Drake Maye eager to be coached by Josh McDaniels like Tom Brady was
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye knows the history of new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, and that’s why he’s so excited to be coached by him.
McDaniels has spent a total of 18 years on the Patriots’ coaching staff over two stints, and McDaniels knows that Tom Brady attributes much of his success to the coaching he had from McDaniels.
“Coach McDaniels, obviously what he’s done [with the Patriots] and the success he’s had,” Maye said on SiriusXM NFL Radio, via MassLive.com. “I’m fortunate to be able to have a guy come in who has done it at a high level and learn from him coaching one of the best ever — the best ever, in my opinion, Tom.”
Maye said he’s eager to sit down with McDaniels and study what he and Brady did together.
“So, I have a great chance to go back — all those years of film he has in the little database, it’s all their play-calls, all Coach McDaniels’ stuff and what he did with Tom,” Maye said. “So it’s fortunate for me to go back and study it up and get ready for this next season.”
It’s not realistic to think anyone can match Brady’s achievements, but McDaniels may be able to help Maye develop into the second-best quarterback in Patriots history.
Drake Maye, the highly touted quarterback prospect out of North Carolina, is eager to be coached by Josh McDaniels, the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Maye has expressed his excitement at the opportunity to work with McDaniels, who is known for his success in developing quarterbacks, most notably Tom Brady during his time with the New England Patriots. In a recent interview, Maye stated, “I have a lot of respect for Coach McDaniels and what he has accomplished in his career. I can’t wait to learn from him and soak up all the knowledge he has to offer. If he can help me improve my game like he did with Tom Brady, I know I’ll be in good hands.”
Maye, who is projected to be a top pick in the upcoming NFL draft, has all the physical tools to succeed at the next level. With McDaniels’ guidance and expertise, there’s no telling how far Maye can go in his professional career. Raiders fans should be excited about the potential of this dynamic duo working together to bring success to the team.
Stay tuned for more updates on Drake Maye and his journey with the Las Vegas Raiders under the tutelage of Josh McDaniels. It’s sure to be an exciting ride. #RaiderNation #DrakeMaye #JoshMcDaniels

Patriots QB Drake Maye excited to work with Mike Vrabel, Josh McDaniels in 2025
New England’s 2024 season resulted in a 4-13 record, leading to Jerod Mayo’s exit and Vrabel’s hiring.
Even though Vrabel has not coached since he parted ways with the Tennessee Titans in 2024, he was one of the most experienced coaches in this year’s cycle. In his six seasons in Tennessee, the Titans had a 54-45 record with three playoff trips. Vrabel also won the 2021 AP NFL Coach of the Year award.
In Vrabel’s introductory news conference as the Patriots head coach, he said he wanted to get “great people around” Maye. One piece of the puzzle in attempting to unlock Maye’s potential is their new offensive coordinator. The Patriots hired Josh McDaniels as the team’s OC, a familiar figure who held the title on two previous occasions in New England.
Maye praised McDaniels’ coaching history, including his work with Tom Brady.
“Coach McDaniels, obviously, what he’s done there and the success he’s had. Fortunate to be able to have a guy come in who’s done it at a high level and learn from him coaching one of the best ever and the best ever, in my opinion, Tom (Brady),” Maye said of working with McDaniels. “Got a great chance to go back and all those years of film you have in a little database, it’s all their play calls and all coach McDaniels’ stuff and what he did with Tom. It’s fortunate for me to go back and study it up and get ready for this next season.”
Now, Vrabel and McDaniels will be tasked to turn things around in New England while cultivating a promising signal-caller in Maye.
In an exciting turn of events, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with head coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels in the 2025 season.Maye, a highly touted prospect coming out of college, has been making waves in the NFL with his impressive skills and leadership on the field. Now, he will have the chance to learn from two experienced and successful coaches in Vrabel and McDaniels.
Vrabel, a former NFL player turned coach, has led the Patriots to multiple playoff appearances and is known for his tough, no-nonsense approach to coaching. McDaniels, on the other hand, is a brilliant offensive mind who has helped develop some of the league’s top quarterbacks.
With these two coaching powerhouses in his corner, Maye is sure to continue to grow and thrive in the NFL. Patriots fans are eagerly anticipating what the future holds for their talented young quarterback under the guidance of Vrabel and McDaniels. Stay tuned for an exciting 2025 season! #Patriots #DrakeMaye #MikeVrabel #JoshMcDaniels #NFL

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills made a statement by defeating Lamar Jackson‘s Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round of the 2025 NFL playoffs. But once again, they failed to get past Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Only three points separated Allen and company from Super Bowl LIX, though some feel that the result would’ve been different had the referees granted a critical first down to the Bills early in the fourth quarter.
One of Jackson’s best teammates, for instance, went as far as suggesting that Buffalo was ‘robbed’ on that play. We’re talking about Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who shared his thoughts on social media.
“They lowkey did rob the Bills from the 4th down conversion. Josh definitely crossed the line,” Humphrey wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), in reference to a quarterback sneak by Allen that turned the ball over to the Chiefs on downs.

The call that affected Allen, Bills against the Chiefs
The play in question took place with 13:01 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Bills, leading 22-21 in the game, faced a fourth-and-one situation at Kansas City’s 41-yard line. Sean McDermott decided to keep the offensive unit on the field to try and get the first down with Allen’s legs.

As the Chiefs defense stopped Allen near the line of scrimmage, the refs considered that the Bills quarterback fell short of yards. After watching a replay, even though the images still looked unclear, the NFL officiating crew stood by its original decision.
It’s safe to say it may have been a game-changing moment, as Mahomes went on to score a rushing touchdown in the following drive, putting the Chiefs in front by 29-22 after a successful two-point conversion pass.
Allen orchestrated a nine-play, 70-yard touchdown drive in the Bills’ next possession to tie the score, but Kansas City responded with the field goal that ended up making the difference at Arrowhead.
McDermott believes Allen got the first down in Kansas City
Speaking to reporters after his team’s loss, McDermott let everyone know that, even though he wasn’t sure about which angles were used in the replay, he thought that Allen got the first down.

“I thought he had it. Just short of the line was actually the first down, what it looked like to me when it was sitting next to me with the marker, just inside that white stripe was the first down and it looked like he got to it. That’s all I can say,” McDermott stated.
For many, this call will go down as a big “what if” in the Bills’ season. Either way, it would be unfair to take credit away from the Chiefs. At the end of the day, Mahomes is still unbeaten against Allen in four playoff games. And now he’s chasing a third consecutive Super Bowl win.
In a recent interview, star Baltimore Ravens teammate of Lamar Jackson, Marlon Humphrey, expressed his belief that the Buffalo Bills were “robbed” in their AFC Championship game against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Humphrey, who is known for his outspoken nature, did not hold back in his assessment of the controversial calls made during the game. Many fans and analysts have pointed to a crucial pass interference call that was not called on a crucial fourth down play late in the game as a key moment that could have changed the outcome. Humphrey echoed these sentiments, stating that he believes the Bills were unfairly disadvantaged by the officiating.
Despite the controversy surrounding the game, the Chiefs emerged victorious and advanced to the Super Bowl, where they will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bills, on the other hand, will have to regroup and look towards next season.
As the NFL offseason approaches, it will be interesting to see how the league addresses issues of officiating and fairness in games. In the meantime, fans can expect more drama and excitement as the Super Bowl approaches.

Josh Hart Injury Status For Lakers vs Knicks
Since being offloaded from the Los Angeles Lakers as part of the club’s blockbuster trade for 10-time All-Star center/power forward Anthony Davis in 2019, now-New York Knicks swingman Josh Hart has evolved into one of the most beloved role players in the NBA.
He’s now a one-man wrecking crew, capable of defending everyone from Darius Garland to LeBron James. Standing at just 6-foot-4, the 29-year-old Villanova product is an impressive rebounder for his size.
Though he began his New York tenure as a reserve, Hart has become the club’s permanent starting shooting guard this season, following a flurry of summer trades that brought in All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns and All-Defensive Team small forward Mikal Bridges.
More Lakers: Los Angeles Has Reportedly Contacted East Squad Multiple Times About Potential Trade
Across 47 healthy bouts this season, Hart is averaging 13.9 points on .556/.353/.813 shooting splits, 9.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.6 steals a night.
Hart is exactly the kind of impressive two-way wing that the Lakers essentially brought in with their lone trade of the year so far, when they ditched D’Angelo Russell’s expiring deal, power forward Maxwell Lewis, and three second round picks to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for 3-and-D small forward Dorian Finney-Smith and little-used reserve guard Shake Milton. Finney-Smith is not the rebounder or passer Hart is, however.
Per the league’s latest injury report, Hart is considered questionable to suit up through a sore right knee. Backup center Mitchell Robinson is on the shelf as he continues to recuperate from a left ankle surgery, while wing Pacome Dadiet is out with a great toe sprain in his right foot. Two-way player Kevin McCullar Jr. is putting in reps with the Westchester Knicks, New York’s G League affiliate.

Ahead of the game, Finney-Smith and backup point guard Gabe Vincent have seen their statuses improved to probable, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN. Finney-Smith is dealing with a right shoulder contusion, while Vincent has a left knee contusion. Backup small forward Cam Reddish, who has fallen out of J.J. Redick’s rotation, will miss the bout due to undisclosed personal reasons.
Davis remains out for L.A. with his abdominal muscle strain, as does his backup Christian Wood, who has yet to play in a game this season for the 27-19 Lakers while recovering from a left knee surgery. Second-year point guard Jalen Hood-Schifino is out with a strained left hamstring. Starting forwards Rui Hachimura (left calf soreness) and LeBron James (left knee injury management) are considered probable to suit up.

As of now, Josh Hart’s injury status for the upcoming game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks is uncertain. Hart suffered a knee injury in the Lakers’ last game and is currently listed as day-to-day. Lakers fans will have to wait for further updates from the team’s medical staff to determine if Hart will be able to suit up against the Knicks. Hornets’ Josh Green explains why LaMelo Ball is similar to Luka Doncic
If there’s anyone who knows what it’s like to play alongside a superstar playmaker, it’s Josh Green. After spending four seasons running with Luka Doncic in Dallas, Green is now in Charlotte, and he can’t help but see some similarities between his former teammate and Hornets guard LaMelo Ball.
“I think both of them have a high level of patience,” Green told Grant Afseth of RG. “They do a great job of slowing the game down and seeing things develop.”
And, as hard as it is to believe, Green’s got a point. Ball has been putting up tremendous numbers this season — 28.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game while shooting 41.9% from the field.
While Doncic has been dominating the NBA as an MVP contender for years now, Ball is proving he’s got that same elite playmaking ability. According to Green, the key thing that sets them apart is how they control the pace of the game.
“He reads the game so well at a young age,” Green said. “He’s a very fluent, confident guard, and it’s fun to play with him. He plays with supreme confidence, trusts his teammates, and makes the game easier for everyone around him.”
LaMelo Ball’s big season disregarded by All-Star selections
Hornets’ rookie Josh Green recently shared his thoughts on why he believes his teammate LaMelo Ball shares similarities with Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic. In an interview with ESPN, Green praised Ball’s basketball IQ, playmaking ability, and court vision, which he believes are reminiscent of Doncic’s style of play. “Both Luka and Melo have a unique feel for the game and can make incredible passes that most players wouldn’t even think of,” Green said.
Green also highlighted Ball’s versatility and ability to impact the game in multiple ways, much like Doncic. “They’re both able to score, rebound, and facilitate for their teammates. It’s rare to find players with that kind of all-around skill set,” Green explained.
While Ball and Doncic may have different playing styles and strengths, Green believes that they both possess a certain flair and creativity on the court that sets them apart from their peers. “They have that ‘wow’ factor that makes them so exciting to watch. It’s no surprise that they’re both considered future superstars in the league,” Green added.
With Ball’s impressive rookie season so far, it’s clear that he has the potential to follow in Doncic’s footsteps and become a dominant force in the NBA. As Green continues to learn from both Ball and Doncic, he’s excited to see how their similarities will continue to shine on the court.

Patriots interviewed ex-Chiefs offensive coordinator before hiring Josh McDaniels
Even though Josh McDaniels was the favorite to earn the job all along, the New England Patriots interviewed several offensive coordinator candidates. Also among them was former Kansas City Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy, as was revealed by a recent report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
“The belief was that Bieniemy was a top candidate for the New England job, had McDaniels not been the obvious choice,” Schultz wrote about the interview.
Bieniemy, 55, started his coaching career at the college level in 2000 and primarily worked with running backs early on. His first stint in the NFL came with the Minnesota Vikings from 2006 to 2010. He returned to the league in 2013 with the Chiefs, first coaching their running backs and from 2018 to 2022 leading their offense as coordinator.
After helping Kansas City win two Super Bowls, he left for the Washington Commanders in 2023. He spent 2024 at UCLA but was fired as the Bruins’ OC in December.
In addition to Bieniemy, the Patriots also spoke to the aforementioned Josh McDaniels as well as Thomas Brown, Marcus Brady and Grant Udinski about the position held by Alex Van Pelt in 2024. They eventually hired McDaniels to fill it — his third stint with the organization — but also ended up bringing Brown aboard.
The former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator and interim head coach will serve as the Patriots’ tight ends coach and pass game coordinator in 2025. Bieniemy following a similar path to a role on new head coach Mike Vrabel’s staff could happen, even though it seems less likely given the apparent interest he has from other teams and New England not having many openings left.
The New England Patriots reportedly interviewed former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy, before ultimately hiring Josh McDaniels as their new head coach. Bieniemy, who has been widely regarded as one of the top coaching prospects in the NFL, was considered a strong candidate for the job.During his time with the Chiefs, Bieniemy helped lead one of the league’s most explosive offenses, working closely with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. His innovative play-calling and ability to develop young talent made him a highly sought-after coaching candidate.
Although the Patriots ultimately decided to go with McDaniels, Bieniemy’s interview with the team showcases his reputation as a top coaching candidate in the league. It will be interesting to see where Bieniemy lands next and how he continues to make an impact in the NFL.

Dillon Gabriel Throws Record-Breaking Ball At Senior Bowl: Crushes Josh Allen Speed
With their eyes set on the professional level of the sport, many outgoing Oregon Ducks are showing up and showing out to get noticed by NFL scouts ahead of the Ducks’ Pro Day. Recently, Dillon Gabriel clocked in a statistic that’s going viral on social media and drawing some exciting comparisons.
While attending practice for the Reese’s Senior Bowl in at the University of South Alabama at Hancock Whitney Stadium, Gabriel recorded a 74.9 mph throw, a seriously impressive, and potentially record breaking, statistic.
For reference, the NFL Combine record for fastest throw is currently held by Buffalo Bills’ current quarterback Josh Allen and current New England Patriot’s quarterback Joe Milton III at 62mph.
Gabriel was a stand-out for the Senior Bowl practice today, with many analysts at the practice praising his accuracy. Though questions about Gabriel’s height in terms of being able to look over the offensive line for targets is a concern, his arm strength shined through during this practice, especially his consistency in connecting with stranger receivers.
Other quarterbacks joining Gabriel on the national team at the Senior Bowl include former Oregon quarterback and outgoing Louisville Cardinal Tyler Shough and Taylor Elgersma of the Laurier Golden Hawks (Canada).
Gabriel is also set to wear a special helmet for the Senior Bowl game on Saturday, February 1st that harkens back to each of the programs the Hawaii native played at: UCF Golden Knights, Oklahoma Sooners, and Oregon Ducks.
During an interview with the NFL Network after practice, Gabriel continued to show his laid back attitude and stressed his connection with the other athletes from across the nation competing alongside him.
“Yeah it was good,” Gabriel said. “You know, a lot of good and a lot of bad just like a practice would be but just happy for the guys. Being around them, just the way we’ve attacked the film room but also coming out here and doing it. We’re all excited and definitely some thinking but as we get these reps it will definitely help us flow out.”

Gabriel also spoke on his transition from the end of Oregon’s season to then training for the Senior Bowl and the preparation to potentially get picked by an NFL team. In his 2024 season with the Ducks, Gabriel broke the NCAA record for total touchdowns (189) and also became second in the NCAA’s all-time passing yards list (18,722). Gabriel led the Ducks to their first ever 13-0 season that included a first-time Big Ten Championship win.

Mandatory Credit: Vasha Hunt-Imagn Images / Vasha Hunt-Imagn Images The Ducks ended their season with a 21-41 loss against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl.
“You know, three days, four days out from the last game. You know, wanted to flush that one, get throwing again. Get out to beautiful Huntington Beach with 3D QB. So I was training with them up until this point,” Gabriel said. “And then you come out here and then it’s time to go to work so it’s been good. It’s been a lot of fun.”
Ending the 2024 season, Gabriel clocked in 3,857 passing yards, 30 passing touchdowns, six interceptions, 149 rushing yards, and seven rushing touchdowns.

Mandatory Credit: Vasha Hunt-Imagn Images / Vasha Hunt-Imagn Images Another thing Gabriel is known for is his mini van, which the quarterback used during his time at Oregon to transport his teammates. During his interview with the NFL Network, Gabriel divulged that he did not travel to Mobile, Alabama with his van, but he also noted the vehicle itself feels like an analogy for his skills as an athlete.
“It didn’t. That would have been a very long drive from Eugene. It’s sitting in the garage. It’s taking a little break. It’s put some miles on it so we’re letting it have a little break and it’ll be back in ‘go’ mode here soon,” Gabriel said. “It’s simple. It’s basic. It’s efficient. My ability to showcase [those aspects of me] through a vehicle is kind of funny. For the most part, I’m not too big for anyone. I’m not too small for anyone. There’s definitely a lot of people in this world with a lot more than I do. I just try to do it my way.”

In a jaw-dropping performance at the Senior Bowl, UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel showcased his incredible arm strength by throwing a record-breaking ball that rivaled the speed of NFL star Josh Allen.Gabriel, known for his accuracy and deep ball prowess, impressed scouts and analysts with his incredible arm talent during the Senior Bowl practices. However, it was during the game itself that he truly stole the show.
With a flick of his wrist, Gabriel launched a pass that traveled over 70 yards in the air, breaking the previous Senior Bowl record for longest throw. The velocity and precision of his throw left onlookers in awe, as he effortlessly displayed the same arm strength and power that has made Josh Allen one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL.
Scouts and analysts were quick to praise Gabriel’s performance, with many hailing him as a potential first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. His combination of arm strength, accuracy, and poise under pressure has now solidified him as one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft class.
As Gabriel continues to impress on the field, all eyes will be on him as he looks to take his game to the next level and make a seamless transition to the NFL. With his record-breaking performance at the Senior Bowl, there’s no doubt that Dillon Gabriel is a name to watch out for in the future of professional football.

Christina Haack Reveals Insults Ex Josh Hall Called Her Before Divorce
Originally appeared on E! Online
Some fixer-uppers are beyond repair, even for Christina Haack.
The interior designer shed new light into her marriage problems with ex Josh Hall during the season premiere of her hew HGTV reality competition series The Flip Off.
After breaking the news about her and Josh’s divorce to her first ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, Christina revealed the retired police officer had a not-so-pleasant side behind closed doors before they broke up for good last summer after two years of marriage.
“He doesn’t like me,” Christina—who shares children Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9, with Tarek, as well as son Hudson, 5, with second ex-husband Ant Anstead—told her ex during the Jan. 29 episode. “He calls me cocky. He thinks I’m arrogant, when we both know I’m not cocky or arrogant and I just do work.”
Tarek tried comforting his ex during the emotional heart-to-heart, telling her, “You’re not any other those things. He’s projecting. You’re a great mother, a great daughter. You are a great human.”
But Christina wasn’t the only one who witnessed Josh’s temper.
“The kids literally asked me to leave,” she recalled to Tarek. “They told me he’s not nice to me.”
More from E! Online
The 41-year-old also told Tarek that Josh “would not speak to me for two or three days” at times during their marriage because Josh was “insecure” around him.
Christina then broke down in tears while reflecting on going through three divorces in less than a decade.
“I feel like I’m in a tornado all the time and I just can’t get out of it,” she cried to Tarek. “Everything since like 2016 has been so hard and so horrible. It’s really taken a really bad toll on me. There’s so many good things but there’s so many bad things and it’s taken a really bad toll on me.”
“I feel like I try to hide it and act like I’m not affected,” she continued, “but then I just do more stupid things to try to make myself feel better and then I keep doing it and getting into things too fast that I know aren’t right.”
In a confessional, the Christina on the Coast star shared her insecurities over her past relationship failures.
“I never wanted to get divorced,” she admitted. “I’m the only person in my family to ever get a divorce. So I just feel like it’s safer to be back in a relationship, but ultimately that was not safe either.”
As for Tarek, he only had one question in the wake of Christina and Josh’s split: Was she still willing to compete against him and wife Heather Rae El Moussa in their Flip Off house renovation competition without a partner by her side?
“Yes, I’m still gonna do it,” she confirmed. “And I’m gonna do it better. I have more time now. I lost Josh but you know what? He doesn’t really know what he’s doing with flipping.”
See the drama play out when The Flip Off airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on HGTV. And read on for a full breakdown of Christina and Josh’s relationship and breakup.

Josh Giddey Had Been a Player of Interest for the San Antonio Spurs
Nobody on the Chicago Bulls is safe during trade season!
While most rumors have centered around the availability of Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic, we have heard that Arturas Karnisovas is open to any and all business. There is really no other way to go about things when you sit 20-28 and on the cusp of a third straight Play-In Tournament appearance. The Bulls must get out of the middle and pave a new path toward legitimate competitiveness. This deadline is an opportunity to start laying the asphalt.
Does this mean we should expect a trade to get done that involves someone not named LaVine, Vucevic, or Lonzo Ball? Not necessarily. But it does mean we shouldn’t necessarily be shocked when any Bulls player appears in the rumor mill, including one of their newest additions.
In a recent article by The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer, Josh Giddey was named as someone the San Antonio Spurs have had on their radar.
“Another name that’s always lingered as a potential franchise point guard of Spurs interest: Charlotte’s LaMelo Ball. The Hornets have never welcomed trade inquiries for their eccentric ball handler. And yet the Spurs, sources said, have tried to register their interest in Ball during previous transaction cycles.
Chicago’s Josh Giddey has likewise been a young guard that San Antonio has envisioned possibly pairing with Wembanyama down the road.”
You can read Jake Fischer’s full intel piece and subscribe to The Stein Line newsletter here.
Spurs Have Thought About Josh Giddey
Let’s be very clear, we should not consider this an active trade rumor … yet. Fischer is not saying that the San Antonio Spurs have recently contacted the Bulls about a Josh Giddey trade or even plan to in the near future. He merely mentions the guard alongside several others as someone the franchise has thought about as an eventual target. These kinds of hypothetical talks go on behind the scenes all the time.
Regardless, hearing about any level of interest in a Bulls player right now is intriguing for all the reasons we talked about above. Nobody on the team is safe. With that in mind, would it hurt Karnisovas to give the Spurs a call? I’m assuming those conversations would be rebuffed with all the ongoing De’Aaron Fox reports. But it can never hurt to check in, right?
This also feels like somewhat significant news when we consider Giddey’s future. While the Spurs might not have an interest in trading for the guard, he is positioned to hit restricted free agency this upcoming summer. The Bulls chose not to extend Giddey after acquiring him with only one year left on his deal in a direct swap for Alex Caruso. So perhaps Fischer’s “down the road” comment relates to a potential pursuit of him this summer?
For what it’s worth, I could definitely envision a world where the Bulls allow the market to set Giddey’s price. His first season in Chicago has left a lot to be desired thus far, particularly when we consider his poor defense and around-the-rim efficiency. Likewise, Karnisovas has already been burned by his five-year, $90 million contract for Patrick Williams. Shouldn’t the goal be to avoid that happening again at all costs, particularly as you embark on a rebuild? There isn’t a lot of risk in allowing a player to hit the market when you have the right to match any offer sheet!
With the De’Aaron Fox stuff currently swirling, I think this is a rumor we can place in the back of the filing cabinet for now. However, if a deal doesn’t get done between the Spurs and Kings, this may be something worth discussing more as the offseason approaches. San Antonio needs a future facilitator to pair with big man Victor Wembanyama, and we all know Giddey is overflowing with playmaking upside.
Josh Giddey, the highly touted Australian prospect, has reportedly been on the radar of the San Antonio Spurs leading up to the 2021 NBA Draft. The 18-year-old guard has been turning heads with his impressive playmaking ability and basketball IQ, making him an intriguing option for the Spurs.Giddey, who played for the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL, has drawn comparisons to NBA All-Star Ben Simmons for his size, passing skills, and versatility on the court. Standing at 6’8″, Giddey has the ability to play multiple positions and create mismatches for opposing defenses.
With the Spurs known for their player development and emphasis on team basketball, Giddey seems like a natural fit for the organization. His unselfish play and high basketball IQ align with the Spurs’ values, and he could potentially thrive under the guidance of head coach Gregg Popovich.
While it remains to be seen if the Spurs will ultimately select Giddey in the draft, it’s clear that he has caught their attention. With his combination of size, skill, and potential, Giddey could be a valuable addition to the Spurs’ young core as they look to build for the future. Stay tuned to see if Josh Giddey ends up in a Spurs jersey come draft night.
