Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet are enjoying their romance.

Amid the holiday season, Jenner and Chalamet’s relationship is still going strong. A year and a half after they started dating, Jenner, 27, is now integrating the Wonka actor, 29, into her home life, a source tells PEOPLE.

“They had an early Christmas celebration together before Kylie spent Christmas Day with her family,” the source says. “It took Kylie a long time to introduce him to her kids. He’s part of the family now though. Her kids know him as a ‘friend.’ ”

The source adds: “Her relationship with him is great and very easy. He’s super supportive of her priorities and he works around her schedule a lot. They are both committed to making it work.”

Earlier this month, Jenner and Chalamet made a rare public appearance together at the A Complete Unknown afterparty in Los Angeles. Photos captured the couple cozying up to one another as Chalamet celebrated the launch of his latest movie.

Jenner skipped the red carpet, but she and the Dune star were “pretty affectionate with each other” at the afterparty, according to an insider. Chalamet, who received his fourth Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in the film, settled into his roped-off section of the party with his girlfriend as she sat in his lap and gave him a quick kiss.

The pair don’t often step out in public together — before the December premiere party, they were last seen on a low-key dinner date at Little Charli in the West Village in New York City in October. A source later told PEOPLE that they were “very cuddly and very cute” and “looked very much in love” during the date.

“Everyone loves them together,” a source close to Jenner said. “He’s close with her family and she’s close with his family. It’s very serious, but also a fun relationship.

In the past, Jenner has made sure to show up to support Chalamet’s projects. In December 2023, she attended the L.A. and London premieres of Wonka, although she kept it low-key.

In August, The Kardashians star even told British Vogue that she had been able to fly under the radar during her NYC visits (at the time, Chalamet was there filming Marty Supreme), and a source told PEOPLE they were “able to figure out a good balance between working and spending quality time together.”

“I haven’t had one person notice me. I’ve been really able to get around,” Jenner revealed to the magazine. She even admitted to frequently “walking the High Line” without getting recognized.

  • Ultimate respect, BSU’s Danielson says he’s been a fan of James Franklin from afar

Ultimate respect, BSU’s Danielson says he’s been a fan of James Franklin from afar

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (Nittany Nation) — At 52-years-old, somehow James Franklin is the oldest remaining coach in the College Football Playoffs.

“I guess first thing is I probably don’t have a whole lot of years left, is what you’re saying,” joked Franklin.

It’s an intriguing revelation that came to light Monday on Fiesta Bowl eve when Penn State’s Franklin and Boise State’s Spencer Danielson spoke with the media one final time.

As coaches like Nick Saban and Mack Brown retire in their 70s, College football is shifting younger and younger. BSU’s Danielson (36) is one of four head coaches still coaching in the CFP who is in their 30s. While Ryan Day (45) Kirby Smart (49) Steve Sarkisian (50) and Franklin (52) make up the “grizzled veterans” club.

“To me, I think it’s a positive,” said Franklin. “You see it in the NFL. You see it in college football. Obviously, guys like Spencer have earned this opportunity. Then once he was able to get his foot in the door and get in that seat, he’s run with it, which I think will create other opportunities for other guys, just like I’m trying to create opportunities for guys as well.”

While Franklin, who was a relatively young hire in 2014, has spent a decade with Penn State, Danielson was hired in 2017 as a grad assistant. He took over as an interim head coach last season and is in his first season as the head coach. He instantly found success leading the Broncos to a Mountain West title and the Fiesta Bowl.

“I love being around these kids, and that’s why everything about it for me is developing these guys for life,” he said. “It’s not because I love football more than somebody else. It’s not about chasing other jobs. I believe guys put me here to develop people and it’s all about these kids. So every day I’m around them, I’m fired up to be in the building.”

While Danielson and Franklin’s paths haven’t crossed much, this is Penn State and Boise’s first ever meeting, they did once years ago. Danielson reflected on a coaching conference he attended in the early years where he saw Franklin speak, he said ever since then, he’s had a ton of admiration for him.

“He was a Division II football player. Seeing his journey, seeing the success that Coach Franklin has had everywhere he goes,” he said. “Obviously [I] did not know him. He did not know me. But just so much respect from afar and seeing the product that is continually put on the field in every spot he’s ever been in, obviously for the past decade of Penn State, the success they’ve had, he’s just been someone that I’ve admired from afar for a long time. “

As a player for Boise State University, I have the utmost respect for Penn State head coach James Franklin. I have been a fan of his coaching style and leadership from afar for quite some time. Franklin’s ability to motivate and inspire his players is truly remarkable, and it is something that I aspire to emulate in my own career.

Watching Franklin lead his team to success on the field while also emphasizing the importance of academics and character development off the field has been truly inspiring. He is a role model for all young athletes, and I am grateful for the example he sets for us all.

I hope to one day have the opportunity to meet Coach Franklin and learn from him firsthand. Until then, I will continue to watch and admire his coaching prowess from afar. Ultimate respect to you, Coach Franklin. Thank you for being a shining example of what it means to be a leader in the world of college football.

All the Jacob Elordi Movies and TV Shows Proving He’s the Ultimate Teen Bad Boy

    Stephane Cardinale – Corbis/Getty Images

It’s hard to believe that it was only a few short years ago that Jacob Elordi became the broodiest man in movies and TV shows. His acting career may not span decades (yet), but his ability to churn out multiple projects in a single year has already made him one of our most prolific on-screen Bad Boys. (He is almost always portraying a Bad Boy).

There are the roles you probably already know, like in The Kissing Booths one, two, and three, Euphoria, and as dark Elvis Presley in Priscilla. But in between blockbusters, Elordi has also acted in small Netflix romantic dramas, artsy indies, and a certain erotic thriller alongside Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas.

For anyone interested in further exploring the eclectic ouevre that is Jacob Elordi’s movies and TV shows resumé, we present a list.

    The Kissing Booth (2018)

The movie that introduced the world to Jacob Elordi and his mean teen smirk. In Netflix’s The Kissing Booth, Elordi stars as Joey King’s moody high school crush turned true love.

Elordi then returned for the follow up to The Kissing Booth, The Kissing Booth 2, which now sees him and King attempting to juggle a long-distance relationship.

But the Kissing trilogy wasn’t Elordi’s only foray into romance. In 2020 he also starred in 2 Hearts, a romantic medical melodrama that follows two couples simultaneously, but didn’t exactly kill with reviewers.

The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee (2020)

In case you forgot that Jacob Elordi is actually Australian, he starred in the 2020 Crocodile Dundee reboot as Paul’s son Chase.

Once again, Jacob Elordi plays a high school student with a chip on his shoulder in HBO Max’s gritty teen soap opera, Euphoria.

Elordi was not the most headline-grabbing star of 2022’s Deep Water, but he did, in fact, star in the erotic psychological thriller that marked the beginning of Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas’s real-life romance.

    The Sweet East (2023)

Elordi only plays a small part in The Sweet East, as a temporary stop on protagonist Lillian’s surreal journey through the American Eastern seaboard.

There’s no denying at this point that Elordi has a gift for portraying sinister. In He Went That Way, he plays a hitchhiking serial killer alongside Zachary Quinto.

    Saltburn (2023)

MCDSALT MG012
©MGM/Courtesy Everett Collection

As Felix, Elordi perhaps wasn’t the most disturbing character in Saltburn, but he was close.

Just a year after Austin Butler debuted his Elvis Presley in Elvis, Jacob Elordi showed a darker side to the king in Priscilla.

Acting as a Young Richard Gere seems like a tall order for any actor, but this is Elordi’s part in Oh, Canada, a film about draft dodgers during the Vietnam War.

This time, Jacob Elordi isn’t a domineering teen stud. Instead he’s the younger brother of a Korean War veteran who falls in love with another man in Las Vegas.

    Frankenstein

Elordi is set to play the Monster himself (itself?) in the upcoming 2025 reboot of the classic story.

    Wuthering Heights

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Which is probably why Elordi was tapped to play the original teen boy with an attitude problem, Heathcliff, in Emerald Fennel’s upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights..

  • ‘He’s That Guy’: Falcons DC Raves About Former Clemson CB

‘He’s That Guy’: Falcons DC Raves About Former Clemson CB

A Clemson pro on the defensive side of the ball drew plenty of praise from one of his coaches this week.

Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake spoke glowingly about former Tiger cornerback A.J. Terrell, now in his fifth NFL season.

Terrell has established himself as a top-tier cover corner and indispensable member of Atlanta’s secondary since being selected by the Falcons in the first round (16th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft.

“A.J., he’s that guy,” Lake said during his Dec. 26 press conference, via Rowdy Sports. “He’s that top corner that all 32 teams are looking for in the draft or through free agency, and we thankfully have him right here in (the team’s facilities in) Flowery Branch.”

Opposing offenses are actively staying away from Terrell’s part of the field.

Per Next Gen Stats, Terrell (12.0%) has the third-lowest target rate in the NFL among cornerbacks with 300-plus coverage snaps, behind only Pat Surtain II of the Denver Broncos (10.2%) and Jaylon Johnson of the Chicago Bears (10.7%).

Not only are quarterbacks not throwing Terrell’s way very much, but when they do target him, his tight coverage is often forcing QBs into making tough throws. According to Next Gen Stats, receivers have been classified as open — or having 3-plus yards of separation at pass arrival — on just 20.7% of Terrell’s targets. That’s the fourth-lowest percentage in the NFL.

“We’re able to put him wherever we want, and we know that the quarterbacks better be aware if they’re going to throw his way, and he’s shown that through all of our games so far. He’s been playing lock-down corner. That’s the reason why you haven’t heard his name very much,” Lake said.

“He still has made some tremendous splash plays when the ball does get delivered to his side. But it is obviously an advantage for us to have a big-time player like A.J. Terrell.”

Terrell has started all 15 games for the Falcons thus far this season, tallying 61 total tackles (2.0 for loss), five pass breakups and two interceptions.

The 6-foot-1, 194-pounder has been especially stingy in coverage since Week 13, allowing only five total receptions for 46 yards on 10 targets.

A 2021 All-Pro, Terrell has recorded six interceptions, as well as nearly 50 pass breakups, in his NFL career so far. Before the 2024 season, he and the Falcons agreed on a massive four-year, $81 million contract extension, which will keep the now 26-year-old under contract with Atlanta through the 2028 season.

Whenever there’s a WR1 that the Falcons don’t want to let beat them in any given game, they’re more than comfortable turning to Terrell to try and lock that receiver down in man coverage.

“If there’s a player that we deem as, ‘Hey, we need to make sure the offense has to go through someone else,’ then definitely that’s going to be in the game plan,” Lake said. “We’ve had a fair amount of times where A.J. has tracked and latched on to the No. 1 wideout. … We’re able to do that with A.J. Again, we’re thankful that we have a big-time player like him that we can do that (with).”

Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator, Dean Pees, couldn’t contain his excitement when talking about former Clemson cornerback, A.J. Terrell. In a recent interview, Pees described Terrell as “that guy” – the player who always steps up when the team needs him the most.

Terrell, who was drafted by the Falcons in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, has quickly made a name for himself in the league. Pees praised Terrell’s work ethic, leadership, and ability to make plays on the field.

“He’s that guy you want on your team, the one who never gives up and always puts in the extra effort to be successful,” Pees said. “I have no doubt that A.J. is going to continue to shine in the NFL and be a key player for our defense.”

With Terrell’s impressive performance and Pees’ high praise, it’s clear that the Falcons have a rising star in their secondary. Fans can expect big things from this talented cornerback in the seasons to come. #He’sThatGuy #A.J.Terrell #AtlantaFalcons #NFL

  • Fantasy Football Storylines to watch in Week 17: Terry McLaurin gets another chance to show he’s matchup-proof

Fantasy Football Storylines to watch in Week 17: Terry McLaurin gets another chance to show he’s matchup-proof

I could use a lot of words to describe this game we play.

The early season was exciting. Hope filled the minds of every gamer as they drafted and set their rosters. Back then, they knew this was their year. And early returns on popular dart throws like Rashid Shaheed and Chuba Hubbard boosted our confidence.

But then reality entered the conversation.

Injuries and swings in performance were frustrating. Apparently, New Orleans couldn’t sustain their 31.2 PPG pace after their hot start. Tee Higgins couldn’t get on the field until Week 3. The entire TE position needed a “national day” for us to stop wondering if we should invest high draft picks into them. But still, we trudged on through two “bye-pocalypses” (bye-pocalypsi?) to finally get to the playoffs, and one other word comes to mind.

    Cruel.

A friend messaged me that he had lost by 0.5 points after outbursts from Jayden Daniels and Jonathan Taylor. Another had Daniels and Lamar Jackson but still had to sweat out a 20-point lead, as his opponent had Josh Jacobs heading into MNF. There’s no reprieve. The rollercoaster doesn’t stop until we get through one final week of chaos.

And unsurprisingly, the storylines from Week 16 were the perfect prelude to Championship Week.

    Start your stars.

Honestly, this type of “sage-like” advice looks simplistic in hindsight. I mean, sure, Terry McLaurin is the WR5 on the season, has more TDs in ’24 than his last two campaigns combined and could set career-highs in receptions and yards with two games left. He checks most of the boxes to be a star. But I can’t think of another WR garnering more start/sit questions heading into Week 16.

Remember, Washington was facing Philadelphia for the second time. In their first meeting, McLaurin earned two targets. The Eagles’ secondary suffocated Jayden Daniels and held him under 200 passing yards for the second time as a rookie. Accordingly, the anchoring bias against starting McLaurin was real. So, of course, Washington’s WR1 gave us a top-12 moment when we needed it most.

Now, to be fair, McLaurin only had six looks from Daniels on the day. Olamide Zaccheaus led the Commanders with eight attempts and got some revenge on his former team. Jamison Crowder was the one who snagged the go-ahead score. So, McLaurin’s box score could’ve looked much different. However, his opportunity trend over the previous three weeks was enough to keep him in starting lineups.

    • Week 12: 18.0% (target share), 25.0% (air yard share), 0.0% (end-zone targets)

    • Week 13: 28.0%, 35.0%, 50.0%

    • Week 15: 36.0%, 75.0%, 100.0%

Noah Brown went on IR. Zach Ertz got concussed midway in Week 15. Daniels had fewer options. Watching McLaurin’s target share balloon was the signal he could perform in a tough matchup. Or, at the very least, Daniels would look to him when coverage allowed. And while CB Quinyon Mitchell has been one of the best rookie defenders, McLaurin got by him often enough to keep his (and our) playoff hopes alive.

Luckily, the Commanders have a lighter defense coming to Maryland on Sunday. The Falcons’ secondary has surrendered the fourth-most PPR PPG to opposing WRs. Coincidentally, they’re also susceptible to big plays. Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson snuck by Atlanta for multiple touchdowns just a few weeks ago. Ladd McConkey worked the middle of the field for 117 yards. If McLaurin was more of a WR2 against the Eagles, he should firmly be in the top 12 to close out the fantasy playoffs.

I had to think about this one for a minute, but I think the best answer is Jalen McMillan.

The former Huskie spent his first two games back after a hamstring injury watching Mike Evans re-establish himself as one of the premiere WRs in the NFL. Since then, he’s settled into a strong WR2 role in Tampa. Over the last three weeks, McMillan has top-20 marks in receiving yards and touchdowns on 6.7 targets per game. Assuming Chris Godwin’s ankle surgery holds him out until the middle of the 2025 season, McMillan may be the ADP frontrunner in offseason drafts. However, McMillan’s path to work is obscure, and some people (i.e., me) won’t feel as comfortable starting a rookie WR2 during the playoffs. So, here are two other candidates for unsung hero.

I was grimacing while it happened, but Tyjae Spears’ first TD against Cincinnati had style to it. Tony Pollard had re-aggravated his ankle injury after multiple missed practices, opening up more work for Spears. And even with Pollard active these last two weeks, Spears has been on the field more often than Tennessee’s RB1.

    • Snap Rate: 36.0% (Weeks 1-14), 57.0% (Weeks 15 & 16)

    • Rushing Share: 26.0%, 30.0%

    • Target Share: 8.0%, 14.0%

Pollard’s wallet might prefer he plays, but his practice participation (or lack thereof) will likely tell us a different story. Regardless, Spears’ usage as a goal-line option and receiver is worth rostering. A rematch against the Jaguars, who Pollard ran over for 102 yards, puts Spears in FLEX territory. He’d be the most unlikely savior for rosters competing for a championship, but still, another came to mind.

I don’t know what Kendre Miller said or did to former HC Dennis Allen. But it was enough to wind up in Allen’s doghouse and on IR. However, Alvin Kamara’s groin injury has thrust the TCU product into the RB1 spotlight. And while the boxscore doesn’t highlight his impact, Miller has been as efficient as the Saints’ primary rusher.

    • Rushing Success Rate: 57.1% (Miller), 45.6% (Kamara)

    • Forced Missed Tackle Rate: 39.3%, 18.0%

    • Explosive Run Rate: 25.0%, 15.6%

Unfortunately, Miller had to face the Packers on Monday night. Yes, Jordan Mims scored more PPR points (8.2 to 5.1). But Miller ran into more stacked boxes and was the only NOLA RB to break a tackle. So, let’s look at Week 17.

He’ll get to run into (more like run past) a Raiders’ Maxx Crosby-less defensive front that’s allowed the 13th-most rushing yards per game since their Week 10 bye. You’d have to go back to Week 1 to find an RB with double-digit carries and wind up with fewer than 10 PPR points against the Raiders (Gus Edwards, 11 carries for 26 yards).

So, while most of the stars from the ’24 season will be in your starting spots, these unsung RB heroes (and other RBs like Gus Edwards and Jerome Ford) to close out playoff runs will be the key to hoisting a title.

If you didn’t watch Michael Penix Jr.’s first game, his interception got the most buzz:

Box score scouts will come away with lukewarm takes. He didn’t throw a touchdown. We don’t get points for handoffs that turn into TDs. But that analysis misses a couple of key takeaways. For instance, the play-calling shifted in Penix’s debut.

    • Plays per Game: 63.1 (Weeks 1-15), 65.0 (Week 16)

    • Play-Action Rate: 7.6%, 9.2%

    • Dropback Over Expectation Rate: -5.0%, -2.0%

Admittedly, it’s a one-game sample. Regardless, more plays and more pass attempts relative to the game situation (i.e., down, distance, score, etc.) were expectations we had for the offense heading into the season. And despite establishing a two-possession lead by the half, Penix had an 84.6% dropback rate in the final two quarters. In addition, he looked immediately comfortable with the passing concepts.

One of the concerns about Penix coming out of college was his ability to throw over the middle of the field. His 49.1% MoF throw rate was the lowest in this year’s class. However, Penix was able to connect with Drake London on in-breaking routes while still showing off his arm strength. At a mark of 0.16 EPA per dropback, Penix was more efficient than Kirk Cousins had been in six games.

Week 17 offers a similar environment.

Washington’s defensive front was able to make things difficult for Kenny Pickett on Sunday (43.3% pressure rate, 53.3% blitz rate). However, his receivers (outside of an untimely drop from DeVonta Smith) kept the offense moving. London and Darnell Mooney can do the same. So, while Penix shouldn’t be a QB in starting rosters for playoff teams, the rookie QB showed enough to make his WRs viable options for Week 17.

The prevailing wisdom for rostering players in projected blowouts is they should be part of why their team has a lead. Like, if the Bengals score 30 points, you’d assume Ja’Marr Chase got in on the action. Or, apparently, the Ravens’ success hinges on Derrick Henry rushing for more than 100 yards. Anyway, both examples highlight why the end of MNF wasn’t too much of a shock.

My condolences to anyone needing a miracle from Christian Watson or Romeo Doubs. But Spencer Rattler and a Kamara-less skill-position group weren’t going to force Green Bay into a fight. However, the beatdown should force us to re-examine the Packers’ tendencies on offense.

    • Passing Attempts per Game: 29.1, 27th (out of 34 qualifying starters – min. 200 dropbacks since Week 4)

    • Early-Down Passing Rate: 43.9%, 31st

    • Dropback Over Expectation Rate: -6.0%, T-29th

I mentioned the Bengals and Ravens earlier, as they encapsulate the two play-calling extremes. Joe Burrow lives in shotgun formations, and Lamar Jackson (literally) runs away from the competition. Regardless, knowing how each operates gives us an indication of what they’ll do to generate a lead. With Green Bay sitting in the latter offensive category, the WRs were at risk heading into Monday night. The week prior already presented us with red flags.

    • Romeo Doubs: 19.0% (target share), 19.0 (PPR points)

    • Jayden Reed: 23.0%, 11.1

    • Christian Watson: 23.0%, 8.6

The guys with the most targets generated the fewest fantasy points. It was Romeo Doubs coming down with two scores warranting FLEX consideration. However, in that same game, Jordan Love’s 28 dropbacks were the 10th-fewest of any starter. Green Bay had already established a multi-score lead by halftime, limiting its need to pass. It has given us its blueprint of how it responds to being in the driver’s seat. And it puts a cap on its passing game.

But Week 17 will be a different environment.

Love and company are traveling to Minnesota to face the Vikings. Sam Darnold’s crew ranks ninth in points scored per game on the season, and they’ve put up less than 20 points in a game just once since November. They’re the ideal opponent to push the Packers into a throwing contest. It’s not like they haven’t done it before. Plus, with Christian Watson’s knee injury, Reed and Doubs become more favorable options for fantasy managers looking for ceiling options in the fantasy finale.

As we head into the final week of the NFL regular season, fantasy football managers are keeping a close eye on some key storylines that could impact their championship hopes. One player who has been turning heads all season is Washington Football Team wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

McLaurin has emerged as one of the top fantasy wide receivers in the league, consistently putting up big numbers regardless of the matchup. In Week 17, McLaurin will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles, a team that he has historically performed well against.

With Washington fighting for a playoff spot, McLaurin will once again have the opportunity to show that he is truly matchup-proof. Fantasy managers who have relied on him all season will be hoping for another standout performance to carry them to victory in their championship matchups.

Keep an eye on McLaurin in Week 17 as he looks to solidify his status as one of the top fantasy assets in the league.

  • Roki Sasaki’s likeliest destinations among teams he’s met with

Roki Sasaki’s likeliest destinations among teams he’s met with

The Hot Stove has cooled a little bit in recent days, as most of the biggest names available have come off the board and teams regroup ahead of the new year. But there’s still plenty of talent out there, and while former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes looks for a record payday, the biggest prize might also be the biggest bargain: 23-year-old Japanese ace Roki Sasaki, who offers ace upside for Minor League money.

Sasaki is officially able to negotiate with MLB teams, and given his international amateur free agent status, just about everybody has taken a crack at him over the past couple of weeks. When it comes to scoring an in-person interview, however, only a select few have made the cut so far. Just five teams have been confirmed to have held meetings with Sasaki and his agent, Joel Wolfe, so far, and while some more are certainly to come (e.g., the Dodgers and Padres, still considered the frontrunners for his services), now is as good a time as any to handicap the race as it stands. Which team that’s earned a meeting is best positioned to land the explosive young righty?

For more news and rumors, check out MLB Insider Robert Murray’s work onThe Baseball Insiders podcast, subscribe to The Moonshot, our weekly MLB newsletter, and join the discord to get the inside scoop between now and the MLB offseason.

The most recent of Sasaki’s in-person meetings to be revealed might well be the most shocking one. Sure, the Texas Rangers won the World Series just 24 months ago, and there’s still plenty of talent in this lineup. But the team’s pitching more or less collapsed in 2024, and it’s not like there’s a particularly strong track record of pitcher development in recent years.

Arlington would give Sasaki a little less media spotlight while still offering plenty of endorsement opportunities (and an airport hub for easy access to Japan). But several teams figure to offer better off-field arguments, and the on-field product wouldn’t seem to be all that appealing at the moment. Of course, Sasaki still asked them for a meeting, so there has to have been something that caught his eye.

The Yankees were among the first teams reported to have landed an in-person meeting with Sasaki, and any time Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner can get in the room with a big-time free agent, you can never count them out. But after some negative interactions with media while playing in Japan, it really does seem like Sasaki might not be wild about dealing with the intense, sometimes irrational scrutiny that comes with playing in pinstripes. And after the Juan Soto debacle, you do have to wonder whether Hal has his father George’s ability to close the deal amid stiff competition.

New York offers a competitive roster and plenty of endorsement opportunity, and if the East Coast were a deal-breaker, you’d have to think they wouldn’t have landed a meeting in the first place. Plus, the team can call on former Yankees Hideki Matsui and Masahiro Tanaka to play up its connection to Japanese stars. But while New York has gotten farther with Sasaki than it did with, say, Shohei Ohtani, it still has to be considered a long shot here based on what we know so far about the righty’s priorities.

With Corbin Burnes reportedly well out of the Ricketts’ price range, it sure seems like Sasaki is the only option left for Jed Hoyer to find the Chicago Cubs an impact addition to the rotation. The good news is that the team reportedly managed to score an in-person meeting, and there are plenty of selling points to offer, from a competitive roster (especially after the Kyle Tucker trade) to a national brand to access to an airport hub to a fellow Japanese ace already on board in Shota Imanaga.

Of course, there’s also not-so-good news. While closer than, say, New York, Chicago still isn’t as geographically convenient as potential West Coast destinations like the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, and Chicago media has a tendency to be less than kind to Cubs players who underperform. Overall, there’s plenty of reason to believe that Sasaki would take the Cubs seriously, but not quite enough to vault them to the top of this list.

Maybe this is just the afterglow of the Juan Soto sweepstakes talking, but how can you count out Steve Cohen and David Stearns for anything at this point? Sure, Cohen’s money won’t be as decisive a factor here, but the 2024 season proved that the new Mets leadership is up there with anybody when it comes to pitching development, and current Japanese ace Kodai Senga is always around to help with the recruiting pitch.

The same Yankees caveats apply here; New York media is a different animal, and Queens isn’t as convenient a trip back to Japan as, say, Los Angeles or San Diego or San Francisco. But if Sasaki is really willing to consider coming to the East Coast (or really anywhere east of the Rockies), you’d have to think that the Mets are currently the team with the most compelling pitch when you consider their roster, their organizational stability and the proof of concept that landing Soto represents.

Maybe this comes as a surprise; the Giants haven’t exactly been a prime destination for free agents of late, and they couldn’t even score a meeting with Shohei Ohtani or Yoshinobu Yamamoto last winter. But Buster Posey really does seem to have given San Francisco some much-needed juice, as evidenced by the team finally hitting on a big name with the Willy Adames signing earlier this month. And on paper, there’s a lot to offer here: SFO has as many direct flights to Tokyo as any airport in the contiguous U.S., the roster is a bit better than you think, the spotlight isn’t quite as bright as it is in L.A. or New York and Oracle Park is among the most pitcher-friendly spots in the entire league.

Will all of that be enough to unseat the Dodgers or Padres, both of whom are above San Francisco in the NL West pecking order and enjoy the same geographic advantage? That remains to be seen. But of the teams that we know have earned a meeting with Sasaki, the Giants might be the sweet spot, combining some cause for on-field optimism while checking every off-field box.

Roki Sasaki, a highly touted Japanese pitching prospect, has been meeting with several Major League Baseball teams to discuss potential signings. With his electric fastball and promising secondary pitches, Sasaki has generated interest from teams across the league. While it’s still uncertain where he will ultimately land, here are some of the likeliest destinations for the young phenom based on reports and rumors:

    1. Seattle Mariners: The Mariners have a strong history of signing Japanese pitchers, and they have shown a keen interest in Sasaki. With a need for young pitching talent, Seattle could be a perfect fit for the 19-year-old hurler.

    2. San Diego Padres: The Padres have been aggressive in pursuing international talent in recent years, and Sasaki would add to their impressive stable of young arms. Pairing him with fellow Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish could make for a formidable rotation in San Diego.

    3. Texas Rangers: The Rangers have also expressed interest in Sasaki, and they have the financial flexibility to make a competitive offer. With a need for pitching depth, Texas could be a strong contender for the young right-hander.

    4. Toronto Blue Jays: The Blue Jays have a strong presence in Japan and have had success signing Japanese players in the past. With a promising young core and a need for pitching, Toronto could be an attractive destination for Sasaki.

While these are just a few of the teams that have been linked to Roki Sasaki, it’s clear that he will have no shortage of suitors when it comes time to make a decision. Wherever he ends up, one thing is certain – Sasaki has the potential to be a future star in Major League Baseball.

Kawhi Leonard took part in a five-on-five practice Thursday, and Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said his star forward is making progress in recovering from a right knee injury but there is still no timetable for his season debut.

“He has to play some more five on five,” Lue said. “So we got to get all the days we got to get him in, keep stacking the days and see how he fares after that.”

Leonard will not play against the Golden State Warriors on Friday, nor will he join the team on a three-game trip that starts Monday in New Orleans, Lue said.

While the team is away, Leonard will practice with the San Diego Clippers, the Clippers’ G League team. That will give Leonard more time to play five on five and get the “right amount of reps,” Lue said.

“Making sure he’s doing everything so this doesn’t occur again so we can kind of monitor the fluid and see how it’s working,” Lue said. “So far it’s been really good and we just want to continue to keep progressing.”

This story originally appeared in Los Angeles Times.

The Los Angeles Clippers have provided an update on Kawhi Leonard’s recovery from a knee injury, stating that his progress is “really good” but he is still not yet ready to return to the court.

Leonard has been sidelined since suffering a partial tear of his right ACL during the playoffs last season. The Clippers have been cautious with his recovery, not wanting to rush him back before he is fully healthy.

Head coach Tyronn Lue spoke about Leonard’s progress, saying, “Kawhi is doing really well. His progress has been really good. He’s been working hard and staying on top of his rehab. But he’s still not ready to return just yet.”

The Clippers have managed to stay competitive without Leonard, currently holding a solid record in the Western Conference. However, they are undoubtedly eager to have their star player back in the lineup as soon as possible.

While there is no definitive timeline for Leonard’s return, the Clippers remain optimistic about his recovery and are hopeful that he will be back on the court in the near future. In the meantime, they will continue to monitor his progress and provide updates as they become available.

Cosby Show actor who was forced to work at Trader Joe’s says he’s still struggling to make ends meet

A beloved ‘Cosby Show’ actor opened up having to work at Trader Joe’s and the financial struggles he continues to endure.

Geoffrey Owens, 63, widely recognized for his role as Elvin Tibideaux on the iconic TV series, made headlines in 2018 when a photo of him bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s went viral.

While some on social media mocked him for taking a ‘regular’ job, an outpouring of support soon countered the negativity.

‘At first, there was some negative stuff about basically the job-shaming. A “where is he now” kinda thing,’ he told the Atlanta’s V-103 radio station

‘But then, very soon after that, there was all this support and encouragement from all over the world.’

Owens revealed that he had to quit Trader Joe’s after the news broke.

‘It wasn’t like I quit knowing I would be making a lot of money soon or anything,’ he explained.

‘I just felt like I wasn’t going to be able to handle that kind of scrutiny and attack on my privacy.’

In a recent interview, Owens revealed that he had quit Trader Joe’s before the news broke

He spoke highly of the grocery chain and revealed that he had even requested additional hours at the store.

Owens emphasized that despite his successful acting career, he still faces financial hardship, a fact that surprised many.

‘Even today, right now, as we speak, I still struggle to make a living,’ he said.

‘I struggle every day to make my ends meet.

‘And people can’t get their heads around that because they see me in movies.’

Owens explained that his Cosby Show residuals were not substantial, and that the show’s removal from syndication significantly impacted his income.

He said that the residuals were ‘never particularly wonderful for me, I was here and there. I did maybe twenty percent of the shows.’

The viral attention in 2018 led to a surge of acting opportunities for Owens.

Tyler Perry cast him in The Haves and the Have Nots, and he landed roles in Power, Power Book II: Ghost, NCIS: New Orleans, Billions, and All Rise.

He currently appears in Damon Wayans’ sitcom Poppa’s House and recently starred in the family film Mr. Santa: A Christmas Extravaganza.

Reflecting on his time at Trader Joe’s, Owens told People in 2018 that the experience came from necessity after The Cosby Show reruns were pulled.

He said: ‘That was one of the elements that led to my getting to the place where I said to myself, ‘I have to do something’ and I was thinking, ‘What can I do?’ and the answer ended up being Trader Joe’s, which is actually a wonderful situation for me in many ways.’

The Cosby Show actor, Geoffrey Owens, who made headlines last year after being photographed working at a Trader Joe’s store, has revealed that he is still struggling to make ends meet.

Despite the outpouring of support he received after the photo went viral, Owens admitted in a recent interview that he is still facing financial challenges. The actor, who played Elvin Tibideaux on the hit 80s sitcom, explained that he has had difficulty finding acting work since the incident and has had to rely on odd jobs to make ends meet.

Owens emphasized that he is grateful for the opportunities he did receive after the Trader Joe’s photo surfaced, including a guest role on the TV show “NCIS: New Orleans.” However, he acknowledged that the entertainment industry can be unpredictable and that he is still struggling to secure steady work.

Despite the setbacks, Owens remains optimistic about his future and is determined to continue pursuing his passion for acting. He hopes that his story will inspire others to persevere in the face of adversity and never give up on their dreams.
