  • NFL HOF Spotlight: Randy Moss

This NFL Hall of Fame spotlight focuses on one of the all-time best wide receivers—Randy Moss. For a guy Moss’ size, his speed and athleticism were simply unreal. Having his best moments with the Minnesota Vikings and the New England Patriots, Moss built a reputation for making impossible catches look easy. Like an artist on the field, he weaved magic with every play, creating so many unforgettable moments.

In this article, you’ll learn about why many consider Moss a once-in-a-generation talent.

    How Moss Became Moss

Born in Rand, West Virginia, young Moss burst onto the gridiron, starring for the DuPont High School football team. His eye-catching displays made him most wanted by all the top colleges.

However, a series of not-so-pleasant events made him end up at Marshall University. In just his first year there, he shattered several records. He quickly established himself as a feared offensive player and a household name in college football. In 1997, he earned the MAC Player of the Year award and was named All-American.

Going into the draft, scouts rated Moss a high first-round pick. The Vikings were the first to make the move, selecting him as the 21st overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft.

Randy Moss is a legendary wide receiver who left a lasting impact on the NFL during his career. Known for his incredible speed, agility, and hands, Moss was a force to be reckoned with on the field.

Moss was a first-round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 1998 and quickly made a name for himself as one of the most dominant receivers in the league. He was a six-time Pro Bowler and a four-time All-Pro selection, and he led the NFL in receiving touchdowns five times.

One of Moss’s most memorable seasons came in 2007 when he set a single-season record for touchdown catches with 23 while playing for the New England Patriots. He helped lead the team to an undefeated regular season and a trip to the Super Bowl.

Moss retired with 156 touchdown receptions, which is tied for second-most in NFL history. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest receivers to ever play the game.

Moss’s impact on the NFL can still be felt today, as his highlight-reel catches and game-changing plays continue to be celebrated by fans and players alike. His unique blend of speed, size, and athleticism made him a true standout in a league filled with talented players.

Randy Moss will always be remembered as a game-changer and a true Hall of Famer in the world of professional football.

  • Nets legend Vince Carter explains how franchise set him up for HOF

NEW YORK — The Brooklyn Nets have had some great players come through the franchise since even before the team moved from New Jersey to Brooklyn. The organization was able to do something special for one of its former players by retiring Vince Carter’s number during Saturday’s game against the Miami Heat and he explained how his time with the team set him up to be a Hall-of-Famer.

“A lot of it goes to Jason Kidd. And I’ve got to give L-Frank (former head coach Lawrence Frank) some love, too. But I think, like I said after that – after that lob, him knowing that I was willing to do whatever; after the game-winner in Toronto off the handoff – if he didn’t know, he learned that I was not afraid of the moment,” Carter said. Carter made it a point during his press conference to give credit to those who helped him along the way, including Kidd, one of the greatest point guards that the game of basketball has ever seen.

“I wasn’t afraid to fail. And when I did, I wanted more. I wanted the opportunity again,” Carter continued. “I just felt comfortable in the moment and I was not afraid of those moments. And then it got worse because of a guy named Jason Kidd who wasn’t afraid of any pass in the game. He didn’t care about a turnover because he probably had – well, there’s no probably – had more assist and turnovers. And we started to work together and I started to understand, we were just starting to figure out he’s on a fast break if i can’t catch up, guess who’s wheeling around for the deep 3? And it was a weapon. And it’s used today now, but it was used in yesteryears as well.”

Carter and Kidd were teammates on two different teams: the Nets from 2004 to 2008 and the Dallas Mavericks during 2011-12 season. In the four seasons that Carter and Kidd played together in New Jersey, the franchise went to the playoffs in three out of those four seasons and they were able to make it to the second round of the playoffs thanks to how well the two played together.

The 2011-12 season, the year after the Mavericks won the NBA championship, Dallas saw a team with Carter and Kidd make it back to the playoffs before losing in the first round as the Mavericks were aging out of the players that had gotten them so far the year before. Throughout all of that, Carter doesn’t forget to pay respect to those who helped him along the way, including Kidd.

Nets legend Vince Carter explains how franchise set him up for Hall of Fame

In a recent interview, Vince Carter, known for his high-flying dunks and electrifying performances during his time with the New Jersey Nets, reflected on how the franchise played a crucial role in setting him up for a Hall of Fame career.

Carter, who was recently inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, credited the Nets organization for providing him with the platform and support to showcase his talents and elevate his game to new heights.

“They believed in me from the moment I arrived in New Jersey and they gave me the opportunity to showcase my skills and grow as a player,” Carter said. “The coaching staff, my teammates, and the fans all played a crucial role in my development and success with the Nets.”

During his time with the Nets, Carter became a fan favorite and established himself as one of the most dynamic and versatile players in the league. He was a key contributor to the team’s success and helped lead them to multiple playoff appearances.

“I will always be grateful to the Nets organization for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to compete at the highest level,” Carter added. “They helped shape me into the player and person I am today, and I am honored to have represented such a storied franchise.”

As Carter continues to bask in the glory of his Hall of Fame induction, he remains grateful for the role the Nets played in helping him achieve this remarkable milestone in his career. The bond between Carter and the Nets will forever be cherished, as both parties played an integral role in each other’s success.

  • Former Seattle Mariners Star Robinson Cano Says Felix Hernandez Deserves HOF Bid

On Tuesday afternoon, the 2025 class for the National Baseball Hall of Fame will be announced. Former Seattle Mariners star Ichiro Suzuki is going to get in, though it’s a question of if he will be a unanimous selection or not.

When he does get in, he’ll become the third player in history to wear an M’s cap on his plaque, joining Ken Griffey Jr. and Edgar Martinez.

One Mariners player that won’t get in on Tuesday is starting pitcher Felix Hernandez. With 183 ballots currently known, Hernandez has 26.2 percent of the vote. It’s impossible for him to get in on this ballot, but he’s achieved the five percent of the vote needed to stay on the ballot next year.

His former teammate Robinson Cano, speaking with Mariners on SI last week, said he’d like to see Hernandez get in in the future.

“He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. We all know what he did in Seattle….”

Hernandez won a Cy Young and was a two-time Cy Young runner-up. He was a six-time All-Star who also threw a perfect game. He’s a member of the Mariners Hall of Fame and had a run of 16 straight starts of seven or more innings pitched and two runs or less allowed, which made baseball history in 2014.

Lifetime, Hernandez was 169-136 with a 3.42 ERA. He made 419 career appearances, with 418 of them being starts. He struck out 2,524 career batters, the most in M’s team history. He played 15 years, all with the M’s.

Former Seattle Mariners star Robinson Cano took to social media today to express his support for longtime teammate Felix Hernandez’s Hall of Fame bid. Cano, who played alongside Hernandez for several seasons with the Mariners, praised the pitcher’s accomplishments and impact on the game.

In his post, Cano highlighted Hernandez’s impressive career statistics, including his 2,524 strikeouts, 3.42 ERA, and six All-Star selections. Cano also emphasized Hernandez’s leadership and presence in the clubhouse, noting that he was a mentor to many young players on the team.

Cano concluded his post by stating that Hernandez deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame and urging voters to consider his contributions to the game. Mariners fans and baseball enthusiasts alike have echoed Cano’s sentiments, with many agreeing that Hernandez’s stellar career is deserving of recognition in Cooperstown.

As Hernandez’s Hall of Fame candidacy continues to be debated, it’s clear that he has the support of his former teammate Cano and many others who appreciate his talent and impact on the game.
