  • Creighton Bluejays vs Connecticut Huskies Prediction, Odds and Picks

Creighton looks to keep things rolling and make it 3 in a row as it gets ready to take on #UConn this afternoon. The Bluejays are coming off an 84-64 win over Providence in which they shot 51.6% from the field and 43.8% from beyond the arc. UConn beat Georgetown 68-60 while shooting 46.4% from the field and 34.6% from deep. Creighton is 4-2 in conference play this season; UConn sits at 5-1. This is going to be an exciting matchup.

Creighton has played well in its last couple of games and currently averages 75.9 points per game while giving up 70.5. A big part of this Creighton offense is Ryan Kalkbrenner, who is averaging 17.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. As for UConn, it struggled to score in their last two games putting up only 68 against Georgetown and 66 against Villanova. UConn averages 81.9 points per game while giving up 68.1 points per game. UConn’s star, Alex Karaban, averages 16.1 ppg and 5.1 rpg, and need him to be on point in today’s matchup if it wants to win this game. Creighton has struggled on the road this season, but based on recent performances I think this team finally got things clicking to keep this game close. The Bluejays may not win the game, but they should be able to put up enough points to cover the spread — making them my best bet of the day.

Creighton vs UConn prediction: Creighton +8 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.

You can bet on our Creighton vs UConn pick with BetMGM, where right now new users can activate your new BetMGM account and get up to $1,500 in first-bet protection!

The Creighton Bluejays will face off against the Connecticut Huskies in a highly anticipated college basketball matchup. Both teams have had solid seasons so far, with Creighton boasting a 14-3 record and Connecticut holding a 10-6 record.

In terms of odds, Creighton is currently favored to win this game, with odds of -150 compared to Connecticut’s +130 odds. However, this game is expected to be a close one, with both teams having talented rosters and competitive spirits.

In terms of prediction, I believe that Creighton will come out on top in this matchup. They have a strong offense led by players such as Marcus Zegarowski and Damien Jefferson, and their ability to shoot the three-pointer could give them an edge in this game.

However, Connecticut is a formidable opponent with players like James Bouknight and R.J. Cole who can make big plays when it counts. It will be a close game, but I predict Creighton will ultimately pull out the win.

As for picks, I would recommend taking Creighton to win straight up and potentially taking the over on the total points scored, as both teams have the ability to put up big numbers on offense. It should be an exciting game to watch, so make sure to tune in and see how it all plays out.

  • Washington Huskies WR Giles Jackson’s presence should help passing attack in Sun Bowl

Washington Huskies WR Giles Jackson’s presence should help passing attack in Sun Bowl

As one of the most productive wide receivers in the Big Ten this season and one of the most reliable and consistent contributors on Washington’s offense, Giles Jackson plays a pretty important role for the Washington Huskies as they get prepped to face off against the Louisville Cardinals in the 2024 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.

Jackson, a seasoned wide receiver, has proven to be one of Washington’s most reliable pass catchers and he actually leads the team with a grand total of 74 receptions. He’s turned those 74 catches into 732 yards and three touchdowns.

And as the Huskies get set to face the Cardinals, Jackson is preparing to catch passes from a true freshman quarterback. In the final game of the 2024 Washington Husky football season, UW is turning to Demond Williams Jr. to lead the offense as Will Rogers wasn’t producing at a high level down the stretch of the season.

So, even though the bulk of Jackson’s receiving yards came via a connection with the aforementioned Rogers, the senior wide receiver will be hauling in passes from a much younger passer who will be making just his second collegiate start.

Washington Huskies WR Giles Jackson plays pivotal role for UW in Sun Bowl

The versatility, athleticism, reliability, and experience that Jackson brings to the table are all pretty dang important and should help the Huskies develop a passing attack as they face the Cardinals with such a young quarterback.

That’s not meant to take away from what Williams brings to the table. Fisch clearly believes he’s the best option for UW at quarterback (and there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that Rogers was no longer going to be effective in UW’s offense as it currently operates).

But there’s plenty of reason to believe that having a solid, seasoned receiver ready to catch passes in tight windows of coverage should help whoever it is that’s throwing the ball. Having a good receiver can only serve to make Williams better. And that matters. And it’s why Jackson plays a pretty important role in this offense in this game.

The Washington Huskies are gearing up to face off against the Miami Hurricanes in the Sun Bowl, and one player who could make a big impact on the passing attack is wide receiver Giles Jackson.

Jackson, a transfer from Michigan, has been a dynamic playmaker for the Huskies this season. He has shown the ability to stretch the field with his speed and has been a reliable target for quarterback Dylan Morris.

With Jackson in the lineup, the Huskies passing attack has the potential to be even more explosive in the Sun Bowl. His presence on the field forces defenses to account for his speed, opening up opportunities for other receivers and creating mismatches in the secondary.

In a game that could come down to big plays in the passing game, having a weapon like Giles Jackson could prove to be a difference-maker for the Huskies. Look for him to make a big impact and help lead Washington to victory in the Sun Bowl.

  • Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl What To Watch For: Washington Huskies

Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl What To Watch For: Washington Huskies

WE’RE GOING TO SEE A HEAVY DOSE OF ISAAC BROWN AND DUKE WATSON

Louisville enters the bowl game with their starting quarterback and top receiver headed for the draft. That leaves the Cards with Harrison Bailey as their starter at quarterback and a group of receivers who will have to make the most of every opportunity they get against a strong Washington secondary. The Cards also have to deal with the fact that the Huskies will have a different plan with Bailey under center.

This is why I think we’ll see a lot of handoffs for UofL’s dynamic duo at running back. Isaac Brown is racking up accolades each day now and Watson is the national leader in yards per carry coming into the game. Both players have shown that they can break a big run at any moment but I think they’re ability to run hard and get behind their pads will be just as important. The Huskies have not been good against the run this year and UofL will have to exploit that as best they can with a suspect passing game.

WASHINGTON WILL FORCE LOUISVILLE DEFENDERS TO TACKLE IN SPACE

A good amount of teams have odd statistical profiles or show certain issues on film but Washington somehow has both. When you watch the Huskies, you don’t see a six-win team when it comes to their talent or how hard they play. When you look at their stats, you can’t help but wonder how they even got to six wins. They just are not exceptional at anything. However, they are efficient on offense.

Their passing game is built on quick and intermediate passes and they complete a ton of passes. The Huskies are third in the country in completion percentage and that number didn’t drop off when they switched quarterbacks. They get the ball to their playmakers but they have not been able to do much to create big plays. That would change if UofL doesn’t do a good job of tackling.

LOUISVILLE WILL USE TRICK PLAYS AND MISDIRECTION IN THE PASSING GAME

I think that Jeff Brohm will come into this game knowing that he has to be creative to avoid being one-dimensional on offense. While Harrison Bailey has looked good in limited time, he’s going to be facing the best pass defense UofL has seen this year. The Huskies don’t rush the passer well but they have not allowed a 300-yard passer this season. They also haven’t allowed teams to throw more than two touchdowns in a game.

Brohm will utilize jet sweeps more in this game than he did during the season. Caullin Lacy is back in action and getting him into space with the ball in his hands is a smart move. I also think we’ll see the tight ends getting more action as well. Tight end leaks and throwbacks will be an option with Washington likely focusing on the run. Running back screens could also be useful to get the best guys into the open field.

SPECIAL TEAMS WILL PLAY A FACTOR IN THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME

Washington and the Cards have a similar problem as they both have inconsistent kickers. However, the Huskies have a bigger issue to worry about as they have been susceptible to big returns on punts and kicks. Louisville would do well to have a sound strategy for both situations with Ja’Corey Brooks opting out. Lacy may be an option on punt returns but I do wonder if they avoid using Isaac Brown for kicks.

UofL has also done well with blocking kicks this season. They lead the nation in that statistic and Washington has not been very good at avoiding having their kicks blocked. They have allowed four on the season and even though the portal hasn’t been too rough on the Huskies, they’ll likely have a few guys on special teams that haven’t been out there much this season. The Cards should draw up some block attempts on punts and kicks.

The Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl is just around the corner, and one of the teams to keep an eye on is the Washington Huskies. Here are a few things to watch for during their matchup:

    1. Quarterback play: The Huskies have had some inconsistency at the quarterback position this season, with Dylan Morris and Sam Huard both seeing playing time. Keep an eye on who gets the start and how they perform under pressure in this bowl game.

    2. Running back duo: Washington has a dynamic duo in the backfield with Sean McGrew and Kamari Pleasant. Both have shown the ability to break big runs and make plays in the passing game. Watch for them to make an impact in the Sun Bowl.

    3. Defensive standouts: The Huskies defense has been solid all season, led by standout players like Zion Tupuola-Fetui and Kyler Gordon. Look for them to disrupt the opposing offense and make key plays to help secure a win for Washington.

    4. Coaching adjustments: Head coach Jimmy Lake will need to make some strategic adjustments to counteract their opponent’s strengths and weaknesses. Keep an eye on how he adapts his game plan throughout the game.

Overall, the Washington Huskies are a talented team with the potential to make a statement in the Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl. Be sure to tune in and watch as they battle it out on the field.

  • WOOF: Washington Huskies Land Former 5-Star WR from Texas

WOOF: Washington Huskies Land Former 5-Star WR from Texas

Washington has added a portal WR after landing a commitment from Texas WR transfer Johntay Cook II today, who chose the Huskies over Florida.

Cook is from DeSoto, TX and played at DeSoto HS which has produced many talented players over the years including Von Miller and the Seahawks 2024 first round draft pick, Byron Murphy II. Cook had a monster senior year in HS with 85 catches, 1530 yards, and 22 TDs which earned him a five star ranking before signing with the Longhorns.

Despite the talented and deep WR room at Texas, Cook still saw the field as a true freshman and had 8 catches for 136 yards. He appeared primed for a more productive year, but had nearly the same stats with 8 catches, 137 yards, and 2 TDs due to a toe injury that would linger for most of the season. After being injured and falling down the depth chart as a result, Cook announced he would be entering the portal and using his redshirt to help preserve eligibility. He will have 3 years to play 3.

For those waiting for UW to make a splash in the portal, Cook is it. A former five star play maker who is regarded as a high four star transfer prospect and will likely be an impact starter right away. While he may not have accumulated a lot of yards so far in his collegiate career, he brings two things that Husky fans should be very excited by; explosiveness and versatility. The explosiveness speaks for itself with his 17.1 YPC average, but in addition to the stats, watching him play he accelerates extremely well and is able to hit his top end speed faster than most players. With that kind of ability, he has the ability to excel catching screens, quick crosses, and post routes which are all plays that Fisch likes to call frequently.

As I mentioned, Cook should be penciled in as a starting WR for the 2025 season to pair with Denzel Boston. Cook is also quick and fast enough to play out of the slot in certain situations and Rashid Williams could join the pair to be a fearsome starting trio of WRs. He is at his best with the ball in his hand and has high end play making ability using his speed and making defenders miss in open space.

The Washington Huskies have just secured a major recruiting victory by landing former 5-star wide receiver from Texas, showcasing their continued prowess in attracting top talent to their program.

This highly anticipated addition to the Huskies’ roster brings with him a wealth of talent and potential, adding depth and skill to an already formidable receiving corps. His commitment to the program is a testament to the coaching staff’s ability to attract elite players and develop them into stars on the field.

With this latest addition, the Huskies are poised to make a big impact in the upcoming season and beyond. Fans can expect to see some impressive plays and highlight-reel moments from this standout recruit as he suits up in the purple and gold.

Stay tuned for more updates on how this talented newcomer will make his mark on the Washington Huskies football program. WOOF! #GoHuskies #PurpleReign

  • Ex Texas Longhorns 5-Star Johntay Cook Commits to Washington Huskies

Ex Texas Longhorns 5-Star Johntay Cook Commits to Washington Huskies

Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Johntay Cook has found his next home.

And it is with a familiar foe.

According to reports from On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Cook has committed to the Washington Huskies, picking the Big Ten team over pursuit from Florida.

The Longhorns, of course, fell to the Huskies in the 2023 College Football Playoff semi-finals, coming up just short of a national title appearance as a result.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound speedster had originally been predicted to stay in the SEC and sign with the Florida Gators. That said, with the Huskies, he should have a tremendous opportunity to be the No. 1 receiver in the program.

Cook II, a five-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, had just eight catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns this season. He had three catches for 35 yards and two scores in the win over UTSA on Sept. 14.

There was an expectation entering the 2024 season that Cook II would see an increased role after minimal usage as a freshman but has instead become buried on a depth chart that features Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, DeAndre Moore Jr., Silas Bolden, and true freshman standout Ryan Wingo.

Cook ranked as the No. 31 player in the nation, No. 3 wide receiver and No. 5 player in the state of Texas for his class. As a transfer, he ranks as the No. 44 player available in the portal and the No. 14 wide receiver.

Cook ends his Longhorns career with just 16 catches for 273 yards and two touchdowns across two seasons.

The Washington Huskies football program has scored a major recruiting win with the commitment of former Texas Longhorns 5-star recruit Johntay Cook. Cook, a highly touted defensive back, announced his decision to join the Huskies in a post on social media, citing the program’s strong coaching staff, winning tradition, and academic reputation as key factors in his decision.

Cook, who was considered one of the top recruits in the nation coming out of high school, brings a wealth of talent and potential to the Huskies’ secondary. His combination of size, speed, and athleticism make him a valuable addition to a defense that is looking to reload and compete for a conference championship.

Washington fans are sure to be excited about the addition of Cook to their roster, as he has the potential to make an immediate impact and help the team compete at the highest level. With his commitment, the Huskies have added another elite player to their already impressive recruiting class, solidifying their status as a program on the rise.
