Though this transmitter/receiver brand is generic, it's based on a current standard Qualcomm Bluetooth chip, mated to a small adjustable external antenna. Performance and range work well for my purposes, which is to update an older AV stereo for use with my cell phone. The case and antenna are plastic, but build quality seems fine. All necessary cables are included, which is a nice plus.

I set it to use as a receiver, which was quick and intuitive. The connection is consistent and sounds accurate, with no static, dropouts, or other issues. Note that this doesn't offer optical cable connectivity, so you have to physically connect via the included 3.5mm cable into a 3.5mm headphone jack, or use the male RCA right/left stereo cable into the female RCA ports of your device. Aside from that, the option to use it as a transmitter makes this a fairly versatile solution at a competitive price.

Bought this to replace my awful direct-to-USB transmitter. After trying a bunch of units, this is the only one I've found with decent USB audio drivers and a good antenna. I get nearly 40ft of indoor range before breakup, which is enough for me. USB media controls from my receiving headset work fine, so I can pause from anywhere. APTX Low Latency appears to be working as well.

Dropped one star because of a few quirks:

• It's obviously a generic unit with a brand printed onto it, you can find other instances of this transmitter elsewhere on amazon.

• The unit completely ignored Windows volume control when plugged into my front-facing USB ports. Volume defaulted to 100%, even on mute. This was fixed by plugging straight into the motherboard.

• The drivers seem to treat volume logarithmically. The jump in volume between 30-50% feels about the same as the jump from 60 to 62%, so be careful with that. I put a limiter on my sound to avoid any issues. I *think* the sound quality starts to degrade at the very top of the volume range, but I'd be going deaf at that point anyways.

This little adapter seems to do what it's intended to do. I would recommend it with a little advice: Throw away the instructions; they are way more complicated than necessary. Just play around with it for a few minutes; not too many ways it can go wrong. Just remember the small button by the display window to press twice for pairing. Hope this helps someone.
