  • Isaiah Joe’s ‘pretty easy’ take on playing alongside Thunder veteran

After missing two consecutive games due to illness, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Isaiah Joe returned to the floor along with Thunder veteran Isaiah Hartenstein in Sunday’s win against the Portland Trail Blazers. Joe led the bench with 16 points on 6-of-11 attempts, including 3-for-7 from deep, and four rebounds. Hartenstein finished with a double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds) in the starting lineup but also shared the floor with Joe and the second unit.

Joe and Hartenstein’s two-man game stood out during significant stretches, including the Thunder’s 39-point second quarter, during which Isaiah scored 11 of his 16 points.

“It’s been good. It’s been pretty easy the way that we play as a unit to integrate that onto the court,” Joe said. “Obviously, he creates action very well. We kind of go hand in hand with that. So, just continuing to improve on that has been good.”

For Joe, stringing together defensive stops triggered his and the Thunder’s offense throughout the second quarter.

“Getting stops first and foremost, being able to get stops, but then on the offensive end, I thought we played the right way,” Joe said. “Ball was moving, had energy. Everybody out there was going. And so, all five contributed in that run, but I think it started on the defensive end.”

After Jalen Williams connected from behind the arc, Hartenstein found Joe for a three to open the second quarter. Then, Hartenstein connected with Joe for a driving layup before finishing the second quarter by scoring five of his 14 points and dishing all three assists to Isaiah.

Williams finished with 24 points, including connecting on a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line, eight assists, two blocks, and one steal in Sunday’s win.

Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault praised Jalen Williams for his work getting to the free-throw line more often. After going 6-for-7 from the free-throw line in a 123-114 win against the Jazz, Williams went 7-for-10 in the Thunder’s 121-115 loss against the Mavericks.

Daigneault gave his starting forward credit for his hard work, per The Oklahoman’s Joel Lorenzi.

“For a young guy that’s ambitious, that is having success in other areas of his game, to have the foresight and maturity to be able to say, ‘You know what? This is an area that is going to allow me to be a better player and allow us to be a better team. I’m going to focus on it, even in the face of failure.’ I have respect for that,” Daigneault said.

The Thunder will conclude their two-game road trip against the Warriors on Wednesday.

Isaiah Joe’s ‘Pretty Easy’ Take on Playing Alongside Thunder Veteran

In a recent interview, Isaiah Joe, the promising young guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, shared his thoughts on playing alongside veteran players in the league. Despite being only in his second year in the NBA, Joe has already made a name for himself with his sharpshooting and defensive prowess.

When asked about what it’s like to play alongside seasoned veterans on the Thunder roster, Joe had a simple response: “It’s pretty easy.” He went on to explain that having experienced players around him has helped him learn and grow as a player, giving him valuable insights and advice on how to navigate the challenges of the league.

Joe also emphasized the importance of being a sponge and soaking up as much knowledge as possible from his veteran teammates. He credited them with helping him improve his game and develop his skills, both on and off the court.

With his humble attitude and willingness to learn, Isaiah Joe is poised to continue making an impact in the league and prove himself as a valuable asset for the Thunder. And with the guidance of his veteran teammates, the sky’s the limit for this talented young player.

  • Isaiah Joe’s 3-Point Percentage is Rapidly Climbing

The Thunder has dominated competition all season long, cruising to the NBA’s best record. Of course, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is leading the charge, but the rest of the team is legit too. Oklahoma City is well constructed and deliberately built, and it’s showing in a big way this season.

To start the season, Oklahoma City relied on stellar defense. With the offense coming out flat and needing time to adjust, the defense had to step up and anchor the young team. But now, the offense has caught up and the product has been the juggernaut we see now.

Oklahoma City is fifth in points scored, 11th in field goal percentage, and first in free throw percentage. The Thunder also takes care of the ball at a premium, committing the fewest turnovers in the NBA. After starting the season relatively cold from 3-point range, the team is a top-half shooting squad in the NBA. While the team’s outside shooting percentage is rising, so is the team’s sharpshooter Isaiah Joe’s.

Joe suffered through a big time shooting slump to start the year — by his standards anyways. He was hovering around the 35-37% range for most of the season before January began, but he has been on quite the heater lately. Although it hasn’t necessarily swayed the outcome of any game, it’s encouraging to see. When the court shrinks in the playoffs, this is the version of Joe that the team will need.

Over the last 10 games, Joe is averaging 12.8 points per game on 51.7% from the floor and an astounding 48.5% from 3-point range. The last 10 games have also included two separate contests featuring eight made triples. On the season, Joe is back up to 38.9% from long range while taking a career-high 6.0 attempts per contest. He’s sneaking back up to 40% and completely rebounding from his slow shooting start to the season.

Joe’s shooting has always proven to find its way back on track. Despite this slump being elongated, Joe has been a consistent sniper over the course of his Thunder stint. His slumps are more noticeable, though, considering he’s the only specialty shooter the team has.

When he’s on, Oklahoma City is at its best. This version of Joe is who the Thunder will need in the postseason.

Want to join the discussion? Like Thunder on SI on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to stay up to date on all the latest Thunder news. You can also meet the team behind the coverage.

Isaiah Joe, the sharpshooting guard for the Philadelphia 76ers, has been on fire from beyond the arc recently. His 3-point percentage has been rapidly climbing, showcasing his deadly accuracy and ability to knock down shots from long range.

In the past few games, Joe has been lighting it up from downtown, hitting shots at an impressive rate and helping the Sixers stretch the floor and create spacing for their offense. His improved shooting has been a key factor in the team’s success and has earned him praise from fans and analysts alike.

With his confidence soaring and his shot falling, Isaiah Joe is quickly becoming one of the most dangerous shooters in the league. Keep an eye on him as he continues to elevate his game and make a name for himself as a premier marksman in the NBA.

My Saint Joe’s vs Dayton College Basketball Betting Preview

These are two of the top three teams from the Atlantic 10’s Preseason Poll, but the Hawks and Flyers have had their fair share of ups and downs this season.

The road Hawks beat Villanova and Texas Tech in the non-conference, but they also have losses to Central Connecticut State, Charleston and Princeton.

Meanwhile, the Flyers have wins over UConn, Marquette and UNLV, but they also suffered a recent three-game losing streak that featured a 20-point loss to George Washington and defeats against UMass and George Mason.

So, how am I betting this matchup between two quality Atlantic 10 teams?

Well, I’ll start by saying this: The Flyers can ill-afford any more Quad 3 or Quad 4 losses. This would go down as a Quad 3 defeat, so I don’t expect Dayton to drop this one at home.

The Flyers have also rebounded nicely since that three-game hiccup, beating Loyola Chicago at home and pounding Duquesne by 20 on the road.

But I think six is way too many points against a Saint Joe’s team that has arguably the best backcourt in the Atlantic 10.

Xzayvier Brown, Erik Reynolds II and Derek Simpson is a strong three-headed attack, and that’s without even discussing versatile junior forward Rasheer Fleming, who opens up Saint Joe’s offense.

Dayton has its own powerful backcourt — Enoch Cheeks, Malachi Smith and Javon Bennett — and possesses leading scorer Nate Santos up front. However, Anthony Grant’s team could be without two key contributors, Posh Alexander (foot) and Zed Key (back).

Also, Bart Torvik has this spread closer to Dayton -3, which gives us some nice value on a team I already think is being undervalued because of its season-long inconsistencies.

As the college basketball season heats up, one of the most anticipated matchups this weekend is between Saint Joseph’s and Dayton on January 24th. Both teams have had their fair share of ups and downs this season, making this game a must-watch for fans.

The odds for this game are currently favoring Dayton, with the Flyers listed as -6.5 point favorites. However, Saint Joseph’s has proven to be a tough competitor, especially on the road, so this game could go either way.

When it comes to picks and predictions, it’s important to consider both teams’ recent performances and key players. Dayton’s Jalen Crutcher has been a standout player this season, leading the team in scoring and assists. On the other hand, Saint Joseph’s has been relying on Jordan Hall to lead the team in points and rebounds.

In terms of predictions, it’s likely to be a close game with both teams fighting for the win. However, with Dayton’s home-court advantage and strong performances from Crutcher, they may have the edge in this matchup.

Overall, this game is sure to be an exciting one for college basketball fans. Stay tuned for more updates and analysis as the game approaches.

    Moneyline

    I’m passing on the moneyline.

    Over/Under

I like the under in this game between two catch-and-shoot-reliant offenses against two solid catch-and-shoot-denial defenses.

My Pick: Under 141 or Better

VCU vs Saint Joe’s College Basketball Betting Preview

We have a wild schematic matchup between two elite A-10 squads on Friday.

Saint Joe’s runs a very entertaining dribble-handoff-based secondary-motion five-out offense that’s elite in spacing behind stretch-five Rasheer Fleming and the Erik Reynolds II-Xzayvier Brown backcourt duo.

The Hawks will always be erratic and subject to variance with their high 3-point rate, but they’re an analytically friendly, ultimately effective offense.

I’d like to think that VCU’s aggressive, press-happy defense would be vulnerable against teams with elite spacing and shooting, but that’s not quite the case. The Rams have been borderline elite in catch-and-shoot denial while also being elite in ball-screen coverage, a feat only the great Ryan Odom could pull off.

Then again, if any team can beat a press-happy defense, it’s the Hawks. Saint Joe’s ranks seventh nationally in PPP against press coverage (1.21), as these guards can slice over-aggressive defenses apart.

The Rams have an up-tempo, attack-and-kick unit with excellent spacing, which is the offense Odom has always run. VCU has its own elite backcourt, led by Max Shulga and Joe Bamisile, which should make this one a wildly entertaining guard-friendly battle.

But Saint Joe’s is also a fantastic catch-and-shoot denial defense. Fleming is an uber-versatile defender who can chase anyone around the court, and his rotations could play a significant role in closing out on the Rams’ jumpers.

Typically, I immediately look toward the under when two catch-and-shoot-reliant offenses face off against two catch-and-shoot-reliant defenses. It’s challenging for secondary-based offenses to seamlessly switch to on-ball creation, even when defenses are handing them the middle of the floor.

I’m a little scared of these two up-tempo, often-transition-reliant offenses. Still, projections also think this number is a tad high, with EvanMiya, KenPom and Bart Torvik projecting the total between 138 and 140, while Haslametrics projects it closer to 135.

Trader Joe’s is “growing at a pretty good rate right now, adding more and more stores,” Tara Miller, the company’s vice president of marketing, said in an October episode of the Inside Trader Joe’s podcast.

She also said the chain was “growing at a pace that we can sustain.”

Co-host Matt Sloan said Trader Joe’s looks “where people are” as it determines sites to open a new store.

“It could be an area where there is no currently available Trader Joe’s store,” he said during the episode. “Although it might be an area that’s really densely populated and traffic patterns are such that getting from one Trader Joe’s to another neighborhood, it may be close, but it might take a really long time, that could be interesting.”

TRADER JOE’S CHANGES GROCERTY ITEM PRICE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 20 YEARS

He said Trader Joe’s criteria for locations “are really about access and ease of getting into and out of, and the flow of traffic patterns.”

Trader Joe’s is “not interested in growth by just buying another chain and putting a different sign on the building,” Sloan also said.

“It wouldn’t really feel like a neighborhood Trader Joe’s,” he said. “So, we’re looking at things that are opportunities for us to make that neighborhood store a great Trader Joe’s for that area.”

Cosby Show actor who was forced to work at Trader Joe’s says he’s still struggling to make ends meet

A beloved ‘Cosby Show’ actor opened up having to work at Trader Joe’s and the financial struggles he continues to endure.

Geoffrey Owens, 63, widely recognized for his role as Elvin Tibideaux on the iconic TV series, made headlines in 2018 when a photo of him bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s went viral.

While some on social media mocked him for taking a ‘regular’ job, an outpouring of support soon countered the negativity.

‘At first, there was some negative stuff about basically the job-shaming. A “where is he now” kinda thing,’ he told the Atlanta’s V-103 radio station

‘But then, very soon after that, there was all this support and encouragement from all over the world.’

Owens revealed that he had to quit Trader Joe’s after the news broke.

‘It wasn’t like I quit knowing I would be making a lot of money soon or anything,’ he explained.

‘I just felt like I wasn’t going to be able to handle that kind of scrutiny and attack on my privacy.’

He spoke highly of the grocery chain and revealed that he had even requested additional hours at the store.

Owens emphasized that despite his successful acting career, he still faces financial hardship, a fact that surprised many.

‘Even today, right now, as we speak, I still struggle to make a living,’ he said.

‘I struggle every day to make my ends meet.

‘And people can’t get their heads around that because they see me in movies.’

Owens explained that his Cosby Show residuals were not substantial, and that the show’s removal from syndication significantly impacted his income.

He said that the residuals were ‘never particularly wonderful for me, I was here and there. I did maybe twenty percent of the shows.’

The viral attention in 2018 led to a surge of acting opportunities for Owens.

Tyler Perry cast him in The Haves and the Have Nots, and he landed roles in Power, Power Book II: Ghost, NCIS: New Orleans, Billions, and All Rise.

He currently appears in Damon Wayans’ sitcom Poppa’s House and recently starred in the family film Mr. Santa: A Christmas Extravaganza.

Reflecting on his time at Trader Joe’s, Owens told People in 2018 that the experience came from necessity after The Cosby Show reruns were pulled.

He said: ‘That was one of the elements that led to my getting to the place where I said to myself, ‘I have to do something’ and I was thinking, ‘What can I do?’ and the answer ended up being Trader Joe’s, which is actually a wonderful situation for me in many ways.’

The Cosby Show actor, Geoffrey Owens, who made headlines last year after being photographed working at a Trader Joe’s store, has revealed that he is still struggling to make ends meet.

Despite the outpouring of support he received after the photo went viral, Owens admitted in a recent interview that he is still facing financial challenges. The actor, who played Elvin Tibideaux on the hit 80s sitcom, explained that he has had difficulty finding acting work since the incident and has had to rely on odd jobs to make ends meet.

Owens emphasized that he is grateful for the opportunities he did receive after the Trader Joe’s photo surfaced, including a guest role on the TV show “NCIS: New Orleans.” However, he acknowledged that the entertainment industry can be unpredictable and that he is still struggling to secure steady work.

Despite the setbacks, Owens remains optimistic about his future and is determined to continue pursuing his passion for acting. He hopes that his story will inspire others to persevere in the face of adversity and never give up on their dreams.
