Royce O’Neale Injury: Leaves game due to ankle injury

O’Neale went to the locker room late in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against the Warriors due to a left ankle injury, Amanda Pflugrad of 3TV Phoenix reports.

O’Neale rolled his left ankle late in the first half, but he was able to limp to the locker room under his own power. Josh Okogie and Oso Ighodaro would be in line for more minutes in the second half of Saturday’s game if O’Neale is unable to return.

Jalen Johnson’s injury & 2 other X-factors as Hawks visit Nuggets

The Atlanta Hawks have done well to navigate their injury issues this season, but they seem to be walking a fine line once again.

On the bright side, the Hawks could be poised to get Dyson Daniels back in the mix, with Locked On Hawks host Brad Rowland reporting the guard is “probable” for tonight’s game along with Trae Young.

Bogdan Bogdanovic is “doubtful,” which is an improvement but still leaves him less than likely.

Jalen Johnson was also added to the report late with a shoulder injury, per Rowland, who also noted the unfortunate timing of the injury.

Hawks could be without Jalen Johnson vs Nuggets

“Denver is a terrible matchup to be without Jalen Johnson,” Rowland posted on X on January 1. “Hawks got blasted without him in the game in Atlanta and they badly need his rebounding and secondary rim protection against Jokic.”

Johnson missed the first matchup with the same injury, playing with a wrap on his shoulder and then appearing on the injury report the day before the game. The Hawks won the only other game Johnson has missed in 2024 (with a leg injury), beating the Sacramento Kings.

That 30-point loss to Denver on December 8 is the widest margin of defeat for the Hawks this season.

Johnson is averaging 19.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 5.4 assists.

He is shooting 50.9% from the floor and over 74% from the free throw line. And while he has not shot the three-ball particularly well at just 33.1%, he is liable to connect at any moment and does so many other things that you live through the lulls.

Johnson has the highest on-off differential on the Hawks, per Cleaning The Glass. Making matters worse, the Hawks are also without Larry Nance Jr. due to a hand injury.

Who plays PF?

Without Johnson or Nance, the Hawks have but so many viable options for replacements at power forward. The immediate answer would seem to be Onyeka Okongwu, who has expanded his range and has seen some time there before.

But without Cody Zeller, who remains away from the team, and Nance out, there are no other backups behind Clint Capela.

The Hawks could insert De’Andre Hunter into the starting lineup at the 4.

He has been so effective off the bench, though, and removing him would undoubtedly adversely affect the second unit. The Hawks could keep him on the bench and bring Vit Krecji or even Garrison Mathew into the starting five.

They could slide rookie No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher to the other forward spot to accommodate such a decision.

The Hawks could also turn to reserve David Roddy, who stuffs the stat sheet when he plays.

Dyson Daniels’ return is critical

Daniels’ potential return to action on Wednesday night is not exactly a surprise. Young suggested there was hope Daniels would rejoin the team in the midst of their six-game road trip following the win over the Toronto Raptors.

Daniels’ on-off differential does not properly reflect just how he positively impacts the Hawks when he is on the floor.

But it is clear to anyone who watches. Getting him big would be big, timely boost.

The Atlanta Hawks are set to face off against the Denver Nuggets in a highly anticipated matchup, but they will be without one of their key players. Jalen Johnson, the promising rookie forward, will be sidelined with an injury, leaving a void in the Hawks’ lineup.

However, there are two other X-factors that could potentially turn the tide in favor of the Hawks in this game. The first X-factor is Trae Young, the dynamic point guard who can single-handedly take over a game with his scoring and playmaking abilities. Young will need to step up in Johnson’s absence and lead the Hawks to victory.

The second X-factor is the Hawks’ bench depth. With Johnson out, other players will need to step up and contribute off the bench. Players like Kevin Huerter, Danilo Gallinari, and Delon Wright will need to provide a spark and make an impact on both ends of the floor.

As the Hawks visit the Nuggets, they will need to rely on these X-factors to overcome the adversity of Johnson’s injury and come out with a win. It will be a challenging test for Atlanta, but with the right adjustments and contributions from key players, they have the potential to pull off an upset against a tough Denver team.

Lakers Injury Report: Anthony Davis, LeBron James probable vs. Hawks

After missing Thursday’s game against the Blazers, Anthony Davis looks set to rejoin the lineup on Friday. The Lakers’ injury report ahead of their showdown with the Hawks on the second night of a back-to-back lists AD as probable with his left ankle sprain.

LeBron James, who played on Thursday and was not on the injury report, is listed as probable with left foot injury management.

Notably, Gabe Vincent is listed as out with a left oblique strain. Previously, Gabe had not been ruled out on the injury report.

Prior to Thursday’s game, head coach JJ Redick said Gabe was still considered day-to-day but was “still dealing with some pain” from their injury sustained against the Kings.

Gabe’s absence is a bit more easily absorbed with the arrival of Shake Milton, even he has been inconsistent in his minutes.

As for AD, seeing where the Lakers go with their big men depth will be interesting. While they’ve used more small ball lineups, when AD sat on Thursday, the Lakers used a healthy amount of Jaxson Hayes and Christian Koloko.

It’s maybe a bit surprising to see LeBron listed as probable, too. Against the Blazers, LeBron exerted a whole lot of energy to help the Lakers secure the win. It certainly wouldn’t have been a surprise to see him rest and AD play on Friday.

That being said, LeBron did play on both sides of the team’s last back-to-back in Utah and in Minnesota. This is an important stretch of the season for the Lakers, specifically with this being the final contest of their four-game homestand and perhaps that also played into LeBron’s availability for this one.

Either way, the Lakers are going to need both AD and LeBron and more in this game given how their last game against the Hawks played out.

The Los Angeles Lakers have provided an injury report ahead of their matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, with stars Anthony Davis and LeBron James listed as probable.

Davis has been dealing with a knee injury but is expected to suit up for the game. The Lakers will certainly need his presence on both ends of the court to secure a victory.

Meanwhile, James has been nursing an ankle injury but is also likely to play against the Hawks. His playmaking abilities and scoring touch will be crucial for the Lakers’ success.

Having both Davis and James available will be a huge boost for the Lakers as they look to continue their winning ways. Stay tuned for updates on their status leading up to game time.

Memphis Grizzlies provide Ja Morant injury update, timeline for return

The Memphis Grizzlies have provided an injury update on star point guard Ja Morant, who suffered a knee injury in a recent game. According to team officials, Morant has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain of his left knee and is expected to be out for the next 4-6 weeks.

This news comes as a blow to the Grizzlies, who have been off to a strong start this season with Morant leading the way. The young guard has been averaging 25.5 points, 7.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game, showcasing his talent and potential as a future star in the league.

Despite the setback, the Grizzlies remain optimistic about Morant’s recovery and are confident that he will return to the court stronger than ever. In the meantime, the team will look to rally around their other players and continue to compete at a high level in Morant’s absence.

Fans of the Grizzlies will have to wait patiently for Morant’s return, but the team is hopeful that he will be back in action in time for the latter part of the season. In the meantime, they are asking for support and well wishes for Morant as he works towards a full recovery.

Grizzlies star Ja Morant out, considered ‘week-to-week’ with right shoulder injury

Ja Morant’s latest shoulder injury is going to keep him off the floor indefinitely.

The Memphis Grizzlies star is out with a Grade 1 AC joint sprain in his right shoulder after he went down in Friday’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans, the team confirmed on Monday night. There is no timetable for his return, though Morant is now considered “week-to-week.”

Morant left Friday’s 132-124 win at the Smoothie King Center early after he was hit with a hard screen from Pelicans center Daniel Theis. Morant went down hard and immediately started rolling around in pain while pointing to his shoulder, and he initially drew an offensive foul. That, however, was overturned after a Pelicans challenge.

Morant eventually walked off the floor and went to the locker room. He finished with 25 points and seven assists in that win, and he then missed Sunday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Morant has averaged 21.2 points and 7.9 assists per game this season with the Grizzlies. The 25-year-old missed most of last season, first due to a 25-game suspension that stemmed from a string of gun and off-court incidents and then due to a season-ending right shoulder injury he sustained in practice. Morant underwent surgery to repair a labral tear in his right shoulder in January, but he was cleared to return before this season started.

Morant has already missed 13 games this season due to various injuries, though the team has gone 8-5 without him. They will enter Tuesday’s game against the Phoenix Suns with a 22-11 record.

While it sounds like Morant may have avoided the worst, considering it’s just a Grade 1 sprain, re-injuring his shoulder not quite a year out from surgery is undoubtedly concerning for Grizzlies fans. With his recent history, expect Memphis to be extra cautious with his return in the coming weeks.

The Memphis Grizzlies received some unfortunate news as star point guard Ja Morant will be out for an extended period of time due to a right shoulder injury. The team announced that Morant is considered ‘week-to-week’ as he undergoes treatment and rehabilitation.

Morant has been a key player for the Grizzlies this season, averaging 24.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game. His dynamic playmaking and scoring ability have been instrumental in the team’s success.

The Grizzlies will need to rely on their depth and other players to step up in Morant’s absence. It will be a challenging stretch for the team as they look to stay competitive in the Western Conference.

Fans of the Grizzlies will be eagerly awaiting Morant’s return to the court and hoping for a speedy recovery. In the meantime, they will continue to support the team as they navigate this injury setback.

Is Hawks’ Trae Young playing vs. Lakers? Latest injury update

The Atlanta Hawks will be facing the Los Angeles Lakers as part of their West Coast road trip, but they have a few players listed on the injury report. One of the players on the report is Trae Young, who’s dealing with a right hand contusion.

The Hawks are coming off a tough loss against the Denver Nuggets, and they were also without Jalen Johnson, who is on the injury report with right shoulder soreness. If the Hawks are without either Johnson or Young in any game, it will be tough for them to function on offense. As the game gets closer to tip-off, there should be more clarity on if Young will be available against the Lakers.

Trae Young is listed as questionable for the Hawks’ game against the Lakers, and it’s uncertain if he’ll play or not. The right hand contusion is a new injury for Young, and he must have suffered it during the Nuggets’ game. Young always tries his best to play, so if it’s nothing serious, he’ll definitely be on the court for the Hawks.

The last time the Hawks and Lakers faced each other was in Atlanta and the game went into overtime. The Hawks came out with the win after De’Andre Hunter found Young for an open game-winning three.

The Hawks have been playing well this season, and their defense has been one of the main reasons for their success. During the offseason, the front office made it a priority to put size and defenders around Young, and it’s been working for them and helping them get wins. On offense, Young continues to be the head of the snake getting his teammates involved, but he’s taken a step back which has allowed Jalen Johnson to blossom into the player he is this season.

Young and Johnson are the two key players for the Hawks, and when they’re both on the court, good things happen.

The Atlanta Hawks’ star point guard Trae Young is currently listed as questionable for their upcoming game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Young is dealing with a sore ankle, which caused him to miss their previous game against the Golden State Warriors.

The team is hopeful that Young will be able to suit up and play against the Lakers, but they will likely make a game-time decision based on how he is feeling leading up to tip-off.

Young has been a key player for the Hawks this season, averaging 25.3 points and 9.6 assists per game. His presence on the court is crucial for the team’s success, so they will undoubtedly be monitoring his injury closely.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on Trae Young’s status for the Hawks’ matchup against the Lakers.

Is Anthony Davis Playing? Final Lakers vs Hawks Injury Report Released

Will nine-time All-Star Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis suit up for his 19-14 club for its second game in as many nights, a Friday road tilt against the 18-16 Atlanta Hawks?

The 6-foot-10 superstar big man out of Kentucky sat out L.A.’s 114-106 victory over the 11-22 Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night, as he continues to deal with a sprained left ankle.

With Davis absent, first-year Los Angeles head coach JJ Redick started backup five Jaxson Hayes, a raw if athletic young big man. Hayes suited up for just 17:51, scoring four points on 2-of-4 shooting from the field, pulling down six boards, and notching a steal and a block.

Two-way center Christian Koloko, the only other healthy traditional five available on Thursday night, actually played more minutes than Hayes. The 7-footer appeared in 18:30 of action against Portland, chipping in eight points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor, eight rebounds, three assists and a steal.

The two Trail Blazers centers who played, starter Deandre Ayton and rookie reserve Donovan Clingan, combined for just 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field, nine rebounds and two assists. Ayton, who’s averaging a 14.3-point, 10.0-rebound double-double on the year, played for just 20:59 of action, clearly bothered by the athleticism of Hayes and Koloko.

As usual, Los Angeles big men Christian Wood (left knee surgery recovery) and Jarred Vanderbilt (right foot surgery recovery) are both on the shelf. Neither player has made his season debut yet through L.A.’s first 33 games, and both will miss the club’s 34th.

For Atlanta, second-year combo guard Kobe Bufkin (right shoulder injury management), big man Larry Nance Jr. (fractured fourth metacarpal in his right hand), deep-bench center Cody Zeller (away from the team), and second-year center Mouhamed Gueye (on assignment with the club’s G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks) are all unavailable. Two-way players Daeqwon Plowden and Keaton Wallace are also on assignment with the Skyhawks and will miss the clash.

The Lakers have been on a tear of late, having won seven of their last 10 contests. Adding 3-and-D small forward Dorian Finney-Smith and guard Shake Milton has strengthened the club’s depth, even if L.A. lost a little playmaking and scoring by offloading the frustratingly inconsistent D’Angelo Russell to the Brooklyn Nets for the second time in his NBA career.

Davis had been listed as probable to suit up on Friday. Now, his official fate has been confirmed. The five-time All-NBA standout will play after all, reports Jovan Buha of The Athletic.

More Lakers: Patrick Beverley Calls Out Los Angeles Fans in Wild Rant

The final injury report for the Los Angeles Lakers vs Atlanta Hawks game has been released, and all eyes are on Anthony Davis. Fans are eagerly awaiting news on whether the star player will be suiting up for the game.

After missing several games due to a calf strain, Davis has been listed as questionable for the matchup against the Hawks. Lakers fans are hoping to see him back on the court, as his presence could be a game-changer for the team.

Stay tuned for updates on Anthony Davis’ playing status and be sure to catch the game to see if he will be making his return to action. Let’s hope for a speedy recovery and a strong performance from the Lakers, regardless of Davis’ availability.

Is Kristaps Porzingis Playing? Full Celtics vs Raptors Injury Report

The Boston Celtics have been in a rut. They’ve lost three of their last four games, but on Tuesday, they’ll look to head into the new year on the right foot.

The Celtics will take on the Toronto Raptors on New Year’s Eve, who have lost 10 consecutive games. Boston will look to take that 11; however, the Celtics will be without their top center for this contest, Kristaps Porziņģis.

Porziņģis, who was listed as questionable due to an ankle issue, is now ruled out.

The 29-year-old has missed two straight games due to a left ankle sprain, and will now miss his third straight game. With Porziņģis’s absence, veteran center Al Horford has played an expanded role.

Even if Porziņģis would have gotten the green light Tuesday, he would have faced some limitations given his checkered injury history.

The former lottery pick has only been limited to 11 games this season, but he has been solid in his outings. He is averaging 18.3 points per game, 6.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 blocks while shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 32.8 percent from three in 27.2 minutes of action.

The last time we saw Porziņģis on the course was on Christmas Day when the Philadelphia 76ers lost to their rivals. He was limited in that contest, scoring nine points, three assists, and two rebounds while shooting 37 percent from the field.

Porziņģis will have missed 22 of Boston’s 33 games this season (after Tuesday’s contest) as he recovered from that offseason surgery to repair the rare foot injury he suffered during the NBA Finals. He was recovering all throughout the offseason and some of the season.

The Celtics will look to get the win without Porzingis, and they have good odds to do so, as they are -16.5 favorites. The Celtics have gone 21-7 against Eastern Conference opponents. Boston scores 119.5 points while outscoring opponents by 9.4 points per game.

The Raptors have gone 4-14 against Eastern Conference opponents. Toronto is third in the Eastern Conference with 17.2 fast break points per game, led by guard RJ Barrett, who is averaging 5.1.

The Celtics have had a tough stretch lately, holding a 5-5 record in their last 10 games. In those games, they are averaging 117.2 points, 48.8 rebounds, 25.5 assists, 7.3 steals, and 5.5 blocks per game while shooting 45.3 percent from the field. Their opponents have averaged 109.8 points per game.

More Celtics: Celtics Star Jayson Tatum Given Unexpected Odds in MVP Race

As the Boston Celtics gear up to face off against the Toronto Raptors, one question on fans’ minds is whether star player Kristaps Porzingis will be taking the court. Porzingis has been dealing with a lingering knee injury that has kept him out of several recent games.

The latest injury report indicates that Porzingis is listed as questionable for the upcoming game against the Raptors. The Celtics are hopeful that Porzingis will be able to play, as his presence on the court could make a significant impact on the outcome of the game.

In addition to Porzingis, the Celtics have a few other players on the injury report. Jaylen Brown is listed as probable with a minor ankle sprain, while Marcus Smart is listed as questionable with a wrist injury.

On the Raptors side, OG Anunoby is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, while Fred VanVleet is listed as probable with a minor knee issue.

Fans will have to wait and see whether Porzingis and the other injured players will be able to suit up for the game. Stay tuned for updates on their status as game time approaches.
