  • Bills’ Von Miller Confirms Plan to Stop Derrick Henry as Lamar Jackson Rejects Josh Allen’s Friendship

The Ravens will visit the Bills at an AFC divisional playoff showdown on Jan 19. And this is the game ahead of the game—THE MIND GAME. A face-off between MVP favorites, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, will make for the craziest storylines in the making, yes. But for 35-year-old LB Von Miller to be facing his 31-year-old workout buddy RB Derrick Henry, scheming against the El Tractorcito did not necessarily mean digging up facts and stats but simply erred on the side of caution!

But we do understand Miller’s urgency to plot. At 31, the guy’s defying every law of football physics. According to Pro Football Focus, Henry’s 2024 season was his best ever: 325 carries, 1,921 yards, and 18 touchdowns. Not bad for someone supposedly past his prime, right? Miller, the man tasked with stopping this freight train, had some thoughts.

“Me and Derrick Henry are exactly the same size, as far as height and weight. I think my 40 time was a little bit faster, I think he jumps a little bit higher, though I got a lot of respect for Derrick. We work out together in Dallas in the offseason, so it’s you gotta have population,” Miller joked on the Rich Eisen Show. Translation: it’s not a one-man job. And why not? After all, Henry is a running back who can make a linebacker appear ‘normal’! And guess what? not just looks, even numbers support that. Look back to 2016, the year Henry was drafted.

    Article continues below this ad

After Henry’s impressive workout, The NFL Network flashed a graphic showing the running back’s closest NFL comparison by combine workout. Not Eddie Lacy, Adrian Peterson, or Marshawn Lynch. But it was none other than the then-Denver Broncos Von Miller! Many had initially thought that it was a mistake. Take a look at the detailed side-by-side stats.

    Henry Miller
    Year 2016 2011
    Height 6′ 2 5/8″ 6′ 2 5/8″
    Weight 247 246
    40-yard dash 4.54 4.53
    Bench Press 22 21
    Vertical 37 37
    Broad jump 1010 1006

Long story short: tackling Henry is like trying to bring down a linebacker. For instance, back in 2015, Henry had once flipped over Michigan State defensive lineman Shilique Calhoun with a vicious stiff-arm and it was so hard that Calhoun front flipped to the ground. There are two possible explanations for this.

Either Henry was strong enough after 20 carries and 75 yards against the Michigan State defense that he could lift an All-Big Ten defensive end and toss him to the ground like a doll, or Calhoun was finally so tired of trying to tackle the Heisman Trophy winner that he tried to take him down with Guile’s flash kick from Street Fighter II Turbo. Either way, it didn’t end well for Calhoun.

Well, Von Miller does not necessarily need to dig up these facts and stats. Because he knows firsthand how tough Henry is—they work out together at the SandersFit Performance Center in Dallas. And apparently, Henry’s a beast not just on the field but in the gym, too.

“Keeping up with him in the weight room is harder than the football field,” Miller admitted. The guy’s got multiple workouts a day, a recovery routine that sounds straight out of a sci-fi movie, and an intensity level that’s borderline terrifying. No wonder he runs like a man possessed every Sunday.

    via Imago

Remember back in September when Henry and Jackson tag-teamed the Cowboys for a clutch Ravens 28-25 win? Henry ran for 151 yards and two TDs, while Jackson did his usual MVP magic. Yup, the same game that opened yet another chapter in Jerry Jones’ playbook of ‘What Ifs & Almosts’ as he later admitted, they couldn’t afford Henry. Yeah, no kidding, Jerry… sigh.

Now, as the Bills and Ravens prepare to clash, Miller sums it up perfectly. “They’re hot, we’re hot, and this is what the divisional round is all about.” Do you feel that? That’s the fire. And it’s about to ignite.

Von Miller knows a little ‘TWO’ much about Super Bowl

Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson—rivals or kindred spirits? You decide. Sure, they’re ducking it out, but isn’t it wild how similar their journeys are? Neither has made it to the Super Bowl yet and at this point, we just can’t get tired of taking his name. Of course, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Combined, Allen and Jackson are 0-4 against KC in the playoffs. That just sums it up for almost most of the teams, if not all!

But here we are, and the chatter is deafening. Jackson’s chasing his third MVP, while Allen’s gunning for his first. Yet both quarterbacks want none of the drama. “In the history of football, I’ve never played against another quarterback,” Allen quipped, brushing off comparisons. Jackson? He’s more direct: “I’m trying to beat you. I’m not trying to be your friend.” Straight fire.

See, the thing is, without any doubt, the numbers are favoring the Purple Pain signal-caller. But if the Mafia’s favorite does go the distance, don’t wallow to see the votes going in Allen’s pool.

Now, let’s talk about the man who has been to the promised land: Von Miller. Two Super Bowl rings a Super Bowl MVP trophy, and a knack for making QBs sweat. Miller’s faced legends, but he’s not underestimating Lamar. “You don’t want to rush too conservative, but you don’t want to be reckless either,” he explained. Sounds simple, but against Jackson, it’s like threading a needle in a hurricane.

Miller’s plan? Channel advice from Maxx Crosby, another Lamar-stopper. “You can’t rush scared,” Crosby said. “Respect him, but don’t fear him.” That’s the vibe: calculated aggression. Because let’s be real. If you let Lamar roam, he’s running wild.

But hey, the Ravens aren’t just about Jackson. Derrick Henry’s in the mix, and Miller knows the danger. The Bills, with their Super Bowl drought, have a chance to rewrite history. With Miller anchoring their defense, they’ve got a shot. As Miller put it, “You just gotta make a few more plays.” Seems like he’s got the trick to pull a rabbit out of the hat. One, that Allen and Buffalo would be hoping it works on D-DAY!

The upcoming matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans has been heating up as Bills’ linebacker Von Miller confirms his plan to stop Titans’ running back Derrick Henry.

Miller, known for his fierce pass rush and ability to disrupt opposing offenses, is setting his sights on shutting down Henry, one of the most dominant running backs in the league. With Henry’s powerful running style and ability to break tackles, Miller’s task will not be easy. However, the Bills’ defense is up for the challenge as they look to contain Henry and secure a victory against the Titans.

In a separate development, Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson has rejected an offer of friendship from Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen. The two young quarterbacks have faced off on the field in the past, with Allen leading the Bills to victory over Jackson and the Ravens. Despite their competitive rivalry, Allen extended an olive branch to Jackson, but the Ravens’ quarterback declined, stating that he is focused solely on winning games and not making friends with his opponents.

As tensions rise and players prepare for the upcoming game, fans can expect an intense battle between the Bills and the Titans, with Miller aiming to stop Henry and Jackson rejecting Allen’s friendship offer. Stay tuned for what promises to be an exciting matchup between two talented teams.

Voltron is based on the 1980s animated TV series that followed a team of space explorers who pilot a giant super robot known as Voltron, and was adapted from several Japanese anime TV series by Toei Animation.

The details of the plot are still unclear, as the cast, crew, and Amazon studio have all remained tight-lipped about how the storyline plays out.

According to Deadline, Amazon went into a bidding war with Universal and Warner Bros. in 2022 in order to secure the right to the production.

After winning the bidding war to secure the rights last August, Amazon took about three months to reveal Quinn-Toye had been cast in a lead role in early October.

The premise for Voltron centers on five young pilots in a battalion named the Robot Lions, which are vehicles that join together to form the mega-robot.

Of course, most people know Cavill for playing the role of Superman/Clark Kent in the DC Extended Universe, including: Man Of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Justice League (2017), Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021), along with cameos in Black Adam (2022), The Flash (2023), and Deadpool & Wolverine (2024).

The British actor has also had success in non-superhero roles in both film and television such as Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005), Stardust (2007), Immortals (2011), Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018), Enola Holmes (2020), Enola Holmes 2 (2022), and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024).

On the small screen side his resume features main roles in the hit series The Tudors (2007-2010), which ran on Showtime for four seasons, and The Witcher (2019-2023), following its three season run on Netflix.

Cavill has appeared in two spy-action comedies this year. Matthew Vaughn’s Argyle features a star-studded ensemble cast such as Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson

  • Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry has a non-expressive response to being selected to the Pro Bowl

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry has a non-expressive response to being selected to the Pro Bowl

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry is one of the best players in the NFL and his explosiveness makes for some of the best highlights in the league.

In his first season with the Ravens (he played eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans), the former Alabama player will go to his third straight Pro Bowl.Henry has the second-most rushing yards in the NFL (1,783), only trailing Philadelphia Eagles’ Saquon Barkley (2,005).

Both averaged 5.8 yards per carry this season. Henry’s 14 rushing touchdowns are tied for the second-most in the league, only behind Buffalo’s James Cook (15). He paced the Ravens‘ second-ranked rushing attack, which has averaged 185.6 yards per game, just a tick behind the Eagles‘ 187.3.

“The King” signed in Baltimore this offseason and had his most productive season since 2020, proving that he is still a powerful weapon in his 30s.

Henry’s not impressed with being selected to the Pro Bowl

The Baltimore Ravens posted a video where the team’s General Manager, Eric DeCosta, tells Derrick Henry that he’s been selected to the Pro Bowl for all of his hard work during the 2024 season. “After the season you’ve had, I mean it’s expected.” DeCosta said.

The running back’s reaction? Priceless. “Cool.” Henry says, and then goes on to hear about who else got selected to the Pro Bowl. The player even looks more happy and excited for his teammates. DeCosta acknowledges that Derrick’s reaction might be due to the fact that the player is looking for the ultimate goal: to win his first Super Bowl.

“We got bigger things to do, obviously.” the General Manager added. Even though the Baltimore Ravens are one of the NFL’s most consistent teams with a winning mentality, they haven’t been able to get to the Super Bowl since 2013, when they beat the San Francisco 49ers to get their second championship (the first one was Super Bowl XXXV in 2001 against the New York Giants).

The Ravens have the mos Pro Bowlers in the league

Baltimore have a whopping nine Pro Bowlers on this year’s roster, the most in the league. The Detroit Lions have the second-most Pro Bowlers with seven and the Minnesota Vikings (six), Philadelphia Eagles (six), Kansas City Chiefs (five) and Dallas Cowboys (five) are the other teams with at least five Pro Bowlers.

The Ravens’ nine Pro Bowlers are the most they’ve had since 2019, when they tied the record with 13.

Baltimore had seven Pro Bowlers last season when it went 14-2 and were the AFC’s top seed entering the playoffs. Thursday’s Pro Bowl announcement is another point in the argument that this year’s team may be even better.

The Ravens’ only first-time Pro Bowlers is wide receiver Zay Flowers, who made history in his second season after topping 1,000 receiving yards. He is the first Raven to make the Pro Bowl as a wide receiver.

The Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry has been selected to the Pro Bowl, but his reaction was far from celebratory. In a recent interview, Henry gave a non-expressive response to the news, simply stating, “It’s an honor, but I’m just focused on the next game.”

Many fans were surprised by Henry’s lack of enthusiasm, as being selected to the Pro Bowl is a significant achievement in the NFL. However, it seems that Henry is staying true to his humble and focused demeanor, choosing to prioritize the team’s success over individual accolades.

Despite his nonchalant response, there is no denying Henry’s talent and impact on the field. As one of the top running backs in the league, Henry has been a key player for the Ravens and has consistently delivered exceptional performances throughout the season.

While some may have expected a more enthusiastic reaction from Henry, his dedication to the game and team-first mentality are qualities that are sure to continue to make him a valuable asset to the Ravens. Congratulations to Derrick Henry on his Pro Bowl selection, and best of luck to him and the Ravens as they continue their pursuit of a championship title. #Ravens #DerrickHenry #ProBowl

  • Baltimore Ravens’ Derrick Henry Can Hit Huge Incentive vs. Browns

Baltimore Ravens’ Derrick Henry Can Hit Huge Incentive vs. Browns

Derrick Henry has had an outstanding first season with the Baltimore Ravens, and he has a chance to add to it in Saturday’s regular season finale.

With 1,783 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns, Henry has been one of the best running backs in the league this season. Along the way, he’s picked up some nice incentives for his prodctuon. The former Offensive Player of the Year earned $500,000 each for hitting 1,200 rushing yards, 1,500 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns.

According to Forbes, Henry can pick up another $500,000 if he can score another rushing touchdown in Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, bringing him to 15 on the season.

“Henry already has cashed in in his first season in Baltimore,” Forbes’ Jack Magruder wrote. “He has earned $500,000 apiece for reaching 1,200 and 1,500 yards rushing, and he earned another $500,000 for surpassing 13 touchdowns. A touchdown Sunday would be worth another $500,000, and the Ravens have an incentive to go hard Saturday because a victory would clinch the AFC North title.”

Henry scored at least one touchdown in each of his first 11 games as a Raven, though some of them were receiving touchdowns. He then went without a touchdown for four straight games before getting back on the board in last week’s win over the Houston Texans. With a division title on the line, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if the Ravens lean heavily on Henry, even more than usual.

Additionally, No. 2 running back Justice Hill will miss his second-straight game on Saturday, giving the Ravens even more reason to ride Henry.

It goes without saying that the star running back’s primary focus will be on winning, but picking up an extra half a million along the way is a nice bonus.

Make sure you bookmark Baltimore Ravens on SI for the latest news, exclusive interviews, film breakdowns and so much more!

As the Baltimore Ravens gear up to face off against the Cleveland Browns, all eyes are on running back Derrick Henry as he has the opportunity to hit a huge incentive in this crucial game.

Henry, known for his powerful running style and ability to break tackles, is just a few yards away from reaching a significant milestone in his contract. If he can surpass 1,500 rushing yards for the season against the Browns, he will unlock a substantial financial bonus.

With the Ravens fighting for a playoff spot and facing a tough Browns defense, Henry will need to bring his A-game to achieve this feat. However, with his track record of dominating performances and penchant for rising to the occasion in big moments, fans are hopeful that he can deliver when it matters most.

As the anticipation builds for this highly-anticipated matchup, all eyes will be on Derrick Henry as he looks to secure his place in Ravens’ history and secure his well-deserved incentive. Stay tuned for what promises to be an exciting showdown on the gridiron.

    Not so fast.

“I gotta be careful what I say because Derrick (Henry) can still get that, you know what I mean?” Barkley said. “He’s a special player and you can’t count him out of anything.”

It’s clear that Barkley has a ton of respect for Baltimore’s Derrick Henry, who enters Week 18 with 1,783 rushing yards. Henry is 222 yards away from Barkley so it’s obviously a long shot as the Ravens get ready to play the Browns, but Barkley isn’t counting Henry out.

Barkley actually spoke with Henry on Wednesday. Two of the best running backs in the NFL have grown close. They were rooting for each other this offseason in free agency as they moved on from their former teams and they’ve been rooting for each other throughout this historic season.

When it was brought up to Barkley, who hit 2,000 rushing yards on the season last week, that the first eight members of the 2K Club have failed to get back to that mark, he quickly mentioned King Henry.

Henry finished with 2,027 yards back in 2020 with the Titans and this is now the second-best season of his incredible career.

“Derrick Henry could do it,” Barkley said.

Then it was brought up that Henry was 217 yards shy of 2,000 for the 2024 season.

“I’m not gonna lie, I knew that number,” Barkley said. “I talked to him today. He was talking to me to see if I was going to get [the record]. Obviously, the news came out that I’m sitting. I told him you could do something special too. Be the first one to do it twice. You never know.”

    Get a paw up there

Jalen Carter has the ability to wreck games. You see him beat double-teams, knife into the backfield, hit quarterbacks and take down running backs. All the things that garner acclaim.

But there’s another thing Carter has been exceptionally good at in 2024.

He’s batting down passes at a really high rate. After he didn’t have a single pass breakup as a rookie in 2023, Carter has batted down six passes this season. His sixth came on Sunday against the Cowboys and he nearly swatted the ball into the arms of teammate Nolan Smith.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said that ability is just “innate” in some players.

“Yeah, he’s got a knack for it,” Fangio said. “That’s usually what it is. Some guys have a knack for it. He seems to have a knack for it. It’s been good.”

Carter has his own theory on why he’s been so good at batting pass.

“I think that’s from when I played offense in high school,” he said. “I’m used to running routes, little drags down the middle and stuff, catching the ball. Usually when I’m rushing and I see it’s not going to be a rush where I can get a sack or something, I can real a quarterback’s eyes and I can tell where somebody is coming behind me and I can get my hand up.”

Carter’s six batted passes are second among defensive tackles in the NFL this season behind just Cameron Hayward, who has eight. And this is the most batted passes for any Eagles DT since at least 1999.

Trevor Laws batted 5 passes in 2010, Darwin Walker had 5 in 2003 and the most Fletcher Cox ever had in a season was 3 in his rookie season in 2012. Carter has more batted passes this year than the rest of the Eagles’ DTs combined: Jordan Davis (2), Thomas Booker (1), Milton Williams (1).

    Opportunity for Tanner

You’ll hear a bunch of people call Sunday’s Week 18 game against the Giants “meaningless.” And from a playoff seeding perspective, it is.

But this game has plenty of meaning for the backup Eagles who will get a rare chance to show their ability in a regular season game. The top guy on that list is third-string quarterback Tanner McKee, who will make his first NFL start.

“This is my chance to play a significant amount of snaps, reps, and to go out and show what I’ve been working for this whole year,” McKee said. “Obviously, been putting in a ton of work for myself on the practice field and different things like that. I feel like I can showcase that and I’m super excited for the opportunity.”

The Eagles drafted McKee in the sixth round out of Stanford last season and have been developing him since. Last week against the Cowboys, McKee made his NFL debut in relief of the injured Kenny Pickett and played well. McKee completed 3 of 4 passes for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns. His only incompletion was a great ball to A.J. Brown in the end zone but Brown wasn’t able to keep his feet in bounds.

McKee, 24, said this is a big opportunity to show his team and the rest of the league what he can do. It’s also a chance for a big confidence-boost.

Even though McKee has barely played all year, he thinks he has improved as a quarterback.

“I feel like almost having another season under my belt with the offense, just feeling more comfortable,” he said. “Everything’s happening second-nature with different checks or where your eyes should be. Just not thinking as much, being able to see the defense, look off guys or just confirm things a little quicker with your eyes.”

    Harnessing Sydney Brown’s aggression

From the first play last Sunday against the Cowboys, Eagles second-year safety/special teamer Sydney Brown wasn’t afraid to mix it up with the opponent in a chippy game.

Eventually, Brown was tossed in the fourth quarter for body-slamming a Cowboys player in the tunnel after two Cowboys went after him.

“Unfortunate that it ended up with a brawl, but that’s just something we make a learning experience for Sydney,” Eagles special teams coordinator Michael Clay said. “When the whistle blows, so he doesn’t put anybody else in a bad predicament going forward. When you have a guy like Sydney Brown you’re not going to take away his tenacity. You got to make a learning point to hone in that emotion after the play stops just so you don’t put anybody else in a bad spot.”

The week before, starting safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was ejected against the Commanders. And you can also toss in defensive tackle Jalen Carter as a player who routinely plays up to (and sometimes slightly over) the line of aggression.

It’s about finding that balance. But Clay definitely appreciates the edge and emotion that Brown brings to special teams.

“Sydney does it through a physicality standpoint, especially on the outside,” Clay said. “So he does bring an edge. You always want your guys to back each other up. I think they do a good job on special teams of backing each other up and trying to get out of those dustups and make sure we don’t lose anybody going forward.”

    Developing talent in the NFL

Nick Sirianni always talks about the developmental periods the Eagles hold after practice for their younger players. So as they get ready to play a game where a lot of those guys are going to play, he was asked more about those developmental periods.

Sirianni said that Frank Reich had similar practice periods in Indianapolis when Sirianni was an offensive coordinator and the Eagles had done it before he arrived too. So it was a no-brainer to keep doing them.

    Sirianni on Friday explained why.

“It’s just so important,” Sirianni said. “When you’re on the scout team and you’re not getting a lot of the reps with the starters, then you don’t rep your plays, right? You’re doing what a card says. It’s a lot different running a play when you hear it in the huddle and have to go process it and go do it, one of our plays, as opposed to looking at a card, ‘Do this.’ It’s just different. We’ve got to try to put them in positions to develop.”

While Sirianni said he didn’t want to give away all of their methods to develop talent, he did offer one more detail. On Friday or Saturday — it’s up to the position coach — those scout team players have an extra meeting to go over their practice reps. The Eagles have to always prepare their starters to play but they want to keep bringing along their backups too.

In a recent interview with NBC Sports Philadelphia, Saquon Barkley opened up about his respect for fellow running back Derrick Henry. Barkley praised Henry’s work ethic, physicality, and ability to dominate on the field.

Barkley, who is known for his own explosive playing style, spoke highly of Henry’s impressive performance in the 2020 season, where he rushed for over 2,000 yards and won the NFL rushing title.

“He’s a beast out there. The way he runs through defenders and makes big plays happen is truly inspiring,” Barkley said. “I have a lot of respect for his game and the way he approaches every matchup.”

The two running backs have faced off on the field before, with Henry’s Tennessee Titans coming out on top in their most recent meeting. Despite the competition, Barkley expressed admiration for Henry’s skillset and the impact he has on the game.

“It’s always a battle when you go up against a player like Derrick. He’s a force to be reckoned with, and I have nothing but respect for him,” Barkley added.

As both players continue to make their mark in the NFL, it’s clear that Barkley holds Henry in high regard both on and off the field. Fans can expect to see more explosive performances from these two talented running backs in the seasons to come.

  • Why 2025 will be the year Mo Salah dethrones King Henry as the Premier League’s greatest, writes DANNY MURPHY

Why 2025 will be the year Mo Salah dethrones King Henry as the Premier League’s greatest, writes DANNY MURPHY

Who is the greatest Premier League player of all-time? Alan Shearer has the most goals, Ryan Giggs 13 titles and the Ballon d’Or was won by Cristiano Ronaldo and Rodri.

But nearly every poll puts Thierry Henry at number one and I can see why. He could beat you with either skill or raw pace. At Liverpool, we’d double up to stop him, and still fail.

For two decades, King Henry has sat on the throne unopposed despite other exceptional talents. However, 2025 could be a watershed year. If Mo Salah achieves what I think he will, he’ll overtake even Thierry.

In the next few months, Salah could win his second Premier League and Champions League, a fourth Golden Boot equalling the record held by Alan Shearer and Henry, and move fourth in the all-time scorers list behind Shearer, Harry Kane and Rooney. This from a winger who didn’t join Liverpool until he was 25.

He is also top in the league this season for assists and should he sign a new contract at Liverpool, I can’t see it not happening, it will take his time in England past a decade.

It’s not only facts and figures that makes Salah not just special, but unique. He is achieving all this from a wide position. It’s not as if he is a centre-forward where the team prepares its attack specifically for him.

Speculation remains fixated on Salah's future with his contract up at the end of the season

Speculation remains fixated on Salah’s future with his contract up at the end of the season

Henry was a centre-forward who drifted left. Salah is the opposite. He starts right and and comes inside when opportunities arise.

He scores the amount of goals he does because his positional play is exceptional. He makes runs to receive the ball close enough to goal. Once there, he makes quick decisions before defenders can react. Though he prefers his left, he can chop onto his right.

His first touch to set up the finish is exceptional – it’s pure talent. Added to that, he has a remarkable desire. The more he scores, the more he wants to.

Salah has been Liverpool’s talisman in them reaching two other Champions League finals and twice being runner-up in the league with a points tally that would have seen them champions in any other year.

Henry would be the first to acknowledge he had world-class players like Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp at Arsenal who helped him. Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo had each other besides Paul Scholes for Manchester United.

Salah has had some brilliant team-mates but not at that level. Imagine what he could have done with if Scholes and Bergkamp as partners.

Consistency is also a factor in greatness. The Egyptian’s durability is remarkable and he’s looking in better condition than ever.

He turns 33 in June, an age when clubs are normally reluctant to offer long-term deals, but I can’t see why Liverpool wouldn’t give him three more years as the best-paid player at the club.

Salah has enjoyed sustained success despite not having the same level of team-mates

Salah has enjoyed sustained success despite not having the same level of team-mates

It’s a risk worth taking for the club when you factor everything in and Salah has earned any special treatment. He’s not going to fall off a cliff in the next year or two. As long as he’s not demanding to double his money – which I don’t think is the case – a deal should be done.

All players want to be loved and Salah is adored on Merseyside. He seems someone who places great importance on his family being settled and happy.

His legacy is already assured but if stays for the majority of the decade, even more records will come tumbling, even the ones which have looked unobtainable like Shearer’s Premier League goals record or Ian Rush’s at Liverpool. Salah has this burning desire to go down in the history books.

His body language has been excellent this season, Arne Slot has to take part of the credit. His star man is smiling and encouraging team-mates. He is definitely one of the main leaders in the Liverpool team.

Beyond the goals, his peripheral vision to find team-mates is better than ever. He’s a proper team man besides being an exceptional individual. At 32, Salah is the full package, in the form of his life.

I often suffered at the hands of Thierry. He scored a brilliant hat-trick against us at Liverpool during Arsenal’s Invincibles season and even when I moved to Charlton, he produced this ridiculous back-heel goal.

I didn’t think we’d ever see his like again. By the end of this coming year, I believe Mo will be wearing the crown.

Liverpool's reluctance to offer Salah a long-term deal is understandable but they simply cannot afford to let their best player walk out the door

How the FA Cup can regain some glory

The FA Cup has lost traditional elements like replays and saving Wembley for the final, but they could reclaim some glory by scrapping VAR.

It is here to stay in the Premier League but the thrilling 4-3 Carabao Cup game between Tottenham and Manchester United was a breath of fresh air because it didn’t have VAR double-checking every incident.

The best thing about football is the euphoric moments when a goal goes in. It’s truer in the FA Cup. Why do we want to curtail those celebrations for a visit to Stockley Park?

    My wish for 2025

My football wish for the new year is for fewer robotic players. It makes me angry to see them stuck to one idea rather than thinking for themselves.

I’ve seen teams trailing with two minutes to go trying to keep possession instead of chasing an equaliser. It’s a lack of game management you wouldn’t want in an under 15s game.

Managers must get frustrated. They want players to understand that no matter how well-drilled they are, there are times in a game situation to slow things down, and a time to take risks.

Everton were a breath of fresh air against Manchester City. Jordan Pickford would play into James Tarkowski if the chance was there.

But if he was being closed down, he was happy to play longer rather than risk a turnover. It’s common sense lacking in too many teams.

Maybe academy coaches should make it clear that learning a pattern of play doesn’t mean abdicating responsibility when you need to be flexible.

    Where Tuchel should go first

Thomas Tuchel officially starts as England manager on January 1 and has a full programme of games to choose from next weekend.

Given our lack of balance down the left at the Euros, he might take an early look at Newcastle’s combination on that side of Lewis Hall and Anthony Gordon.

Gordon is a natural winger which Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Morgan Rogers aren’t.

Hall is technically good, as you’d expect from a Chelsea academy graduate.

Tuchel will get around the grounds in the coming weeks but for starters I hope to see him at the game between Tottenham and Newcastle next Saturday lunchtime!

Why 2025 will be the year Mo Salah dethrones King Henry as the Premier League’s greatest

As we look ahead to the future of the Premier League, one name stands out as a potential heir to the throne of the league’s greatest player – Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward has been nothing short of sensational since joining Liverpool in 2017, consistently delivering performances that have left fans and pundits alike in awe.

Salah’s incredible goal-scoring record, his pace, skill, and work rate have seen him become one of the most feared attackers in world football. But it is not just his abilities on the pitch that make him a standout candidate to dethrone Thierry Henry as the Premier League’s greatest.

Salah’s impact goes beyond the numbers. He has single-handedly carried his team at times, scoring crucial goals in big moments and leading Liverpool to both domestic and European success. His influence on and off the pitch cannot be understated, and it is this combination of talent, work ethic, and leadership that sets him apart from his peers.

Looking ahead to 2025, Salah will be in the prime of his career, still hungry for success and determined to leave his mark on the Premier League. With the likes of Henry, Alan Shearer, and Cristiano Ronaldo as his competition, Salah will have to continue to deliver consistently exceptional performances to cement his place as the league’s greatest.

But with his talent, determination, and unwavering commitment to success, I have no doubt that Mo Salah will rise to the challenge and ultimately claim his place as the Premier League’s greatest player. And when that day comes, it will be a fitting tribute to a player who has already achieved so much in his career and has the potential to achieve even more in the years to come.
