“Jean expands our already robust transportation and defense practices while also bringing a new level of energy policy expertise to Summit,” Summit Partner Mark Dedrick said in a release. “She also brings regional diversity with her strong ties to the Northeast. • Berry Tramel’s assessment of the coordinator hires in Stillwater seems fair:
(Todd) Grantham has possibilities and (Doug) Meacham seems a stretch. But the way college football goes these days, we have no idea. Shippensburg worked, Gannon didn’t and Jim Knowles turned the Cowboys into a defensive menace. Now we’ve got the runaway transfer portal, which makes contenders out of Indiana. Any scenario seems possible for Gundy’s new hires.
In today’s edition of Daily Bullets, we have some exciting news for basketball fans as Cade Cunningham has officially clinched his spot in the upcoming All-Star game. The rising star has been putting up impressive numbers all season and has finally earned his place among the league’s best players.
In other news, sports analyst Berry Tramel has shared his thoughts on the recent coordinator hires in the NFL. With several teams making changes to their coaching staff, Tramel breaks down the impact that these hires could have on the upcoming season.

Shane Starr, who owns Starrcade inside the mall, said he has hired a lawyer to investigate the property owner. He also hopes to band together with other business owners at some point to file a class action lawsuit against the owner.
“We’re trying to get compensated for the unfair usage of our rent. There are line items for utilities which I’ve been paying for a year and a half since we signed our lease here. To find out that we pay month after month after month and then he turns around and their group turns around and doesn’t pay their utility bills, it makes you ask where the money is actually going?” Starr told Channel 2′s Michele Newell.
Kohan Retail Investment Group owns Town Center at Cobb. Utility companies in other states confirmed with Newell that the same company has run into similar problems in Kansas, Ohio and Iowa.
“Towne West Square was disconnected for nonpayment 7 times in the past 12 months. The mall has been owned by Kohan Retail Investment Group during these shutoffs,” said Courtney Lewis, who is the Senior Communications Manger of Media for Energy.
“I can confirm Ohio Edison had notified Chapel Hill Mall at least twice that electric service was in danger of disconnection because of nonpayment before the mall ultimately closed,” said Hannah Catlett, Advanced Communications Representative.
TRENDING STORIES:
According to the Cobb County Tax Commissioner’s Office, there are currently three tax liens against the property owner for 2024, with more than $1,000,000 in back taxes that were due in October of 2024.
The Cobb County tax commissioners officers says it reached out to the owner multiple times before officially filing the tax liens and reached out multiple times this year.
The office said it’s last resort is a tax sale which could happen in May if the back taxes aren’t paid. Between now and May the County tax commissioner said there will be a series of steps her office takes leading to the tax sale, if the owner fails to pay what is owed.
“I hate that this guy did this, but at the same time I still really want to see this mall succeed,” said Starr.
“We care about this mall and we are here a lot and to find out that somebody is trying to make a profit off not caring about it really upset us. We’re here today to kind of give what money we can as young adults who don’t make a lot to the small businesses,” said Ezra Morrison.
Channel 2 Action News first told you Tuesday about the Town Center at Cobb posting signs on the main entrances that it would be closed.
The mall’s owner claimed a maintenance issue resulted in the closure and that it would be resolved in two hours. However, Channel 2 Action News learned that the mall had “highly delinquent” Georgia Power bills.
Georgia Power officials told Newell that they have been working with Town Center for several months to resolve the payments and disconnecting service at the mall was a “last resort.”
The anchor stores, Belk, Macy’s and JCPenney, were able to stay open since they paid their own bills and have separate entrances.
In a recent development, a store owner at Town Center at Cobb mall has taken legal action by hiring a lawyer to investigate the mall owner. The store owner believes that there may be unethical practices or breaches of contract by the mall owner that are negatively impacting their business.
According to WSB-TV Channel 2, the store owner has expressed concerns about the lack of transparency and communication from the mall owner, leading them to seek legal counsel to look into the matter further. The lawyer will be examining the lease agreements, financial records, and any other relevant documents to determine if there are any grounds for legal action.
The store owner hopes that by taking this step, they will be able to protect their business interests and hold the mall owner accountable for any wrongdoing. As this story continues to unfold, it raises important questions about the rights and responsibilities of both mall owners and tenants in commercial lease agreements.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.
Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today the hiring of John Morton as offensive coordinator and the promotion of Kelvin Sheppard to defensive coordinator. Contract terms were not disclosed.
JOHN MORTON – OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR
Serving as the Lions’ Senior Offensive Assistant in 2022, Morton returns to Detroit as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2025. Between his stints in Detroit, Morton spent two seasons as the Broncos’ Passing Game Coordinator (2023-24), helping Broncos QB Bo Nix account for the second-most passing touchdowns (29), third-most completions (376) and eighth-most passing yards (3,775) by a rookie quarterback in NFL history in 2024.
Embarking on his 23rd NFL season in 2025, Morton’s previous NFL experience includes serving as the Raiders’ senior offensive assistant (2019-21), New York Jets’ offensive coordinator (2017), New Orleans Saints’ wide receivers coach (2015-16), San Francisco 49ers’ wide receivers/passing game coach (2011-14), Saints’ offensive assistant/passing game coach (2006), as well as a variety of offensive coaching roles with the Raiders from 1998-2004. His first NFL experience came with the Raiders’ personnel department in 1997.
In 2005, Morton served as the passing game/wide receivers coach at the University of San Diego and from 2007-10, he served in a variety of roles on the offensive side of the ball at USC, including offensive coordinator. A native of Rochester Hills, Mich. and graduate of Western Michigan, Morton entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 1993 and had practice squad and training camp stints as a wide receiver with the Raiders, Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars over the 1993-96 seasons. He also played with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL from 1995-96 and with the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe in 1997.
KELVIN SHEPPARD – DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR
Sheppard enters his fifth season in Detroit and his first as the Lions’ defensive coordinator in 2025 after previously serving as the team’s linebackers coach (2022-24) and outside linebackers coach (2021). Under Sheppard’s tutelage, LB Jack Campbell became the first Lions player to produce at least 85 tackles and five tackles for loss in each of a player’s first two-career seasons since the data began being tracked in 1994, and LB Alex Anzalone (2022-23) became just the fourth player in franchise history to produce at least 125 tackles in multiple seasons. In 2022, Sheppard helped guide LB Malcolm Rodriguez to become Detroit’s first rookie selected in the sixth round-or-later to start in Week 1 of his same draft year since 1987.
Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Sheppard was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the third round (68th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft out of LSU and split eight seasons (2011-18) with the Bills, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants and Lions. He appeared in 107 career games (63 starts) and logged 400 total tackles, 3.0 sacks and two interceptions. Following his playing career, he returned to the LSU football program in 2020 as director of player development under head coach Ed Orgeron. At LSU, Sheppard was tasked with helping players with their academic direction, social development and overall quality of life.
The Detroit Lions have officially announced their new offensive and defensive coordinator hires for the upcoming season.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Lions have brought in former Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator Shane Waldron. Waldron comes with a wealth of experience in developing high-powered passing attacks, and the Lions are hopeful that he can help elevate their offense to new heights.
Defensively, the Lions have hired former Baltimore Ravens linebackers coach Mike Macdonald. Macdonald is known for his innovative defensive schemes and his ability to develop young talent. The Lions are excited to see what he can bring to their defense and how he can help improve their performance on that side of the ball.
Both Waldron and Macdonald come highly recommended and are seen as rising stars in the coaching world. Lions fans are hopeful that these new hires will help bring success to the team in the coming season. Stay tuned for more updates as the team prepares for the upcoming season. #OnePride
Netflix’s “The Recruit” is a poppier, more bubblegum spy show than Paramount+ with Showtime’s serious, dour and more authentic-seeming “The Agency.” But “The Recruit” is also more fun, a bit more of a lark that, profanity aside, could probably survive on a broadcast network.
No wonder “The Recruit” comes from Alexi Hawley, the writer and showrunner of ABC’s “The Rookie.”
Now streaming its six-episode second season, “The Recruit” picks up right where season one left off: Newbie CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo) was held captive by mysterious blond Karolina (Maddie Hasson), who claims to be the daughter of the former CIA asset Max (Laura Haddock). Karolina shoots Max in the chest. Annnnndddd, cliffhanger!
As the new season begins, Owen declares Max dead as the CIA captures and attempts to turn Karolina (aka Nichka) into a double agent. As the series goes on, the show’s supporting cast gets more involved in this season’s mission.
“When you start a show, you’re not exactly sure how everything’s going to pop,” Hawley said in an interview last week. “And then the second you realize there’s some genius there with this casting, you want to write to them.”
The new season also explores Owen’s backstory, the loss of his father and a childhood friend in South Korea who figures into the plot.
“As a guy who is built to jump into the deep end without looking as a character trait, which, of course, is the stupidest thing to do when you’re in the CIA, I did want to start him in a place where he had learned some things, where he was trying to grow up,” Hawley said. “But at the end of the day, as much as he tried to do better, he falls back on his instincts, which are to look before he leaps. It’s part of the superpower, but at the same time, leaning into this idea of his actions having consequences which now are much more serious than they used to be.”
Hawley has a cameo in “The Recruit” season two finale as a submarine commander, which Hawley said they managed to film in an actual U.S. Navy submarine (doubles were used for the sub exterior distance shot; exterior close-ups of characters on the conning tower’s bridge were filmed atop a yacht).
“It was a practical decision” to appear on camera, Hawley said, noting that the show also filmed in the CIA and the U.S. State Department this season. “I had gotten used to jumping through the security hoops that you have to jump through to get permission, so for me it was the easiest thing to do: Be the director and the actor with a really small crew.”
‘Goodrich’
Pittsburgh native Michael Keaton is on an odd streak of movies that barely open in theaters and then go straight to Max. Last year there was “Knox Goes Away,” which he also directed, and this week there’s “Goodrich” (8 p.m. Feb. 1, Max), which stars Keaton as Andy Goodrich, who becomes a single dad to his 9-year-old twins when his wife enters a 90-day rehab program.
Written and directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer, daughter of rom-com film vets Nancy Meyers and Charles Shyer (“Father of the Bride”), “Goodrich” follows Keaton’s character as he reconnects with his daughter (Mila Kunis) from his first marriage and learns to be a better dad to all his kids.
Too long (almost two hours) and too obvious (Goodrich is a good but oblivious guy who has to learn to spend less time at work and more time with his family), it’s understandable why viewers have never heard of “Goodrich.” Skip it and stream “Knox,” still on Max, instead.
WTAE hires reporter
WTAE-TV hired Pittsburgh native Jordan Cioppa as a general assignment reporter who will work nightside weekdays beginning Feb. 3.
While a student at Penn State, Cioppa interned at KDKA-TV.
Kept/canceled/revived
A&E ordered two seasons of a reboot of its one-time hit “Duck Dynasty” that will air this summer.
Fox renewed game show “The 1% Club” for a second season but will replace host Patton Oswalt with Joel McHale.
Ahead of its third season premiere on Feb. 16, HBO renewed “The White Lotus” for a fourth season.
PBS’s “Masterpiece” ordered “Marble Head Murders,” the third and final installment in the Susan Ryeland (Lesley Manville) series whose previous installments were “Magpie Murders” and “Moonflower Murders.”
HBO’s “The Righteous Gemstones” will end with its fourth season, debuting on a yet-to-be-announced date in March.
Premiere dates
ABC’s “The Conners” kicks off its final season at 8 p.m. March 26.
The 10-episode final season of “Bosch: Legacy” debuts March 27 on Amazon’s Prime Video.

Use the App to customize your own tuning by editing and saving your sound profile, or choosing from preset EQs.
How do I activate the head-tracking spatial audio?

I believe it was Voltaire who said, “I ask God for but one wish, and it is that my enemies be absurd.” Personally, I also ask for a head coach who’s competent, experienced, universally respected and a proven winner. And I have that. So I’ll turn my attention to the first wish, and be grateful that so many of our enemies are wallowing in absurdity of their own making.
In Dallas:
Tampa:
New York, where they got the man they wanted but have no idea what the quarterback situation will be:
Las Vegas, where they just pulled a 74-year-old out of retirement:
So with that, it’s important that the good people of New England pause, take a good look around at the chaos other fanbases are being subjected to, and thank the Almighty that this year, we’ve been spared. That our beneficent Creator has given us a bountiful harvest of coaches. Beginning with Mike Vrabel of course. But continuing with the staff of special people he has been assembling like a two-eyed Nick Fury. Several of whom have head coaching experience in the league:
Josh McDaniels, Offensive Coordinator.I’ve already written extensively about this hire. And for good reason. You couldn’t genetically engineer a more perfect candidate to mentor, develop and scheme for Drake Maye. A man who has gotten the best years out of a vast array of quarterbacks, from Alpha Tom Brady to Omega Mac Jones, with Betas like Jimmy Garropolo and Jacoby Brissett in between. Who has designed offenses around QBs with skillsets as diverse as Cam Newton’s and Derek Carr’s. Who in his last season in Foxboro had an offense run by a rookie Mac Jones sixth in the league in points. By way of perspective, since he left they’ve finished 17th, 31st and 30th. And to repeat the obvious, no matter how successful he is with Maye, no one’s going to hire him away as their head coach. That ship has sailed and is not returning to port.
Terrell Williams, Defensive Coordinator. More of an unknown factor since this is his first time in the position, Williams has the all the benefit of any doubts due to the fact he was on Vrabel’s staff in Tennessee, was named his Assistant Head Coach, and was handed the playsheet and headset as Head Coach for a preseason game. He’s got the respect of everyone he worked with in Detroit. And seems to have exactly the philosophy this defense needs after dropping from eighth best in the league in 2023 to 22nd last year. A year in which the previous head coach called his team “soft.”
John Streicher, Ernie Adams’ Job, whatever you call it. The only reason I’m disappointed Streicher already comes with a ready made nickname, for obvious reasons:
… is that it’s going to make it harder to awkwardly shoehorn in references to Ted Striker from Airplane! into every Knee Jerk Reactions column. Oh well. Them’s the breaks of the blogging game. But again, here’s another hire Vrabel has vast experience working with. As has one of the best head coaches in football, who didn’t give up his services willingly:
When you can poach your assistants from a playoff team with a Super Bowl champion coach and get him to come to a 4-13 team in a rebuild, that has to be because you’ve got a special relationship with the man. This is again a reminder of the dangers of promoting someone to Head Coach who hasn’t been around the league, and doesn’t have a ton of names in his phone’s Contacts list.
Doug Marrone, Offensive Line (probably). More than any other position on the coaching staff, this one has been the hardest to fill. Dante Scarnecchia has proven to be to the Patriots what David Lee Roth was to Van Halen. They’ve carried on without him, but it’s never been the same. Marrone has, of course, been a Head Coach for almost 100 NFL games with two teams. He’s been the OC for the No. 1 offense in the league twice. And more germane to this discussion, he’s twice had the No. 1 rushing attack, once with Buffalo and again in Jacksonville. At 60 years old and with over 30 years of coaching on his resume, he understands exactly what it takes to put together a top O-line:
Just as importantly, he’s a man who can appreciate fatty, processed, sodium-enriched deli meats:
I can promise you all the days of two, three, and sometimes even four False Start penalties a game are over in Foxboro.
Ashton Grant, Quarterbacks. The hiring of Grant represents another benefit of Vrabel spending last season underemployed, kicking around Cleveland looking to help out in any way possible. So unlike Jerod Mayo having to hired Alex Van Pelt after interviewing a dozen candidates and TC McCartney as QB Coach because Van Pelt recommended him, Vrabel knows this guy because he worked alongside him for a season.
Grant wore different hats in Cleveland, with vaguely defined titles like “Assistant” and “Quality Control” before taking over as QB Coach in a season where the Browns had four different starters, none of them especially good. Unless you count that game at Denver in which Jameis Winston threw for six touchdowns, which I don’t because two of them were scored by Broncos. But still, that’s a decent amount of experience for a young guy working his way up the coaching ladder. And Vrabel trusts him to work well under McDaniels, which should work for all of us.
Thomas Brown, Tight Ends/Passing Game Coordinator. Brown went 1-4 after being given a battlefield promotion in Chicago:
He’s been the Passing Game Coordinator on the 2024 Bears and OC on the 2023 Panthers, two teams which share the distinction of being 32nd in the league in yards. Which is not ideal. But as Tight Ends Coach, he got career highs out of Cole Kmet in passer rating when targeted with 119.2, success rate with 70.9%, and catch rate, with 85.5%. The Bears offense had a million problems, but Brown’s tight end group wasn’t among them. And Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper should benefit.
Jeremy Springer, Special Teams. Oftentimes, the best change is the one you don’t make. Under Springer’s guidance, the Pats special teams went from 20th in the league in Pro Football Focus grade in 2023 to No. 2. He turned Brendan Schooler into a Pro Bowler. And, if nothing else, he gave a masterclass in how to respond when a fanbase’s frustration boils over and they let you know they’re tired of watching one of the worst teams in the league:
I would’ve hated it if Vrabel made a change just for the sake of change. If it ain’t broke, and all that.
All in all, this is a hell of a way to put a staff together. One of the many benefits of Mr. Kraft not dicking around and making the swift yet painful decision to cut ties with Mayo the minute the season ended. Unlike what’s been playing out around the league, we’re already benefiting from it. Prayers are being answered.

As NFL coaching changes continue to dominate headlines with teams in disarray, one organization stands out among the chaos – the New England Patriots.
While other teams are still scrambling to find their next head coach or fill out their coaching staff, the Patriots have been quietly and efficiently making moves to solidify their coaching roster. From promoting from within to bringing in new faces with impressive resumes, the Patriots have been crushing it in the coaching department.
One notable move was promoting defensive coordinator Matt Patricia to head coach after the departure of Bill Belichick. Patricia, a longtime assistant under Belichick, has proven himself as a capable leader and defensive mastermind. The Patriots also added former players turned coaches like Jerod Mayo and Troy Brown to their staff, bringing in fresh perspectives and a deep understanding of the Patriots’ winning culture.
While other teams may be in disarray with hasty coaching hires and internal power struggles, the Patriots have remained steady and focused on building a strong coaching staff. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence have set them apart in a league where coaching stability is often hard to come by.
So while chaos may reign in other NFL coaching circles, let’s take a moment to appreciate the Patriots and their ability to keep crushing it in the coaching department. With a solid coaching staff in place, the Patriots are poised to continue their winning ways and remain a force to be reckoned with in the NFL.

The Chicago Bears recently got their new head coach in Ben Johnson. Now they have two right-hand men for Johnson, on Sunday hiring former New Orleans Saints coach Dennis Allen as the team’s new defensive coordinator, as NFL Media reported, and 28-year-old Declan Doyle as the new offensive coordinator.
Allen, who was dismissed as the Saints’ coach in November, is still regarded as one of the NFL’s top defensive minds. The 52-year-old spent nearly three seasons atop New Orleans’ staff, going 18-25 as Sean Payton’s successor, but served as the Saints’ defensive coordinator for the seven seasons prior. He also worked as the Denver Broncos‘ defensive coordinator back in 2011, prior to a three-year stretch as the Las Vegas Raiders head coach.

Doyle, meanwhile, becomes the youngest current coordinator in the NFL. He’s coming off two seasons as Payton’s tight ends coach with the Broncos, and previously worked alongside Allen as an offensive assistant for the Saints from 2019-2022. Prior to his first NFL job in New Orleans, Doyle spent three seasons as an offensive student assistant for the University of Iowa.
Johnson confirmed at his introductory news conference with the Bears that he will serve as the team’s offensive play-caller, continuing a role he held as Detroit Lions offensive coordinator.
In a surprising move, newly appointed Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson has reportedly tapped the NFL’s youngest coordinator to join his coaching staff. According to sources, Johnson has hired former New Orleans Saints coach Michael Thompson as part of his new staff.
Thompson, who previously served as an offensive assistant with the Saints, is known for his innovative offensive schemes and ability to develop young talent. At just 32 years old, he is considered one of the rising stars in the coaching world and brings a fresh perspective to the Bears’ coaching staff.
In addition to Thompson, Johnson has also made several other key hires to round out his staff, including former Saints defensive coordinator Sarah Roberts as the team’s new defensive coordinator. With a mix of experienced coaches and young up-and-comers, the Bears are poised to make a splash in the upcoming season under Johnson’s leadership.
Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how Johnson’s new staff will fare in their first season together, as they look to turn around a struggling Bears team and bring them back to playoff contention. Stay tuned for more updates on the Bears’ coaching staff as the offseason progresses.
