  • ‘He’s better than you’: Cristiano Ronaldo’s son names favorite player

Cristiano Ronaldo turns 40 next week but his advancing age hasn’t dimmed his famous competitive instinct.

He has scored 20 goals in 23 appearances for Al Nassr this season and remains a regular starter for the Portuguese national team. But his age is undoubtedly catching up with him and CR7’s son has reportedly told his dad that’s he’s no longer No. 1.

Speaking in an interview this week, Ronaldo revealed which player his son Mateo believes is the best in the world.

“Mateo, he really likes Mbappé,” Ronaldo explained. “He sometimes tells me: Hey dad, Mbappé is better than you,’ and I reply by saying: ‘No, I am better than him, I have scored more goals.”

Kylian Mbappé has been viewed as Cristiano Ronaldo's long-term replacement for Real Madrid.

Mbappé has made no secret of that fact that Ronaldo was his hero growing up, one of the main reasons why he coveted a move to Real Madrid in his career. The Frenchman has not looked entirely comfortable during his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu but a recent purple patch of form has put him on track for a very respectable goals tally.

With a hat-trick last weekend Mbappé is now on 15 LaLiga goals in his first season with the club, 22 goals in all competitions. CR7 hit 33 goals in his first season in Madrid, although injury restricted him to just 35 appearances in all competitions.

If Mbappé stays fit this campaign he could still catch Ronaldo’s goal tally from his debut season in the Spanish capital. Is that likely to make Ronaldo concede that the Frenchman is now his equal? Unlikely.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s son has made a bold statement by naming his favorite player, and it’s not who you might expect. In a recent interview, Ronaldo’s son revealed that he looks up to Lionel Messi as his favorite player.

Despite his father’s status as one of the greatest footballers of all time, it seems that Ronaldo’s son has developed a fondness for his father’s long-time rival. The young football fan praised Messi’s skill and talent on the pitch, calling him “the best player in the world.”

While some may be surprised by this revelation, it’s clear that Ronaldo’s son is not afraid to go against the norm and choose his own favorite player. Perhaps this is a sign of the changing times in football, where loyalty and admiration are not always tied to family ties.

Regardless of his son’s choice, Cristiano Ronaldo remains a legend in the sport and continues to inspire fans around the world. It will be interesting to see how this playful rivalry between father and son plays out in the years to come.

  • Daniil Medvedev pinpoints one area of his game he’s been working to improve in training since shock Australian Open defeat

Daniil Medvedev will be eager to put all of his focus on the Rotterdam Open, but part of him may still be thinking about his disastrous Australian Open.

Medvedev is among the biggest Australian Open losers, having fallen in the second round to American youngster Learner Tien.

And in his first round meeting with Kasidit Samrej, Medvedev was booed by the Australian Open crowd, summarising his disappointing experience in Melbourne.

Medvedev was the fifth seed at the Australian Open, where he is a three-time finalist, having lost last year’s final to Jannik Sinner.

He now moves on from that early exit by taking on Stan Wawrinka at the Rotterdam Open, where Sinner is taking a rest from his recent Grand Slam success.

Daniil Medvedev wants to improve confidence after shock Australian Open loss

Medvedev is the second seed in Rotterdam, with the Russian sharing what he has been working on ahead of the event with the ATP Tour website.

“It was a tough result in Australia,” he said. “In a way, it was a good match, but a tough result. I am just trying to look forward and bounce back, that is the only way. I have to try to gain some confidence to win some matches.

“I am trying to get my game more competitive. It is not easy but I am working on a lot of things but I think my confidence is the most important.

“Confidence and the work you put in show in the most important moments of matches, and you try and put the reps in to have that belief in your body.

“I am working on lots of areas. Let’s take volleys. I am not the best at the net on tour but I am capable sometimes of making some amazing volleys in important moments.

“One against Learner in Australia. You work every day on aspects of your game and sometimes they work in matches and sometimes not.

“I feel I am in a good position. I had a very good pre-season and a great week before the Australian Open. I remain calm.

“I am confident I can find my level and play my best in Rotterdam. When you have an amazing week and results and then you lose the next tournament early, you feel your good result is forgotten. That is tennis.

“It works both ways, when you have a bad result people focus on that until you play well again. I hope I can play well here this week at an event I have had success at.”

Daniil Medvedev excited for new generation after Australian Open loss to Learner Tien

Tien was among the rising stars to really shine at the Australian Open, with his fellow NextGen player Joao Fonseca also picking up a top 10 win against Andrey Rublev.

A total of five of the eight players from the 20-and-under tournament in Jeddah in December reached at least the second round in Melbourne, with Tien joined by fellow American Alex Michelsen in making it to round four.

Sharing his thoughts on that new group of ATP players, Medvedev noted: “I think it is normal to have a new generation coming. I think every generation probably had this. Young guys coming and beating top 10 players at majors.

“Learner played a great match and was able to win the next one even when we finished at three in the morning. So that showed he was ready for it and a good sign.

“But with this new generation, there are a lot of good young guys. Some generations have more players coming through like this than others, but there are always great players coming.

“Let’s see what they are able to do over the coming period, that is tough. But for sure they have a very strong generation.”

  • Peter Navarro Is One of Trump’s Most Faithful Allies. Now He’s Getting His Trade War.

Years before Peter Navarro went to prison for contempt of Congress, he was already known for his contempt for Congress.

Throughout Donald Trump’s first term, lawmakers often left meetings with Navarro — the president’s trade attack dog — uncertain of the new administration’s strategic endgame. They were hearing concerns from companies in their districts about Trump’s tariffs on imports from America’s allies, which were causing higher prices and threatening jobs. Could someone explain, they wondered, why paying more for steel and aluminum from Canada and Mexico was necessary for national security?

Rep. Warren Davidson shared apprehensions like those in a meeting with Navarro, but it left him frustrated. It was “a complete waste of time,” he recalled in a recent interview with NOTUS.

Peter Navarro, the White House trade adviser, has been one of President Trump’s most loyal and steadfast allies since the beginning of his administration. Navarro has been a vocal advocate for Trump’s tough stance on trade, particularly with China, and has been instrumental in shaping the administration’s trade policies.

Now, Navarro is finally getting his trade war. Trump’s recent announcement of tariffs on steel and aluminum imports has been met with widespread criticism and has sparked fears of a trade war with major trading partners. But Navarro remains undeterred, defending the tariffs as necessary to protect American industries and jobs.

Despite facing backlash from both Democrats and Republicans, Navarro continues to stand by Trump’s side, unwavering in his support for the president’s trade agenda. As the trade war heats up, Navarro’s influence within the administration is only likely to grow, solidifying his position as one of Trump’s most trusted allies.

Love him or hate him, there’s no denying that Peter Navarro is a key player in Trump’s trade war strategy. Only time will tell if his unwavering loyalty will pay off in the end.

  • Troye Sivan reveals he’s into hairy guys in risqué Grindr campaign

Troye Sivan in Grindr's 'Tap or Block' campaign

Troye Sivan has revealed his dating “icks” in a risqué game of “tap or block” with his dancers as part of a new Grindr campaign.

Sivan, alongside his six touring dancers from the Something to Give Each Other tour, demonstrated the “tap or block” game – tapping for something you’re into, and giving a hard block for your dating “icks”.

For the “taps”, Sivan and dancers Mauro, Simone, Benjamin, Theo, Samuel, and Ainsley were in agreement that “hotel sex” is an absolute yes.

“We’d be celibate for seven months, which would be crazy,” Sivan said of life without hotel sex while on tour.

Among other “taps” were satin pillowcases, good communication and solid foreplay.

As for the dating “blocks”? Sivan and his dancers were in agreement that taking a nude selfie next to an object to show “scale” is a definite block, describing the act as “performative”.

A more divisive subject was body hair, with Sivan explaining that “super hairy” guys are “kind of hot”, and that his dating “ick” is when you can tell somebody’s shaved “all over”.

Sivan, who famously dispelled speculation that he was a ‘bottom’ after fans read into the racy lyrics for his single “Bloom”, also indicated that he prefers ‘strict dynamics’ with his sexual partners, answering, “Uhh, tap? Sure.”

“Dating and hooking up can be complex, sexy, messy, intoxicating, and confusing,” Troye Sivan said in a statement about the partnership.

“I love how Grindr and this campaign celebrate all of this with humour, honesty, and through community. It’s refreshing to show these conversations in an authentic way.”

As well as performing his own global tour, Something to Give Each Other, from May 2024 to December 2024, pop icon Troye Sivan also collaborated with Charli XCX on their joint Sweat tour, which began in September 2024 and will reportedly run until June this year.

Troye Sivan, the popular Australian singer and LGBTQ+ icon, has recently made headlines after revealing his preference for hairy guys in a bold new Grindr campaign.

In a series of provocative ads, Sivan can be seen posing seductively alongside hairy men, with slogans like “Hair today, hot tomorrow” and “Fur real love” plastered across the images.

The campaign, which aims to celebrate body hair and challenge traditional beauty standards within the gay community, has sparked a heated debate online. While some fans have praised Sivan for his openness and authenticity, others have criticized the ads for perpetuating stereotypes and objectifying men.

Regardless of the controversy, one thing is clear: Troye Sivan is unapologetically embracing his love for hairy guys, and encouraging others to do the same. Whether you’re a smooth operator or a hairy beast, Sivan’s message is clear: love yourself, and love who you love.

  • Drake Maye excited to work with new Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel: ‘He’s been awesome’

The New England Patriots have their quarterback of the future. Drake Maye played well in 2024 despite being thrown into poor circumstances, completing 66.6% of his passes at an average of 6.7 yards per attempt, with 15 touchdowns against 10 interceptions in 13 starts. He also ran for 421 yards and two additional scores on his 54 carries. Considering the offensive line in front of him and the pass-catching corps at his disposal, it was a pretty fantastic rookie season.

But the Patriots themselves were kind of a disaster, and so the Jerod Mayo-led coaching staff was let go after just one season. To replace Mayo, the Patriots reached back into the past to hire Mike Vrabel, the former head coach of the Tennessee Titans whose best years as a player also came in New England. And Vrabel himself reached into the past for an offensive coordinator, bringing in longtime former Pats OC Josh McDaniels to run the offense.

And Maye is excited to work with them both.

“Yeah, he reached out to me and we got on the phone. He’s been awesome,” Maye said of Vrabel, via Sirius XM. “Obviously, a guy who’s done it and played in the league and won a Super Bowl, you have a respect of what he’s done and seeing what he’s done. I think the biggest thing is he’s been a head coach and he knows what it’s like. So excited to get up to New England and get things going.”

As for McDaniels, he seemed enthused by the idea of playing for a guy who helped direct the successes of the player who is considered by many to be the greatest quarterback of all time.

“Coach McDaniels, obviously, what he’s done there and the success he’s had. Fortunate to be able to have a guy come in who’s done it at a high level and learn from him coaching one of the best ever and the best ever, in my opinion, Tom [Brady],” Maye said. “Got a great chance to go back and all those years of film you have in a little database, it’s all their play calls and all coach McDaniels’ stuff and what he did with Tom. It’s fortunate for me to go back and study it up and get ready for this next season.”

Maye has a chance to build on what he did as a rookie, through the Patriots. The Patriots should at the very least be a better-coached team in 2025 than they were in 2024, and that should help Maye raise his baseline level of play. They’ll need to give him a great deal more help if they want him to fulfill his potential, though, and that’s something that will have to be done this offseason.

Drake Maye, the rookie quarterback for the New England Patriots, is thrilled to be working with the team’s new head coach, Mike Vrabel. In a recent interview, Maye expressed his excitement about playing under Vrabel’s leadership, saying, “He’s been awesome so far. I can already tell that he’s a great coach and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us this season.”

Vrabel, who was hired by the Patriots earlier this year, has already made a positive impression on the team with his energy, enthusiasm, and innovative coaching style. Maye is looking forward to learning from Vrabel and believes that the new head coach will help him reach his full potential as a player.

With Vrabel at the helm, the Patriots are gearing up for a successful season and Maye is excited to be a part of the team’s journey. Stay tuned for more updates on Maye’s progress as he continues to work with Coach Vrabel and the rest of the Patriots coaching staff.

Coming out of the challenge, Martinez immediately looked to be in pain and signaled to the bench that he needed to come off.

After a lengthy period of treatment, the defender was left in tears as he was stretchered off the pitch in heartbreaking scenes.

While the nature of his injury is yet to be confirmed, it looked to be a serious knee injury.

It led to a six-minute delay to the game with players and fans watching on with concerned looks on their faces.

It comes 12 months after Martinez suffered another knee problem in which he sprained a medial collateral ligament against West Ham.

While the defender didn’t require surgery at the time, he was forced to miss most of the second half of the season as a result.

Previous to that, Martinez spent months on the sidelines with a broken metatarsal.

This term Martinez has been a key player for Man United, playing 32 times this season, starting all-but four of those games.

Unfortunately his absence was felt against Crystal Palace with the visitors claiming a 2-0 win.

Jean-Philippe Mateta struck twice to earn a win for the Eagles as they leapfrogged Man United to move into 12th position in the table.

It was a day that ended in misery as Palace ran out as winners

    3

It was a day that ended in misery as Palace ran out as winners

It means that the Red Devils have now failed to score against Palace in four consecutive Premier League games.

It’s the first time since 1983 United have gone four league games without a goal against the same opponent.

Palace have now won four of their last six visits to Old Trafford..

    More to follow…

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Manchester United’s star player was seen in tears as he was stretchered off the field with a suspected serious knee injury. The player, who has been a key figure for the team this season, was visibly in pain and anguish as he was taken off the pitch.

Fans and teammates alike were left devastated by the sight of their beloved player in such distress. The severity of the injury is yet to be confirmed, but early reports suggest that it could be a long-term setback for the player.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire football community are with the player as he undergoes further tests and treatment. The club has promised to provide updates on his condition as soon as they become available.

This injury serves as a stark reminder of the physical toll that professional athletes endure in pursuit of their passion. We can only hope for a speedy recovery for the player and that he will soon be back on the field doing what he loves.

  • Duncan Robinson names key reason LA Lakers’ JJ Redick is going to succeed as a coach, ‘he’s never going to’

JJ Redick has experienced a lot in his early days as a coach, it comes with the territory of taking the job at the LA Lakers.

After a poor start to the season, the Lakers appear to have found the winning formula and have lost just one of their last six games which came against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Lakers coach was under pressure from the fans early in his tenure but some strong trades bringing in Dorian Finney Smith and Shake Milton have helped the side come together.

Redick has some great coaching qualities and Miami Heat’s Duncan Robinson has highlighted one key reason why he’s going to be a success.

Los Angeles, California November 13, 2024-Lakers Dalton Knecht talks with head coach JJ Redick at Crypto.com Arena Wednesday.

    Robinson praises Redick’s relentlessness

One of Redick’s greatest qualities is his unwavering competetiveness which sees him demand the most from his team.

The former shooting guard is never afraid to call out his players and he recently demanded more from Bronny James following a poor performance against the Utah Jazz.

While Redick is not afraid to question his team, he also balances this out with a supportive role which looks to draw the very best out of his stars.

This support has seen his players stand up for him in situations where he is receiving heat from the media, he recently got into a large spat with Charles Barkley about the ‘negativity’ the media portrays on the league.

Redick is still young in his coaching career having never had a role before the Lakers job, but Robinson has highlighted why he believes he will be a success.

Speaking on The Young Man and The Three, he said: “I think one reason why JJ is going to be such a good coach in time is that he’s not going to relent, he’s always going to try and find ‘this isn’t working we’re pivoting we’re playing, we’re going to figure out what’s next.”

Reaves opens up on Redick relationship

Austin Reaves has become a key part of the Lakers set-up under JJ Redick and is putting in some starring performances this season.

AR15 is grateful for his opportunity at the Lakers and he is thriving under Redick’s mentorship where he is averaging 18-4-6, his best in his NBA career so far.

The star, who went undrafted, is also a big supporter of his teammates and has explained how he is looking to help current rookie Dalton Knecht.

Reaves spoke openly about his relationship with Redick in which he feels the pair can be open with one another.

He said: “He [Redick] can say anything to me. If it’s the middle of the game he can sit there and cuss me out if he wants as I know it’s coming from a good place as I’ve spent so much time with him on a human level.

“He’s told me multiple times if there’s a situation where I need to cuss him out he said ‘Go ahead, I’m not going to hold anything against you, we’re both competitors’ so that was the main thing, we can always be honest with each other.”

Redick will now be looking to build on his 27-19 start with the Lakers, he might even be preparing to welcome a new face to the side.

Duncan Robinson names key reason LA Lakers’ JJ Redick is going to succeed as a coach, ‘he’s never going to’

In a recent interview, Miami Heat sharpshooter Duncan Robinson shared his thoughts on former NBA player JJ Redick’s transition into coaching with the Los Angeles Lakers. Robinson praised Redick’s basketball IQ and work ethic, stating that these qualities will make him a successful coach in the NBA.

“He’s never going to settle for mediocrity,” Robinson said. “JJ is a perfectionist on the court, and I know he will bring that same level of dedication and attention to detail to his coaching career. He’s always looking for ways to improve and get better, and I have no doubt that he will instill that same mindset in his players.”

Robinson also highlighted Redick’s leadership skills and ability to connect with players on a personal level as key factors that will contribute to his success as a coach. “JJ knows how to motivate and inspire his teammates, and I think that will translate well to coaching,” Robinson said. “He’s a great communicator and has a natural ability to bring people together.”

With Redick’s impressive resume as a player and his passion for the game, it seems that he is poised for a successful coaching career with the Lakers. As Robinson noted, Redick’s drive for excellence and his ability to connect with players will undoubtedly set him apart as a coach in the NBA.

Only time will tell how Redick’s coaching career will unfold, but based on Robinson’s comments, it seems like he is on the right path to success.

  • ‘He’s the National player of the Year’: Auburn basketball on following behind Johni Broome

Johni Broome left Baton Rouge on Wednesday with another reason to be considered the best player in college basketball.

His 26 points and 16 rebounds in Auburn basketball’s 87-74 victory over LSU were a testament to how dominant the Tigers leading scorer has been, reaching his 12th double-double on the season.

No other SEC player has more than six double-doubles this year. After missing two weeks with an ankle injury suffered against South Carolina, Broome has finished his last two games with double-doubles.

Averaging 18.2 points and 11.2 rebounds, it’s clear Broome has the green light for any shot as the leader of this team.

“I mean, Johni’s National Player of the Year, in my opinion. One of the best big men in the country, one of the best players in the country,” Chaney Johnson said. “To have a guy like that back and probably not even 100%, and is still doing as well as he’s doing, it’s great.”

“It’s a great thing for the future of this team and the future of March. We trust him. He trusts in us. He works hard. He plays hard. It’s great to have a guy like him back.”

Broome is the first Division I player to post five games with at least 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots in a single season. Ironically, the feat hasn’t been done since Morehead State’s Kenneth Faried (6) in 2010-11.

Bruce Pearl talked about the game plan entering most contests and how it’s affected by the opponents’ defensive strategy. If Broome knows a double team is not on the scouting report, he takes full advantage of his matchup.

“When you go into a scout and Johni hears these words, they’re going to play you one on one in the post… You know you got to be careful when you say that to him, because he will take you at your word and you know, nobody’s going to play him one on one in the post,” Pearl said. “When you play against a team that he knows is going to double team in the post, then he’ll go into a game sort of understanding and looking for it.”

During the Maui Invitational, Broome passed Charles Barkley for 28th on Auburn’s career scoring list after averaging 21.7 points.

Wednesday night at LSU, 20 of Broome’s 26 points were scored in the second half. He finished 7-of-9 from the floor after starting the game shooting 3-of-14.

Despite the slow start, Miles Kelly believes with Broome on the floor the game plan plays off of him.

“If nobody can stop him, why would you stop going to him. I think that’s just what will happen. Nobody can really stop him,” Kelly said. “He missed a couple of bunnies around the basket but ended up getting the offensive rebound and putting it back. Just playing off of him — they double, he kicks it out. We have all 40% 3-point shooters around the perimeter. So that’s how we finish the game.”

No matter what the Tigers do in preparation, the product on the court has led to a record-setting 12 Quad-1 victories.

With Broome at the center of it all, Auburn looks to extend its undefeated conference record heading into the final month before March Madness.

The Tigers will travel to Ole Miss Saturday to wrap up its two-game road stretch this week. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.

Auburn basketball fans are buzzing with excitement as Johni Broome continues to dominate the court and make a strong case for National Player of the Year. Broome’s exceptional skills and leadership on the court have propelled Auburn to new heights this season, and his impact on the team cannot be understated.

With each game, Broome showcases his versatility and determination, consistently putting up impressive numbers and leading his team to victory. His work ethic and passion for the game are evident in every play, earning him the respect and admiration of fans, teammates, and opponents alike.

As the season progresses, all eyes are on Broome as he continues to make his mark on college basketball and solidify his place as one of the top players in the country. With his talent, drive, and dedication to the game, there is no doubt that Broome is a strong contender for National Player of the Year.

Auburn basketball is proud to have a player of Broome’s caliber leading the team, and fans are eagerly anticipating what the future holds for this exceptional athlete. Stay tuned as Broome continues to make his mark on the court and cement his legacy as one of the best players in college basketball. #GoTigers #JohniBroome #NationalPlayeroftheYear
