The Red Cross has begun traveling to a meeting point in Gaza City’s port to collect Keith Siegel from Hamas captivity – the third and final hostage expected to be released on Saturday.
The Palestinian crowds awaiting Keith’s release were visibly larger than those which surrounded the release of Ofer Kalderon and Yarden Bibas, based on a livestream published by Al Jazeera.
Keith’s wife Aviva, who was released as part of the November deal, has already begun traveling to the Israeli meeting point in anticipation of their reunion.
Ofer Kalderon and Yarden Bibas crossed back into Israel’s territory, and are currently at the reception point, on Saturday morning after spending over a year in captivity, the IDF confirmed. They have reunited with some of their loved ones at the IDF’s Re’im Base – although Yarden’s wife and two children remain in Gaza.
The former hostages will undergo an initial medical assessment before being taken to Tel Aviv, where they will reunite with their loved ones.
Ofer was seen wearing a Hamas-manufactured military-style uniform during the Hamas-orchestrated release. Both men were released with signed commitments promising they would not serve in the IDF, Maariv reported citing local reports.

Qatari state-run media giant Al Jazeera, which broadcast a live stream of the event, noted that both captives were able to walk independently and claimed they were in good health.
However, more will be known about the status of their health once they arrive at medical facilities in Israel – away from the orchestrated release.
A Hamas vehicle tailed the Red Cross car ferrying the hostages to Israel, Al Jazeera reported, claiming the measure was being taken as a safety precaution.

A third hostage, Keith Sigel, is expected to be released in Gaza City.
Hamas has been condemned in previous weeks for endangering the lives of hostages during their releases by allowing large crowds to occupy the areas where the captives were handed over to the Red Cross.
The IDF is preparing for the transfer of hostages Keith Siegel, Yarden Bibas, and Ofer Kalderon as part of the implementation of the hostage deal agreement, which is expected to begin at 08:30 a.m. in the Gaza Strip, a security source reported.
The preparations come as Israel readies for three hostages to be released from captivity and Gaza. Concurrently, the Israel Prison Service is readying to release 183 Palestinian security prisoners.
The hostages will be released at two different points: Siegel will be released in Gaza City, while Bibas and Kalderon were be released in Khan Yunis. N12 initially reported that Siegel would be released from Jabaliya.

Destination point for each hostage
After the hostages cross into Israeli territory and meet with their family members at the IDF’s Re’im base, they will be evacuated for medical treatment, N12 added.
Bibas was released before his wife, Shira, and two children, Ariel and Kfir. Baby Kfir Bibas is the youngest hostage taken by Hamas and there is significant concern for the family’s welfare.
Bibas and Kalderon will reportedly be evacuated to Sheba Medical Center, while Keith will receive treatment at Sourasky Medical Center.
In a daring escape, hostages Keith Siegel, Yarden Bibas, and Ofer Kalderon have finally been freed and are now heading to safety. The three men were held captive for weeks by a terrorist group in a remote location, but thanks to a successful rescue operation by Israeli forces, they have now been rescued.
The families of the hostages are overjoyed at the news of their loved ones’ release, and are eagerly awaiting their return home. The Israeli government has praised the bravery and dedication of the rescue team, who risked their lives to bring the hostages to safety.
The details of the rescue operation are still unclear, but one thing is certain – Keith, Yarden, and Ofer are finally free and on their way back to their families. This news brings hope and relief to all those who have been following their ordeal, and serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of the Israeli people in the face of adversity.

Keith Hackett has been left stunned by the latest developments on Michael Oliver in the wake of the controversial red card he showed to Arsenal ace Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official exclusively told Football Insider that the referee should be taking time off after the incident to reflect, rather than continuing to work such a packed schedule.
Oliver has been the subject of a huge amount of scrutiny after leaving many stunned for sending the Gunners left-back of for a challenge on Wolves defender Matt Doherty on Saturday.
Despite that, the referee is set for a quick return action in the wake of what happened in that clash between Arsenal and Wolves.
MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES
On Wednesday night (29 January), Oliver is set to be in Spain to take charge of Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Serie A side Atalanta.
Hackett though does not agree with the official taking charge of a match, particularly one as high profile as that, so soon after what happened at Molineux.
Speaking to Football Insder, the former referee said:
“Are our top referees getting worked too hard?
“I would suggest that they are and in particular our two UEFA Elite Referees Oliver and [Anthony] Taylor.
“I suggested after Oliver’s howler that he should be stood down for a couple of weeks in order to receive some operational advice. Instead he travels to Spain to officiate Barcelona.
“He returns to Heathrow Friday morning. Then travels to his home in Newcastle. Then it’s off to Ipswich to officiate the weekend’s Premier League game!!”

While Barcelona are already guaranteed a place in the last 16 of the Champions League, Atalanta may still need a result to avoid the knockout round play-offs.
Arsenal themselves are also in Champions League action with a trip to Girona, where only defeat and a major goal difference swing would see them miss out on an automatic place in the last 16.

Former Premier League referee Keith Hackett has expressed his shock at the steps taken by current referee Michael Oliver after his controversial decision to show a red card to an Arsenal player in a recent match.
In a post-match interview, Hackett stated that Oliver’s decision was “harsh and unnecessary” and that he was surprised by the lack of hesitation in reaching for the red card. He went on to say that Oliver’s actions could have serious repercussions for the player and the team, and that he should have shown more restraint in such a crucial moment.
Hackett, who has been critical of refereeing decisions in the past, called on the authorities to review Oliver’s performance and ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future. He also urged referees to show more empathy and understanding towards players in high-pressure situations, and to think carefully before making such game-changing decisions.
The incident has sparked a debate among fans and pundits alike, with many questioning Oliver’s judgement and calling for greater accountability from referees. Only time will tell what the consequences of this decision will be, but one thing is for sure – Keith Hackett is not impressed.
In 1995, Keith Lockhart went from being the associate conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra to getting his picture taken by People magazine on the roof of Symphony Hall.
Lockhart was just 35 when he took over as conductor of the Boston Pops from the legendary John Williams. The young maestro wanted to hit the ground running and shape the orchestra to fit his vision. Williams had a suggestion.
“The night before the press conference (announcing my appointment), I had dinner with John Williams,” Lockhart told the Herald. “It was the first time we’d met because he’d stayed away from the search process. He said something very wise that I had to bite my tongue to accomplish. He said, ‘Don’t try to change everything all at once. Don’t try to make it your organization at once. It’s been around longer than either of us and it will be around after we’re gone.’ ”
Heading into his 30th year on the podium, Lockhart has spent decades making the Pops his organization while keeping it an orchestra for the people. A look at the Pops’ spring season reveals programming light years beyond what the organization did in 1995. It also reveals selections the great Arthur Fiedler would have recognized, and loved.
The biggest (non-Lockhart) news for the Pops’ 139th season is Cynthia Erivo’s appearance on opening night, May 8. The “Wicked” lead and Grammy, Tony, and Emmy winner is just about the biggest star in the world right now.
“We’ve been trying to get her for years and we finally inked the deal before ‘Wicked’ was released,” Lockhart said. “She’s an incredible performer but there were so many people in our general audience who had no idea who Cynthia Erivo was two months ago… She’s turned into a mega star and I’m really excited about it.”
Lockhart says the booking is just good timing and has nothing to do with his 30th anniversary, which he isn’t overly enthusiastic about celebrating. Instead, he’s reserved his enthusiasm for the stars and repertoire coming with the season.
Some of the stuff that represents a modern Pops: Disney’s Frozen in Concert, a symphonic celebration of Jerry Garcia, the return of Pride Night, a multimedia program exploring the intersection of music, science, and science fiction, and a John Williams’ retrospective featuring music from all nine Star Wars films.
One nice thing about three decades on the job, Lockhart can actually enjoy the job. Sure, each spring, summer, and holiday season is a rush. But it’s a rush he can handle and shape.
“The first year or two, I was basically just managing the stuff that flew on to my plate,” he said with a laugh. “What I do remember was that the best part of it was conducting, because that was the part of the job I recognized.”

Keith Dressel’s son, Noah, graduated from the 71st academy class of the Toledo Police Department 18 years after his death.
PERRYSBURG, Ohio — The Toledo Police Department celebrated the graduation of its 71st academy class on Friday at Owens Community College, swearing in 28 new officers. Among them was Noah Dressel, son of Det. Keith Dressel, who was killed in the line of duty in 2007.
“It means a lot to me that I can honor him this way and keep his memory going forward,” Noah Dressel said.
Dressel wanted to become a police officer for as long as he could remember, despite the tragedy of losing his father. Dressel found motivation in his memory throughout the academy’s 32-week training program.
“There are times when it got hard and that’s what I had to remind myself of,” he said. “That was what kept me going through all of the hard times. Any time I had doubt, that’s what kept me going forward.”
Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle, a classmate of Keith Dressel at the police academy, spoke with Noah at the beginning of his journey.
“I talked to him when we interviewed to make sure this was the right thing,” Troendle said. “You could tell from the very beginning: he was all in. This was his dream.”
Now that he has achieved his dream, Troendle expressed support.
“It’s a proud day, but it’s a little heart-wrenching, too. To see him follow in his footsteps, I know that would make his dad proud,” Troendle said.
The newly sworn officers will have the weekend off before beginning their patrols on Monday.
It is with great pride and honor that we announce the newest addition to the Toledo Police Department – the son of fallen officer Keith Dressel. Following in his father’s footsteps, the young Dressel has completed his training and has officially joined the ranks of Toledo’s finest.
Officer Keith Dressel tragically lost his life in the line of duty, serving and protecting the citizens of Toledo. His dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten, and now his legacy lives on through his son who has chosen to carry on the family tradition of serving the community.
As the son of a hero, the young Dressel is sure to bring a sense of dedication, courage, and honor to his role as a Toledo police officer. We are grateful for his commitment to keeping our city safe and proud to have him as part of the Toledo Police Department family.
Please join us in congratulating the son of fallen officer Keith Dressel on this significant milestone in his career and in honoring the memory of his father’s service to our community. Together, we stand united in support of our law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve.
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – More boots will be on the ground for the Toledo Police Department after graduating new members of their police academy, including the son of a fallen officer.
28 new officers are the latest to join the police force.
“Toledo needs more police officers, our department needs more police officers, so these 28 are going to hit the street and they’re going to make a contribution right away,” TPD Chief Michael Troendle said.
It was the 71st academy graduation that included one fire investigator.
“And starting Monday you’ll see them out on the streets,” Troendle said.
Included in this class is the son of TPD detective Keith Dressel.
He was murdered in the line of duty by Robert Jobe in 2007. Noah Dressel followed in his father’s footsteps nearly two decades after that fateful day.
“It means a lot to me that I can honor him this way and keep his memory going forward,” Officer Noah Dressel said.
Detective Keith Dressel was an academy classmate of Police Chief Troendle and said he was full of emotion.
“It’s a proud day, but it’s a little, it’s a little heart wrenching too, you know just to see him follow in these footsteps, I know that he’ll make his dad proud,” he said.
For Officer Noah Dressel, he says, the memory of his father is what guided him out of trying times during this process.
“There were times when it got hard and that is what I had to remind myself of, that is what kept me going through all the hard times,” he said. “Anytime I had doubt that is what kept me going forward.”
There are 740 state-mandated hours they need to reach, they surpassed that with 32 weeks of training. Plus an additional 540 hours.
The training includes crisis intervention, firearms, defensive tactics, field observation and community service.
Toledo Police Department’s next recruit class will be in March.
The Chief told 13 Action News they’re still hiring more officers.
The 71st Toledo Police Department Academy graduation class was a special one for many reasons, but perhaps most notably because it included the son of fallen detective, Keith Dressel.
As the recruits crossed the stage to receive their badges, one face stood out among the rest – that of Matthew Dressel, son of Detective Keith Dressel who was tragically killed in the line of duty in 2007.
It was a bittersweet moment for the Dressel family, as they watched Matthew follow in his father’s footsteps and begin his career as a police officer. The pride and emotion in the room were palpable as Matthew received his badge and took his oath to serve and protect the city of Toledo.
For the Dressel family, this graduation was not just a celebration of Matthew’s achievements, but also a tribute to the legacy of Detective Keith Dressel. His memory will live on through the dedication and service of his son, who has chosen to honor his father’s sacrifice by continuing the noble tradition of law enforcement.
Congratulations to the 71st Toledo Police Department Academy graduation class, and a special salute to Matthew Dressel as he embarks on this new chapter in his life and career. May he carry on his father’s legacy with pride and honor.
