  • Over 100 juveniles attend massive boozy house party at school principal’s home: Police

    An elementary school principal has been arrested after allegedly throwing a massive boozy house party for over 100 juveniles, authorities said.

    The incident occurred on Jan. 19 when authorities from the Cocoa Beach Police Department responded to a home after reports of a large house party and “observed over 100 juveniles at the residence in matching t-shirts, many of whom were consuming alcohol that was later learned to be available in coolers at the residence,” according to a statement from the Cocoa Beach Police Department.

    The homeowner was quickly identified to be Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, the principal of nearby Roosevelt Elementary School, police said.

    “While officers were investigating the party, a juvenile was located on the front lawn experiencing an alcohol related medical event,” authorities said in their statement regarding the party. “The juvenile was so heavily intoxicated that Brevard County Fire Rescue (BCFR) had to respond to treat them.”

    “During this time, the homeowner, Hill-Brodigan, was seen by officers in the driveway of her residence turning off the outside lights and entering her residence, causing BCFR to auxiliary lighting on their vehicle to treat the juvenile,” police continued. “Additionally, a traffic stop was conducted near the residence resulting in the arrest of the juvenile driver for DUI.”

    Another intoxicated adult female — later identified as Karly Anderson, a teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School — was also identified as being at the party, according to the Cocoa Beach Police Department.

    Numerous juveniles and their parents were interviewed by police in the days after the incident and an arrest was obtained for Hill-Brodigan on charges of child neglect, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and holding an open house party, police said.

    Anderson was also arrested and charged with child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

    The school has yet to issue a statement regarding the party and the investigation remains open.

    Over 100 juveniles attend massive boozy house party at school principal’s home: Police

    In a shocking turn of events, over 100 juveniles were found partying at a school principal’s home in a suburban neighborhood. According to police reports, the house party was filled with alcohol and underage drinking.

    The party was reportedly organized by a group of students who attend the school where the principal works. It is believed that the principal was out of town at the time of the party and was unaware of the chaos happening at their home.

    Police were called to the scene after neighbors reported loud noise and disturbances coming from the house. When they arrived, they found a large group of underage individuals drinking and causing a ruckus.

    The juveniles were cited for underage drinking and disturbing the peace, and the school principal is now facing potential repercussions for the incident. It serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of underage drinking and the importance of responsible adult supervision.

    As the investigation continues, the community is left in shock at the brazenness of the juveniles and the potential consequences of their actions. Parents are urged to talk to their children about the dangers of underage drinking and the importance of making responsible choices.

  • Principal Accused of Hosting Alcohol-Fueled House Party with 100 Students, Including 1 Having ‘Medical Event’

    A Florida elementary school principal was arrested for allegedly throwing an alcohol-fueled house party attended by more than 100 underage students, including one juvenile who was treated at the scene for heavy intoxication, according to police.

    On Sunday, Jan. 19, police in Cocoa Beach were called to a home where a large party was taking place, Cocoa Beach Police said in a press release. There they allegedly found more than 100 juveniles in matching t-shirts, many of whom were consuming alcohol that was later learned to be available in coolers at the residence, police said.

    Officers found one juvenile on the front lawn “experiencing an alcohol related medical event,” police said.

    “The juvenile was so heavily intoxicated that Brevard County Fire Rescue (BCFR) had to respond to treat them,” according to the release.

    Officers identified the homeowner as Roosevelt Elementary School principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, 47, of Cocoa Beach, police said in the release.

    While EMTs tended to the juvenile, “Hill-Brodigan was seen by officers in the driveway of her residence turning off the outside lights and entering her residence, causing BCFR to use auxiliary lighting on their vehicle to treat the juvenile,” police alleged in the release.

    After police arrived, “An intoxicated adult female identified as Karly Anderson, 45, approached officers on scene identifying herself as a teacher (who) had been at the party,” police alleged in the release.

    Police learned she was a teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School.

    In the following days, Cocoa Beach Police Detectives interviewed numerous juveniles and parents.

    An arrest warrant was obtained for Hill-Brodigan, who is charged with child neglect, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and holding an “open house party,” police said.

    Anderson was also arrested, facing charges of child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

    A juvenile was arrested for an alleged DUI after a traffic stop was conducted near the residence, police said.

    Both women have been placed on administrative leave pending the results of a police investigation, Brevard Public Schools said, per News 4 Jax.

    “We are extremely troubled by these accusations and are fully cooperating with the Cocoa Beach Police Department,” the district said. “Our commitment to student safety remains our top priority.”

    In a shocking turn of events, a high school principal has been accused of hosting an alcohol-fueled house party with over 100 students in attendance. The party reportedly spiraled out of control, resulting in one student experiencing a medical emergency.

    The principal, who has not been named, is facing serious allegations of reckless behavior and endangering the lives of the students under his care. The incident has sparked outrage among parents and the community, with many calling for his immediate removal from his position.

    According to reports, the party was held at the principal’s home and included a large amount of alcohol being consumed by underage students. The situation quickly escalated, with one student reportedly suffering a medical event as a result of the excessive drinking.

    This egregious display of poor judgment and negligence has left many questioning the leadership and integrity of the school administration. The safety and well-being of students should always be the top priority, and it is deeply concerning to see a principal engaging in such irresponsible behavior.

    As investigations into the incident continue, it is crucial that swift and appropriate action is taken to address this unacceptable behavior. The community deserves better leadership and accountability from those entrusted with the education and care of their children.

  • Idaho House calls on U.S. Supreme Court to reverse same-sex marriage ruling  • Idaho Capital Sun

    The Idaho House of Representatives on Monday called for the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse the 2015 ruling that extended the fundamental right of marriage to same-sex couples.

    On Monday, the Idaho House voted 46-24 to pass House Joint Memorial 1.

    Although it does not carry the force and effect of law, House Joint Memorial 1 says the Idaho Legislature rejects the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Obergefell v. Hodges and calls on the U.S. Supreme Court to “restore the natural definition of marriage, a union of one man and one woman.”

    Joint Senate and House rules of the Idaho Legislature define a joint memorial as “A petition or representation made by the House of Representatives and concurred in by the Senate, or vice versa, addressed to whoever can effectuate the request of the memorial.”

    Rep. Heather Scott, R-Blanchard, sponsored the memorial.

    “I would ask you to substitute any other issue and ask yourself, ‘Do I want the federal government creating rights for us, for Idahoans,’” Scott said in her floor debate. “So what if the federal government redefined property rights or nationalized water rights? What does that look like if they came up with some new fair use policy or came up with different ways to define property rights? That is not a decision for the judges; it is a decision for the states.”

    GET THE MORNING HEADLINES.

    During debate on the House floor Monday, Scott repeatedly said marriage is a decision that should be left for the states to decide. But Scott’s memorial actually calls on the U.S. Supreme Court – not the states – to define marriage as a union of one man and one woman.

    Scott went on to say the Obergefell decision poses threats to religious liberty. For example, Scott said cake-makers and photographers were pressured to support marriages they don’t personally agree with.

    “Christians across the nation are being targeted,” Scott said.

    15 Republicans join all Democrats in the House to vote against same-sex marriage memorial

    All House Democrats and 15 House Republicans opposed House Joint Memorial 1, but it still passed with a comfortable 46-24 margin on Monday.

    Need to get in touch?

    Have a news tip?

    Rep. Todd Achilles, D-Boise, voted against the memorial after calling it nothing more than a grumpy letter that will be thrown in the trash.

    House Minority Leader Ilana Rubel, D-Boise, said calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to strike down its ruling guaranteeing same-sex couples the right to marry is deeply upsetting to many LGBTQ+ Idahoans. Rubel said one of her sons is gay and when he heard about the House Joint Memorial 1 he expressed concern that he would not be able to marry his longterm partner and still live in Idaho.

    “It’s deeply upsetting to some of those folks, and it makes them not want to live here,” Rubel said. “These are good people. These are good, law-abiding people who are feeling like their Legislature doesn’t want them here and doesn’t want them to be able to live the full rights that everybody else can.”

    Despite opposition from both parties, House Republicans who control a supermajority were still able to comfortably pass House Joint Memorial 1 by a 46-24 vote.

    In 2006, Idaho voters passed an amendment to the Idaho Constitution that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

    A marriage between a man and a woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this state,” the Idaho Constitution states.

    In 2014 a federal judge ruled the amendment to the Idaho Constitution blocking same-sex marriage was unconstitutional.

    Then in 2015 the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges legalized same-sex marriage in Idaho.

    House Joint Memorial 1 heads next to the Idaho Senate for consideration. If the Senate takes the memorial up and passes it, it does not require the signature of the governor, like a new law would.

    YOU MAKE OUR WORK POSSIBLE.

    The Idaho House recently passed a resolution urging the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse its landmark ruling legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide. The resolution, which passed with a vote of 49-21, asserts that the court overstepped its bounds and infringed on states’ rights by legalizing same-sex marriage in 2015.

    Supporters of the resolution argue that the decision should be left to individual states to decide, rather than being mandated by the federal government. They believe that marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman, and that the Supreme Court’s ruling undermines the traditional definition of marriage.

    Opponents of the resolution argue that same-sex couples deserve the same rights and protections as opposite-sex couples, and that denying them the right to marry is discriminatory and unconstitutional. They believe that love is love, regardless of gender, and that the Supreme Court made the right decision in legalizing same-sex marriage.

    The resolution is largely symbolic, as the Supreme Court is unlikely to revisit its ruling on same-sex marriage. However, it reflects the ongoing debate and division within Idaho and the country as a whole on the issue of marriage equality.

  • Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness – The White House

    By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered:

    Section 1.  Purpose and Policy.  It is in the national interest to promote the extraordinary heritage of our Nation and ensure future generations of American citizens celebrate the legacy of our American heroes.  The naming of our national treasures, including breathtaking natural wonders and historic works of art, should honor the contributions of visionary and patriotic Americans in our Nation’s rich past.

    Sec. 2.  Appointments to the U.S. Board on Geographic Names.  (a)  Within seven days of the date of this order, each agency head with authority to appoint members to the Board on Geographic Names (Board) pursuant to 43 U.S.C. 364a, shall review their respective appointees and consider replacing those appointees in accordance with applicable law.

    (b)  The Secretary of the Interior shall review and consider additional appointments to the Board to assist in fulfilling all aspects of this order, subject to all applicable laws.

    (c)  With respect to all applications for naming and renaming submitted to the newly constituted Board, the Board shall advance the policy established in section 1 of this order to honor the contributions of visionary and patriotic Americans and may update its principles, policies, and procedures as needed to achieve this policy.

    (d)  Where Congressional action is required to establish a renaming in public law, following Board approval on renaming, the Board shall provide guidance to all relevant Federal agencies to use the Board-approved name in the interim in federal documents and achieve consistency across the federal government.

    Sec. 3.  Renaming of Mount McKinley.  (a)  President William McKinley, the 25th President of the United States, heroically led our Nation to victory in the Spanish-American War.  Under his leadership, the United States enjoyed rapid economic growth and prosperity, including an expansion of territorial gains for the Nation.  President McKinley championed tariffs to protect U.S. manufacturing, boost domestic production, and drive U.S. industrialization and global reach to new heights.  He was tragically assassinated in an attack on our Nation’s values and our success, and he should be honored for his steadfast commitment to American greatness.

    In 1917, the country officially honored President McKinley through the naming of North America’s highest peak.  Yet after nearly a century, President Obama’s administration, in 2015, stripped the McKinley name from federal nomenclature, an affront to President McKinley’s life, his achievements, and his sacrifice.

    This order honors President McKinley for giving his life for our great Nation and dutifully recognizes his historic legacy of protecting America’s interests and generating enormous wealth for all Americans.

    (b)  Within 30 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of the Interior shall, consistent with 43 U.S.C. 364 through 364f, reinstate the name “Mount McKinley.”  The Secretary shall subsequently update the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) to reflect the renaming and reinstatement of Mount McKinley.  The national park area surrounding Mount McKinley shall retain the name Denali National Park and Preserve.

    (c)  The Secretary of the Interior shall work with Alaska Native entities and state and local organizations to adopt names for landmarks to honor the history and culture of the Alaskan people.

    Sec. 4.  Gulf of America.  (a)  The area formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico has long been an integral asset to our once burgeoning Nation and has remained an indelible part of America.  The Gulf was a crucial artery for America’s early trade and global commerce.  It is the largest gulf in the world, and the United States coastline along this remarkable body of water spans over 1,700 miles and contains nearly 160 million acres.  Its natural resources and wildlife remain central to America’s economy today.  The bountiful geology of this basin has made it one of the most prodigious oil and gas regions in the world, providing roughly 14% of our Nation’s crude-oil production and an abundance of natural gas, and consistently driving new and innovative technologies that have allowed us to tap into some of the deepest and richest oil reservoirs in the world.  The Gulf is also home to vibrant American fisheries teeming with snapper, shrimp, grouper, stone crab, and other species, and it is recognized as one of the most productive fisheries in the world, with the second largest volume of commercial fishing landings by region in the Nation, contributing millions of dollars to local American economies.  The Gulf is also a favorite destination for American tourism and recreation activities.  Further, the Gulf is a vital region for the multi-billion-dollar U.S. maritime industry, providing some of the largest and most impressive ports in the world.  The Gulf will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping America’s future and the global economy, and in recognition of this flourishing economic resource and its critical importance to our Nation’s economy and its people, I am directing that it officially be renamed the Gulf of America.

    (b)  As such, within 30 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of the Interior shall, consistent with 43 U.S.C. 364 through 364f, take all appropriate actions to rename as the “Gulf of America” the U.S. Continental Shelf area bounded on the northeast, north, and northwest by the States of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida and extending to the seaward boundary with Mexico and Cuba in the area formerly named as the Gulf of Mexico.  The Secretary shall subsequently update the GNIS to reflect the renaming of the Gulf and remove all references to the Gulf of Mexico from the GNIS, consistent with applicable law.  The Board shall provide guidance to ensure all federal references to the Gulf of America, including on agency maps, contracts, and other documents and communications shall reflect its renaming.

    Sec. 5.  Additional Action.  The Secretary of Interior may solicit public and intergovernmental input regarding additional patriots to honor, particularly in light of America’s semiquincentennial celebration, and shall recommend action to me, through the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy.

    Sec. 6.  General Provisions.  (a)  Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

    (i)   the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

    (ii)  the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

    (b)  This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

    (c)  This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

    THE WHITE HOUSE,

        January 20, 2025.

    In recent years, there has been a growing movement to restore the names of American landmarks and institutions that honor the greatness of our nation. The White House, one of the most iconic symbols of American democracy, is no exception.

    For decades, the White House has stood as a beacon of freedom, democracy, and leadership. Its name represents the values and ideals that make America great. However, in recent years, there have been calls to change the name of the White House to something more politically correct or culturally sensitive.

    But changing the name of the White House would be a disservice to the legacy of our founding fathers and the countless men and women who have served our country within its walls. The name “White House” is a reminder of the enduring principles of freedom, equality, and justice that have guided our nation for centuries.

    Instead of erasing history, we should embrace it and celebrate the greatness of America. The White House should stand as a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and leadership that have shaped our nation and continue to inspire us today.

    Let us honor American greatness by preserving the name of the White House and all that it represents. Let us continue to uphold the values of freedom, democracy, and leadership that have made America the greatest nation on Earth.

  • The Iron Dome for America – The White House

    By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including my authority as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States, it is hereby ordered:
    Section 1.  Purpose.  The threat of attack by ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missiles, and other advanced aerial attacks, remains the most catastrophic threat facing the United States.
    President Ronald Reagan endeavored to build an effective defense against nuclear attacks, and while this program resulted in many technological advances, it was canceled before its goal could be realized.  And since the United States withdrew from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty in 2002 and initiated development of limited homeland missile defense, official United States homeland missile defense policy has remained only to stay ahead of rogue-nation threats and accidental or unauthorized missile launches.
    Over the past 40 years, rather than lessening, the threat from next-generation strategic weapons has become more intense and complex with the development by peer and near-peer adversaries of next-generation delivery systems and their own homeland integrated air and missile defense capabilities.
    Sec. 2.  Policy.  To further the goal of peace through strength, it is the policy of the United States that:
         (a)  The United States will provide for the common defense of its citizens and the Nation by deploying and maintaining a next-generation missile defense shield;
         (b)  The United States will deter — and defend its citizens and critical infrastructure against — any foreign aerial attack on the Homeland; and
         (c)  The United States will guarantee its secure second-strike capability.
    Sec. 3.  Implementation.  Within 60 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of Defense shall:
         (a)  Submit to the President a reference architecture, capabilities-based requirements, and an implementation plan for the next-generation missile defense shield.  The architecture shall include, at a minimum, plans for:
    (i)     Defense of the United States against ballistic, hypersonic, advanced cruise missiles, and other next-generation aerial attacks from peer, near-peer, and rogue adversaries;
    (ii)    Acceleration of the deployment of the Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor layer;
    (iii)   Development and deployment of proliferated space-based interceptors capable of boost-phase intercept;
    (iv)    Deployment of underlayer and terminal-phase intercept capabilities postured to defeat a countervalue attack;
    (v)     Development and deployment of a custody layer of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture;
    (vi)    Development and deployment of capabilities to defeat missile attacks prior to launch and in the boost phase;
    (vii)   Development and deployment of a secure supply chain for all components with next-generation security and resilience features; and
    (viii)  Development and deployment of non-kinetic capabilities to augment the kinetic defeat of ballistic, hypersonic, advanced cruise missiles, and other next-generation aerial attacks;
         (b)  Review relevant authorities and organization of the Department of Defense to develop and deploy capabilities at the necessary speed to implement this directive;
         (c)  Jointly with the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, submit to the President a plan to fund this directive, allowing sufficient time for consideration by the President before finalization of the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget; and
         (d)  In cooperation with United States Strategic Command and United States Northern Command, submit to the President:
    (i)   An updated assessment of the strategic missile threat to the Homeland; and
    (ii)  A prioritized set of locations to progressively defend against a countervalue attack by nuclear adversaries.
    Sec. 4.  Allied and Theater Missile Defense Review.  The United States continues to cooperate on missile defense with its allies and partners to aid in the defense of ally populations and troops and of forward-deployed United States troops.  Following the submission to the President of the next-generation missile defense reference architecture under section 3(a) of this order, the Secretary of Defense shall direct a review of theater missile defense posture and initiatives to identify ways in which the United States and its allies and partners can:
         (a)  Increase bilateral and multilateral cooperation on missile defense technology development, capabilities, and operations;
         (b)  Improve theater missile defenses of forward-deployed United States troops and allied territories, troops, and populations; and
         (c)  Increase and accelerate the provision of United States missile defense capabilities to allies and partners.
    Sec. 5.  General Provisions.  (a)  Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

    1. the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or
    2. the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

        January 27, 2025.

    The Iron Dome for America – The White House

    In recent years, the Iron Dome missile defense system has proven to be a crucial tool in protecting the citizens of Israel from incoming rocket attacks. Now, there are calls for a similar system to be implemented in the United States, with the White House at the forefront of these discussions.

    The Iron Dome is a mobile air defense system that uses interceptor missiles to shoot down incoming rockets and mortar shells. It has been credited with saving countless lives and preventing widespread destruction in Israel, particularly during conflicts with Hamas in Gaza.

    With the increasing threat of missile attacks from rogue states and terrorist groups, many believe that the United States needs its own version of the Iron Dome to protect its citizens and infrastructure. The White House has expressed interest in exploring the possibility of implementing such a system, with discussions currently underway on how best to proceed.

    While the cost of implementing an Iron Dome system in the United States would be significant, the potential benefits in terms of saving lives and preventing damage to critical infrastructure cannot be overstated. As threats from abroad continue to evolve and multiply, it is crucial that the United States takes proactive steps to defend itself and its citizens.

    The White House is committed to exploring all options for enhancing the country’s defense capabilities, and the potential implementation of an Iron Dome system is just one of many avenues being explored. As discussions continue, the safety and security of the American people remain the top priority for the administration.

    Stay tuned for updates on the potential implementation of an Iron Dome system in the United States, as the White House continues to work towards ensuring the safety and security of all Americans.

  • Declassification of Records Concerning the Assassinations of President John F. Kennedy – The White House

    By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:

    Section 1.  Policy and Purpose.  More than 50 years after the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Federal Government has not released to the public all of its records related to those events.  Their families and the American people deserve transparency and truth.  It is in the national interest to finally release all records related to these assassinations without delay.

    The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 required all records related to the assassination of President Kennedy to be publicly disclosed in full by October 26, 2017, unless the President certifies that:  (i) continued postponement is made necessary by an identifiable harm to the military defense, intelligence operations, law enforcement, or conduct of foreign relations; and (ii) the identifiable harm is of such gravity that it outweighs the public interest in disclosure.  President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, section 5(g)(2)(D), Public Law 102-526, 106 Stat. 3443, 3448–49, codified at 44 U.S.C. 2107 note.

    I previously accepted proposed redactions from executive departments and agencies (agencies) in 2017 and 2018, but ordered the continued re-evaluation of those remaining redactions.  See Temporary Certification for Certain Records Related to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 82 Fed. Reg. 50,307–08 (Oct. 31, 2017); Certification for Certain Records Related to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 83 Fed. Reg. 19, 157–58 (Apr. 26, 2018).  In the Presidential Memorandum of April 26, 2018, I also ordered agencies to re-review each of those redactions over the next 3 years and disclose information that no longer warrants continued withholding under the standard set forth in section 5(g)(2)(D) of the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992.

    President Biden issued subsequent certifications with respect to these records in 2021, 2022, and 2023, which gave agencies additional time to review the records and withhold information from public disclosure.  See Temporary Certification Regarding Disclosure of Information in Certain Records Related to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 86 Fed. Reg. 59,599 (Oct. 22, 2021); Certifications Regarding Disclosure of Information in Certain Records Related to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 87 Fed. Reg. 77,967 (Dec. 15, 2022); Certification Regarding Disclosure of Information in Certain Records Related to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 88 Fed. Reg. 43,247 (June 30, 2023).

    I have now determined that the continued redaction and withholding of information from records pertaining to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is not consistent with the public interest and the release of these records is long overdue.  And although no Act of Congress directs the release of information pertaining to the assassinations of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I have determined that the release of all records in the Federal Government’s possession pertaining to each of those assassinations is also in the public interest.

         Sec. 2.  Declassification and Disclosure.  (a)  Within 15 days of the date of this order, the Director of National Intelligence and the Attorney General shall, in coordination with the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and the Counsel to the President, present a plan to the President for the full and complete release of records relating to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

         (b)  Within 45 days of the date of this order, the Director of National Intelligence and the Attorney General shall, in coordination with the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and the Counsel to the President, review records related to the assassinations of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and present a plan to the President for the full and complete release of these records.

         Sec. 3.

  • Energized House Republicans look to Trump for guidance at annual policy retreat

    DORAL, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump is expected to rally House Republicans Monday at their annual policy retreat as they look to make progress on tax cuts, border security and other conservative priorities.

    House Republicans are holding their annual policy retreat at Trump National Doral Miami, a posh resort with four golf courses and a ballroom named after the president. They are trying to find consensus on a spending bill before a March 14 deadline and secondly on a budget blueprint that would set the stage for passing a filibuster-proof tax, energy and border security bill later this year.

    It’s a daunting task, with Speaker Mike Johnson setting the first week of February for the House Budget Committee to pass a budget blueprint that is key to the whole process.

    “That will be where the lion’s share of these campaign promises we made are fulfilled,” Johnson said. “And that’s what all the hard work here is, in the room with all of us negotiating and coming to consensus.”

    Political capital is almost always at its peak at the start of a new presidential term, even more so because this is Trump’s second and he is prevented under the Constitution from a third. Moving swiftly is all the more important because the GOP majorities are slim, particularly in the House.

    Johnson is trying to lump many of the GOP priorities into one massive catch-all bill that Senate Democrats cannot filibuster, but many Republican senators think it would be better to do two bills — the first focused on border security and defense, and the second on extending and expanding upon the tax cuts passed in Trump’s first term.

    Republicans are eyeing potential changes to key safety net programs, such as work requirements for those participating in Medicaid, to help offset the cost of enacting their priorities.

    House Republicans said they expect more specifics to be announced after the retreat on where they are headed.

    Until then, they were highlighting Trump’s first week in office, particularly reveling in the showdown that Trump had with Columbia this past weekend over accepting flights of deported migrants from the U.S.

    White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement that Columbia agreed to all of Trump’s terms, “including the unrestricted acceptance of all illegal aliens from Colombia returned from the United States, including on U.S. military aircraft, without limitation or delay.”

    “Think about it, President Trump, I don’t even think had finished the front nine before he successfully forced the Columbian president to take back their illegal immigrants,” said Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Mich. “The days of America being walked all over are long gone thanks to President Trump.”

    On the budget fight to come, Democrats are already casting it as one that would primarily benefit the wealthy at the expense of others, with House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries labeling the Republican plan a “contract against America.”

    “It will hurt working families, hurt the middle class, hurt our children, hurt our seniors and hurt our veterans,” Jeffries said.

    Republicans are warning that if Congress does not act quickly to extend tax relief, capital will remain on the sidelines and families next year would see child tax credits and a guaranteed tax deduction greatly reduced, upping their federal tax bill.

    Trump and Republican leaders are also going to have to find a way to extend the nation’s debt limit. The limit must be raised by Congress, and failure to do so risks the federal government defaulting on its debt and unable to pay all its bills.

    Under President Joe Biden, Republican lawmakers sought concessions on spending before agreeing to suspending the debt ceiling, but it’s unclear how adamant they will be on deficit reduction during a Trump presidency.

    At the annual policy retreat for House Republicans, there is a palpable sense of energy and excitement as lawmakers gather to strategize for the year ahead. With the midterm elections looming, the stakes are high, and members are eager to rally behind a unified message.

    One key figure who is expected to play a central role in shaping the party’s agenda is former President Donald Trump. Despite no longer holding office, Trump remains a powerful force within the GOP, and many House Republicans are looking to him for guidance on key policy issues.

    From immigration reform to healthcare, tax policy to national security, lawmakers are eager to hear Trump’s thoughts and receive his endorsement on their legislative priorities. With Trump’s loyal base of supporters still a major force within the party, his influence is undeniable.

    As House Republicans huddle together to chart their course for the coming months, there is a sense of optimism and determination in the air. With Trump’s guidance, they hope to harness this energy and momentum to achieve their goals and secure victories in the upcoming elections.
