Report: Jerry Jones has spoken informally to Pete Carroll about Cowboys’ head coaching job
The Cowboys’ search for a new head coach could best be described as a soap opera.
Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer may be negotiating to become the 10th head coach of the team, but now comes intriguing and interesting news.
Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Jones has spoken with former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll regarding the opening. Harris described the conversation “as informal, although the interest is legitimate enough to be reported.”
There are no plans for a formal interview, per Harris.
Jones began the search with a conversation with Colorado coach Deion Sanders that has gone nowhere since.
Seattle assistant Leslie Frazier, former Jets head coach Robert Saleh and Schottenheimer are the only in-person interviews Jones has conducted. Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore had a virtual interview since his team remains in the playoffs.
Schottenheimer worked for Carroll from 2018-20, so it’s possible Jones’ conversation with Carroll was about Schottenheimer. Schottenheimer has spent the past three seasons in Dallas, including serving as offensive coordinator the past two. He did not call the plays under Mike McCarthy.
Carroll, 73, wants to return to the NFL after a year off. He has 18 seasons of NFL head coaching experience and won a Super Bowl in 2013.
Jones’ previous eight hires were familiar faces to Jones and/or previous head coaches. If Schottenheimer is hired, he would follow the hires of Dave Campo and Jason Garrett as coaches on the Cowboys staff who were promoted to head coach.
According to sources close to the Dallas Cowboys organization, team owner Jerry Jones has reportedly reached out informally to Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll about the Cowboys’ head coaching job.Jones is said to be considering all options as he looks to move on from current head coach Mike McCarthy, who has failed to meet expectations in his first season with the team. Carroll, a seasoned and successful head coach with a Super Bowl win under his belt, could be a top candidate for the job.
While no official offer has been made, the fact that Jones has even spoken to Carroll shows that he is serious about making a change at the head coaching position. It remains to be seen whether Carroll would be interested in leaving Seattle for Dallas, but this development is certainly one to keep an eye on as the Cowboys look to turn their season around.

Dallas Cowboys coaching search: Who will be the next head coach under Jerry Jones?
After five seasons with Mike McCarthy at the helm, the Dallas Cowboys are on the hunt for a new head coach.
The next head coach will be tasked with succeeding where so many of his predecessors have failed. The Cowboys last won a Super Bowl after the 1995 season under Barry Switzer, who coached the team that Jimmy Johnson built to its third championship in four seasons.
Since Switzer resigned in 1998, six Cowboys coaches have accounted for a total of four playoff wins in 27 seasons that include zero appearances in the Super Bowl or the NFC championship game. Despite that history, expectations will remain high in Dallas with a roster that’s built and paid to win now, featuring high-priced offensive weapons Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb and defensive star Micah Parsons, who’s due for his own lucrative contract extension.
Those expectations will feature not only returning to but winning a Super Bowl in Dallas to bookend the Jones era with at least one more Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The offseason coaching carousel is in full swing with the news that the Chicago Bears are hiring former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, in addition to Mike Vrabel joining the New England Patriots. That leaves the Cowboys as one of five teams still in search of a head coach alongside the New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders.
Deion Sanders is one of several names linked to the Cowboys’ head-coaching vacancy. (AP/Rick Scuteri, file) Who are the Cowboys’ coaching candidates?
While the other four teams each have a lengthy list of candidate interviews, the Cowboys have officially interviewed just three candidates: former Jets head coach Robert Saleh, former Minnesota Vikings head coach and Seattle Seahawks assistant Leslie Frazier and Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who held the same position in Dallas from 2019-22.
They’re also reportedly planning to interview their own offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer, according to multiple reports.
The Cowboys are also reportedly tied to other candidates, including former players Deion Sanders and Jason Witten. Witten has won two state championships in four seasons as a high school coach in Texas since retiring in 2020 from a 17-season NFL career as a tight end for the Cowboys and Raiders. He has no coaching experience beyond the high school level.
Sanders played 14 Hall of Fame seasons as an NFL cornerback, including a five-year stint and a Super Bowl championship with the Cowboys. He’s since embarked on a college coaching career that’s taken him from Jackson State to Colorado, where he’s spent the last two seasons coaching the Buffaloes to a 13-12 record.
Schottenheimer has emerged as a betting favorite to secure the job, for whatever that’s worth. Betting lines, of course, don’t necessarily reflect what’s happening in the building. But like Sanders and Witten, Schottenheimer has familiarity with Jones, which historically goes a long way in Jones’ hiring decisions.
The Dallas Cowboys coaching search is heating up as the search for the next head coach under owner Jerry Jones continues. With Jason Garrett officially out as head coach, speculation is swirling about who will be the next leader of America’s Team.Names like Urban Meyer, Lincoln Riley, and Josh McDaniels have all been floated as potential candidates for the coveted position. Meyer, a three-time national championship-winning coach at the collegiate level, has been rumored to be Jones’ top choice. Riley, the head coach at the University of Oklahoma, has a strong track record of developing quarterbacks and innovative offensive schemes. McDaniels, the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots, has previous head coaching experience with the Denver Broncos.
Whoever takes the reins as the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys will have big shoes to fill, as the expectations for success are always high in Dallas. With a talented roster in place, the new head coach will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact and lead the team back to the promised land of Super Bowl glory.
Stay tuned as the coaching search unfolds and the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is revealed. Who do you think will be the next leader on the sidelines in Dallas? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. #DallasCowboys #HeadCoachSearch #JerryJones

FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys are in the early stages of their search to replace Mike McCarthy as head coach, but one name is already known: former Cowboys cornerback and current Colorado coach Deion Sanders.
A source said Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones and Sanders spoke Monday, and while an interview has not been scheduled, the two are expected to continue their dialogue. Fox Sports first reported the conversation between the two sides.
Sanders was linked to a Cowboys job that was not even open in the fall.
“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing,” Sanders told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday night. “I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
Sanders just completed his second season at Colorado, where he has posted a 13-12 record, including a 9-4 mark in 2024 during which the Buffaloes had the Heisman Trophy winner in wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
In November, Sanders was asked about potential interest from NFL teams.
“I’m happy where I am, man,” Sanders said. “I’ve got a kickstand down. You know what a kickstand is? … That means I’m resting. I’m good, I’m happy, I’m excited. I’m enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here, truly do.”
Sanders received a five-year, $29.5 million contract when he was hired at Colorado in late 2022 after his successful run at Jackson State.
Sanders played five seasons of his Hall of Fame career for the Cowboys, helping the team win Super Bowl XXX in 1996 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He remained in north Texas after his playing career ended, and he has maintained a close relationship with the Jones family.
Per the NFL’s Rooney Rule, teams must interview two external minority head coach candidates in their search.
The Cowboys announced Monday that they and McCarthy would part ways after five seasons. McCarthy posted a 49-35 regular-season record, including a 7-10 mark this season.
Rules prohibit any interviews to be scheduled yet, but McCarthy is expected to interview with the Chicago Bears as early as Wednesday, according to multiple sources. The New Orleans Saints also are expected to interview McCarthy.
In a surprising turn of events, Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, has reportedly been in talks with former Cowboys legend Deion Sanders about potentially taking on the head coaching role for America’s Team.Sanders, a Hall of Famer and one of the most electrifying players in NFL history, has recently made a name for himself as a successful college football coach at Jackson State University. His charisma and football knowledge have garnered attention from NFL teams, and now it seems the Cowboys are interested in bringing him back to Dallas in a new capacity.
Jones and Sanders are said to have had a series of discussions about the coaching position, with Jones reportedly impressed by Sanders’ vision for the team and his ability to connect with players. While nothing has been confirmed yet, the idea of Sanders leading the Cowboys from the sidelines has fans buzzing with excitement.
Could Prime Time be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure – the possibility of Sanders returning to the Cowboys in a coaching role is certainly an intriguing one. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story. #DallasCowboys #DeionSanders #JerryJones #CoachingRumors

#Jerry #Jones #talks #Deion #Sanders #Cowboys #coaching #jobNFL divisional round playoff overreactions: Travis Kelce better than Jerry Rice? Chiefs aided by officials?
The first day of the divisional round of the playoffs was a thriller around the NFL. The Washington Commanders had a massive upset victory over the Detroit Lions and advanced to the conference championship game for the first time since 1991, all behind the rookie sensation in Jayden Daniels. Washington will play the winner of the Philadelphia eagles and Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game next week.
The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans in the early game to advance to their seventh consecutive conference championship game — or every season Patrick Mahomes has been a starter. The Chiefs will host the Buffalo Bills or the Baltimore Ravens next week.
With the exciting divisional round matchups on Saturday concluded, there are plenty of overreactions to be had. Which are overreactions and which are reality?
Jayden Daniels is having the best postseason ever for a rookie QB
Overreaction or reality: Reality
What Daniels has done in two postseason games is the stuff legends are made of. The No. 6-seeded Commanders defeated the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay then beat the No. 1-seeded Lions in Detroit, making Daniels the third rookie quarterback to play in the conference championship game.
Daniels hasn’t game managed his way there either. Daniels is the first player since the 1970 merger with 250+ passing yards, 2+ passing touchdowns, and zero interceptions in each of his first two playoff games. He’s the third player with 500+ passing yards, 75+ rushing yards, 4+ passing touchdowns and zero interceptions through the first two games of a postseason — joining Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.
The Commanders are in the conference championship game for the first time in 33 years because of Daniels, playing like a top-five quarterback in Year 1. Daniels and the Commanders have a bright future.
Lions Super Bowl window is closed
Overreaction or reality: Overreaction
The Lions were the team to beat in the NFC with the No. 1 seed and a 15-2 record. This was their best chance to win a Super Bowl, and they were in position to win one with the playoffs going through Detroit. With this divisional playoff loss to the Commanders, is the Super Bowl window closed?
The core of this team with Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs and Penei Sewell are back. Aidan Hutchinson and many other key defensive starters will be healthy as well (the Lions had six defensive starters on injured reserve and 16 total players). Detroit still has a top-three offensive line in football and one of the most explosive offenses, whether Ben Johnson returns as offensive coordinator or not.
The Lions will lose some key coaches (Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn most likely), so they’ll take a hit there. There are some questions whether Goff is good enough to win this team a Super Bowl, but this team will be in the mix to compete for a Super Bowl in 2025. The window is not closed yet.
Jared Goff isn’t good enough to win the Lions a Super Bowl
Overreaction or reality: Overreaction
Goff is a good enough quarterback to win Detroit a Super Bowl championship, but turnovers and subpar play in big games have been his downfall. Goff threw three interceptions — one returned for a touchdown — and had a fumble lost in Saturday’s loss to the Commanders.
The Lions may have to protect Goff from himself going forward, making him a game manager in big games instead of a gun slinger. Goff has been to a Super Bowl and two conference championship games in his career, yet has a 4-5 postseason record. Heading into Saturday, Goff’s 0.6 interception rate was the lowest in NFL playoff history — which evaporated because of his poor performance.
Detroit committed to Goff and gave him $53 million a year for the next four years. They’ll roll with Goff going forward and Goff will have multiple opportunities to avenge this playoff loss. Going forward, Detroit probably should not rely on him throwing 40+ times in a playoff game.
Travis Kelce is the best receiver to ever play in the postseason
Overreaction or reality: Reality
Kelce added to his postseason legend in Saturday’s win, catching seven passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in the victory. Kelce passed Jerry Rice for the most 100-yard games by any player in the postseason (nine) and has 14 straight playoff games with 70+ receiving yards — double the amount of the next highest player (Antonio Brown has seven).
Kelce has 2,020 receiving yards, and 20 receiving touchdowns in his playoff career — only Rice has more with 2,245 and 22 touchdowns. At 35 years old, Kelce could pass Rice as soon as this season — and he’s already in striking distance of Rice.
Both Kelce and Rice have three Super Bowl titles and are the No. 1 options for each of their Super Bowl championship teams. Kelce also has the most receptions by any player in postseason history (172) — and has these numbers in six fewer playoff games than Rice.
When it comes to the postseason, no one is a better pass catcher than Kelce.
Andy Reid will set the NFL all-time wins record for coaches
Overreaction or reality: Reality
Reid notched his 300th career win (regular and postseason) with the Chiefs beating the Texans on Saturday, becoming the fourth head coach in NFL history to hit 300 career wins. Only three head coaches have more career wins than Reid: Don Shula (347), Bill Belichick (333), and George Halas (324). The all-time wins record is well within reach.
Reid only needs 48 wins to pass Shula and is only 66 years old. The Chiefs win an average of 13 regular-season games a season since Patrick Mahomes became the starting quarterback — and this isn’t including the 16 postseason wins. Counting the postseason, the Chiefs win an average of 15 games a year.
Reid only needs three more seasons at that pace to get within five wins of the all-time record, something he can pass by the 2028 season (he would be 70). Assuming Reid doesn’t retire prior to then, he will pass Shula for the most wins by a head coach — and may have a few more championships by then.
Officials are why the Chiefs won
Overreaction or reality: Overreaction
Social media was buzzing with how the officiating crew were in favor of the Chiefs in Saturday’s win, particularly Patrick Mahomes. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans added fuel to the fire by saying in his postgame press conference — “It was us versus everybody. When I say everybody, I mean everybody.” — implying the officials had calls in favor of the Chiefs.
This isn’t way the Chiefs won the game. The Texans allowed eight sacks in the divisional round loss, allowed a 63-yard kickoff return on the opening play of the game that led to three points, had a 35-yard field goal blocked, and missed a 55-yard field goal in the 23-14 loss (nine points given up right there). Houston was also 1 of 3 in the red zone, not having a single goal-to-go situation.
Houston made enough mistakes on Saturday not to advance to the conference championship game. Losses don’t need to be blamed on the officials, especially if Ryans was implying that was the case.
The NFL divisional round playoffs always bring out some wild reactions from fans and analysts alike. This weekend was no exception, with the Kansas City Chiefs pulling off a thrilling comeback win over the Buffalo Bills. But are some of the reactions going too far?One hot take making the rounds is the idea that Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is better than legendary receiver Jerry Rice. While Kelce is undoubtedly one of the best tight ends in the game right now, comparing him to Rice, who is widely considered the greatest receiver of all time, seems like a stretch. Rice holds numerous records and won three Super Bowls during his career, while Kelce is still chasing his first ring.
Another controversial topic from the Chiefs-Bills game is the idea that Kansas City was aided by the officials. There were several questionable calls throughout the game, including a crucial pass interference call that went in favor of the Chiefs. Some fans are crying foul and accusing the officials of favoring the reigning Super Bowl champions. While it’s natural for fans to feel frustrated when calls don’t go their team’s way, it’s important to remember that officiating is a difficult job and mistakes will happen.
In the end, it’s important to take a step back and consider the bigger picture. Travis Kelce is a phenomenal player, but comparing him to Jerry Rice is a bit premature. And while officiating can certainly impact the outcome of a game, it’s just one factor among many. Let’s enjoy the excitement of the playoffs and leave the overreactions behind.

NFL playoff touchdowns record: How Travis Kelce can pass Jerry Rice for most TD catches in history
Travis Kelce and the Chiefs‘ blend of longevity and dominance has the tight end on the verge of NFL history.
Kelce has had the luxury of appearing in the playoffs in nine of his prior 11 NFL seasons as a member of the Chiefs. In his rookie year in 2013, injuries held him back from playing for Kansas City throughout its season, including its loss in the wild-card round. In 2014, Kelce’s squad missed the bracket despite a 9-7 record.
Since then, Kelce has been catching passes in NFL playoff games on an annual basis, most of them coming from Patrick Mahomes. Now, as he enters his 10th playoff run with Kansas City in Year 12, Kelce is inching closer to Jerry Rice’s all-time playoff touchdowns record.
As the Chiefs look to take down the Texans in the AFC divisional round to begin a potential run to a three-peat, here’s a look at where Kelce stands in his pursuit of Rice’s historic playoff record.

Most touchdowns in NFL playoffs history
Rice leads all players in NFL history with 22 receiving touchdowns in the playoffs. In the divisional round of the playoffs, Kelce added another touchdown to his ledger, giving him 20 all-time — and three away from claiming the new receiving touchdowns record.
Here’s the leaderboard of all-time playoff touchdown receptions:
Rank Player Team(s) Years Playoff rec. Rice’s 22 scores are also the most total touchdowns in playoff history, followed by Emmitt Smith and Thurman Thomas, who are tied with 21.
Kelce ranks second on the playoff touchdown receptions list, but he ranks fourth on the total playoff touchdowns leaderboard with 20.

Travis Kelce vs. Jerry Rice playoff stats
Note: NFL all-time rank in parentheses.
Games Receptions Yards TDs Jerry Rice 29 151 (2nd) 2,245 (1st) 22 (1st) Travis Kelce 22 172 (1st) 2,020 (2nd) 20 (2nd) Entering the 2025 playoffs, had already claimed one of Rice’s all-time playoff records. With 10 catches in the 2024 AFC Championship game against the Ravens, Kelce moved into first place on the all-time playoff receptions list.
However, with seven fewer playoff games under his belt, Kelce trails Rice in both playoff receiving yards and touchdown catches. On both leaderboards, Kelce ranks second. On top of the three-touchdown difference between Rice and Kelce, the Chiefs tight end would become the NFL’s all-time leading playoff receiver with 343 more yards.
Kelce, 35, may not have a ton of time left in the NFL, but he still remains one of the league’s top tight ends. In the regular season, he posted 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns.
It could take just one more deep playoff run for Kelce to surpass Rice in all three major playoff receiving categories, only furthering his future argument as a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
NFL fans, get ready for a potential record-breaking moment in playoff history! As we head into the NFL playoffs, all eyes are on Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce as he inches closer to surpassing the legendary Jerry Rice for the most touchdown catches in postseason history.Currently, Jerry Rice holds the record with an impressive 22 playoff touchdown receptions. However, Kelce is not too far behind, with 11 playoff touchdowns under his belt. With his exceptional talent and chemistry with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Kelce has the potential to make history this postseason.
Kelce has been a dominant force on the field, showcasing his exceptional route-running, hands, and athleticism. His ability to create mismatches with defenders and find the end zone consistently makes him a threat in any game situation.
As the Chiefs look to defend their Super Bowl title, all eyes will be on Kelce as he aims to break this historic record. Will he be able to surpass Jerry Rice and etch his name in NFL playoff history? Chiefs TE Travis Kelce posts record ninth 100-yard playoff game, breaks tie with Hall of Famer Jerry Rice
The accomplishment puts Kelce’s career greatness into perspective once again, but it also comes at a time when many have doubted just how much is left in the tank for the 35-year-old three-time Super Bowl champion. Before he hit 100, Kelce also hauled in a 49-yard reception in the first half — the longest of his postseason career — and turned in his 14th straight playoff game with 70-plus receiving yards, extending his already long established record.
Kelce’s a 10-time Pro Bowler and a four-time All-Pro whose 1,004 career receptions are third all time for a tight end, just as his 12,151 receiving yards are. His 77 receiving touchdowns are fifth.
Of course, those are regular-season numbers. And Kelce’s 2024 regular season was pedestrian by his standards with 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns — the latter two his lowest totals since a one-game rookie year.
As Mahomes said, and prognosticated, though, Kelce stepped up as they great ones often do.
On Sunday, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce made history once again, posting his record ninth 100-yard playoff game in a thrilling victory over the Buffalo Bills. Kelce’s impressive performance not only helped propel the Chiefs to the AFC Championship game, but also broke a tie with Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the most 100-yard playoff games by a tight end.Kelce’s dominance on the field has been nothing short of remarkable, solidifying his status as one of the best at his position in NFL history. His combination of size, speed, and hands make him a nightmare matchup for defenses, and he has consistently delivered in the biggest moments.
As the Chiefs continue their quest to defend their Super Bowl title, Kelce will undoubtedly be a key factor in their success. With his record-breaking performance against the Bills, Kelce has once again proven why he is considered one of the elite players in the league. Congratulations to Travis Kelce on this impressive milestone!

Jerry Jeudy, ridiculous mistakes among Browns-Dolphins Takeaways
CLEVELAND — There was one play on which Jerry Jeudy managed to get one foot down on a leaping sideline catch in the second quarter of Sunday’s 20-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins. The problem was the Browns wide receiver couldn’t get the second one down to complete the catch.
On the very next play, Jeudy was targeted on a swing pass he couldn’t hold onto. Not only that, but it was initially ruled a lateral and a Miami fumble recovery.
Jeudy set career highs in targets (18) and receptions (12) on Sunday against the Dolphins. However, plays like those two were what stuck with him at the end of the night.
“The plays that you drop are going to be the one that’s in your head,” Jeudy said. “I just have to keep playing, not focus on those drops, just keep playing. Unfortunately, we didn’t come out with a win.”
The one that really stuck in Jeudy’s head was the Browns’ third-and-6 play to open the third quarter. He had managed to get inside position on a slant route against Miami cornerback Jalen Ramsey, only to drop the ball and lead to a punt.
Jeudy and Ramsey crossed paths again on the third play of the fourth quarter. This time, Ramsey broke up a fourth-down pass to Jeudy in the end zone from the Miami 3 that could have cut into a 13-3 lead.
“Hell, yeah, I’m frustrated,” Jeudy said. “They were crucial downs. The first one was a big deep over route that would have been a big play. The under (route) third down, and the bubble (screens), I’m just too ready to make a play. I can’t have those drops like that.”
The fifth-year wide receiver finished with 92 yards on his 12 catches. The 18 targets and 12 catches came on a heels of last Sunday’s game in Cincinnati where, in quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s first start of the season, he was targeted just three times with two catches for 20 yards.
On Sunday, whether or not it was intentional, the second-year quarterback seemed to be trying to get the ball to Jeudy, who has 1,166 receiving yards this season, the sixth-highest single-season total for a Browns pass catcher.
“DT threw some great balls today,” Jeudy said. “I’ve just got to make a play on it, I’ve got to catch it. I thought he did a great job. I’ve just got to play better for him.”
‘Ridiculous’ mistakes continue to compound Cleveland Browns
The theme for the Browns this season has been mistakes. There are turnovers, then there are penalties and then there are the miscellaneous missed assignments and mental errors that have led to their worst season since 2017.
That’s coming off of an 11-win season and trip to the AFC playoffs just a year ago. The eight-win drop-off is the largest from one season to the next in franchise history.
“It’s not pretty at all,” safety Grant Delpit said. “It’s pretty ridiculous, as a matter of fact, given our expectations coming into this year. We have to fix it in the offseason and come back ready to win.”
Delpit pointed to the way mistakes seem to compound on each other. It wasn’t just about the offense stacking miscue on top of miscue.
All three phases had their hand in creating the dismal avalanche that ultimately buried the Browns.
“Just seeing the snowball effect,” Delpit said. “One turned into two, turned into three, turned into four. That’s just how the theme of the year went. We didn’t do a good job of stopping the snowball effect.”
Isaiah McGuire continues to finish strong for Cleveland Browns
Looking for a player who has made the most of late-season opportunities with the Browns? Take a look at second-year defensive end Isaiah McGuire.
McGuire picked up his second sack in as many games against Miami. Beyond that, he had two tackles for loss and three quarterback hits.
“Like I said, control what you can control,” McGuire said, “continue to push forward, continue to see where you can get better as an individual to help the team. I know I could have played better and just to look at the film after this and continue to keep going.”
McGuire has 2.5 sacks and forced three fumbles this season. He’s seen his playing time increase substantially the last couple of weeks because of a knee injury to Ogbo Okoronkwo.
Key injuries piling up for Cleveland Browns as season reaches final week
The Browns are a beat-up group going into the season finale at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Baltimore against the Ravens. That’s not even taking into account the three players — tight end David Njoku (knee), Okoronkwo (knee) and wide receiver Cedric Tillman (concussion) — who did not play Sunday.
Running back Jerome Ford suffered an ankle injury with 6:02 remaining in the second quarter. He did come back in the game, but only sparingly.
On top of that, Ford’s backup, Pierre Strong Jr., left the game at the two-minute warning to be evaluated for a concussion. There was no immediate update on his status, although Ford was ready for anything.
“Same way we always handle it,” Ford said. “Back to work. Next man up.”
The bigger concerns were on the defense. Both cornerback Denzel Ward and linebacker Jordan Hicks were injured late in the first half.
Ward suffered a shoulder injury and was immediately ruled out. Hicks was ruled out with a concussion.
“Yeah, it’s way too early to tell on injuries,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said.

Jerry Jeudy, the star wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, made some ridiculous mistakes during the Browns-Dolphins game that left fans and analysts scratching their heads. One of the most glaring errors was a dropped pass in the end zone that would have given the Broncos a crucial touchdown. Jeudy, known for his sure hands and precise route running, seemed to have lost focus in a critical moment.
In another play, Jeudy ran the wrong route, resulting in an interception by the opposing team. This mistake proved costly for the Broncos, as it gave the Browns-Dolphins a prime scoring opportunity.
Despite these errors, Jeudy still managed to make some impressive plays, showcasing his speed and agility. However, his mistakes were too significant to overlook, leaving fans wondering what went wrong for the usually reliable receiver.
Overall, the Browns-Dolphins game was full of twists and turns, but Jerry Jeudy’s mistakes stood out as some of the most baffling moments of the matchup. Hopefully, he can bounce back from this performance and continue to showcase his talents in future games.

Jerry Jeudy’s Numbers Don’t Tell Full Story
Since taking over as the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback, Dorian Thompson-Robinson has struggled mightily, and this has led to a decrease in production for wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who was thriving with Jameis Winston under center. Despite a downtick in his number over the past two games, Jeudy has continued to get open at a high level, providing more reason for optimism that he’ll provide whichever passer starts in 2025 an explosive primary target.
In Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Jeudy hauled in two of only three targets all game, but still got open consistently, including wide open for a touchdown on a play early in the fourth quarter that resulted in an interception. Whether it was schemed quick throws, instant pressure, or DTR simply not seeing him, the stat sheet does not accurately reflect Jeudy’s performance.
Against the Miami Dolphins the next week, Jeudy had the opposite problem. Instead of essentially not getting the ball at all, he was force-fed throughout to the tune of 18 targets, the highest total of his career and (appears to be) the most a Cleveland receiver has been targeted in a single game since Josh Gordon was thrown at 17 times in Week 3 of the 2013 season, and Jeudy’s total is likely a franchise record.
Is that a good thing? Probably not, since based on the tape, it seemed like DTR was hyper-focused on trying to get the ball to Jeudy and to not allow a repeat of the previous game. This led to him throwing to Jeudy when he should not have, whether that was because Jeudy wasn’t open, or there was simply a better option elsewhere on the field.
However, that doesn’t mean that Jeudy was undeserving of a high volume of targets last week. He got open at a solid clip, though he did have three drops, bringing his season total to eight. That gives him a drop percentage of 8.7%, which is unfortunately his highest mark since his rookie season.
Jerry Jeudy may not have eye-popping statistics this season, but his impact on the field goes beyond the numbers. The Denver Broncos wide receiver has faced challenges this season, including injuries and inconsistent quarterback play, that have hindered his ability to put up big stats. However, anyone who watches Jeudy play can see his talent and potential.Despite the obstacles, Jeudy has shown flashes of brilliance on the field. His route running is crisp and precise, his speed is undeniable, and his hands are reliable. He has the ability to create separation from defenders and make big plays when given the opportunity. While his numbers may not be as impressive as some other receivers in the league, Jeudy’s impact on the game cannot be overlooked.
It’s important to remember that football is a team sport, and individual statistics don’t always tell the full story. Jerry Jeudy may not have the gaudy numbers of some of his peers, but his contributions to the Broncos go beyond the box score. As he continues to develop and grow as a player, there’s no doubt that his numbers will reflect the talent and potential that he possesses. So don’t be fooled by the stats – Jerry Jeudy is a force to be reckoned with on the football field.
