Ex-Bills Pro Bowler calls out Ryan Clark for “race-baiting” in fiery Josh Allen-Lamar Jackson debate
Former professional football players Marcellus Wiley and Ryan Clark got into a heated exchange on the social media platform X on Wednesday over accusations of “race-baiting.”
It all started with a fairly innocuous tweet from Ryan Clark to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson after their playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
“You fought 8! Gave your team the chance. Had adversity in the first half & kept pushing. Did everything you had to in the 2nd half to earn extra minutes. That’s the way it goes when it’s good on good. This ain’t on you, you showed up in the most important moments @Lj_era8!” Clark wrote.
•

That tweet somehow upset Wiley, who went off on Clark on his podcast, “Dat Dude TV.”
“Do you all see the difference in tone and intention of RC after a Lamar Jackson loss with good numbers, versus a Josh Allen when he loses with good numbers?” Wiley said. “This is to point out the hypocrisy, the race-baiting of Ryan Clark.”
Wiley insinuated that Clark was holding Lamar Jackson to an easier standard because of skin color.
“What is the purpose of him race-baiting right here?” Wiley said. “It’s race for the riches. It’s result rhetoric. He knows that this will stir it up. He knows this is disingenuous.
“The truth of it is, Lamar Jackson played a great game. Josh Allen played a better game. Ryan Clark could have used this moment to show you quarterback wins isn’t a personal stat. It’s a team stat. This game showed Josh Allen didn’t play as well as Lamar Jackson, but it’s a team stat, he wins the win. He could have used it to do something profound.”
Former cornerback Clark caught wind of the segment and replied on X:
War of words between Marcellus Wiley and Ryan Clark continues on X
On Wednesday, the pair went back and forth multiple times on X. Wiley replied first with a photo of the two of them together at an event:
Clark then replied with a screenshot implying that an incident took place at the same event Wiley mentioned:
Wiley then replied, refusing to allow Ryan Clark the opportunity to discuss with him face-to-face:
Clark doubled down on a verbal spar. He also claimed to have called and DM’d Wiley:
This went on for several tweets, with Wiley standing by his statement but not engaging with Clark on the request for a conversation. Wiley also tweeted out a diss track, which Clark has yet to reply to:
It seemed like the debate over Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson has brought these two retired football players into conflict about off-field values. This is unlikely to be the last we hear of this feud.
Edited by R. Elahi
Former Buffalo Bills Pro Bowler, Marcell Dareus, took to social media to call out ESPN analyst Ryan Clark for “race-baiting” in a heated debate over quarterbacks Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. In a fiery exchange on ESPN’s “First Take,” Clark argued that Jackson’s success as a dual-threat quarterback should be celebrated and not criticized, while Allen’s perceived shortcomings were unfairly highlighted. Dareus, who played with both quarterbacks during his time in Buffalo, was quick to jump into the conversation and accuse Clark of stirring up racial tensions.
“Ryan Clark is out here race-baiting and trying to pit these two talented quarterbacks against each other based on their skin color,” Dareus wrote in a scathing post on Instagram. “We should be celebrating both Josh and Lamar for their unique skills and abilities, not tearing them down for the color of their skin.”
Dareus, who is known for his outspoken personality, did not hold back in his criticism of Clark, calling for a more respectful and fair discussion when comparing players of different backgrounds.
As the debate continues to rage on in the sports world, Dareus’ comments serve as a reminder that race should not be a factor in evaluating athletes and their accomplishments. It’s time to focus on the talent and hard work of players like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, rather than perpetuating divisive narratives based on race.

Rahm Emanuel and Jesse Jackson Jr. aren’t going anywhere
Jesse Jackson Jr. and Rahm Emanuel are two peas in a pod.
Say what, you say? Wondering where the twain meet with these veteran politicians? They may be radically different in myriad ways, but Jackson and Emanuel are the political players to watch as we enter the unprecedented era of all things Donald Trump.
Their origins and politics vastly differ. Emanuel, 65, is from Chicago’s North Shore, the son of a physician and an establishment mainline Democrat.
Jackson, 59, is a Chicago South Sider, Black progressive and son of a famed civil rights leader.
It is said that Trump’s second reign will dispatch the Democratic Party to the political wilderness. These two Democrats aren’t going anywhere.
They are back in Chicago, the city Trump hates most, and ready to roll. They share unparalleled moxie and are inveterate talkers, relentless political animals and decidedly controversial. That’s a potent mix that could keep them in eye of the political hurricanes ahead.
Jackson, as the son of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the civil rights warrior and founder of Rainbow PUSH, is a member of the most famous family in Black politics. That pedigree took him to Congress to represent Illinois’ 2nd District from 1995 to 2012, and, for a time, he was one of the most influential elected officials in Illinois. The younger Jackson rose to lofty heights, fueling talk that he could become the nation’s first Black speaker of the U.S. House or even its first Black president. (Others beat him to that punch.)
Instead, he took a life-changing fall. He was convicted of misusing campaign funds and given a 30-month federal prison term. He has also struggled with substance abuse and mental health challenges.
Emanuel, also known as “Rahmbo,” returns after three years as the U.S. ambassador to Japan. He also was a congressional power player when he represented Illinois’ 5th District from 2002 to 2008. He served as President Barack Obama’s chief of staff and two terms as Chicago’s mayor.
His mayoral record continues to dog him, including his decision to close nearly 50 Chicago public schools and half of the city’s mental health clinics. Emanuel was mayor at the time of the horrific police shooting of Laquan McDonald in 2014, and there is a widespread belief that he tried to cover it up, making him a pariah in progressives circles.
Rahm Emanuel, former U.S. ambassador to Japan and former Chicago mayor, speaks with guests before being honored at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs’ 21st annual Global Leadership Awards Dinner at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Dec. 3, 2024. (Tess Crowley/Chicago Tribune) Emanuel and Jackson have hordes of critics and rivals, but they won’t be looking over their shoulders.
They are back, loaded for bear, and ready to jump into Chicago’s wild and woolly politics. Jackson reemerged in Chicago last summer, grayer and hopefully wiser, as he made the rounds at at the Democratic National Convention. He made an all-out, frenetic bid for a pardon from departing President Joe Biden.
It failed. He has moved his redemption tour to the radio waves. In recent months, he has been guest hosting on WVON-AM 1690, Chicago’s Black talk radio. The station just hired him to host its afternoon drive time slot.
Jackson’s name, network and nose for news will stir the political mix. He recently hosted Michael Cohen, Trump’s notorious former fixer, on talk radio KBLA-AM 1580 in the Los Angeles area.
Perhaps a bid for elected office? While he is a convicted felon, he is legally free to run for federal office. Just ask Trump.
Former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. listens to a news conference given by his father, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, and then-presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition convention on July 2, 2019, in Chicago. (Stacey Wescott/Chicago Tribune) Emanuel returns from Japan with international street cred. He is set to do a lecture series this spring on foreign policy at the service academies of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force, according to a report in The Hill.
He has signed on as a contributing columnist to The Washington Post. Hours after TikTok was shut down Sunday morning, Emanuel appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” show to blast Trump for going soft on the social media juggernaut.
“Look, China is after Americans, gathering data, collecting data,” he declared. “There’s a reason the United States is getting rid of Chinese-manufactured cranes at our ports: because it collects data. Why would you let American children be influenced by China and their data collected?”
Closer to home, some are speculating that Emanuel might take another turn at a mayoral run. Brandon Johnson, look out.
A majority (56%) of Chicago residents agree that Chicago would be better off if Emanuel were currently the mayor of Chicago instead of Johnson, according to a Harris Poll taken in early December.
Jackson and Emanuel may be worlds apart politically, but these hard-nosed operators relish a fight.
There are big ones brewing in Chicago. These men will be front and center as voices of opposition and opportunity.

Woman indicted in crash that killed Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson
The Vikings honored Jackson throughout the season in the locker room and on the field.
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — A woman has been indicted in connection to a crash that killed Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson in July 2024.
In a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Prince George’s County (Maryland) state attorney Aisha Braveboy announced that a grand jury returned a 13-count indictment against Cori Clingman, including counts of vehicular manslaughter and driving while under the influence of alcohol. Braveboy said Clingman is currently in custody pending a bond review. She’s facing a maximum sentence of 30 years, according to Braveboy.
Police said Jackson was riding in a vehicle on July 6, 2024, in Maryland with two former high school teammates when another vehicle attempting to change lanes struck them at a high rate of speed. The two teammates, Isaiah Hazel and Anthony Lytton, Jr., were also killed.
“These were three young men who had gotten it right in life, who had amazing, bright futures ahead of them.” said Braveboy. “But on July 6, they were taken from all of us. … This was a horrific tragedy that should not have occurred.”
The Vikings honored Jackson throughout the season in the locker room and on the field. His locker and No. 31 jersey went unused, while players wore a decal with his initials.
Jackson, 24, was a fourth-round pick for the Vikings and was in the running to earn a starting spot after a strong showing at OTAs. He was a receiver in high school and helped lead his team to two state championships before attending Arizona Western Community College. He returned home after just a few weeks and eventually got so good at video games, that he considered pursuing a career as an NBA 2K League player.
He was training for a tournament when he got a call from Fort Scott Community College about returning to the football field. He spent one season at Fort Scott before transferring to East Mississippi Community College for the 2020 season, which was eventually canceled due to COVID. He soon joined Alabama, where his first start came in the 2021 national championship game, and one year later, he transferred to Oregon to finish his collegiate career.
“From the moment Khyree was drafted and showed up here, he had a unique journey up until that moment,” Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said in a press conference at the time of Jackson’s death.
“… Throughout the draft process and then his early time being a Minnesota Viking, you felt a guy that had such a laser focus on what his mission — his plan — was. And it really showed up in the spring. He had a very, very good spring, and was really looking forward to coming back to training camp and being well on his way to that path to having a big impact on our team for this year.”
In a tragic turn of events, a woman has been indicted in the crash that claimed the life of Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson. The young football player’s promising career was cut short in a devastating accident that has left his family, friends, and fans reeling. The details of the crash are still under investigation, but it is clear that this loss has had a profound impact on the community. Jackson was a talented athlete with a bright future ahead of him, and his untimely death has left a void that will be difficult to fill.
As we await further developments in this case, let us remember Khyree Jackson and the impact he had on those around him. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.

Lamar Jackson Wins Pro Football Writers of America MVP Award
Lamar Jackson will find out next month if he wins the NFL’s Most Valuable Player Award for the third time, but he appears to be on his way.
Writers who cover the league most regularly have given him their nod. The Professional Football Writers of America named Jackson the 2024 NFL’s Most Valuable Player in voting conducted by PFWA members.
It’s another indication that Jackson is the favorite to be named the league’s MVP again during Super Bowl week. When he was named the league’s MVP in 2019 and 2023, Jackson was also named the PFWA’s MVP.
Leading Baltimore to its second straight AFC North title, Jackson was first-team All-Pro and set career highs for passing yards (4,172), touchdown passes (41), quarterback rating (119.6) and completions (316).
He led the league in rushing yards by a quarterback (915) and became the first player in league history with at least 4,000 passing yards and 800 rushing yards. He also became the league’s all-time rushing leader at quarterback with 6,173 yards, surpassing the previous record held by Michael Vick (6,109).
Jackson’s third MVP from the PFWA ties him with quarterback Tom Brady (2007, 2010 and 2017) for second-most in the organization’s history. Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers received the award four times from the PFWA.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who led the NFL with 2,005 rushing yards, was named PFWA Offensive Player of the Year. Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II, who surrendered the fewest receiving yards at his position when targeted by opposing quarterbacks, was named PFWA Defensive Player of the Year.
Lamar Jackson Wins Pro Football Writers of America MVP AwardIn a historic moment for the NFL, Lamar Jackson has been named the Pro Football Writers of America MVP for the 2019 season. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback had a phenomenal year, leading his team to a 14-2 record and securing the top seed in the AFC playoffs.
Jackson’s electrifying playmaking ability and dynamic dual-threat skills set him apart from the competition, as he became the first player in NFL history to throw for over 3,000 yards and rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season. His 36 touchdown passes and 7 rushing touchdowns solidified his status as the league’s most valuable player.
The PFWA MVP award is a prestigious honor voted on by members of the media who cover the NFL, making it a true testament to Jackson’s exceptional performance on the field. With this latest accolade, Jackson cements his place as one of the brightest young stars in the league and a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
Congratulations to Lamar Jackson on this well-deserved recognition as the PFWA MVP, and here’s to many more incredible seasons ahead. #LamarJackson #PFWA #MVP #NFL
