  • Joan Jett, Patti LaBelle, The Revivalists slated to perform at Jazz Fest • The Tulane Hullabaloo

2025 marks 55 years of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, which kicks off on Apr. 24. This year’s Jazz Fest boasts an impressive lineup of big-name artists and local musicians who properly honor the festival’s legacy.

Those who enjoy indie rock will be excited to hear that Cage the Elephant is returning to Jazz Fest’s lineup since their performance in 2018. Known for songs like “Cigarette Daydreams” and “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked,” Cage the Elephant has won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album twice, and it is no wonder why. The band stands out amongst others in the genre because of the members’ sheer creativity, evident in not just their lyrics and musicality, but in their “wildly cathartic performances” that are nothing short of eccentric.

    Zoe Gellert

This year’s lineup includes many other rock bands, including Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band and Cheap Trick, but possibly the most exciting act will be Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Joan Jett is regarded as the “Queen of Rock n’ Roll,” and she and the Blackhearts, her backup band, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. It goes without saying that Jett will be one of the most — if not the most — anticipated acts at this year’s Jazz Fest and will be a must-see for attendees.

While the festival boasts many names in rock, Jazz Fest 2025 also features many artists of other genres, such as country and folk, which includes Kacey Musgraves. Known for songs like “Butterflies” and “Rainbow,” Kacey Musgraves’s commitment to social justice in her music is evident, tackling themes like LGBTQ+ acceptance that adds a liberal element to her work that is uncommon in the country genre. If her performance at Jazz Fest is anything like her set at Austin City Limits in 2019, her set will be a powerful exhibition of her excellent live vocals and engagement with the crowd.

Another big artist coming to Jazz Fest this year is Laufey. Pronounced “lāy-vāy,” Laufey is an Icelandic-Chinese singer whose goal is “to bring jazz and classical music to [her] generation.” It may seem a lofty aspiration to make jazz and classical music exciting to Gen Z, but Laufey has more than succeeded in her goal, garnering 7.7 million followers on TikTok with popular songs like “From the Start” and “Valentine.” Her music has the soft, melodic quality of a Studio Ghibli soundtrack, and her approach to jazz and classical music adds a 21st-century spin on the genres, making her a unique act to see at this year’s Jazz Fest.

While these big-name artists will entice audiences, it would not be Jazz Fest without paying homage to New Orleans culture and local musicians. First on the list of New Orleans-based artists is The Revivalists, an alternative rock band best known for their song “Wish I Knew You.” The band is deeply connected to the city of New Orleans as when they started out, “[they] were watching New Orleans rebuild after Katrina, and fight to keep the city’s spirit alive.” The band’s name comes directly from this deep connection to the city and the idea that art can revive, honoring New Orleans’s history and resiliency through their music.

This year’s lineup also includes some of New Orleans’s greatest, including Trombone Shorty, Big Freedia and Patti LaBelle. None of these artists are strangers to performing, with Big Freedia being credited with helping to popularize the New Orleans hip-hop subgenre, bounce music, and Patti LaBelle being regarded as the “Godmother of Soul.” Trombone Shorty is also an influential artist, especially at Jazz Fest, as he has been closing the festival for over a decade. These artists are instrumental to New Orleans’s music culture today, and whether you have seen them before or not, they will all be worth a watch.

Spanning two weekends, Jazz Fest’s 2025 lineup is talent-packed and will be sure to excite any concert fan, regardless of music taste. For those interested, check out the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival website for tickets and set times, and have a happy Jazz Fest!

Exciting news for music lovers in New Orleans! The lineup for this year’s Jazz Fest at the Tulane Hullabaloo has just been announced, and it’s sure to be a can’t-miss event. Rock icon Joan Jett, legendary soul singer Patti LaBelle, and the popular indie rock band The Revivalists are all slated to perform at the festival.

Joan Jett, known for hits like “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “Bad Reputation,” is sure to bring her high-energy performance to the stage. Patti LaBelle, with her powerhouse voice and timeless classics like “Lady Marmalade” and “On My Own,” is sure to dazzle the crowd. And The Revivalists, with their unique blend of rock, soul, and funk, are sure to get everyone dancing.

So mark your calendars for the Jazz Fest at the Tulane Hullabaloo and get ready for a weekend of incredible music from some of the biggest names in the industry. Tickets are sure to sell out fast, so be sure to grab yours before it’s too late. See you there!

  • San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade and Festival kicks off; Joan Chen, Carrie Ann Inaba serve as Grand Marshals

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — The Year of the Snake kicks off one week from now! The animal symbolizes transformation and renewal, fitting traits now that ABC7 is the proud broadcast sponsor for San Francisco’s Chinese New Year Parade. The parade and celebrations for the year ahead are expected to be bigger and better than ever.

Beneath the iconic red lanterns of Chinatown’s Grant Avenue, anticipation is palpable. Thousands are gearing up for the event, which draws more than 200,000 visitors from around the globe making it the largest Chinese New Year parade outside of Asia.

“Oh my God, it’s a REALLY exciting time for us,” said Brenda Ly of Oakland. “As a Chinese American, we’re always looking forward to sharing our culture with the world.”

Mark your calendars, the largest Lunar New Year Celebration outside of Asia is coming to ABC7 this February.

Visitors like Elizabeth Peterson, who traveled from Minnesota, echo the excitement. “We really relish the chances we have to experience other cultures,” Peterson said. “Minnesota has some diversity, but there’s certainly not as much as in San Francisco. It’s just a great opportunity.”

The Year of the Snake is also being celebrated by small businesses like Eastern Bakery in Chinatown, which marked its centennial last year. Donald Luu, president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the economic importance of the festivities.

“For some businesses, it generates as much as a third of their annual revenue,” Luu said.

Orlando Kuan of Eastern Bakery shared his enthusiasm: “We’re very excited for that!”

  • Barcelona’s Joan Laporta on Getafe refereeing: ‘A disgrace’

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has slammed the “scandalous” decision not to award Jules Koundé a penalty in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Getafe.

Koundé was brought down by Christantus Uche as he attempted to get on the end of a cross at the far post in the 81st minute, but neither the referee nor the VAR deemed it to be a foul.

Barça continued to push for a winner but could not break down Getafe as their winless run in LaLiga extended to four games, leaving them seven points behind leaders Real Madrid.

“The refereeing in the game against Getafe was an absolute disgrace,” Laporta told reporters on Monday when asked about the Koundé incident.

“Not giving a penalty for the foul on Koundé is a scandal. A scandal. I think you should watch it back again and again because it’s scandalous.”

Laporta also referenced an incident in Madrid’s win over Getafe in December, pointing out that a penalty was given in their favour for a very similar challenge by Allan Nyom on Antonio Rüdiger.

Barça’s league form has contrasted with their cup form. They claimed the Spanish Supercopa with an impressive 5-2 win over Madrid recently and have progressed to the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey.

They now turn their attention back to the Champions League and a trip to Benfica on Tuesday. A win should guarantee they skip the knockout round and progress straight to the round of 16.

Meanwhile, the club continue to work on signing some of their young stars to long-term contracts after convincing defender Ronald Araújo to stay at the club last week.

Sources have told ESPN that midfielders Pedri and Gavi are both close to putting pen to paper on new deals with their existing terms due to expire in 2026.

A source said that Pedri’s extension should be announced by February at the latest, with the timing dependent on when the club decide to finalise the agreement.

The Spain international is enjoying an exceptional season after appearing to put recent injury problems behind him.

Eric García could still leave the club this month, though, with Girona sporting director Quique Cárcel confirming an interest in re-signing the defender who was on loan at Montilivi last season.

“We wanted to sign him in the summer and our intention is to try and bring him in again,” Cárcel told DAZN. “But it depends on Barça’s conditions being realistic for us in terms of what we can do.”

Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta has expressed his outrage over the refereeing in their recent match against Getafe, labeling it as ‘a disgrace’.

In a post-match interview, Laporta criticized the decisions made by the match officials, stating that they were biased and heavily favored Getafe throughout the game.

“It was evident that the referee had a clear bias towards Getafe. The decisions made were questionable and had a significant impact on the outcome of the match. It is unacceptable for such blatant favoritism to occur in a professional football game,” said Laporta.

Laporta also called for more transparency and accountability in refereeing decisions, emphasizing the need for fair and impartial officiating in order to maintain the integrity of the sport.

Barcelona’s disappointing result against Getafe has further fueled calls for reform in the refereeing system, with many fans and officials alike demanding a more fair and consistent approach to officiating in La Liga.

  • Joan Plowright was a dynamic force for change in British theatre | Joan Plowright

Joan Plowright, who has died aged 95, was not only a remarkable actor but a dynamic force for change in British theatre. In her work at the Royal Court in the 1950s she symbolised a new working-class energy, although in reality she was the daughter of a Lincolnshire newspaper editor, and through her marriage to Laurence Olivier, she helped to shape the newly founded National Theatre company in the 1960s. There’s a choice moment in the film Nothing Like a Dame when she says she has the burden of bearing two titles, dame and baroness, to which Maggie Smith sardonically replies, “Joan, darling, you’ll just have to wrestle with it.” But wrestle with it she did and she never lost the earthiness that was part of her inheritance.

Her attitude to theatre also stemmed from her training at the Old Vic theatre school, which was set up in the bomb-damaged Waterloo Road building in London in the freezing winter of 1947: at a time when many drama academies resembled superior finishing schools, this one, under the tuition of Michel Saint-Denis, instilled a rigorous Stanislavskian approach to acting. For Plowright, this bore fruit when she became a founding member of the English Stage Company at the Royal Court in 1956. She instantly made her mark in Wycherley’s The Country Wife and Ionesco’s The Chairs and The Lesson, alongside George Devine, but it was her performance as Beatie Bryant in Arnold Wesker’s Roots in 1959 that marked her out as a star. She not only understood perfectly how the daughter of Norfolk farmworkers achieved self-realisation: when she leapt on to a chair it was, as noted at the time, “the image of the working class breaking in to a new life”.

‘When Larry married Joan he also married her interest in new theatre’ … Laurence Olivier and Plowright in the 1960 film adaptation of The Entertainer. Photograph: Rex/Shutterstock

Plowright’s meeting with and subsequent marriage to Olivier not only changed her own life but also had a direct impact on British theatre. Olivier represented the theatrical establishment and Plowright the new radical generation. It was Plowright who persuaded Olivier to hire Kenneth Tynan as literary manager of the National Theatre company in 1963 and it is no accident that the first directors Olivier engaged were John Dexter and William Gaskill, both graduates of the Royal Court. As Gaskill himself wrote: “When Larry married Joan he also married her interest in new theatre and her loyalties to the actors and directors with whom she had worked.”

Plowright herself made great strides as an actor at this time. Having been the voice of new drama – and she had won a Tony for her Broadway performance in A Taste of Honey in 1960 – she now showed her mastery of the classics. At the National, she was bright-eyed and downright as Shaw’s Saint Joan, as Maggie Hobson in Hobson’s Choice and as Hilde Wangel in The Master Builder. But it was her Sonya in Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya – first at Chichester and then in the opening season of the National at the Old Vic – that she shook hands with greatness. She understood that Chekhov’s plays are about enduring unhappiness with fortitude. Her delivery of Sonya’s final speech – “When the time comes, we shall die without a murmur … we shall see a light that is bright and lovely and beautiful … we shall rest” – had a resilient optimism that left a whole audience shaken and stirred.

While thriving as an actor, Plowright also sought to galvanise the National. Irked by the lack of female dramatists, she commissioned four female novelists to write plays for an experimental season at London’s Jeannetta Cochrane theatre and directed one of them herself – Maureen Duffy’s Rites, which in 1969 transferred to the Old Vic. But, although Olivier proposed her as a possible successor to himself at the National, the board would have none of it: indeed, its chairman, Lord Chandos, once intemperately described Plowright to me as “a red”.

Even if she never became a director, Plowright enjoyed a busy career as an actor after Olivier left the National. She worked happily with her favoured directors. She played Katharina in The Taming of the Shrew for Jonathan Miller at Chichester. She was Rebecca West in Ibsen’s Rosmersholm for Robin Phillips at Greenwich. She did a West End season with Lindsay Anderson, playing Madame Arkadina in The Seagull. For one of her oldest friends, Franco Zeffirelli, she appeared in Eduardo de Filippo’s Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Filumena as well as the movie Tea With Mussolini. But it was her performance in Nuria Espert’s production of Lorca’s The House of Bernarda Alba in 1986 that showed her at her finest. As the servant to a tyrannical mistress, she combined the practicality of a household drudge with a desperate longing for life and gaiety.

A champion of the bold … Plowright and Oliver Ford Davies in Absolutely! (Perhaps) in 2003. Photograph: Tristram Kenton/the Guardian

Plowright did some fine work in her later years, winning a Golden Globe for her performance in Mike Newell’s film Enchanted April, but she was forced to give up acting when she suffered macular degeneration and became blind. But the imprint of her great performances, in Wesker, Chekhov and Lorca, remains strong and she was unquestionably a force for good in her championship of the new, the bold and the innovative. Theatrical power, in her time, was mainly invested in men, but Plowright was herself an agent of change.

Joan Plowright was a dynamic force for change in British theatre

Joan Plowright, the legendary British actress, was not only a talented performer but also a dynamic force for change in the world of theatre. Throughout her career, she challenged traditional gender roles and pushed boundaries in the industry, paving the way for future generations of actors and actresses.

Plowright’s career spanned over six decades, during which she starred in numerous iconic plays and films. She was known for her powerful and emotional performances, captivating audiences with her raw talent and charisma on stage.

But it was her advocacy for gender equality and diversity in theatre that truly set her apart. Plowright was a vocal supporter of women’s rights and fought tirelessly to ensure that female actors were given the same opportunities and recognition as their male counterparts.

She also worked to promote diversity in casting, pushing for more representation of minority groups on stage and screen. Plowright believed that theatre should reflect the full spectrum of human experience, and she used her platform to advocate for greater inclusivity in the industry.

In addition to her work as an actress, Plowright was a mentor and role model for aspiring performers, offering guidance and support to those looking to break into the world of theatre. She was a trailblazer in her own right, and her impact on British theatre will be felt for generations to come.

Joan Plowright may have passed away in 2021, but her legacy lives on through her groundbreaking work and her enduring influence on the world of theatre. She will be remembered as a dynamic force for change, a champion of equality and diversity, and a true icon of British theatre.

  • Joan Plowright, celebrated star of stage and screen, dies aged 95 | Joan Plowright

The actor Joan Plowright, who was celebrated for her long career in theatre and film, has died at the age of 95, her family have announced.

Plowright won acclaim for performances during the early years of the English Stage Company at the Royal Court and the National Theatre when it was based at the Old Vic and led by her second husband, Laurence Olivier.

A statement from her family said: “It is with great sadness that the family of Dame Joan Plowright, the Lady Olivier, inform you that she passed away peacefully on January 16 2025 surrounded by her family at Denville Hall aged 95.

“She enjoyed a long and illustrious career across theatre, film and TV over seven decades until blindness made her retire.

“She cherished her last 10 years in Sussex with constant visits from friends and family, filled with much laughter and fond memories. The family are deeply grateful to Jean Wilson and all those involved in her personal care over many years.”

She and Olivier appeared together in the West End and on Broadway in John Osborne’s The Entertainer, as well as starring in the screen version. At the National, she played Portia to Olivier’s Shylock in The Merchant of Venice as well as roles including Masha in Three Sisters, Sonya in Uncle Vanya and the eponymous heroine of Shaw’s Saint Joan.

Plowright with her second husband, Laurence Olivier, in 1977. Photograph: Evening Standard/Hulton Archive/Getty Images

Plowright was born on 28 October 1929 in Brigg, Lincolnshire, and attended Scunthorpe grammar school on a scholarship. She was the second of three children of Daisy Margaret Burton and William Ernest Plowright. Her mother was an amateur actor and opera singer who taught dancing; her father was a journalist with a passion for am-dram. She always wanted to be an actor and won a drama trophy at a local theatre festival aged 15. After leaving school at 17 she worked briefly as a supply teacher before training at the Old Vic theatre school in London.

After appearing in a late-night revue in London she made her stage debut in 1948 in Croydon in a show called If Four Walls Told and then joined the Old Vic theatre company, where she met the actor Roger Gage, whom she later married. She auditioned unsuccessfully to play Bianca in Orson Welles’s stage production of Othello. Welles remembered her and cast Plowright as Pip the cabin boy in his West End version of Moby Dick in 1955.

Plowright with Oliver Ford Davies in Absolutely! (Perhaps) at Wyndham’s theatre, London, in 2003. Photograph: Tristram Kenton/The Guardian

The following year, arriving at George Devine’s English Stage Company, she “felt for the first time totally at home in a theatre” as she wrote in her memoir And That’s Not All. “I was in touch with people who cared, as I cared, about creating a theatre which was to do with the 20th century. I found my own voice as an actress, and an exhilarating sense of purpose.” William Wycherley’s The Country Wife was her first success at the Royal Court and, over several years, she starred in plays as diverse as Arnold Wesker’s Roots, Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, George Bernard Shaw’s Major Barbara (in the title role) and Eugène Ionesco’s The Chairs and The Lesson, which both transferred to the Phoenix theatre in New York, where her co-star in The Chairs was Eli Wallach.

In 1957, Plowright took over from Dorothy Tutin in the Royal Court production of John Osborne’s The Entertainer when it transferred to the West End. It introduced her to Laurence Olivier, who was playing the faded music-hall star Archie Rice, the father of her character. Olivier had been impressed by Plowright’s performance in The Country Wife and jokily renamed her “Miss Wheelshare”. The Entertainer also became a film and Plowright would later choose a recording of Olivier singing Why Should I Care? as Archie Rice for one of her selections on Desert Island Discs. She went with the play to Broadway and later earned a Tony award playing Jo, the pregnant teenager in Shelagh Delaney’s A Taste of Honey, with Angela Lansbury in the role of her mother.

In 1960, Olivier and Plowright starred in a stage production of Ionesco’s Rhinoceros directed by Orson Welles at the Royal Court. That year, Plowright divorced Gage. In 1961, Plowright married Olivier after sustained media coverage of their relationship and the end of his marriage to Vivien Leigh.

During Olivier’s directorship of the National, Plowright’s roles included Beatrice in Much Ado about Nothing and Hilda Wangel in The Master Builder. In 1973, Franco Zeffirelli directed her in Eduardo de Filippo’s family drama Saturday, Sunday, Monday, where, she told the Observer: “I had to cook a ragout live on stage. The delicious smell sent people out at the interval looking happy but very hungry and the sale of sandwiches rocketed.” Zeffirelli directed her again in 1977 in De Filippo’s Filumena Marturano and again in 2003 in the Pirandello adaptation Absolutely! (Perhaps), both in London.

In 1988, Plowright directed a play about Marie Stopes, Married Love, and in 1990 she acted with her two daughters, Julie-Kate and Tamsin Olivier, in a production of Time and the Conways directed by her son, Richard Olivier. By that time her film career had gathered pace. In Peter Greenaway’s Drowning By Numbers she played the mother of Joely Richardson and Juliet Stevenson. There followed roles in an adaptation of Beryl Bainbridge’s The Dressmaker, the offbeat comedy I Love You to Death and Enchanted April, which was filmed in Portofino on the Italian Riviera and brought her an Oscar nomination for her performance as an imperious widow. The popular film Tea With Mussolini brought her back to Italy and back to Zeffirelli, casting her alongside fellow dames Maggie Smith and Judi Dench. She played the surrogate mother of a boy modelled on Zeffirelli.

In 2013, Plowright reprised her role as Saint Joan for a speech used at the 50th birthday celebration of the National Theatre. In 2018, she reminisced on her career alongside Dench, Smith and Eileen Atkins in Roger Michell’s film Nothing Like a Dame.

I am deeply saddened to share the news that Joan Plowright, the celebrated star of stage and screen, has passed away at the age of 95. Plowright was a true legend in the world of acting, known for her incredible talent, grace, and versatility.

Throughout her illustrious career, Plowright graced the stage with her presence in numerous acclaimed productions, earning critical acclaim and numerous awards along the way. She also made a lasting impact on the world of film, with memorable performances in movies such as “Enchanted April,” “Tea with Mussolini,” and “Dennis the Menace.”

Plowright’s talent, charm, and wit will be greatly missed by her legions of fans around the world. Her legacy will live on through her unforgettable performances and the countless lives she touched with her work.

Rest in peace, Joan Plowright. You will always be remembered as a true icon of the stage and screen.

Flick asks Joan Laporta to sell or give him away because he is not Barcelona level

Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick has reportedly reached out to Barcelona president Joan Laporta, asking him to either sell or give away the German coach because he believes he does not have the level to manage the Catalan club.

After a disappointing season with Bayern Munich, where they failed to win any major trophies, Flick has been rumored to be interested in a move to Barcelona. However, it seems that the coach himself is not confident in his ability to succeed at the club.

In a statement released to the press, Flick expressed his desire to part ways with Barcelona, stating that he does not believe he is the right fit for the team and that he would prefer to move on to a different challenge.

It remains to be seen how Laporta will respond to Flick’s request, but it is clear that the German coach is not convinced that he has what it takes to lead Barcelona to success. Only time will tell what the future holds for Flick and his coaching career.

Why ‘MAGA-patriot’ Joan Collins will always be in Donald Trump’s corner

Joan Collins regards Donald Trump as a close friend, according to sources who say the Hollywood icon has ‘never been shy about her love’ for the politician.

The Dynasty star, 91, raised eyebrows this week after she was named as a pro-MAGA patriot while attending a ‘pre-inauguration celebration’ with right-wing friends.

The iconic actress was seen having a ‘lovely dinner with friends’ in a picture shared by conservative actor James Woods to his X account.

Seeing the star alongside Woods and other outspoken MAGA fanatics led many fans to share their surprise that Collins is associated with the group.

However, a source exclusively explained to DailyMail.com that it should come as ‘no surprise at all’ as the president-elect is one of her pals.

‘To Joan, Donald is not just a former president and soon-to-be MAGA president…’ the insider began. ‘She has run in his circle for 40 years and they have so much love for one another.’

The source noted that Collins has openly praised Trump for helping to inspire her beloved Dynasty character, Alexis Carrington Colby.

‘It is no secret that Joan modeled her infamous Alexis character on Dynasty after Donald,’ the insider continued. ‘She has discussed her inspiration countless times over the years and said it was half Donald Trump and half another friend of hers.

‘She took Donald’s “ruthlessness” for Alexis. Joan has never been shy about her love for Donald.’

The source also highlighted Collins’ close relationship to both Trump and his late ex-wife, Ivanna.

The insider added: ‘But it was not only Donald that is a huge part of her life but Donald’s ex-wife Ivanna, Ivanka’s mom. Joan and Ivanna were so beyond close and remained friends until Ivanna’s death.

‘Joan was heartbroken when Ivanna passed because she was one of the only people who truly got her. She never let Donald and Ivanna’s divorce change her love and respect for each of them.’

Opening up about the British icon’s decision to support her friend amid his political campaigns, the insider continued: ‘Joan has always been quiet about her political affiliations because she does not believe this needs to be broadcast.’

DailyMail.com has contacted reps for Collins for comment.

Collins’ fifth husband Percy Gibson, 60, was also at the gathering which had started out as a ‘post-Christmas dinner.’

Woods explained in the picture caption: ‘It evolved from a post-Christmas dinner to a pre-Inauguration celebration. Not often in Hollywood you can be surrounded by patriots. What a joyous night.’

Also in attendance was actor Jon Voight, who is Angelina Jolie‘s father.

The star has made no secret of his love for Trump and was recently seen enjoying the election result at the president-elect’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

In 2017, while appearing on the Jonathan Ross show, Collins opened up about Trump being the inspiration for her character Alexis.

‘I actually wrote about it years and years ago, that one of the people mentioned was Donald Trump,’ she stated at the time.

Collins said she was drawn to Trump ‘because he was a very harsh, tough, clever, devious and manipulative.’

The acting icon added that she had seen Trump several years before when she was buying an apartment in New York, and said the businessman was ‘very interested’ in her moving into Trump Tower.

The source added: 'She took Donald¿s ¿ruthlessness¿ for Alexis. Joan has never been shy about her love for Donald'

‘Thank god we didn’t!’ she added. ‘You know what it’s like now, you have to go through security.’

She opened up once again about the inspiration Trump provided for her character during a ‘flirty’ interview with Louis Theroux in November.

‘I said when I was asked about my character Alexis, who did I think of when preparing, I said ‘well a mixture of Donald Trump’, who was not president then, he was just a businessman’, and a friend of mine who was a very glamorous woman about town who was very clever, so I wanted to have a mixture of them,’ she recalled.

Louis then asked what specific qualities of Trump she incorporated into the character, with the actress pinpointing his ‘ruthlessness.’

But the Dame refused to be drawn into a discussion on politics saying: ‘I am trying not to get involved politically. I am an actress so I don’t think we should spout our political opinions.

Only to quip: ‘Well let’s say that if you played him in a movie people would say ‘no, that’s too over the top”.

British-born Collins has previously hailed the achievements of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Joan Collins, the iconic actress known for her roles in Dynasty and numerous other films, has made it clear that she is a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump. Despite the controversies surrounding Trump’s presidency, Collins has remained unwavering in her loyalty to the self-proclaimed “MAGA-patriot.”

In a recent interview, Collins explained that she believes Trump is a true patriot who genuinely cares about America and its people. She credits him with revitalizing the economy, securing the border, and standing up to foreign adversaries. Collins also admires Trump’s no-nonsense approach to politics and his willingness to take on the establishment.

While some may view Collins’ support for Trump as controversial, she remains unapologetic in her stance. She firmly believes that Trump is the best person to lead the country and will continue to stand by him no matter what.

For Joan Collins, being a ‘MAGA-patriot’ means standing up for what she believes in and supporting the leader she feels is best for America. And as long as Trump is in the political arena, Collins will always be in his corner.
