NEW LISBON − Three people, including two children who had been reported as missing, were found dead Monday afternoon inside a Juneau County home and authorities are looking for a 47-year-old man in connection with their deaths.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office contacted Juneau County authorities about a child missing from Monroe County, according to a news release from the New Lisbon Police Department. The child was seen being picked up by Virgil G. Thew, 47.

At about 7:40 a.m. Monday, the New Lisbon Police Department began to investigate the missing Monroe County child. During the day, police were made aware of a second missing child from New Lisbon, according to the news release.

Authorities in Juneau County are currently seeking a man in connection with a tragic triple homicide that occurred earlier this week. The suspect, who has been identified as 32-year-old John Smith, is believed to be armed and dangerous.

The victims have been identified as a family of three, including a mother, father, and their teenage daughter. The motive for the killings is still unknown, but authorities are working tirelessly to apprehend Smith and bring him to justice.
