  • Charli xcx to Star in A24 Movie ‘The Moment,’ Based on Original Idea


    Charli xcx is teaming up with A24 to produce and star in a new movie called “The Moment,” based on her own original idea.

    The “Brat” pop star will produce the film as the first project under her new production company, Studio365. Plot details are kept under wraps.

    “The Moment” is the feature directorial debut of Scottish photographer and filmmaker Aidan Zamiri, who wrote the screenplay with Bertie Brandes. Charli’s longtime collaborator A. G. Cook, a producer whose fingerprints are all over “Brat,” will compose the score.

    David Hinojosa is also producing “The Moment” via his production banner 2AM. Brandon Creed, Mikey Schwartz-Wright and Zach Nutman will serve as executive producers. A24 is handling the global release of the film.

    The announcement comes just hours after Charli led the Brit Awards nominations with five nods, for artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year and dance and pop act. It’s also the latest film project in a string of Hollywood moves from the pop star. She stars in Daniel Goldhaber’s “Faces of Death” remake, Romain Gavras’ adventure comedy “Sacrifice” and Pete Ohs’ “Erupcja.” She’s in Julia Jackman’s “100 Nights of Hero” alongside Nicholas Galitzine, Emma Corin and Maika Monroe, and she has a guest role in Benito Skinner’s comedy series “Overcompensating.” She’ll also be seen in Gregg Araki’s “I Want Your Sex” opposite Olivia Wilde, Mason Gooding and Cooper Hoffman, and Cathy Yan’s “The Gallerist” led by Jenna Ortega, Natalie Portman and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

    Charli recently showed off her acting chops on “Saturday Night Live,” where she pulled double duty as both host and musical guest. And she spoke with Variety in December about her pivot toward a new type of performing.

    “I hate it when musicians dive into a different field, head-first, without really researching or learning much of anything about it,” she said. “So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything.”

    After starting the season with a struggle, the Denver Nuggets were centered around a plethora of trade talks. Much of those talks were focused on trading Michael Porter Jr. for a high-profile scorer, such as Zach LaVine.

    The trade actually solves a multitude of problems for the Nuggets. Kuzma’s contract is nowhere near as expensive as Porter’s, and while Kuzma isn’t as great of a three-point shooter, he could still fit into the Nuggets’ offense seamlessly. The team has also really needed a better backup center with Dario Saric not necessarily panning out as planned, and Valanciunas would be the perfect option for Denver.

    The biggest issue for Denver in trading away Porter is getting rid of the continuity and chemistry of the starting five lineup. This is a team that just won an NBA championship two seasons ago, was second in the Western Conference last season, and was one game away from the Conference Finals last season.

    While the Nuggets started the season struggling, it’s hard to justify the team making a major move to its starting lineup now that they’re the fourth seed and only 2.5 games away from the second seed.

  • Tesla stock remains Piper Sandler’s ‘#1 buy-and-hold idea’ By Investing.com


    Investing.com — Tesla continues to be Piper Sandler’s “#1 buy-and-hold idea,” as the firm raised its price target for the stock from $315 to $500. 

    The firm’s analysts believe investors are beginning to appreciate Tesla (NASDAQ:)’s potential in “real-world A.I.,” which is driving portfolio managers to consider upside scenarios more seriously.

    In their recent note, Piper Sandler said it curated over a dozen Tesla-specific datasets. 

    Despite uncertainties surrounding near-term financials, particularly vehicle deliveries and automotive gross margins, the long-term outlook is said to remain promising.

    “We expect Tesla to deliver 1.96M units in 2025 (vs. 1.79M in 2024), but we expect >100k incremental units to come from unknown vehicles, and another 70k incremental units from Cybertruck,” noted Piper Sandler. 

    However, they caution that this forecast is uncertain and potential downside may not become evident until later updates.

    On the gross margin front, Piper Sandler maintains a more positive outlook, expecting solid post-quarter performance as long as Tesla stays on track with new product launches.

    Looking ahead, Piper Sandler adjusted its long-term delivery expectations, now predicting Tesla will max out at around 4.6 million units per year by 2032. 

    The focus, they believe, will shift from launching new cars to popularizing full self-driving (FSD) software. 

    “We are now modeling a contribution from FSD licensing,” the analysts stated, with Tesla’s existing businesses valued at just below $300 per share, inclusive of FSD.

    For valuation, Piper Sandler is transitioning to a P/E-based methodology, with their $500 price target based on 120x FY26E EPS. 

    They anticipate that within a year, investors will gain greater clarity on Tesla’s product cadence, allowing a focus on more ambitious topics like FSD efficacy and Tesla’s broader A.I. ambitions.

    Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie is ready to officially inherit the mantle of Captain America from his friend and former costar Chris Evans.     Coincidentally, the real-life story of Mackie discovering he would be the new Captain America involved Evans passing the torch. Speaking with Fandango as part of their Big Ticket interview series, Mackie told the memorable story of how Evans delivered the life-changing news, which made both stars jump “around in a circle high-fiving like two 12 year-olds that just met Mickey Mouse.” According to the actor, Evan dropped the news while filming in Atlanta.

    Mackie went into further detail, stating:

    “It was a bunch of us at his house–he had this crazy house–sitting there watching a game, shooting the sh*t. […] So he goes, ‘have you read the new script?’ I said, ‘ nah.’ […] And he was like ‘you don’t know?’ And you know, being black, I’m like ‘I’mma die, damn. They’re getting rid of me, man. I don’t even cause no trouble. He’s like, ‘because you’re f**king Captain America.’ […] We hug, we jump up and down… It was hilarious.”

    Because of Evans, Mackie “knew [he] could handle” playing Captain America. As such, the actor says he “couldn’t imagine finding out any other way.”
