It’s time to punch a ticket to WrestleMania.
The 2025 Royal Rumble will officially kick off the road to WrestleMania, as the iconic first premium live event of the year takes place Saturday. The night is headlined by the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches, which each will have 30 entrants enter the ring and the winner will be guaranteed a championship opportunity at WrestleMania 41 in April, a potentially career-altering opportunity.
That won’t be all happening either; the WWE Tag Team Championships will be on the card in a two-out-of-three-falls match, and Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will again take their heated rivalry into another Undisputed WWE Championship bout.
WrestleMania 41 is more than 75 days away, but the extravagant event is about to take shape, starting what is the biggest time period in WWE.

Royal Rumble 2025 is Saturday, Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. ET.
The 2025 Royal Rumble will be at Lucas Oil Stadium − home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts − in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The event can be streamed on Peacock, but you must have their premium or premium-plus subscription to watch. Internationally, it will be available on Netflix in most markets.
Matches not in order
The 30-person match starts off with two entrants, and every 90 seconds, another competitor enters the match.
The only way to be eliminated from the match is to be thrown over the top rope of the ring and both feet must hit the floor. If only one foot hits the floor or goes under the top rope, the competitor may re-enter the ring. The match goes until there is one person remaining in the ring that hasn’t been eliminated. The winner of the match then gets a guaranteed championship match at WrestleMania.

It’s that time of the year. The Royal Rumble means the WrestleMania sign goes up, and it will be present during Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown leading up to the event.

Since 1993, the winner in the men’s match has mostly been successful in capturing a title at the flagship event, going 17-12 in those matches for a 58.6% success rate. There have been some instances of Royal Rumble winners either not getting a championship opportunity at WrestleMania or, like John Cena in 2008, deciding to cash in their opportunity prior.

Save the best for last when it comes to the men’s match. Five winners have come in at No. 30, the most of any entry number. All of the wins have happened since 2007. The second most is No. 27 with four wins and No. 1 and No. 24 with three wins. Nos. 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 17, 20, 21 and 26 have never been winners.

The Atlanta Hawks reportedly may turn to the New Orleans Pelicans to find a replacement for Jalen Johnson after the forward suffered a season-ending shoulder injury.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst (1:20 mark) reported on Friday that there has been “a little bit of a warmup” regarding trade talks involving Brandon Ingram.
“Specifically, keep an eye on the Atlanta Hawks,” he said. “They just lost their star wing Jalen Johnson for the season, they may start to get interested in making a move especially for Brandon Ingram. Keep an eye on that.”
This has been a season to forget for the Pelicans, who entered with expectations of a playoff run but instead sit in 14th place in the Western Conference standings at 12-36 thanks in large part to injuries.
Ingram is scheduled for free agency after the season and could leave anyway, so it would make sense that New Orleans would be interested in trading him.
It might not be a long-term rebuild with Zion Williamson as the franchise player, so any assets the front office could get in an Ingram deal could help the Pelicans return to competitive form as soon as next season.
And Atlanta is battling for position in the Eastern Conference standings. It is 22-26 and in ninth place, which would put it in the play-in tournament if it cannot make up the two-game deficit on the sixth-seeded Miami Heat.
Losing Johnson will make that playoff battle all the more difficult, although Ingram would be a solid replacement.
The biggest question mark with the Duke product is health, as he has played just 18 games this season and last appeared in a contest on Dec. 7 thanks to an ankle injury.
Ingram has been effective when he does play and is averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists a night while shooting 46.5 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from deep. Pairing him with Trae Young could make the Hawks dangerous in a play-in or playoff situation, although the front office will have to decide how much it is willing to give up given the team’s position in the standings.
As for the Pelicans, getting something back in return before he potentially leaves in free agency would make sense.
The Atlanta Hawks have been linked to New Orleans Pelicans star Brandon Ingram following a recent injury to rookie Jalen Johnson. With Johnson expected to miss significant time, the Hawks are reportedly exploring potential trade options to bolster their roster.
Ingram, a versatile forward who can score from all three levels, would provide a much-needed offensive boost for the Hawks. The 24-year-old is averaging 21.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game this season, and his ability to create his own shot would make him a valuable addition to Atlanta’s lineup.
While no formal trade talks have been reported yet, the Hawks are believed to be keeping a close eye on Ingram’s situation in New Orleans. With the Pelicans struggling this season and facing tough decisions regarding their roster, a trade involving Ingram could be a possibility.

P.J. Tucker’s ill-fated time with the Los Angeles Clippers has come to a close.
The Clippers are trading the 39-year-old forward, who has yet to play this season, along with center Mo Bamba and a future second-round pick to the Utah Jazz for forward Drew Eubanks and guard Patty Mills, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The news doesn’t come as a surprise. Coming into the year, the Clippers announced that Tucker wouldn’t be with the team.
“P.J. is a pro who has achieved a lot in his career and there’s more he wants to accomplish,” the Clippers said in a statement on Oct. 6. “We will continue working with P.J. and his representative to find the best situation for him moving forward.”
It was unclear if that would eventually result in a buyout—Tucker is on a $11.5 million player option this season and will become a free agent in the summer—or a trade. Ultimately, the Clippers were able to move him via the trade route.
Bamba, meanwhile, has been used as a reserve in the frontcourt. He’s averaging 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per contest through 28 appearances.
Swapping Tucker and Bamba for Eubanks and Mills, both bench players in Utah, doesn’t improve the Clippers that much. The trade does, however, ease their financial burden slightly.
Tucker will also welcome the change of scenery.
A divorce felt inevitable after he wasn’t a big part of the rotation last season. He was traded to the Clippers as part of the James Harden deal and appeared in just 28 games (seven starts), averaging 1.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 15 minutes per game while shooting 36.7 percent from three.
Tucker publicly expressed a desire to be moved last season, which ultimately cost him a $75,000 fine.
“I want to be somewhere where I’m needed, wanted and can do it all,” Tucker said in those comments in February. “I don’t know what’s going to happen but I have my fingers crossed and I’m hoping to go somewhere else, whether I get bought out and choose where I go or where I can play.”
Tucker didn’t get his trade last year, but this season the Clippers were able to find a suitor in Utah.
As for what he offers at this point in his career, that’s up for debate. The power forward has traditionally been a rugged, multi-positional defender and glue guy who could hit enough spot-up threes to not completely tank his own team’s offense. But given his age and limited role at this point in his career, his $11.5 million salary is fairly steep.
Considering the Jazz own the Western Conference’s worst record (10-36), a buyout seems the likeliest outcome. They could prefer to keep Tucker’s expiring salary on the books to preserve a sizable cap hold for 2025-26.
In a blockbuster trade that sent shockwaves through the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to trade P.J. Tucker, Mo Bamba, and more to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Patty Mills and Drew Eubanks.
The trade, which was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, is said to be a win-win for both teams. The Jazz are getting some much-needed defensive help in Tucker and a promising young center in Bamba, while the Clippers are adding some much-needed scoring punch with Mills and depth with Eubanks.
Tucker, known for his tenacious defense and veteran leadership, will be a valuable addition to the Jazz as they look to make a deep playoff run. Bamba, a former lottery pick, has shown flashes of potential and could benefit from a change of scenery in Utah.
On the other side, Mills will provide the Clippers with some much-needed shooting and playmaking off the bench, while Eubanks will add depth to their frontcourt rotation.

Kevin Durant is such a perfect model of a pure scorer that he might belong in a museum.
Just ask former teammate Kyrie Irvig.
“He’s that guy that you see almost like a monument in a science museum of just like, what does a great scorer look like?” Irving said in a Friday piece by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “Seven feet, able to handle the ball, able to shoot over anybody, but also a fierce competitor.”
It’s hard to argue with Irving’s assessment.
Durant entered the league scoring as the 2007-08 Rookie of the Year and hasn’t looked back since. He is still putting up astonishing numbers at the age of 36 and enters Friday’s game against the Golden State Warriors averaging 27.3 points a night.
That means it should only take him three or four more games to score the 94 points he needs to become just the eighth player in NBA history to score 30,000 career points. He will join legendary names such as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant when he does so.
Only Jordan (10) and Chamberlain (seven) have more scoring titles than Durant’s four, and MacMahon noted he, Larry Bird and Steve Nash are the only players in league history with multiple 50/40/90 shooting-split seasons.
That’s not bad company to keep.
As Irving described, Durant is a scoring machine who can find the basket a variety of ways. He remains unstoppable even at this stage of his career and has been a bright spot for a Suns team that is battling through inconsistency with a 24-22 record that has them in ninth place in the Western Conference standings.
But they will be a threat to any opponent in the playoffs as long as Durant is on the floor.
