  • Ye Wears Dipset Chain While Linking With Jim Jones in Tok…

Jim Jones says he’s “high on integrity” after meeting up with the artist formerly known as Kanye West in Tokyo, Japan over the weekend.

The Diplomats alum, soon set to release his recently teased “JOMO” track, shared a photo with Ye and Justin LaBoy on Sunday, pairing the update with a lengthy caption suggesting he’s heard at least some of what Ye has in store for Bully this year.

“This is about believing in yourself when no one else will,” Jones told fans when sharing the photo in question, credited to Sage English. “I’m a student and a teacher. This past five days, I was the student. I learned so much about character. Never judge unless you wearing a black robe.”

Speaking on Bully, specifically, Jones cautioned against other artists who may have their own releases on the calendar, advising them to avoid going up against the first solo Ye album since 2021’s Donda. A release date for the project, however, has not been publicly announced.

“This album so crazy,” Jones said. “I wouldn’t drop if I was y’all, or drop now ‘cause when he drops, this is gon’ be a big problem. We not taking no for answers. We are the BULLY.”

In the photo, notably, Ye is seen wearing a Dipset chain. On his own IG, Ye shared a photo of the chain, writing, simply, “DIPSET.” See more below.

The Diplomats, of course, were at one time signed to Roc-A-Fella Records, which Ye too called home for much of his career. In recent months, Cam’ron and Jim Jones have again been publicly at odds, with such issues expected to be addressed on the latter’s aforementioned “JOMO,” out Friday.

As for Bully, fans have been given no shortage of teasers, starting around the launch of last year’s second Vultures album with Ty Dolla Sign. While a previously announced third Vultures entry had been roundly assumed to be called off in the run-up to Bully, recent remarks from Ty would suggest that both projects could see a 2025 release after all.

  • Kanye West Aligns Himself in Jim Jones-Cam’Ron Tensions

Amid the recent feud between Jim Jones and Cam’Ron, Kanye West has reportedly taken a stance in the ongoing drama. The former Dipset collaborators have thrown numerous jabs at each other in the recent weeks, with Jim Jones even going as far as teasing a diss track towards Cam’Ron. Nonetheless, Kanye and Jones were spotted in Tokyo over the weekend, partying in a nightclub as they shared new music clothing together.

The Harlem artist shared an Instagram photo of the visit, adding in the caption: “We out here playin BULLY BALL only shot u don’t make is th shot u don’t take. This is about believing in yourself when no one else will.” “I’m a student and A teacher this past 5 days I was th student I learned so much about character never judge unless u wearing a black robe.”

Capo followed up by hyping Ye’s upcoming album Bully, stating, “Bully, this album so crazy I wouldn’t drop if I was y’all or drop now cause when he drops this is gone b a big problem. We not takin no for answers we are th BULLY.” “Safe to say @ye back aka THE REAL BILLY GOAT pun intended.”

Kanye then shared a snapshot of the Dipset chain, seen in Jones’ earlier photo, resting on a fur-lined jacket, and captioned it: “DIPSET.” The Chicago artist also donned the necklace while partying with Jones.

Cam’Ron Dismisses Kanye’s Rants, Reaffirms Loyalty

Though Cam’Ron hasn’t yet addressed the buzzworthy encounter, he’s openly shared his thoughts on Ye’s notorious public rants in the past.

He shared on his All the Smoke Podcast: “Kanye, he play crazy with who he wanna play crazy with, you know what I’m saying? That n-gga’s crazy when it’s convenient.” “I seen Kanye about a year and a half, two years ago… the n-gga was sane as a muthafucka!” he added, before recalling the Chicago native asking him if he wants beats and suggesting they hit the town together.” He added, “Two days later he going crazy on the news and all type of shit. Every time I seen Kanye he’s perfectly fine — I’ve never seen the crazy Kanye, personally. Ever.”

Cam took aim at his collaborator from Dipset‘s 2018 revival, dismissing Kanye’s Bipolar diagnosis and branding him an “Uncle Tom.” However, he later insisted his affection for Kanye was unchanged, with the two reconnecting in an odd meeting at West’s secluded office, joined by Marilyn Manson during the Donda 2 sessions.

Kanye West has found himself in the middle of some rap beef once again, this time between longtime friends and collaborators Jim Jones and Cam’Ron. The tensions between the two Harlem rappers have been simmering for years, but things escalated when Kanye recently decided to align himself with Jim Jones.

It all started when Kanye posted a photo on his Instagram with Jim Jones, showing the two of them in the studio together. This move surprised many fans, as Kanye has previously worked closely with Cam’Ron and even featured him on his hit song “Gone” back in 2005.

The photo sparked speculation that Kanye was choosing sides in the ongoing feud between Jim Jones and Cam’Ron. While Kanye has not publicly commented on the situation, his actions speak volumes. By aligning himself with Jim Jones, he is sending a clear message that he is standing with his fellow rapper in this feud.

It remains to be seen how Cam’Ron will react to Kanye’s apparent support of Jim Jones. Will this lead to further tensions between the two rappers, or will they be able to patch things up and move forward? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure – Kanye West has once again found himself in the middle of some rap drama. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • CNN’s Jim Acosta Loses Long Battle With Donald Trump

Eight years ago, CNN‘s Jim Acosta earned the moniker of “chief antagonist for a network that styles itself as [Donald] Trump’s chief antagonist.”

Now, as the nation prepares for a second Trump term, the newly inaugurated president may get his revenge.

In a sign of the times, CNN put Acosta out of the network’s new weekday programming lineup, replacing the anchor’s 10 a.m. show with The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown. For the time being, Acosta is still expected to anchor during that time slot.

A CNN spokesperson told Newsweek the network is “in active discussions with Jim about a new time slot and will have more information to share soon.”

But the prospective time slot seems far from ideal, according to Oliver Darcy’s Status newsletter. Darcy was the first to report last week that CNN is considering relegating Acosta to the midnight hour. The anchor, however, is weighing exiting the network rather than taking the graveyard shift, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

Acosta declined Newsweek‘s emailed request for comment.

The shake-up at CNN is part of a larger reshuffling at the network after it laid off 6 percent of its workforce this week. But while the efforts to ramp up its digital strategies come amid a general decline in cable news viewership, it also comes at the beginning of a new Trump era.

“A couple of things are at work here,” John Pitney, a veteran political scientist and former Republican National Committee official, told Newsweek on Friday. “Bad ratings usually prompt television networks to shuffle on-air talent. And CNN’s ratings have slumped.”

But he added that “politics is also part of the picture.”

“Acosta is an aggressive interviewer, and executives might be thinking that his approach is unappealing to right-leaning viewers,” Pitney said. “And there is Trump himself. He has not been shy about threatening the economic interests of news organizations that displease him.”

Donald Trump and Jim Acosta: A Timeline

Trump and Acosta have long had a contentious relationship. Throughout his time as CNN’s chief White House correspondent, Acosta became Trump’s biggest on-air critic, often making headlines for getting into confrontations with the president.

But the friction began well before Acosta assumed that position in 2018. During a press conference as president-elect, Trump refused to take questions from Acosta, saying CNN was “fake news.”

“Your organization is terrible,” Trump shouted at the reporter during the January 2017 conference. “I am not going to give you a question. You are fake news.”

After the two sparred, Sean Spicer, who was the incoming White House press secretary at the time, threatened to throw Acosta out of the room.

Things came to a head in 2018. In the wake of the midterm elections, Acosta interrogated Trump at a press briefing about demonizing “invasion” immigrants for political points—a line of questioning that prompted the president to respond, “Honestly I think you should let me run the country and you run CNN. If you did it well, your ratings would be much better.”

When Acosta wouldn’t let up and continued to press the president, a White House aide approached him and physically tried to take the microphone away from him, leading the two to arm wrestle in a jaw-dropping altercation. After calling on another reporter, Trump turned back to Acosta to blast him as “a rude, terrible person.”

As a result of that confrontation, the Trump administration banned Acosta from the White House, revoking his press pass for what it characterized as “placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job.”

That move led to CNN filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration. Shortly afterward, a federal judge ordered the White House to reinstate Acosta’s press credentials. Trump and Acosta would go on to spar again at future press conferences,

Throughout all of this, Acosta maintained his position for the remainder of the Trump presidency. After Joe Biden defeated Trump in the 2020 election, Acosta was promoted to CNN’s chief domestic correspondent and weekend anchor.

When Trump left the White House, Acosta described Trump’s departure as “a sad and pathetic sight.”

“What we saw the president build over the course of four or five years out on the campaign trail and over at the White House just sort of unraveled at the end,” Acosta said on CNN in January 2021.

But this past November, the tide turned. Trump was sent back to the White House. His election win wasn’t marginal; it was decisive. He won the popular vote and carried all seven swing states. He made significant gains among Black and Latino voters. He was no longer a pariah in American culture. In fact, a number of athletes, musicians and C-suite executives were all ready to embrace him in a way that had not been seen before in his political career.

    Is CNN ‘Bending the Knee’?

But experts warn that taking Acosta off the air could hurt CNN’s image, not just with its audience but also in the grander scheme of things.

“If they are shifting journalists’ time slots or editorial independence to curry favor, they’re not only hurting their culture but their reputation as a media organization,” James Haggerty, a crisis communications expert and president of PRCG Haggerty, told Newsweek. “And at the end of the day, that reputation for integrity and independence is the product they are selling.”

Doug Gordon, a Democratic strategist and co-CEO of UpShift Strategies, agreed that taking Acosta out of the lineup could backfire on CNN. He told Newsweek such a move could deal a blow to its reputation in the journalism industry. And it might not just harm the network in the immediate aftermath but for years to come.

“Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic won’t save CNN. But bending the knee to the powerful instead of holding them accountable is a permanent stain on CNN’s legacy,” Gordon said. “CNN employs lots of smart and qualified journalists. But it is clear leadership is more interested in appeasing Trump than letting those journalists do their jobs. So much for reporting without fear of favor.”

Several anti-Trump voices have already lashed out at CNN over the news that Acosta’s program had been put into limbo. Former GOP Representative Joe Walsh said on X (formerly Twitter) that while he often appeared on the network and recognized that speaking out could jeopardize future opportunities to appear on the air, “removing @Acosta from his morning show – is cowardly bull****.”

While initially a strong supporter of Trump, Walsh became increasingly critical of the president during the first Trump term, and in 2020 he launched a primary challenge to Trump’s presidential bid.

“Acosta is one of your most independent, unafraid hosts,” Walsh said Thursday. “To demote him to f***ing appease the crybaby in the White House is pathetic. And an abdication of your duty to hold ALL public officials to account. Shame on you CNN. Correct this mistake now.”

Responding on X, legal analyst Julius Kim commended Walsh’s take, adding that he hasn’t watched CNN since Election Day and that he was fine with never appearing on the network again.

“I’ve lost a lot of respect for them,” Kim said.

Fred Guttenberg, a prominent gun control activist who lost his daughter in the 2018 Parkland, Florida, school shooting, tweeted Thursday that he would never watch CNN or do an interview with the network again because of the decision to remove Acosta from the 10 a.m. time slot.

He blasted the news as an “effort to submit to Trump” and said there were other cable options for him to tune in to if he wanted to “watch real news and not Trump propaganda.”

Former Trump attorney and fixer Michael Cohen also joined Guttenberg in his “sentiment and disgust” with CNN and the network’s treatment of Acosta, while using the “#Bend the Knee” hashtag. Meanwhile, Jon Cooper, a prominent Democrat, called Acosta “one of the few remaining anchors on @CNN with real integrity” and argued that the network’s recent shift on Trump was the reason its viewership was declining.

“Removing him from his morning show to appease the Orange Fascist is a sign of weakness and cowardice on the network’s part. That’s why CNN’s viewership has declined dramatically, and will continue to do so,” Cooper wrote on X.

Looking Back: Notable Questions Acosta Asked Trump

    • January 2017: “Since you’re attacking our news organization, can you give us a chance?”
    • February 2017: “Aren’t you concerned, sir, that you are undermining the people’s faith in the First Amendment, freedom of the press, the press in this country when you call stories you don’t like ‘fake news’? Why not just say it’s a story I don’t like?”
    • January 2018: “Just Caucasian or white countries, sir? Or do you want people to come from other parts of the world?”
    • February 2018: “Mr. President, why does this keep happening to America? Will you do something about guns?””
    • June 2018: “Mr. President, will you stop calling us the enemy of the people, sir?”
    • October 2018: “Mr. President, one more thing on the caravan. You had said that there were Middle Easterners in the caravan. Can you explain that? Are you saying there are terrorists?”
    • October 2018: “There is concern that you are sending coded language or a dog whistle to some Americans out there that what you really mean is that you are a white nationalist.”
    • November 2018: “Do you think that you demonize immigrants?”
    • February 2020: “Mr. President, I think our record on delivering the truth is a lot better than yours sometimes, if you don’t mind me saying.”
    • March 2020: “What do you say to Americans who say you downplayed the virus over the last couple of months?”
    • March 2020: “This may be an uncomfortable question, but what would the models have looked like that Dr. Birx and Dr. Fauci showed us if we had started the social distancing guidelines sooner in February or January when China, South Korea were doing those…. In terms of what information we’re getting from them but if had started this practice sooner, could these models be different?”
    • March 2020: “What do you say to Americans who are upset with you over the way you downplayed this crisis over the last couple of months?”
    • April 2020: “And where is Dr. Fauci?”
    • April 2020: “Mr. President, you have you have said nobody could have seen this pandemic coming, but, in fact, Secretary Azar, at a biodefense summit in April of 2019, said, ‘Of course, the people—of course, the thing that people ask, “What keeps you most up at night in the biodefense world?” Pandemic flu, of course. I think everyone in this room probably shares that concern.’ Your own health and human services secretary was aware that this had the potential of being a very big problem around the world, a pandemic of this nature. Who dropped the ball?”
    • May 2020: “Are you saying mission accomplished [on the COVID pandemic]?”
    • August 2020: “Can you explain why so many of the public health experts on the coronavirus task force are contradicting you on things like why the virus is so widespread in this country?… Why are so many of these people on your task force contradicting you?”

CNN’s Chief White House Correspondent, Jim Acosta, has finally conceded defeat in his long-standing battle with former President Donald Trump. Acosta, known for his combative questioning and confrontational style, has been a thorn in Trump’s side since the beginning of his presidency.

Despite facing constant backlash and criticism from Trump and his supporters, Acosta never backed down from holding the former president accountable for his actions. However, with Trump now out of office and focusing on his own endeavors, Acosta seems to have accepted that the battle is over.

In a recent statement, Acosta expressed his disappointment that Trump’s lies and attacks on the press were not met with more resistance. He acknowledged that the past few years have been challenging, but he remains hopeful for the future of journalism and the role of the media in holding those in power accountable.

While Acosta may have lost this particular battle with Trump, his dedication to truth and transparency in reporting has not wavered. As he continues to cover the Biden administration and other important issues facing the country, we can be sure that Acosta will remain a fierce advocate for press freedom and journalistic integrity.

  • Jim Acosta leaving CNN after being pulled from network’s programming schedule: report

CNN anchor Jim Acosta is reportedly leaving the network after he was officially pulled from its programming schedule.

The Status newsletter reported Monday that Acosta was expected to leave CNN after it was announced last week that his 10 a.m. ET program was being replaced with “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown” in the network’s latest reshuffling.

The newsletter previously reported that Acosta was pitched by CNN CEO Mark Thompson to move him from his one-hour slot at 10 a.m. ET to a two-hour slot beginning at midnight, a far less distinguished place in the lineup.

One CNN insider told Fox News Digital they heard Acosta “struggled with the choice” and may be cutting his contract short as a result.

“It takes courage,” the CNN insider said.

    CNN declined to comment.

Acosta became more widely known as CNN’s chief White House correspondent for his antagonistic relationship with President Donald Trump and his aides during the first Trump administration. After the 2020 election, Acosta’s status at CNN was shifted to chief domestic correspondent, anchoring a show on the weekends but eventually moving his way to weekday programming.

While CNN’s past leadership reveled in Acosta’s constant sparring matches with the first Trump administration, the network’s current leadership appears to be trying to appear more neutral for the second go-around.

Acosta first joined CNN in 2007, where he covered political campaigns and eventually the Obama and Trump White Houses. He quickly became notorious for shouting questions at Trump’s White House press secretaries and frequently going toe-to-toe with the president himself, developing a reputation for grandstanding and receiving a profile boost by Trump after being called “fake news.”

Acosta famously refused to give up the microphone in a 2018 press conference as he engaged in a contentious back-and-forth with Trump. The White House attempted to revoke Acosta’s press pass following the dust-up, but his credentials were restored when CNN argued that it violated the First and Fifth Amendment rights of Acosta and the network.

Acosta’s adversarial relationship with the first Trump administration appeared to be lucrative as he landed himself a book deal and became a frequent guest on liberal late-night shows, further fueling the star power that landed him an anchor chair during the Biden presidency. He recently told viewers the press is “not the enemy of the people” in a shot at Trump.

CNN reporter Jim Acosta is reportedly leaving the network after being pulled from the programming schedule. According to sources, Acosta’s departure comes after a series of clashes with network executives over his outspoken and confrontational reporting style.

Acosta, who has been with CNN for several years, gained national attention for his tough questioning of President Trump and his administration. However, his aggressive approach has also drawn criticism from some viewers and colleagues who feel he has crossed the line into bias and sensationalism.

While the exact reasons for Acosta’s departure are still unclear, it is rumored that tensions between the reporter and CNN management have been brewing for some time. Acosta’s absence from the network’s programming schedule has raised speculation about his future in journalism and whether he will resurface at another news outlet.

As news of Acosta’s departure spreads, many are left wondering what this means for the future of CNN and the role of journalists in today’s media landscape. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

CNN anchor Jim Acosta seemingly acknowledged the current state of flux he now finds himself in at the network, cheekily telling viewers that he is “still reporting from Washington” while signing off from his morning show on Thursday.

The rhetorical wink and nod to the audience came hours after CNN announced that not only is it laying off 6 percent of its workforce as it pivots to a digital-first operation but that the network is also revamping its weekday television lineup – which currently leaves Acosta in limbo as he contemplates moving to late-night.

Ahead of Thursday’s announcement, which will see anchors Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown replace Acosta in the 10 a.m. ET slot, CNN chief executive Mark Thompson called Acosta last week to offer him a proposal: Move from mornings to hosting a two-hour “graveyard” shift that would end at 2 a.m. ET.

Considering Acosta’s reputation as an outspoken MAGA antagonist, along with the network’s softened approach towards Donald Trump since the Warner Bros. Discovery merger in 2022, some have seen this proposed move as an attempt to curry favor with the new president by burying an anchor he despises in an unfavorable time slot.

“They want to get rid of Acosta to throw a bone to Trump,” one media executive told Status News. “Midnight is not a serious offer when his ratings are among the best on the network.”

CNN anchor Jim Acosta said he was “still reporting from Washington” on Thursday while his future at the network remains in doubt.

Additionally, Status founder Oliver Darcy wondered why else CNN “would effectively exile Acosta to the Siberia of television news,” especially when the host is one of the most popular on a network that is currently dealing with low ratings that have only gotten worse after Trump’s election.

During his call with Acosta, which caught the host off-guard, Thompson assured him that this proposal had nothing to do with his ratings or editorial stance. In fact, the CNN chief presented it as something of a promotion, noting that CNN is a global brand and that he would be broadcasting live in primetime on the West Coast. Additionally, his show would be simulcast on CNN International, where it would air live in the mornings in London and Paris.

Sources have told The Independent that Acosta is still mulling the offer to go to late night, which would also see him likely move to Los Angeles, where the show would be produced. At the same time, the longtime CNN personality could also decide to reject the proposal and end his nearly two-decade career with the network.

With Acosta still in limbo, the network did not include him in its new program lineup on Thursday, which also featured Jake Tapper moving to early evening, Kasie Hunt sliding into a mid-afternoon slot and Audie Cornish getting to host her own morning show. The network said the new programming will begin rolling out in the weeks ahead, and additional details regarding launch dates will follow.

While Acosta has remained mum about the programming shifts and proposal to move to midnight, he apparently referenced his current situation after his last segment on Thursday.

“We are in active discussions with Jim about a new time slot and will have more information to share soon,” a CNN spokesperson said.

Finishing up an interview on gun violence with Parkland father Manuel Oliver, Acosta said it “is always an honor” to have Oliver on his show, adding that the activist is “always my favorite guest.” He then turned to the camera to hand off to the next hour’s programming.

“In the meantime, thank you very much for joining us this morning. Still reporting from Washington. I’m Jim Acosta,” he said, making sure to emphasize “still.”

The following hour, Brown would inform viewers that her “legendary” colleague Blitzer would “soon be joining” her to host a two-program morning show, which would also include the hour being taken away from Acosta.

Meanwhile, Thompson is not just taking heat from those who are worried that Acosta is being “getting hosed” by the network. After he told the staff on Thursday that roughly 200 employees would be losing their jobs as the company sharpens its focus on digital and streaming, staffers told The Independent that Thompson “gave the least inspiring remarks about layoffs” they’ve heard, adding that his comments were “just so tone deaf and insensitive to people who are getting cut.”

Jim Acosta, the outspoken CNN correspondent, bid farewell to his show with a cheeky sign-off as his future at the network remains uncertain.

During his final broadcast, Acosta signed off with a wink and a smile, leaving viewers wondering what his next move might be. Rumors have been swirling about Acosta’s potential departure from CNN, with some speculating that he may be eyeing a new role at a different network.

Regardless of what the future holds for Acosta, one thing is for certain – he will be missed at CNN. His fearless reporting and sharp wit have made him a staple on the network, and his departure will undoubtedly leave a void in the lineup.

As Acosta embarks on this new chapter in his career, fans can only hope that he will continue to bring his unique perspective and unwavering dedication to journalism wherever he goes. Good luck, Jim – we can’t wait to see what you do next.

  • Sooners defensive coordinator target Jim Knowles accepts job at Penn State

Jim Knowles, the reigning national champion defensive coordinator for the Ohio State Buckeyes and a target for the Sooners’ open DC position under Brent Venables, has reportedly accepted a job at Penn State.

Griffin Media’s Toby Rowland reports that Knowles, the former Oklahoma State defensive coordinator from 2018-2021, is staying in the Big Ten and going to Happy Valley with James Franklin.

“Reliable sources confirm that barring last second change of heart, Jim Knowles is headed to Penn State. He has notified James Franklin that he’ll accept their offer of well over $3 million to be highest paid coordinator in college football history. Knowles is from Philly.”

Knowles was a top candidate to replace Zac Alley as OU’s defensive coordinator in 2025. Oklahoma hired Washington State’s Ben Arbuckle as offensive coordinator in December to replace Seth Littrell.

He brought with him the top quarterback in the Transfer Portal, John Mateer, with him to Norman to take over for Jackson Arnold, who is now on the Auburn Tigers.

Oklahoma opens the season on Saturday, Aug. 30, against Illinois State. The Sooners don’t travel on the road in conference until Oct. 18th against South Carolina.

The Oklahoma Sooners may have to look elsewhere for a new defensive coordinator, as top target Jim Knowles has reportedly accepted a job at Penn State.

Knowles, who has been the defensive coordinator at Oklahoma State for the past three seasons, was widely considered the frontrunner for the Sooners’ vacant defensive coordinator position. However, it appears that Penn State was able to swoop in and secure his services.

This is a major blow for the Sooners, as Knowles is widely regarded as one of the top defensive minds in college football. His aggressive and innovative schemes have helped Oklahoma State become one of the top defensive units in the country.

It will be interesting to see who the Sooners turn to now in their search for a new defensive coordinator. They will have big shoes to fill after missing out on the opportunity to bring Knowles on board.

  • Ohio State offers Jim Knowles contract extension amid Oklahoma, Penn State interest, per report

Ohio State and Ryan Day extended a contract extension offer to Jim Knowles, making him the highest-paid defensive coordinator in college football, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Knowles, who helped the Buckeyes to a national championship earlier, is linked to defensive coordinator openings at both Oklahoma and Penn State. Knowles was the third-highest paid coordinator in all of college football this past season, earning $2.2 million in a base salary as part of a three-year extension signed last January. That contract expires on Jan. 31, 2027.

LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker ($2.5 million) and Michigan defensive coordinator Wink Martindale ($2.3 million) were the only two assistant coaches with higher 2024 salaries than Knowles. Martindale earns $2.75 million next season with the Wolverines.

Ohio State led the FBS in scoring defense during their national championship run this season, holding opponents to just 12.9 points per game. The Buckeyes ranked first nationally in total yards allowed per play (4.19), second in yards per rush attempt allowed (2.65) and tied for sixth in yards per pass attempt allowed (6.0).

Oklahoma has yet to hire a new defensive coordinator since Zac Alley left for the same position at West Virginia in late December. The Sooners are expected to put together an aggressive offer to try to lure Knowles away from Ohio State, according to Sooners Illustrated.

Knowles has also been mentioned in connection to the Penn State defensive coordinator vacancy after Tom Allen left for the same position at Clemson shortly after the Nittany Lions were eliminated from the College Football Playoff

Knowles was asked about the reported interest from Oklahoma last Saturday prior to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, but offered little comment.

“Beat Notre Dame; that’s all I’m focused on,” Knowles said. “These things happen, I guess, when you have success, players are making plays. My job is to put them in the best position. These things come up when you do well.”

Knowles finished his third season at Ohio State. He has nearly 40 years of coaching experience at the college level having recently served as the defensive coordinator at Oklahoma State (2018-21) and Duke (2010-17). Knowles was the head coach at Cornell (2004-09) before returning to the FBS level.

Knowles improved the Oklahoma State defense in each of his three seasons with the program, becoming a finalist for the Broyles Award, given annually to honor the best assistant coach in college football, after the 2021 campaign.

Day announced the hiring of Knowles on Dec. 7, 2021. The Buckeyes made a significant jump defensively after his first season, ranking top three nationally in points allowed per game (11.2), passing yards allowed per game (145.9) and total yards allowed per game (265.4).

In a surprising turn of events, Ohio State has reportedly offered defensive coordinator Jim Knowles a contract extension amid interest from both Oklahoma and Penn State.

Knowles, who joined the Buckeyes just this past season, has quickly made an impact on the team’s defense, helping lead them to a Big Ten Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff. His innovative schemes and aggressive play-calling have earned him praise from players, coaches, and fans alike.

With both Oklahoma and Penn State expressing interest in Knowles, Ohio State has moved quickly to secure his services for the foreseeable future. The details of the contract extension have not been disclosed, but it is clear that the Buckeyes value Knowles’ contributions to the team and want to keep him in Columbus for the long term.

It remains to be seen whether Knowles will accept the contract extension or entertain offers from other programs, but one thing is for certain – his coaching prowess has not gone unnoticed, and his future in college football looks bright.

  • Ohio State football is battling other schools to retain Jim Knowles

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football is doing its part to retain defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.

The Buckeyes have made Knowles an offer that would make him the highest-paid defensive coordinator in college football, according to multiple reports.

Michigan’s Wink Martindale, who is in line to make $2.75 million next year, currently holds that title. Knowles currently makes $2.2 million after getting a contract extension last year.

The Ohio State football team is facing tough competition in their efforts to retain defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. With several schools reportedly expressing interest in hiring Knowles away from the Buckeyes, Ohio State is working hard to keep their defensive mastermind on staff.

Knowles, who joined Ohio State just this past year, has already made a significant impact on the team’s defense. Under his leadership, the Buckeyes have seen improvements in their pass rush, run defense, and overall defensive performance.

However, other schools have taken notice of Knowles’ success and are vying for his services. With his reputation as a top defensive coordinator in college football, Knowles has become a sought-after candidate for head coaching positions and other high-profile coaching roles.

Ohio State is pulling out all the stops to convince Knowles to stay, offering him a competitive salary and the support he needs to continue building the Buckeyes’ defense into a dominant force. While the competition is fierce, Ohio State is determined to keep Knowles in Columbus and continue their success on the gridiron.
