Lockheed Martin reported a 850 bps fall in operating margin to 2.3% in Q4, due to a $1.7 billion loss related to classified programs. This resulted in the bottom line of $2.22, reflecting a 71% y-o-y decline. However, on an adjusted basis, the earnings stood at $7.67. We’re one week from the 2025 NBA trade deadline, and while there haven’t been any major moves leading up to Feb. 6, there have been developments across both conferences.
With All-Star guards potentially on the move, teams will be keeping a close eye on the standings as they push through the regular season. Are there any league-shifting trades in the works? How will that affect a team’s strategy moving forward? Also, how will it affect our power rankings?

The Thunder are 23-2 when Hartenstein plays. Memphis won six in a row before a rough road setback Monday against the Knicks. Jaren Jackson Jr. has developed into a go-to scorer as the Grizzlies continue to tinker with a new wide-open offense that could prove problematic for teams in the postseason. First, Memphis needs to solve its issues dealing with physical teams and the Grizzlies will get another test in that respect Thursday against a Rockets squad that has beaten them three times this season. — Michael Wright

Coming off its 16th clutch win of the season Monday at Boston, Houston bested Atlanta on the road Tuesday on the second night of a back to back. The Rockets are tied with the Suns for clutch victories this season, and they’ve won 10 of their past 12 outings and 10 of their past 11 on the road. Second-year forward Amen Thompson is surging, scoring 20-plus points in three of his past six games as Houston collected three wins in the last week over the East-leading Cavaliers and Celtics before Wednesday’s win at Atlanta. — Wright

The Knicks had gone 45 years without a 143-point showing in a regulation contest before doing it in back-to-back games Saturday and Monday. The NBA’s second-most efficient offense notched consecutive wins over the Kings and Grizzlies by that tally — the Knicks’ 60th straight win when holding at least a 15-point lead, the longest active streak in the NBA. The Knicks will continue to be tested, though: They have the East’s hardest remaining slate as they head into February and are only one game behind the second-place Celtics. — Chris Herring

After having 40 points and nine assists in a win over Milwaukee last Saturday, Harden became the seventh player with at least three 40-point games in a season at age 35 or older in NBA history. Over the Lakers’ four-game win streak coming into Tuesday, Anthony Davis averaged 32.8 points on 58.2% shooting, 15 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. The dominant stretch happened to coincide with Davis telling ESPN’s Sham Charania that, “I think we need another big,” before the trade deadline passes. That momentum came crashing down for both Davis and L.A. in Philly on Tuesday night, with Davis exiting early because of an abdominal strain and the Lakers getting blown out. — McMenamin

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday the Kings are expected to open up talks to trade De’Aaron Fox before next Thursday’s deadline, which would take Sacramento in a different direction. Currently built to win now with veteran starters DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis, the Kings will have a difficult time replacing Fox who is averaging 25.2 points and 6.2 assists. Sacramento’s decision has a ripple effect on the Hawks, who get the Kings’ first-round pick from the Kevin Huerter trade if it lands outside the top 12 picks. — Kevin Pelton

NEW ORLEANS – After months of hearing about “next man up,” the Mavericks are now living proof that the concept works.
Especially for Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington, who were already strong players but have leveled up with so many injuries opening up opportunities for them.
Both players came through with big games and clutch fourth quarters as the Mavericks were able to grind out a 137-136 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans Wednesday night at Smoothie King Center, starting the longest trip of the season with a well-rounded performance.
A city bracing for the hysteria that comes with next week’s Super Bowl extravaganza hasn’t exactly fallen in love with these Pelicans. The crowd was small and cozy. But it didn’t show with the teams, who put on an entertaining show.
The Mavericks avenged the 119-116 loss the Pelicans handed them two weeks ago. They are now 2-1 this season against New Orleans with a final meeting on Feb. 21, the first game after the All-Star break.
The Mavericks were down 101-100 early in the fourth quarter, but then started scoring in threes. Klay Thompson and P.J. Washington both dropped in two three-pointers and Daniel Gafford had a pair of old-fashioned three-point plays as the Mavericks went on a 20-10 tear to open up a 120-111 advantage.
When the Pelicans got within 122-118, Washington drilled another triple with 2:48 to go to send the Mavericks on their way. At least until Dejounte Murray’s three-pointer with 15 seconds got the Mavericks’ attention and the Pelicans within 136-133. But Spencer Dinwiddie canned the second of two free throws with 11.4 to go to make it a two-score game. A three-pointer by C.J. McCollum with 0.2 seconds left did not matter as the Mavericks improved to 26-22. The Pelicans did not play like a team that fell to 12-36.
Washington, who has been a rebounding demon for the last two weeks, had 25 points and 14 rebounds. He didn’t miss a triple-double by much as he also had eight assists.
Gafford had 22 points and 12 rebounds as he continued to pick up the slack left by Dereck Lively II’s ankle injury.
Kyrie Irving wasn’t bad either with 25 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
The Mavericks couldn’t shake the Pelicans through the first half when neither team led by more than seven points and the Mavericks actually trailed at the break 63-57 when they gave up the final six points, including a couple of dunks by Trey Murphy that brought a little life to a crowd that could only be described as tiny at cavernous Smoothie King Center.
Good sections were available in the upper deck.
With the Super Bowl coming on Feb. 9 to the Superdome next door, many streets are closed off around the Pelicans’ arena, making it a challenge for fans logistically.
The ones that stayed away missed an entertaining night that featured strong play from Zion Williamson and a big night from P.J. Washington, who was a point and a rebound away from a double-double in the first half, which he collected quickly when the third quarter started.
The Mavericks knew they had let the first half get away from them and came out in the third quarter with a better aggression. But that push came to a halt midway into the period when the Mavericks couldn’t score. The Pelicans pulled ahead 86-79 with a 13-3 surge.
And they still were up 101-100 with 10:28 to go after a Jose Alvarado three-pointer that juiced up the crowd.
But the Mavericks were loading up a big finish.

Utah Hockey Club will not be moving forward with “Yeti” or “Yetis” as its team nickname and will hold an in-arena fan vote to pick a new one.
The team expects to announce a permanent name and identity before the 2025-26 NHL season. The new fan vote comes after the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rejected names and logos that Utah Hockey Club had submitted for approval, in particular “Utah Yetis,” which was widely assumed to be the franchise’s eventual nickname.
Fans attending Utah’s next four home games will have the opportunity to vote for three options using tablets stationed around Delta Center. The team estimates that could be upward of 15,000 fans per game.
The name options are:
• Utah Hockey Club. The team’s current name was meant as a placeholder for its inaugural season in Salt Lake City, after Smith Entertainment Group purchased the Arizona Coyotes franchise. “It has always been our intention to let our season one identity as Utah Hockey Club, the team’s performance and the amazing response from our fans hold the conversation through our inaugural season,” said Chris Armstrong, the team’s president of hockey operations.
• Utah Mammoth. This nickname was one of six finalists from a fan vote held last year, along with Utah Blizzard, Utah Hockey Club, Utah Outlaws, Utah Venom and Utah Yeti. Team owner Ryan Smith later revealed on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” that Mammoth had made the final four options.
• Utah Wasatch. This is an entirely new option for Utah’s team name, as it wasn’t included in the initial 20 names presented to fans in a survey. It references Utah’s Wasatch mountain range, known for its many ski resorts. But the team acknowledges that it’s basically a replacement for Utah Yeti. The name will allow the team to use a “mythical snow creature in the form of a Yeti” as its mascot, according to Mike Maughan of Smith Entertainment Group.
The fans will vote on these three names and two logos: One for the Utah Mammoth and one that would be used for either the Utah Hockey Club or the Utah Wasatch that features the Yeti-like creature, which Maughan said is known as the “mountain defender” logo internally.
This might not be the last fan vote, according to Maughan, who said there could be another round after this one. But he reiterated that whatever the fans decide in these votes will be the name of the Utah team beginning next season.
Maughan said the team submitted all 20 names on its initial survey to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. But the biggest refusal was for “Yeti” or “Yetis.” It was widely expected, even among Utah players, that “Yeti” or “Yetis” would eventually win out as the team name.
The USPTO rejected a trademark application from the team for “Utah Yetis” because of the “likelihood of confusion” for consumers to other companies and brands that use the name. Utah Hockey Club was seeking to use “Utah Yetis” on a variety of clothing items. The USPTO said a database search turned up “a number of third-party marks registered for use in connection with the same or similar goods and/or services as those of both applicant and registrant in this case.”
Among those parties was Yeti Coolers LLC, which makes drinkware, coolers and clothing.
“We engaged deeply with Yeti Cooler Company and worked with them over a process to see if there was some coexistence agreement that we could engage with them on,” said Maughan. “They have a unique and strong trademark on anything published Yeti or Yetis. We did not have a coexistence agreement with Yeti and therefore have decided to move on from that name.”
Maughan said the team anticipated trademark hurdles for “Yeti” and other names — including Utah Hockey Club, which also was rejected but faces less of a barrier to future approval — and thus anticipated the need to pivot. He said the team is confident the three names in the fan vote should clear the USPTO process.
“We have an incredible team, and we are very confident we have a clear path to each of those names,” he said. “We have strategies to approach each of them and feel that we’re on very solid ground as we continue forward.”
Fan voting on the new name will begin during Tuesday night’s game against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.
