Jon Moxley defeated Powerhouse Hobbs to retain the AEW World Title on this week’s Dynamite, and Mark Henry says he would have booked the match slightly differently. Henry weighed in on Wednesday’s main event match on Busted Open Radio and you can see the highlights below (per Wrestling Inc):
On how he would have laid it out: “If I was going to structure the match, I would’ve had Hobbs not get jumped. I would’ve had him go at Claudio. I’d have had him go at them guys and then in the process when he came in, the referee is getting everybody back and Marina throws the briefcase, he gets hits, briefcase slides, Moxley hits him with the finish and then you get a better finish.”
On the importance of booking good stories around the matches: “[For example,] I love how fast Darby [Allin] moves and how interesting his look is. But, if you don’t put a good story around Darby, it looks like, ‘Why did he bump off of that thing he did jumping backwards?’”
In a recent interview with Wrestling Inc., WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry shared his thoughts on how he would have booked the main event of AEW Dynamite.
Henry praised the current AEW roster for their talent and dedication to the craft, but he also offered some insight on how he would have approached booking the main event.
According to Henry, he would have focused on building up the storyline leading to the main event, putting emphasis on the personal rivalries and conflicts between the competitors. He also mentioned that he would have utilized more backstage segments and promos to further develop the characters and add depth to the storyline.
Henry emphasized the importance of creating a compelling narrative that would keep the audience engaged and invested in the match. He also stressed the significance of giving each wrestler their own time to shine and showcase their skills in the ring.
Overall, Mark Henry’s approach to booking AEW Dynamite’s main event would have been centered around storytelling, character development, and giving each wrestler the opportunity to showcase their talents. It’s clear that Henry’s experience and insight would have added a unique perspective to the creative process behind the show.

Marlee Matlin has counted Henry Winkler as a close friend for decades, as a new documentary about the Oscar-winning actress attests.
In director Shoshannah Stern’s new project, Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Thursday, Jan. 23, Matlin, 59, and Winkler, 79, reflect together, and in individual on-camera interviews, on their close friendship — which began when the Happy Days star saw a 12-year-old Matlin onstage in a Chicago variety show.
Speaking at PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly’s Shutterstock Official Sundance Film Festival Portrait Studio on Friday, Jan. 24, the Children of a Lesser God star recalls living with Winkler and wife Stacey Weitzman for two years after getting sober.
“I’m always so very grateful for that family who took me in at one of the worst times of my life, who helped me heal, who helped me learn to start all over again, who gave me the courage to be able to stand on my own two feet,” she tells PEOPLE via interpreter Jack Jason.
“He gave me the courage to say, ‘I can do it,’ as he would do with his own children and people he cares about,” Matlin adds. “If it were not for Henry, I don’t know where I’d be. Really. Henry Winkler and Stacey Winkler, his wife, are just godsends.”
Henry Winkler and Marlee Matlin at Matlin’s Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2009
Not Alone Anymore chronicles Matlin’s journey from her breakout as the youngest and first deaf best actress Academy Award winner, to the years following, when she fought for cultural representation of the deaf community onscreen. (The documentary’s title refers to a comment Matlin made after 2021 hit CODA and its deaf star Troy Kotsur earned Oscars 35 years after her historic win.)
In the doc, Winkler recalls his first encounter with the precocious Matlin and how their friendship evolved to the point of roommates. Included is footage from Matlin’s wedding in 1993 to husband Kevin Grandalski — which took place in Winkler and Weitzman’s backyard.
“That was great,” says Matlin with a smile. “A fun fact, to talk to people about how I got married at the Fonz‘s house. But actually I don’t see him as the Fonz. I see him as my family friend, a second father.”
“I have often seen [Matlin’s] story be compared to a Cinderella story,” Stern, 44, tells PEOPLE. “She was plucked from obscurity and sent to the Oscars. I always felt like that’s doing Marlee a disservice because Marlee has worked so hard.”
But, she quips, “Henry Winkler is definitely the fairy godmother.”
“Fairy godfather!” agrees Matlin.

Winkler is so integral to Matlin’s life that he’s already bonded with her daughter’s baby Brooklyn, who made Matlin a grandmother for the first time.
“That really gave me so much pleasure, to see the two of them meet,” she says. “It just gave me chills.”
Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore does not yet have a theatrical release date.
Marlee Matlin and Henry Winkler have been friends for decades, and their bond goes beyond just a typical Hollywood friendship. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, Matlin opened up about why she affectionately refers to Winkler as her “Fairy Godfather.”
The Oscar-winning actress explained that Winkler has been a constant source of support and guidance throughout her career, always offering words of wisdom and encouragement. She credits him with helping her navigate the ups and downs of the industry and providing invaluable advice on everything from acting to life in general.
“He’s always been there for me, in good times and bad. He’s like a guardian angel, looking out for me and cheering me on every step of the way,” Matlin shared. “He truly is my Fairy Godfather.”
Matlin and Winkler first met in the early 1980s when they were both rising stars in Hollywood, and their friendship has only grown stronger over the years. Winkler has been a mentor to Matlin, offering her guidance and support as she navigates the challenges of being a deaf actress in a predominantly hearing industry.
“He’s always believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. He’s been a constant source of inspiration and encouragement, and I am so grateful to have him in my life,” Matlin said.
As for Winkler, he is equally effusive in his praise for Matlin, calling her a “true talent and a dear friend.” He is proud to be able to support her in any way he can and has no doubt that she will continue to achieve great things in her career.
The bond between Matlin and Winkler is a testament to the power of friendship and the importance of having someone in your corner who believes in you unconditionally. As Matlin continues to make her mark in Hollywood, she knows that she can always count on her “Fairy Godfather” to be there, cheering her on every step of the way.

AEW often faces criticism from some of its former wrestlers and staff, while others continue to praise the company after leaving. Mark Henry signed with Tony Khan in May 2021 to work as a coach and commentator but decided to let his contract expire on May 28, 2024. The former WWE champion is very close with a few All Elite talents and is now speaking out on a recent key decision.
Powerhouse Hobbs recently returned from a year-plus injury hiatus with a Handicap Match squash on Dynamite. The one-time AEW TNT Champion then won a Casino Gauntlet to earn a shot at the World Championship, but he failed to dethrone Jon Moxley in the main event of last week’s inaugural Maximum Carnage Dynamite, losing in 13 minutes. Chaos unfolded after the match as The Death Riders attacked Hobbs until Rated FTR made the save.
The Embodiment of Willpower and The World’s Strongest Man have publicly discussed their relationship in previous interviews, with Henry referred to as “my wrestling dad” by Hobbs. While reviewing Dynamite on Busted Open Radio, the WWE Hall of Famer commented on how close they are, and expressed frustration over how the rising star was booked:
“Hobbs — I got interest in him. He’s like a son to me, he calls me dad. And I’m pissed that my son got treated like s**t,” Mark Henry said. [H/T to WrestlingInc]
Henry noted how Rated FTR took too long to make the save for Hobbs. The former ECW Champion also expressed concern over Hobbs’ future after the loss to Moxley, and the loss to International Champion Konosuke Takeshita at Worlds End:
“He could’ve came out a lot better and it would’ve been better for them — they would’ve made money. I’m not gonna cut my hand off to spite my arm. Just wash your hands of somebody if that’s how you feel about them. … I hope I never hate somebody so much that I would rather see them fail on my TV than to have them win and be successful on my TV. It’s a damn shame,” Mark Henry said.
The Dynamite angle led to Hobbs teaming with Rated FTR and The Outrunners on Saturday’s Maximum Carnage Collision episode. They defeated The Death Riders and The Learning Tree in 12-man tag team action.
Updated AEW Homecoming lineup
AEW’s fourth Homecoming special episode will air as its inaugural Collision edition. The company will return to its homebase of Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, FL on Saturday for the live Collision Homecoming episode. Below is the updated lineup:
Mariah May and Toni Storm will face-off ahead of Grand Slam
Brody King and Buddy Matthews vs. Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona
Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong vs. Daniel Garcia, Daddy Magic, and Cool Hand Ang
AEW held the first-ever Homecoming as a Dynamite special in January 2020, then in August 2021. The series continued in January 2024 with a two-night event on Dynamite and Rampage.

Former WWE superstar Mark Henry expressed his frustration with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) for the booking decisions surrounding one of their top stars. In a recent interview, Henry criticized the way the company has been handling the career of the wrestler, stating that they are not giving him the opportunities and respect he deserves.
Henry, who currently works as a coach and talent scout for AEW, did not hold back in expressing his disappointment with the way the top star has been treated. He believes that the wrestler has all the potential to be a major player in the company, but that AEW is not utilizing him properly.
Fans have been speculating about who Henry could be referring to, with many pointing to a few key AEW stars who have not been receiving the push they deserve. The wrestling community is abuzz with speculation about what this could mean for the future of AEW and its top talent.

– During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer and former AEW broadcaster Mark Henry critiqued AEW’s recent booking of Powerhouse Hobbs. During the following 12-man tag match on Collision last week, Henry believes Cope and FTR took too long to help Hobbs in the bout. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):
Mark Henry on Powerhouse Hobbs: “Hobbs — I got interest in him. He’s like a son to me. He calls me dad. And I’m pissed that my son got treated like s***.”
On how AEW will handle Hobbs after his loss against Jon Moxley: “He could’ve came out a lot better and it would’ve been better for them — they would’ve made money. I’m not gonna cut my hand off to spite my arm. Just wash your hands of somebody if that’s how you feel about them. … I hope I never hate somebody so much that I would rather see them fail on my TV than to have them win and be successful on my TV. It’s a damn shame.”
On last week’s AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage, Hobbs lost against Jon Moxley in a world title bout. Later on AEW Collision: Maximum Carnage that week, Hobbs managed to pick up a win over The Death Riders and The Learning Tree in a 12-man Tag Team Match.
Former WWE Superstar and Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently spoke out about All Elite Wrestling’s booking of Powerhouse Hobbs. In an interview with Busted Open Radio, Henry criticized AEW for not fully utilizing the potential of the powerhouse wrestler.
Henry expressed his disappointment in AEW’s handling of Hobbs, stating that they have not capitalized on his immense talent and physical abilities. He pointed out that Hobbs has all the tools to be a top star in the company, but AEW has failed to give him the proper opportunities to shine.
“I see Powerhouse Hobbs and I see a guy who can be a major player in this business,” Henry said. “But AEW is not doing him justice. They need to push him to the moon and showcase what he can do in the ring.”
Henry also mentioned that AEW should focus on building up Hobbs as a dominant force in the company, similar to how they have done with other big men like Lance Archer and Brian Cage. He believes that Hobbs has the potential to be a main event player and should be given more high-profile matches and storylines.
Fans have also been vocal about their frustrations with AEW’s treatment of Hobbs, with many calling for the company to give him a bigger push. It remains to be seen if AEW will take Henry’s critique to heart and start booking Powerhouse Hobbs in a more prominent role in the company.

Last week, on “AEW Dynamite,” Powerhouse Hobbs challenged Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship but came up short. At the show’s end, Moxley and the rest of the Death Riders teamed up against Hobbs until Adam Copeland and FTR came down to make the save. Speaking on “Busted Open Radio,” former AEW talent Mark Henry spoke about his close relationship with Hobbs while sharing his displeasure for how the wrestler has been booked.
“Hobbs — I got interest in him,” Henry said. “He’s like a son to me. He calls me dad. And I’m pissed that my son got treated like s**t.”
One of Henry’s qualms was the fact that Copeland, Dax Harwood, and Cash Wheeler took too long to make their way to the ring to help Hobbs. Along with that, Henry is worried about how the company will book Hobbs after taking two losses in significant title matches.
“He could’ve came out a lot better and it would’ve been better for them — they would’ve made money,” Henry continued. “I’m not gonna cut my hand off to spite my arm. Just wash your hands of somebody if that’s how you feel about them. … I hope I never hate somebody so much that I would rather see them fail on my TV than to have them win and be successful on my TV. It’s a damn shame.”
For much of 2024, Hobbs was kept on the shelf due to a knee injury, but the 33-year-old made his return to AEW in November. He began by feuding with The Don Callis Family, picking up on story threads involving his former association with the group. That culminated with Hobbs losing to Konosuke Takeshita at AEW Worlds End, though he later went on to win a Casino Gauntlet match earlier this month to earn his shot against Moxley.

Former WWE Superstar Mark Henry recently revealed in an interview that AEW star Jungle Boy is like a son to him. Henry, who serves as a coach and mentor to many young wrestlers, spoke highly of Jungle Boy’s talent and work ethic.
In the interview, Henry praised Jungle Boy’s in-ring abilities and his dedication to the craft of professional wrestling. He also mentioned that he has taken Jungle Boy under his wing and has been helping him navigate the world of professional wrestling.
Fans of AEW and Jungle Boy are sure to be excited to hear about the close relationship between the two wrestlers. It’s always heartwarming to see veteran wrestlers passing on their knowledge and experience to the next generation of talent.
With Mark Henry’s guidance and support, Jungle Boy is sure to continue to thrive in AEW and reach new heights in his career.
Flick hailed his team after the match for a great win, but Henry feels it wasn’t a great game.
“As a coach, when I would have arrived in the dressing room, I would not be happy with what has happened,” he said on CBS Sports.
“To come back in this way is surprising, but there have been many mistakes in the goals, it cannot be considered a great game.
“Barcelona should have more control, if you analyse it, at first glance you look at the desire, the comeback and that you have done well, but conceding four goals is not normal.
“If I had been a coach, I would go crazy, I wouldn’t have accepted to concede so many goals.”
Thierry Henry, former footballer and current pundit, has expressed his dissatisfaction with Barcelona’s recent 4-2 victory over Benfica in the Champions League. In a post titled ‘Conceding four is not normal’, Henry criticized Barcelona’s defensive performance and highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong backline in order to be successful in top-level football.
The Frenchman, who has played for top clubs like Arsenal and Barcelona during his career, knows the importance of solid defending and believes that conceding four goals in a single game is simply not acceptable for a team of Barcelona’s caliber.
Henry’s comments come at a time when Barcelona are struggling to find their form and consistency under new manager Xavi Hernandez. The Spanish giants have been leaky at the back this season, conceding goals at an alarming rate in both La Liga and the Champions League.
While Barcelona were able to secure a victory against Benfica, Henry’s words serve as a reminder that defensive solidity is crucial for any team with ambitions of success at the highest level of football. If Barcelona are to compete for silverware this season, they will need to improve their defensive performances and cut out the mistakes that have cost them dearly in recent matches.

A majority of the U.S. is bracing for life-threatening cold thanks to a polar vortex that will invade the nation starting this weekend, and that means that Inauguration Day on Monday could be among the coldest experienced in decades.
WASHINGTON – March 4, 1841, is remembered as more than just a bitterly cold and wet day in Washington, D.C. Those weather conditions have come to be associated with one of the most infamous presidential inauguration ceremonies in American history and are blamed for the demise of President William Henry Harrison, who served the shortest presidency in American history.
The National Weather Service said Harrison’s Inauguration Day began with a morning low of 34 degrees and eventually reached 51 degrees in the afternoon. While it rained, there are no reliable records that show how much rain fell that day.

But President-elect Harrison wore no hat, coat or gloves when he received the Oath of Office to become the 9th President of the United States of America. Standing in the cold and the rain, the 68-year-old delivered what remains the longest inauguration speech in U.S. history at 8,445 words, taking just under two hours, according to the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.
While most early presidents rode a carriage to their inauguration, Harrison rode from the White House to the Capitol on the back of a white horse surrounded by close political allies, according to the JCCIC.

An exhibit from the Library of Congress records that President Harrison then went on to attend three different inaugural balls that evening.
The bad weather is blamed for President Harrison catching a cold, which led to pneumonia and Harrison’s death exactly one month later.
‘Tippecanoe and Tyler Too’ and Succession
Due to his shortened presidency, Harrison is widely remembered for his 1840 campaign slogan “Tippecanoe and Tyler Too,” regarded by many historians as one of the most popular slogans in American political history.
The slogan was the title of a campaign song that highlighted Harrison’s military accomplishments.
He was remembered for his role in leading the American army in the Battle of Tippecanoe, a conflict between US forces in Indiana and the native Shawnee Tribe.

Harrison served in the War of 1812 and rose to the rank of Major General in the U.S. Army. He was also the son of one of the Founding Fathers, Benjamin Harrison V.
President Harrison was the first of four presidents to belong to the Whig Party.
At 68 years old, Harrison was the oldest President to take the Oath of Office until President Ronald Reagan in 1981.
President Harrison’s death also marked the first time in American history that the Vice-President, then John Tyler, assumed the presidency intra-term.
New research on President Harrison’s death
President Harrison’s official cause of death by his doctor was listed as pneumonia. But a paper published in the October 2014 issue of the journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases published by Oxford Academic claims that President Harrison’s death was caused by an enteric fever brought on by the poor sanitation conditions in Washington, D.C. at the time.
The journal asserts that after reviewing documents, Harrison’s symptoms were more consistent with that of a fever and he first consulted his physician on March 26, three weeks after the inauguration.

The study also notes that two other presidents of that era, President James Polk and President Zachary Taylor developed symptoms similar to Harrison’s.
President Taylor died 16 months into his term from gastroenteritis.
President Harrison was laid to rest near his home in North Bend, Ohio in July 1841.
After the 22nd Amendment was ratified in 1933, the calendar date for the Presidential Inauguration was moved from March 4 to January 20 to reduce the transition period between Election Day and Inauguration Day.
On March 4, 1841, President William Henry Harrison gave the longest inaugural address in history, lasting nearly two hours. Unfortunately, the weather on that fateful day was bitterly cold and rainy, with temperatures hovering around freezing. Harrison, determined to show his strength and resilience, refused to wear a coat or hat during his speech.
Just 31 days later, on April 4, 1841, President Harrison fell ill with what was believed to be pneumonia. Despite the best efforts of his doctors, Harrison’s condition quickly deteriorated, and he passed away on April 4, 1841, making him the first president to die in office.
Many historians believe that the harsh weather on Inauguration Day likely played a significant role in Harrison’s untimely death. The cold and wet conditions undoubtedly weakened his immune system and made him more susceptible to illness.
The tragic story of President William Henry Harrison serves as a reminder of the importance of taking care of our health, even in the face of adversity. It also highlights the unpredictable and sometimes deadly nature of weather, especially during important events like presidential inaugurations.
