  • The Voice’s John Legend and Chrissy Teigen Suffer a Heartbreaking Loss

They’re singing the blues at John Legend’s house this week. The Voice coach’s wife Chrissy Teigen shared on Instagram that “our beautiful little tripod queen, Penny, passed on peacefully in her sleep today.

“Born the same day John and I got married, 11 years ago, she was there for us for every baby, every loss, every joy,” the supermodel continued. “She loved nothing more than being loved, having her nub rubbed and destroying any ball she could get her paw on, even till her last weeks.”

    More from Soaps.com

Legend and Teigen met back in 2006 when she was cast as his love interest in the music video for his single, “Stereo.” They married four years later and now have four children together. And, of course, their family has included a number of fur babies.

“Never forget that while every pup is just a few chapters in your long life,” Teigen said, “for them, you are their entire book, their entire lives.”

“Oh Penny. We were so beyond lucky to have you,” she concluded. “Say hi to Puddy and Pippa for us. You are all together again.”

In response to his missus’ post, which includes a series of heart-tugging photos of the family with Penny, Legend wrote, “I loved this girl. We will miss you, Penny.”

The Voice returns with Season 27 Monday, Feb. 3 (at 8/7c on NBC). Legend is back on the coaching panel alongside Adam Levine, returning after a looong absence, Michael Bublé, who scored a victory in his rookie season with Sofronio Vasquez, and Comeback Stage coach Kelsea Ballerini.

Check out the photo gallery below to review every Voice winner and what they’ve done since the show.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, The Voice coach John Legend and his wife, model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen, have announced the devastating loss of their unborn baby.

The couple shared the heartbreaking news on social media, with Chrissy bravely opening up about the pain and grief they are experiencing. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she wrote, “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”

John Legend also shared a message of love and support for his wife, writing, “We love you, Jack.” The couple had previously revealed that they were expecting their third child, a baby boy they had named Jack.

Our thoughts and prayers are with John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, and their family during this incredibly difficult time. May they find comfort and healing in the love and support of their fans and loved ones.

  • Lions to hire John Morton as offensive coordinator

Word on Monday was that the Lions were working to hire John Morton as their offensive coordinator.

Tuesday brings word from multiple outlets that the deal is done and that Morton is officially set to join Dan Campbell’s staff in Detroit. Morton replaces Ben Johnson, who is now the head coach of the Bears.

Morton was a senior offensive assistant with the Lions in 2022, so he has some knowledge of what Johnson did on offense with the Lions. Morton moved on to spend the last two years as the Broncos’ pass game coordinator and he’s also worked for the Raiders, Jets, Saints, and 49ers.

The Lions also have a new defensive coordinator in Kelvin Sheppard and they have other spots to fill as their staff undergoes its first major changes since Campbell was hired in 2021.

The Detroit Lions have made a big coaching move by hiring John Morton as their new offensive coordinator. Morton brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers.

Morton is known for his innovative play-calling and ability to develop young quarterbacks. With the Lions looking to revamp their offense and get back on track, Morton seems like the perfect fit for the job.

Fans are excited to see what changes Morton will bring to the Lions’ offense and how he will utilize the team’s talent to create a more dynamic and successful unit. With Morton at the helm, the Lions are hoping to turn things around and make a push for the playoffs next season.

  • John Morton hired as Detroit Lions offensive coordinator

As expected, based on the way things were trending on Monday, the Detroit Lions have hired John Morton as their next offensive coordinator, as first reported by NFL Network. Morton becomes the successor to former Lions OC Ben Johnson, who was hired as the Chicago Bears’ head coach last week.

Morton, 55, was with the Lions back in 2022, serving as the team’s senior offensive assistant. Lions coach Dan Campbell credits Morton for helping them install their new offense under Johnson, and bringing in ideas for pass game coordinator Tanner Engstrand that still are with the team today.

“Johnny’s a superstar now and there’s a number of things that he did for us last year that are things that we’ve kept,” Campbell said in 2023. “And I really feel like that helped Tanner as well. And he took a lot of that, and he learned from that, and he’s grown from that and so, he’s in a good spot. He’s an asset for us.”

In the past two years, Morton has served as the Denver Broncos’ pass game coordinator under head coach Sean Payton. In 2023 with Russell Wilson as quarterback, the Broncos produced the sixth-best passer rating (96.7). In 2024, with rookie quarterback Bo Nix, they dropped to 13th, but with a strong 93.3 passer rating for the first-year passer.

With Morton’s hiring, the Lions have now replaced both of their coordinator losses this offseason. On the defensive side, former Lions linebacker coach Kelvin Sheppard was promoted to defensive coordinator to replace Aaron Glenn, who left to become the Jets head coach.

Track all of the Lions’ coaching changes for the 2025 season here.

The Detroit Lions have made a big move this offseason, hiring John Morton as their new offensive coordinator. Morton, who has a wealth of experience in the NFL, is expected to bring a fresh perspective and innovative ideas to the Lions’ offense.

With Morton at the helm, fans can expect to see a more dynamic and high-powered offense on the field. His track record of success with previous teams, including the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers, bodes well for the Lions’ future.

Head coach Dan Campbell expressed his excitement about bringing Morton on board, stating, “John is a proven offensive mind who will bring a new energy and creativity to our team. I have no doubt that he will help us take our offense to the next level and help us compete at the highest level in the league.”

Lions fans can look forward to seeing Morton’s impact on the team’s offensive performance in the upcoming season. With his expertise and leadership, the Lions are poised to make significant strides on the offensive side of the ball. Welcome aboard, John Morton! #OnePride.

  • Lions hire Broncos assistant John Morton as OC, sources say

The Detroit Lions have hired Denver Broncos pass game coordinator John Morton as their new offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

Morton, 55, traveled to Detroit on Monday to meet with the team and signed his contract Tuesday morning, the sources told Schefter.

Morton replaces Ben Johnson, who was hired as the Chicago Bears‘ head coach.

Morton was part of head coach Dan Campbell’s Lions staff in 2022 as a senior offensive assistant before joining Sean Payton’s staff with the Broncos in 2023.

Morton also was an assistant with the Saints (as wide receivers coach) on Payton’s staff when Campbell was the assistant head coach/tight ends coach in 2016.

Morton has previously been an offensive coordinator in the NFL with the New York Jets, in 2017. He also was an offensive coordinator with USC for two seasons (2009-10).

The Lions lost both their offensive and defensive coordinators this month as defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn was hired as the New York Jets’ head coach.

The Lions promoted linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppard to fill their defensive coordinator role, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Saturday, confirming an NFL Network report.

Morton becomes the second Broncos offensive assistant to leave for an offensive coordinator job since Denver’s season ended. Sources told ESPN’s Courtney Cronin on Sunday that Broncos tight ends coach Declan Doyle is being hired as Johnson’s offensive coordinator on his Bears staff.

The Detroit Lions have made a big coaching move by hiring Denver Broncos assistant John Morton as their new offensive coordinator, sources have confirmed.

Morton, who has spent the past two seasons with the Broncos as their wide receivers coach, brings a wealth of experience to the Lions’ coaching staff. Prior to his time in Denver, Morton served as the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets in 2017 and has also held coaching positions with the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, and Oakland Raiders.

The Lions are hoping that Morton’s offensive expertise will help improve their struggling offense, which ranked near the bottom of the league in several key categories last season. With a talented roster that includes quarterback Jared Goff and star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, Morton will have plenty of weapons at his disposal to work with.

Fans are excited to see what Morton can bring to the table and are hopeful that his hiring will lead to a more dynamic and successful offense for the Lions in the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more updates as the coaching staff continues to take shape ahead of training camp.

  • Lions hiring Broncos passing game assistant John Morton as new offensive coordinator

Johnson was hired as the Bears’ head coach on Jan. 21, leaving behind an offense that was top five in points and yards in each of Johnson’s three seasons as offensive coordinator. In 2024, Detroit boasted the No. 1 scoring offense and the No. 2 unit in total yards.

Though it’s a tough act to follow, Morton will find a cornucopia of talent such as offensive tackle Penei Sewell, running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams and quarterback Jared Goff.

Morton heads back to Motown with plenty of experience.

He began his days in the NFL with the then-Oakland Raiders in 2002 as an offensive assistant. He later took on the same role with the New Orleans Saints under Sean Payton, spent four seasons as USC’s offensive coordinator, was with the San Francisco 49ers and Saints as a wide receivers coach and then became the New York Jets’ offensive coordinator in 2017. He returned to the Raiders as a senior offensive assistant after that. Following his stint with Campbell in ’22, Morton has been with Payton and the Broncos the past two seasons.

After a stunning Divisional Round loss to the Washington Commanders, Campbell and the Lions lost both their coordinators — Johnson to the Bears and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to the New York Jets.

They’ve moved just as quickly, though, promoting Kelvin Sheppard to DC and hiring Morton to take on the offensive reins.

The Detroit Lions have made a key addition to their coaching staff, hiring John Morton from the Denver Broncos as their new offensive coordinator. Morton, who has spent the last two seasons as a passing game assistant with the Broncos, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Lions’ offense.

Morton’s resume includes stints as an offensive coordinator with the New York Jets and an assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints. He is known for his innovative play-calling and ability to develop young quarterbacks, making him an ideal candidate to lead the Lions’ offense.

With a talented roster that includes quarterback Jared Goff and star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, Morton will have plenty of weapons at his disposal to help turn around the Lions’ offense. Fans can expect to see a more dynamic and explosive offense under Morton’s leadership, as he looks to bring a new energy and creativity to Detroit.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell expressed his excitement about the hiring, stating, “John is a proven offensive mind who has a track record of success in this league. We believe he is the perfect fit to lead our offense and help us take the next step as a team. We are thrilled to have him on board and can’t wait to see what he brings to the table.”

With Morton now in place as the Lions’ offensive coordinator, Detroit fans can look forward to an exciting and high-powered offense in the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more updates as Morton begins to implement his vision for the team.

  • Elton John backs Paul McCartney in criticising proposed overhaul to UK copyright system | Elton John

Elton John has backed Paul McCartney in criticising a proposed overhaul of the UK copyright system, and has called for new rules to prevent tech companies from riding “roughshod over the traditional copyright laws that protect artists’ livelihoods”.

John has backed proposed amendments to the data (use and access) bill that would extend existing copyright protections, when it goes before a vote in the House of Lords on Tuesday.

The government is also consulting on an overhaul of copyright laws that would result in artists having to opt out of letting AI companies train their models using their work, rather than an opt-in model.

McCartney told the BBC that the proposed changes could disincentivise writers and artists and result in a “loss of creativity”. The former Beatle said: “You get young guys, girls, coming up, and they write a beautiful song, and they don’t own it, and they don’t have anything to do with it. And anyone who wants can just rip it off.”

“The truth is, the money’s going somewhere … Somebody’s getting paid, so why shouldn’t it be the guy who sat down and wrote Yesterday?”

John told the Sunday Times that he felt “wheels are in motion to allow AI companies to ride roughshod over the traditional copyright laws that protect artists’ livelihoods. This will allow global big tech companies to gain free and easy access to artists’ work in order to train their artificial intelligence and create competing music. This will dilute and threaten young artists’ earnings even further. The musician community rejects it wholeheartedly.”

He said that “challenging financial situations” and increased touring costs made it “harder than ever for new and emerging musicians to make the finances of the industry stack up to sustain a fledgling career”, and added that the UK’s place on the world stage as “a leader in arts and popular culture is under serious jeopardy” without robust copyright protection.

“It is the absolute bedrock of artistic prosperity, and the country’s future success in the creative industries depends on it.”

The government consultation runs until 25 February and will explore how to improve trust between the creative and AI sectors, and how creators can license and get paid for use of their material.

A government spokesperson said: “Our aim is to deliver legal certainty through a copyright regime that provides creators with real control, transparency, and helps them license their content.

“We are keen to hear the views of the music industry on these proposals, and no move will be made until we are absolutely confident that we are delivering clarity, control and transparency for artists and the sector, alongside appropriate access to data for AI innovators.”

McCartney said: “We’re the people, you’re the government. You’re supposed to protect us. That’s your job. So you know, if you’re putting through a bill, make sure you protect the creative thinkers, the creative artists, or you’re not going to have them.”

In 2023, McCartney and Ringo Starr created the song Now And Then using AI technology to separate John Lennon’s vocals from a home demo recorded in 1977.

In December 2024, McCartney warned that AI could “just take over”, and signed a petition, alongside actors Julianne Moore, Stephen Fry and Hugh Bonneville, stating that “unlicensed use of creative works for training generative AI is a major, unjust threat to the livelihoods of the people behind those works, and must not be permitted”.

In a recent development, legendary musician Elton John has come out in support of fellow music icon Paul McCartney in criticizing the proposed overhaul to the UK copyright system. The proposed changes have been met with widespread backlash from artists and musicians who fear that they will negatively impact their ability to earn a living from their work.

Elton John, known for hits such as “Rocket Man” and “Tiny Dancer,” is no stranger to the importance of protecting artists’ rights. In a statement, he expressed his concerns about the potential impact of the proposed changes on the music industry, stating that it is crucial for artists to be able to control and benefit from their own work.

McCartney, a former member of The Beatles and one of the most successful musicians of all time, has been a vocal critic of the proposed overhaul, arguing that it could lead to a “vast transfer of value” from artists to tech companies. Both he and Elton John are calling for a fairer system that ensures artists are properly compensated for their creations.

As two of the most influential figures in the music industry, Elton John and Paul McCartney’s backing adds significant weight to the campaign against the proposed changes. Their voices, along with those of other artists and musicians, are crucial in ensuring that the UK copyright system continues to protect and support creators in the digital age.
