  • Fox News Host Slammed for Saying Husbands Shouldn’t Help with This Errand


    Fox News host Jesse Watters is getting backlash for his recent comments about former second gentleman Doug Emhoff completing a common household errand.

    During a segment on Fox News Live, Watters, 46, discussed a clip of Emhoff grocery shopping with his wife, former Vice President Kamala Harris.

    “What kind of husband goes grocery shopping with his wife?” Watters asked.

    “A normal one?” one person commented on X, along with several others who criticized Watters for asking the question.

    “What kind of husband does not?” another commenter said on X, while a further user joked, “This has to be a skit.”

    Some husbands chimed in as well, with one writing on X, “My wife I shop together, frequently! So what is Watters’ issue?” Another said, “Dude needs to get out more. Heck, I do a lot of the grocery shopping since I love cooking and eating.”

    This isn’t the first time Watters has received backlash for comments he’s made on a Fox broadcast.

    Shortly after Harris entered the presidential race in July 2024, Watters made similarly controversial comments about masculinity in response to a “White Dudes for Harris” fundraising event, saying that he couldn’t understand why “any man would vote Democrat” because it’s “not the party of strength.”

    “And to be a man and then vote for a woman just because she’s a woman is either childish — that person has mommy issues — or they are just trying to be accepted by other women,” Watters said, before adding the divisive line: “I heard the scientists say the other day that when a man votes for a woman, he actually transitions into a woman.”

    In April 2022 he sparked controversy after he shared that he once “let the air out of” his now-wife Emma DiGiovine’s tires when he “was trying to get [her] to date” him.

    “She couldn’t go anywhere. She needed a lift, I said, ‘Hey, you need a lift?’ She hopped right in the car,” Watters said during an episode of his panel series The Five.

    “Is that the first time you did it or did you use that before?” asked Jeanine Pirro about Watters’ tire-deflating strategy, to which he responded at the time, “Works like a charm.”

    “It has a happy ending!” added Watters, who wed DiGiovine in December 2019. “We’re married!”

    The moment subsequently went viral on social media, drawing a range of reactions and criticism. This prompted Watters to clarify in a later episode of the show that his comments about the incident had been “a joke” and he had “never deflated anyone’s tires.”

    Watters also received some criticism in July 2023 for comments he made after the Florida State Board of Education approved academic standards requiring middle schools to teach students that enslaved people “developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”

    “This is historical fact that slaves did develop skills while they were enslaved and used those skills as blacksmiths, in agriculture, tailoring, in the shipping business, to then use to benefit themselves and their families once they were freed,” Watters said on The Five.

    Stating that the issue was “not controversial,” Watters added that it “actually speaks to the resistance and the aptitude of the enslaved African Americans who were at the time able to better themselves and able to improve their situation despite brutal, brutal conditions.”





    Fox News host Laura Ingraham recently came under fire for controversial comments she made on her show, where she argued that husbands shouldn’t have to help with grocery shopping.

    Ingraham stated, “Husbands shouldn’t have to waste their time and energy on something as trivial as grocery shopping. It’s the wife’s job to take care of the household duties, while the husband focuses on more important matters.”

    Her remarks sparked outrage among viewers and social media users, who criticized her outdated and sexist views on gender roles. Many pointed out that household chores should be shared equally between partners, regardless of gender.

    Ingraham’s comments not only perpetuate harmful stereotypes and reinforce traditional gender norms, but they also undermine the importance of teamwork and mutual respect in a relationship.

  • How Conan O’Brien Is Prepping to Host Oscars After Parents’ Deaths, L.A. Fires


    Conan O’Brien is preparing to host the 97th annual Academy Awards by taking everything “a day at a time.”

    It’s been a tough few months for the comedian, 61, who, a month after being announced as the host of the 2025 Oscars in November, lost both his parents three days apart from one another.

    While his Pacific Palisades home was spared in the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires that began on Tuesday, Jan. 7, O’Brien is all too aware of the destruction they have left behind for so many.

    “It has been a lot happening in a very short time, and there’s a lot that happened in my personal life starting in December that was intense, and then going into this month with the fires and prep for what’s coming up,” he tells PEOPLE at the Sundance Film Festival premiere of If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, held at the Library Center Theatre in Park City, Utah, on Friday, Jan. 24.

    The actor’s father, Dr. Thomas O’Brien, died at 95 on Dec. 9, after “his health had been failing,” The Boston Globe reported.

    His mother, Ruth Reardon O’Brien, died “peacefully” at 92 on Dec. 12, according to an obituary shared by the Bell-O’Dea Funeral Home in Brookline, Mass.

    O’Brien tells PEOPLE, “It’s been a time where I just take it a day at a time,” which is the “advice” he’s been offering to others in Los Angeles.

    He recalls speaking to the woman who drove him to the premiere about the ongoing fires and learning that she was actually from Los Angeles and her apartment “burned to the ground.”

    “It’s the time to be asking other people how they’re doing, listening to them,” says O’Brien.

    “In that respect, some of the things I’m doing, like come here at Sundance for [the] film or the Oscars award show coming up, can seem silly and trivial, but they’re also important at the same time because we keep going,” he continues. “We keep going. We keep making stuff.”

    As of Friday, Jan. 24, the Palisades Fire has burned 23,448 acres and is 77% contained. The Eaton Fire is 95% contained after burning 14,021 acres, while the Hughes Fire is 56% contained after burning 10,396, per the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire).

  • Serbia offers to host Trump-Putin talks


    Serbia is ‘uniquely positioned’ to host Trump-Putin talks, said Foreign Minister Marko Đurić said on Tuesday, adding that Donald Trump entering the White House for a second presidential term is good news for Serbia.

    Đurić said the US president has “family ties” with the region and is not a person burdened by negative stereotypes from the 1990s about Serbia.

    Trump’s wife, Melania, was born in the former Yugoslavia, now Slovenia, but he also has other links to the region. His son-in-law, Jared Kushner, secured a 99-year permit to develop a luxury real estate project in Belgrade.

    The site, a former Yugoslav army headquarters, has been in the Trumps’ sights since 2013 when Donald proposed building a luxury hotel there. The project is estimated to cost $500 million.

    When he mentioned the 1990s, Đurić was likely referring to the 1998-1999 Kosovo war, in which NATO carried out air strikes on Belgrade to stop the ethnic cleansing and atrocities committed by Slobodan Milosevic’s army against the Kosovars.

    The regime of President Aleksandar Vučić is unapologetic about Belgrade’s role during the Kosovo war, and relations with Prishtina remain tense, an obstacle to its EU path. Serbia also believes it has been unfairly accused of genocide in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 1995. It also denies multiple massacres carried out in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.

    Trump “knows what it means to be unjustly accused and found guilty without being guilty,” he said, adding that Serbs support those they believe will treat them with more respect and that his countrymen have a great appetite for better relations with America based on mutual respect.

    Đurić spoke about the importance of the Serbian community in the US, alluding to the fact that Serbs in the US supported Trump and donated to his campaign.

    Acknowledging that Serbia has never been a priority for US foreign policy, Đurić said Belgrade was now focusing on building direct communication with the new US administration.

    Đurić added that he had congratulated his counterpart, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, on his appointment and would soon send him a letter expressing the intention to further deepen and strengthen cooperation and the wish that Belgrade would host both Trump and Rubio.

    The head of Serbian diplomacy also said that a senior Serbian official was due to visit Washington in February but did not give a name.

    Đurić also suggested that Serbia needs to spend more on lobbying US decision-makers, with a focus on drawing attention to “our case and our priorities”, likely another reference to Kosovo.

    Speaking in Davos, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić also praised Trump, saying he had chosen the right priorities, specifically focusing on increasing energy production and energy exports.

    Vučić also said that he had a brief conversation in Davos with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

    “It is always nice to meet a sincere friend of Serbia, such as Ursula von der Leyen. A short exchange of opinions on the current situation in the world and the region, focusing on accelerating Serbia’s European path,” Vučić wrote on Instagram.

    In the clip flagged by The Daily Mail, Lemon suggested that if “canceling is over” thanks to the new “Trump era,” there could be a chance that Lauer will return to the news.

    ‘I’ll put it this way,” Lemon said. “I think the general public would accept Matt back, and I think people would watch him. And I think the ratings would be great.”

    He also complimented Lauer, saying, “Let me say this – there are certain people who are meant to do what they are doing. Do you know what I mean? Who are just really, really good at it.”

    “I think that if he could come back to digital, he can set his own course,” Lemon added.

    Lauer was fired from his job as “Today” host in 2017 amid the height of the #MeToo movement after an employee claimed he took part in “inappropriate sexual behavior” with her at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

    Almost two years later, a book by Ronan Farrow contained graphic rape allegations by his accuser. Lauer denied the allegations and insisted the sexual acts were mutual.

    “It is alleged that an extramarital, but consensual, sexual encounter I have previously admitted having, was in fact an assault. It is categorically false, ignores the facts, and defies common sense,” Lauer wrote.

    “I had an extramarital affair with [a colleague] in 2014. It began when she came to my hotel room very late one night in Sochi, Russia. We engaged in a variety of sexual acts… each act was mutual and completely consensual,” Lauer added.

    Lemon himself was also accused of sexual assault in 2019. However, his accuser later retracted his story in 2022 after claiming he had misremembered the events of the night.

    A bombshell Variety report in April 2023 also claimed that Lemon sent threatening text messages to a colleague and repeatedly exhibited misogynistic behavior at work. Though CNN defended him and claimed the report was “riddled with patently false anecdotes,” Lemon was fired later that same month.

    Soaring Eagle Casino will present two concerts of longtime fan favorites.

    Poison frontman Bret Michaels, who has sold over 100 million records, digital downloads and streams worldwide, will perform his hit singles including “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and “Go That Far” in concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24.   • Santa Barbara Film Fest to Host US Premiere of Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon’ 2


    Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 2, the second installment of Kevin Costner’s ambitious western film series, will have its U.S. premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

    The film, which had its world premiere last summer at the Venice Film Festival, comes on the heels of Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1, which, in turn, had its world premiere last spring at the Cannes Film Festival. (On the Croisette, Costner discussed Horizon extensively during a live recording of THR’s Awards Chatter podcast.)

    On Feb. 7, SBIFF will screen the first film at 2 p.m., right before the second at 6 p.m., at the Arlington Theatre. At the conclusion of the second, Costner — a Santa Barbara local who co-wrote, directed, produced and stars in the film — will participate in a Q&A moderated by SBIFF executive director Roger Durling.

    The fest will also screen Beyond the Horizon, a behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of the film, on Feb. 13 at 8:20 p.m. It will be followed by a Q&A with Costner and Beyond the Horizon director Mark Gillard, moderated by SBIFF programming director Claudia Puig.

    Reportedly, the combined budget for the two Horizon films was $100 million, $38 million of which was fronted by Costner himself. The first grossed a disappointing $38 million worldwide, which threw the release plans for the second installment — and Costner’s hopes for making third and fourth installments — into question.
