  • Lehigh Hosts Colgate Monday Evening On CBS Sports Network


    BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men’s basketball prepares to play their second game in three days, as the Mountain Hawks welcome the Colgate Raiders to Stabler Arena on Monday, February 3 at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network.

    Colgate (9-14, 6-4 PL) has owned a significant advantage in the series against Lehigh (8-13, 3-7 PL) as of late, winning nine of their last ten against the Mountain Hawks. The Raiders lead the all-time series 65-42 and picked up a narrow 67-62 victory at Cotterell Court in this season’s first matchup on January 8.

    If Lehigh wins, they would earn their ninth win of the season and improve to 4-7 in Patriot League play. Head coach Dr. Brett Reed‘s all-time record against Colgate would improve to 18-22.

    Patriot League play continued for Lehigh men’s basketball on Saturday afternoon from the Hart Center against the hosting Holy Cross Crusaders. The Mountain Hawks led for nearly the entire game in a much needed 69-67 road victory over the Crusaders. Sophomore Cam Gillus recorded his first career double-double, notching 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Senior Tyler Whitney-Sidney matched Gillus with 16 points of his own to lead the Mountain Hawks. First-year Alfredo Addesa scored a career-high 10 points on a perfect 3-3 FG and 2-2 3FG. Lehigh posted shooting percentages of 42.9% (24-56) from the field and 37.5% (9-24) from distance while Holy Cross shot 46.8% (29-62) and 33.3% (5-15).

    The four-time defending Patriot League champion Raiders enter Monday’s contest in fourth place with a 6-4 league record. Colgate has lost three in a row ahead of this game, including a stunning 76-61 loss at home to Lafayette on Saturday. This is the first time since January 2017 that Colgate has lost three consecutive Patriot League games. Fifth-year center Jeff Woodward leads the Raiders offensively at 14.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, including a 17.6 point per game mark in Patriot League play. Senior Nicolas Louis-Jacques (11.6 ppg) and sophomore Jalen Cox (10.0 ppg) also average double-figures for the Raiders.

    Following Monday’s game, the Mountain Hawks return to Stabler Arena on Saturday, February 8 for a matchup with the American University Eagles at 2 p.m.

    Monday’s game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and can be listened to on Fox Sports 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.

  • Trump hosts Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers at White House

    MIAMI – President Donald Trump will welcome the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers to the White House on Monday afternoon to celebrate their historic victory.

    The Panthers are the first professional sports team to visit Trump at the White House since he regained office.

    Florida captured its first-ever Stanley Cup in June, defeating the Edmonton Oilers in seven games in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final.

    The Panthers secured their championship in front of more than 19,000 fans at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, with a 2-1 victory in Game 7.

    Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe scored for Florida, while goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves to seal the win.

    The hard-fought series saw Florida take a commanding 3-0 lead before dropping the next three games, narrowly avoiding becoming the second team in NHL history to lose the Stanley Cup Final after leading 3-0. The 1942 Detroit Red Wings remain the only team to suffer that fate.

    The victory also denied Edmonton its first championship since 2006 and prevented Oilers captain Connor McDavid from securing his first Stanley Cup.

    Across South Florida, fans packed watch parties, erupting in cheers as the Panthers clinched their long-awaited title.

  • Rose Bowl, Home of UCLA Football, Hosts Free Concert for L.A. Emergency Responders


    Nearly a month ago, the iconic Rose Bowl, home of UCLA football, was in danger of destruction when an evacuation order was issued during the early stage of the Los Angeles wildfires.

    On Saturday, it recognized the first responders who heroically sought to tame those fires, as several artists in the music industry put on a free concert for those individuals who worked tirelessly to protect Los Angeles. Family members were also invited.

    Saturday’s concert, titled “A Concert for All First Responders,” was headlined by country star Jelly Roll and also included performances from Lainey Wilson, Nate Smith, Marshmallow, Public Enemy and Shinedown.

    It welcomed an audience of almost 16,000, represented by the LAPD, California Professional Fire Fighters, LA Sheriff’s Department, National Guard, California Conservation Corps and a number of other local first-responder departments.

    “I want you to know that you are here tonight because you are a hero or you are a loved one of a hero,” Jelly Roll said in a speech to the crowd. “And I knew the moment I was watching this go down all the way in Tennessee in my house, I thought if I got a chance to go to California, I was going to play music to everyone who worked their a– off for the last two months trying to keep the rest of this place safe. Thank you all for having me tonight — this is awesome!”

    Jelly Roll had just performed at FireAid the night before, an event that had been hosted at the Kia Forum and Intuit Dome, which raised money to support survivors and all those affected by the fires.

    The concert featured acts like Stevie Wonder, Stevie Nicks, Lady Gaga, Lil Baby, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Rod Stewart, Earth, Wind and Fire, Katy Perry, Sting, Tate McRae, Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt and a number of others.

    The Rose Bowl had served as a sanctuary for first responders during the trying times of the fires. And on Saturday, it was utilized as one once again, acting as much more than a venue for diehard sports fans it has so iconically been known for throughout its long history.

  • Wawa hosts grand opening Friday morning of second store in Tallahassee


    TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A second Wawa location opened its doors in the capital city on Friday morning, according to a press release from the luxury gas station chain.

    The celebration began at 7:45 a.m., doors opened at 8 a.m. and a ribbon-cutting ceremony kicked off at 8:30 a.m.

    The store offered free t-shirts for the first 100 customers, free hot coffee of any size and a hoagie-building competition benefiting local charities, the press release said.

    The new store is located at 1755 North Blair Stone Road.

    Wawa projects to open 20 stores in the Florida Panhandle, including four to six stores in Tallahassee over the next five to eight years, the press release said.

    Tallahassee’s first Wawa store opened in November. It is located at 1465 Capital Circle Northwest.

  • Hillsdale College hosts talk on the historical impact of weapons


    HILLSDALE — Hillsdale College’s Center for Military History and Strategy hosted Paul Lockhart of Wright State University on Jan. 23 for a lecture titled “Why Historians Ignore Weapons—And Why they Shouldn’t.” Lockhart discussed the role of weapons in military history.

    “Understanding war is essential to understanding history,” said Professor of History David Stewart. “Despite their importance, weapons often get neglected in this study. Dr. Lockhart has done fascinating research on this topic, and it was a pleasure to host him.”

    Lockhart argued that both historians and the public typically focus on theoretical or statistical evaluations of weapons, rather than how they functioned in the real world.

    As a consequence, he argued, we significantly misunderstand the course and outcomes of wars. He gave the examples of the long rifle in the American Revolution, rifled muskets in the American Civil War, and poison gas and machine guns in World War I.

    Lockhart is a professor of history at Wright State University, where he founded undergraduate and graduate programs in the History of War and Society. He received his Ph.D. in military history and early modern European history from Purdue University.

    Lockhart is the author of seven books, including two on the military history of the American Revolution and four on Scandinavian history during the 16th and 17th centuries. His most recent book is “Firepower: How Weapons Shaped Warfare.”

    PENN STATE ROARS AT RUTGERS
    The Penn State Nittany Lions roared in front of a sold out Jersey Mike’s Arena crowd at Rutgers on Friday, Jan. 24 in Piscataway, N.J. Penn State won nine of ten matches, including four tech falls, to roll to a 35-3 win over #25 Rutgers. Shayne Van Ness (149), Mitchell Mesenbrink (165), Carter Starocci (184) and Josh Barr (197) all posted tech falls. Barr’s tech fall, of note, featured 22 unanswered points in less than 3:00 in the third period. He turned a 0-0 tie heading into the third into a 22-6 tech fall over #16 Josh Poznanski, a returning All-American, at 6:19. Carter Starocci teched #18 Shane Cartagena-Walsh 17-2, a bout that saw Starocci force the Knight into four stall warnings.

    NITTANY LIONS ROUT #4 NEBRASKA IN LINCOLN,
    LIONS WIN 8 OF 10 IN FRONT OF NEARLY 7K FANS
    Penn State routed homestanding Nebraska 31-7 in Lincoln, Neb., on Friday, Jan. 17, winning eight of ten bouts in front of a Nebraska record crowd of over 6,600 fans. Penn State used three tech falls and a major, as well as a number of impressive regular decisions, to grab the win. True freshman Luke Lilledahl downed #6 Caleb Smith 4-2 at 125 and sophomore Mitchell Mesenbrink posted a 20-3 tech fall (5:39) over #7 Bubba Wilson as well. 

    NITTANY LIONS TIE ALL-TIME MARGIN OF VICTORY RECORD
    WITH 55-0 SHUTOUT WIN OVER MICHIGAN STATE
    The Penn State Nittany Lions opened up Big Ten dual action on Friday, Jan. 10, by shutting out visiting Michigan State 55-0 in Rec Hall. Penn State tied its all-time record for margin of victory with the effort (Buffalo, 55-0, Feb. 18, 2018). The Nittany Lions had six pins (Greg Kerkvliet, Shayne Van Ness, Tyler Kasak, Levi Haines, Carter Starocci, Josh Barr), three technical falls (Luke Lilledahl, Braeden Davis, Mitchell Mesenbrink) and a major (Beau Bartlett).

    BECKETT RUNNER-UP AT F&M, 5 LIONS COMPETE
    Senior Sam Beckett went 4-1 with three majors to take second place at 174 in the Franklin & Marshall Open on Friday, Jan. 10. Four other Lions competed as well: Cael Nasdeo picked up two wins at 141, Brock Weiss grabbed two wins at 149 and Ty Watson won twice at 157. Tim Levine picked up a victory at 141.

    ZACK RYDER NAMED B1G FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK (1/8)
    Freshman Zack Ryder was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the week ending Jan. 5, 2025. Ryder was one of nine Penn State Nittany Lion wrestlers to head to the 2025 Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Jan. 4-5. He rolled through a strong field at 184 to claim the 184-pound title as a true freshman. Ryder went 5-0 overall with a pin and a tech fall. He posted a dominant 9-2 win over No. 22 DJ Parker of Oklahoma in the quarterfinals and then pinned No. 25 TJ Stewart of Virginia Tech in the semifinals. He downed Northern Colorado’s Al Heeg 6-1 (sv) in the finals. 

    THREE LIONS WIN SCUFFLE TITLES, FIVE PLACE AT UTC
    Penn State sent nine individuals to Chattanooga for the 2025 Southern Scuffle on Jan. 4-5 and three true freshmen won titles. Five Penn Staters placed overall. Zack Ryder went 5-0 with a pin and a tech to win the crown at 184. He beat #22 DJ Parker of Oklahoma 9-2 in the quarters and pinned #25 TJ Stewart of Virginia Tech in the semis on his way to the championship. Connor Mirasola went 5-0 with a pin, two techs and a major to win at 197, downing #30 Patrick Brophy of The Citadel 7-3 in the finals. Cole Mirasola went 4-0 with two techs and a major to win at 285. He downed #29 Connor Barkett of Duke in the quarters and majored #25 Lucas Stoddard of Army in the finals. Sophomore Connor Pierce went 4-1 to place second at 149 and senior+ Kurt McHenry went 6-2 to take fifth at 125.

    NASDEO WINS EDINBORO OPEN CROWN; BECKETT SECOND
    True freshman Cael Nasdeo went 3-0 with a tech and a major (plus a non-collegiate win) to claim the 141 pound title at the Edinboro Open on Jan. 4. Redshirt freshman Sam Beckett went 2-1 at 174 and took second place.

    PENN STATE NEARLY PERFECT IN NASHVILLE
    The Penn State Nittany Lions went 3-0 at the 2024 Journeymen Collegiate Duals in Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, in dominant fashion. The Nittany Lions notched two shutout wins and went 29-1 overall in their three duals. Penn State shutout Binghamton 52-0 and #15 Little Rock 44-0 and downed #8 Missouri 41-3. The Nittany Lions had 29 wins, 22 for bonus (four majors, eight technical falls, eight pins and two forfeits) and outscored its three opponents 135-3.

    TO CLOSE OUT COLLEGIATE DUALS IN NASHVILLE
    Penn State roared to a 41-3 win over #8 Missouri on Sunday, Dec. 22, to close out the 2024 Journeymen Collegiate Duals in Nashville. Beau Bartlett posted a 4-1 win over #16 Josh Edmond at 141 and Carter Starocci majored #10 Colton Hawks 10-1 at 184 to lead Penn State. Levi Haines, ranked #2 at 174, lost a thrilling 4-1 sudden victory decision to #1 Keegan O’Toole in the dual’s marquee match up.

    NITTANY LIONS POST THIRD STRAIGHT SHUTOUT, 
    BLANKING #15 LITTLE ROCK AT JOURNEYMEN
    Josh Barr posted a 4-1 (sv) win over #5 Stephen Little at 197 and Braeden Davis downed #5 Nassir Bailey 1-0 at 133 to spark Penn State to a 44-0 shutout win over #15 Little Rock in its second dual at the Journeymen Collegiate Duals on Dec. 22. The shutout was Penn State’s third straight. The Lions also got ranked wins from Shayne Van Ness, who pinned #16 Jordan Williams at 149; Tyler Kasak, a 4-2 winner over #20 Matty Bianchi at 157; and Mitchell Mesenbrink, who roared to a 17-1 tech over #21 Joey Bianchi at 165.

    PENN STATE SHUTS OUT BINGHAMTON in Nashville
    The Nittany Lions opened up the 2024 Journeymen Collegiate Duals with a 52-0 shutout win over Binghamton. Luke Lilledahl posted a 19-4 tech over #33 Carson Wagner and Carter Starocci pinned #23 Will Ebert to spark Penn State.

    BARR EARNS SECOND B1G FRESHMAN
    OF THE WEEK AWARD (12/25)
    Redshirt freshman Josh Barr was named Big Ten Freshman of the week for the week ending Dec. 22, 2024, his second honor of the season. Barr went 3-0 at the Journeymen Collegiate Duals in Nashville on Sunday, Dec. 22. He had a tech fall in PSU’s win over Binghamton and a pin in the Lion win over Missouri. Barr also used a takedown in extra time to post a thrilling 4-1 (sv) win over #5 Stephen Little in the Nittany Lions’ victory over Little Rock.

    BARTLETT AND LILLEDAHL EARN
    B1G WEEKLY HONORS (12/18)
    Senior+ Beau Bartlett was named B1G Wrestler of the week and true freshman Luke Lilledahl was named B1G Freshman of the Week for the week ending Dec. 18, 2024. Bartlett pinned No. 28 Cole Brooks and Lilledahl posted a 20-5 tech fall at 4:25 over Jack Braman in Penn State’s 54-0 shutout win over visiting Wyoming in the Bryce Jordan Center.

    PENN STATE SHUTS OUT WYOMING 54-0 IN JORDAN CENTER
    The Penn State Nittany Lions rolled to a 54-0 shut out win over visiting Wyoming on Sunday, Dec. 15. The dual, moved to the Bryce Jordan Center earlier in the week due to scheduling conflicts with the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament in Rec Hall, was wrestled in front of over 7,300 fans, turning a Rec Hall sellout into an even bigger crowd for the Cowboy dual. Penn State had five pins, four technical falls and a major in posting its second most lopsided win ever (55-0 over Buffalo on Feb. 18, 2018).

    JOSH BARR MAJORS #6 BEARD TO LEAD PENN STATE
    IN 36-3 WIN OVER LEHIGH IN ALLENTOWN’S PPL CENTER; named B1G freshman of the week
    Red shirt freshman Josh Barr tallied three takedowns (one in the second and two in a dominant third) to roll to an 11-3 major decision over #6 Michael Beard at 197, leading Penn State to a 36-3 win over the Mountain Hawks. The dual was wrestled in Allentown’s PPL Center in front of a sold out crowd of nearly 10,000 fans. Penn State won nine of ten bouts, also picking up a win from true freshman Luke Lilledahl over #15 Sheldon Seymour at 125. Barr was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week (12/12) for his efforts.

    KELLY WINS MAT-TOWN I TITLE, LEVINE RUNNER-UP
    Jack Kelly went 3-0 with two pins (in 0:13 and 0:46 seconds) to win the 174 pound title at the Mat-Town Invitational on Dec. 1 in Lock Haven, Pa. Tim Levine went 1-1 plus a non-collegiate victory to earn a runner-up finish at 133 while Sam Beckett went 2-1 to place third at 174.

    MITCHELL MESENBRINK EARNS B1G W.O.W. HONORS (11/27)
    Sophomore Mitchell Mesenbrink went 4-0 with four technical falls at the Black Knight Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 24, to earn the 165 pound title at West Point, N.Y., earning tournament Outstanding Wrestler honors. He was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Nov. 24, 2024, for his efforts.

    NITTANY LIONS DOMINATE BLACK KNIGHT INVITATIONAL
    The Penn State Nittany Lions dominated the 2024 Black Knight Invitational at Army West Point on Nov. 24. The Nittany Lions won nine of the 10 individual titles, 18 of their 22 competitors placed in the top six and every Penn Stater garnered at least one win. With results against teammates not counting as official NCAA bouts, three of Penn State’s titles included shared crowns with teammates not wrestling each other in the title bouts. Luke Lilledahl (125), Beau Bartlett (141), Shayne Van Ness (149), Tyler Kasak (157), Mitchell Mesenbrink 165), Levi Haines/Matt Lee (174), Carter Starocci/Zack Ryder (184), Lucas Cochran (197) and Greg Kerkvliet/Cole Mirasola (285) were champs. Alex Facundo (157) and Lucas Cochran (197) were runners-up. Kurt McHenry (125) and Connor Mirasola (197) placed third. Penn State rolled up a 55-9 overall record at the event, including seven majors, 24 tech falls and 15 pins (46 of its 55 wins were for bonus). Various matches that pitted Nittany Lions against each other are not included in those totals.

    NITTANY LIONS ROLL OVER DREXEL
    41-3 IN SEASON OPENER
    The Penn State Nittany Lions opened up the regular season with a 41-3 victory over visiting Drexel on Sunday, Nov. 17, in Rec Hall. True freshman Luke Lilledahl received a forfeit win at 125 in his collegiate debut and Greg Kerkvliet closed out the dual with a pin at 285. In between, the Nittany Lions picked up three decisions and four straight tech falls in the second half to roll to the win. Levis Haines (174) and Carter Starocci (184) competed the night before in the NWCA All-Star Classic Exhibition and posted tech falls the next day in the win over the Dragons. Also grabbing victories were Braeden Davis (133), Connor Pierce (149), Alex Facundo (157), Mitchell Mesenbrink (165) and Lucas Cochran (197).

    PSU SHINES AT ALL-STAR CLASSIC EXHIBITION
    While Penn State’s official season began on Sunday, Nov. 17, in Rec Hall when the Nittany Lions beat Drexel, five Nittany Lions took part in the NWCA All-Star Classic exhibition the night before. The exhibition, not an official NCAA event and does not count towards wins, losses or RPI, featured Beau Bartlett (141), Shayne Van Ness (149), Tyler Kasak (157), Levi Haines (174) and Carter Starocci (184). Bartlett dropped a hard-fought 4-1 decision to No. 2 Jesse Mendez of Ohio State, Van Ness rolled to a 16-4 major over No. 3 Ty Watters of West Virginia, Kasak posted a 4-2 win over No. 3 Peyten Keller of Ohio, Haines notched a 7-0 win over No. 3 Cade DeVos of South Dakota State and Starocci grabbed a hard-fought 4-1 (sv) win over No. 2 Parker Keckeisen of Northern Iowa.

  • #10 Rifle Hosts #14 Army in Annual Star Match


    ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 10 Navy rifle team (10-5, 3-2 GARC) is slated to return to action this Saturday at the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range at 9:00 a.m. against No. 14 Army (4-8, 0-4 GARC) in the annual Star Match. The competition is part of the Army-Navy Star Series, presented by USAA.
     
    Live results of the match will be available via NavySports.com.
     
    Accessing the USNA
    The United States Naval Academy (USNA) is closed to all vehicles without a Department of Defense-approved identification card. All other visitors are encouraged to park downtown and walk through the security gates at Gate 1. When walking on, those ages 18 and over must present a photo identification card (driver’s license) to gain access and those ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
     
    Star Match Scoring Format
    Scoring for the Star Match will feature eight starters for each team in smallbore and air rifle with the top-five scores counting toward each team’s final score. The NCAA scoring model of starting five shooters in each event with the top-four scores counting will still be used for NCAA Championship qualification purposes.
     
    All-Time Series
    In a series that dates back to the 1939 season, Army holds a 47-36 edge over Navy in the 83 meetings between the two service academies. However, the Midshipmen have won five of the last six matches against the Black Knights, including three straight Star wins, along with having a 5-2 record against Army under the direction of head coach Mike Anti.
     
    2024-25 Star Series Breakdown
    In the overall 2024-25 Army-Navy Star Series, presented by USAA, Army has a 9-3 advantage over Navy. The Midshipmen have claimed the Star in men’s rugby, men’s cross country, and football. Saturday’s rifle match is one of four Star competitions on the day, joining men’s and women’s indoor track and field and gymnastics. Rifle is the only Star competition taking place in Annapolis.

    President’s Trophy Match
    Army and Navy met earlier this season at the annual President’s Trophy Match in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Nov. 2. With an identical scoring structure as the Army-Navy Star Match, the Midshipmen finished second in the event with an overall score of 5860 points. The Black Knights finished third in the field of four teams, posting a score of 5823 points.
     
    National Standings
    Navy enters the weekend 10th in the standings with an NCAA qualifying score of 4717.67, while Army is four spots back in 14th with a tally of 4695.67. Heading into the weekend, Murray State holds the eighth and final spot that is needed to qualify for the NCAA Championship with a 4725 average score, setting the mark to beat in order to get into the coveted top 8.
     
    Scouting the Midshipmen
    Two weekends ago, Navy opened the spring portion of its season at top-ranked West Virginia. The Mountaineers recorded a 4754-4720 victory, but the 4720 points for the Mids marked a season-high and was the fourth-best performance in program history.
     
    Sophomore Isabella Baldwin leads the team in air rifle and aggregate scoring, while ranking second on the squad in smallbore. She boasts a 596.4 average in air rifle, while notching an 1182.8 in aggregate. Baldwin has an average of 586.4 in smallbore.
     
    Senior Marleigh Duncan is atop the Navy standings in smallbore, while ranking second on the team in air rifle and aggregate. She has a team-best average score of 586.5 in smallbore, while notching a 591.4 in air rifle. Duncan’s aggregate average is 1177.9.
     
    Junior Parker Haydin is third on the team in air rifle and combined, while coming in fourth in smallbore. Haydin averages 581.6 in smallbore and 591.3 in air rifle for an aggregate tally of 1172.9.
     
    Senior team captain Stephanie Milvain follows Haydin in both air rifle and aggregate, while finishing third behind Duncan in smallbore. Milvain has an average performance of 582.8 in smallbore with a 588.0 in air rifle. She has an aggregate score of 1170.0 just past the midway point of the 2024-25 season.
     
    Sophomore Ryan Wee and senior Joshua Potts round out Navy’s top five in each shooting category. Wee is fifth in smallbore (579.8) and aggregate (1164.1) with Potts posting a 586.9 for fifth in air rifle. Potts is just behind Wee in smallbore (573.4) and aggregate (1160.3), while Wee has an air rifle tally of 584.7.
     
    Juniors Catherine Dely, Grace Shepard, and Devin Uhrich, sophomores John Dely and Chelsie Glover, along with freshman Elizabeth Johnson close out the scoring for the Midshipmen. C.Dely has averages of 573.0 (smallbore), 584.6 (air rifle), and 1156.4 (aggregate) in six competitions. Shepard has competed in five matches with tallies of 564.2 (smallbore), 584.8 (air rifle), and 1149.0 (aggregate). Uhrich has notched averages of 568.4 in smallbore, 578.7 in air rifle, and 1146.4 in aggregate, while Johnson has median performances of 565.4 (smallbore), 581.0 (air rifle), and 1146.4 (aggregate). Glover saw her first action of the year at West Virginia, posting scores of 564 (smallbore), 573 (air rifle), and 1137 combined, while J.Dely has competed in four matches with totals of 540.3 (smallbore), 555.0 (air rifle), and 1092.8 (aggregate).
     
    Scouting the Opposition
    Army enters the match with a 4-8 overall record, including an 0-4 mark in the Great America Rifle Conference. Most recently, the Black Knights hosted Mount Aloysius, Nebraska, and UAB. Army registered 4672 points to defeat the Mounties (4566 points) and Blazers (4575). The Cornhuskers used a score of 4731 to topple the Black Knights.
     
    Junior Chris Jennings was Army’s top shooter, placing third in smallbore behind a season-high 588; was fifth in air rifle (590); and posted the fourth highest aggregate mark (1178). Five Black Knights broke into the top nine smallbore spots with Jennings and Briggs Moore (584) grabbing third and fifth, respectively, followed by Nicholas Bull (578), Barbara Forgues (576) and Brenna Green (575) claiming seven through nine. Green (587) was also sixth in air rifle (587), just one spot behind Jennings’ 590. Also placing among the leaders were Bull (9th / 585), Moore (11th / 585), Forgues (12th / 583) and Ashton Arlington (14th / 582).
     
    Up Next
    Following the Star Match with Army, Navy will travel to Charleston, S.C. for a pair of road matches against The Citadel on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 15-16. Competition is slated for 9:00 a.m. both days.
