Savannah Guthrie’s ‘frosty’ moment with Today co-host leads to ‘guilty’ confession
Savannah Guthrie opened Today on Thursday alongside Craig Melvin from the comfort of Studio 1A, but it wasn’t long before she was squirming in her seat.
The hosts were at the helm of the NBC show as they read the headlines before turning to a colleague who was in a far less cozy environment.
Savannah and Craig winced as they introduced Dylan Dreyer who was braving the freezing cold weather on the plaza in New York.
She was wrapped up against the wintery front which was sweeping across the midwest and east coast of America.
Dylan confirmed: “It’s worse than it looks,” before detailing the nasty weather report.
Savannah couldn’t help but admit she felt “guilt” over Dylan being outside and urged her to come in for a cup of hot chocolate.
Dylan is no stranger to putting herself in extreme weather conditions in her role as a meteorologist.
She previously said: “I’m 100 percent committed to my job and I love it,” and she adores traveling around the globe for exciting, and sometimes dangerous, assignments.
But one thing she isn’t a fan of is leaving her family, including her husband, Brian Fichera, and their three boys, Rusty, Ollie and Calvin.
She loves being a mom despite the fact before they had children, she and Brian weren’t sure they wanted to become parents.
“We didn’t think we wanted kids at all,” she told HELLO! in an exclusive interview. “We were living in New York City, traveling whenever we wanted to, doing whatever we wanted, and then suddenly it sort of came to us both.
We were like ‘let’s have kids’. Both of us obviously love it.”
As for if she would try for a girl with her husband, Dylan quipped that with her track record, it was likely she would welcome another boy instead. “Don’t think Brian and I haven’t had that conversation,” Dylan told TODAY.com. “But it’s like, no, we are so done. I know my luck, and it would be a fourth boy!”
Not to mention where she would put the new addition to the family.
“I’ve got all three kids in one room,” Dylan quipped. “Four just seems crazy to me.”
The number three also holds a special place in both Dylan and Brian’s hearts as she explained to HELLO!: “When we decided to have children, I used to always want three. I grew up with two brothers, my husband is one of three. Three just feels right for us now.”
Savannah Guthrie’s ‘frosty’ moment with Today co-host leads to ‘guilty’ confessionDuring a recent episode of the Today show, co-host Savannah Guthrie had a tense exchange with her fellow co-host, Hoda Kotb, that left viewers feeling a bit uneasy. The atmosphere between the two seemed frosty, with Guthrie appearing visibly frustrated with Kotb.
However, what seemed like a simple disagreement quickly turned into a moment of truth, as Guthrie finally broke her silence and confessed that she was feeling guilty about something that had been weighing on her mind for quite some time.
As Guthrie opened up about her feelings, the tension between the two co-hosts melted away, and a sense of understanding and empathy filled the studio. Kotb, being the supportive friend that she is, listened attentively and offered words of comfort to Guthrie.
The ‘frosty’ moment between Guthrie and Kotb may have been uncomfortable to watch, but it ultimately led to a moment of vulnerability and honesty that strengthened their bond as co-hosts and friends.
In the end, Guthrie’s ‘guilty’ confession served as a reminder that it’s okay to acknowledge our feelings and share them with others, even if it means facing some awkward moments along the way.

Hoda first shared this photo of her and Savannah in September when she hosted the TODAY co-anchor and her family at her new house outside the city. However, Hoda explained that Savannah and her brood only stayed for 30 minutes.
“I have to say, Savannah understands, and she was like, ‘We’re coming and going,’” Hoda told her co-host Jenna Bush Hager on TODAY. “They came in, they ate some cupcakes, they walked around, and the kids were on the swings for 10 minutes.”
Savannah is a proud mom of two kids, Vale, 10, and Charley, 8, whom she shares with her husband, Michael Feldman. As for Hoda, she co-parents her daughters, Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, with her ex Joel Schiffman.
Jenna also wished her close friend a happy birthday on Instagram.
“Happiest Birthday to my dearest girl, soul-sister, sister wife, expert listener and wise wisdom-seeker @savannahguthrie,” Jenna captioned her post, which featured photos of her and Savannah on the TODAY plaza, posing for selfies and their kids holding up cardboard cutouts of their faces on sticks.
“What a wild and wonderful like you came into my life! Love you!” she added.
TODAY weatherman Al Roker marked Savannah’s big day with a reel of candid pics of the two together on Instagram, set to Lenny Kravitz’s “Happy Birthday.”
“The happiest of birthdays to my pal, Savvie G, @savannahguthrie who deserves all the birthday wishes her family and friends are sending her way! Love you.” he captioned his post.
So far, Savannah appears to be enjoying the holidays with her family and friends. For Christmas, she wore matching striped pajamas with Mike and their kids and said they felt “very merry” during the holiday.
Earlier in December, Savannah announced that she and her family got a dog when she revealed her 2024 holiday card. The family of four named their new pooch Fetch.
“Mike, Savannah, Vale and Charley are delighted to announce that this year, we made Fetch happen. Merriest everything to all and blessings for 2025!” the card read.

Kotb got choked up as she explained the sentimental value of the gift, which came from cohost Savannah Guthrie. “It”s a beautiful song that Savannah gave to me every time I was going through something new,” she explained as Garrels’ tune played over the speakers. “Oh my God, it’s too much. Oh my God, the song.”
Guthrie responded, “I thought you could put it on your desk in the morning when you’re reading your stuff.”

Earlier in the segment, Guthrie received her own thoughtful gift from Craig Melvin: a dog sweater embroidered with the name of her new dog, Fetch. “You made Fetch happen!” she joked, referencing the oft-quoted phrase from Mean Girls. “Merry Christmas Fetch!” Melvin responded.
Later, Melvin received a New York Mets blanket with its own sentimental meaning from Kotb. . “I will treasure this forever,” he said, laughing upon opening the gift.
Kotb detailed why the Mets have a strong personal association for her and Melvin, who will replace her as one of Today‘s primary cohosts after she departs the show next month. “When Craig got this job, before anyone knew, Savannah, Craig and I knew,” she explained. “I said, ‘Since no one can know, Craig, the code I’m gonna give to you, is every time I think about it, is I’m gonna say, “Let’s go Mets.”‘ And so every time I looked at Craig and I said, ‘Let’s go Mets,’ he knew that I was cheering him on for this new job.”
Guthrie, however, wasn’t clued into the secret messaging. “You know what’s really funny? Hoda, you didn’t tell me that, and I was like, ‘Hoda is really into the Mets!’” she said.
At the end of the segment, Carson Daly revealed his gift to Al Roker, who was absent from the episode as he spent time with his family. The present was a “legacy journal” that he could eventually give to his grandchildren: “He could journal a little bit, and it would be a book, ultimately, that would be passed down,” Daly explained.
