Patriots’ Hunter Henry Is Reaching Milestones In Ninth NFL Season

Three games are left for the New England Patriots. Expect Hunter Henry to make them count.

The veteran tight end stands with 635 receiving yards on the regular season. At age 30, he also stands just 18 away from resetting his career high from 2019 with the Los Angeles Chargers. The next chance to get there will arrive at Highmark Stadium.

Sunday’s flexed kickoff against the Buffalo Bills is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.

“Obviously we play these guys two of the last three weeks. It’s a divisional game,” Henry told reporters of the AFC East champions during his Wednesday press conference. “You’re going on the road. I mean, this is an awesome environment. Buffalo is a cool place to play. Tremendously talented football team. I mean, obviously they’re playing great this year. It’s a tough challenge, so you’ve got to be excited for the challenge.”

Every game has been a challenge for a 3-11 team. But the captain at tight end has continued to be an answer from September into December. Last week, Henry brought himself to 62 catches on the year, eclipsing a mark that remained since his final tour with the organization that drafted him.

“Yeah, it’s always good to achieve a milestone,” the 6-foot-5, 249-pound Henry said. “It was a while ago, I feel like, that I had that. I feel like that was like my fourth or fifth year. So, yeah, it’s always good to have a new milestone. It’s something to chase after for next year, too. Hopefully I can keep stacking and stack it a little higher so I’ll have even more to achieve.”

The former John Mackey Award winner entered the NFL in the second round at pick No. 35 overall back in 2016. And as free agency opened in 2021, he made his way from Los Angeles to Foxborough on a three-year, $37.5 million contract. A three-year, $27 million extension kept him there prior to the start of legal tampering around the league last March.

Henry’s run with the Patriots has featured 2,166 yards and 18 touchdowns through the air. Through 62 games, he has amassed 195 catches. Only four tight ends in franchise history accumulated more during their tenures. After recently surpassing the 184 put forth by Ben Watson, only Russ Francis’ 207, Marv Cook’s 210, Ben Coates’ 490 and Rob Gronkowski’s 521 lie ahead at the position, per Stathead.com.

The University of Arkansas product hasn’t been held out of the stat sheet for 17 consecutive appearances dating back to last winter.

“I take a lot of pride in just trying to be consistent,” added Henry. “Go out there and be the same guy week in and week out, be available and make plays for this team when I can. Obviously those guys did it for a long time and were very successful. Guys that I’ve watched and had a lot of success. So, it means a lot just to be mentioned in those names because those are all great players.”

Henry caught nine touchdowns during his first season with New England. And while his last visit to the end zone came in October during rookie quarterback Drake Maye’s first NFL start, he leads the passing game in targets, receptions, receiving yards and first downs.

Hunter Henry, the talented tight end for the New England Patriots, is making waves in his ninth NFL season. The former Los Angeles Chargers player has been a key player for the Patriots since joining the team in the offseason.

Henry has been a reliable target for quarterback Mac Jones, racking up receptions and yards in each game. He has also been making history along the way, reaching several milestones in his impressive career.

In a recent game against the Buffalo Bills, Henry surpassed 5,000 career receiving yards, solidifying his status as one of the top tight ends in the league. He also notched his 400th career reception in the same game, a testament to his consistency and reliability on the field.

Henry’s contributions have been crucial to the Patriots’ success this season, and his veteran presence has been a valuable asset to the team. As he continues to make strides in his career, fans can expect even more impressive performances from this talented tight end.

Keep an eye on Hunter Henry as he continues to reach new milestones and make a name for himself in his ninth NFL season with the New England Patriots.

Cam Newton, former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback, recently made headlines when he revealed that he knew Travis Hunter would win the Heisman the moment he walked in. Hunter, a highly touted recruit and the number one player in the nation, shocked the college football world when he chose to attend Jackson State University over traditional powerhouses like Florida State and Georgia.

In a recent interview, Newton explained that he had the opportunity to meet Hunter during his recruitment process and was immediately struck by his talent, work ethic, and charisma. Newton stated, “I could just tell from the moment he walked in the room that this kid was special. He had that ‘it’ factor that you can’t teach or coach. I knew right then and there that he was destined for greatness.”

Many football fans and analysts were skeptical of Hunter’s decision to attend an FCS school like Jackson State, but Newton’s prediction seemed to have come true when Hunter had a breakout freshman season, leading the nation in receiving yards and touchdowns. His electrifying play on the field and humble demeanor off of it quickly made him a fan favorite and a Heisman frontrunner.

As the college football season comes to a close, all eyes will be on Travis Hunter as he looks to become the first player from an FCS school to win the prestigious Heisman Trophy. And if Cam Newton’s prediction is anything to go by, it seems like Hunter is well on his way to achieving that goal.

Cam Newton who won the Heisman Trophy fourteen years ago in 2010 revealed a very interesting insight about Travis Hunter winning the Heisman Trophy this year. He appeared on the 4th&1 podcast and revealed how he knew the college football star, Travis Hunter of the Colorado Buffaloes would be winning the Heisman Trophy this year, the moment he entered the venue. The reason behind this is the seating arrangement; he recalled the day he had won the Heisman Trophy in 2010 and he along with his family were sitting in the front row at the venue, just like Travis did this year.

Cam Newton Knew Travis Hunter Had Won The Heisman Trophy Even Before It Was Announced

Cam said, “I knew Travis won the Heisman by merely walking into the auditorium. When I seen his family on the front row, I already knew he won.” This is a very interesting detail into how such award shows are managed and how seats are preplanned as per the list of winners.
He also revealed some insights into how the Heisman Trophy’s management plans the seating arrangements from beforehand so that the winner is not lost in the crowd. Cam added, “With the camera angles, you don’t want people to be seen doing ‘Excuse me, Excuse me,’ on TV.”

Travis Hunter Has Received A Lot Of Hate

While the Heiman Trophy was a huge achievement for Travis, it was also the day that began a lot of negative things in his life. A video from the same event had gone viral where Travis; fiancee Leanna Lenee did not stand up as Travis was presented with the award. This attracted a lot of criticism against Leanna and many fans were convinced Leanna is with Travis only because he is rich and famous.
Both Travis and his fiancee Leanna have issued statements where they have spoken about their love and respect for each other but the fans do not seem to understand. The couple has received so much of hate that they are now forced to go off social media. Leanna has made her Instagram account private while Travis has deleted his Instagram.
While the couple has also received support from Travis’ teammates and his coach Deion Sanders, many have also slammed Travis for being too careless. As per them, Travis should not have been so open about his relationship on social media. Travis and Leanna were very public about their relationship and even had a YouTube channel called “Travis and Leanna” where they would share house tours, their wedding planning and a lot of things from their daily lives. Many feel this is the reason fans have invaded their privacy.
Travis is the top pick in the NFL Draft which is supposed to be held in April 2025. He will be getting married to his fiancee Leanna Lenee in May 2025.

Newton noted that Hunter’s remarkable talent and leadership qualities were undeniable, making him a clear favorite for the coveted Heisman award.

In addition to Hunter’s on-field prowess, Newton also pointed out that he had a gut feeling about the outcome of the award, based on his own experiences as a former Heisman Trophy winner. After the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall made a big change in their lives, moving from Arkansas to Kansas City. The couple switched states in order to continue training with their long-time coach Travis Geopfert, but have been enjoying the change of scenery.

In an interview with Southern Living, Davis-Woodhall revealed the couple would be hosting their family for Christmas in Kansas, saying:

“We are family-oriented people. We love being with our family and this year we’re actually Christmas at our house.”

In the same interview, Woodhall outlined why they enjoy Kansas, explaining:

“You see the sense of community. Everyone is on the same page. Seeing people around town that you know, having those conversations. Meaningful connections with anybody.”

Davis-Woodhall agreed with her husband, adding that the couple enjoyed the reprieve of a small town after their hectic schedules.

“I also think it’s like we have the option and ability to go live wherever we want to. We can go live in L.A. We can go live in New York. But we truly value life. We truly value the sense of well-being. Living in a Southern town or a small town helps with the outside world of what we deal with. We travel all the time so coming back to a community, coming back to a small town, it makes life a lot easier. It makes the quality of life just more.”
