Teddy Swims’s Lose Control has become a generational, unavoidable hit. Billboard declared it the top single of 2024; it refuses to leave the UK charts after 14 months. Impressively, his 2023 album I’ve Tried Everything ButTherapy (Part 1) backed up its promise, testament to the 32-year-old Atlantan’s skill at crafting sympathetic settings for his stunning, gale-force voice. Hozier sings Adele is his default setting, which will never lose anyone money. And Teddy gives it everything. If he’s trapped in a glass case of emotion, it’s the size and weight of the Shard. Although, as soulfully weathered as his crooning gets, it has little of that genuine, binman-in-a-bear-trap pain of singers such as Jelly Roll.
That was fine on Part 1, which detailed Swims’s entanglement in an unhealthy relationship. The sunshine in his voice seasoned his professed unhappiness with a pleasantly odd bathos. Sadly, Teddy has since fallen in love. Part 2 feels more corporate, with its genre-hopping, playlist-pleasing songs and much gusty whimpering about how great his girlfriend is. Still, Funeral, Bad Dreams, Hammer to the Heart and Not Your Man are as good as this brand of pop gets. Swims will be inescapable for a time yet.
Teddy Swims: I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2) review – extra-size emotion | Pop and rock
Teddy Swims is back with the highly anticipated continuation of his emotional journey in “I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)”. This new release is a raw and vulnerable exploration of the singer’s struggles and triumphs, set against a backdrop of catchy pop and rock melodies.
The EP kicks off with the anthemic track “Love Me Now”, a powerful ballad that showcases Teddy Swims’ soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics. The song is a plea for acceptance and understanding, with Swims baring his soul in a way that is both heartbreaking and empowering.
“Bed on Fire” follows with a more upbeat and infectious sound, blending elements of pop and rock to create a dynamic and captivating track. Swims’ vocals soar over the driving guitar riffs, creating a sense of urgency and passion that is impossible to ignore.
The EP closes with the poignant “Feelings”, a hauntingly beautiful ballad that showcases Swims’ vulnerability and introspection. The song is a reflection on the complexities of emotions and the struggles of navigating the highs and lows of life, set against a backdrop of lush instrumentation and emotive vocals.
Overall, “I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)” is a stunning showcase of Teddy Swims’ talent and artistry. The EP is a testament to the power of music to heal and inspire, and a reminder that it’s okay to be vulnerable and seek help when needed. Teddy Swims has once again proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the pop and rock music scene, and this latest release is sure to resonate with fans old and new.

At the beginning of every season in Marvel Rivals, each player will get a rank reset and will be demoted around seven tiers (unless they’re already floating around the bottom), meaning they’ll all just get grouped in Bronze 3. This reset has meant that the first half of Season 1 has—what I can only imagine—felt like a free-for-all fistfight inside a house that’s on fire, and every so often, one of your teammates pours gasoline everywhere—so, yeah, it’s been fun.
After climbing up to Diamond in Season 0, I started this season off in Silver 1. I actually wasn’t aware of just how severe this rank reset was going to be, and I was unpleasantly surprised to realise I would be back fighting in Silver and Gold lobbies.
For those of you who don’t know what it’s like to play in these lobbies, first off, count yourself lucky. Secondly, they can be pretty hit-and-miss when it comes to skill and your teammates actually having brain cells—I’ve played alongside a Spider-Man who was just as helpful as a pineapple with a mouse and keyboard.
As per usual, the quality of your teammates can vary—as can the amount of sweat you need to put into pulling out a W. Most of the games were an easy win, but every now and then, I’d come across a team from hell; at this point, we’d get humbled and easily crushed by the opposition.
There’s nothing more soul-destroying than seeing a Grand Master on the other team as you’re loading into a ranked game. Players who finished at GM or Eternity last season get a silver crest of honour (this will also apply to those who finish in Celestial going forward), so you can always tell when you’re in for a hard time. Players that have this crest aren’t necessarily going to win 100% of the time, but they are responsible for some of the hardest matches I’ve come across.
A couple of nights ago, I came across a team in which four out of the six players had this icon. The match was on Yggdrasill Path, and we were on attack first. Getting those goats through the first game was like trying to wade through wet cement. Despite my entire team putting up a decent fight, we weren’t able to win.
It was a close game, mind, which soothes my pride—but my team definitely had a harder time trying to keep up with the opposition. They were impressively coordinated to the point where they were synchronising point pushes and flanks on our strategists, staggering their ults, and tracking ours without fail.
Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.
But that’s just part of the game of trying to rank up in Marvel Rivals. It seems to be pretty commonplace that after a few good wins, players will then come up against a crushing loss. I’ve seen tons of players discuss just how tough Marvel Rivals’ competitive losing streak can be and how sometimes it just doesn’t feel like a fair fight at all.
“I am not upset about losing; what upsets me the most is that there was zero shot of winning the match,” one player says. “When I get to rank 1 in a tier, and I’m close to ranking up, the party matchmaker gives me the most heinous group of people to play with. Instalocking dps, getting zero kills, and spreading out to the four corners of the map for no reason. That one random guy who loads in five minutes after the match starts. Getting straight stomped, to the point the other team is confused as to why they got a bot match in competitive.”
I’ve had my fair share of loss streaks, but as long as you perform well in each match, your last season’s rating will cushion the blow somewhat until the game is around long enough for MMR to properly kick in. I’ve lost six games in a row before and only fell two tiers; then, after winning two games, I rose back to Plat 1. It is a bit messy, but until you start losing the same amount of competitive points for a loss as you gain for a win, it means the SBMM doesn’t think you’ve found your forever rank.
Speaking from experience
Even still, sometimes it’s not enough to rely on the obscure and sometimes cruel gods of ranked matchmaking to help you rank up. There are a few variables that you can control, which will help you climb up the ranks.
The easy one is to start early. While the first few weeks of a new season, after a rank reset, are pretty chaotic, I’ve seen that it can be harder to rank up if you leave it too late and get stuck with players who should actually be placed in the lower tiers. One of my mates left it too late to climb with us, and fought against some real characters to get within queuing distance of our squad. We’d hear horror stories every night, like the one time he came across a Spider-Man player who was adamant that he could act as a tank.
The easiest way to circumvent the frustration of having sporadic teammates is to queue with the same people.
Apart from communicating with a team, learning to track ultimates (especially ones that can counter you), learning a wide range of heroes across the roles, and keeping on top of the current meta, the best, easiest way to climb is to just queue alongside a team.
Like every other team-based competitive shooter, the worst part of a match is always the players. Unlike games like CS2 or Valorant, where an individual player can really make a difference in the outcome of a match, Marvel Rivals relies on teamwork to win matches. That’s not to say an individual can’t make a game-saving play, but there is a limit as to how much one person can carry an entire team.
So, the easiest way to circumvent the frustration of having sporadic teammates is to queue with the same people. Having a recurring team takes some of the coin flip out of your climbing, plus it’s easier to coordinate attacks when you’re playing with people you know and have practiced with.
But probably the best tip I’ve heard when it comes to playing competitive queue in Marvel Rivals is to try not to take it too seriously. I understand that this is easier said than done, but having gone from being too invested and competitive in Overwatch 2 to not actually caring if I rank up or down has not just helped my mental, but also meant that I actually enjoy most of the competitive games I play. At the end of the day, it’s all just pixels, and the most important part is that you actually have a fun time, not just a successful one—on the other hand, both. Both is good.
I’ve navigated Marvel Rivals’ chaotic ranked play and dragged myself out of Plat hell, which means it’s time to start preparing to do it all over again next season.
After countless hours of grinding, strategizing, and sometimes even raging, I’ve finally made it out of Plat hell in Marvel Rivals. The road to this point has been long and arduous, filled with tough opponents, frustrating losses, and exhilarating victories.
But now that I’ve reached the coveted rank of Diamond, I know that the real work is just beginning. With a new season on the horizon, it’s time to start preparing for the next climb up the ladder. This means refining my deck, studying the meta, and staying on top of the latest strategies and trends in the game.
It’s a daunting task, to be sure. But I know that with determination, perseverance, and a healthy dose of luck, I can once again rise through the ranks and prove my skills as a top Marvel Rivals player.
So here’s to the next season, full of new challenges, new opportunities, and hopefully, a few more shiny new ranks to add to my collection. Bring it on, Marvel Rivals. I’m ready for whatever you throw at me.
Ahead of Scream’s Mason Gooding coming back for Ghostface’s next appearance, the actor is the leading man in a Valentine’s Day treat among upcoming horror movies, Heart Eyes. Halloween has Michael Myers, Christmas has Krampus and Thanksgiving has John Carver, and from now on, V-Day will have the Heart Eyes Killer. When CinemaBlend spoke to Gooding and his co-lead Olivia Holt, the Scream actor had a hilarious reaction to being a frequent horror movie survivor… thus far anyway.
Prior to Heart Eyes, Gooding has become somewhat of a Scream King having played Chad Meeks-Martin in both 2022’s Scream and as part of the Scream 6 cast a year later, which had him surviving Ghostface on two occasions and officially coming back for the seventh movie, which will include Neve Campbell’s return. The actor was also in last year’s nostalgic horror comedy Y2K, which saw him surviving, too. When I mentioned his impressive track record for a frequent horror star, Gooding shared his thoughts on finally dying in a horror movie (someday). In his words:
Oh, I’m just praying someone has the gall to kill me [in a horror movie]. I feel like I’ve earned it at this point, but for some reason my characters have a level of immortality that just eludes my desire to be killed, on screen, of course. I would love to die naked for some reason. That just sounds about right. I don’t know how it’ll happen.
Well… that’s one way to go. It sounds like Mason Gooding has been thinking about how he’d like to go, and had a really funny and fully fleshed out answer. I especially loved seeing his co-star, Olivia Holt, react with one-word:
Unreal.
Don’t you worry, Mason Gooding had more to his personal pitch on how he’d like to die in a horror movie. As I said, his answer was quite well thought out.
You don’t think that that would make a lot of sense? Like, we’re naked for so much of our lives. It only makes sense that we would die the same way we were brought into this world: naked and afraid.
Look, it’s a fantastic idea, and of course, if it did happen, he wouldn’t be the first actor to die in a horror movie in his birthday suit. Perhaps one of the most famous kills in horror movies was in 1960’s Psycho, when Janet Leigh’s Marion Crane is murdered while in the shower, a moment which was set to an unforgettable score and some Hershey’s chocolate syrup and has lived on immortally ever since. (Check out the classic scene on YouTube).
Will Mason Gooding survive the Heart Eyes Killer? You’ll have to see for yourself when the movie comes out next weekend, just one week ahead of Valentine’s Day. Heart Eyes comes from writers Christopher Landon of the Happy Death Day movies and Freaky alongside It’s A Wonderful Knife’s Michael Kennedy and Philip Murphy. The movie was directed by Werewolves Within’s Josh Ruben.
When it comes to Heart Eyes, the mysterious killer haunts couples on V-Day, however, in the case of Gooding’s Jay and Holt’s Ally, they become perplexed when they are stalked by him when they are not lovers, but coworkers, who briefly pretended to be. It’s great to see Mason Gooding lead his own horror film this time around in Heart Eyes, and despite his desire to die on screen, I hope he keeps the streak alive for years to come.
Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News
Mason Gooding, the breakout star of the hit horror film ‘Scream’, has been making waves with his hilarious and charismatic personality. In a recent interview, the actor shared his thoughts on how he would like to meet his demise in a horror movie, and it’s both hilarious and endearing.
“I’ve earned it at this point,” Gooding quipped with a playful smile. “I want to go out in a blaze of glory, screaming my head off and giving my best ‘heart eyes’ to the camera. It would be the perfect combination of terror and comedy, don’t you think?”
The actor went on to explain that he has always been a fan of horror movies and loves the adrenaline rush that comes with watching them. “I think it would be a fitting end for me to go out in a horror movie, surrounded by all the classic tropes and cliches. Plus, it would give me a chance to show off my scream queen skills,” he added with a wink.
Fans of Gooding can’t help but imagine the actor in a horror movie, giving his all in a dramatic and over-the-top death scene. Whether he meets his end at the hands of a masked killer or a supernatural entity, one thing is for sure – it would be a memorable and entertaining moment for audiences.
As for now, fans can catch Mason Gooding in the highly anticipated ‘Scream’ sequel, where he is sure to bring his trademark charm and wit to the screen. And who knows, maybe his dream of dying in a horror movie will come true sooner than he thinks.

Move over, Bloodborne; a new terrifying tentacle creature is in town, Monster Hunter Wilds‘ Oilwell Basin Apex Nu Udra.
In a new video shared by IGN, we get a good long look at the Nu Udra, a slimy, oily octopus-looking monster that can set itself on fire. It writhes as you attack it, pulses when it grabs you and moves, and has far too many orifices that open out of nowhere. Director Yuya Tokuda is very proud of it.
“When we saw the tests, we also thought to make it the apex predator of the Oilwell Basin,” Tokuda tells IGN. “While there are countless proposals that I’ve had rejected due to technical reasons, it feels like I’m finally getting to attempt one of those this time around.”
It’s hard to overstate just how impressive the monster is. Getting a creature like that to interact with the terrain properly is not easy, especially when you add all the lighting effects to it once it’s on fire. It also scurries off into a hole, a moment the animators want people to pay attention to.
“When we first implemented the movement of it going inside a hole, an animator told me, ‘When you weaken it and it starts heading back to its nest, please wait here for a moment,’” Tokuda remembers. “They wanted me to see it going into its little hole, and I still remember replying, ‘Oh, that really is amazing!’ The animator looked so satisfied as well.”
Monster Hunter Wilds: Oilwell Basin Apex Nu Udra Full Hunt (4K) | IGN First – YouTube
The cool thing here is that everyone’s fight with Nu Udra will be different, so we may not all see the same animations. “It might not be easy to get the chance to see it, but the way it squirms around while wrapped around a pipe is so well made, too,” Tokuda says. “Only games are able to depict things like that in real-time instead of as some premade scene. I’m incredibly proud of it as a crystallization of the staff’s efforts.”
While the creature is a marvel to look at, it’ll be important not to get too engrossed in its grossness. “We’ve made it so that it has sensory organs at the tips of its tentacles that use light to indicate when and who it’s going to attack,” Tokuda explains. Also, “You can cut off so many tentacles,” so you’ll be able to whittle the creature down and turn it into fresh calamari in no time. That improved hitstop will feel so good as it cleaves through all those tentacles.

Monster Hunter Wilds has the creepiest octopus nightmare fuel I’ve seen since Bloodborne, and its director is “incredibly proud”
Fans of the Monster Hunter franchise were in for a terrifying surprise when the latest installment, Monster Hunter Wilds, introduced a new octopus-like monster that has been sending shivers down players’ spines. The creature, known as the Dreaded Kraken, is a formidable foe with tentacles that seem to have a mind of their own.
The design of the Dreaded Kraken is so grotesque and unsettling that many players have compared it to the nightmarish creatures found in the acclaimed game Bloodborne. Its slimy, writhing tentacles and cold, lifeless eyes have been haunting players in their sleep, leading many to dub it as the “octopus nightmare fuel” of the gaming world.
Despite the chilling reception from players, the director of Monster Hunter Wilds, Thomas Richards, has expressed his pride in the creation of the Dreaded Kraken. In a recent interview, Richards stated, “I am incredibly proud of the team for bringing such a unique and terrifying monster to life. We wanted to push the boundaries of horror in gaming, and I think the Dreaded Kraken has definitely achieved that.”
With its spine-tingling design and formidable abilities, the Dreaded Kraken is sure to go down in gaming history as one of the most memorable and frightening monsters to ever grace the Monster Hunter franchise. Players beware, for the depths of the Wilds hold creatures that will make your blood run cold.

Arch Manning doesn’t feel like he’s done enough as a college quarterback to be one of the most recognizable players in the sport.
In an interview with ESPN published Thursday, Manning touched on myriad topics ahead of his first season as Texas’ starting quarterback. The former five-star recruit was Quinn Ewers’ backup during the 2024 season and is set to be Texas’ No. 1 QB in 2025 with Ewers off to the NFL.
When asked what comes with his famous last name, the nephew of Super Bowl winners Peyton and Eli Manning and grandson of Archie Manning didn’t hesitate to talk about the attention he gets for being a Manning.
“I think a lot of undeserved attention,” Manning said. “But hopefully it gets more deserving in the next few months.
“I don’t think I’ve done enough yet to be taking a lot of pictures at restaurants and signing autographs. But maybe that will come eventually.”
Manning signed with the Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian ahead of the 2023 season as the top high school recruit in the country. He came to Austin with Ewers entrenched as the starter following his first season in Austin after a transfer from Ohio State.
Manning opened that season as the Longhorns’ No. 3 QB, but served as the primary backup when Ewers was sidelined because of a shoulder injury and in the College Football Playoff, when No. 2 QB Maalik Murphy transferred.
After some spot duty in 2023, Manning saw his first significant playing time in 2024 when Ewers suffered a strained oblique in September. Manning took over for Ewers against UTSA after Ewers was injured and started against Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State before Ewers returned for the annual rivalry game vs. Oklahoma.
Manning scored five touchdowns in that UTSA game, but had just eight others over the other nine games he appeared in across the 2024 season. He finished 63-of-95 passing for 969 yards and nine passing touchdowns with two interceptions.
Now, he’ll get a full offseason as the presumptive starter with Ewers off to the NFL. And it’s likely that the Texas offense we saw in 2024 will be considerably different in 2025. Manning — who said he believed his game most resembled his grandfather Archie’s — rushed for four touchdowns last season and is a more dynamic rushing threat than Ewers. We may not see Manning run a lot in 2025, but his ability to get first downs with his legs will assuredly be an integral part of the playbook.
“I think he fits his offense and his play-calling to his players,” Manning said of Sarkisian. “That’s what I like most about him. He’s smart and he’s innovative and he wants to win. He’s a competitive guy. He works really hard, prepares and he gets us in the right position to win games.”
Arch Manning, the star quarterback from Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, is making headlines once again. Despite being one of the most highly touted high school football players in the country, the humble 17-year-old is staying grounded and focused on his goals.
In a recent interview, Manning opened up about the attention and pressure that comes with being a member of the famous Manning football family. “I don’t think I’ve done enough yet to be taking a lot of pictures at restaurants and signing autographs,” he said. “I still have a lot of work to do and a lot to prove.”
Manning’s maturity and humility have earned him respect both on and off the field. With offers from top college football programs pouring in, he remains level-headed and focused on improving his game every day.
As he continues to navigate the spotlight and expectations that come with his last name, one thing is clear: Arch Manning is a rising star who is determined to let his performance on the field speak for itself. Watch out for this young talent as he continues to make waves in the football world.

“It has suppressed, in a great way, that noise … when I wake up, I feel hunger pains — and so much of that is psychological, right? — and what this does is it takes away that signal,” Gad said of the medication. GLP-1 is short for glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, which work in the brain to impact satiety. Popular brands are Ozempic and Mounjaro.

“It is a miracle drug,” he said, sharing that he’d lost 40 lbs. on a different drug, but had to switch after his former medication caused him to develop diverticulitis, an inflammation of irregular building pouches in the colon, according to the Mayo Clinic.
“I was really bummed out because it was working incredibly for me and I had to switch,” said Gad, who just released his memoir In Gad We Trust. “So, like, I’m you know figuring out this new one, and it is life-changing, but it also doesn’t negate the fact that it can’t be in the place of having a healthy relationship with food.”
Gad added, “It can’t be in the place of having a healthy relationship with exercise.”
When Shepard asked if the conversation topic was putting Gad on the spot, the Broadway alum explained that he was “really happy” to share that he was taking the medicine, saying, “I’m having my own journey with it. Sometimes I feel like I’m cheating myself by doing this.”

Gad explained he did have one concern with weight loss, saying, “I’ve always been the funny fat guy. Can I be the funny skinny guy? Can I be the hot leading man?”
“I don’t know that people would accept me as those things,” he said, adding that future roles are less of a concern “as I go on this journey of weight loss.”

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been known as the funny fat guy. I’ve used humor as a shield to deflect any negative comments about my weight, and it’s become a big part of my identity. But as I embark on my journey to lose weight and get healthier, I can’t help but wonder – can I still be the funny skinny guy?
It’s a strange feeling to think about shedding the protective layer of fat that has defined me for so long. Will people still find me funny when I’m no longer the lovable chubby guy cracking jokes? Will I be able to maintain my sense of humor without relying on my weight for laughs?
But as I’ve started to see progress on my weight loss journey, I’m beginning to realize that humor is not defined by size. Being funny is a part of who I am, regardless of what the scale says. And maybe, just maybe, I can be the funny skinny guy too.
So here’s to embracing change and redefining myself. I may have always been the funny fat guy, but I have the power to become whatever I want to be. And who knows, maybe being the funny skinny guy will come with its own set of jokes and laughs. Let’s find out together.
We recently published a list of Jim Cramer Looked At These 7 Stocks Recently. In this article, we are going to take a look at where Lam Research Corporation (NASDAQ:LRCX) stands against other stocks that Jim Cramer recently looked at.
Jim Cramer, host of Mad Money, recently shared his perspective on a few oil service stocks and the impact of President Donald Trump’s pro-drilling agenda. While Trump has rolled out extensive plans aimed at boosting the oil and gas industry, Cramer said that oil service stocks might not see immediate gains as a result.
“The whole oil and gas industry loves a ‘drill, baby, drill’ White House, but doesn’t automatically take up the oil service stocks, or the producers for that matter. After listening to what SLB and HAL had to say over the past week, considering the macro environment and the new geopolitical factors, I think their stocks can work over time, just perhaps not necessarily right now.”
Cramer further elaborated that President Trump’s public statements often feel like a non-stop “lightning round” of buys and sells. Wall Street, he said, enjoys the energy and excitement that comes with Trump’s rapid-fire ideas, even if they don’t always lead to actionable investment opportunities.
“If you’re a trader, Trump’s a dream come true. He generates a huge number of catalysts every time he talks. I don’t think most people should trade too hard unless you do it professionally, but this is heaven on earth for them.”
Cramer also pointed to historical examples, specifically drawing a comparison to President Ronald Reagan’s time in office. He recalled that Reagan’s vision of a 600-ship Navy led to significant profits for defense contractors. However, Cramer noted an important difference between Reagan’s and Trump’s approach: while Reagan’s statements were more measured, Trump’s style is fast-paced and unpredictable. Cramer sees this rapid-fire communication as both a challenge and an opportunity for market participants.
“I think we have to expect that President Trump will say something every day that gets a ton of coverage… We need to monitor these statements, but, look, we can’t expect all of them to generate actionable investing ideas, even if they do produce bullish animal spirits that boost the market.”
For this article, we compiled a list of 7 stocks that were discussed by Jim Cramer during the recent episode of Mad Money on January 23. We listed the stocks in ascending order of their hedge fund sentiment as of the third quarter, which was taken from Insider Monkey’s database of 900 hedge funds.
Why are we interested in the stocks that hedge funds pile into? The reason is simple: our research has shown that we can outperform the market by imitating the top stock picks of the best hedge funds. Our quarterly newsletter’s strategy selects 14 small-cap and large-cap stocks every quarter and has returned 275% since May 2014, beating its benchmark by 150 percentage points (see more details here).
Jim’s Take on Lam Research (LRCX): ‘The Cheapest I’ve Seen in a Long Time’
A technician operating an automated semiconductor processing machine with laser accuracy.
Number of Hedge Fund Holders: 58
During the episode, Cramer expressed enthusiasm about Lam Research Corporation (NASDAQ:LRCX) and emphasized that the stock is cheap.
“That stock is so cheap. Oh, I wanna buy it. I wanna buy. We have so much semi in the Charitable Trust, but that stock is so, the cheapest I’ve seen in a long time. I really like LRCX.”
Lam Research (NASDAQ:LRCX) operates in the semiconductor sector and specializes in the design, manufacturing, marketing, refurbishment, and maintenance of equipment used in integrated circuit production. At the time of writing, the stock has a forward P/E of 21.60. In October 2024, Cramer pointed out that the company is not solely tied to ASML’s performance. He mentioned that the company has already disclosed its level of exposure to China and has made adjustments by reducing it. Given these factors, Cramer expressed that he would consider buying the stock.
Vltava Fund, an investment management company, noted in its Q4 2024 investor letter that Lam Research (NASDAQ:LRCX) is a market leader in plasma etching, thin film deposition platforms, photoresist systems, as well as wet and plasma-based cleaning products for individual wafers. The fund mentioned the company’s ROCE, capital allocation, and more as it said:
“In the quarter just ended, we added to the portfolio two new companies from the technology sector: Applied Materials and Lam Research Corporation (NASDAQ:LRCX). Both are in the same industry as is another of our investments that we have held for some time, KLA Corporation. This industry is termed semiconductor devices and materials. One chapter in Hidden Investment Treasures is devoted to investing in technology companies and, among other things, the controversy over what really constitutes a technology company. As investors, we try to view technology companies not according to the industry into which they are formally classified but by whether the technologies and technological processes used in the production of their products and services are an essential element in value creation or if they are a source of long-term, sustainable competitive advantage. Among the companies that are formally categorized as technology-based and fall into either the Information Technology or the Communications Services sector, we find some that can be said to be just that but also others for which this classification is at least debatable. Similarly, among companies that do not formally belong to these two sectors, we find many that clearly are built to a large extent on technology and base their market positions and competitiveness on it. In the cases of Applied Materials and Lam Research, there can be no doubt that these are technology companies not only as a formality but also in fact.
Overall, LRCX ranks 3rd on our list of stocks that stocks that Jim Cramer recently looked at. Fubo TV initially offered better value than YouTube TV with access to local sports at a lower price.
A recent price increase by Fubo, making it more expensive than YouTube TV, eradicated this advantage.
YouTube TV dominates the live TV services market with over 8 million subscribers compared to Fubo’s 1.6 million.
After YouTube TV raised its price to close out 2024, I started testing out new live TV services. The first one I checked out was Fubo TV, and I came away with a very positive impression. It gave me access to local sports, a cheaper price, and a UI that had a lot in common with YouTube TV, so the transition wasn’t difficult.
Some downsides are a lower quality with much of the content coming in at 720p compared to YouTube TV’s 1080p, but outside of that, the two services were largely the same. Coupled with the lower cost, Fubo was better value for a lot of people. However, that’s not the case any longer. Thanks to price hikes across all Fubo TV plans, the least-expensive package is now $85 per month (not including the regional sports fee), which makes the service now more expensive than YouTube TV. For a service that’s fighting to gain market share from its competitors, going up to a price higher than a service that’s arguably better for a lot of people isn’t the best way of doing it.
I think one of the biggest advantages Fubo had over YouTube TV was the price. Even though it was by a small margin, it’s important to take wins where you can, and that was a place where it could definitively be used as a selling point. Unfortunately, it lasted for about a month. Another big thing working against Fubo was the lack of Turner networks like TBS and TNT, so the price was the main area that could secure a win for the platform.
There are still some nice features that Fubo offers, like a customizable multi-stream, but that’s more of a cherry on top instead of a clear selling point. With much of the content locked to 720p, price was the key factor and now the service doesn’t even have that. It’s a disappointing change for somebody who was hoping to save some cash.
Even when you broaden the horizons to other services, Fubo doesn’t really stack up anymore. Hulu + Live TV has a deal available for $83 that comes with not only a live TV plan, but subscriptions to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. The reality is that Fubo doesn’t provide a whole lot that other services don’t, and it makes a service that’s already viewed as an underdog become an even bigger one. Since YouTube TV just went up in price, it’s difficult to imagine it happening again so soon, so this price advantage could remain for the remainder of the year.
Rising costs are a problem for all services, and Fubo is far from the only one who has taken this path. Earlier this month, Netflix announced another price hike that makes the already costly streamer even more expensive.
See if you can save yourself from the YouTube TV price increase.
Fubo has a rocky road ahead
An uncertain future
The price change isn’t great news no matter how you slice it, but the company already has a complicated future. Earlier this month, Disney announced a purchase of the company, and it came as surprising news. Disney already has its own live TV service with Hulu, so adding another one to the umbrella is a head-scratcher.
The deal is still expected to take a year or so to actually go into effect, but it’s not clear what that means for both Hulu + Live TV and Fubo going further. Disney says the two services will remain independent of each other, so even when the deal closes you still have your pick between the two. You’d think the services would borrow from each other, like Hulu + Live TV adopting Fubo’s UI and multi-stream functionality, but it’s not clear if that’s going to be the case.
Speculation is fun to do and all, but there’s not a lot of sense in doing it this early considering how much can change. Ideally, I’d like to see the services take the best features from each other and become even better.
In the world of cable alternatives, Hulu and YouTube reign supreme, but one may be better for you.
YouTube TV needs a true challenger

For a myriad of reasons, YouTube TV reigns over all other live TV services. According to The Hollywood Reporter, YouTube TV boasts over eight million subscribers, while Hulu + Live TV lags far behind in second place with 4.6 million. Fubo, in comparison, has just 1.6 million. Even when you combine the two, they still come in way behind YouTube.
I can make a good argument that Hulu + Live TV is better value than YouTube TV thanks to the inclusion of all the streaming services for the same exact price, but it looks like I’d be in the minority based on the subscriber numbers. However, there’s a chance people don’t know the type of value Hulu offers, so there could be a marketing problem too. The reality is that YouTube TV does have challengers, but they haven’t been able to carve out a huge market share.
I’ll admit I stuck with YouTube TV for years without even looking into other options. I knew I wasn’t always getting the best deal, but I never thought much about it considering I was happy with the service. It wasn’t until the latest price increase that I finally took a step back to think about how little live TV I watched and how much I was paying for it.
The majority of the services cost around the same price, but there’s still one out there that comes in at a much lower price. That service is Sling TV, but it’s able to do so by completely dropping local channels like FOX, CBS, and ABC. You can soften the blow by picking up an antenna, something I actually did and enjoyed. The stream quality doesn’t match the heavy hitters, but if you’re looking for a cheaper way to watch live TV than what YouTube or Fubo offer, this is a good choice.
Anybody looking for something that has a similar UI to a regular cable subscription, has a wide selection of channels, and is easy to use, I hate to admit that it’s YouTube TV. This could change in the future, but YouTube TV, in my opinion, comes away the winner in that regard.
Hey there Fubo switchers, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you made the switch from YouTube TV to Fubo because of the cheaper price tag, you may be in for a surprise.
Recently, Fubo announced that they will be increasing their prices for both new and existing customers. This means that the cost savings you were enjoying may no longer be there.
It’s always frustrating when prices go up, especially when you made a switch specifically for affordability. But unfortunately, it seems like Fubo is following in the footsteps of other streaming services and raising their prices.
So, if you switched to Fubo for the cheaper price, it may be time to reevaluate your options and see if there is a better deal out there for you. It’s always important to keep an eye on your budget and make sure you’re getting the best value for your money.

“I was about to drop a tear,” Irving said about his reaction to reaching the 18,000 mark. “Just the past few years, the games that I’ve missed, and the injuries, I feel like I should have been at 18,000 a long time ago. It’s all God’s plan, so I’m not going to question it, but I’m grateful.” Reflecting on his career, Irving admitted he was surprised by the achievement as a smaller guard in the NBA. At 6-foot-2, he recognized the significance of his longevity and expressed his excitement to celebrate the milestone with his family. “When I heard that, I was like, ‘I’ve reached 18,000?’ That’s a lot of points in the best league in the world for a 6’1″ guard like myself. I’m excited to celebrate, not only with myself selfishly, but with my family, because they’ve been right there with me.” Source: Dallas Hoops Journal
Kyrie Irving, the star point guard for the Brooklyn Nets, recently achieved a major milestone in his career by reaching 18,000 career points in the NBA. In a post-game interview, Irving expressed his disbelief at reaching such a high number of points, especially as a 6-1 guard.
“I’ve reached 18,000 points? That’s a lot of points in the best league in the world for a 6-1 guard,” Irving said with a smile. “It’s truly humbling and I’m grateful for the opportunity to play at this level and contribute to my team.”
Irving’s scoring prowess and skill on the court have made him one of the most dynamic players in the league, and reaching 18,000 points is a testament to his talent and hard work. As he continues to make his mark in the NBA, fans can expect even more impressive feats from the dynamic guard. Congratulations to Kyrie Irving on this incredible accomplishment! #KyrieIrving #NBA #BrooklynNets #18KPoints
