Pittsburgh Steelers get contract price on Tee Higgins
What will it take for the Pittsburgh Steelers to land Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins? Higgins is set to become a free agent, and while the Bengals could still control his status with a franchise tag again, if he hits free agency, Higgins is expected to get a huge contract.
On Saturday, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler talked about Higgins’ future in free agency and what the price might be to land him for a team. It seems that $30 million per season would be around the right mark for Higgins, who has proven to be a top wide receiver in the NFL.
“The over/under on Bengals receiver Tee Higgins’ market is $30 million per season, and the majority of team personnel that I spoke with believe he’ll hit or clear the over. The lowest estimate I heard was somewhere slightly above DeVonta Smith’s three-year, $75 million deal. The rest saw him breaking into the $30 million range, based on his status as a No. 1-caliber receiver and the number of teams desperate for pass-catching help,” Fowler wrote.
Higgins has shined next to Ja’Marr Chase, and even when Chase is out, Higgins has produced. Injuries have become an issue for Higgins at times, and that could be the one issue that a contract for Higgins raises.
Quarterback Joe Burrow, Chase, and Higgins have all expressed a desire to play together for the future, but the Bengals will have to shuffle the chairs on deck to allow that occur.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly received the contract price for wide receiver Tee Higgins, who was selected by the team in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Jennifer B Higgins has been appointed as the acting USCIS director on Jan 20, 2025. Previously, she has served the role of USCIS deputy director since Jan 31, 2022.
Prior to this appointment, she served in a variety of leadership positions during her more than two decades of federal service, including serving as the acting chief of staff at DHS since September 2021 and the associate director for the Refugee, Asylum and International Operations Directorate (RAIO) from January 2017 to 2021.
Holding a master’s degree in comparative politics, Higgins has been the recipient of several awards during her federal career that began in 1999.
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) manages immigration benefits in the United States.
This includes processing applications for visas, citizenship, asylum, and more. USCIS also issues employment authorization documents (EADs).
In February 2022, USCIS had unveiled its new mission statement terming America as a ‘Nation of welcome and possibility’ for immigrants. The new mission statement was a stark contrast to the step taken by the Trump administration, which in February 2018, had deleted the reference to America being a ‘nation of immigrants’ from its mission statement.
Last Sept, USCIS also ushered in a new logo, which features The Statue of Liberty, with the inscription – Upholding America’s Promise. The earlier logo was the American seal depicting the bald eagle.
Immigration experts believe the Trump administration is likely to change the mission statement again to reflect its stand on immigration.

Pro Bowl Selections Send Message For Zac Taylor; Catch If You Can Tireless Ja’Marr Chase And Steelers Nemesis Tee Higgins; Mims, Chase Brown Game-Time Calls

Backup tackle Devin Cochran has seen all but one of his first 151 NFL snaps come in the last three weeks as he’s come off the bench to help keep the Bengals unscathed in the playoff chase.
With Taylor basically calling rookie right tackle Amarius Mims (ankle/hand) a game-time decision after he didn’t practice Thursday, we could see Cochran again.
Either way it works out, what a three weeks it’s been for him.
He found out he was making his first start in Tennessee about 90 minutes before the Dec. 15 game when Cody Ford got ill and couldn’t back up left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. The next week against Cleveland, Cochran played 22 snaps as Mims dealt with those ankle and hand issues and last Saturday night he played the final 60 snaps after Mims took the first 30.
And, oh yeah, he missed Tuesday’s walkthrough when his first child, Ezekiel “Zeke,” Cochran, was born in the middle of the night.
Following it all has been offensive line guru Jim McNally, the Bengals’ long-time assistant coach on their first two Super Bowl teams and later a consultant to offensive line coach Frank Pollack.
It was when he was a consultant a few years ago during the undrafted Cochran’s rookie year that McNally bumped into him in the lobby of the AC Hotel at The Banks.
“He gave me a compliment of how I looked in training camp. I was like, ‘Really?” Cochran said this week. “From that point on. The next offseason I was looking for some trips I could make to find out different things like I do every year. I reached out and he was excited to help.”
Cochran went to the 81-year-old McNally’s hometown of Buffalo, N.Y., for a couple of days and got the full Mac treatment, which is intense teaching all the time.
“Dude, he’s a maniac. You ever see him do pullups?” Cochran asked. “He’s big on fast feet, fast hands, proactive hands. Taking the fight to the defender. Like Frank,” Cochran said. “Eliminating time and space.”
Cochran, a Vanderbilt undergrad and Georgia Tech grad student, is used to homework. He consumes it all from Pollack and assistant O-line coach Derek Frazier. And if he can do or get extra, he does. McNally has also been sending along critiques. There may be a 60-year gap there, but football closes it fast.
“He’s been happy and that’s been awesome,” said Cochran, who knows his own game. “I think (he likes) the mindset. He’s an old-school guy. He likes that brawling, brutal type of thing.”
The Pro Bowl selections have been announced, and there is a clear message for Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor: unleash the dynamic duo of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins on the field.Chase, the tireless playmaker out of LSU, has been a force to be reckoned with all season long. His speed, agility, and hands have made him one of the most dangerous receivers in the league. Higgins, on the other hand, has been a thorn in the side of the Pittsburgh Steelers, consistently making big plays when it matters most.
With these two weapons at his disposal, Taylor has the opportunity to create some game-changing plays in the Pro Bowl. Whether it’s a deep bomb to Chase or a clutch catch by Higgins, the possibilities are endless.
But Taylor should also keep an eye on other potential game-time playmakers, such as Denzel Mims and Chase Brown. These two have shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season and could provide some much-needed spark in crucial moments.

If Bengals make playoffs, Tee Higgins shouldn’t play without a new deal
The Bengals need three things to go their way in order to get to the playoffs. If they beat the Steelers and if the Broncos and Dolphins lose, Cincinnati is in.
For receiver Tee Higgins, that becomes a problem. The kind of problem that Bengals fans won’t want to hear about.
On Saturday, Higgins will finish his franchise-tag season, which pays him $21.8 million. That’s $1.21 million per week.
Postseason pay, as spelled out by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, is peanuts by comparison. Higgins would get $45,500 for the wild-card round. He’d get $54,500 for the divisional round. He’d get $77,000 for the conference championship game. He’d get $96,000 for losing the Super Bowl and $171,000 for winning it.
That’s a total upside of $348,000, for four extra games. Four extra opportunities to be injured. Four extra chances to have his shot at the open market delayed or derailed.
From a business standpoint, it’s a no-brainer. Higgins should refuse to play without getting a new contract. From a P.R. standpoint, Higgins would be crushed by fans and some in the media for choosing not to play despite the low pay.
Of course, Higgins would be risking potential punishment if he flat-out refused to play. While he’d obviously lose his playoff check(s), a fine for conduct detrimental to the team could allow the Bengals to retroactively fine Higgins the amount of a game check — even though he will have earned all of his 2024 game checks.
The better approach would be to cite an injury, any injury, to justify not playing.
Starting in October or thereabouts, we hear every year that no player is 100 percent. Higgins definitely isn’t; he’s questionable for Saturday’s Week 18 game with ankle and knee injuries.
So if the Bengals win and the Broncos and Dolphins lose, Higgins can say he’s not healthy enough to play in the playoffs. And that he’s not willing to put his free-agency payday at risk unless the Bengals do what they won’t do: Give him a long-term contract and the financial security that comes along with it.
It’s a business decision. When owners make them, fans and some in the media applaud. When players make them, fans and some in the media find fault.
If those who would find fault or one of their family members were in the situation in which Higgins might soon find himself, they wouldn’t.
As a Bengals fan, I am thrilled at the possibility of my team making the playoffs this season. However, there is one important caveat that I believe should be considered if this dream becomes a reality: Tee Higgins should not play without a new deal.Higgins has been a standout player for the Bengals this season, showcasing his talent and potential as a top wide receiver in the league. With his rookie contract set to expire soon, it is crucial that the Bengals prioritize securing his future with the team before risking his health and performance on the field.
If the Bengals make the playoffs, it will undoubtedly be an exciting time for the team and its fans. But it is important to remember the long-term implications of player contracts and the importance of taking care of our star players. So, before Higgins takes the field in any playoff games, let’s make sure he is locked in with a new deal that reflects his value and commitment to the team.
