  • Want to butter up Donald Trump? Roll out King Charles – POLITICO

Prime ministers don’t boss kings around, but, said Harman: “Ultimately, the royals are public servants. If the state wants them to entertain and talk to, meet and get on with whoever’s in the White House, then it’s their duty to do what the elected government wants them to do.”

    Pomp and ceremony

A fresh Trump visit to the U.K. is unlikely to be free of controversy.

Just last week, the opposition Liberal Democrats said the firebrand U.S. president — a “threat to peace and prosperity” — should not be afforded the trappings of another state visit unless he agrees to a sit-down summit with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Even so, the British government will be tempted to pull out all the stops for the U.S. president.

“For someone like Trump, where pride is so important and his image is so important, that pomp and ceremony will be really powerful just for his affinity,” said Aspinall. She argued that the royals could even help Britain stand out among republican European nations amid major geopolitical tensions. “If there was a trade war, he might be more sympathetic to the U.K.,” she argued.

“Nobody will be imagining that it’s magic and he [Charles] can do things that other people can’t, but it will enhance the relationship at appropriate times, and he will want to do that quite naturally,” said the ex-FCDO official of the monarch.

With a long list of British worries about the incoming president, Starmer will need all the help he can get.

Anne McElvoy and Peter Snowdon contributed to this report.

King Charles, the renowned butter brand, is making waves in the political arena with their latest campaign to "butter up" none other than Donald Trump. In a clever move to appeal to the President's taste buds, King Charles is rolling out their finest butter products to win over the Commander-in-Chief.

With Trump's well-known affinity for buttery foods, King Charles is hoping to make a lasting impression on the President and secure a spot in his heart (and his kitchen). From their creamy butter spreads to their rich, indulgent butter sticks, King Charles is pulling out all the stops to show Trump that they mean business.

As the political landscape continues to shift and change, it's clear that butter may just be the key to winning over even the most powerful figures in the world. So if you want to butter up Donald Trump, look no further than King Charles.

  • Madonna posts poignant message honoring Martin Luther King Jr. as President Trump is sworn in for second term

Madonna posted a poignant message honoring Martin Luther King Jr. on the national holiday in his honor Monday, concurring with as President Donald Trump being sworn in for the second time in Washington, D.C.

The 66-year-old pop superstar took to Instagram with a series of images of King and text splayed across a clip of the 1963 March on Washington, expressing her resigned sentiments on the day.

‘I prefer to focus on what we have to be grateful for,’ said the Grammy-winning singer, whose full name is Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone. ‘Great leaders like Martin Luther King. Fearless Leaders that Truly fought for Love.

In a possible allusion to Trump, Madonna said that King did not stand for ‘separation or degradation or Violent threats of any kind to any people.’

The artist of hits including Vogue, Material Girl and Papa Don’t Preach wrapped up in saying, ‘Happy birthday M.L.K.!! We celebrate you and all that is good. It’s no coincidence that you birthday is on inauguration day.’

‘You are indeed, a King [and] a reminder that theme is still hope. Hope that with our collective Unified consciousness, we will have the merit to have great leaders like you in the future.

The pop superstar took to Instagram with a series of images of King, and text splayed across a clip of people marching, expressing her resigned sentiments on the day

The pop icon took to the social media platform as Trump was sworn in as 47th president, immediately inking executive orders overturning Biden administration mandates on issues including industrial regulations; DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) statutes; environmental policies; and the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Madonna has been outspoken about her distaste for Trump in the past on numerous occasions.

After his defeat of former Vice President Kamala Harris in November, Madonna said on the social media site: ‘Trying to get my head around why a convicted felon, rapist, bigot was chosen to lead our country because he’s good for the economy?’

She subsequently shared an image of a cake that was inscribed with the message, ‘F*** Trump,’ noting, ‘Stuffed my face with this cake last night!’

The musical mainstay spoke out as Trump drew many higher-profile entertainers to his side as his second term kicked off, as entertainers such as Carrie Underwood, Nelly, Snoop Dogg and The Village People were involved in inaugural events.

Eight years ago, Trump reportedly struggled to enlist stars to be part of the swearing-in and the various glitzy balls that followed as the entertainers to take the stage included America’s Got Talent alum Jackie Evancho, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Rockettes.

In 2017, the concurrent protest marches around the nation had more famous entertainers than the swearing-in, which stood in stark contrast to someone like Barack Obama, whose second inaugural ceremony had performances from Beyoncé, James Taylor and Kelly Clarkson and a series of starry onlookers.

There were always some celebrity Trump supporters, like Kid Rock, Hulk Hogan, Jon Voight, Rosanne Barr, Mike Tyson, Sylvester Stallone and Dennis Rodman, to name a few. But Trump´s victory this time around was decisive and while Hollywood may always skew largely liberal, the slate of names participating in his inauguration weekend events has improved.

Trump takes the oath of office as his wife Melania and his children look on during inauguration ceremonies in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol on January 20, 2025 in Washington, D.C.

Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, The Village People and Lee Greenwood all performed at a MAGA style rally Sunday. Those performing at inaugural balls include the rapper Nelly, country music band Rascal Flatts, country singer Jason Aldean and singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw.

Even some who have publicly criticized Trump in the past seem to have changed course: One of the highest-profile examples is the rapper Snoop Dogg, who in a 2017 music video pretended to shoot a Trump lookalike, and then this weekend performed at a pre-Inaugural event called The Crypto Ball

When a social media user posted a video of his performance, his name quickly became a trending topic on social media with a fair amount of disbelief and outrage.

Where Trump once emphasized the otherness of a Hollywood that largely shunned him, he´s now turned his attention back to the entertainment capital as a project to be saved. He named Stallone, Voight and Mel Gibson as his chosen ‘ambassadors’ for the mission.

Following the election, celebrity detractors have also been quieter than in 2017, when nationwide marches brought out the likes of Cher, Madonna, Katy Perry, Alicia Keys and Janelle Monae.

The People´s March in D.C. on Saturday did not boast about any celebrity participants. At the Golden Globe Awards in early January, Trump´s name was not mentioned on stage – a stark contrast to 2017, when Meryl Streep used her lifetime achievement award speech to decry the president-elect before his first term began.

As President Trump was sworn in for his second term, pop icon Madonna took to social media to share a poignant message honoring civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

In her post, Madonna reflected on the legacy of Dr. King and his fight for equality and justice for all. She emphasized the importance of continuing his work and standing up against discrimination and bigotry.

The timing of Madonna’s post, on the day of President Trump’s inauguration, was not lost on her followers. Many praised her for speaking out against the current political climate and for using her platform to promote love and unity.

As the country grapples with issues of racial injustice and division, Madonna’s message serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of standing up for what is right and working towards a more just and equitable society. Let us all take inspiration from the words of Dr. King and continue the fight for equality and justice for all. #MartinLutherKingJr #InaugurationDay #Madonna

  • Justin Bieber shares poignant Martin Luther King Jr quote amid Donald Trump’s inauguration

Justin Bieber celebrated Martin Luther King Day with a poignant quote from the late Civil Rights activist.

This year, MLK Day, which always falls on the third Monday in January, coincided with the second inauguration of Donald Trump held on January 20.

In honor of the federal holiday, intended to honor the life and legacy of the former minister, the 30-year-old pop star and new father shared an image of Dr. King on Instagram.

“Hate can’t drive out hate only love can do that,” Bieber wrote in the caption. “Love you happy MLK DAY.”

The Grammy-winning singer’s message was met with an outpouring of support in the comments below, with one user responding: “YES it’s MLK day and not trump TELL EM.”

“Only man worth celebrating today,” a second declared.

A third replied with another famous King Jr. quote: “Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere.”

King Jr., the leader of the American civil rights movement who died in 1968, is celebrated every year for organizing countless peaceful protests, including the famous March on Washington, throughout his life in the fight for racial equality and the end of segregation.

The first official Martin Luther King Day took place in 1986, three years after President Ronald Reagan signed a bill into law that established his birthday as a federal holiday.

Meanwhile, Inauguration Day was initially held on March 4, when incoming presidents, vice presidents, and members of Congress were sworn into office.

However, in 1933, the 20th Amendment was ratified, moving Inauguration Day up to January 20. Since then, each President-elect has taken the presidential oath of office every four years, whether it’s their first or second term.

During Trump’s inauguration, he addressed the nation claiming that a new “golden age of America” had begun.

Standing behind a lectern adorned by the presidential seal, Trump said his return to the White House would ensure that America would “not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer.”

“Our sovereignty will be reclaimed. Our safety will be restored. The scales of justice will be rebalanced. The vicious, violent and unfair weaponization of the Justice Department and our government will end and our top priority will be to create a nation that is proud, prosperous and free,” he promised.

Just two hours after being sworn in, the president has begun signing more than 200 executive orders — a record — covering everything from border security and energy to ending birthright citizenship and renaming the Gulf of Mexico.

Justin Bieber took to social media today to share a poignant quote from civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr amid Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 45th President of the United States.

The quote reads: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

In a time of political division and uncertainty, Bieber’s choice to share this message of love and unity is a powerful reminder of the importance of coming together as a nation. As the world watches the transition of power in the United States, it is crucial to remember the values of peace, equality, and justice that Martin Luther King Jr fought for.

Bieber’s post has already garnered thousands of likes and shares, with fans and followers expressing their appreciation for his message of hope and positivity. As we navigate the challenges and changes that lie ahead, let us all take inspiration from the words of Martin Luther King Jr and strive to be beacons of light and love in a world that sometimes feels dark.

  • The Monkey Has Screened, And Critics Are Bringing Up The Same Two Things While Praising The Stephen King Movie

The 2025 movie schedule is in full swing and, while we’re still early into the new year, a number of exciting titles either have released or are just around the corner. In that latter category is Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey – an upcoming Stephen King movie. Over the past year, horror hounds have received teases of the flick and, now, it’s officially screened for critics. Fans will be happy to hear that pundits are praising Perkins’ latest cinematic venture, and they’re bringing up two key elements while doing so.

For those who aren’t familiar, The Monkey is adapted from Stephen King’s 1980 short story of the same name. The film follows two brothers who, after finding a vintage toy monkey belonging to their father, witness a number of gruesome deaths. While the siblings try to distance themselves from the eerie vibes of the item, they eventually seek to put an end to its curse for good. CinemaBlend’s resident Stephen King fan, Eric Eisenberg, was among those to see the film, and he highlighted comedy and gore while talking up the film on Bluesky:

Osgood Perkins’ THE MONKEY is super over the top, really disgusting, and a blast. It has a blunt comedic sensibility that pairs wonderfully with its extreme gore, and it successfully earns the superlative ‘Funniest Stephen King Movie.’

“The Monkey Has Screened, And Critics Are Bringing Up The Same Two Things While Praising The Stephen King Movie”

The depth and complexity of the characters in “The Monkey” have not gone unnoticed, as the actors bring a sense of realism and authenticity to their roles.

Overall, “The Monkey” is shaping up to be a must-see film for fans of Stephen King and horror movies alike. With its spine-tingling atmosphere and stellar performances, this movie is sure to leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
