  • The big January jobs report comes out Friday. Here’s what to expect

A hiring sign is posted on the door of a Taco Bell in Alexandria, Virginia, on Aug. 22, 2024.

The U.S. labor market likely began 2025 in solid fashion, in a bit of a step down from where it closed the previous year.

When the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases its nonfarm payrolls count for January, it is projected to show growth of 169,000, down from 256,000 in December, but nearly in line with the past three-month average. The unemployment rate is projected to stay at 4.1%, according to the Dow Jones consensus for the report, which will be out Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET.

While the takeaway could be that job creation is slowing, the broader view is that the employment picture is holding solid, and it’s not likely to be a problem for the Federal Reserve any time in the near future.

“With inflation at least for now at tolerable levels and firms very comfortable making sustained investment, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t continue to see job growth around 150,000 per month, which is the upper end of what’s needed to keep the labor market stable,” said Joseph Brusuelas, chief economist at RSM. “In other words, we’re at full employment. This is a good problem to have.”

By the time the Fed concluded its final three meetings of 2024, it had cut its key borrowing rate by a full percentage point. In good part, this was because policymakers sought to support a labor market that showed signs of weakening.

However, recent indicators show that while hiring has leveled off, layoffs aren’t increasing and workers aren’t quitting, though job openings are on the decline.

Such relative stability is a welcome sign with the likelihood that the Fed will be on hold, possibly until summer, while officials wait to see the fallout of President Donald Trump‘s fiscal agenda that includes aggressive tariffs against the largest U.S. trading partners.

“The economy is still going to roll on, people are going to make investment decisions, they’re going to get up each morning and go to work,” Brusuelas said.

    Annual revisions to take focus

Though the usual payroll number is expected to show more or less status quo conditions, markets also will be watching annual benchmark revisions to both the establishment and household surveys that the BLS compiles.

When the initial revisions were released in August 2024, they showed a stunning 818,000 fewer jobs created than previously reported in the establishment count from April 2023 to March 2024. That total is expected to come down considerably as adjustments are made for immigration and population.

The revisions also are projected to show a record increase of 3.5 million in the population and 2.3 million in household employment, according to Goldman Sachs. The firm sees more modest adjustments upward in labor force participation and unemployment.

The two BLS surveys have differed sharply in the post-Covid years. The establishment survey is used to calculate the nonfarm payrolls number while the BLS derives the unemployment rate from the household count. The latter has shown a less optimistic view of employment conditions that could be corrected with the revisions.

In any event, if the report comes in anywhere near expectations, it’s unlikely to move the needle for the Fed even with the tariff question lingering.

“The labor market is a lot more important to the Fed than what’s going on with tariffs,” said Eric Winograd, director of developed market economic research at AllianceBernstein. “The payrolls numbers are volatile. Anything can happen in any given month. But there’s nothing in particular that makes me think that this month’s print will look meaningfully different than the past few, and that’s enough to keep the Fed on hold.”

In addition to the headline payroll numbers and revisions, the BLS will also release data on average hourly earnings.

The estimate is for January to show a 0.3% increase in wages and a 3.7% 12-month increase. If the annual figure is correct, it will be the lowest level since July 2024.

The big January jobs report is set to be released this Friday, and all eyes are on what the numbers will reveal about the state of the economy. With the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and various economic challenges facing the country, this report will provide crucial insights into the job market and overall economic recovery.

Economists are predicting that the January jobs report will show a modest increase in job growth, with expectations ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 new jobs added. This would mark a slight improvement from the previous month’s report, which showed a disappointing increase of just 199,000 jobs.

In addition to job growth, analysts will also be closely watching other key indicators in the report, such as the unemployment rate, wage growth, and labor force participation rate. These numbers will provide important context for understanding the overall health of the labor market and the progress being made in the economic recovery.

As we await the release of the January jobs report, it’s important to keep in mind that these numbers are just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to understanding the state of the economy. While a strong report would be a positive sign for the recovery, it’s also important to consider the broader economic context and the challenges that still lie ahead.

Stay tuned for the release of the January jobs report this Friday, and be prepared to analyze the numbers with a critical eye to understand what they mean for the economy moving forward.

  • Gov. JB Pritzker bans convicted Jan. 6 participants from consideration for state jobs, in memo

    CBS News Chicago

    Live

CHICAGO (CBS) — Governor JB Pritzker is calling on the Department of Central Management Services to reject those pardoned by President Trump for their involvement in the Jan. 6 attacks at the U.S. Capitol for consideration for state jobs.

In a letter addressed to director Raven DeVaughn, Pritzker says those who participated in attacks violated the State’s personnel code.

“I hereby direct CMS to apply the State Personnel Code and consider any participation in the January 6 insurrection as infamous and disgraceful conduct that is antithetical to the mission of the State,” the letter said.

Upon returning to office, Mr. Trump signed about 200 executive orders, one including pardons to defendants convicted of crimes stemming from the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

Federal judges in Washington, D.C., who presided over the cases, strongly opposed the order.

In a recent memo, Gov. JB Pritzker has announced that individuals who were convicted participants in the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol will be banned from consideration for state jobs. This decision comes as a firm stance against those who participated in the violent attack on democracy and seeks to uphold the values of accountability and integrity within the state government. Governor Pritzker’s actions serve as a reminder that individuals who engage in such dangerous and unlawful behavior will face consequences for their actions.

  • Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker blocks Jan. 6 rioters from state jobs after Trump pardons

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is blocking those who took part in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol from working in state jobs, ignoring President Donald Trump’s attempt to offer them a clean slate last week in a sweeping set of pardons and commutations.

Late Thursday, Pritzker directed the state’s Department of Central Management Services, the state’s primary hiring authority, to restrict hiring of those who took part in the attack on the Capitol by declaring they had taken part in “infamous and disgraceful conduct that is antithetical to the mission of the State.”

“These rioters attacked law enforcement officers protecting people in the Capitol, disrupted the peaceful transfer of power, and undermined bedrock principles of American democracy,” Pritzker said in a written directive obtained by NBC News. “Our State workforce must reflect the values of Illinois and demonstrate honesty, integrity, and loyalty to serving the taxpayers. No one who attempts to overthrow a government should serve in government.”

Pritzker’s new directive marks the first and most direct pushback to Trump’s power spree that has tested the bounds of presidential authority through a fray of executive orders, including some that have drawn judicial rebuke. The Democratic governor of the Midwestern blue state has for years acted as an antagonist to Trump.

Pritzker’s directive is likely to draw legal challenges, but sources familiar with it said that working through the personnel code was thought to serve as the best legal footing should it face court pushback.

In his first day in office last week, Trump issued a sweeping order that pardoned about 1,500 people and commuted the sentences of 14 others who had stormed the Capitol building in the wake of Trump making false claims that the 2020 presidential election Joe Biden won was stolen.

Individuals associated with the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, who were convicted of seditious conspiracy, were among those who were commuted. Trump deemed “a full, complete and unconditional pardon to all other individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021,” a category that included people who assaulted law enforcement officers.

The Chicago Sun-Times previously reported that Trump’s actions in absolving those taking part in Jan. 6, may have affected more than 50 Illinois residents, including those still facing prosecution, since Trump also ordered the attorney general to seek dismissal of all pending indictments. Illinois employs roughly 53,000 individuals.

Pritzker has also pushed back on other Trump actions, including to a recent, confusing memo that called for a freeze in federal aid. A judge in Washington, D.C. temporarily blocked that directive, and the following day, the White House rescinded the memo.

“The US Constitution does not grant the President this unilateral authority,” Pritzker wrote on X. “In Illinois, we will stand against unlawful actions that would harm millions of working families, children, and seniors.”

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker Takes Action Against Jan. 6 Rioters In State Jobs After Trump’s Pardons

In a bold move to uphold law and order, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has announced that individuals involved in the January 6th Capitol riot will be barred from holding state jobs in the state. This decision comes in response to former President Donald Trump’s recent pardons of individuals convicted in connection to the violent insurrection.

Governor Pritzker’s decision sends a strong message that those who participated in the attack on the Capitol and sought to undermine the democratic process will face consequences for their actions. By blocking these individuals from state jobs, Pritzker is taking a stand against those who seek to sow division and chaos in our society.

This move by Governor Pritzker serves as a reminder that there are consequences for actions that threaten the foundations of our democracy. It also sends a clear message that Illinois will not tolerate individuals who seek to incite violence and subvert the rule of law.

As we continue to reckon with the fallout from the January 6th riot, Governor Pritzker’s decisive action against the rioters is a welcome step towards accountability and justice. Illinois residents can rest assured that their state government is committed to upholding the principles of democracy and ensuring that those who seek to undermine it will be held accountable.

  • Broncos coaching vacancies: Where Sean Payton, team stand with four jobs to fill

Early in Sean Payton’s tenure as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, he was approached by late owner Tom Benson with a concern.

Teams around the league were requesting to interview assistants on Payton’s staff for potential promotions. Benson was worried the Saints would lose talented coaches just as they were becoming a contender in the NFC. Payton responded that the overtures were encouraging. It meant they were bringing the right people into the building.

“I said, ‘Be more worried if no one’s interested in interviewing any of them,’” Payton told Benson.

Payton and the Broncos are now tasked with filling four vacancies on their coaching staff, and that’s partly because two assistants, pass-game coordinator John Morton and tight ends coach Declan Doyle, have been hired as the new offensive coordinators with the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears, respectively. Morton will replace Ben Johnson, now the head coach of the Bears, as Detroit’s play caller. Doyle won’t have play-calling duties under Johnson, but it is nonetheless a big step up in game-planning responsibility for a young coach who spent his past two seasons with the Broncos after spending the previous four seasons as an offensive assistant in New Orleans (three with Payton).

    go-deeper

    GO DEEPER

Bears hire Allen, Doyle as coordinators for new coach

“I feel like I have a number of coaches on this staff that someday when I’m just sitting on a golf course, I’ll be able to look at a picture and see these guys in those positions,” Payton said at season’s end. “That starts with the very beginning process of hiring the right people. … It’s the product of winning, though. It’s the product of winning.”

Payton also will be searching for a new special teams coordinator after firing Ben Kotwica shortly after Denver’s 31-7 wild-card loss to the Buffalo Bills earlier this month. Payton also parted ways with inside linebackers coach Greg Manusky, the NFL Network first reported Tuesday, leaving the veteran head coach with at least four spots to fill.

The Broncos have not announced any interviews for the open positions, but there are Payton connections who could make sense as candidates.

An in-house option for the special teams role, Chris Banjo, has reportedly received interest from several other teams for the same position, including an interview with the San Francisco 49ers. Banjo is a former NFL defensive back who played under Payton (Saints) and defensive coordinator Vance Joseph (Arizona Cardinals) at various points in his NFL career. He spent his final pro season with the Cardinals in 2022 and immediately joined Denver’s staff as the assistant special teams coordinator in 2023. He took on greater responsibility in the room midway through this season after Mike Westhoff, the assistant head coach who oversaw the special teams operation, left the team for medical reasons.

Payton also has a strong connection to former Saints special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi, who became the team’s interim head coach this season after Dennis Allen was fired after a Week 7 loss to the Broncos. Rizzi, who has interviewed for the permanent, still-to-be-filled head coach job with the Saints, was the special teams coordinator in New Orleans during Payton’s final three seasons there. He spent the prior decade coaching special teams with the Miami Dolphins.

One option to fill the pass-game coordinator role could be adding that title to quarterbacks coach Davis Webb, who has spent the past two seasons on Payton’s staff. Webb was instrumental in developing Bo Nix, whose 29 touchdown passes in 2024 were the second-most by a rookie quarterback in NFL history. The double-title role would be similar to what Ronald Curry, another former Payton assistant, has in Buffalo as the team’s passing-game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Davis Webb played an instrumental role in Bo Nix’s successful rookie season. (Dustin Bradford / Getty Images)

One name to watch for the newly vacated inside linebackers assistant role in Denver is Rob Ninkovich. The former NFL linebacker and defensive end was part of Payton’s first draft class (fifth round, 2006) in New Orleans and played two different one-season stints with the Saints before ultimately spending the final eight seasons of his career with the New England Patriots, two of which ended in Super Bowl victories. Ninkovich attended a Broncos practice during Payton’s first training camp in Denver, and he said during a recent interview with Betway.com that Payton has “contacted me a couple times about working together.”

“One opportunity was with the Saints, and when you have young kids it’s really difficult to jump into that profession because of the time commitment and the potential for movement,” Ninkovich said. “When Sean was in Denver, another opportunity popped up for me, and again you have to make sure that everybody’s on the same page because we’re going to do this, we’re going to be all in.”

Ninkovich coached high school football this year, and though it’s unclear whether he’s ready to go “all in,” it appears there will be NFL opportunities if and when he’s ready for them.

Even with shuffling ahead, there will still be continuity at key spots on Denver’s coaching staff. Joseph appears set to return for his third season as the team’s defensive coordinator in 2025. He conducted a defense last season that had a franchise-record 63 sacks and finished the regular season ranked third in opponent scoring (18.3 points per game) and seventh in opponent total offense (317.1 yards per game). Joseph subsequently had interviews for head coach roles with the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets, but those positions were filled by Pete Carroll and former Payton assistant Aaron Glenn, respectively.

Joseph will continue working with secondary coach Jim Leonhard, who drew interest from other NFL teams for defensive coordinator roles but is expected to remain in Denver for a second season with the Broncos. Leonhard was instrumental in developing cornerback Riley Moss, who provided a stable outside presence as a first-year starter opposite Defensive Player of the Year finalist Pat Surtain II.

Expect Payton to have his new staff fully in place by the time he and other coaches head to next month’s NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

    Broncos help Colorado high schools

The Broncos on Tuesday announced a massive investment that will result in the distribution of new, state-of-the-art Riddell Axiom football helmets to each of the 277 high school tackle football programs in Colorado. The move comes on the heels of a Broncos-led initiative to have girls flag football sanctioned as a varsity sport with the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA).

The newest initiative, which began as an idea at a Broncos Foundation board meeting last August, will ultimately deliver 15,000 helmets to programs across the state — from 6-man to 5A classifications — at no cost to the schools. The team said in a statement that it is “the largest philanthropic investment in Broncos history.”

“It is hard to wrap your mind around an initiative that will have the kind of impact this one will have,” CHSAA commissioner Mike Krueger said Tuesday.

Some Broncos use the Axiom model. Helmets are customized for each player through a 3D imaging system that ensures the proper fit to improve impact response. In addition to the helmets, each school will receive a four-year subscription to InSite Analytics and a Riddell Sideline Device that monitors and analyzes team impact history. The data produced, Krueger said, will help coaches structure workouts to reduce head injuries.

The Denver Broncos are facing a crucial offseason with four coaching vacancies to fill. One name that has been circulating in rumors is Sean Payton, the longtime head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Payton has been with the Saints since 2006 and has led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2009. He is known for his offensive prowess and innovative play-calling, making him a desirable candidate for any team in need of a head coach.

However, it remains to be seen if Payton is interested in leaving the Saints for the Broncos. The two teams would have to negotiate a trade for Payton, as he is still under contract with the Saints. Additionally, Payton may be hesitant to leave the stability and success he has found in New Orleans.

As the Broncos continue their search for a new head coach, they will have to consider all their options and make the best decision for the future of the team. Payton may be a long shot, but he could bring a winning mentality and offensive firepower to a team in need of a spark.

Stay tuned for updates on the Broncos coaching search and potential candidates for the job. The team is at a crossroads and the decisions they make in the coming weeks could have a lasting impact on the franchise.

  • Brokaw: Hallmark+ show with Lacey Chabert throws ‘Celebrations’ for everyday heroes | News, Sports, Jobs

    Courtesy image

“Celebrations with Lacey Chabert” is streaming on Hallmark+.

One of Hallmark’s favorite actresses, Lacey Chabert, steps away from the scripts in her new series, “Celebrations with Lacey Chabert.” Besides hosting this series, she is also the executive producer of this 10-episode series on Hallmark+.

Chabert has starred in 38 Hallmark movies and is still working hard at creating dramatic content for the network. In “Celebrations with Lacey Chabert,” she celebrates the accomplishments of people in the community who have made an impact in some way or another.

Through each episode, Chabert is joined by her friends to honor everyday heroes who have no idea they are heroes, and have no idea they are about to be surprised with a celebration just for them.

“Lacey Chabert shares the same passion for celebrating everyday heroes as we do at Hallmark,” said Hamilton Daly, executive vice president of programming for Hallmark Media. “Lacey’s natural warmth and genuine nature make her a perfect fit for this series.”

“As a lifelong DIY enthusiast, I fell in love with party planning while coming up with creative ways to bring my daughter’s birthday parties to life,” Chabert said. “I am so excited to lend my love of crafts to create joyous moments for deserving people. This is going to be an epic party as we celebrate real-life heroes, complete with the ups and downs that only unscripted television can capture.”

Chabert said she still loves doing the Hallmark movies. “And in doing ‘Celebrations,’ it was such a joy to bring to life because we get to celebrate unsung heroes and everyday heroes who oftentimes don’t have a spotlight on them and just deserve to be thanked and to realize the profound effect that they have in their communities,” she said. “And I met so many amazing people along the journey, and it’s such a beautiful show that I am so proud to be a part of.”

The actress considers Hallmark her home and has stayed with the network for many years because of the warm feeling she has there. Hallmark has afforded her many opportunities, not least of which is this new series, which she is extremely excited about and proud to bring to the viewers.

Chabert explained, ” I learned as much as I could about the person and their story. And, honestly, most of it is live and on the job because you end up talking to their family members or co-workers or people there that they’ve affected their lives for the better, and they tell you so much about them. And then, you find out so much about this person. And then, finally, with the help of these incredible party planners, Lisa and Marissa, we throw them a huge surprise celebration at the end.”

“I’ve always wanted to do a show that I get to throw these amazing parties because it’s something I love doing in real life, and let’s do it for deserving kids. … And then, here we are. We’ve actually gotten to make that show. And it’s just such a blessing. And I just love that we are all able to creatively have a voice and help bring these things to life. And it’s really just been an incredible journey.”

  • Robert Saleh remains in play for multiple head-coaching jobs

Yes, former Jets coach Robert Saleh will be returning to the 49ers as defensive coordinator. But the dust won’t fully settle until the head-coaching jobs for which he’s under consideration are filled.

Although he canceled his flight to Jacksonville after all signs pointed to Liam Coen, Saleh remains in play for the head-coaching openings in Las Vegas and Dallas. He has interviewed for both jobs.

That said, the Cowboys reportedly are focused on Brian Schottenheimer. In Las Vegas, the rumor mill has been pointing to Pete Carroll. But until both jobs are filled, Saleh remains in play.

If, in the end, others are hired by the Cowboys and Raiders, Saleh will be back in the job that positioned him to become the head coach of the Jets.

Robert Saleh remains in play for multiple head-coaching jobs

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh has been generating a lot of interest in the NFL head-coaching market. Despite the 49ers missing the playoffs this season, Saleh’s work with the team’s defense has not gone unnoticed.

Saleh, who has been with the 49ers since 2017, has been credited with turning around the team’s defense and helping them reach the Super Bowl in 2020. He is known for his high energy and intensity on the sidelines, as well as his ability to motivate and inspire his players.

Several teams have reportedly expressed interest in Saleh for their head-coaching vacancies, including the Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, and New York Jets. Saleh has already interviewed with the Lions and Falcons, and is scheduled to interview with the Jets as well.

While Saleh has yet to secure a head-coaching job, it seems likely that he will be a top candidate for several teams in need of a defensive-minded leader. With his track record of success and his reputation as a strong leader, Saleh could be a valuable addition to any team looking to improve their defense and culture.

It remains to be seen where Saleh will end up, but one thing is for certain – he is definitely in play for multiple head-coaching jobs in the NFL.

  • Ranking NFL’s available head coaching jobs: Cowboys edge Jaguars for most coveted opening

And then, there were four. Following the hirings of Ben Johnson (to the Bears) and Aaron Glenn (to the Jets), four NFL teams are still searching for their next head coach with the start of free agency less than two months away.

The Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars are the teams that are still trying to figure how who will lead them in 2025. Jacksonville is also now in the market for a new general manager after parting ways with Trent Baalke this week.

Each position has its pros and cons. But which one offers the best situation, and conversely, which one appears to be the least attractive opening? Here’s a ranking of each opening, starting with the most attractive landing spot.

    1. Cowboys

Surprised to see the Cowboys’ opening at the top? I am. Dallas has an owner who is also the general manager, little cap space to work with and plays in arguably the NFL’s most competitive division. When you consider those things, this doesn’t seem like an ideal spot.

Those things are true, but there are plenty of reasons why the Cowboys’ head coaching position is a great situation. While he clearly presents some challenges for any coach, there is no denying Jerry Jones’ desire to win another championship while snapping the Cowboys’ long drought without an NFC title game appearance. Jones has other priorities, but the Cowboys being successful is near the top of his list. That’s never a bad thing to have from ownership.

There’s also a blueprint for how to work with Jones, and that’s by working alongside him and embracing his inclusion in everything the Cowboys do. In the beginning, that’s the relationship that Jones shared with Jimmy Johnson, and the result was back-to-back Super Bowl wins.

The Cowboys have also an ideal starting point with Dak Prescott at quarterback. You can’t win in the NFL without a franchise quarterback, and the Cowboys have one, which is something that two other teams looking for a head coach can’t say. Along with Prescott, the Cowboys also have other key building blocks in place with wideout CeeDee Lamb, linebacker Micah Parsons, cornerback Trevon Diggs, kicker Brandon Aubrey, special teams ace KaVontae Turpin and emerging running back Rico Dowdle

Yes, there are legitimate issues in Dallas. The Cowboys have more contracts (like Parsons) to address, and they need to make significant upgrades at several positions, including the offensive line. But there are way more positives than negatives here. It also helps that the Cowboys don’t play in the AFC, which fields four of the NFL’s top quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow

    2. Jaguars

While this past season was an unmitigated disaster, there are still several reasons why Jacksonville is an attractive spot.

It’s easy to forget, but the Jaguars are just a year removed from a 9-8 season and two years removed from winning a playoff game. The Jaguars have a franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence and promising young players like Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Etienne. They are in the middle of the pack in terms of expected salary cap space for 2025, but they are armed with 10 picks in the upcoming draft that include six in the first four rounds.

Whomever the Jaguars select as their next GM will obviously go a long way in determining how good of a job this truly is. Jacksonville needs its next coach and GM to work together while sharing the same vision as far as roster and culture building.

    3. Saints

There’s considerable work to be done, but the Saints have the ability to get back to being a playoff-contending team relatively quickly.

Let’s lay out the positives first. The Saints play in a winnable division and have several building blocks to work around in running back Alvin Kamara, wideout Chris Olave, 2023 first-round pick Bryan Bresee and veteran defenders Tyrann Mathieu, Cameron Jordan and Demario Davis. The Saints won their first two games in convincing fashion last year before injuries and several close losses quickly sent their season into a tailspin.

Speaking of veterans, the Saints also have 33-year-old quarterback Derek Carr, who played OK last year before his season ended early due to an injury. New Orleans also has two other quarterback projects in Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener, who both got chances to start last year.

New Orleans is in salary cap hell, so barring some big internal roster moves, don’t expect the Saints to be movers and shakers in free agency. They do have eight draft picks, however, that include six in the first four rounds.

    4. Raiders

Las Vegas doesn’t have much to get excited about from a roster standpoint. There’s a reason why the Raiders finished with a 4-13 record, after all. But that may not be a terrible thing for a head coach that is OK with a rebuild. The Raiders’ next head coach will likely be given an opportunity to start from the ground up in an effort to establish sustainable success, something that alluded this proud franchise for the majority of this century.

The Raiders will have a ton of cap space at their disposal heading into free agency, so they should be able to fill many of their roster needs there. Las Vegas also owns eight picks in the upcoming draft, including the No. 6 overall pick.

It should also be noted that the Raiders have Tom Brady working with them as a minority owner. It’s well-known that Brady has been active in the team’s head coaching search, which is clearly a good thing. In Brady, the Raiders have someone who knows what a winning culture looks like, and that’s something the seven-time Super Bowl champion is hoping to bring to Las Vegas, starting with the team’s next head coach.

With several NFL head coaching positions up for grabs this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars stand out as two of the most coveted openings.

The Cowboys, a storied franchise with a passionate fan base and a talented roster led by star quarterback Dak Prescott, have long been seen as one of the most desirable coaching jobs in the league. Despite underperforming in recent seasons, the potential for success in Dallas is undeniable.

On the other hand, the Jaguars, who have struggled in recent years and currently hold the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, may not have the same immediate success as the Cowboys. However, with a young and promising roster, including quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars have the potential for a bright future.

Ultimately, the Cowboys edge out the Jaguars for the most coveted coaching job due to their history of success, passionate fan base, and talented roster. However, both teams present unique opportunities for a head coach looking to make their mark in the NFL.
