    Contra Costa Health issued a health advisory for parts of Martinez and Pacheco on Saturday due to a reported incident at the Martinez Refining Company.

    Officials said that the Martinez Refining Company reported a fire at 1:47 p.m. They added that the incident could affect individuals with respiratory sensitivities but said that most people will not be affected.

    “Eye, skin, nose, or throat irritation may be possible for some people in the affected area. If people experience any irritation, advise them to go inside and rinse any irritated area of their body with water,” officials said in a statement on social media.

    Contra Costa Health officials added that their hazmat team is responding to the incident.

  • Seattle mom arrested after ‘domestic violence’ incident leaves 14-year-old son dead


    SEATTLE — Seattle police arrested a 29-year-old mother for investigation of homicide after her 14-year-old died following a reported domestic violence incident Thursday afternoon.

    Police said at around 2:17 p.m., officers responded to a “domestic violence altercation” in the 4000 block of 14th Avenue South involving a mother and her unresponsive teenage son.

    According to police, when officers arrived, they found the 14-year-old son suffering from multiple injuries. The Seattle Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after and provided medical aid, police said.

    “The boy was transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in critical condition. Despite all life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at HMC,” wrote Seattle police in a media release. “The victim’s 29-year-old mother was arrested for Investigation of Homicide and booked into King County Jail.”

    Officers proceeded to cordon off the residence, and detectives with homicide, crime scene investigation, and special assault units arrived and processed the scene.

    Detectives with the Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Unit have been assigned to this case, according to Seattle police.

    Meek and Ak’s tension date back to 2017 when, according to Akademiks, Meek took issue with him not promoting Meek’s Wins & Losses album on his platform. “Meek, he didn’t appreciate I didn’t post his album,” he explained on a 2017 episode of Everyday Struggle. “However, it was really confusing to me ’cause about six months ago, Meek had sent me a DM. Him and the rest of the ‘Chasers, they gave me a little digital jump and a light one. They said, ‘Listen, either post us this way or don’t post us at all.’”

    Ak went on to say that Meek and his Chasers crew later threatened him, resulting in him refusing to post Meek at all. “Next thing I’m seeing, they were threatening me,” Ak said at the time. “‘When I see him, I’ma gonna give him a wedgie, I’ma slap him.’ I’m like, ‘Oh shit! I think I’m posting them wrong.’ So, I stopped posting them.”

    Meek later attempted to get Ak cancelled in June of 2020, tweeting that the streamer is responsible for gassing up beefs that resulted in a loss of life.

    “Akademiks canceled because he’s a bad police and our culture don’t need them… he also gassed a lot of beef that got people killed and hurt and never donated a dollar to the culture! We gon holla at you next run champ lol.”

    Six months later, Meek and Ak went head-to-head on the Clubhouse app, exchanging harsh words until 21 Savage began to mediate the out-of-control conversation. The pair have continued to go back-and-forth since, with no sign of resolution in sight.

For me, obviously, I got to watch my speech. That’s clear. […] Definitely a regrettable moment, and we’re going to use it as a teachable moment. Because I don’t think I’ve came this far, built this platform, to be that irresponsible, right?”

    LANGLEY — A teenager is facing several charges, including assaulting a police officer, after some Friday night mayhem at an illegal racing event.

    On January 24, just after 11 p.m., Langley RCMP responded to a motor vehicle incident complaint near Gloucester Way. An officer who arrived on scene said there were roughly 200 young people in the area who participated in street racing and stunting.

    The crowd became unruly while the officer issued several traffic violation tickets and worked to get a vehicle towed.

    According to an RCMP release, when the officer radioed for back-up, a 16-year-old male “interfered with the officer’s investigation during the lawful execution of his duties” and “rushed at police” even after multiple instructions to stand down. A conducted energy weapon, or a taser, was deployed afterwards.



    In a recent incident in Langley, a youth was arrested for obstructing police during a street racing incident. The incident occurred on [date] when police were called to [location] after receiving reports of street racing in the area.

    When officers arrived at the scene, they found a group of young people engaged in illegal street racing. Despite multiple warnings to disperse, the youth refused to comply and instead obstructed police officers in their attempt to break up the gathering.

  • Woman who died in Donegal after injuries from road incident named locally


    A woman killed following a tragic road incident in Buncrana, Co Donegal has been named locally as Rose Byrne.

    Mrs Byrne, who was in her 80s and from Mill Brae in the town, died following a collision between a car and two pedestrians on Tuesday afternoon last.

    Ms Byrne was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital after the collision but sadly passed away there on Sunday.

    It is understood Mrs Byrne (nee Gallagher) was with a family member when the tragedy occurred at Lower Main Street in Buncrana.

    Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to the tragedy to come forward.

    Road users who were travelling on Main Street, Buncrana, between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, 14th January 2025, are urged to contact Gardaí if they have any information or dash-cam footage.

    The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

    The late Mrs Byrne was the wife of Thomas Byrne and much loved mother of John, Valerie, Stella, Dermot and Emer.

    Mrs Byrne’s son Dermot is a well-known musician and has played with a number of well-known artists including the popular traditional band Altan, Sharon Shannon and The Stunning.

    Mrs Byrne was predeceased by her loving son Thomas and brothers Jim and Joe Gallagher.

    Her death is deeply regretted and she will be forever missed by her loving husband, sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her wider family circle, friends and neighbours.

    Her funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed.
