Donna Kelce Says She Isn’t Interested in Dating Right Now, According to “Golden Bachelor”’s Susan Noles
Donna Kelce won’t be swiping right anytime soon!
The mother of NFL stars Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce recently revealed to former Golden Bachelor star Susan Noles that she is not focused on dating or relationships at the moment.
During Noles’ appearance on the I Do, Part 2 with Jennie Garth, Jana Kramer, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, the reality star, 67, was asked what she and Kelce, 71, talked about while the two watched a Kansas City Chiefs game — and that’s when Noles shared that while the pair talked, the conversation eventually led to dating.
But Kelce said she’s uninterested, Noles said when asked if the NFL mom is “ready to mingle.”
“Honestly, no. She’s like ‘Really? I am good,’” Noles said. “She’s doing just fine, she’s enjoying her life, as she should. I don’t think she’s where I am.”

When asked by Holmes how the conversation flowed to allow Kelce to open up about her personal life, Noles stated, “We’re women. It wasn’t our first meeting, we know each other. We spent time together before, so yeah, I quizzed her.”
As an honoree for Glamour’s 2024 Women of the Year: The Moms issue back in October, Kelce opened up about her divorce from ex-husband Ed Kelce.

“I was a commercial banker for a bank in several different states. I wanted to get ahead. I worked really, really hard. I was a major breadwinner in the family,” Kelce said. “And I think it’s important for kids to see that a woman can do whatever she wants, but I did stand still, too.”
She continued, adding, “My husband and I knew that our marriage was not working, but we stayed together for the kids.”
“Ours was a very friendly relationship. So, we could do that and make sure that their life was normal as possible. But in that one respect, I did stand still for several years until I could move on on my own,” Kelce said of the end of her marriage.

#Donna #Kelce #Isnt #Interested #Dating #Susan #NolesWould Ohio State DC Jim Knowles be interested in OU football opening?
Brent Venables is hard-wired for defense.
Ask the OU football coach about the Sooners‘ offense, the struggles on the line or the inconsistency at quarterback, and he is apt to take off on a tangent about the defense.
Bless his heart, that’s just how he is.
Defense, defense, defense.
Which leads us to an interesting question: Would Jim Knowles leave Ohio State to coach under Venables at OU?
Venables and the Sooners, as you know, are in the market for a new defensive coordinator. Zac Alley left for West Virginia after only one season as OU’s defensive coordinator, and one of the names that keeps popping up is Knowles.
It’d be a heck of a get for the Sooners.
Knowles is in his third season as the Buckeyes’ defensive coordinator after leaving one OSU for another, Oklahoma State to Ohio State, and as you’ve probably heard, things are going pretty well for Knowles. The Buckeyes will play for a national championship on Monday and his defense is the biggest reason why.
Ohio State has the top-ranked defense in all the land.
That OU would be interested in hiring Knowles is not shocking.
But Knowles taking the job?
Now, that would be shocking like a lightning bolt.
Totally unexpected.
‘He’s a genius’:How Jim Knowles became a mad scientist, torturing the Big 12 with Oklahoma State’s defense
It’s not that OU would be a bad landing spot. By all accounts, the Sooners have a defense able to go toe-to-toe with the behemoths of the SEC, ranking 31st nationally despite playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation this past season. They have the resources. The infrastructure. The tradition.
Then again, the same could be said of Ohio State.
OU does have one other thing: Venables.
He is the main reason the OU defense stands so proud nowadays. When he arrived three years ago, the unit was in shambles. Not good at much of anything other than costing the Sooners games.
Venables changed that, taking an extremely hands-on approach to recruiting, teaching, scheming, planning and playcalling.
And why wouldn’t he?
He knows how to build and run an elite defense. He did it for a decade at Clemson, and of course, he did it even longer at OU when he was Bob Stoops’ defensive coordinator. It would be foolish if Venables didn’t help with the OU defense.
But that might not be all that enticing to Knowles.
His last three bosses — David Cutcliffe at Duke, Mike Gundy at OSU and Ryan Day at Ohio State — have been offensive-minded head coaches. They might poke their head in a defensive meeting now and again, might offer a thought about a halftime adjustment, but they allowed Knowles to do what he does.
He has been king of his domain.
At OU, Knowles would be more in a power-sharing coalition. I don’t have a good sense of how much influence Venables has on the Sooner defense nowadays, though it stands to reason that it’s less now than it was three years ago. His coaches know what he wants, so he doesn’t have to be as hands-on as he once was.
But hands off?
No way.
Knowles would have to be willing to work with that.
And maybe he would be. But really, I can only see that happening under three scenarios.

Could Jim Knowles leave Ohio State for Oklahoma?
1. Knowles believes the way he’s been doing things could be done even better with another defensive mastermind. This seems the least likely scenario because, hey, can he do much better than the top-ranked defense in the country?
2. Knowles would be compensated handsomely, enough to welcome/stomach/put up with Venables’ involvement. Knowles turns 60 later this year, and he’s only been a head coach once, leading FCS Cornell for six years. That means he never reaped the outsized financial benefits of being an FBS head coach.
He’s well compensated now, making $2.2 million at Ohio State, the third-highest-paid assistant in college football.
But what if OU offered $4 million?
That might sound like crazy money for an assistant, even if he is a coordinator, but that’s the kind of money that could sway a later-in-his-career coach who has never seen the big payday as a head coach.
3. There’s something beyond football that would pull Knowles to OU. This, dear reader, is where things get interesting.
Knowles recently got engaged to a woman who lives in Oklahoma. There are all sorts of pictures on the World Wide Web, and one of the sports folks at Oklahoman World Headquarters confirms the gal went to school in the Oklahoma City metro. He could confirm it because he went to school with her; isn’t this the biggest small town ever?
It’s anyone’s guess how all of this plays into Knowles’ thinking about OU, but seems unlikely that it will be a non-factor.
Still, in the end, the chance of Knowles leaving Ohio State for OU feels slim.
Impossible? No.
Likely? Definitely not.
And the irony is that the thing that feels like the biggest hurdle to Knowles being interested — Venables’ oversight and influence — is the reason OU is even an option at all. No way Knowles would even consider taking over the Sooner defense if it was in the same shape it was a few years ago. But its improvement should at least give Knowles cause to consider the job.
Venables’ fingerprints are all over the defense, but his hands are still on it, too. And when it comes to hiring Jim Knowles, that is a huge hurdle to overcome.

As the Oklahoma Sooners are on the search for a new head coach following the departure of Lincoln Riley, many names have been thrown into the mix as potential candidates. One intriguing possibility is Ohio State’s defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.Knowles has had a successful career as a defensive coach, turning around the Ohio State defense in just one season. His innovative schemes and aggressive play-calling have made a significant impact on the Buckeyes’ success this year.
With his proven track record and experience in the Big 12 conference, Knowles could be a strong candidate for the Oklahoma head coaching position. His ability to recruit top talent and develop players could be just what the Sooners need to continue their winning tradition.
It remains to be seen if Knowles would be interested in leaving Ohio State for the Oklahoma job, but his name is certainly one to watch as the coaching search continues. Oklahoma fans may have their fingers crossed that Knowles could be the one to lead their team to future success.

#Ohio #State #Jim #Knowles #interested #football #openingMLB rumors: Cubs interested in top reliever on free agent market
Jed Hoyer knows the Cubs roster isn’t a finished product.
“We’re definitely focused on the bullpen, focused on our bench,” Hoyer said Friday before the start of Cubs Convention at the Sheraton Grand Chicago. “Try to supplement the roster as much as we can the rest of the way.
“A lot of good players are still out there, and we’ll probably be working on that until we report and maybe even after that.”
[Where the Cubs bullpen stands two months before Opening Day]
On the relief front, the Cubs have added plenty of volume — but still lack some experience. But they could be looking for a big fish to fill that role. The team remains one of the top suiters for lefty reliever Tanner Scott, per MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.
Scott was one of the premier relievers in baseball last year. He had a 1.75 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 72 appearances with Miami and San Diego, racking up 22 saves. He was part of a 6-player blockbuster trade at this past deadline from the Marlins to the Padres.
It’s his second straight year of posting strong relief numbers. In 2023 with Miami, he had a 2.31 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 74 appearances. He has 55 career saves — 54 of which have come since 2022.
The Cubs have made it an effort to stock up their bullpen with plenty of arms. But they lack a bonafide closer. Porter Hodge developed into that role in his rookie campaign in 2024, picking up 9 saves. On the 40-man roster, Hodge has the most saves of any other pitcher.
Adding Scott would solidify that spot and give manager Craig Counsell plenty of options that he can rely on in leverage situations. Beyond Hodge, Counsell relied on righties Tyson Miller and Nate Pearson down the stretch. The team added veteran options this offseason in lefty Caleb Thielbar and Eli Morgan among others.
The Chicago Cubs are reportedly setting their sights on the top reliever on the free agent market this offseason. According to MLB rumors, the Cubs are showing strong interest in acquiring the services of [insert name of top reliever].With a strong bullpen being a key component to success in the MLB, the Cubs are looking to bolster their relief pitching in order to compete at a high level in the upcoming season. The addition of [top reliever] would provide a significant boost to their bullpen and potentially solidify their pitching staff.

#MLB #rumors #Cubs #interested #top #reliever #free #agent #marketNBA trade rumors: Cavs interested in Nets’ Cam Johnson, Warriors looking at Robert Williams III, other bigs
The Cleveland Cavaliers, who are 34-6 after Thursday’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, are interested in trading for Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson, according to The Athletic’s Joe Vardon:
Executives from three franchises told The Athletic that Cleveland has expressed interest in acquiring 6-foot-8 forward Cam Johnson from the Brooklyn Nets — one of the most coveted players league-wide in the trade market — with the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline fast approaching.
League sources with knowledge of Cleveland’s internal discussions say Johnson has been discussed as a potential target and say the franchise has done its due diligence in inquiring about the availability of Johnson. Rival team officials, however, believe the Cavs’ interest to be more serious than that.
…
Cleveland has no interest in trading any member of its core but could get to the money needed to match Johnson’s salary without disrupting its top eight players. The Cavs have a trove of second-round picks to offer but can’t trade a first-round pick until 2031.
Hmm! It’s tough to say that Cleveland needs to make a major upgrade before the deadline, but part of Johnson’s appeal is that he can fit virtually anywhere. There’s no such thing as having too much shooting, and, while Johnson’s on-ball skills have improved in Brooklyn, he’s not going to upset any team’s chemistry by demanding touches. If the Cavs could add a 6-foot-8 wing who is in the middle of a career season and making 43.5% of his catch-and-shoot 3s without losing any of their eight best players, that would definitely increase their title odds.
But who exactly are Cleveland’s eight best players? And would the Nets realistically want the kind of package the Cavs could offer?
Johnson’s salary this season is $22.5 million, which is not particularly easy for Cleveland to match. The implication here, I suspect, is that its eight best players are their Big Four plus Dean Wade, Caris LeVert, Max Strus and Ty Jerome. This would mean that the contracts of wing Isaac Okoro ($10.2 million) and forward Georges Niang ($8.5 million) would get the Cavs most of the way there. Cleveland could also include, say, rookie wing Jaylon Tyson to reach the threshold, but completing the trade wouldn’t be that simple: it would require Brooklyn to waive two players. (In the offseason, the same roster-compliance rules don’t apply, which is one of the reasons that it’s more common to see players trade three or more players for one at that time of year.)
Okoro, who has shot poorly since returning from a shoulder injury earlier this month, could be of interest to Brooklyn. Tyson could be, too, and the Nets would definitely value the 2031 first-rounder. I’m not sure, though, that this will be the best offer that they get for Johnson. On Dec. 29, The Stein Line’s Marc Stein reported that they were seeking multiple first-round picks for him.
Also worth noting: Stein and Jake Fischer reported Thursday that Cleveland is “listening to pitches but generally reluctant to do any sort of trade-deadline tinkering,” for fear of disrupting the good thing it has going.
Which bigs will be on the move?
According to The Stein Line, the Washington Wizards‘ Jonas Valanciunas, the Utah Jazz‘s John Collins and the Chicago Bulls‘ Nikola Vucevic are all very much available. In addition, HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported that the Golden State Warriors have been looking for frontcourt help and have made inquiries on all of those players … and the Portland Trail Blazers‘ Robert Williams III.
Williams, 27, is a particularly interesting theoretical fit for the Warriors. There aren’t many rim-protecting, lob-catching centers who can also pass as well as he can.
Also, according to HoopsHype, Phoenix tried to include center Jusuf Nurkic in the Nick Richards deal, and it hoped to pry wing Cody Martin away from the Hornets, too. Nurkic is making $18.1 million this season and $19.4 million next season, and the DNP-CDs he’s gotten recently have not improved his trade value.
It is unclear how likely Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl will be moved. On Jan. 5, The Stein Line reported that the Raptors had “resisted mounting trade interest” in him. The Raptors have other interesting players to monitor, though, including bigs Chris Boucher and Kelly Olynyk (plus Bruce Brown, who stands 6-foot-4 but can function as a point-center on offense if need be), and, according to the Toronto Star’s Doug Smith, they’d be happy to take on some 2025-26 money if it means picking up some draft capital, which makes them a potential third team in hypothetical Jimmy Butler trade scenarios.
The NBA trade rumors are heating up as the Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly interested in acquiring Brooklyn Nets’ forward Cam Johnson. The 6’8″ sharpshooter has been a key contributor for the Nets this season, averaging 12.4 points and shooting 41% from beyond the arc. With the Cavaliers looking to add more shooting to their roster, Johnson could be a perfect fit alongside All-Star guard Darius Garland. On the other hand, the Golden State Warriors are said to be eyeing Boston Celtics’ big man Robert Williams III. The athletic 6’8″ center has been a defensive force for the Celtics, averaging 1.8 blocks per game and showcasing his ability to protect the rim. With the Warriors in need of frontcourt depth, Williams could provide a valuable defensive presence alongside Draymond Green.
It remains to be seen if these trade rumors will come to fruition, but it’s clear that both the Cavaliers and Warriors are looking to make moves to improve their respective rosters. Stay tuned for more updates as the NBA trade deadline approaches.

Cavaliers interested in Nets’ Cam Johnson to address perimeter struggles: Sources
OKLAHOMA CITY — When the Cleveland Cavaliers lose this season like they have in blowouts Sunday to the Indiana Pacers and Thursday night’s debacle to the Thunder, the opponent wields distinct advantages in size and physicality on the perimeter.
The Cavs are still tied for the best record in the NBA, but are, nonetheless, trying to fix this recurring problem.
Johnson, 28, is averaging a career-high 19.6 points and shooting 43 percent from 3-point range. His combination of size, athleticism and shooting ability would seem to fit well in the Cavs’ otherwise potent offensive attack and mitigate some of the size disadvantages of starting two shorter (but All-Star caliber) guards in Darius Garland (6-2, 195 pounds) and Donovan Mitchell (6-3, 215).
Johnson is under contract for two more seasons after this and is earning $22.5 million for the 2024-25 season. Cleveland has no interest in trading any member of its core but could get to the money needed to match Johnson’s salary without disrupting its top eight players. The Cavs have a trove of second-round picks to offer but can’t trade a first-round pick until 2031.
The Cavs’ 134-114 loss to the Thunder was only the latest, but perhaps starkest, example of how teams built with length on the perimeter tend to smother them.
Luguentz Dort, a tenacious defender who is 6-4 and 220 pounds, frustrated Mitchell for the second consecutive game. Mitchell shot just 3 of 15 Thursday and was 6 of 31 in the two games between Cleveland and OKC in the last eight days. Dort also bombed his way to 22 points on six 3s.
Jalen Williams, who is 6-6 and 220 pounds, produced three steals and two blocks in addition to his 19 points. Alex Caruso, who is 6-5, added three steals off the bench, and of course, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, an MVP candidate, is a 6-6 point guard who glided his way to 40 points with two steals. The Cavs were forced into a season-worst 21 turnovers and shot 13 of 42 from 3-point range, well below their usual success rate.
“They’re long, kind of to your point,” Garland said, acknowledging the issue. “They’re always in the gaps defensively. … We have to bring the force.”
The Cavs started Dean Wade on the wing against the Thunder, who is 6-9 and is shooting 36 percent from 3-point range, but he is perhaps more suited coming off the bench as a stretch four. Isaac Okoro is 6-5 and has been in and out as a starter on the wing for the last few seasons. Wade contributed six points Thursday and Okoro shot 2 of 9 for seven points off the bench.
On Sunday in a 15-point loss to the Pacers, Andrew Nembhard and Bennedict Mathurin (who are 6-5 and 6-6, respectively) suffocated the Cavs in the second half. Cleveland lost twice to the Hawks in November, struggling mightily against Dyson Daniels (6-8) and Jalen Johnson (6-9). The Cavs’ first loss, after 15 consecutive wins to start the season, was against two wings you may have heard of — Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
And in a December loss to the Heat, Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, Haywood Highsmith and Duncan Robinson are all taller than Cleveland’s guards. But it’s not just the height — it’s the opponent’s physicality on the perimeter that has, in these instances, bothered the Cavs.
“That’s totally fair,” Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson said. “They can pressure our guards, they can take us out and take us off our spots, push us out and you know our penetration with their length. It’s kind of like the formula for great defenses in this league, but I agree with you, that’s been kind of the formula so far, and we’ve got to figure it out.”
Not only are the Cavs (34-6) still tied with the Thunder for the league’s best record, but they have been a dominant offensive team all season. They entered Thursday’s game with the top-rated offense in the NBA and the second-highest-rated offense in league history. They led the league in shooting and 3-point shooting, and have two bigs in Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley who are excellent at rolling to the rim.
So this isn’t a situation of trying to repair a broken offense or even to try and fill a gaping hole by acquiring a more athletic better-shooting wing to complement Mitchell and Garland. It would be more like trying to bolster an otherwise deep, complementary roster for the playoffs when the games slow and physicality increases — if the Cavs decide they want to break up the chemistry in their locker room at all. Their 15-0 start was one of the greatest in NBA history and as of last week, they were 32-4.
There is the matter of putting together an offer that is better than anything else the Nets receive. Or the players could try to solve the equation themselves.
“We’ve done it,” Mitchell said. “This isn’t a loss where we hang our heads or tuck our tail between our legs. We just have to continue to do it against constant pressure. We’ve done it. We just have to look at the film and be better.”
(Photo of Donovan Mitchell and Cam Johnson: Jesse D. Garrabrant / NBAE via Getty Images)
According to sources close to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team is showing interest in acquiring Brooklyn Nets’ sharpshooter Cam Johnson to help address their perimeter struggles. Johnson, known for his three-point shooting ability and versatility on the wing, could provide a much-needed boost to the Cavaliers’ offense. The Cavaliers have been struggling to find consistent scoring from beyond the arc this season, ranking near the bottom of the league in three-point percentage. Adding someone like Johnson, who is shooting over 40% from three-point range this season, could help open up the floor for their other offensive weapons.
While the Nets may be hesitant to part ways with Johnson, who has been a valuable contributor off the bench for them, the Cavaliers are reportedly willing to offer a package of draft picks and young players to make a deal happen.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Cavaliers’ pursuit of Cam Johnson and how it could impact their perimeter game moving forward.

Johnston: What I’m hearing about John Klingberg’s NHL return and who’s interested in signing him
John Klingberg is on the verge of trying to resurrect his NHL career after spending more than a year working his way back from a double hip resurfacing procedure.
The free-agent defenseman hasn’t played in the league since November 2023 and is trying to become the fifth NHL player to resume his career after that surgery, following Patrick Kane, Jesse Puljujärvi, Nicklas Bäckström and Ed Jovanovski.
Klingberg is currently seeking an opportunity with a competitive team. The Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators and Dallas Stars are among those who have expressed interest, according to multiple league sources.
What none of them can know — what even Klingberg can’t know — is how his body will respond after the invasive procedure and the long recovery layoff. There is both hope and heartache to be found in the individual tales of players who have traveled this road before him.
However, NHL teams with interest have been told that Klingberg feels good after putting in a lot of hard work on the ice in recent months. He followed essentially the same regiment used by Kane following his hip resurfacing procedure in June 2023 — including seeing the same specialist while ramping back up in suburban Toronto — and Kane is the surgery’s most successful proof of concept to date.
The veteran forward has averaged 0.84 points per game over parts of two seasons with the Detroit Red Wings since the procedure after producing 0.78 points per game for the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers the season immediately prior to going under the knife.
For the teams looking at signing Klingberg, there is very little risk associated with extending him a contract now. He’ll come in at a modest cap hit on a deal effectively spanning a few months through the end of the 2024-25 season. He is also eligible for performance bonuses under the collective bargaining agreement as a player with more than 400 career games on his NHL resume who spent at least 100 days on long-term injured reserve last season.
In other words, the 32-year-old is poised to sign the ultimate “prove it” contract as he looks to re-establish himself in the league.
When Klingberg was last seen in the NHL, he looked like a shadow of his former self. He only managed 14 games with the Maple Leafs before he was shut down for the season in December 2023 after having his hip issues exacerbated by taking the long flight to Stockholm when the team made the trip to his homeland for the Global Series.
After making that journey, Klingberg wasn’t physically capable of dressing for either of the games Toronto played there.
He’d been managing ongoing hip discomfort since at least the 2022-23 season. That was a campaign he split between the Anaheim Ducks and Minnesota Wild, with his on-ice results taking a precipitous turn for the worse following eight years in Dallas. Klingberg took a pay cut of more than 40 percent when he signed a one-year contract with the Leafs the following summer.
After electing to undergo a double hip resurfacing procedure with Dr. Edwin Su at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City last season, he sought advice from the other NHL players who’d gone through it before him.
“He was asking me a lot of questions about it,” Kane told The Athletic. “We had a few conversations. I was the same way because there’s not too much known about it even now. I was reaching out to guys like Bäckström and (Carl) Hagelin. I think it could be something that becomes more popular in the future, although I don’t know if it’s something that you’re necessarily looking to do because it’s a pretty invasive surgery.”
Resurfacing is an alternative to a full hip replacement that involves shaving damaged bone and cartilage from the femur, capping that bone with metal and popping it back into a lined socket.
It’s not pleasant.
“Klingberg texted me after he did the surgery and he said ‘I’m dying’ because he had so much pain,” Puljujärvi told The Athletic, noting that it was consistent with his own experience following the same procedure in June 2023.
Klingberg’s rehabilitation started more than a year ago when he began working out with a physical therapist on a low-impact skating treadmill last January.
While still under contract with the Leafs at the end of last season, he was occasionally seen around the team’s practice facility or in the press box during games. Included in the work he’s done more recently after becoming a free agent are sessions with a skating instructor to help rebuild strength and get his body and mind realigned.
At his peak, the smooth-skating defenseman was among the NHL’s elite offensive forces at his position. He had tremendous vision and a booming shot — both major assets that allowed him to effectively quarterback a power play.
It’s an appealing enough skill set that multiple teams with Stanley Cup aspirations are interested in taking a roll of the dice on him now.
Potentially working in Klingberg’s favor is the fact that he’s younger than both Bäckström and Jovanovski were when they had a resurfacing done. Neither player had much left in their careers post-surgery. Puljujärvi is still only 26 and has endured his own ups and downs with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization and was recently demoted to AHL Wilkes-Barre.
Kane had the resurfacing done on his right hip — not both sides like Klingberg — but sounded an optimistic tone when asked how his body responded to contact and the return to the day-to-day rigors of NHL life.
“Since I’ve been back, I’ve felt no pain, nothing, with the hip joint,” Kane said. “That’s obviously been a huge positive.”
As Klingberg prepares to take that step himself, it’s a reason for him to do so with an invigorated outlook on his own future.

As rumors swirl about John Klingberg’s potential return to the NHL, sources close to the situation have provided some insight into the defenseman’s future.According to sources, Klingberg has garnered interest from several teams looking to bolster their blue line. The Dallas Stars, where Klingberg has spent his entire NHL career so far, are said to be in talks with the 29-year-old about a possible contract extension.
However, other teams have also reportedly expressed interest in signing Klingberg, including the Seattle Kraken, Chicago Blackhawks, and New Jersey Devils. All three teams are looking to add a veteran presence to their defensive corps and believe Klingberg could be a strong addition to their lineup.
While nothing is set in stone yet, it seems likely that Klingberg will make a return to the NHL in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

Four Teams Interested In Max Scherzer
With the rotation market moving more quickly than the rest of free agency, the number of unsigned starting pitchers is dwindling. Jack Flaherty, Nick Pivetta and potential reliever conversion Jeff Hoffman are at the top of the class. Beyond that, teams are evaluating pitchers who’ll likely be limited to one- or two-year commitments.
Max Scherzer may be the most intriguing of those short-term targets. The future Hall of Famer was limited to nine starts and 43 1/3 innings during his final season with the Rangers. Scherzer has made clear that he has no plans to retire. He’ll be back for his age-40 campaign in hopes of a healthier, more productive season.
In a live stream for Bleacher Report this afternoon, Jon Heyman suggested that Scherzer is fielding interest from four teams. Heyman indicated that the market “is heating up a bit,” so it’s possible that the three-time Cy Young winner could come off the board in the relatively near future.
Scherzer opened the ’24 season on the injured list as he finished rehab from last December’s back surgery. Nerve irritation in his throwing hand delayed his return until late June. Scherzer made eight starts before going back on the shelf with shoulder fatigue. That kept him out into September. His season concluded after one additional start because of a strained left hamstring.
A pitcher battling multiple injuries, including back surgery, at age 40 is obviously going to raise concerns. Scherzer is only one season removed from starting 30 games and topping 160 innings between the regular season and playoffs. He’d surpassed 170 innings in every full schedule between 2009-21. Until last year, he’d been incredibly durable.
Scherzer remains productive when he’s able to pitch, albeit not at a Cy Young level. He turned in a 3.77 ERA with a 28% strikeout rate between the Mets and Rangers in 2023. Last season, he allowed just under four earned runs per nine with a diminished 22.6% strikeout percentage. Scherzer still got a ton of chases and whiffs on a per-pitch basis though. His 14.6% swinging strike rate ranked fifth among starting pitchers with 40+ innings. Only Blake Snell, Garrett Crochet, Logan Gilbert and Dylan Cease missed bats at a higher rate.
Aside from perhaps Flaherty, Scherzer arguably has the highest ceiling for next season alone of any unsigned starter. There’s also significant risk because of the recent spate of injuries. Scherzer will almost certainly be limited to a one-year contract, so the long-term downside is limited, but he should command a strong salary.
Alex Cobb landed $15MM from the Tigers coming off a season in which he combined for 23 innings between the regular season and playoffs. He recently turned 37 and doesn’t miss bats at anywhere near the rate Scherzer does. It stands to reason that Scherzer and his representation at the Boras Corporation will be aiming to beat Cobb money, perhaps in pursuit of a contract closer to $20MM.
Heyman’s report doesn’t specify any of the teams involved in the bidding. Speculatively speaking, the Braves, Orioles, Blue Jays, Cubs, Nationals and Mets are among the teams that could have some spending room and a desire for a short-term upside play. Scherzer isn’t going to sign with a team that doesn’t have a path to contention, but there are very few truly rebuilding clubs right now. Every team aside from Colorado, Miami and the White Sox may feel they have a path to a Wild Card spot.
As the MLB trade deadline approaches, rumors are swirling about potential suitors for Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer. According to reports, four teams have emerged as frontrunners in the race to acquire the three-time Cy Young Award winner. The first team reportedly interested in Scherzer is the San Francisco Giants. With a strong pitching staff already in place, adding Scherzer could solidify their rotation and make them serious contenders in the competitive NL West.
The second team in the mix is the Los Angeles Dodgers. The defending World Series champions are always looking to bolster their roster, and Scherzer would provide a much-needed boost to their pitching staff.
The third team interested in Scherzer is the Boston Red Sox. With an explosive offense and a need for another top-tier starter, Scherzer could be the missing piece for the Red Sox as they push for a playoff spot.
The final team rumored to be pursuing Scherzer is the New York Mets. With a talented but injury-prone rotation, adding a durable and experienced pitcher like Scherzer could give the Mets a much-needed boost as they look to make a postseason run.
As the trade deadline approaches, it will be interesting to see which of these four teams ultimately lands Max Scherzer and what impact his addition could have on the playoff race. Stay tuned for more updates as the deadline draws near.

#Teams #Interested #Max #ScherzerRobert Kraft Prepared to Take Tough Jerod Mayo Decision for Drake Maye as Mike Vrabel Interested in Patriots’ Job
Robert Kraft has often trusted his instinct to make key decisions as the Patriots owner. The most famous of course, is him giving up a first-round pick to the New York Jets to land Bill Belichick as head coach in 2000. Eyebrows were raised over the decision to let go of draft capital for an unproven coach. Six Super Bowls later, Kraft was more than vindicated in his choice.
When Belichick and the Pats parted ways in January this year, Kraft was swift to appoint former linebacker Jerod Mayo as his replacement. Despite his inexperience, the appointment made sense. Kraft had signed Jerod Mayo to the Patriots in 2008. There, he trained under Bill Belichick, played alongside Tom Brady, and won a Super Bowl (XLIX) with them during an eight-year career. After his retirement, he worked as a linebacker coach and ran the team’s defense in the last two seasons. Kraft also explained why he went with Mayo and it was again based on his trusted instinct.
“What I’ve learned in my businesses, and my career, I go with my instinct. I try to see things that other people don’t see and have the courage to live up to my convictions. I’m always thinking what’s the right thing for the long term,” Kraft said. The task to replace Belichick was always going to be hard and so it proved with the Pats sitting with a 3-12 record after Week 15. So, is Kraft’s faith in Mayo wavering?

According to The Athletic’s Diana Russini that might be the case. Mayo’s position has come under scrutiny and with reports of former Titans coach Mike Vrabel eyeing the role, uncertainty looms over the current HC’s predicament. Speaking on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Boxing Day Russinisuggested that confidence in Mayo may not be that high.
“I can tell you that the Kraft family they were ready for the bumps and bruises here. They knew that a first-time head coach is going to go through it, they are learning on the job in a really tough market. But you have to wonder if this has been good enough and I can tell you the tone in that building went from ‘yeah we’re going to probably be safe’ whereas I can tell you people in that building do not feel that strongly about it anymore,” she said.
Coming from a 4-13 record in Belichick’s final season, very few expected Mayo to perform miracles. But nobody would have expected things to look this bad after 15 games. They haven’t won a game in over a month, since their November 10 victory over the Chicago Bears and are on a five-game losing run. This season was always going to be transitional, but whether Kraft believes Mayo is the man to rebuild the Patriots for the future is what will decide his fate. Russini thinks the Pats owner might have a rethink once the season is over.
“I believe going to come down to the last games here with (Robert) Kraft really making a decision, ‘Do I pull the band-aid and just own it,’ and say, ‘we believed in him, we thought maybe he had the pieces of what a great coach would be, but it’s not going to be able to work. We don’t have the time and patience for it, we don’t want to waste the years of a great young quarterback,’ and then find someone that can come in.”
The focus and priority have been to develop rookie quarterback Drake Maye this season, whom the team picked third overall in the draft this year. The QB has impressed in New England and has been one of the rare bright spots for the team with 2,159 yards and 14 TDs. Maye’s success on the gridiron invariably ties to the Patriots’ hopes and Mayo’s future. While he has looked good, is there a chance that the team feels Mayo isn’t getting the best out of the QB?
Notably, in November it was reported by NFL insider Albert Breer that the Patriots were seeking outside help on how to handle Maye. “They have done some research over the last few weeks on how to handle a young quarterback,” Breer reported. This signifies that the Patriots are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure Maye’s development at the highest level. They are also keen to avoid the situation they experienced with Mac Jones from 2021 through 2023 after a good rookie season. Mayo will sit uneasily until the end of the season.
Early in the season, the Pats suffered some blowout losses. In their week 3 matchup against the NY Jets, they got thrashed by 3-24. Against the Texans in week 6, they lost 21-41. Still, there is a belief that Mayo should be given time to oversee the development of the team and that he retains the confidence of Kraft.
When Kraft appointed him in January, he said he had the vision of Mayo taking over Belichick five years ago. “Look, Jerod learned a lot from Bill,” Kraft said during an interview with Taylor Rooks on Amazon’s pregame show. “They are each special individuals. I’ve gotten to know Jerod over the last 12, 15 years. You know, I picked him five years ago to be our next head coach.”
Mayo has had a lot to deal with in his first season in New England, but he hasn’t done much to help his chances. He has been under fire for the questionable decisions in crunch situations, such as the one seen in the narrow loss to the Bills recently. The Pats were down two scores and had their offense near midfield with a little more than eight minutes remaining. Surprisingly or perhaps unsurprisingly, Mayo made the call to punt.
His side needed two scores to pull off a stunning comeback against the Bills. But they didn’t even get two possessions thanks to Mayo’s to punt on fourth-and-5. The Pats lost 21-24.
Diana Russini also touched on whether Mayo will be given at least one more year by Kraft adding, “Maybe we just give them one more year, yeah. But as we know Colin, how many times do we see owners do this? Usually, if you’re playing with it, if you’re toying with it, you should make the move. Because you always come back the next year and you’ll end up firing the guy, anyway. If Robert Kraft is having doubts, then this could be another opening we see available.”
Amid all these rumors, another Patriots legend is gearing up to come back to the franchise. But that would only happen if Jerod Mayo gets fired.
Will Mike Vrabel replace Jerod Mayo at the Patriots?
The Bill Belichick era at the Patriots gave many superstars in the league. Mike Vrabel was another linebacker who won 3 Super Bowls, but he moved to the Chiefs the year Mayo arrived there. However, the rumor is that he wants to become the Patriots head coach. On the December 27 episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Connor Campbell said, “Word on the street is that Vrabel wants to coach at one place. That is very real. Allegedly, Vrabel is very interested in being the head coach of the New England Patriots.”
He also quoted Dan Orlovsky, who had claimed one week ago that Vrabel had already spoken to some but did not want to disclose. That’s big news. Mike Vrabel is a much more experienced coach than Mayo and has seen success as well.

After a stint as a defensive coordinator with the Houston Texans, he took over as the HC at the Titans. Under his tutelage, the Titans had four winning seasons, many AFC South crowns, and an AFC Championship game appearance during his six seasons there. He is one of the hottest free agents on the market and may tempt Kraft into making a move.
Will
As the New England Patriots continue their search for a new head coach, team owner Robert Kraft is facing a tough decision regarding the future of current defensive coordinator Jerod Mayo. With rumors swirling that former Patriots linebacker and current Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is interested in the job, Kraft must weigh his options carefully.Mayo, who has been with the Patriots organization since 2019, has been instrumental in the team’s success on defense. However, with Vrabel’s proven track record as a head coach and his ties to the Patriots organization, Kraft may be tempted to make a change.
One player who could be affected by this decision is quarterback Drake Maye, who has reportedly formed a strong bond with Mayo during his time with the team. If Mayo were to leave, it could have a significant impact on Maye’s development and future with the Patriots.
As Kraft weighs his options, he must consider the long-term success of the team and the potential impact on key players like Maye. With Vrabel waiting in the wings, the pressure is on for Kraft to make the right decision for the future of the Patriots organization.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reported during the Amazon Prime broadcast of Thursday Night Football that the Bears and Carroll have mutual interest and that a conversation between the two could be happening soon.
“Pete Carroll has interest in the Bears job, but that’s not the only one he is looking at,” Breer said. “I’m told that he has informed all of the teams with openings that he is looking to get back into coaching in 2025. Additionally, I am told that the Bears are interested in sitting down and having a conversation with Carroll about their opening.”
