  • Colin Jost on Wife Scarlett Johansson’s SNL Joke Swap Reaction

The “Weekend Update” joke swaps between co-anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che are always chaotic and jaw-dropping — and the latest installment truly did shock Jost’s wife, Scarlett Johansson

    How to Watch

Watch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC weeknights at 11:35/10:35c and next day on Peacock

Jost swung by The Tonight Show on Monday, January 20, where Jimmy Fallon brought up how they saw each other at the Saturday Night Live December 2024 Christmas episode.

“I think one of the best ‘Weekend Updates.’ I’ve ever seen,” Fallon told Jost, before following up with, “Are you in trouble with Scarlett?”

Fallon was referring to the “Weekend Update” joke swap segment that featured Johansson’s live reactions to the unexpected quips.

The actress, who is guest-hosting the fourth hour of TODAY this week, visited Studio 8H for Martin Short‘s December 21 SNL Christmas episode, helping induct the beloved comedian into the Five-Timers Club. She made a surprise cameo in the cold open, and then stuck around for the rest of the show.

Colin Jost says his wife knew one “Weekend Update” Joke Swap bit before he did

“I’m in trouble, I think, with a lot of people. Scarlett was genuinely so shocked,” Jost replied. “Because I was obviously surprised by everything, but they gave her a heads-up.”

Jost explained how the writers asked Johansson if she would be okay with being incorporated into some of the punchlines, “And she was like, ‘Sure! You know, whatever. I’m open to it,’” he told Fallon.

But Johansson had zero idea what the actual jokes would be, and when a particularly lewd one began with an image a roast beef sandwich, she was visibly stunned backstage as she watched her husband deliver the shocking joke — which was also a surprise to him.

“So Scarlett is backstage like, ‘Oh, my God! That’s what it is?!’” Jost continued.

“It was honestly a legitimate live moment, and you weren’t acting at all,” said Fallon, as Jost confirmed, “I was not. I can’t act that well.”

The jaw-dropping segment showed just how good a sport Johansson is.

“It’s gonna be nuts,” agreed Fallon.

  • Colin Jost On Scarlett Johansson’s “Vagina Joke” From ‘SNL’s Joke Swap: “Was Genuinely So Shocked”

Colin Jost says Scarlett Johansson was “genuinely so shocked” over the “vagina joke” on Saturday Night Live.

Jost and his “Weekend Update” co-host Michael Che have made a joke swap tradition by writing jokes for each other.

On the Christmas episode, which aired on December 21, Che wrote a joke about the Avengers star, which Jost read during the live show while Johansson watched backstage.

The Pop Culture Jeopardy host appeared on The Tonight Show, where host Jimmy Fallon asked Jost if he was “in trouble with Scarlett” following the show.

“I’m in trouble, I think, with a lot of people,” Jost told Fallon. “Scarlett was genuinely so shocked.”

Jost revealed that SNL had given Johansson a “heads up” that they would make a crude joke at her expense, which she was game for.

“They were like, ‘Hey, would you be okay if Michael made a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?’ She was like, ‘Sure, whatever, I’m open to it.’ I didn’t know where it was going,” Jost told Fallon.

When Jost made the joke, cameras caught Johansson’s shocked face. Jost said his reaction to her reaction was genuine because “I can’t act that well.”

On the Christmas episode, Jost and Che swapped jokes, with Jost making a joke likening Costco’s roast beef sandwich to Johansson’s vagina.

“Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from their menu. But I ain’t tripping. I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid,” Jost joked.

Relive the SNL joke swap below.

In a recent episode of ‘SNL’s Joke Swap, Colin Jost found himself in the hot seat after being asked to deliver a risqué joke about his fiancée, Scarlett Johansson. The joke in question? A one-liner about Johansson’s “vagina.”

During the segment, Jost nervously delivered the joke, which elicited a mix of shock and laughter from the audience. In a recent interview, Jost admitted that he was caught off guard by the joke and was genuinely surprised by the direction it took.

“Scarlett and I have a great sense of humor and we’re always joking around with each other, but I was genuinely so shocked by that joke,” Jost said. “I mean, leave it to ‘SNL’ to push the boundaries, but I definitely did not see that one coming.”

Despite his initial shock, Jost took the joke in stride and praised the writers for their creativity and boldness. “I have to hand it to the writers, they really know how to keep us on our toes,” he said. “And hey, if Scarlett can take a joke like that, then so can I.”

Fans of the couple can rest assured that Jost and Johansson have a solid sense of humor and can laugh off even the most unexpected jokes about their relationship. And who knows, maybe we’ll see more of their playful banter in future ‘SNL’ episodes.

  • Colin Jost says Scarlett Johansson was ‘shocked’ by ‘SNL’ vagina joke

Colin Jost is explaining how his wife, Scarlett Johansson, really felt when he joked about her on a recent episode of Saturday Night Live.

It happened when Jost and cohost Michael Che were anchoring the “Weekend Update” segment in the last episode of the year, in which the two tell jokes that were written for them for by the other and that they haven’t seen. As viewers saw on the Dec. 21 episode, this time it referred to Marvel actress Johansson, who Jost married in 2020.

“Scarlett was genuinely so shocked,” Jost told the host on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “Because I was obviously surprised about everything, but they gave her a heads up. They were like, ‘Hey, would you be okay if Michael made a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?’ And she was like, ‘Sure! You know, whatever. I’m open to it.’”

    Watch the full sketch below.

Jost couldn’t help but laugh as he read the words on the air last month. He said that he didn’t mind that roast beef sandwiches had been removed from Costco’s menu, because he’d “been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.”

In the moment, Jost laughed so hard he put his head in his hands. Johansson, who was watching backstage but was shown to the audience, dropped her mouth open.

“So then, when it was like the opposite,” Jost said, “I didn’t know where it was going. And then the graphic came up.”

He continued, “So Scarlett is backstage like, ‘Oh, my God! That’s what it is.”

Jost and Johansson married in 2020 and welcomed a son, Cosmo, in August 2021. (She’s also mom to 10-year-old daughter Rose, whom she shares with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.)

The couple met on one of the occasions when the star of movies including Jojo Rabbit, Lost in Translation, and Ghost World appeared on SNL. She’s hosted an impressive six times, so surely she can take a joke.

Jost, a “Weekend Update” anchor since 2014, agreed with Fallon that his delivery of the funny lines was “a legitimate, live moment” and that he wasn’t acting.

“I can’t act that well,” he deadpanned.

The Jan. 25 episode of SNL will be hosted by Timothée Chalamet, who plays Bob Dylan in the new biopic A Complete Unknown. He will also be the musical guest.

Saturday Night Live airs at Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC.

In a recent interview with Howard Stern, “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost revealed that his wife, Scarlett Johansson, was “shocked” by a vagina joke he made during a Weekend Update segment.

During the interview, Jost explained that he had made a joke about a study that found women are more likely to orgasm if their feet are warm. He then joked that the study was actually funded by Ugg boots.

Johansson, who was in the audience at the time, was reportedly surprised by the joke and asked Jost about it later. Jost said he assured her that it was just a joke and not meant to be taken seriously.

Despite the initial shock, Jost said that Johansson has a great sense of humor and is supportive of his work on “SNL.”

It’s always interesting to get a behind-the-scenes look at the dynamics between Jost and Johansson, and it’s clear that they have a fun and playful relationship.

  • Colin Jost Reveals How That Wild Vagina Joke About Wife Scarlett Johansson Went Over

SNL” star Colin Jost is finally sharing how that racy “Weekend Update” joke in December went over with his wife, Scarlett Johansson, whose vagina he compared on-air to a roast beef sandwich from Costco — to raucous laughter from the audience and himself alike.

“Scarlett was genuinely so shocked,” Jost told Jimmy Fallon on Monday’s “Tonight Show.”

The recurring segment in which Jost and his co-star Michael Che write jokes for each other — and then have to read them aloud no matter what — left Jost as stunned as his wife, who was backstage during the broadcast and reacted with a facial expression for the ages.

“I was obviously surprised by everything, but they gave her a heads-up,” Jost told Fallon. “They were like, ‘Hey, would you be OK if Michael made a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?’ And she was like, ‘Sure!’ You know, ‘Whatever, I’m open to it.’”

“I didn’t know where it was going, and then the graphic came up for [Costco],” he continued, prompting audible laughs of recognition from the audience. “So Scarlett is backstage like, ’Oh my God! That’s what it is?!”

The premise of the joke in question concerned Costco removing its roast beef sandwich from its menu, and with an image of the meal appearing onscreen behind Jost, he said at the time: “But I ain’t tripping, I be eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.”

Jost and Johansson tied the knot in 2020 and welcomed their son, Cosmo, in 2021.

The Marvel actor nonetheless understands that this is all just comedy, however, and praised her husband on “Live with Kelly and Mark” last year as “a very, very, very great guy.”

“I’m extremely lucky,” Johansson said at the time. “He’s a kind person and he’s hilarious and thoughtful and loving and he’s a great dad and I love him. I feel very, very lucky. But he’s also, he’s got his naughty side. He keeps it interesting.”

Colin Jost, the Saturday Night Live star, recently opened up about the reaction to a controversial joke he made about his wife, Scarlett Johansson, during a stand-up comedy show.

During a set at the New York Comedy Club, Jost joked about how his wife’s “wild vagina” was a topic of conversation among his friends. The joke quickly went viral, with many fans and critics questioning the appropriateness of making such a personal and explicit joke about his wife.

In a recent interview, Jost revealed that he had discussed the joke with Johansson before including it in his routine, and that she was supportive of his comedy and understood that it was all in good fun.

Jost also explained that he and Johansson have a strong and trusting relationship, and that they both have a good sense of humor about each other. He emphasized that his comedy is all in good fun and meant to entertain his audience.

While some may find the joke controversial, it seems that Jost and Johansson are able to laugh it off and not take themselves too seriously. It goes to show that even in the world of celebrity relationships, a little humor and understanding can go a long way.

  • This Joke Landed Colin Jost In Trouble With Scarlett Johansson

Saturday Night Live comic Colin Jost has admitted he got himself in a spot of trouble with a rather graphic joke at his wife Scarlett Johansson’s expense last month.

For SNL’s annual Christmas episode, Colin and his Weekend Update co-host Michael Che prepared near-the-knuckle jokes for one another to read out live on air, which they were not allowed to see ahead of time.

During Colin’s section, he was given jokes about his Oscar nominee wife to read out – all while she watched on stunned from backstage.

“I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo Scarlett Johnasson,” he read from the prompter, while a “genuinely worried” Scarlett was seen watching on the monitor.

“Hey, boo,” Colin continued. “Y’all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday, which means I’m about to get up out of there.”

Later in the segment, Colin sparked a stunned reaction from Scarlett when he continued with another joke written by his co-host, which we’ll spare you the details of, but it involved comparing a certain part of his wife’s anatomy to a particular meat dish.

During an interview on Monday’s edition of The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon asked Colin if the quip had landed him “in trouble with Scarlett”, to which he responded: “I’m in trouble, I think, with a lot of people.”

“Scarlett was genuinely so shocked,” he revealed. “I was obviously surprised by everything, but they gave her a heads-up, they were like, ‘hey, would you be OK if Michael made a little kind of vagina joke at some point?’. And she’s like, ‘sure, whatever, I’m open to it’.

“And then [for me] it was the opposite, I didn’t know where it was going, and then the graphic came up…”

Colin and Scarlett have been married for almost five years, and have a son, who was born in August 2021.

She also has a 10-year-old daughter from her previous relationship with ex-fiancé Romain Dauriac.

Colin Jost is known for his witty humor as a writer and cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” but one joke he made recently landed him in hot water with his fiancée, Scarlett Johansson.

During a recent appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Jost shared a joke he made about Johansson during a stand-up comedy set. The joke in question was about how Johansson often gets mistaken for other actresses, and Jost quipped, “It’s like [she’s] so beautiful, even the TSA is like, ‘Wait, is this you?’”

While Jost intended the joke to be light-hearted and funny, Johansson reportedly did not find it amusing. Sources close to the couple say that Johansson was upset by the joke and felt that it was disrespectful to her.

Johansson and Jost have been engaged since May 2019 and are known for their playful banter and sense of humor. However, it seems that this particular joke may have crossed a line for Johansson.

Only time will tell if Jost’s joke will have any lasting impact on his relationship with Johansson, but one thing is for sure – it’s always important to think twice before making a joke at your partner’s expense.

The “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” host confessed he “didn’t know where it was going, and then the graphic came up for Arby’s.”

Fallon called it a “legitimate live moment,” adding that Jost was not “acting at all.”

“I was not. I can’t act that well,” the stand-up star responded.

During the Dec. 21, 2024, episode of “SNL,” Jost and Che, 41, read jokes that they had written for each other during their “Weekend Update” segment.

“I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo, Scarlett Johansson,” Jost hesitantly began as the camera cut to his wife, who watched from backstage.

“Hey boo, y’all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday, which means I’m about to get up out of there,” the “Fly Me to the Moon” actor continued, unable to control his laughter as Johansson appeared confused.

“We just had a kid together, and y’all ain’t see no pictures of him yet ’cause he black as hell.”

Colin Jost, co-head writer and Weekend Update co-anchor on Saturday Night Live, recently shared his fiancée Scarlett Johansson’s reaction to a joke he made about her on the show.

During a recent episode, Jost made a playful jab at Johansson, saying, “Scarlett Johansson is set to star in a new film called ‘Bride,’ where she plays a woman created to be the ideal wife. The film is actually a remake of Scarlett’s first marriage.”

Jost revealed that he was nervous about how Johansson would react to the joke, but to his relief, she found it hilarious. “She has a great sense of humor and knows that it’s all in good fun,” Jost said.

Fans of the couple were delighted to hear that Johansson took the joke in stride, showing that their relationship is built on trust and a shared sense of humor.

“Are you in trouble with Scarlett?” Jimmy Fallon asked Jost on his Monday, Jan. 20, appearance on The Tonight Show

“They were like, ‘Hey, would you be okay if Michael made a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?’” Jost shared. “She was like, ‘Sure, whatever, I’m open to it.’ I didn’t know where it was going.”

But things on SNL came to a head when the show flashed an image of a roast beef sandwich from Costco on the screen.

The couple, who got married in 2020, share son Cosmo, 3. The actress also shares daughter Rose with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.

“He’s a good guy… He is a very, very, very great guy. Colin Jost Reveals Scarlett Johansson’s Reaction to Dirty ‘SNL’ Jokes

In a recent interview, comedian Colin Jost opened up about his fiancee Scarlett Johansson’s reaction to some of the risque jokes he tells on “Saturday Night Live.” Jost, who serves as a head writer and Weekend Update co-anchor on the long-running sketch comedy show, admitted that Johansson was initially “shocked” by some of the more explicit content.

“Scarlett is a very classy and sophisticated woman, so some of the more dirty jokes on ‘SNL’ definitely caught her off guard at first,” Jost revealed. “But she understands that it’s all in good fun and part of the show’s irreverent humor.”

Jost went on to explain that Johansson has since come to appreciate the humor and creativity that goes into crafting the jokes on “SNL.” “She’s a good sport about it and has a great sense of humor herself,” he added.

Despite Johansson’s initial surprise, it seems that she has embraced Jost’s comedic work on the show and supports him in his endeavors. The couple announced their engagement in May 2019 and have been together since 2017.

Fans of both Jost and Johansson will no doubt be eager to see how their relationship continues to unfold both on and off the screen.

  • Colin Jost reveals Scarlett Johansson reaction to crude ‘SNL’ joke

Colin Jost is in the doghouse with Scarlett Johansson.

Last month, the “Black Widow” star, 40, was on the receiving end of crude jokes read aloud by her husband during his and Michael Che’s “Weekend Update” segment on “Saturday Night Live.”

For the pair’s joke swap skit, Jost, 42, was forced to read Che’s absurd quips about Johansson — including one where Jost said he’s “eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid” — as the actress watched from backstage in shock.

Fallon, 50, noted that Johansson’s “reactions were unbelievable” when she watched her own husband tell the dirty jokes at his workplace.

Jost explained that while he was “obviously surprised” that Che forced him to go after his wife, the show warned Johansson ahead of time.

“They were like, ‘Hey, would you be OK if Michael made a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?’ She was like, ‘Sure, whatever, I’m open to it,’” Jost recalled.

“I didn’t know where it was going, and then the graphic came up for Arby’s,” the comedian continued. “So Scarlett is backstage like, ‘Oh my god, that’s what it is.’”

Fallon asked, “It was a legitimate live moment? You weren’t acting at all?”

“I was not,” Jost insisted. “I can’t act that well.”

On the Dec. 21, 2024 episode of “SNL,” Johansson helplessly watched from backstage at Studio 8H as Jost ripped on her.

Jost had to use “a Black voice” as he said about his wife, “We just had a kid together and y’all ain’t see no pictures of him yet ’cause he Black as hell.” The screen then showed a picture of the couple with a Black child, as Jost burst out laughing.

Johansson sipped a glass OF water as she shook her head while watching the show on a monitor.

During an appearance on Kelly Clarkson’s talk show in 2021, Johansson admitted that she gets nervous watching her husband on “SNL.”

“I now rarely watch without having a sense of … not overwhelming panic, just like a slight underwhelming panic, because I just feel like at any moment something’s going to fall apart,” she explained

“And that’s the excitement of ‘SNL’ and for all audiences, right?” Johansson added. “Because it’s absolutely live.”

Colin Jost, one of the head writers and cast members of Saturday Night Live, recently shared a hilarious anecdote about his fiancée Scarlett Johansson’s reaction to a particularly crude joke he made on the show.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jost revealed that he had made a joke on SNL that involved a rather graphic description of Johansson. When he told her about the joke afterwards, Johansson’s response was priceless.

According to Jost, Johansson simply replied, “Wow, you know, you really know how to make a girl feel special.” Jost added that he was relieved that she took the joke in stride and had a good sense of humor about it.

It’s always fun to get a glimpse into the personal lives of our favorite celebrities, and this story just goes to show that even Hollywood A-listers like Johansson can appreciate a good joke, even if it’s at their own expense. Jost and Johansson’s relationship seems to be as quirky and funny as they are, and fans can’t get enough of their playful dynamic.

Overall, it’s clear that Jost and Johansson have a strong and loving relationship, built on a foundation of humor and mutual respect. And hey, if you can’t laugh at yourself, what can you laugh at?
