  • Duke v UNC basketball | Duke Blue Devils will host North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday in Durham

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) — This weekend, one of the biggest rivalries in college basketball resumes.

No. 2 Duke, fresh off a tense win against NC State, will host another Tobacco Road rival on Saturday when North Carolina makes the short trip to Durham.

    Tip-off: 6:30 p.m.
    Where to watch: ESPN

In some ways, this matchup doesn’t quite have the luster of many years. But as is often the case in this most heated of rivalries, you can sometimes throw the records out the window.

    Bottom Line

No. 2 Duke hosts North Carolina after Cooper Flagg scored 28 points in Duke’s 74-64 win over the NC State Wolfpack.

The Blue Devils are 12-0 on their home court. Duke averages 80.0 points while outscoring opponents by 20.4 points per game.

The Tar Heels are 6-4 in conference games. North Carolina scores 81.7 points while outscoring opponents by 5.5 points per game.

Duke averages 80.0 points per game, 3.8 more points than the 76.2 North Carolina allows. North Carolina averages 7.3 made 3-pointers per game this season, 0.5 more makes than Duke gives up.

There were 130 tents housing more than 1,500 students set up at Duke as Cameron Crazies ramp it up for Saturday’s game against the Tar Heels.

The Blue Devils and Tar Heels meet Saturday for the first time in ACC play this season.

    Top Performers

Flagg is averaging 19.9 points, eight rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals for the Blue Devils. Kon Knueppel is averaging 14 points over the past 10 games.

RJ Davis is shooting 39.7% and averaging 17.6 points for the Tar Heels. Ian Jackson is averaging 2.0 made 3-pointers over the last 10 games.

    Last 10 Games

Blue Devils: 10-0, averaging 80.3 points, 36.2 rebounds, 17.3 assists, 4.7 steals and 3.7 blocks per game while shooting 48.7% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 59.2 points per game.

Tar Heels: 6-4, averaging 76.9 points, 33.0 rebounds, 15.1 assists, 4.9 steals and 3.9 blocks per game while shooting 47.1% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 72.6 points.

    Previous Matchup

The last time these teams met was in March last year in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Tar Heels secured the win 84-79 helping the program finish atop the ACC regular-season standings.

Cormac Ryan led North Carolina with 31 points, a career-high. He also closed out the game with two clinching free throws with 4.7 seconds left.

“We knew what it meant. We knew what was at stake,” Ryan said. “And to walk out of this building is always nice.”

Kyle Filipowski scored 23 points to lead the Blue Devils.

“We didn’t play our best basketball overall,” Filipowski said. “We’re still one of the best teams in the country. Our season’s not defined by UNC.”

    Krzyzewskiville

ABC11 stopped by Krzyzewskiville on Tuesday night, where hundreds of students were out camping ahead of the big game. In total, there are roughly 130 tents in K-Ville this year, housing about 1,500 students.

“One hundred percent worth it. I would do it again and again. If I could do this for the rest of my life, I’d be here every year doing this,” said Erika Pietrzak, a Duke senior camping for the fourth time.

The decked-out tents have become a fixture on Duke’s campus this time of year since the tradition started in the 1980s.

“It’s been a great experience. I get to hang out with my buddies in the tent. You know, sometimes it gets cold, but it’s a really fun time,” said Kiran Pathy, a sophomore camping for the first time.

While some students brave the elements for their tickets, others like Head Line Monitor Oliver Hess oversee the craziness in Krzyzewskiville.

“It’s a whole meritocracy-based system. We want the craziest of the Cameron crazies to be in the front row, to be the loudest, to show their enthusiasm the most,” Hess said.

That includes surprise checks at all hours of the night – and during the day – to make sure each tent has residents present.

ABC11’s Sean Coffey, Kate Rogerson, Tom George, and ESPN contributed to this report.

Welcome to the NHL On Tap, a daily look at the games on the NHL schedule. There are four games on the schedule for Friday, including one nationally televised in the United States and one in Canada.

    Games of the day

Vancouver Canucks at Dallas Stars (8 p.m. ET; Victory+, SN)

Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes and Stars forward Roope Hintz go head-to-head for the first time this season before facing off at the 4 Nations Face-Off from Feb. 12-20 in Montreal and Boston. Hughes, who leads the Canucks with 58 points (14 goals, 44 assists), will represent the United States. Hintz, who leads the Stars with 20 goals, will play for Finland. The Stars (32-17-1) have won three straight and four of five but will be without defenseman Miro Heiskanen, who is week to week and will miss the 4 Nations Face-Off for Finland after sustaining a knee injury on Tuesday. The Canucks (23-17-10), who play the final game of a three-game road trip, have won three straight.

Columbus Blue Jackets at Utah Hockey Club (9 p.m. ET; FDSNOH, Utah 16)

The Blue Jackets (25-19-7) look to continue their hot streak when they visit Utah at Delta Center. Columbus, which won 2-1 in overtime against the Golden Knights on Thursday, has won two straight and is 9-2-1 in its past 12 games. Blue Jackets forward Adam Fantilli has six points (four goals, two assists) in his past four games. His 15 goals and 29 points in 51 games this season already surpass his rookie season totals of 12 goals and 27 points in 49 games last season. Nashville Predators at Buffalo Sabres (7 p.m. ET; FDSNSO, NHLN, MSG-B, TVAS)

Buffalo (19-26-5) will look to build upon an impressive 7-2 win against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday when it hosts the Predators at KeyBank Center in the second of a four-game homestand. Forward Filip Forsberg, who will represent Sweden in the 4 Nations Face-Off, has 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) in his past 11 games for the Predators.

The Dallas Stars are set to host the Vancouver Canucks in their first game without star defenseman Miro Heiskanen, who will be sidelined due to injury. This matchup will be a test for the Stars as they look to fill the void left by Heiskanen’s absence.

  • Former host Julie Stewart-Binks sues Fox, says FS1 executive sexually assaulted her

Former Fox Sports anchor and reporter Julie Stewart-Binks filed a lawsuit Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court in which she alleges that Fox Sports executive vice president Charlie Dixon sexually assaulted her in 2016 while she was working at the network.

According to the complaint, Dixon pushed her against a wall, pinned her arms and forcibly kissed Stewart-Binks in January 2016 following a meeting to discuss an upcoming Super Bowl assignment. Stewart-Binks alleges she later reported his conduct to a Fox human resources representative but that the network “egregiously made the deliberate decision to protect Dixon and allow a sexual predator to remain an executive at Fox for nearly a decade.”

The lawsuit against Fox and Dixon follows a separate lawsuit filed earlier this month by Noushin Faraji, a former hairstylist at the network. In that complaint, Faraji alleges that Dixon groped her at a co-worker’s birthday party by “rubbing her body and groping her buttocks” in January 2017.

Dixon did not respond to multiple messages seeking comment. Fox Sports said in a statement: “These allegations are from over eight years ago. At the time, we promptly hired a third-party firm to investigate and addressed the matter based on their findings.”

Stewart-Binks worked full-time at FS1 from the network’s launch in 2013 until 2016. According to the lawsuit, she had been assigned to work as a host on Jason Whitlock’s pop-up show for the 2016 Super Bowl when Dixon invited her to a hotel bar in Marina Del Rey, Calif., to discuss that assignment.

At that meeting, “instead of discussing logistics or his vision for the show, Dixon began berating Stewart-Binks, telling her: ‘You’re not funny, interesting or talented,’” according to the complaint. After telling Stewart-Binks she was “not capable of handling big moments on TV,” Dixon allegedly gestured toward the bar and said: “The only way someone would watch you is if you got on top of this bar and took your top off.” He also allegedly told her: “You’re not hot enough to be a hot girl on TV.”

Dixon later asked Stewart-Binks to come to his hotel room for a beer and to see the view from his balcony. This set off “alerts” in Stewart-Binks’ mind, according to the complaint, but she felt she could not refuse him because he was her boss.

Once in the room, Dixon asked her to come out on the balcony and “swiftly pushed her against the wall and pinned her arms to her side,” according to the complaint. “With her arms forcefully held down and his body pressed against hers, Dixon tried to force his tongue into her mouth.” Stewart-Binks said her mouth remained shut but that Dixon “ignored her, continuing to press against her body and lick her closed mouth. While keeping one of her arms pinned, he moved his other arm from pressing her upper elbow against the wall to her body and towards her chest.”

She fled the room and, after getting in her car, called a friend to disclose what happened. The complaint does not identify that person, referring to her only as “Anonymous Friend.”

Stewart-Binks asserts in the litigation that she worried about what her rejection of Dixon’s advances would mean for her future at FS1. She decided against disclosing what allegedly happened at the hotel because she feared losing her job, particularly given that her contract was up for renewal.

Days later, Stewart-Binks was in San Francisco working as a host on Whitlock’s Super Bowl show. At a production meeting on Feb. 4, 2016, a producer told the show crew that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski had revealed recently that he had once been a stripper in college. According to the complaint, that producer and others encouraged Stewart-Binks to coax Gronkowski into doing some “Magic Mike moves” for her (a reference to a 2012 movie about male exotic dancers). The hope was to create “a viral moment.” One producer even handed her dollar bills as a prop.

Stewart-Binks was widely criticized for her role in the stunt, during which Gronkowski straddled her and gyrated his hips while she sat on a couch.

“Ordinarily, Ms. Stewart-Binks would have considered the implications of such a performance. However, fresh off Dixon’s assault, both physical and verbal, Ms. Stewart-Binks was determined to prove that she was fun and belonged in FS1’s new regime,” the complaint states. “She had to show Dixon and Fox that she had what it took to be a fun, interesting personality capable of handling big moments on TV.”

Dixon’s sexual and verbal assault and the vitriol directed at her in the wake of the Gronkowski incident “took a profound emotional toll,” according to the complaint.

Stewart-Binks was told the next month – March 2016 – that her contract would not be renewed.

According to the complaint, Stewart-Binks was contacted by a Fox human resources official in June 2017 as that official was probing allegations made against Jamie Horowitz, another FS1 executive. She told that HR representative she had nothing substantive to share about Horowitz but conveyed what allegedly happened with Dixon. Stewart-Binks states in the complaint that she provided the HR official with the names of two Fox employees with whom she disclosed her experience with Dixon. Those two employees told Stewart-Binks they corroborated her account with Fox’s HR official, according to the complaint.

In July 2017, Horowitz was fired by Fox Sports, but Dixon remained at the network. Then-Fox Sports president Eric Shanks wrote to staffers when announcing Horowitz’s exit: “Everyone at Fox Sports, no matter what role we play, or what business, function or show we contribute to—should act with respect and adhere to professional conduct at all times. These values are non-negotiable.”

Stewart-Binks went on to work in smaller roles for ESPN, CBC and other outlets. She currently hosts a podcast with former NHL player Nate Thompson, works as a reporter for SNY and the PWHL and is a brand ambassador and host for the BetRivers Sportsbook Network.

According to the complaint: “Stewart-Binks tried to put everything about Fox behind her and move forward with her new positions within the sports industry, but each time she saw a former colleague from Fox thriving on the national stage while she remained covering smaller markets, a pang of frustration lingered. This wasn’t the life she had envisioned for herself. Intrusive thoughts would enter her mind on how different her life could have been if she had just had sex with Dixon, but she would shut them down. To cope with the severe emotional toll of what Dixon had done to her, Ms. Stewart-Binks sought professional help.”

In a shocking turn of events, former host Julie Stewart-Binks has filed a lawsuit against Fox Sports, alleging that a high-ranking executive at FS1 sexually assaulted her. The lawsuit, which was filed in a New York court, claims that Stewart-Binks was assaulted by the executive during a work-related meeting.

Stewart-Binks, who was a popular host on FS1 before leaving the network in 2019, is seeking damages for emotional distress, lost wages, and other damages. The lawsuit also alleges that Fox Sports failed to take appropriate action to address the assault and protect Stewart-Binks from further harm.

This lawsuit is just the latest in a string of sexual harassment and assault allegations against high-profile figures in the sports media industry. It serves as a reminder of the importance of creating a safe and respectful work environment for all employees, regardless of their position or status.

Fox Sports has yet to respond to the lawsuit, but it is clear that this case will have far-reaching implications for the network and the industry as a whole. As the #MeToo movement continues to gain momentum, it is essential that all companies take proactive measures to prevent and address sexual harassment and assault in the workplace.

  • Conan O’Brien on how he’s preparing to host the 2025 Oscars

Conan O’Brien is prepping for his next big role: Oscars host.

The comedian sat down with ABC News’ Chris Connelly ahead of Hollywood’s biggest night and said that anything is possible for his first time as the host.

“We polled America. I spent a lot of my own money polling Americans and saying, ‘Would you like to see Conan O’Brien sing and dance?’ Shocking response,” he said. “People don’t want it, which means they’ll probably try and do it. I like to be an irritant. Let’s just say there are many possibilities. There are many possibilities. And like I say, we’ll see what happens. We’ll see what happens as we get closer. And my involvement in the show could expand, it could contract. It’ll all depend on where we are then.”

“I will say this if you like close up magic tricks,” he added. “You’ll be very happy with my Oscars performance.”

Conan O’Brien speaks with ABC News’ Chris Connelly in an interview that aired Jan. 29, 2025, on “Good Morning America.”

It’s been three years since O’Brien wrapped his late night show, “Conan,” and since then, he said that he’s been saying “yes” a lot to things, including the Oscars.

“It’s been three years since I stopped doing my late night show and I’ve been saying yes to things. It’s been this time of yes,” he said. “So I did an independent film at Sundance. I headlined at the Newport Folk Festival. I’m just saying yes to things that I wouldn’t have done before. I’m a black belt in karate now. I’m a licensed neurosurgeon. I mean, there are all these things I’m doing now that I didn’t think I would ever do before.”

When it comes to poking fun at the celebrities in the audience that night, O’Brien joked and said that he’ll “go after the ones that have personally been cruel” to him over the years.

He added, “I’m paying people to create moments.”

“I’m going to have a lot of fake moments that I can react to and people can say, ‘Wow, Conan is a genius. How did he see that coming?’” he continued. “And then later on, I’m giving Tom Hanks $300 in the parking lot.”

Ahead of the Oscars, O’Brien also talked about how he and producers are carefully crafting the show, which will take place just two months after wildfires devastated parts of Southern California, killing 29 people and destroying thousands of homes and buildings.

O’Brien noted that his own longtime assistant lost her home in the fires, saying, “There’s a misconception sometimes that, oh, some rich people lost their homes … This is something that touched everybody, regardless of your income.”

    ABC News

O’Brien said he is keeping in mind what the Los Angeles area has been through as he prepares to host the Oscars.

“L.A. has just been through this traumatic experience,” he said. “There’s a lot that’s happening nationally that people are very tense about and it changes day to day. And so my job right now with my writers is to create possibilities.”

“That’s what we’re doing,” he continued. “We’re working hard to create possibilities. And then I don’t know, I think we’re going to have to get very close to the actual air date to figure out.”

The 2025 Oscars will be held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on March 2.

For the first time ever, the Oscars will stream live on Hulu. It will also be available to stream on Hulu the next day.

Hulu is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News and “Good Morning America.”

Conan O’Brien is gearing up to host the 2025 Oscars and he’s pulling out all the stops to ensure it’s a night to remember. In a recent interview, the late-night talk show host revealed some of his preparations for the big event.

“I’ve been watching every past Oscars ceremony to study the best hosting moments and figure out how I can put my own spin on things,” O’Brien said. “I want to bring my unique brand of humor and wit to the stage while still honoring the incredible talent in the room.”

In addition to studying past hosts, O’Brien has been working closely with a team of writers to craft the perfect monologue and jokes for the evening. “I want to make sure that I strike the right balance between poking fun at Hollywood and paying tribute to the amazing work that’s being celebrated,” he explained.

But it’s not all work and no play for O’Brien. The comedian also revealed that he’s been hitting the gym and working with a personal trainer to ensure he’s in top physical shape for the long night of hosting duties. “I want to have the energy and stamina to keep the audience entertained and engaged throughout the entire show,” he said.

With his trademark sense of humor and quick wit, Conan O’Brien is sure to bring his A-game to the 2025 Oscars. Fans can’t wait to see what the host has in store for Hollywood’s biggest night.

  • ‘Today’ Host Dylan Dreyer Quietly Lists New York Apartment for $2.5 Million—as She Sparks Debate With Divisive Babysitting Rules

“Today” show anchor and mother of three Dylan Dreyer has quietly listed her New York City apartment for $2.5 million, eight years after she and husband Brian Fichera purchased the elegant abode.

Dreyer, 43, and Fichera, 38, purchased the two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in June 2016, according to property records, just a few months before they welcomed Calvin, the first of their three sons, in December.

With the addition of sons Oliver, 5, and Rusty, 3, the couple may well be ready for a more spacious dwelling.

Dreyer—who is a co-host on the third hour of “Today,” alongside Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones—and cameraman Fichera first attempted to sell the property in November of last year, according to records.

But just two weeks after the apartment was put on the market for $2,495,000, the listing was taken down, only to be restored days later.

It was most recently relisted a few days into January for the same price.

The condo, which was built in 2008, sprawls across 1,491 square feet and features floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the lush landscaping of Battery Park below.

The expansive living room has elegant oak wood flooring, and the chef’s kitchen offers a chic and minimalist design with gray cabinets, modern appliances, and marble countertops.

The dining room can accommodate 10 people.

The bedrooms are “generously proportioned,” the listing notes. The “oversized” primary suite features a “five-fixture bathroom complete with Crema Luna limestone floors and tops, Waterworks fixtures and teak cabinetry.”

The listing photos reveal the lengths that Dreyer and Fichera went to maximize the space in their second bedroom, which serves as a dedicated space for their kids. The bedroom offers a three-level bunk bed, a colorful rug, and animal-themed storage bins as well as a wall with built-in storage.

Dreyer has previously hinted at plans to move out of her Manhattan condo. In January 2022, she joked that while some might believe the space had become too tight for her family of five, she was determined to make it work for as long as possible.

She captioned the image: “‘You have to move,’ they said. ‘You’ll never fit in your apartment,’ they said. ‘Time for a bigger place,’ they said.

“This is how you do it in NYC. I think they all fit just fine … for now.”

The news of her home hitting the market comes just after the “Today” star sparked fierce debate with her babysitting instructions calendar.

Dreyer offered a glimpse into her chaotic life as an on-air talent and busy mom of three when she posted an image of the very in-depth instructions she leaves her in-laws when they babysit—sparking a furious debate among her social media followers in the process.

“How much fun would it be to have me as your daughter-in-law??” she questioned while sharing a photo of her sons’ weekly schedule, which included instructions for everything from meals to bathtime.

“I think I’m being helpful! Sound off: helpful or impossibly annoying???”

Speaking to Today.com about the calendar system, Dreyer insisted that her mother-in-law, Denise, appreciates the level of detail: “My mother-in-law babysits often. She comes down from Boston to help whenever we ask.

“She’s obsessed with my boys, and if she hasn’t seen them for more than two weeks, she’s itching for the invite! My father-in-law will join her over the weekend to help with the juggle of birthday parties and sports.”

The talk show host revealed that, although her mother-in-law wouldn’t admit if she was annoyed with the schedule, Dreyer believes she appreciates it.

“My mother-in-law wouldn’t tell me if she didn’t like it, but I think she finds it helpful so she doesn’t have to think and can instead just enjoy the boys.

“I just try to keep the weekdays organized, then the weekend is a free-for-all. I like to know they’re filling up on good foods during the week. They can live a little over the weekend!”

Although many fans praised Dreyer for her organization skills and branded her lists “helpful,” a number of her followers urged her to “slow her roll.”

Another user claimed it was “a little too detailed,” while someone else noted that it was “a bit much.”
