom.
The other shelters that are opening their doors include the Salvation Army Center of Hope and Youth Services of Tulsa.
“With the increased numbers, I think, of course, increased needs that we need for the Tulsa Day Center, keeping our building open, the costs of utilities, and the supplies we need to help people take care of people,” said Haltom.
Haltom says people can help them by donating warm clothing, and they are also taking financial donations to keep the building open and heated.
John 3:16 Mission is asking for towels and scrubs, hand warmers, emergency blankets, gloves, and socks, and just like Tulsa Day Center, they’re also taking monetary donations.
Information on the open emergency shelters and warming stations can be found on the Housing Solutions Tulsa website.
You can donate by going to the John 3:16 mission website or the Tulsa Day Center website or you can bring item donations to those locations.
As the temperature drops, Tulsa shelters are seeing an increase in the number of guests seeking refuge from the cold. With this rise in guests, shelters are in need of clothing donations to help keep those in need warm during the winter months. Many shelters are also in need of monetary donations to help cover the costs of providing shelter, food, and other essential services to those experiencing homelessness. By donating money, you can help ensure that shelters have the resources they need to support those in need.
If you have gently used clothing or monetary donations to spare, please consider donating to a Tulsa shelter near you. Your generosity can make a big difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness this winter. Let’s come together as a community to support those in need during this challenging time.

All the performers announced for Donald Trump’s inauguration, plus a ‘special guest’
Donald Trump is set to be sworn in for his second term as president of the United States on Monday, Jan. 20.
The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee called the lineup of inaugural events a “historic return to the White House and the American people’s decisive vote to Make America Great Again” in a statement released Jan. 13.
“These special events will honor the rich history and tradition of our great nation, the American people, and the promise our country holds for future generations,” Steve Witkoff and Kelly Loeffler, co-chairs of the committee, said in the statement.
Multiple performers will take the stage during the 60th presidential inauguration and the events surrounding Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.
Who is performing at Trump’s swearing-in ceremony?
Carrie Underwood
Country singer Carrie Underwood confirmed to TODAY.com that she will perform at the president-elect’s inauguration ceremony.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee revealed in a release Jan. 15 that Underwood will be performing “America the Beautiful.”
Lee Greenwood
Lee Greenwood, known for his song “God Bless the U.S.A.,” is set to take the stage at the swearing-in.
“I am humbled and honored to be asked to perform for our 47th President Donald J. Trump during his inaugural events,” Greenwood said in a statement shared with TODAY.com.
“The President has been a friend of Kim and I’s for many years and this is one of the most historical moments in our lifetime. I look forward to celebrating this special day with proud Americans everywhere,” he continued, referring to his wife, Kimberly Payne.
Christopher Macchio
Classical singer Christopher Macchio is scheduled to sing the national anthem at the inauguration, the singer announced Jan. 13.
“It is with deep humility and gratitude that I have accepted @realDonaldTrump President Donald J. Trump’s gracious invitation to perform our National Anthem at the Inauguration of our 47th President,” he shared on X on Jan. 13.
He continued, “In opening and closing this magnificent ceremony with music that celebrates our nation, I hope to contribute to restoring the spirit of unity, strength, and love of country, that will help Make America Great Again.”
Who is performing at the inauguration balls?
Jason Aldean
Country singer Jason Aldean is slated to perform at the Liberty Ball, one of three balls held for the incoming president the night of the inauguration. Trump is expected to speak at all three.
Aldean and Trump have had a public friendship since at least 2022, when the “Dirt Road Anthem” singer attended a New Year’s Eve party at Trump’s Florida home, per a photo he shared on Instagram.
He also introduced Trump at a rally in Georgia, Aldean’s home state, in October 2024.
The Village People
The Village People will perform at the inauguration, lead singer Victor Willis announced on Facebook Jan. 13.
“We are announcing today that VILLAGE PEOPLE have accepted an invitation from President Elect Trump’s campaign to participate in inaugural activities, including at least one event with President Elect Trump,” Willis wrote, sharing a photo of the group. “We know this wont (sic) make some of you happy to hear however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics.”
He continued, “Our song ‘Y.M.C.A.’ is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost. Therefore, we believe it’s now time to bring the country together with music which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events as part of the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump.”
Trump often used “Y.M.C.A.” at events for his presidential campaigns. In December 2024, Willis shared on social media that he had received over 1,000 complaints about Trump’s usage of the song.
Willis said he previously asked Trump to stop using the song because it had become such a “nuisance” to him. He noted, however, that the campaign obtained a political use license to play the song.
Rascal Flatts
Rascal Flatts will hit the stage at Commander in Chief Ball, the first inaugural ball of the evening, the inauguration committee announced.
The musical group, who sings hits like “Life is a Highway” and “Bless the Broken Road,” is comprised of lead vocalist Gary LeVox, guitarist Joe Don Rooney and pianist Jay DeMarcus.
“I am so humbled and honored and grateful for the opportunity again to play the inauguration of the 46th President of the United States,” LeVox wrote on Instagram.
LeVox performed at the 2017 Veterans Inaugural Ball during Trump’s first inauguration.
Gavin DeGraw
Gavin DeGraw is joining the list of performers ringing in Trump’s inauguration as he prepares to perform at the Starlight Ball.
At this time, the “Not Over You” singer is slated as the only performer at the ball, which is the last of the evening.
Parker McCollum
Country singer Parker McCollum will join Rascal Flatts at the Commander in Chief Ball inauguration night.
The “Like a Cowboy” singer hasn’t been shy about sharing his political views online. In January 2022, McCollum shared a post on X containing pictures of a Trump rally in Texas.
“Donald Trump in Conroe, TX bra… never thought I’d see the day,” he wrote at the time.
Special musical guest
Nelly
The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee confirmed Jan. 18 that rapper Nelly is the “special guest performer” at the Liberty Ball Monday.
While appearing on the “Willie D Live” podcast Jan. 18, Nelly told host Willie D that he’s performing for “the office” of the President of the United States, adding that he views “candidate Trump” and “President Trump” as two separate people.
“I’m not a politician man, you didn’t see me out there on the campaign. You didn’t see me out there saying you should vote for this candidate. You didn’t see me out there saying you should vote for this candidate,” Nelly told Willie D, in part. “But I’m honored to be out there performing for the office, for the President of the United States.”
Who is performing at the MAGA rally?
The Village People
The inauguration committee confirmed Wednesday that, in addition to the inauguration ceremony, The Village People will also be performing at the Make America Great Again rally Jan. 19.
In the group’s Facebook post on Monday, The Village People wrote that they accepted an invitation to “participate in inaugural activities.”
Billy Ray Cyrus
Billy Ray Cyrus has joined the lineup and is scheduled to perform during the Jan. 19 MAGA rally.
Cyrus has previously been open about his support of Trump, sharing a photo on Facebook in August 2024 flashing a thumps up beside the former president.
“I stand here with former U.S. President Donald J. Trump as a proud AMERICAN,” he wrote in part.
Kid Rock
The MAGA rally will also feature Kid Rock, who has also been transparent about his support for Trump on social media.
In November, Kid Rock shared a compilation video featuring Trump and incoming Vice President JD Vance on Instagram, writing, “Vote Trump.”
Lee Greenwood
Greenwood is also slated to take the stage at the MAGA rally Jan. 19, in addition to his performance during the swearing-in ceremony Jan. 20.
Liberty University’s Praise Choir
The Praise Choir at Liberty University, a Christian college located in central Virginia, is scheduled to perform at the MAGA rally.
In 2017, the gospel choir attended 58th Presidential Inauguration, when Trump was last sworn into office.
At the time, the university’s choral group sang during a prayer service for Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence at the National Cathedral.

As the countdown to Donald Trump’s inauguration continues, the list of performers set to take the stage is growing. From country stars to pop sensations, the lineup is sure to be diverse and entertaining. So far, confirmed performers include country singers Toby Keith and Lee Greenwood, rock band 3 Doors Down, and the Radio City Rockettes. Additionally, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Missouri State University Chorale will lend their voices to the event.
But perhaps the most intriguing addition to the lineup is a ‘special guest’ who has yet to be announced. Speculation is running rampant as to who this mystery performer could be, with names like Kanye West and Taylor Swift being thrown around.
Regardless of who takes the stage, one thing is for certain – Donald Trump’s inauguration is shaping up to be a star-studded affair. Stay tuned for more updates on the performers and ‘special guest’ as January 20th draws closer.

Dave Chappelle hosts for 4th time with musical guest GloRilla
Welcome to 2025, Conehead nation! There’s so much Saturday Night Live content these days, I can barely keep up. Documentaries, 8H “experiences” and now, oh yes, the return of season 50.
Dave Chappelle hosts the first episode of the new year, in his fourth gig. The previous episodes hosted by the legendary (if increasingly controversial) stand-up were mostly grounded in election reactions; they were November shows. Tonight’s episode also has a political twinge — we are less than 48 hours from the end of Joe Biden’s presidency and the return of Donald Trump to the White House. How will Dave make sense of this?
I am honored to be joined tonight with commentary with former SNL cast member Jerry Minor, who is planning to launch a new podcast with ECamm, Playing to the Back of the Room. On Chappelle, Minor shares: “I’ve always been a big fan… I think he’s great, and he’s usually a really good host.”
Reflecting on the pending Trump 2.0 era in comedy, Minor thinks it will be hard to strike the right tone in terms of political jokes: “Obviously shows like Saturday Night Live will continue to do them. But how does that happen? How do people make fun of him? How mad is he going to get at the way people make fun of him?” He adds: “During the 2000 election, Bush and Gore both came to SNL and did bits. Back then both candidates would probably make an effort to at least make some kind of appearance on the show… Even then we felt like no matter how I felt about either candidate, there was always an effort not to get too close to them, because I knew I was going to have to make fun of them.”
Scroll down and be merry folks. Hopefully our friends at 8H are well-rested and ready to meet the moment.

Cold Open
It’s a special MSNBC Report with Rachel Maddow (Sarah Sherman), who is back on TV for inauguration weekend. Chris Hayes (Andrew Dismukes) is “Woke Sheldon” as part of a group of progressive Avengers for our collective aunts — the group promises to not chase every crazy Trump statement. But sure enough, they cannot resist — every statement from Trump distracts them. Real policy is too boring.
Meanwhile, Joy Reid (Ego Nwodim) is calling out Chloe Fineman’s Stephanie Ruhle for trying to hook up. And Marcello Hernandez keeps quoting old pop songs, including “The Real Slim Shady.” As Trump himself puts it, the anchors are awful, like Scooby Doo “All Velma”. They cut to James Austin Johnson’s Trump, who introduces the latest member of his cabinet, the pathological liar George Santos (Bowen Yang). Interesting the show thinks of Yang’s Santos as a fan favorite.
This is an OK media critique as the show starts thinking through its stance on Trump and the new normal. Not brilliant or ambitious in its satire, but solid.
Monologue
Chappelle comes out wearing a great-looking suit and smoking a cigarette. He says he’s in a pickle — Lorne Michaels asked him to do the election episode back in November but he declined. He kept pushing it off until deciding it was time to get rid of his old Trump jokes. Now, the L.A. fires have changed things. Is it too soon to joke about celebrities’ homes being destroyed? While he’s tired of being controversial, he gives it a shot. He talks about poor people, West Hollywood, Luigi Mangione, and conspiracy theories.
He turns back to Trump and the rumors that Haitian immigrants were stealing and eating pets in Springfield, Ohio. He tosses his cigarette to the ground, lamenting it’s no longer fun being famous. With some understatement, he notes Diddy is in a bit of trouble! Is he ugly, Dave wonders? Or, does he just have snitch energy? The baby oil bit here is a highlight for me. This must be one of the longest monologues of the season. He returns to Trump and the death of Jimmy Carter, and tells a moving story about the former president going to Palestine. He salutes Carter’s courage and leaves a message for Trump — and all of us. “Do better,” he implores. Show decency to people whether they live in the Palisades or Palestine. Moving and classy.
While Minor shared he is not a huge fan of a lot of modern stand-up, Chappelle remains someone he wouldn’t mind working with as far as sketch. Minor has crossed paths with Chappelle in the past noting: “Comedy Central had an award show years and years back, they only did that for three or four years. I was a performer. I think he got an award that year, maybe best stand up.”
“Immigrant Dad Talk Show”
This sketch returns from season 49 — Joaquin Antonio (Marcello Hernández) hosts a talk show as an immigrant father who dislikes his son. Chappelle joins him today as “Black Neighbor Richard.” His son lost access to his bedroom door due to a porn addiction. His next guest is Mikey Day, a local guidance counselor. His relationship with his son Conor (Dismukes) is way too affectionate and close — his wife (Fineman) is totally iced out. Kind of cute.
“Evacuation Alert”
A family decides to evacuate the fires. The dad (Chappelle) has a secret, he takes a sledgehammer to the wall and reveals half a million dollars in cash, guns, and fake passports hidden in the walls. Things escalate — not sure if the monologue’s length cut the set-up here? More secrets emerge, Chappelle says there’s no time to explain, even mercy killing the dog. Funny resolution.
GloRilla performs “Yeah Glo!”
Joining Chappelle as musical guest is rapper GloRilla. The multi-platinum-selling artist received two Grammy nominations for her hit “Yeah Glo!” The Memphis/crunk song is from her second mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang which was released last year. Fun energy.
“Weekend Update”
Huge applause and cheers welcome our favorite anchors. They jump into the inauguration, as well as President Biden’s farewell. Colin Jost lands a brutal joke on Mark Zuckerberg, while Michael Che notes the inauguration is on MLK Jr. Day.
TikTok is getting banned in the U.S. (at least temporarily) — and Michael Longfellow comes on to plead the case for why the app should stay on. He dryly takes on the critiques and how the app has warped his habits. His attention span is shot and misinformation is everywhere.
Jost introduces a new segment, “Hear Me Out,” tackling a new AI law in California. He does some accent work tonight that confuses and concerns Che.
The original Nosferatu (Sherman) comes out to talk about the new movie. Fans of Sherman’s Letterboxd know she is a huge body horror fan! She knocks the current Nosferatu body — way too jacked! (For fans of SNL vampire humor, check out how John Travolta’s Dracula and his eccentric behavior led to a humorous misunderstanding in the ’90s.) Lots of meme-worthy moments here, I guess. They end tonight with a message to support fire relief in L.A.
Back to the inauguration — when Jerry Minor was in the cast, on the same day George Bush was inaugurated as president, Mena Suvari was the show’s host. As part of “Weekend Update,” Minor did a commentary as Al Sharpton: “I did him a couple of times with Darrell doing Jesse Jackson… that was a lot of fun to do. There’s a lot of references in there that are only from 2000, popular songs that no one would remember now — one of those things that could only be written then.” (He performs OutKast and Limp Bizkit songs.) “I think I wrote it the day before, that Friday because of what was going on that week. That’s the nature of Saturday Night Live. And watching it now, it’s kind of funny – he’s doing Sharpton. But then at that time… it was just a completely different feel.”
Former cast member Victoria Jackson was watching tonight and shares: “Super funny TikTok segment on Update by Michael Longfellow.”
“Police Station”
A man’s girlfriend is missing, and the police want a physical description to sketch what she looks like to be found. When they ask for her weight, he (Devon Walker) pauses – the janitor Dwayne (Kenan Thompson) warns it is a trap. The two men furtively communicate to avoid answering any questions. No Chappelle role, wonder what is up with that. He couldn’t play Dwayne?
GloRilla performs “Whatchu Kno About Me” and “Let Her Cook”
Another fun performance! But bad lip-syncing?
“Pop the Balloon”
This is a fun, modern format — in a spoof of social media dating shows, women pop balloons on contestants. SNL existing in digital set-ups, not traditional game shows, is smart. These are how people watch these shows, so it should be a stream.
Legendary Chappelle Show pimp Silky Johnson appears, complete with Donnell Rawlings. Wow, Ashy Larry also participates! Fun to see these old characters here — though not as surprising or clever as the House of the Dragon short.
Final thoughts
- Thank you Jerry Minor. Keep your eyes peeled for his new podcast, Playing to the Back of the Room, which should be dropping sometime in the next few weeks.
- FYI: Happy MLK holiday, folks. Minor notes that the MLK episode during his season was hosted by Charlie Sheen, who he became somewhat friends with meeting at 8H. (“Very very nice guy…He told me a lot of stuff that I can’t probably can’t repeat!”
- What did you think? Vote here. Lots of tech glitches tonight, right?
