  • Al Roker Yells ‘Make It Stop’ After Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager Sing on ‘Today’

Al Roker yelled at his Today costars during a segment of the show when they decided to sing their hearts out in an impromptu musical performance.

During a recent Pop Start segment on Today, Jenna Bush Hager and Savannah Guthrie began singing “Islands in the Stream” by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. Though they successfully were able to harmonize while belting the 1983 hit, Al, 70, was less than impressed.

Al took his glasses off and rubbed the bridge of his nose as he sat sandwiched in between Savannah, 53, and Jenna, 43, on the couch. They wrapped their arms around him as they continued to sing despite his very loud pleas for them to stop.

“Please, no, make it stop! Make it stop!” the meteorologist yelled as his colleagues continued to sing. Carson Daly continued talking in the background, discussing the days biggest headlines in the entertainment world.

“Oh God, please no,” Carson, 51, could then be heard saying over Savannah and Jenna’s singing. The Voice host put a pillow over his face while Jenna and Savannah sang. Craig Melvin also sat alongside them smiling during the awkward segment.

On Today’s official Instagram page, the clip was posted with the caption, “Uncle Al is tired.” The comments section was full of love for Al, who has been at the heart of the talk show for decades.

“Al is my favorite. He just makes you want to give him the biggest hug. He exudes warmth,” one person wrote.

Another person wrote, “Al is the absolute best.”

However, some people agreed with Al and weren’t too impressed by Savannah and Jenna’s singing.

“Please just stop their singing, I love them and this undermines their abilities as hosts & correspondents,” one person said.

“I can’t! Was Hoda holding this show together? Bring her back, please!!” one person wrote. “I miss Sheinelle, and hope things are going well for her and her family. The Savannah and Jenna show is more than I can handle.”

The comment was in reference to Sheinelle Jones’ ongoing absence from Today. Sheinelle, 46, addressed her TV hiatus in a January 15 Instagram post.

“I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter,” the NBC anchor wrote on the social media platform. “It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not on the the support of my Today show family, but to also have all of you,” she continued. “Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle.”

She has not yet made her return to the show and has not announced when she is expected to be back. Fans have been rallying around Sheinelle amid her time away from the program.

“You are beloved by us all! So many prayers for complete healing. Your family is our family,” someone commented on Sheinelle’s Instagram post, as another person wrote, “I appreciate you sharing this with us so much because you have most definitely been missed. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family as things progress.”

Today on the ‘Today’ show, things took a hilarious turn when Al Roker couldn’t handle the singing talents of his co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager. As the two women belted out a duet, Al Roker couldn’t help but yell “Make it stop!” in jest.

The moment was captured on camera and quickly went viral on social media, with fans of the show praising Al Roker for his candid reaction. It’s clear that even the most talented singers can’t please everyone, but at least Al Roker’s honesty brought some much-needed laughter to viewers’ screens.

Despite Al Roker’s plea to make the singing stop, it’s safe to say that Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager won’t be quitting their day jobs any time soon. But hey, at least they provided some entertainment for the audience!

  • Jenna Bush Hager And Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman Look Back On A “Wild” Night They Once Shared: “May Have been Some Dancing On The Tables”

It looks like Jenna Bush Hager‘s partying days aren’t over yet.

The Today host revealed on Tuesday’s broadcast of Today With Jenna & Friends that she once partied with her guest co-host of the day, Little Big Town singer Kimberly Schlapman.

“We had one wild night at a resort in Tennessee,” Bush Hager announced.

“We did, we had a memorable one,” Schlapman replied. “I might remember it a little more than some of y’all do, but it was fun.”

The pair didn’t share much about what happened that evening – though they teased that there was “some dancing on the tables” – but Bush Hager had one lesson she took away from that evening: “If the band Little Big Town asks if you want to go out, you say yes and you cancel your plans for the next day.”

The memory seemed to inspire Schlapman to share a major secret that left Bush Hager shocked. When Bush Hager asked if she’s ever had a “wild night out on vacation,” Schlapman announced that she had something to share that only “four people on this whole Earth know about.”

“Not my parents, not my daddy,” she explained. “So, I decided before I say it I need to tell my momma, so I did that like 10 minutes ago.”

The singer revealed that she and her husband decided to elope in Las Vegas months before their wedding in November 2006.

“Wait, your parents didn’t know that until today?!” Bush Hager responded.

“Nobody knew! No one knew!” Schlapman confirmed. As she explained it, the elopement was less of a drunk night in Vegas than it sounds. “We planned it… Schlap was like, ‘What if we get there early and get married?’ And I was like, ‘I’ve never done anything bad! Yes!’”

She later added, “My parents found out 10 minutes ago and I’m still shaking thinking about it. But it’s nice to be free of that.”

Schlapman is the latest celebrity guest host to join Bush Hager on Today With Jenna & Friends. Ciara and Wynonna Judd will also be guest hosting this week ahead of the Grammy Awards.

Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.

Jenna Bush Hager And Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman Look Back On A “Wild” Night They Once Shared: “May Have been Some Dancing On The Tables”

In a recent interview, Jenna Bush Hager and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town reminisced about a night they shared that they both described as “wild.” The two friends, who have known each other for years, laughed as they recounted the details of the evening.

“It was definitely a night to remember,” Jenna said with a smile. “There may have been some dancing on the tables involved.”

Kimberly chimed in, “Oh yes, there was definitely some table dancing going on. We were definitely feeling the music that night.”

The two women, who are both known for their fun-loving personalities, didn’t reveal too many specifics about the night in question, but they did hint at a few wild antics that took place.

“It was just one of those nights where we were both in the mood to let loose and have a great time,” Jenna said. “And boy, did we ever.”

Kimberly added, “I think we surprised a few people that night with how much fun we were having. But hey, life is too short not to dance on the tables every now and then, right?”

As they laughed and shared stories from that memorable night, it was clear that Jenna and Kimberly share a special bond that transcends their professional lives. And while they may not be dancing on tables every night, they’ll always have that wild night to look back on and smile about.

  • The 4 Celebs Co-Hosting with Jenna Bush Hager on TODAY (Jan. 27)

Viewers tuning in to watch the fourth hour of TODAY next week are in for a treat! Jenna Bush Hager will welcome some very special co-hosts in honor of the show’s music week.

    How to Watch

Watch TODAY weekdays at 7AM ET on NBC.

In a January 23 Instagram post, the TODAY with Jenna & Friends account spilled the beans that four larger-than-life music icons will be joining Hager all next week: The Voice’s Kelsea Ballerini kicks off the festivities on Monday, January 27, followed by Jordin Sparks, Ciara, and Wynonna Judd to finish off the week. Talk about a star-studded lineup!

“New week, New friends! Join us starting Monday, Jan. 27 for our #JennaandFriends music week with co-hosts @kelseaballerini, @jordinsparks, @ciara and @wynonnajudd! ,” the show captioned.

Ballerini’s hosting duties will come before she officially joins Season 27 of The Voice on Monday, February 3! The country music singer-songwriter is 31 years old, making her the youngest co-host yet.

NBC viewers last saw Jordin Sparks when she memorably performed during the holiday special, A Motown Christmas, and next week, the 35-year-old will find herself sitting next to Hager during the fourth hour of TODAY. We can’t wait to watch the former American Idol winner in such a unique environment.

Of course, what can be said about Ciara that hasn’t been said a million times before? We’re looking forward to watching the Grammy winner perform in a way that she usually doesn’t, but something tells us she’ll make the transition from stage to morning show set just fine!

Last but not least, country music icon Wynonna Judd will stop by to cap the week alongside Hager, and we’re crossing our fingers that she’ll belt out a few songs during her guest-hosting stint!

Next week will serve as the latest chapter in Hager’s mission to find a permanent co-host. (Although we don’t think anybody would complain if Scarlett Johansson, who stole Hager’s heart this week, permanently signed up for the job!)

Scarlett Johansson on TODAY guest co-hosting duties: “My favorite job I’ve ever had”

Keep in mind that next week’s guest co-hosts will only appear if Johansson can be dragged away from the set of TODAY with Jenna & Friends! In an Instagram video shared by TODAY on January 23, cameras caught Johansson crashing the set while the cameras were rolling to say hello to the cast in her fluffy bathrobe and slippers.

The star couldn’t resist not saying hello to her temporary colleagues, and it was the cutest thing ever. She was greeted with open arms by the cast, especially by Al Roker, who gave her a giant bear hug. And in true ScarJo fashion, she arrived with a message that brightened up her colleague’s early mornings.

“This is my favorite job I’ve ever had,” she confessed. “I love this job.”

Jenna has been joined by a slew of stars on Today‘s fourth hour after Hoda Kotb departed the show on January 10 to spend more time with her young daughters.

The 43-year-old has welcomed Taraji P. Henson, Eva Longoria, Keke Palmer, and Michelle Buteau to the desk in recent weeks. These actresses have delighted fans with their quick wit and magnetic charisma.

Today fans aren’t the only ones excited to see Scarlett join the ranks of guest anchors; the mother of two revealed to Jenna that she had now fulfilled a lifelong dream of being a morning show host.

“I cannot believe it, she said of her new role. “And more importantly, everyone in my life can’t quite believe it either.

“The people that knew me very well were like, ‘You are living your dream. I am so happy for you. The people that did not know me as well were like, ‘What’s going on? Are you OK?’

She added that as a child, she would pretend to be a reporter in the mirror, addressing an invisible audience. She would ask, “Good morning, everyone, and I hope you had a wonderful weekend. What’s happening in your neck of the woods? All of that stuff.”

In a twist of fate, Jenna explained how she wanted to be an actress growing up, wishing for Scarlett’s glamorous life.

“Your life was my dream. I wanted to be a Broadway star, but I was not talented, she said.

“I wasn’t talented. I can’t sing, for one, but my mom would drive me to try out for Les Misérables even though I was, like, kind of a chunky Texas [kid.] Not my vibes.”

  • Jenna Bush Hager Credits Grandma Barbara Bush for ‘Sexy’ Love of Books (Exclusive)

Jenna Bush Hager is booked (and busy).

The Today media maven spends every weekday hosting the fourth hour of the NBC morning show — newly named Jenna & Friends — and she also pops into the earlier hours to deliver the “Morning Boost.” (Bush Hager received the “Boost” baton from Hoda Kotb on the anchor’s last day at Today in an effort to keep Kotb’s longstanding tradition of good vibes going.)

Now, Bush Hager is even busier. The host, whose popular book club Read with Jenna has helped propel 47 titles to the New York Times best seller list, is launching her own publishing imprint.

Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager pose with the “Morning Boost Baton” Hoda’s last day, Jan 10.

    Nathan Congleton/NBC

Bush Hager tells PEOPLE that she began tossing around the idea for the imprint, Thousand Voices Books, six months ago — “and here we are!”

“Because I’m so into it, it doesn’t really feel like work,” she says. “I mean, it is, but I’m just having such a great time.”

Thousand Voices Books will be part of the Random House Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House LLC, and will serve as an expansion of Bush Hager’s media company Thousand Voices. The imprint will publish six titles in 2025, the first of which is called Conform by Ariel Sullivan.

“Somebody had told me, ‘You don’t need to start an imprint. These are the reasons why it doesn’t work.’ And the truth is, all of the reasons why traditional, for lack of a better word, celebrity or influencer-led imprints don’t work, we have sort of a solve for,” Bush Hager says, citing the fact that she’s established herself as a trusted voice in the literary world already, and she has a built-in platform to help champion her choices.

A throwback photo Jenna Bush Hager (R) shared featuring her two children Mila (center) and Poppy, sister Barbara and grandmother Barbara in.

She’s also been a book worm from the beginning and can trace her love of literature back through her family tree.

“Both of my grandmothers, whom [sister Barbara and I] were named after, there was a certain importance that they had in our lives, and they were huge readers. I mean, my grandmother, Barbara Bush, had a sewn, needle-pointed pillow on her couch that said, ‘Reading is sexy.’ Which I’ve remade and put on my couch,” she says with a laugh.

Bush Hager’s mom, former first lady Laura Bush, was a librarian, and so were both grandmothers: Laura’s mother, Jenna Welch, and the former first lady. When Barbara’s husband George H. W. Bush became Vice President in 1981, she focused her special cause on literacy. She later started the nonprofit the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, which advocates for helping parents and their children learn the basic educational skills of reading and writing.

“I remember, probably right when I could read myself, I was in maybe second or third grade, and my grandmother Barbara was visiting, and she was the first lady [then], and she’d actually brought us her dog’s puppy. Her grandpuppy. And I was reading a book that she had recommended on her arrival called A Dog Called Kitty. And it’s kind of in the same vein as Where the Red Fern Grows. It’s this really sad, sweet story of a dog named Kitty who has a friend, spoiler alert, and the dog passes away at the end,” Bush Hager recalls.

“I was bawling crying, being driven around with her, and she was like, ‘Somebody’s going to think I’m hitting you! Don’t cry so hard!’ But I think I realized, well, [this experience] was with her, and I couldn’t put the book down. And I think I realized the power that books have to make us feel,” she says.

    NBC

As Bush Hager begins her new imprint, she’s also embarking on a new era of Jenna & Friends. After Kotb’s departure on Jan. 10, the show is having a rotation of A-list stars step in as host.

This week, Taraji P. Henson and Eva Longoria were on-hand and Bush Hager couldn’t have been more appreciative for their help amid the devastating fires in Los Angeles.

“I honestly am so grateful that Taraji and Eva came,” she says. “I mean, they are going through [this]— they live in L.A. and their hearts are broken — and yet they showed up for me.”

One thing Bush Hager does during trouble times, is read.

“When we’re witnessing these horrific fires and people’s livelihoods and lives and everything that they own being burned and it’s this horrific moment in our history, this book I read — that I can’t tell you about yet — brought so much hope to me.”

“So I just think [books] do have this singular power, she concluded, “that is something I want to be part of.”

Jenna Bush Hager Credits Grandma Barbara Bush for ‘Sexy’ Love of Books (Exclusive)

In a recent interview, Jenna Bush Hager opened up about her deep love for books and how her grandmother, former First Lady Barbara Bush, played a significant role in instilling that passion in her.

“Grandma always made reading seem so sexy,” Hager said. “She had this incredible way of making books come alive and sparking a curiosity in me that has stayed with me to this day.”

Hager, who is a bestselling author and co-host of the Today show, credits her grandmother for not only introducing her to the joy of reading but also for teaching her the importance of education and self-improvement.

“She always encouraged me to explore different genres and authors, and to never stop learning,” Hager shared. “I am forever grateful for the gift of books that she gave me.”

Barbara Bush was known for her love of literature and was a strong advocate for literacy throughout her life. Hager continues to honor her grandmother’s legacy by promoting reading and education in her own work.

As Hager reflects on her grandmother’s influence, she hopes to pass on the love of books to her own children and inspire others to discover the magic of reading.

“Books have the power to transport us to different worlds, to challenge our perspectives, and to connect us with others,” Hager said. “I owe so much to my grandmother for showing me the beauty and power of words.”

It is clear that Barbara Bush’s legacy lives on in her granddaughter, Jenna Bush Hager, as she continues to share her passion for books with the world.

  • Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager, Al Roker Celebrate Savannah Guthrie’s Birthday

Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager, Al Roker Celebrate Savannah Guthrie’s Birthday

Hoda Kotb is sending a lot of love Savannah Guthrie’s way.

On Dec. 27, Hoda celebrated Savannah’s 53rd birthday by sharing a beautiful selfie of them hanging out at her new suburban home. In the pic, both of them sported fresh faces as they smiled for the camera wearing little makeup. The pic appeared to be taken in Hoda’s backyard.

“Happy bday to the finest. I love you @savannahguthrie,” Hoda penned the caption.

In the comments, fans also wished Savannah a happy birthday and said they admire her and Hoda’s friendship.

“Of course Savannah is a Capricorn! Such a provider and giver and hard worker. Happy birthday Savannah!!” one person said.

“It takes one to know one! You rock Hoda! Happy Birthday Savannah!,” another added.

Hoda first shared this photo of her and Savannah in September when she hosted the TODAY co-anchor and her family at her new house outside the city. However, Hoda explained that Savannah and her brood only stayed for 30 minutes.

“I have to say, Savannah understands, and she was like, ‘We’re coming and going,’” Hoda told her co-host Jenna Bush Hager on TODAY. “They came in, they ate some cupcakes, they walked around, and the kids were on the swings for 10 minutes.”

Savannah is a proud mom of two kids, Vale, 10, and Charley, 8, whom she shares with her husband, Michael Feldman. As for Hoda, she co-parents her daughters, Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, with her ex Joel Schiffman.

Jenna also wished her close friend a happy birthday on Instagram.

“Happiest Birthday to my dearest girl, soul-sister, sister wife, expert listener and wise wisdom-seeker @savannahguthrie,” Jenna captioned her post, which featured photos of her and Savannah on the TODAY plaza, posing for selfies and their kids holding up cardboard cutouts of their faces on sticks.

“What a wild and wonderful like you came into my life! Love you!” she added.

TODAY weatherman Al Roker marked Savannah’s big day with a reel of candid pics of the two together on Instagram, set to Lenny Kravitz’s “Happy Birthday.”

“The happiest of birthdays to my pal, Savvie G, @savannahguthrie who deserves all the birthday wishes her family and friends are sending her way! Love you.” he captioned his post.

So far, Savannah appears to be enjoying the holidays with her family and friends. For Christmas, she wore matching striped pajamas with Mike and their kids and said they felt “very merry” during the holiday.

Earlier in December, Savannah announced that she and her family got a dog when she revealed her 2024 holiday card. The family of four named their new pooch Fetch.

“Mike, Savannah, Vale and Charley are delighted to announce that this year, we made Fetch happen. Merriest everything to all and blessings for 2025!” the card read.

Today, we are celebrating the birthday of our beloved colleague and friend, Savannah Guthrie!
