Kate Middleton Re-Wore a $20 Zara Dress During Hospice Visit

Kate Middleton is on a roll. After making her first appearance of the year at the Royal Marsden Hospital where she received chemotherapy, the Princess of Wales is keeping up her appearances at medical facilities with her latest engagement at Tŷ Hafan, a children’s hospice in Wales, on January 30.

For the occasion, Middleton wore a prairie dress in a black and white houndstooth plaid. The dress featured a tea length skirt, slightly puffed sleeved that gathered at the shoulders and around her wrists, and a pussy-bow detail at her neck.

This marks the fourth time that Middleton has worn the dress—she first debuted it during a visit to Bradford in 2020, and later wore the dress during visits to UCL and the Aberfan Memorial Garden in 2021 and 2023, respectively.

The visit itself also had a sweet connection to Diana, as “the project to build the hospice was one of the last patronages of the late Princess Diana, and it was completed a few years after her 1997 death,” People reports.

Middleton had followed in Diana’s footsteps and is now a patron of the hospice. Irfon Rees, chief executive officer of Tŷ Hafan, said in a statement that they are “deeply honored” to have Kate as a patron. “As our Patron, Her Royal Highness will be an inspiration for children with life-shortening conditions and their families, our dedicated staff and volunteers and everyone who so generously supports us,” the statement read.

Rees continued, “No parent ever imagines that their child’s life will be short. Sadly this is the reality facing thousands of families in Wales. We can’t stop this happening, but together we can make sure that no one lives their child’s short life alone.”

Catherine, Princess of Wales visits children’s hospice as she becomes latest royal patron

Catherine, Princess of Wales continued her phased return to public duties on Thursday, visiting a children’s hospice in Wales, as it was announced that she’d become a patron of the organization.

Tŷ Hafan was the first children’s hospice in Wales when it opened in 1999. Based in the village of Sully, near Cardiff, the charity provides care and support to children with life-shortening conditions, as well as their families.

During her visit, the princess spent time with children receiving care at the hospice and joined a “stay and play” session with them, according to Kensington Palace.

She also met with bereaved families supported by the hospice. The charity provides holistic support, focusing on the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the children and their families, Kensington Palace said.

Irfon Rees, chief executive of Tŷ Hafan, said it was an “absolute pleasure” to welcome the princess to the hospice.

“As our Patron, Her Royal Highness will be an inspiration for children with life-shortening conditions and their families, our dedicated staff and volunteers and everyone who so generously supports us,” Rees added in a statement.

Catherine is not the only royal patron of the hospice. King Charles III became patron in 2001, when he was Prince of Wales, and Diana, Princess of Wales was a patron while the charity was in its fundraising stage.

Thursday’s visit follows Catherine’s first solo engagement of the year and marks part of her phased return to public duties.

Catherine, who is also known as Kate, stepped back from her public duties last year to undergo treatment for an unspecified cancer.

In September, she announced that she had completed her chemotherapy and said she was “doing what I can to stay cancer free.”

On Monday evening, Kate joined her husband, Prince William, for a surprise appearance at official commemorations in the UK to mark Holocaust Memorial Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Kate held hands and affectionately hugged Holocaust survivors at the event in central London.

Meanwhile, Kate earlier this month visited The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in Chelsea, west London, where she met with medical teams and spoke to patients receiving treatment, according to Kensington Palace.

Following her visit that day, Kate revealed on social media that she was in remission from cancer.

“As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal,” the 43-year-old said in a post on X. “I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”

Wrexham AFC players pay a visit to Nightingale House Hospice

The players – Tom O’Connor and Eoghan O’Connell from the men’s first team and Erin Lovett, Phoebe Davies and Rosie Hughes from Wrexham AFC Women – visited patients at the hospice’s Wellbeing Centre as well as those on the Inpatient Unit – and signed autographs, chatted and posed for pictures in an afternoon that was hailed delightful by hospice staff.

The players also met youngster Bethan Williams and presented her with a gift of match tickets for her whole family.

Bethan, a huge Wrexham fan, is currently accessing bereavement support from Nightingale House following the loss of her grandad, who was also a huge Wrexham AFC fan.

Bethan met the players alongside her mum, Katherine Williams. Katherine said that she and Bethan really enjoyed the afternoon and thanked the team for the family’s ticket to the Boxing Day match against Blackpool where they won 2-1.

Katherine said it had been a boost for Bethan after a difficult time for their family. She said: “I lost my dad, Bethan’s grandad, to an awful illness on the 25th August this year.

“Bethan took his death really badly so made contact with Nightingale House for some support.

“From her first session the support she received was amazing and have definitely helped her cope and with this she has now decided she wants to become a social worker to support and help others. She wants to give something back to the hospice and is planning on helping her netball coach organise a netball tournament in aid of Nightingale House in May.

“I can’t thank Jackie Crouch from the Family Support Team enough for all her support for Bethan.”

Players and staff from Wrexham AFC and Wrexham AFC Women paid a visit to Hope House Children’s Hospice in the run-up to Christmas – donating scarves to both the young residents and carers.

Max Cleworth, Louisha Doran and Steve Dale all visited Hope House in Oswestry.

The visit included meeting a young resident, Esmay, as her inspiring story brought both smiles to both players and staff alike as she continues to defy the odds each day.

We were also proud to donate tickets for today’s Boxing Day fixture against Blackpool to Esmay, her family and the carers at Hope House Children’s Hospice.

Speaking about the visit to Hope House, Cleworth said: “We came to visit a young girl called Esmay who certainly put a smile on my face.

“She’s a young girl who uses the facilities at Hope House and she showed us around, introducing us to the other children that come here.

“It was a real eye opener to the work that goes on and how much value the place and the staff have for the children and families who come here. The people here are brilliant, and it’s been great to experience that.”

Head of the Wrexham AFC Foundation Jamie Edwards added: “We want to show how football can bring people together.

“Charities such as Hope House are brilliant 365 days of the year so as a Football Club, we want to make sure we support them throughout the year and not just the Christmas period.

“Esmay is an absolute warrior of a little girl and an inspiration. It was great to bring Max, Louisha and Steve to meet her. I think the family got a lot out of it and we look forward to welcoming them to the STōK Cae Ras for our Boxing Day fixture against Blackpool.”

Prior to Christmas, a number of Wrexham AFC and Wrexham AFC Women’s players visited Nightingale House Hospice, to spread some festive cheer over the holiday season.

The hospice provides specialist palliative care services for those with life-limiting illnesses, and plays a key role within the local and wider community.

Nightingale House Hospice also manages a range of other services, including child bereavement support.

Eoghan O’Connell, Tom O’Connor, Phoebe Davies, Erin Lovett and Rosie Hughes all went down to visit when they handed out scarves to residents and staff alike.

The players also met youngster Bethan and presented her with a gift of match tickets for her whole family. Bethan, a huge Wrexham fan, is currently accessing bereavement support from Nightingale House following the loss of her grandad, who was also a huge Wrexham AFC fan.
