Kings’ Domantas Sabonis not selected for 2025 NBA All-Star Game
SACRAMENTO — Sacramento Kings star big man Domantas Sabonis was not selected for this year’s NBA All-Star Game.
Sabonis, a three-time All-Star, is averaging 20.9 points, a league-leading 14.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists, which only trails Nuggets star Nikola Jokic among all big men.
NBA coaches select the reserves after the 10 names for the starters pool were announced last week through a combination of fan voting (50%), media voting (25%) and active player voting (25%).
San Antonio star and reigning rookie of the year Victor Wembanyama is an All-Star for the first time, one of the 14 players announced Thursday night as members of the reserve pool for the Feb. 16 event in San Francisco.
Wembanyama becomes only the fourth Spurs player to make the All-Star Game in his first or second season. The others: Alvin Robertson in 1986, David Robinson in 1990 and 1991, and Tim Duncan in 1998.
There were seven players picked Thursday from each conference. From the Eastern Conference: Boston’s Jaylen Brown, Indiana’s Pascal Siakam, Cleveland’s Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, Detroit’s Cade Cunningham, Milwaukee’s Damian Lillard — last year’s All-Star MVP — and Miami’s Tyler Herro.
From the West: Wembanyama, Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Clippers’ James Harden, Memphis’ Jaren Jackson Jr., Houston’s Alperen Sengun and Oklahoma City’s Jalen Williams.
Wembanyama, Cunningham, Mobley, Herro, Sengun and Williams are first-time All-Stars.
There will be at least 15 players who “start” at the All-Star Game this season. It’s the first year of a new All-Star format, with three games. The 24 All-Stars will be drafted into three teams of eight players apiece by TNT personalities and former NBA greats Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith.
Those three teams will be entered into a four-team tournament, with the remaining squad made up of NBA rookies and second-year players from the Rising Stars event on All-Star Friday. There are two semifinal games, with the winners meeting in a championship game. The games should go quickly; the first team to reach 40 points wins.
Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault and an assistant from his staff will coach two of the teams, and Cleveland coach Kenny Atkinson and one of his assistants will lead the others.
Among the notable names who did not make it: Charlotte’s LaMelo Ball — who narrowly missed out on being picked as a starter, but didn’t have enough coach support to be a reserve — along with Atlanta’s Trae Young, Phoenix’s Devin Booker, Dallas’ Kyrie Irving and the Clippers’ Norman Powell.
Despite putting up impressive numbers this season, Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings has been left off the roster for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game. Sabonis, who is averaging a double-double with 20.5 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, was seen as a strong candidate for the All-Star nod.Fans and analysts alike have expressed disappointment over Sabonis’ exclusion from the All-Star Game, with many citing his consistent performance and impact on the Kings’ success this season. Despite his snub, Sabonis remains focused on helping his team make a playoff push and continuing to prove his worth as one of the top players in the league.
While Sabonis may not be participating in the All-Star Game this year, his standout play and work ethic have not gone unnoticed. Fans can expect to see him continue to elevate his game and make a strong case for future All-Star selections.

Game Fifty Preview: Kings @ Lightning
The Los Angeles Kings head into their fourth of a five-game road trip taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning.
This is the second and final meeting of the 2024-25 NHL Regular Season between these two clubs. The Kings pulled out a 2-1 victory at home on January 4, 2025. During that contest, Kings Defenseman Joel Edmundson took a scary hit by Lightning Forward Zemgus Girgensons which sidelined the former for three games. To be out of action for only three games shows just how tough of a customer Edmundson is!
This is the second game of a back-to-back for the LA Kings who are 5-1-0 in game two, this season.
Tampa Bay have done well at home with a 15-7-1 record.
FOEG’ET ABOUT IT!
Kings Forward Warren Foegele has squared off against the Lightning twenty times in his career. In his first matchup against Tampa Bay on October 16, 2018, Foegele finished the night with one assist in 15:09 TOI.
In the fourteen matchups that followed, Foegele was held without a point.
After that slump, he found the scoresheet three consecutive times on November 8, 2022, January 19, 2023, and November 18, 2023, registering one point in each contest (1G, 2A).
In their last two meetings, he has again been held without a point.
Foegele has only registered two points (1G, 1A) in twelve games played throughout the month of January.
Warren Foegele in Seasons Past:
January 2024: 11GP – 3G – 4A – 7P
January 2023: 9GP – 1G – 2A – 3P
January 2022: 10GP – 0G – 4A – 4P
Statistics, schmatistics! Just go out there and do your thing, Foegy!
‘BOUT IT, ‘BOUT IT
Since being blanked against the Kings on January 4, 2025, Lightning Forward Nikita Kucherov has recorded a point in twelve of thirteen contests (6G – 14A – 20P). In the only game he didn’t register a point, Tampa Bay were shutout 2-0 by the Detroit Red Wings.
HAVE TO LAF ABOUT IT
On this road trip, Kings Forward Alex Laferriere has had two goals waved off due to play away from the puck. Both goals were pretty and clean which I’m sure adds to the frustration.
To avoid getting bitter, Laferriere needs to laugh it off and keep shooting.
Puck drop is slated for 4:05 PM PST. You can watch the game on television via the FanDuel Sports Network or listen live with the ESPN LA app.

Game Fifty Preview: Kings @ LightningThe Los Angeles Kings are set to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in their fiftieth game of the season. Both teams are coming off strong performances and will be looking to continue their winning ways.
The Kings have been led by their top line of Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown, and Adrian Kempe, who have been producing at a high level all season. They will need to continue their strong play in order to compete with the high-powered Lightning offense.
Tampa Bay, on the other hand, boasts one of the most potent offenses in the league, led by superstars Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov. The Lightning will look to continue their scoring prowess against a tough Kings defense.
In terms of goaltending, both teams have solid netminders in Jonathan Quick for the Kings and Andrei Vasilevskiy for the Lightning. It will be a battle of the goalies as they try to shut down the opposing offense.
Overall, this matchup promises to be an exciting and high-scoring game between two talented teams. Tune in to see who comes out on top in this clash of the titans.

Gameday 52: Florida Panthers vs Los Angeles Kings
Graphic design: Francisco Oporta
The Florida Panthers (29-19-3) are back from the left coast and will host the Los Angeles Kings (26-15-6) tonight to open a three-game homestand at Amerant Bank Arena.
Florida had to settle for a 2-2 road trip after getting stymied by Adin Hill and the Vegas Golden Knights in Sunday night’s 4-1 loss at T-Mobile Arena. Anton Lundell was the only Cat able to light the lamp as the Panthers offensive struggles reared their ugly head again, wasting another good start from Spencer Knight.
After edging the Panthers 2-1 at Crypto.com Arena on January 22, the Kings, who are in the midst of a five-game road trip, have dropped consecutive games to the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings. Kevin Fiala and Quinton Byfield scored late in the first period, but Los Angeles surrendered the game’s last five goals at Little Caesars Arena. Despite the little swoon, the Kings lead over the Calgary Flames for third place in the Pacific Division remains at three points.

#Sacramento #Kings #York #Knicks #Jan #Box #ScoresDe’Aaron Fox trade rumors: Kings to open talks, and All-Star guard has a West landing spot in mind
The Sacramento Kings are expected to open trade talks for All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline, according to multiple reports. There is expected to be a robust market for Fox’s services, but according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, it is believed that Fox has a preferred destination in mind ahead of his impending free agency in 2026. According to Kings reporter James Ham, that destination is believed to be the San Antonio Spurs.
Fox trade rumors were common earlier in the season, when the Kings were struggling under Mike Brown. After they fired Brown and promoted Doug Christie, though, the Kings have gone 10-4 and crept back into the Western Conference playoff race. That had seemingly quieted the noise surrounding Fox, at least for the time being, but the Kings have been on alert since this offseason, when Fox elected to not sign a contract extension that could have kept him in Sacramento long-term. Fox reportedly wants to compete for championships, and he seems to have a team in mind on which he can do so.
Earlier this season, when the Fox rumors were at their peak, two teams that were known to be interested were the Spurs and the Houston Rockets. Houston has built a contender this season around a dominant defense, but has struggled to score late in games, an area in which Fox excels. The Spurs, meanwhile, are still looking for a star running mate for Victor Wembanyama as he ascends to his perch as the future face of the sport. Fox would be an obvious fit. The Miami Heat, built around Fox’s college teammate, Bam Adebayo, make sense as well. They are trying to trade Jimmy Butler right now, and could turn around and send assets received in that deal to Sacramento for Fox.
One team that is not expected to factor into discussions, according to Charania, would be the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are currently limited to trading just two first-round picks, in 2029 and 2031. As of now, there has not been reporting suggesting that the Lakers are the preferred destination for Fox, despite being represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, who also represents LeBron James and Anthony Davis. According to SNY’s Ian Begley, the Brooklyn Nets view Fox as a target as well.
When a star has a specific destination in mind, it can scare off other suitors depending on the circumstances. If that destination is indeed San Antonio, other teams would need to fear Fox simply walking to the Spurs for nothing as a free agent in 2026 because San Antonio has a fairly clean balance sheet.
It is unclear at this time what exactly the Kings would look for in a Fox trade. With DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis still on the team and an owner that has been eager to push this team into contention following its 2023 playoff berth, the Kings could potentially seek a win-now package. However, if Fox is set on a single team, whether it’s San Antonio or somewhere else, Sacramento may not have the leverage to be picky.
The Sacramento Kings are reportedly open to trading their star point guard De’Aaron Fox, according to recent rumors. While no official discussions have taken place yet, sources say that the Kings are willing to entertain offers for Fox.The 23-year-old guard has been a key player for the Kings since being drafted fifth overall in 2017. He has quickly established himself as one of the top point guards in the league, averaging 25.2 points, 7.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game this season.
While the Kings have not publicly stated their intentions to trade Fox, rumors have been swirling around his future with the team. Some reports suggest that Fox is open to a trade and has a preferred landing spot in mind – a team in the Western Conference that is in playoff contention.
As the trade deadline approaches, it will be interesting to see if any serious discussions take place regarding Fox’s future with the Kings. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

Kings Open to Trading De’Aaron Fox Ahead of NBA Trade Deadline
A season filled with turmoil in Sacramento only got worse on Tuesday, as ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Kings are open to moving their franchise player ahead of February’s trade deadline.
On Tuesday, Charania reported the Kings are “expected to open up talks to potentially deal All-Star De’Aaron Fox ahead of Feb. 6 trade deadline.” Additionally the NBA insider notes the point guard will have ” plenty of suitors, but it’s believed that Fox has a target destination in mind ahead of 2026 free agency.”
Fox was drafted by Sacramento with the fifth pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He’s grown into an All-Star point guard while with the Kings, and his partnership with Domantas Sabonis helped break the Kings’ playoff drought in 2022-23. This year has been tougher, though, as the organization fired head coach Mike Brown after a rough start to the year. Sacramento is 24-22 through Tuesday, good for 10th in the Western Conference.
Fox is averaging 25.2 points and 6.2 assists through 43 games this season. The 27-year-old has one more year left on his $163 million contract and will enter free agency in 2026. There should be a ton of interest in Fox from teams in need of an electric lead guard.
The Sacramento Kings are reportedly open to trading star point guard De’Aaron Fox ahead of the NBA trade deadline. Sources within the organization have indicated that they are willing to listen to offers for the talented young guard, who has been a key piece of the Kings’ roster for the past few seasons.Fox, who was the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, has shown flashes of brilliance during his time in Sacramento, but the team has struggled to build a winning roster around him. With the Kings currently sitting near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, it appears that they are open to exploring all options in order to shake things up and improve their chances of success.
Several teams around the league are said to be interested in acquiring Fox, who is known for his blazing speed and playmaking ability. It remains to be seen what kind of package the Kings would be looking for in exchange for the 24-year-old guard, but it’s clear that they are willing to entertain offers in the hopes of finding a deal that will benefit the team in the long run.
As the NBA trade deadline approaches, all eyes will be on Sacramento to see if they ultimately decide to move on from De’Aaron Fox and reshape their roster in pursuit of a brighter future. Stay tuned for more updates as the situation continues to develop.

Sources – Kings to open talks for potential De’Aaron Fox trade
The Sacramento Kings are expected to open up talks for a potential De’Aaron Fox trade ahead of the Feb. 6 deadline, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday.
Fox, 27, has one year left on his contract before he hits free agency in the summer of 2026.
There will be plenty of suitors for Fox, who made an All-NBA team in 2022-23, but it’s believed that the Kings point guard has a target destination in mind ahead of his free agency, sources said.
The Kings fired head coach Mike Brown last month after the team appeared to be falling short of expectations. Since then, the Kings have won 11 of their last 15 games under interim coach Doug Christie.
Sacramento enters Tuesday night’s games one loss up from the Golden State Warriors for the final play-in spot in the Western Conference.
Fox, in his eighth season in the league, is averaging 25.2 points and 6.2 assists while shooting 46.8% from the field.
Sources have indicated that the Sacramento Kings are open to discussing potential trade options for star point guard De’Aaron Fox. The Kings have reportedly reached out to multiple teams to gauge interest in a potential deal.Fox, who is considered one of the top young point guards in the league, has been the subject of trade rumors in recent weeks. The Kings are said to be considering all options in order to improve their roster and build for the future.
While it remains to be seen whether a trade will ultimately come to fruition, the Kings are actively exploring their options and are open to moving Fox if the right deal presents itself.

Kings Expected To Entertain Trading De’Aaron Fox
The Kings are expected to open up discussions about the possibility of moving De’Aaron Fox ahead of next Thursday’s trade deadline, sources tell Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link).
According to Charania, there will likely be many teams with interest in Fox, though there’s a belief that the star guard – who can become a free agent in 2026 – is targeting a specific destination.
Sam Amick of The Athletic (Twitter link) confirms that piece of intel, adding that Fox has “continued to signal a lack of interest” in signing a contract extension with Sacramento. NBA insider Chris Haynes (Twitter link) also hears that the 27-year-old is “zeroed in” on a specific team and says other potential suitors will be discouraged from acquiring him.
The timing of the news is interesting, given that the Kings have played their best basketball of the season over the past month, following the dismissal of head coach Mike Brown. Sacramento had a 13-19 record as of December 30, but has since climbed to 24-22 by winning 11 of its past 14 games under new coach Doug Christie.
Still, Fox’s contract situation in Sacramento is tenuous. He turned down a three-year, maximum-salary extension offer during the 2024 offseason, ostensibly because he’d have the opportunity to earn a more lucrative deal during the summer of 2025 — at that time, he’d be eligible for a four-year max deal or, if he earns All-NBA honors this season, a five-year super-max extension.
Fox subsequently spoke in both October and December about not wanting to commit long-term to Sacramento unless he was sure the team was able to “compete at a high level” and wasn’t just “fighting for a playoff spot.” Even after their recent surge, the Kings fall into that latter category. They currently hold the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference.
Reports in recent weeks have indicated that the Kings continue to seek out upgrades for their roster in the hopes of improving their playoff chances. Players like Nets forward Cameron Johnson and Jazz big man John Collins have been most frequently mentioned as potential targets.
However, the Kings may be reluctant to give up future assets for supplemental pieces if they’re not confident about their ability to retain Fox beyond his current contract and uncertain whether those potential additions would help convince him to stay.
More to come…
According to recent reports, the Sacramento Kings are expected to entertain trading their star point guard De’Aaron Fox this offseason. Despite being a key player for the team, the Kings are reportedly open to exploring all options in order to improve their roster and potentially shake things up.Fox, who has been with the Kings since being drafted fifth overall in 2017, has shown immense talent and potential on the court. However, with the team struggling to make a significant impact in the Western Conference, it seems like management is willing to consider moving on from the young guard in search of a new direction.
Several teams are said to be interested in acquiring Fox, who is known for his speed, playmaking ability, and scoring prowess. It remains to be seen what kind of package the Kings would be looking for in exchange for the 23-year-old guard, but it’s clear that they are willing to listen to offers.
It will be interesting to see how this situation develops in the coming weeks and if De’Aaron Fox will indeed be wearing a different jersey next season. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
