  • John Cena Has Been Filming ‘Matchbox’ Movie Ahead Of WWE Royal Rumble

John Cena has been absent from WWE television in recent weeks, and a new report provides an explanation.

Cena appeared at the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere on January 6th. There, he kicked off his farewell tour and declared for the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Cena has not appeared on WWE programming since.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that John Cena has been in Budapest filming the “Matchbox” movie that’s based on the toy car line. The report does not elaborate, but it seems like Cena will appear as scheduled at WWE Royal Rumble. His schedule after the show is currently unclear.

    Triple H On John Cena

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H recently discussed John Cena’s farewell run on SI Media with Jimmy Traina.

“I’ll say this: John is of a different mindset for sure. He’s the most disciplined guy I’ve ever met. So, when he says, ‘This is it, I’m done,’ I believe him. I think he’ll always be a part of WWE—it’s in his DNA. He’ll always do stuff with us and remain connected. But as an in-ring performer, I think when he’s done, he’s done.”

“What the year will look like, we’re still figuring it out. Obviously, John’s very busy, but he has made this his prime commitment for the year. He’s all in. He’s going to make some live events, he’s going to make TVs—not everything, of course, because that’s about supply and demand. He’ll do select premium live events, he’s going to wrestle a lot, and he’s going to perform a lot.”

“It’s essentially a one-calendar-year thing, and then he’s going to call it a day. So, when you see him at the Royal Rumble, that’s his last Royal Rumble. You see him at Elimination Chamber? That’s his last Chamber. WrestleMania? His last one. For all the stuff he’s part of, it’ll be the last time.”

The 16-time world champion has been juggling his wrestling and acting career, and fans are eagerly anticipating his return to the squared circle at the Royal Rumble event.

Cena has been spotted on set of ‘Matchbox’, a film where he plays a retired firefighter who gets caught up in a dangerous situation. The movie is set to be action-packed and full of suspense, much like Cena’s wrestling matches.

  • John Tortorella praises Devils, knows where Flyers must be better – NBC Sports Philadelphia

VOORHEES, N.J. — As the Flyers meet the Devils again, they have a decent blueprint on the table.

They just stymied New Jersey nine days ago in a 3-1 win at the Prudential Center. Samuel Ersson made 12 saves as the Flyers gave up only 13 shots, the fewest in John Tortorella’s time here as the head coach.

Should his team rewatch the tape before Monday’s rematch at the Wells Fargo Center (7 p.m. ET/NBCSP)?

“I don’t need to look back at the film,” Tortorella said. “We have to defend.”

The Devils endured a lean decade before drafting and developing a team that is now starting to feel like a contender again. Danny Briere highlighted New Jersey’s patience and plan in May 2023 when he was named the Flyers’ full-time general manager.

Tortorella pointed it out, too, after a blowout loss to the Devils in February 2023.

“This is a team that went through some growing pains as far as being a bad team, put their assets together and now they’re growing,” he said Monday before morning skate. “They’re a legitimate top team in this league and they’re balanced through their lineup.”

The Flyers have lost momentum from their season-best six-game point streak with consecutive losses by a combined score of 9-2. They’ve allowed some odd-man rushes because of misreads and breakdowns.

“I think the biggest point of emphasis for me going into tonight’s game is just our third man,” Tortorella said. “I think that has been inconsistent and we just can’t play that way. Our third man not only helps us defensively, it helps us so we can play on our toes, so we can get our transition game going. That’s the part of the game that I think we need to be more consistent at, especially against a team like this.”

Up front, New Jersey is led by 2019 first overall pick Jack Hughes, 2024 All-Star Jesper Bratt and 2017 first overall pick Nico Hischier. The Flyers won’t see Hischier tonight because of the center’s undisclosed injury. Nine days ago, the Flyers held that trio scoreless.

“I think we took away the middle, their middle speed,” Scott Laughton said. “They’ve got some top-end speed with Hughes and Bratt and guys like that, who like to kind of wind it up. I thought we did a good job in the neutral zone, we blocked a ton of shots in our zone. They have some defensemen that can really rip the puck. Ers played a great game.

“We’re going to need that again. We have a lot of division games coming up at a key time here before the break (4 Nations Face-Off) and kind of need to get rolling here.”

The Flyers enter this week at 22-22-6 and are trying to stay within striking distance of a playoff spot. They want to play meaningful games down the stretch.

“We have to be dead-on,” Tortorella said. “We have to push as hard as we can to stay competitive. We don’t have game-breakers. We have to play under a system and we have to push.”

In a recent interview, John Tortorella had high praise for the New Jersey Devils while also acknowledging areas where the Philadelphia Flyers need to improve.

Tortorella, the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets, commended the Devils for their strong play and noted that they are a team to watch out for in the upcoming season. He highlighted their speed, skill, and overall competitiveness on the ice.

However, Tortorella also pointed out that the Flyers have room for improvement. He emphasized the importance of consistency, especially in their defensive play and goaltending. He believes that the Flyers need to tighten up in these areas in order to compete at a higher level.

Overall, Tortorella’s insights provide valuable perspective on both the Devils and the Flyers as they continue to navigate the challenges of the NHL season. It will be interesting to see how both teams respond to his comments and work towards their respective goals.

  • Declassification of Records Concerning the Assassinations of President John F. Kennedy – The White House

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1.  Policy and Purpose.  More than 50 years after the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Federal Government has not released to the public all of its records related to those events.  Their families and the American people deserve transparency and truth.  It is in the national interest to finally release all records related to these assassinations without delay.

The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 required all records related to the assassination of President Kennedy to be publicly disclosed in full by October 26, 2017, unless the President certifies that:  (i) continued postponement is made necessary by an identifiable harm to the military defense, intelligence operations, law enforcement, or conduct of foreign relations; and (ii) the identifiable harm is of such gravity that it outweighs the public interest in disclosure.  President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, section 5(g)(2)(D), Public Law 102-526, 106 Stat. 3443, 3448–49, codified at 44 U.S.C. 2107 note.

I previously accepted proposed redactions from executive departments and agencies (agencies) in 2017 and 2018, but ordered the continued re-evaluation of those remaining redactions.  See Temporary Certification for Certain Records Related to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 82 Fed. Reg. 50,307–08 (Oct. 31, 2017); Certification for Certain Records Related to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 83 Fed. Reg. 19, 157–58 (Apr. 26, 2018).  In the Presidential Memorandum of April 26, 2018, I also ordered agencies to re-review each of those redactions over the next 3 years and disclose information that no longer warrants continued withholding under the standard set forth in section 5(g)(2)(D) of the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992.

President Biden issued subsequent certifications with respect to these records in 2021, 2022, and 2023, which gave agencies additional time to review the records and withhold information from public disclosure.  See Temporary Certification Regarding Disclosure of Information in Certain Records Related to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 86 Fed. Reg. 59,599 (Oct. 22, 2021); Certifications Regarding Disclosure of Information in Certain Records Related to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 87 Fed. Reg. 77,967 (Dec. 15, 2022); Certification Regarding Disclosure of Information in Certain Records Related to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, 88 Fed. Reg. 43,247 (June 30, 2023).

I have now determined that the continued redaction and withholding of information from records pertaining to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is not consistent with the public interest and the release of these records is long overdue.  And although no Act of Congress directs the release of information pertaining to the assassinations of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I have determined that the release of all records in the Federal Government’s possession pertaining to each of those assassinations is also in the public interest.

Sec. 2.  Declassification and Disclosure.  (a)  Within 15 days of the date of this order, the Director of National Intelligence and the Attorney General shall, in coordination with the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and the Counsel to the President, present a plan to the President for the full and complete release of records relating to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

         (b)  Within 45 days of the date of this order, the Director of National Intelligence and the Attorney General shall, in coordination with the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and the Counsel to the President, review records related to the assassinations of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and present a plan to the President for the full and complete release of these records.

Sec. 3.  General Provisions.  (a)  Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

    (i)   the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

(ii)  the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

         (b)  This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

         (c)  This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

    THE WHITE HOUSE,

        January 23, 2025.

The White House is set to declassify records concerning the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, marking a significant step in unveiling the truth behind one of the most infamous events in American history.

President Joe Biden has ordered the release of long-classified documents related to the assassination of President Kennedy, which took place on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. The decision comes as part of the ongoing efforts to promote transparency and accountability within the government.

The declassification of these records is expected to shed new light on the events leading up to and following President Kennedy’s assassination, including potential involvement by foreign governments, intelligence agencies, and other parties. It is hoped that the release of these documents will provide closure to the families of those affected by the tragedy and offer a more complete understanding of this dark chapter in American history.

As the White House prepares to release these records, the nation waits in anticipation to finally uncover the truth behind the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Stay tuned for updates on this historic declassification effort.

  • John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois take over anchor desk on ‘CBS Evening News’

John Dickerson and Maurice Dubois will be the latest to anchor the “CBS Evening News” after Norah O’Donnell’s exit.

The new ‘CBS Evening News’ co-anchors spoke to WTOP about their goals for the newscast and their new partnership

Cronkite, Rather, Schieffer and O’Donnell are some of the names most closely identified to the anchor chair at “CBS Evening News.”

Starting Monday, John Dickerson the son of CBS News’ first female correspondent, and Maurice Dubois, the son of Caribbean immigrants, will be the latest to anchor the Tiffany Network’s flagship newscast that dates back to the beginning of television.

The co-anchors spoke to WTOP about their goals for the newscast and their new partnership.

“John and I, we had dinner, two to three minutes into the conversation, I knew I liked this guy,” Maurice DuBois said. “That was like two or three months ago.”

Dickerson joked, saying perhaps they should have had to go on a four-day backpacking tour as a way to get to know each other, and said that first dinner had a lot of laughter.

“Even though we come from two different places, we tend to see things really in a similar way,” Dickerson said.

Both men are fathers and have two sons, which DuBois said helps with the laughter.

“If you are a dad and you don’t have a sense of humor, you’re in a world of trouble,” DuBois said. “You’ve got to be able to be flexible, nimble and adaptable when you have sons.”

When asked what viewers can expect from their version of the “CBS Evening News,” Dickerson pointed at a sign on the wall of his office that read, “WHY?”

“That’s the central question at the heart of what we do. Why are we telling you this story? Why does it matter to you? Why is it important? Why is what’s happening, happening?” Dickerson said.

They plan to deliver it through the use of their correspondence, their curiosity and their exchanges with each other.

With everything going on in the world, DuBois acknowledged it can feel like a scary place.

“Our aim is to put all that stuff into context, to let you know at home that, hey, this is what it really means, and it’s going to be all right at the end of the day,” DuBois said.

  • Lions working to hire Broncos’ John Morton as OC, sources say

The Detroit Lions are working to hire Denver Broncos pass game coordinator John Morton as their offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

Morton would replace Ben Johnson, who was hired as the Chicago Bears‘ head coach.

Morton, 55, is traveling to Detroit to meet with the team. He was part of head coach Dan Campbell’s Lions staff in 2022 as a senior offensive assistant before joining Sean Payton’s staff with the Broncos in 2023.

Morton also was an assistant with the Saints (as wide receivers coach) on Payton’s staff when Campbell was the assistant head coach/tight ends coach in 2016.

Morton has previously been an offensive coordinator in the NFL with the New York Jets, in 2017. He also was an offensive coordinator with USC for two seasons (2009-10).

The Lions lost both their offensive and defensive coordinators this month as defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn was hired as the New York Jets’ head coach.

The Lions promoted linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppard to fill their defensive coordinator role, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Saturday, confirming an NFL Network report.

Morton would become the second Broncos offensive assistant to leave for an offensive coordinator job since Denver’s season ended. Sources told ESPN’s Courtney Cronin on Sunday that Broncos tight ends coach Declan Doyle is being hired as Johnson’s offensive coordinator on his Bears staff.

The Detroit Lions are reportedly in talks to hire John Morton, currently with the Denver Broncos, as their new offensive coordinator. Sources close to the situation have revealed that Morton is the top candidate for the position and negotiations are underway.

Morton has a wealth of experience in the NFL, having previously served as an offensive coordinator for the New York Jets and as a wide receivers coach for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints. His expertise in developing young talent and his innovative offensive schemes make him an attractive choice for the Lions.

If the deal goes through, Morton would be tasked with revamping the Lions’ offense and helping to maximize the potential of quarterback Jared Goff. With his track record of success and ability to adapt to different personnel and systems, Morton could be the missing piece that helps the Lions take their offense to the next level.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as the Lions work towards finalizing their coaching staff for the upcoming season.

  • Raiders free agency 2025: Buccaneers fits for John Spytek

Now that John Spytek is set as the new general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders, he is next focused on NFL free agency.

Like many GM’s who go to a new team, Spytek may targets from players from his former team, which, of course, was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Spytek was with the Buccaneers since 2016 and was the assistant general manager the past two years.

Let’s look at some players who were with Spytek in Tampa Bay who could fit the Raiders in free agency:

    Wide receiver Chris Godwin:

This is someone to watch. Even though he is coming off a season-ending ankle injury, Godwin is one of the top players available at his position. He could be a good fit with Jakobi Meyers as a starting wide receiver. Both players have excellent drop rates and could be a good pair. Also, Raiders’ part owner Tom Brady played with Godwin and thinks highly of him.

    Cornerback Carlton Davis:

The Buccaneers traded Davis to the Detroit L:ions last year. The Raiders could use a veteran presence like Davis in their secondary.

    Linebacker Lavonte David:

David is probably a Buccaneer life, but surely Spytek and Brady would love to see him in the Silver and Black. He is slowing down as he’s entering his 14th NFL season, but he would be of value to the Raiders.

    Guard Ben Bredeson:

He started every game for the Buccaneers in his only season there. The Raiders could look for help at the position and Bredeson could be a nice, affordable addition.

Cincinnati Bengals v Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    Joe Tyron-Shoyinka
Photo by Douglas P. DeFelice/Getty Images

    Linebacker Joe Tyron-Shoyinka:

He’s a solid pass-rusher who has 15 sacks in four seasons. he could be a decent rotational addition.

    Quarterback Kyle Trask:

He was a second-round pick in 2021. He’s played very little, but Spytek could look to bring him in as a backup.

    Linebacker K.J. Britt:

He started 11 games and had 72 tackles in 2024.

    Linebacker Anthony Nelson:

He’s a solid rotational player who has a nose for the ball.

In the 2025 NFL free agency period, the Las Vegas Raiders’ Assistant General Manager, John Spytek, is rumored to be a potential target for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Spytek, known for his keen eye for talent and strong player evaluation skills, could be a valuable addition to the Buccaneers’ front office.

The Buccaneers, coming off a successful season and looking to maintain their competitive edge, could benefit from Spytek’s expertise in building a championship-caliber roster. With his experience in player personnel and scouting, Spytek could play a crucial role in helping the Buccaneers make strategic roster moves to bolster their chances of contending for another Super Bowl title.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, the potential pairing of Spytek with the Buccaneers is certainly an intriguing possibility to keep an eye on as free agency unfolds. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story. #Raiders #Buccaneers #FreeAgency #JohnSpytek

  • Detroit Lions ‘working to hire’ John Morton as next offensive coordinator

The Detroit Lions may have their successor to Ben Johnson. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lions are “working to hiring” John Morton to be their next offensive coordinator.

For the past two years, Morton has been working for Dan Campbell’s mentor, Sean Payton, as the pass game coordinator for the Denver Broncos. This year, Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix impressed under Morton, starting all 17 games and finishing with 3,775 yards, 29 passing TDs, 12 INTs, and a 93.3 passer rating.

Prior to that, Morton worked directly with Campbell, serving as the Lions’ senior offensive assistant in 2022. Campbell credited Morton with helping Lions’ current pass game coordinator Tanner Engstrand grow as an offensive coach.

“Johnny’s a superstar now and there’s a number of things that he did for us last year that are things that we’ve kept,” Campbell said in 2023. “And I really feel like that helped Tanner as well. And he took a lot of that, and he learned from that, and he’s grown from that.”

Morton also worked with Campbell for a year with the New Orleans Saints. In 2016, he served as the team’s wide receivers coach while Campbell was in charge of tight ends.

If he joins Detroit, Morton will be tasked with keeping Detroit’s high-powered offense among the best in the NFL. In 2024, the Lions offense ranked first in the NFL after scoring the most points in franchise history.

For most of Morton’s coaching career—which dates all the way back to 1998 as a Raiders offensive assistant—he has worked closely with the wide receiver position. He was a receivers coach at the University of San Diego (2005), USC (2007-10), San Francisco 49ers (2011-14), and with the Saints, (2015-16).

If hired, this will be Morton’s third stint as an offensive coordinator. He served as the Trojans’ OC/WR coach for one year under Pete Carroll (2009) and was the Jets’ offensive coordinator for just a single season with the New York Jets in 2017 under Todd Bowles. Coincidentally, that year the Jets’ defensive coordinator was Lions’ new defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers.

The Detroit Lions are reportedly “working to hire” John Morton as their next offensive coordinator, according to sources close to the team. Morton, who most recently served as the wide receivers coach for the New York Jets, is known for his innovative offensive schemes and ability to develop young talent.

The Lions have been searching for a new offensive coordinator since parting ways with Darrell Bevell earlier this month. With Morton’s track record of success in the NFL, he could be the perfect fit to help quarterback Jared Goff and the Lions’ offense take the next step in their development.

Stay tuned for more updates as the Lions continue their pursuit of John Morton as their next offensive coordinator. #DetroitLions #JohnMorton #OffensiveCoordinator

  • Detroit Lions Working to Hire John Morton as Offensive Coordinator

The Detroit Lions are working to find their replacement for Ben Johnson.

Lions coach Dan Campbell is working to hire John Morton as the team’s next offensive coordinator, according to sources. Morton is a familiar name for the organization, having spent a year on Dan Campbell’s staff in 2022.

Morton has a vast array of experience and spent the last two seasons working under Campbell’s mentor, Sean Payton, as the Denver Broncos’ Pass Game Coordinator. Prior to that, he worked in Detroit under Campbell as a Senior Offensive Assistant in Johnson’s first year as offensive coordinator.

Lions OnSI noted that Morton had become a name to watch in Detroit’s coordinator search, indicating that he would be earning an interview with Campbell.

On Monday, ESPN analyst Adam Schefter said he expected Morton to be the Lions’ next offensive coordinator.

“Offensive coordinator of Detroit, I would expect it to be Johnny Morton, the Broncos’ passing game coordinator,” Schefter said during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. “We’ll see how that works out, you can write that down.”

It is expected that Morton will travel to Detroit to meet with the team.

Morton does have previous coordinator experience, having spent a year with as the New York Jets’ offensive coordinator in 2017. He worked with Jon Gruden in with the Raiders for three seasons, from 2019-21, after being let go by the Jets.

The veteran coach also has experience at the college level, having served as the offensive coordinator for two seasons at USC from 2009-10 under head coaches Pete Carroll and Lane Kiffin.

The Lions will have big shoes to fill with Johnson’s departure, as they led the league in scoring last season and finished second in the NFL in total yards. He held the role for three seasons, with Detroit’s offense consistently finishing among the NFL’s best in a number of categories.

With so many playmakers set to return, including quarterback Jared Goff, running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery and wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, expectations will once again be high.

The Detroit Lions are reportedly in talks to hire John Morton as their new offensive coordinator. Morton, who has previous experience in the NFL as both a wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator, is seen as a strong candidate to help revamp the struggling Lions offense.

Morton’s most recent stint in the NFL was with the New York Jets, where he served as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2017. Prior to that, he spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints as a wide receivers coach.

The Lions are hoping that Morton can bring a fresh perspective and innovative play-calling to an offense that has struggled to find consistency in recent years. With a talented young quarterback in Jared Goff and weapons like D’Andre Swift and T.J. Hockenson at his disposal, Morton could have the pieces in place to turn the Lions offense into a potent unit.

While the hiring is not yet official, it seems like the Lions are moving quickly to bring Morton on board. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
