  • Hà Nội hủy trình diễn drone hỏa thuật trong đêm giao thừa

Chương trình nghệ thuật “Rực rỡ Thăng Long 2025” là sự kiện văn hóa do UBND quận Nam Từ Liêm, Hà Nội tổ chức phục vụ người dân Thủ đô đón chào năm mới Ất Tỵ 2025.

  • Let Ke Huy Quan Play a Villain if He Wants To

Playing against type doesn’t always work. Some actors cannot be separated from the people they are or the kinds of roles they play. That’s why Jared Leto exclusively plays creeps. Every Arnold Schwarzenegger character is from Austria, even if he says otherwise. Dwayne The Rock Johnson cannot play anyone with fewer than fifteen shirt pockets. Those are the rules, but they are made to be broken. Plenty of actors have played against type with phenomenal results.

Dave Bautista has practically made a career out of playing against type. The big strong man has played… big strong men, but some have been softer or subtler, not relying on their strength. Leslie Nielsen had a full career of “normal” performances before he switched to comedy and had a resurgence. Liam Neeson has been taking a similar path, so it makes sense that he would be starring in a remake of Nielsen’s most memorable film (no, not Dracula Dead And Loving It but I would watch that). So, if Ke Huy Quan wants to play against type, give the man a chance!

Quan was a child star who appeared in films like The Goonies and Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom. Then, his onscreen career dried up, but not by his choosing. He remained in the industry, choreographing stunts and fights for various productions and working behind the scenes in other capacities. However, Quan was cast as a lead character in Everything Everywhere All At Once, won an Oscar for his performance, and is back on the big screen, baby!

Quan’s acting career has now found a second life. He appeared in the second season of Loki, will star in the upcoming action-comedy Love Hurts, and doesn’t plan on stopping there. However, he has some ideas about how he wants this next chapter to play out. “I would love to play a bad guy. Like a Bond villain. Or the kind of thing Hugh Grant does in Heretic,” the actor recently explained to Empire. “I want to go out of my comfort zone and just play this diabolical, really bad guy. That would be a lot of fun.” Yes, please!

Ke Huy Quan has not only played mostly nice guys, but they are often meek and, dare I say, mousey. He is a skilled martial artist and can believably lay the smackdown on unsuspecting fools, but his lovely smile and big heart are always at the forefront and have been for decades. A sinister threat coming from Quan’s charming demeanor (or seeing him shed that demeanor altogether) would be very special and particularly menacing. And, he may want something less action-heavy as well.

“I don’t want to be perceived as an action star,” Quan noted. “I hope I’m perceived as an actor who does action well. So I’m going to take it one step at a time. The best part about being an actor is, you get to play a variety of different characters. I love [Loki’s] Ouroboros because he’s so different than [Everything Everywhere All At Once’s] Waymond, and Waymond is so different than [Love Hurts’] Marvin Gable.” I want everything (everywhere all at once) for Quan that he wants. If he wants to play a menacing villain who barely lifts a finger, let him! It’ll be scary as hell!

Let Ke Huy Quan Play a Villain if He Wants To

Ke Huy Quan, known for his iconic roles in films like “The Goonies” and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” has proven himself to be a versatile and talented actor. While he is often remembered for his lovable and heroic characters, it would be intriguing to see him take on the role of a villain.

Quan has the charisma and acting chops to convincingly portray a villainous character. His ability to bring depth and complexity to his performances would make him a compelling and memorable villain on screen.

It’s important for actors to have the opportunity to explore different types of roles and challenge themselves creatively. If Ke Huy Quan is interested in playing a villain, it would be exciting to see how he would bring his own unique twist to the character.

So, let’s not limit Ke Huy Quan to just playing the hero. Let’s give him the chance to showcase his range and talent by taking on the role of a villain if he so desires. Who knows, he might just surprise us all with a performance that is truly unforgettable.

  • ‘Loki’ Star Ke Huy Quan Says He Wants to Play Bond Villain: “I want to go out of my comfort zone and just play this diabolical, really bad guy”

Ke Huy Quan gained fame as a child actor in ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ and ‘The Goonies’ but took a 19-year break from acting to work behind the scenes. He returned with ‘Finding ʻOhana’ (2021) and earned an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ (2022), becoming the first Vietnam-born actor to win an Oscar.

In 2023, he was named one of Time’s 100 most influential people, and for our readers most importantly, he starred as Ouroboros aka Ob in the second season of ‘Loki.’ Fans liked his role and while we are wondering whether he will reprise his role in the future of the MCU, Quan revealed he has different aspirations.

Ke Huy Quan revealed in an interview with Empire that he wants to step out of his usual roles and try playing a villain, like a Bond villain or a character similar to Hugh Grant’s in ‘Heretic.

Ke Huy Quan, best known for his roles in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and “The Goonies,” is ready to take on a new challenge. The actor, who is set to appear in the upcoming Disney+ series “Loki,” recently expressed his desire to play a Bond villain.

In a recent interview, Quan shared his excitement about the possibility of stepping into the iconic role of a Bond villain. “I’ve always been a fan of the James Bond movies, and I think playing a villain in one of those films would be an incredible opportunity,” he said. “I want to go out of my comfort zone and just play this diabolical, really bad guy.”

Quan’s desire to play a villain in a Bond film comes as no surprise, as he has proven his versatility as an actor time and time again. From his comedic roles in “The Goonies” to his action-packed performances in the “Indiana Jones” movies, Quan has shown that he has the range to tackle any role that comes his way.

Fans of Quan will no doubt be excited to see him take on the challenge of playing a Bond villain. With his talent and charisma, there’s no doubt that he would bring a unique and memorable twist to the iconic role. Let’s hope that Quan’s dream of playing a Bond villain becomes a reality in the near future.

  • Ke Huy Quan Wants To Play A ‘Diabolical, Really Bad Guy’

You’d be hard-pressed to find a star who radiates as much positive energy as Ke Huy Quan – from his ebullient young performances in The Goonies and Temple Of Doom, to his heart-swelling Oscar-winning turn in Everything Everywhere All At Once, to his affable performance in Loki Season 2. But beyond his impending fight-fuelled action-comedy Love Hurts, Quan has a desire to play against type. Yes, the friendliest man in Hollywood wants to see if being bad really does feel pretty good.

“I would love to play a bad guy. Like a Bond villain,” Quan tells Empire in a major new interview in the 28 Years Later issue. “Or the kind of thing Hugh Grant does in Heretic.” The worse he can go, the better. “I want to go out of my comfort zone and just play this diabolical, really bad guy,” he laughs. “That would be a lot of fun.” Someone get him a fluffy white Blofeld cat, stat.

For Quan, as he moves beyond his Oscar-winning comeback as Waymond in Daniels’ multiversal masterpiece, he plans to keep showing all the different shades and colours that that film was able to showcase. While Love Hurts will display his mastery of martial arts (for years, Quan worked behind-the-scenes on action choreography, including on 2000’s X-Men), he wants to keep showing more. “I don’t want to be perceived as an action star,” he explains. “I hope I’m perceived as an actor who does action well. So I’m going to take it one step at a time. The best part about being an actor is, you get to play a variety of different characters. I love [Loki’s] Ouroboros because he’s so different than [EEAAO’s] Waymond, and Waymond is so different than [Love Hurts’] Marvin Gable.” Let the cinematic multiverse unfold.

  • Ke Huy Quan Wants To Get Out Of His Comfort Zone & Play A Very Specific Type Of Role

Ke Huy Quan reveals a different type of character he wants to play. Quan made his film debut as Short Round in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. His child stardom continued the following year with the role of Data in The Goonies. His early success did not lead to many opportunities in the following years, which resulted in a 19-year break from acting. That changed with Ke Huy Quan’s best movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once, as he won an Academy Award for his performance and went on to be cast in many projects.

While speaking with Empire magazine about his career and his upcoming action comedy film, Love Hurts, Quan shared that he wants to play a villain. He discussed how he would specifically like to play a diabolical James Bond villain. Using Hugh Grant’s performance in Heretic as a reference, Quan also explained how he would like to step out of his comfort zone and play an antagonistic character. Check out Quan’s comments below:

I would love to play a bad guy. Like a Bond villain. Or the kind of thing Hugh Grant does in Heretic. I want to go out of my comfort zone and just play this diabolical, really bad guy. That would be a lot of fun.

What This Means For Ke Huy Quan

Playing A Villain Would Be The Perfect Next Step In His Career

The resurgence of Quan’s career has been one of the entertainment industry’s best stories in recent years. Everything Everywhere All at Once is already one of the best movies of the 2020s, largely due to Quan’s performance, and he steals the show in Loki season 2, American Born Chinese, and every recent project he has starred in. Quan no longer has to feel as if he is settling for a role as he now has many opportunities and can continue expanding his repertoire.

It would be exciting to see him play a villainous role in the future. While a movie or television series could announce in advance that Quan has been cast as a villain, it could also be rewarding to see him play a surprise antagonist. With audiences used to seeing him play heroic and likable characters, it could be genuinely surprising to see him be a villain, especially if this is concealed during the marketing and throughout much of the story.

He Should Be Part Of The James Bond Franchise’s Next Era

It would be fun to see Quan play any type of villain, but his comments make me particularly eager to see him as a James Bond villain. With the franchise in the process of rebooting itself after Daniel Craig’s exit, it is the perfect opportunity to cast Quan as a villain who will help launch the franchise’s next era. Ke Huy Quan getting more roles is wonderful, and a next great step will be him getting cast in more parts that are distinct from what he has already done.

  • Ke Huy Quan Wants To Play “A Bad Guy” Next

With an unprecedented onscreen comeback under his belt, Ke Huy Quan has one dream role he hopes to get to soon.

The Oscar winner recently revealed he wants “to play a bad guy,” using the 007 franchise and Hugh Grant’s recent performance in Heretic as inspirations for the type of villainous role he’s manifesting.

“I would love to play a bad guy. Like a Bond villain. Or the kind of thing Hugh Grant does in Heretic,” he told Empire, adding: “I want to go out of my comfort zone and just play this diabolical, really bad guy. That would be a lot of fun.”

Quan also explained that he’d like to venture beyond the genre after years of choreographing stunts and fights for films like X-Men (2000) and The One (2001).

“I don’t want to be perceived as an action star,” said Quan. “I hope I’m perceived as an actor who does action well. So I’m going to take it one step at a time. The best part about being an actor is, you get to play a variety of different characters. I love [Loki‘s] Ouroboros because he’s so different than [EEAAO‘s] Waymond, and Waymond is so different than [Love Hurts‘] Marvin Gable.”

Following his Oscar and Golden Globe-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), Quan can next be seen as retired hitman-turned-realtor Marvin Gable in the Jonathan Eusebio-helmed Universal action thriller Love Hurts, premiering Feb. 7.

Quan has also been cast in the upcoming Lionsgate action thriller Fairytale in New York, from director Jalmari Helander, which stars the actor as an unassuming cab driver who goes after a gang of criminals on Christmas Eve to retrieve his children’s stolen Christmas presents.

Ke Huy Quan, known for his roles in iconic films such as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies, has expressed interest in playing a different kind of role for his next project. The talented actor, who has typically portrayed lovable and heroic characters, has stated that he wants to take on the challenge of playing a “bad guy” in a future film.

Quan’s desire to explore a darker, more complex character comes as no surprise to his fans, as he has proven time and time again that he is a versatile actor capable of taking on a wide range of roles. With his impressive acting abilities and charismatic on-screen presence, there is no doubt that Quan would bring depth and nuance to any villainous character he portrays.
