Fans Theorize Drake Dissed LeBron James on ‘Fighting Irish’ Song amid Kendrick Beef | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

Superstar rapper Drake seemingly took some shots at NBA legend LeBron James in his new freestyle entitled Fighting Irish, which dropped Friday.
Multiple X users expressed their belief that Drake was alluding to LeBron in the song, including a line about them trading watches:
Akademiks TV @AkademiksTV
“Talkin’ ’bout we family, well, I’m not the cousin to visit God forbid we ever got to tarnish your public image All that brother talk as if I really discovered a sibling Six degrees, my memory’s retrivin’ our humble beginnings”

Drake takes aim at LeBron James on his new Fightin… pic.twitter.com/lpepZEwmG2
If Fighting Irish is indeed about James, it is indicated in the song that he and Drake were once close before drifting apart.
Drake apparently taking aim at the Los Angeles Lakers star and one of the greatest basketball players of all time led to plenty of reaction on social media:
Perhaps removing any doubt about Fighting Irish being about LeBron is the fact that the team name for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, which James attended prior to going No. 1 overall in the 2003 NBA draft, is the Fighting Irish.
While the exact genesis of Drake’s beef with James isn’t known for something, there is a good chance that it stems from LeBron’s position in the feud between Drake and fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar.
Lamar’s diss track about Drake entitled Not Like Us was one of the biggest songs of 2024, and he performed it multiple times at his Pop Out concert at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, back in June.
James was in attendance and seemed to be enjoying himself, while fellow NBA players DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook joined Lamar on stage.
LeBron, who is in the midst of his 22nd NBA season, turned 40 on Monday, making him the first player in league history to appear in a game as both a teenager and a 40-year-old.
Fans have been buzzing with theories after Drake dropped his highly anticipated track “Fighting Irish” amid his ongoing beef with Kendrick Lamar. The song has sparked speculation that Drake may have taken a subtle jab at NBA superstar LeBron James. In the song, Drake raps, “I’m the king in this game, no need for a throne // My reign will never end, I’m in a league of my own.” Some fans have pointed out that these lyrics could be interpreted as a diss towards LeBron, who is often referred to as “The King” in the basketball world.
While Drake has not directly mentioned LeBron in the song, some fans believe that the timing of the release and the lyrics are too coincidental to ignore. The speculation has only intensified as Drake and Kendrick’s feud continues to escalate.
Regardless of whether or not Drake intended to diss LeBron, one thing is for sure – fans are eagerly awaiting LeBron’s response, if any, to the song. Stay tuned for updates as this story develops.

Drake Freestyle Calls Out People Who Switched Sides in Kendrick Feud
After closing the book on a turbulent 2024, Drake may be looking to make the most of a clean slate in the new year. Conductor Williams, a producer who has worked with the OVO boss, released a brand new Drizzy freestyle on his YouTube page on Friday (Jan. 3).
While the video was quickly taken down, fans grabbed the “Fighting Irish” freestyle and spammed the viral clip across social media. The visual captures Drake’s side profile as he raps through a small, grainy TV screen.
On the track, the 6 God gets introspective about the trials and tribulations of his 2024 over Conductor’s gleaming production, and seemingly blasts those who switched sides on him throughout the Kendrick Lamar feud.
“The world fell in love with the gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets, seemed like they loved every minute/ Just know the s–t is personal to us and wasn’t just business/ Analyzing behavioral patterns is somewhat suspicious,” he raps.
Drake appears to be targeting those he considered close friends, such as NBA stars DeMar DeRozan and LeBron James, who were in attendance for Kendrick’s Pop Out concert in June. The Fighting Irish was also the mascot for LeBron’s high school team when he attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Ohio.
Drizzy also dispels on the track Kendrick’s notion that he has a drinking problem, which Lamar alleged on the diabolical “Meet the Grahams.” “I don’t have a drinkin’ problem, I got a subtle addiction/ I got my father’s habits and I got my mother’s permission,” Drake rhymes.
He also sent a possible subtle jab at Universal Music Group regarding his legal actions alleging that his parent label artificially inflated the popularity of Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss track. “I hate to see their empire crumble on judges’ convictions,” he spews. (UMG denied his allegations, calling them “offensive and untrue” in a November statement to Billboard.)
Drake and Conductor have connected in the past on For All The Dogs tracks such as “8am in Charlotte” and “Stories About My Brother.”
Billboard has reached out to Drake and Conductor Williams for comment about the track and its removal.
Drake Freestyle Calls Out People Who Switched Sides in Kendrick FeudIn a recent freestyle, Drake took aim at those who have switched sides in his ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar. The two rappers have been trading diss tracks and subliminal shots for years, but it seems that some people are now jumping ship and siding with Kendrick.
In his freestyle, Drake raps, “I see you all switching sides, can’t decide who to ride with // One minute it’s me, the next it’s him, make up your damn mind, kid.” The Toronto native is clearly frustrated with those who are flip-flopping in the feud and is calling them out for their indecisiveness.
It’s no secret that the rivalry between Drake and Kendrick has been one of the most talked-about in hip-hop, with fans and critics alike taking sides. But Drake’s message in this freestyle is clear: if you’re going to ride with him, then stick with him through thick and thin.
It remains to be seen how Kendrick will respond to Drake’s latest shots, but one thing is for sure: the feud between these two titans of rap shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. And for those who can’t make up their minds about whose side to be on, Drake has a simple message: pick a side and stick to it.

Eminem breaks silence after Kendrick Lamar dethrones the rap god
Eminem is placing his bets on Kendrick Lamar to sweep the 2025 Grammy Awards, even though the two rap icons will face off in the Best Rap Performance category.
Speaking on SiriusXM’s Shade45 during its 20th-anniversary celebration, the rap icon praised Lamar’s monumental year, calling him a “top-tier lyricist” and declaring that “Kendrick is gonna sweep that sh*t. He’s going to, and he should.”
Lamar, already crowned Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star of 2024, has seven Grammy nominations, including double entries in some categories thanks to hits like his Drake diss track Not Like Us and his collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin on Like That.
Both songs dominated the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024, solidifying his grip on the industry.
Moreover, K.Dot’s album GNX also outperformed Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady on the charts, debuting with 319,000 equivalent album units compared to Eminem’s 281,000, and setting the year’s biggest streaming week for an R&B/hip-hop album with 379.72 million on-demand streams.
Meanwhile, Eminem’s own Grammy nods include Best Rap Performance for his single Houdini and Best Rap Album for The Death of Slim Shady. Lamar’s GNX, however, won’t be competing this year due to its release outside the 2025 Grammy eligibility period.
This isn’t the first time Eminem has publicly praised Lamar. The two shared the stage at the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show and have long expressed mutual respect. “Kendrick is at the very, very top tier of lyricists,” Eminem said, adding, “Not just of this generation, but of all time.”
After Kendrick Lamar’s recent rise to the top of the rap game, dethroning long-reigning rap god Eminem, fans have been eagerly waiting to hear from the Detroit native himself. And now, Eminem has finally broken his silence on the matter. In a recent interview, Eminem congratulated Kendrick Lamar on his success and praised his talent and work ethic. He acknowledged that Lamar’s skills as a lyricist and storyteller have earned him the respect and admiration of both fans and fellow artists.
Despite being surpassed by Lamar in terms of critical acclaim and commercial success, Eminem remains confident in his own abilities and legacy in the rap world. He expressed his willingness to continue pushing the boundaries of his artistry and evolving as an artist.
Fans of both Eminem and Kendrick Lamar can only hope that this friendly rivalry will continue to inspire both artists to create groundbreaking music that will shape the future of hip-hop.

Eminem is betting on Kendrick Lamar to dominate the 67th annual Grammy Awards.
The Detroit rap icon shared his predictions for the upcoming ceremony in a recent interview. Eminem didn’t mince words when praising the Compton emcee. “The competition is tough, but Kendrick is going to sweep it. He deserves to,” he declared in a clip from the broadcast.
Kendrick’s hit “Not Like Us” is a frontrunner in several major categories, including Record of the Year. The track is up against fierce contenders like Beyoncé’s “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” and Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone.
It’s also nominated for Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. Lamar even secured additional nods in the latter two categories for his contributions to Metro Boomin and Future’s “Like That.”
Eminem himself is in the running for Best Rap Performance with his track “Houdini,” a standout from his latest project, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). He faces stiff competition from Cardi B’s “Enough (Miami),” Doechii’s “NISSAN ALTIMA,” Common and Pete Rock’s “When the Sun Shines Again,” and GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!” Eminem is also eyeing the Best Rap Album award for Coup De Grâce, a project that has sparked significant buzz.
In a twist of irony, Eminem name-checked Kendrick more than once on Coup De Grâce, notably on tracks like “Lucifer” and the album opener, “Renaissance.” On the latter, he critiques critics while referencing Lamar:
“‘Kendrick’s album was cool, but it didn’t have any bangers’/ ‘Wayne’s album or Ye’s, couldn’t tell you which one was lamer,’” he raps, adding, “You nerdy pricks would find somethin’ wrong with 36 Chambers/ It’s what they do to the greats/ Pick apart a Picasso and make excuses to hate.”
The mutual respect between the two artists runs deep. Eminem previously invited Lamar to join him on stage at the 2022 Super Bowl LVI halftime show, where Kendrick delivered a powerful performance of “m.A.A.d city.” In a full-circle moment, Lamar is set to headline the Super Bowl halftime show for the first time in February 2025.
With Grammy buzz at an all-time high, both Eminem and Kendrick Lamar remain at the forefront of hip-hop, proving their enduring influence on the genre.
With the Grammy Awards just around the corner, it’s time to make some bold predictions. And one thing is for sure – Kendrick Lamar is gonna sweep. The critically acclaimed rapper has been dominating the music scene with his powerful lyrics, unparalleled flow, and thought-provoking themes. With multiple nominations in various categories, including Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Performance, Kendrick Lamar is poised to take home multiple trophies on music’s biggest night.
His groundbreaking album “DAMN.” has not only topped the charts but has also resonated with fans and critics alike for its raw honesty and social commentary. With his unmatched talent and impact on the industry, it’s hard to imagine anyone else coming close to the level of success that Kendrick Lamar has achieved.
So mark my words – Kendrick Lamar is gonna sweep the Grammys this year. And rightfully so. His music transcends boundaries and speaks to a generation in a way that few artists can. Get ready for a night filled with Kendrick Lamar’s well-deserved victories.

#Kendrick #Lamar #Gonna #SweepEminem Believes Kendrick Lamar Is Going to ‘Sweep’ 2025 Grammy Awards
Kendrick Lamar was rap’s undoubted MVP of 2024 and Billboard‘s Greatest Pop Star of the Year, and Eminem thinks his epic run is going to continue into 2025.
While Em and Lamar will be facing off in the best rap performance category at the 2025 Grammy Awards, Eminem believes that K. Dot is going to “sweep” all seven of his nominations come Feb. 2.
More from Billboard
Slim Shady and Paul Rosenberg celebrated 20 years since the launch of their SiriusXM station Shade45 on Christmas Eve when they joined DJ Whoo Kid for an interview on the channel, which ended with Em giving Lamar his props.
“It’s very stiff competition,” Eminem said of his Grammy-nominated peers. “Kendrick is gonna sweep that sh–. He’s going to, and he should.”
Across Lamar’s seven noms, there are categories where he’s double-dipping with dual consideration thanks to his Mustard-produced “Not Like Us” Drake diss and his assist on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” both of which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024.
Eminem is competing in a stacked best rap performance category with his The Death of Slim Shady lead single “Houdini” in the mix.
The Detroit icon also earned a nomination in the best rap album category for The Death of Slim Shady, which Lamar’s GNX won’t be in since it was released outside of the Grammy calendar for 2025 so it will compete for a nom at the 2026 awards.
Eminem has long hailed Kendrick Lamar’s greatness as he declared that K. Dot was “at the very, very top tier of lyricists. Not just of this generation, but of all time.”
They also hit the Super Bowl stage together in 2022 when the big game came to Los Angeles for the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show headlined by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.
Listen to the full interview below. Kendrick’s Grammy talk begins shortly after the 30-minute mark.

Chargers vs. Patriots Player Props for Rhamondre Stevenson, Kendrick Bourne
The Los Angeles Chargers (9-6) travel east to face off against the New England Patriots (3-12) on Saturday of NFL Week 17. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on NFL Network.
Let’s look at a pair of Chargers vs Patriots props on the New England side.
Chargers vs. Patriots Player Props
- Rhamondre Stevenson Over 42.5 Rushing Yards (-113, FanDuel)
- Kendrick Bourne Over 21.5 Receiving Yards (-115, DraftKings)
Rhamondre Stevenson Over 42.5 Rushing Yards (-113)
By Grant Neiffer
Even with Antonio Gibson back, Stevenson should get a large share of New England’s rushing offense.
The matchup here isn’t bad with the Chargers being a middle-of-the-pack defense vs. the rush this season and one of the better pass defenses in the league. I expect the Patriots to rely heavily on Stevenson as they look to keep the pressure off Drake Maye. Also, this should be a spot where the Patriots aren’t forced to move the ball through the air as the spread is just four points.

Kendrick Bourne Over 21.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
By Matt Trebby
Kendrick Bourne has been Drake Maye’s most consistent target among Patriots wide receivers this season. In his last six games, Bourne has 21 receptions on 24 targets.
In Week 15, Bourne only ran 14 routes, but he bounced back with 32 last week against the Bills, which were his second most of the season. Here, we’re betting on another Patriots trailing game script and for Maye to keep looking Bourne’s way.
Bourne had gone over this total in five straight games before only getting 18 receiving yards last week. This week, Sean Koerner is projecting Bourne for 28.5 receiving yards, while Chris Raybon has him pegged for 24.6. I’d play this over up to 23.5.
The Chargers vs. Patriots game is sure to be an exciting matchup, and there are plenty of player props to keep an eye on for Rhamondre Stevenson and Kendrick Bourne.Rhamondre Stevenson, the rookie running back for the Patriots, has been making a name for himself with his strong performances on the field. Look for him to have a big impact in this game, with player props including rushing yards, total touchdowns, and receiving yards.
On the other side of the ball, Kendrick Bourne, the wide receiver for the Patriots, has been a key target for quarterback Mac Jones. Keep an eye on player props for Bourne such as receiving yards, total receptions, and touchdown receptions.
Both Stevenson and Bourne have the potential to make a big impact in this game, so be sure to keep an eye on their player props as the game unfolds. Who do you think will have the bigger game – Stevenson or Bourne? Let us know in the comments below!

Kendrick Perkins calls KAT-Julius Randle trade one of the worst in NBA history
Before Timberwolves snuck past the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day, the cast from the NBA on ESPN spent some time reviewing the early returns of the trade that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks and brought Julius Randle to Minnesota — and Kendrick Perkins had quite the take.
“Real talk. This trade by Minnesota could arguably go down as the worst trade in NBA history,” Perkins said.
Stephen A. Smith reacted with “come on, man, that’s a bit hyperbolic.” Perkins wasn’t backing down.
“You trade away a guy, one of the most skilled bigs, one of the best shooting bigs to ever play the game in Karl-Anthony Towns, that you just went to the Western Conference Finals with. Not only did you trade him away, you trade him away when he was in his prime. And you get back a guy in Julius Randle, who could go out there and get you 20 and 10, but he doesn’t complement Anthony Edwards well,” Perkins said.
“And so when you think about Anthony Edwards this season, he also attacked and went publicly for their offense. And everybody is wondering why is he shooting so many 3-point shots? Why is he not attacking the paint? How? When you have Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert on the floor at the same time, teams are going to play boxes and elbows, they’re going to load up on Anthony Edwards, they’re going to go under screens. Julius Randle does not fit with Anthony Edwards.”
While Randle’s fit can be debated all day long, there’s no denying that part of the reason Towns was traded was to help Minnesota get below the second apron of the NBA’s luxury tax, which comes with huge tax penalties and roster restrictions.
As for it being one of the worst trades in NBA history, that’s just bollocks.
One of the worst trades in NBA history was when the Clippers gave the Thunder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Galinari and seven first-round picks for Paul George.
What about on draft night in 1998 when the Bucks selected Dirk Nowitzki only to ship him to Dallas for Robert Traylor? Ouch. And who could forget 1996 when the Hornets drafted Kobe Bryant before trading him to the Lakers for Vlade Divac.
The KAT trade hasn’t worked out yet for the Timberwolves and Towns is have a career-year in New York, but it’s way too early to put the blockbuster deal anywhere near the category of worst trades in NBA history.
In a recent interview, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins did not hold back when discussing the trade between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the New York Knicks that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle.Perkins called the trade “one of the worst in NBA history” and criticized both teams for their decision-making. He argued that Towns, a former All-Star and one of the best big men in the league, should not have been traded for Randle, who has had a mixed career and has not reached the same level of success as Towns.
Many fans and analysts have also expressed their disbelief at the trade, with some labeling it as a major mistake for both teams. Only time will tell if this trade will go down as one of the worst in NBA history, but for now, it has certainly sparked a heated debate among basketball fans.
