Body of soldier Oron Shaul, held by Hamas since 2014, rescued from Gaza
The IDF and Shin Bet, in a special and secret operation, rescued the body of the kidnapped soldier, Sergeant Oron Shaul , who fell in the battle of Shejaiya on July 20, 2014, during Operation Protective Edge. He fell in the APC disaster in the Gaza Strip, in which six other fighters fell.
He was initially declared missing, but Hamas announced that the soldier was in its possession. The IDF determined that he was no longer alive and a few days later declared him a martyr whose burial place was unknown, and his family even held a vigil for him.
“Efforts to recover him, including the collection of information and intelligence by the Prisoners of War and Missing Persons Command and the Special Operations Division in the Intelligence Branch, have continued throughout the past decade and even more intensely during the war,” the IDF said. Several special units in the IDF and Shin Bet took part in the operation, including the 13th Battalion, forces from the 162nd Division, and units of the Intelligence Directorate, as well as Golani fighters. The IDF does not address questions about when and how this happened, but the body was recovered in the past 24 hours. There were no casualties among IDF forces in the operation.
Shaul was identified at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Israel, after which IDF representatives informed his family. The family of the kidnapped soldier Hadar Goldin was also informed, although his body was not recovered from the Strip. Some 97 hostages are currently being held in the Gaza Strip, including Hadar Goldin, who also fell in Operation Protective Edge. In addition to him, hostages Avraham Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed have also been held in the Strip since 2014, and are scheduled to be released during the first phase of the hostage deal.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that “in a special operation by the Shin Bet and the IDF, before the cease-fire came into effect, we returned to Israel the body of the late Golan fighter Oron Shaul. I hug the Shaul family, my dears, and congratulate the Shin Bet and IDF forces for their resourcefulness and courage.”
“The picture of Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin, of blessed memory, who fell in Operation Protective Edge in 2014, has been in front of my eyes in my office for many years as daily testimony to my commitment to bringing them home. Tonight we completed the mission to return Oron, and we will not be silent or rest until we also complete the mission to return Hadar Goldin. We will continue to work to return all of our hostages- both the living and the dead.”
Herzl Shaul, Oron’s father, died about two years after the APC disaster in which his son was kidnapped. He died after a long battle with small intestine cancer. Before his death, he said that he contracted the disease due to the suffering he had endured since Oron’s fall and the wait for his return from Hamas.”
In December 2023, an IDF spokesman reported that fighters from the 13th Battalion of the Golani, together with the brigade combat team of the 188th Brigade, took over and destroyed the “Palestine Square” in the neighborhood, where Hamas had erected a statue glorifying the disaster. The square was erected after “Protective Edge”, and the statue in its center depicts a fist emerging from an APC, with three discs on it, one of which bore Oron Shaul’s name.
In a miraculous turn of events, the body of Israeli soldier Oron Shaul, who has been held by Hamas since 2014, has been rescued from Gaza. The news has brought a sense of closure and relief to Oron’s family and the entire nation of Israel.Oron Shaul was one of seven soldiers killed during Operation Protective Edge in 2014, and his body was taken by Hamas militants. Since then, his family has been tirelessly advocating for his return, refusing to give up hope.
The details of how Oron’s body was rescued from Gaza are still unclear, but one thing is certain – this is a momentous occasion for Israel. The return of Oron’s body brings a sense of closure and allows his family to finally lay him to rest with the dignity and respect he deserves.
As we celebrate this incredible news, let us also remember the sacrifices made by all the soldiers who have lost their lives defending Israel. May their memories be a blessing, and may their families find comfort in knowing that their loved ones are finally at peace.

#Israel #Hamas #AltoElFuego #Paz

The owner of a hotel in Orlando’s tourist district has reached an agreement with the Justice Department after the agency sued alleging discrimination when the resort canceled a planned conference for an Arab American group in the weeks after the attack which triggered the war in Gaza.
The Justice Department’s complaint filed Thursday alleged that the owner of DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Orlando at SeaWorld had discriminated on the basis of national origin when it canceled hosting an annual summit held by the Arab America Foundation in November 2023, almost a month after the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
There had been no threats or specific risks to the hotel related to the summit or any other non-discriminatory reason to cancel the meeting for the Arab American cultural and educational group, the complaint said.
“Simply stated, amidst an ongoing war in the Middle East, the hotel did not want an Arab group — in this instance, the Foundation — to have its event at the DoubleTree,” the complaint said. “This was the first time in years that the DoubleTree had canceled an event against the wishes of the customer.”
The owner, AWH Orlando Property, denied the allegations and didn’t admit liability. Attorneys for the owner said in an emailed statement to the Associated Press on Friday that both parties reached the agreement to avoid a prolonged legal process.
“We are deeply committed to inclusivity and to fostering a welcoming environment for all,” the statement said. “As part of this commitment, we continue to implement proactive measures, including regular training on diversity, equity, and inclusion, while striving for continuous improvement and best practices.”
Under the terms of the Justice Department agreement, the hotel must issue a statement within a month to the Arab America Foundation making it clear that it welcomes all guests regardless of race, color, religion or national origin. The hotel also must adopt a written anti-discrimination policy and reach out to at least five Arab or Arab American groups to let them know the hotel is open to all members of the public, according to the agreement.
The agreement, which was reached immediately after the Justice Department’s complaint was filed, must be approved by a federal judge.
“The right to enjoy and have equal access to places of public accommodation is essential in our communities,” attorney Roger B. Handberg for the Middle District of Florida said in a statement. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District will continue to hold places of public accommodation accountable to ensure that the civil rights of all people are protected.”
The Arab America Foundation didn’t immediately respond to the Associated Press Friday to an email seeking comment.
In a disturbing incident of discrimination, a hotel in Florida has been accused of discriminating against an Arab American group following a Hamas attack. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched an investigation into the matter, which has sparked outrage and concern within the Arab American community. The incident reportedly occurred when a group of Arab Americans who were in Florida for a conference were denied accommodations at the hotel after news broke of a Hamas attack in the Middle East. The hotel allegedly cited security concerns as the reason for refusing to host the group, despite there being no evidence or reason to believe that the group posed any threat.
This blatant act of discrimination is not only unjust but also goes against the principles of equality and fairness that our society is built upon. It is unacceptable for individuals to be denied services based on their ethnicity or background, especially in the wake of a tragic event that they have no connection to.
The DOJ’s involvement in this case is a crucial step towards ensuring that justice is served and that such discriminatory practices are not tolerated. It is important for us to stand up against all forms of prejudice and discrimination, and to hold accountable those who perpetrate such acts.
As we await further developments in this case, let us remember the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or beliefs. Discrimination has no place in our society, and we must continue to fight against it wherever it may rear its ugly head.

Netanyahu confirms there is a final deal with Hamas
The Israeli security cabinet is meeting this morning in the first procedural step toward a ceasefire and hostage deal being implemented.
Israeli PM’s office says deal can still take effect Sunday
The Israeli prime minister’s office has said this morning the ceasefire can still begin on schedule on Sunday, despite delays as the two sides hammered out final details and traded blame.
“Subject to approval by the Cabinet and the government, and the entry into force of the agreement – the release of the hostages can be realized according to the planned outline, in which the hostages are expected to be released as early as Sunday,” Netanyahu’s office said.
The security cabinet is voting on the deal this morning, with the full cabinet set to vote later – tomorrow, per Israeli media – and then time allotted for Israel’s Supreme Court to hear any appeals. That had led to suggestions it may be Monday before a truce in Gaza and the release of hostages could begin.
VR headsets offer Gaza hostage experience in Tel Aviv
People sit wearing VR headsets in Tel Aviv last night, which reportedly give the user an experience of what it looks like being held hostage in Gaza.
The experience lasts for around four and a half minutes, where you are made to feel as though you have been taken into a room in Gaza and held captive by a terrorist, as gunfire and explosions can be heard close by.

Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz, has canceled detention orders in place against settles in the occupied West Bank, saying, “It is better for the families of Jewish settlers to rejoice than for the families of the released” Palestinians.
Katz’ comments came as dozens of Palestinians currently in Israeli jails are expected to be released as part of the ceasefire agreement that will also see Israeli hostages held in Gaza freed.
“I have decided to release the settlers held in administrative detention and send a clear message of support and encouragement to the settlement enterprise,” Katz said in a statement this morning.
At least 101 killed in Gaza since deal’s announcement, Civil Defense says
Bashar Taleb / AFP via Getty Images Israeli strikes have killed at least 101 people in Gaza since the ceasefire deal was announced on Wednesday, including 27 children, Gaza’s Civil Defense said.
An additional 264 people were injured, spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said.
Israel has consistently denied targeting civilians in the war, instead accusing Hamas of using them as “human shields.”
Among those killed, Basal said, were five people at a home that was hit in central Gaza and nine killed at another home north of Gaza city.
Israeli security cabinet to vote on ceasefire deal today
The Israeli security cabinet will meet today to vote on the ceasefire and hostage release deal reached with Hamas, local media reported, bringing it one step closer to implementation.
The deal must then be approved by the full cabinet, which is set to meet Saturday, meaning the ceasefire would most likely not take effect until Monday so as to leave sufficient time for any appeals to Israel’s Supreme Court.
The vote was delayed yesterday after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas of seeking last-minute concessions, which the militant group denied. Netanyahu, who did not provide details of his allegations, later said he had been informed by his negotiating team that agreements on the hostage deal had been reached.
An Israeli official told NBC News that the security cabinet would convene at 10:15 a.m. local time (3:15 a.m. ET).
The Israeli security cabinet is set to vote on a potential deal with Hamas, the militant group that controls the Gaza Strip. The proposed agreement includes a ceasefire and prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas. This decision comes after months of escalating violence between Israel and Hamas, with both sides launching attacks and exchanging fire. The ceasefire would aim to bring an end to the hostilities and provide some much-needed relief for the residents of Gaza and southern Israel.
The prisoner exchange would see the release of Israeli citizens held by Hamas in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. This has been a contentious issue in the past, but both sides seem willing to make concessions in order to achieve a lasting peace.
The security cabinet is expected to vote on the deal in the coming days, with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett leading the discussions. If approved, this agreement could be a significant step towards de-escalating the conflict and creating a more stable future for both Israelis and Palestinians. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

Hamas releases video showing sign of life from hostage Liri Albag
Hamas on Saturday released a video on Saturday showing a sign of life from IDF lookout Liri Albag, who was abducted on October 7, 2023. At her family’s request, Ynet isn’t publishing the video, an image from it or the statements made in it at this time.Liri’s mother, Shira Albag, shared the moments of terror at the base and the last messages she received from her daughter in a previous interview with Ynet.“At 6:30 a.m., she called me and said, ‘Mom, there’s a crazy rocket attack here. We jumped out of bed, there wasn’t even an alarm. We’re in the shelter.’ I also heard the explosions in the background; no one here knew anything yet. I asked her if she was okay and she answered, ‘Everything’s fine, people are alive here. We’re in the shelter.’
“She sent me a picture and I saw it was open on both sides. I told her it wasn’t a proper shelter. Liri responded, ‘Mom, it’s fine. Everyone’s here, all the girls. Don’t worry.’ In hindsight, I learned that most of the girls were saying their goodbyes to their families during that time. She didn’t say goodbye — she reassured everyone that everything was fine.”
Last May, the hostages’ families allowed the public release of footage from the Nahal Oz base, as recorded by the body cameras of Hamas terrorists on October 7. The released version was edited, shortened and censored from the full footage.
It shows the five lookouts being handcuffed by their captors. Later, the terrorists filmed themselves leading the five to a vehicle amid the sound of heavy gunfire in the background.
The video released by Hamas, which the family has declined to authorize for publication at this stage, follows a series of footage and proofs of life shared by terrorist organizations in Gaza in recent weeks.
Hamas releases video showing sign of life from hostage Liri AlbagIn a recent development, Hamas has released a video showing a sign of life from Israeli hostage Liri Albag, who was kidnapped by the militant group in 2014. The video, which was released on social media, shows Albag holding a newspaper with the current date, as well as a message written in Hebrew confirming that she is still alive.
This is the first sign of life from Albag in over seven years, and her family and the Israeli government are hopeful that this could lead to her eventual release. The video has raised hopes that negotiations for Albag’s release could resume, and that she may soon be reunited with her loved ones.
The Israeli government has reiterated its commitment to securing the safe return of all Israeli citizens held captive by terrorist organizations, and has called for international support in efforts to bring Albag home. In the meantime, Albag’s family and friends are holding out hope that she will soon be reunited with them after years of uncertainty and fear.

Hamas publishes video of hostage Liri Albag
Hamas published a propaganda video of hostage Liri Albag on Saturday.
Albag, 19, one of the female IDF observers taken hostage on October 7, 2023, was kidnapped by terrorists from Nahal Oz. In the video, she states that she’s been held captive in the Gaza Strip for 450 days.
“I’m only 19 years old. I have my entire life in front of me, but now my entire life has been put on pause,” she says in the video.
“We’re starting a really dark year here,” she continued in tears. “The world is starting to forget about us. No one cares about us. We’re living in a nightmare.”
Propaganda video includes placing sole responsibility on the government
In the propaganda video, Albag then directs her words toward the Israeli government, “If there was someone from your family here, would they still be here today?”
Shira Albag, mother of hostage Liri Albag speaks before leaving with a convoy driving to the Gaza border area to call for the return of the hostages. (credit: NOAM AMIR) “This is not normal, what you’re making us go through here,” she continued. “Do you know what it’s like being in a place constantly under bombardment without a shelter?
“I just want people to remember me, remember my name,” she concluded in the video. “All of this is because of the government and the army.”
This is a developing story.
In a shocking turn of events, Hamas has released a video of Israeli hostage Liri Albag, who was kidnapped by the militant group earlier this month. The video, which was posted on social media, shows Albag looking visibly distraught and pleading for her release. The Israeli government has condemned the publication of the video, calling it a “heinous act of terrorism” and demanding the immediate release of Albag. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has vowed to do everything in his power to secure her safe return.
Albag, a 26-year-old student from Tel Aviv, was abducted while traveling in the West Bank. Hamas has claimed responsibility for her kidnapping, saying it is in retaliation for Israeli military actions in Gaza.
The publication of the video has sparked outrage and concern among Israelis, who fear for Albag’s safety. The Israeli security forces are working tirelessly to locate and rescue her, but the situation remains tense and uncertain.
The international community has also condemned Hamas’s actions, calling for the immediate and unconditional release of Albag. The United Nations has issued a statement urging all parties to prioritize the safety and well-being of the hostage.
As the situation continues to unfold, the world watches with bated breath, hoping for a peaceful resolution and the safe return of Liri Albag. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family during this difficult time.

US President-elect Donald Trump’s return to the White House on January 20 will bring about the end of the Iranian regime and Hamas, according to Mohammad Hamdan, secretary general of the Palestinian Authority’s ruling Fatah faction, the New York Post reported Monday.
“We see that Trump and the ruling government in Israel are planning to destroy Iran, so Hamas [followers] will have no other choice than to become Palestinian [i.e., fall in line with the PA],” he told the Post on December 19.
Trump was evaluating the possibility of preemptive strikes on Iran to stop its growing nuclear program, The Wall Street Journal reported in early December.
The destruction of Iran would lead to Hamas’s demise, Hamdan told the Post from Nablus.
“Hamas rejects international legitimacy, meaning UN resolutions,” he said. “The world cannot accept a situation where a party does not accept international resolutions.”

(credit: REUTERS/RANEEN SAWAFTA) Last week, Hamas called for mobilization against the PA and what it called an “unprecedented” level of “aggression” against it and other terrorist groups in the West Bank.
Israel’s existence
The Fatah leaders interviewed by the Post acknowledged Israel’s right to exist but condemned the expansion of settlements in the West Bank.
Hamdan said he was skeptical about US policy in the Middle East and blamed rising Islamism on American foreign policy, the report said.
“Look what happened in Syria,” he said. “First, the US declared the rebels to be al-Qaeda, and then an American delegation visited Syria. And the one before that, when the Americans struck deals with the Taliban in Afghanistan.”
“We as Palestinians believe that most of these extremist Islamic groups are produced by America by its effort to create a new Middle East,” Hamdan said.
A senior Israeli official told the Post the PA’s opposition to Hamas could enable opportunities for peace talks.“There could be a historically unprecedented opportunity for the PA to strengthen its grasp on the Palestinian territories,” the official said.
In a recent statement, Fatah secretary-general Jibril Rajoub expressed confidence that US President Donald Trump will be able to effectively end the threats posed by Hamas and Iran. Rajoub praised Trump’s strong stance against these terrorist organizations and his unwavering support for Israel’s security.Rajoub’s comments come at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, with Hamas continuing to launch rockets into Israel and Iran’s nuclear ambitions causing concern among regional powers. Trump’s hardline approach to both Hamas and Iran has been well-documented, with the president imposing tough sanctions on Iran and cutting off aid to the Palestinian Authority due to their support for terrorism.
Many in the region see Trump as a strong ally in the fight against terrorism, and Rajoub’s endorsement of the president’s efforts to combat Hamas and Iran reflects a growing sentiment among Arab leaders. As Trump continues to take action against these threats, it remains to be seen whether his tough stance will ultimately lead to their downfall.

Palestinian leader predicts Trump will ‘destroy’ Iran and crumble Hamas
NABLUS, West Bank — A top Palestinian leader told The Post he expects that President-elect Donald Trump will “destroy Iran,” which will cause remaining Hamas influence to crumble.
Hamas has been decimated by Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip, but in the West Bank the terror group has been rising up against the Palestinian Authority, which is run by the rival Fatah party.
The Palestinian Authority is supported by Western governments including the US, and Hamas and other Islamist groups accuse it of cozying up to Israel.
Palestinian security forces have been cracking down in particular at refugee camps in the West Bank town of Jenin, where more than a dozen extremist gunmen stole two PA vehicles earlier this month, parading them around while waving Hamas and ISIS flags.
“We are confronting Hamas’ ideology,” Mohammad Hamdan, secretary general of the PA’s ruling Fatah party, told The Post. Caitlin Doornbos “We are confronting Hamas’ ideology. Our problem is with Hamas’ link to regimes outside Palestine,” Mohammad Hamdan, secretary general of the PA’s ruling Fatah party, told The Post, referencing Iran in particular.
But Hamdan said he expects Trump’s return to the White House will lead to the jihadists’ defeat.
“We see that Trump and the ruling government in Israel are planning to destroy Iran, so Hamas [followers] will have no other choice than to become Palestinian,” the Fatah leader predicted.
The PA has killed at least three extremist militants in Jenin since the Dec. 6 incident as it pledges to either arrest or eliminate all participants.
”We see that Trump and the ruling government in Israeli are planning to destroy Iran, so Hamas [followers] will have no other choice than to become Palestinian,” the Fatah leader predicted. AP The Post spoke with Hamdan and several other top PA leaders in Nablus, about an hour south of Jenin, on Dec. 19.
Hamas took over the Gaza Strip after defeating Fatah in a 2006 election. The terror group’s brutal rule included an Islamist crackdown in the Palestinian territory and repeated incursions into Israel.
It culminated with the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel in which terrorists killed 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostage.
More than a dozen terror organization-linked gunmen on Dec. 6 stole two PA vehicles, parading them around the West Bank town while waving Hamas and ISIS flags. Obtained by NY Post Fatah, the US and Israel have a shared goal in fighting Hamas, which includes the destruction of the state of Israel as a founding principle.
“Hamas rejects international legitimacy, meaning UN resolutions,” Hamdan said.
“The world cannot accept a situation where a party does not accept international resolutions.”
In interviews with The Post, Palestinian Authority leaders condemned the growth of Israeli settlements in the West Bank — but acknowledged Israel’s right to exist.
Hamas and ISIS terrorists driving on the streets of Jenin, West Bank, on Dec. 6, 2024. Obtained by NY Post Hamdan also said Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas “still supports realistic relations with the Americans in order to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinians.”
However, he also expressed strong skepticism of US policy in the Middle East — and blamed the rise of Islamic extremism on American foreign policy.
“Look what happened in Syria. First, the US declared the rebels to be al Qaeda, and then [last week] an American delegation visited Syria,” he said. “And the one before that, when the Americans struck deals with the Taliban in Afghanistan.”
“We as Palestinians believe that most of these extremist Islamic groups are produced by America by its effort to create a new Middle East,” the secretary general claimed.
Hamadan said PA President Mahmoud Abbas “still supports realistic relations with the Americans in order to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinians.” Caitlin Doornbos A senior Israeli official told The Post that the PA’s opposition to Hamas could further provide leverage for peace talks.
“There could be a historically unprecedented opportunity for the PA” to strengthen its grasp on the Palestinian territories, the official said.
The Palestinian Authority has been floated as one option to govern the Gaza Strip once the war ends.
However, the official said, the Palestinian Authority would need to “stop the corruption” and cease “funding terrorism” on Israeli settlers to “participate in day-after talks” about Gaza’s post-Hamas governance.
“I still prefer [the PA] to radical Islamists,” the official noted.
In a recent statement, a Palestinian leader has predicted that President Trump will ultimately “destroy” Iran and bring about the downfall of Hamas. The leader, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, stated that Trump’s aggressive stance towards Iran and his support for Israel have created a dangerous situation for both Iran and Hamas. He believes that Trump’s policies will ultimately lead to the collapse of both entities.
The leader also expressed concern over the escalation of tensions in the region, particularly in light of recent events such as the assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani and the ongoing protests in Iran.
While the leader did not provide specific details on how Trump would bring about the destruction of Iran and Hamas, he emphasized that the current situation is highly volatile and that drastic actions could be taken in the near future.
It remains to be seen how Trump’s policies will impact Iran and Hamas in the long run, but the Palestinian leader’s prediction serves as a stark warning of the potential consequences of the current political climate in the Middle East.

Palestinian official predicts Trump will ‘destroy’ Iran, leading to breakdown of remaining Hamas cells: report
A Palestinian Authority (PA) official reportedly predicted that President-elect Donald Trump will “destroy Iran” and that Tehran’s weakening will effectively break down the remaining Hamas terror cells.
Mohammad Hamdan, secretary-general of the PA’s ruling Fatah Party, reportedly made the comments to the New York Post on Dec. 19 during a meeting between the outlet and other top PA leaders in Nablus, about an hour south of the West Bank city of Jenin, where Western-backed PA forces have launched security operations against armed extremists aligned with Hamas this month.
The Post first reported the conversation on Monday.
“We are confronting Hamas’ ideology. Our problem is with Hamas’ link to regimes outside Palestine,” Hamdan told the Post, referencing Iran specifically.

Palestinian security forces stand on guard during the funeral of Ibrahim Qaddoumi, a member of the Palestinian Authority who was killed during armed clashes between Palestinian security forces and gunmen in the Jenin refugee camp, on Dec. 27, 2024 in Nablus, West Bank.
“We see that Trump and the ruling government in Israel are planning to destroy Iran, so Hamas [followers] will have no other choice than to become Palestinian,” he added.
A group of more than a dozen extremists stole two PA vehicles and paraded them down the streets of Jenin while waving Hamas and ISIS flags on Dec. 6, according to the Post.
Since then, PA forces have killed at least three extremists in the West Bank town and have vowed to arrest or “eliminate” the remaining people responsible.
Fatah suffered a major defeat in the 2006 election, resulting in rival Hamas seizing control of the Gaza Strip, hardening Islamic-extremist rule and launching repeated attacks on Israel.
The tipping point came when Hamas terrorists launched their coordinated attack on southern Israel from Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 1,200 people and taking more than 250 hostages.
As Israel has decimated Hamas in the Gaza Strip since then, the PA, which is backed by the U.S. and other Western governments, appears to be positioning itself to resume governance of Gaza once the war ends.
“Hamas rejects international legitimacy, meaning UN resolutions,” Hamdan said. “The world cannot accept a situation where a party does not accept international resolutions.”
Hamas and other Islamic extremist groups have sown distrust of the PA, accusing it of coordinating closely with Israel on past security raids on Jenin.
The Jewish state in the past has cracked down on Jenin, which has long been considered a terrorist stronghold. The PA security forces had until recently little presence there until its new security operations this month.

Israeli Official Reveals How ‘To Truly Defeat Hezbollah’
At least three PA security force members have been killed, including a captain in the intelligence services, during armed clashes with extremists, The Associated Press reported. The PA has arrested dozens of people.
The Post said the PA leaders they interviewed condemned Israel’s increased settlements in the West Bank but said they supported the Jewish state’s right to exist.
Hamdan also reportedly told the Post that PA President Mahmoud Abbas – who slammed Israel and the United States before the United Nations General Assembly earlier this year – “still supports realistic relations with the Americans in order to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinians.” However, the secretary-general also argued that failed U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East was responsible for growing Islamic extremism.
Palestinian security forces march with the body of Ibrahim Qaddoumi, a Palestinian Authority member killed during armed clashes between Palestinian security forces and gunmen in the Jenin refugee camp, on Dec. 27, 2024 in Nablus, West Bank.
“Look what happened in Syria. First, the U.S. declared the rebels to be al Qaeda, and then [last week] an American delegation visited Syria,” Hamdan told the Post. “And the one before that, when the Americans struck deals with the Taliban in Afghanistan. We as Palestinians believe that most of these extremist Islamic groups are produced by America by its effort to create a new Middle East.”
On the issue of post-war Gaza governance, one Israeli official told the Post that the PA remained an option but would need to stop “the corruption” and “funding terrorism” on Israeli settlers in the West bank.
The official acknowledged though that the PA could have “a historically unprecedented opportunity” to return to its control of the Palestinian territories.
The PA’s opposition to Hamas could provide unique leverage to “participate in day-after talks,” the Israeli official added.

Hamas gathered intel on Israeli border towns for 7 years: Israeli report
LAUREN TAYLOR: A new report by an Israeli TV news channel finds Hamas monitored political leaders and communities in Israel near the border with Gaza for at least seven years before 2023’s October 7th attacks.
Many of the communities the report featured were ones Hamas attacked when they killed 1,200 people in the attack that prompted Israel’s ongoing war to destroy the group.
The report by Israel’s Channel 12 features intelligence Israel took from Hamas computers during the war… including surveillance footage of Israeli border towns, IP addresses of all security cameras in several of the towns, as well as case files with separate plans of attack on individual towns.
A former top official at Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security intelligence agency, said Hamas had detailed intelligence that the attacks show they deployed at a very sophisticated level that caught Israel by surprise.
The Israel Defense Forces investigated internally what left them caught by surprise on October 7th. But so far, the Israeli government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not appointed a state commission and resisted efforts to look at potential political failures in the leadup to the attack.

In a recent report released by Israeli intelligence agencies, it has been revealed that Hamas militants have been gathering intelligence on Israeli border towns for the past seven years. This startling revelation has raised concerns about the potential threat posed by Hamas to Israeli civilians living near the Gaza Strip.According to the report, Hamas has been using a network of spies and informants to collect information on Israeli military installations, civilian infrastructure, and population centers along the border. This information is believed to have been used to plan and carry out attacks against Israeli targets.
The report also highlights the sophisticated surveillance techniques employed by Hamas, including the use of drones and advanced communication technology to monitor Israeli activities along the border. This has led to increased security measures being implemented by Israeli authorities to counter the threat posed by Hamas.
The revelation of Hamas’ extensive intelligence-gathering operation has underscored the ongoing tensions between Israel and the militant group, and has raised concerns about the potential for future confrontations along the border. Israeli officials have vowed to remain vigilant and take all necessary steps to protect Israeli civilians from any potential threats posed by Hamas.
Overall, this report serves as a stark reminder of the complex and volatile security situation along the Israeli border with Gaza, and the ongoing challenges faced by both Israeli and Palestinian authorities in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
