    Celtic v St Johnstone: Teams named for Premiership clash at Parkhead


    Brendan Rodgers and Simo Valakari have named their starting lineups for the Premiership game at Celtic Park.

    It’s top against bottom in the east-end of Glasgow in the last round of top flight fixtures of 2024.

    Celtic host St Johnstone with 33 points separating the sides ahead of the game on Sunday.

    The champions increased their lead over second placed Rangers to 12 points on Boxing Day with a 4-0 win over Motherwell.

    If they avoid defeat against the Perth side they will end the calendar year undefeated at home in all competitions.

    Meanwhile St Johnstone arrive at Parkhead aiming to end a run of five games without a win and three defeats in a row.

    They are two points behind eleven placed Hearts and will need a win added to a defeat for Neil Critchley’s men to get off the bottom of the table going into 2025.

    Celtic start with Schmeichel in goals and a back four of Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales and Valle.

    Arne Engels anchors a three-man midfield beside Hatate and Bernardo with Yang and Kuhn either side of Kyogo up top.

    Valakari has started with Rae between the sticks behind Mikulic, Raymond, Cameron, Sanders, Essel, Smith, Sprangler, Franczak, Kirk and Clark.
