  • ‘XO Kitty’ Already Dethroned In Netflix’s Top 10 List By A New Show

Well, that didn’t last too long. Despite arriving just four days ago, season 2 of XO Kitty has already been unseated in Netflix’s Top 10 list by the show it originally dethroned. That would be American Primeval, the brutal miniseries that has performed extremely well on Netflix since it was released all the way back on January 9, making it the top-performing new Netflix series of 2025 (I’m not yet sure how it performs against the last couple weeks of Squid Game season 2, but we should know soon).

I would not stress about XO Kitty returning for season 3. It debuted at #1 and is a relatively cheap show to make, something Netflix always likes to see. Netflix also really loves its “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” cinematic universe which now has three films and two seasons of this show. The last To All the Boys movie is supposed to be “final” installment, but who knows how many other series or films it might spawn. I didn’t actually know this, but XO Kitty is the first TV series to be spun out of an original Netflix movie, rather than just more sequels. So yes, I think Netflix will let it live for a while.

As for American Primeval, while it is in fact a miniseries, its creator has been pretty vocal about wanting to do a prequel based on its lead, Taylor Kitsch’s Isaac. Here’s what Peter Berg said about it.

“We’re talking about it right now. Good pick (of an Isaac prequel). That’s the way we’d go if we do it, and I don’t know if we will, but that would be the way we would go.”

He goes on to dismiss that they would do anything other than a prequel, and given how the original American Primeval has performed, I would not be surprised if the prequel was greenlit in short order. This is a surprisingly high viewership series for them.

The rest of the list has Squid Game planted at #3, and I do not believe it has fallen out of the top 5 since its Christmas release as it attempts to catch season 1 and become the most viewed season of a Netflix original series in history. We’ll get a numbers update soon. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is still performing well at #5, and I believe it’s the best performing Walking Dead show we’ve ever seen on Netflix. My wife’s favorite show, Younger, is also doing well, now at #6, and there are seven full seasons to watch. It is good actually!

So, we’ll see how long American Primeval can stay on top here this time, but new shows are coming, so it may not have that long. We’ll look for spin-off announcements and then season 3 for XO Kitty soon here, I imagine.

Fans of the hit Netflix show “XO Kitty” were shocked to see it dethroned from the top spot on the streaming platform’s Top 10 list by a new show. Despite its popularity and loyal fan base, it seems that a new contender has stolen the spotlight.

The new show, which has yet to be named, has quickly captured the hearts of viewers with its captivating storyline and compelling characters. While “XO Kitty” may have been the reigning champion for weeks, it seems that its time in the spotlight has come to an end.

Fans of “XO Kitty” are disappointed to see their favorite show fall from the top spot, but are excited to see what the new show has in store. Will it be able to maintain its position at the top of the Top 10 list, or will “XO Kitty” make a comeback and reclaim its throne? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, viewers are encouraged to check out the new show and see what all the buzz is about. Who knows, it may just become the next big hit on Netflix!

  • Steph Curry invites superfan ‘Grandma Kitty’ to Warriors vs. Nets in March

One of the biggest fans of Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors will see her favorite team in person in March.

Kitty Ford, also known as “Grandma Kitty,” went viral last week when a TikTok of her Warriors fandom surfaced.

Grandma Kitty has a notebook keeping track of Curry’s games, performances and opponents. She watches games on League Pass, but Curry revealed she won’t need to do that on March 6.

The four-time NBA champion personally invited Grandma Kitty to the Warriors game against the Brooklyn Nets in a video posted Sunday.

“We’d love to have you and bring your book,” Curry said. “You don’t have to watch on League Pass, you can come watch in person.”

The invite excited Grandma Kitty, who began clapping and repeating, “Wow.”

“Steph Curry, I can’t believe it,” she said.

In a separate TikTok video, Grandma Kitty showed off her Curry memorabilia, including a bobblehead and magazine cover.

The magazine had a Curry quote that read: “I hope I inspire people all around the world to just be themselves, be humble, and be grateful for all the blessings in your life.” Grandma Kitty pointed that out, explaining: “This is why I like him so.”

Curry is averaging 23 points, 6.2 assists and 5 rebounds per game. The Warriors face the Boston Celtics at home on Monday (5 p.m. ET on TNT). Curry is listed as questionable for the matchup.

Steph Curry, the star player of the Golden State Warriors, has made one superfan’s dream come true by inviting her to attend a game in March. Known as ‘Grandma Kitty’ on social media, the devoted fan has been a loyal supporter of Curry and the Warriors for years.

Curry reached out to Grandma Kitty on social media, expressing his gratitude for her unwavering support and inviting her to join him at the Warriors’ upcoming game against the Brooklyn Nets. The game is set to take place in March at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

Grandma Kitty, who is known for her colorful and enthusiastic posts about the Warriors, was overjoyed by the invite. She took to social media to share her excitement and gratitude, thanking Curry for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Fans of both Curry and Grandma Kitty are thrilled to see this heartwarming gesture, and many are looking forward to seeing the superfan cheering on her favorite team alongside her idol. It just goes to show that sometimes, dreams really do come true in the world of sports.

  • How XO, Kitty Grew Up for Season 2 on Netflix

When Anna Cathcart booked the first “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” movie in July 2017 as a teenager, she never imagine she’d still be playing the character seven years later at 21 years old.

But as evident by the return of “XO, Kitty” Season 2 this week, that’s exactly what happened for both the actress and the show’s titular lead, Kitty Song Covey. Ahead of the Netflix spinoff series’ season premiere on Thursday, Cathcart and showrunner Jessica O’Toole opened up to TheWrap about returning to South Korea and finally getting to film their teen romantic dramedy without COVID protocols as they did in Season 1.

“It’s just surreal to me that I get to continue this character’s story in a way that I never would have expected when I first started working on the movies. I mean, the movie originally was just one, it wasn’t even three movies,” Cathcart told TheWrap. “So to be on this journey now, almost eight years later in the same character but in a brand new way is something I don’t think I’ll ever be able to comprehend.”

“My feeling about Season 2 is that I wanted to kick everything up a notch, and I think the actors rose to that occasion,” O’Toole added. “We happen to do some big stuff, it’s a big season and, largely because we didn’t have to worry about COVID, we could do a lot more and see more of Korea, see more of Seoul, and just expand Kitty’s world, too.”

“XO, Kitty” Season 1 premiered in May 2023 with a young cast that saw Kitty continue her match-making hijinks amongst her new Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS) classmates. And while Cathcart was already an established actor at that point, that wasn’t the case for all of her co-stars.

“Everyone matured. Some of our actors were pretty brand new to the business [in Season 1]. Everyone just felt a little more grown up,” O’Toole explained. “And it’s funny, because the first season we were shooting during COVID, so it was a very different experience — you’re wearing masks, you’re all corralled, you’re not together outside of work. So this just felt like getting to know them a lot better, feeling really proud and seeing how far a lot of them had come.”

“Truly, we got a chance to really explore Seoul the way it should be explored — getting to go do things without the fear that we weren’t allowed to or trying to stay as safe as possible during Season 1,” Cathcart agreed. “This season, just having that whole hurdle lifted from the entire experience made a big difference. We explored nightlife a lot more, which was so fun. Seoul was such an amazing, bustling city that truly never sleeps. It was blowing our minds that things close at like 8 a.m. And then during shooting as well, having that stress removed, it showed us how much of an impact it really had on Season 1 and was just a much smoother experience in so many ways.”

“This time getting to come back for a second season, it was almost like we get a chance to really grab the wheel this time and have the sense of confidence that we know how to do this,” she continued. “And we’re two years older. We’ve had so many life experiences since the first season and that was an amazing opportunity to kind of rebrand what this can look like for me in my own, personal way.”

While the first three movies in the film franchise based on Jenny Han’s hit book series — 2018’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” 2020’s “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You” and 2021’s “To All the Boys: Always and Forever” — were grounded by Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, Cathcart’s younger sister Kitty proved to be a worthy lead to both fans and Netflix.

“Sometimes you could see how there’s those supporting characters who get a spinoff and it’s like, you realize they’re better in small doses or whatever. But I think with Kitty that’s just not the case at all and, in large part, that’s because of [Anna] as an actress,” O’Toole gushed.

So what exactly is that special sauce that makes the spinoff such a fun watch for viewers, regardless of their age demographic?

“Something that’s special about ‘XO, Kitty’ is a lot of people can find something they relate to in it, no matter what stage of life you’re in. I think the overall theme of our show is pretty much that growing up is messy, love is messy, figuring out who you are can be messy, and that’s what makes it all beautiful,” Cathcart said. “No matter who you are, you can relate to that in some sense for sure, because I don’t think anyone has escaped the messiness of growing up and the messiness of just being human and feeling big feelings.”

“I think that’s something that’s really cool to see on screen, especially in a show that has so much diversity and has a lot of different forms of representation in ethnicity, but also in sexuality,” she continued. “All of the diversity that shows up attracts a lot of new viewers as well who maybe haven’t seen the movies, but just love these characters and love their stories for who they are. Season 2 explores that even deeper, so I’m very excited to gain, hopefully, an even wider audience and bring back all of those fans.”

“The show stands on its own for sure, but having that world to draw on only adds flavor, excitement, opportunities to get to see some of those people. There’s a sense of world-building that just comes along with having [the trilogy]. Kitty was, for me, when I watched the movies, my favorite character; for a lot of people, so it enriches the experience to have watched,” O’Toole added. “But at the same time, even if you didn’t know a single thing about the movies, you’d be getting a satisfying experience. Because we’ve got Kitty, but then we’ve got all these other characters that come from totally different worlds, who now feel lived in and feel like they’ve got their own depth and everything.”

“XO, Kitty” is just one of Netflix’s flagship series that is both set in and filmed around South Korea — alongside fellow hits “Squid Game,” “All of Us Are Dead,” “Physical: 100” and “The Devil’s Plan,” to name a few. In fact, “Kitty” even shared some soundstages with “Squid Game” Season 2, leading to the young cast getting invited to the premiere red carpet.

“It’s so cool just to see that so much Asian media is getting so much attention and is becoming so popular,” Cathcart shared. “Getting to go to the premiere with the cast as well was so fun because we’ve had pretty limited experiences or shared opportunities like that, especially in the U.S. because so many of our castmates are from all over and are so international. So that was really, really special. It was so cool to show up as a group and to celebrate another piece of amazing media.”

The series also stars Minyeong Choi, Gia Kim, Sang Heon Lee, Anthony Keyvan, Regan Aliyah, Audrey Huynh, Peter Thurnwald, Sasha Bhasin, Joshua Lee, Jocelyn Shelfo, Michael K. Lee and Philippe Lee … and you might see a familiar face or two from the original film trilogy pop up this time around.

“XO, Kitty” returns for Season 2 this Thursday on Netflix. Season 1 and all three “To All the Boys” movies are currently streaming.

  • Is Stella Bad in XO Kitty Season 2? Her True Plan Explained

Kitty Song Covey’s new roommate, Stella Cho, in XO Kitty Season 2 hides a secret that could threaten to destroy the life of a friend closest to her.

Stella (Audrey Huynh) is introduced as Kitty’s overly cheery roommate who is entering her first year at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS).

As the season progresses, not everything is what it seems as Kitty and her friends slowly unearth Stella’s dark revelations in the Netflix series.

Is Stella Evil in XO Kitty Season 2?

Warning – The rest of this article contains spoilers for XO Kitty Season 2.

In Season 2, Episode 1 (read more about the full cast of XO Kitty Season 2), Stella tells Kitty (and the viewers) that she became part of KISS due to an exchange program through her church and was originally from Pepper Pike, Ohio.

While Stella seems like a candidate to become one of Kitty’s best friends in the brand-new episodes, Season 2’s premiere ends with the big reveal that Stella’s real name is Esther.

Stella even tells her parents on the other end of the line that “there is no more Esther,” and she is attending KISS to “get what [she] deserves:”

“For the last time, my name is Stella. There is no more Esther. And I do have to do this. I’m here to get what I deserve. Now leave me alone.”

In the following episodes, Stella shows her true colors by creating more drama for Kitty and using her as a distraction so that she can progress on her evil scheme.

She exposes Kitty’s goodbye letter to Yuri, in which she talks about her real feelings for her. This leads to a heartbreaking chain of events: Yuri and Juliana’s breakup and Praveena’s failure to pursue Kitty in a potential relationship.

    What Is Stella’s Real Plan?

Sang Heon Lee as Min Ho & Audrey Huynh as Stella in XO Kitty Season 2
Sang Heon Lee & Audrey Huynh

It turns out that Stella plans to get close to Min Ho (who may or may not be the one who ends up with Kitty in Season 2) to destroy the reputation of his famous dad, Young Moon, a talent manager who takes inspiration from Simon Cowell.

Stella exposes Kitty’s goodbye letter to Yuri during their skiing weekend at Min Ho’s dad’s cabin, distracting her friends so that she can snoop around and find dirt from his father to reveal who he truly is.

The first wave of Stella’s plan includes leaking documents exposing Mr. Moon’s harsh behavior, calling them “MoonLeaks.”

Too bad for Stella, Kitty becomes suspicious after the whole letter fiasco at the cabin.

As Min Ho and Stella get closer, Kitty also progresses in learning the truth.

She finds out that Stella is actually Esther, who auditioned for one of Mr. Moon’s previous talent shows, Rising Stars with Young Moon

Min Ho’s dad embarrassed her in front of a worldwide audience, and she even became a famous meme centered around her final words in the audition: “But beauty was supposed to come from within.”

Although Kitty initially tries to warn Min Ho, he is already blinded by his feelings for Stella.

Stella’s plan also involves planting a recording device (disguised as a gift) in Mr. Moon’s office, where she finds out that Min Ho’s brother, Joon Ho, has a pregnant girlfriend who is also one of his backup dancers.

    So, Did Stella Win?

Stella later comes clean to Min Ho and threatens to blame Kitty for everything she did, meaning that Min Ho has no choice but to play along.

Stella’s plan ultimately changes at the last minute after she decides to cheat and win Mr. Moon’s Talent Show at the end of the semester instead (with Min Ho’s help) since a recording contract is up for grabs for the winner.

Despite that, Dae later realizes what Stella is doing to his best friend, and he works with Kitty and the others to expose who she truly is.

Min Ho tells the truth to his father, and his brother, Joon Ho, later reveals to the public that he is in love with his pregnant girlfriend.

This revelation means that Stella can no longer reveal anything about Min Ho’s family, and she is later arrested and deported back to Ohio.

All episodes of XO Kitty Season 2 are streaming on Netflix. Netflix has another coming-of-age drama in the vein of XO KittyHeartstopper (read more about the Season 3 cast here).

In XO Kitty Season 2, fans have been left wondering if Stella is truly as bad as she seems. Throughout the season, Stella has been portrayed as a conniving and manipulative character, constantly causing trouble for the other characters. But is there more to Stella’s character than meets the eye?

Many fans have speculated that Stella may have a hidden agenda, one that goes beyond just causing chaos for the sake of it. Some believe that Stella’s true plan may be to take down the other characters and assert her dominance in the Kitty Kingdom.

One theory suggests that Stella may be working with a mysterious figure behind the scenes, pulling the strings and manipulating events to her advantage. This would explain her seemingly calculated actions and her ability to always stay one step ahead of the other characters.

Others have proposed that Stella may have a tragic backstory that has shaped her into the character she is today. Perhaps she has been hurt in the past and is now seeking revenge on those she believes wronged her.

Whatever the case may be, one thing is for certain – Stella is a complex and intriguing character whose true motives have yet to be fully revealed. As XO Kitty Season 2 continues to unfold, fans can only speculate on what Stella’s true plan may be and how it will impact the other characters in the Kitty Kingdom.

  • Who does Kitty end up with?

In XO, Kitty season 2, Kitty “Chaos Queen” Song Covey’s sophomore year at the Korean Independent School of Seoul is once again replete with dizzying love triangles.

The To All the Boys spinoff starring Anna Cathcart as the titular bubbly younger Covey sister returned to Netflix on Thursday, and let’s just say last season’s romances don’t hold a candle to the drama and indecisions unfolding this time around. The big question that lingered in the season 1 finale was, no doubt: Who does Kitty end up with? Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee)? Yuri (Gia Kim)? Dae (Minyeong Cho)?

Season 2 opens with Kitty single and ready to mingle, but alas, it also concludes with the same big question: Who does Kitty end up with? Min Ho? Yuri? Dae? A new love interest?

The answer, in short: Kitty doesn’t end up with anyone. At least… we don’t think? Let’s get into it.

Sang Heon Lee and Anna Cathcart in ‘XO, Kitty’ season 2.

    Netflix

Though Kitty was expelled last season for rooming with the boys, she returns after Yuri places a call to the principal, who just so happens to be her mother. Swearing off romance and pledging to turn her attention to her studies and learning more about her late mother, however, is no easy feat. Kitty still has feelings for Yuri, who is very much in love with her girlfriend, Juliana (Regan Aliyah). Meanwhile, a new love interest for Kitty enters the chat: Praveena (Sasha Bhasin). But that ultimately proves short-lived, as Kitty’s feelings for Yuri are undeniable.

Sign up for Entertainment Weekly‘s free daily newsletter to get breaking TV news, exclusive first looks, recaps, reviews, interviews with your favorite stars, and more.

Kitty and Yuri shippers receive a glimmer of hope in season 2 as the two kiss (!) after watching a capsule video made by their respective moms during their time at the school. A stunned Min Ho — who, by the way, still has feelings for Kitty after declaring his love for her on the plane before ultimately backtracking — even walks in on the two. But Yuri is committed to making it work with Juliana, much to the heartbreak of Kitty.

As for Min Ho, he avoids Kitty for the first half of the season to push aside his feelings — namely, after overhearing Dae confide that he still has feelings for his ex. (Again, dizzying.) Min Ho rebounds with new exchange student Stella Cho (Audrey Huynh), who we learn is not who she claimed to be and is purely intent on revenge against Min Ho’s father, the biggest talent manager in Asia, after he publicly humiliated her years ago.

It’s through Min Ho’s relationship with Stella that Kitty realizes, too, that she has feelings for Min Ho. (Again, dizzying.) A big support system to Kitty this season, Min Ho helps her efforts to reconnect her grandmother and great-aunt, who have long been estranged. (And surprise! Noah Centineo isn’t the only big cameo this season: Janel Parrish reprises her role as big sister Margot, traveling to Korea in the final episodes.) Season 2 concludes with Kitty set on telling Min Ho how she feels about him — but he declares a break from relationships, saying that he’ll join his father and his K-Pop superstar brother on their summer tour.

Perhaps the timing isn’t right after all, Kitty concludes in her inner monologue. But as Min Ho prepares to get into his car to leave, Kitty yelps out, “Wait! Can I join you?” And the season ends there. Does Kitty end up with Min Ho? That’s a question only a potential season 3 could answer.

In the popular TV show “Kitty’s Love Life,” fans have been eagerly waiting to see who Kitty will ultimately end up with. Will it be the charming and mysterious Tom, who has captured her heart from the very beginning? Or will it be the sweet and dependable Jack, who has always been there for her through thick and thin?

As the season finale approaches, tensions are running high as viewers anxiously await the final decision. Will Kitty follow her heart or choose the safe option? Tune in to find out who Kitty ultimately chooses as her happily ever after!

  • ‘XO, Kitty’ star Anthony Keyvan on life after ‘Love, Victor’

Anthony Keyvan never set out to become a beacon of representation for queer Iranian and Filipino Americans. But with his recent roles as a romantic interest of the title gay protagonist in Hulu’s “Love, Victor” and as an all-American jock at an international Korean school in Netflix’s “XO, Kitty,” Keyvan, 24, is part of the next generation of actors looking to make television representation more expansive.

“I feel I’ve won the lottery in a lot of way,” Keyvan, who has been acting for the better part of the last two decades, said of viewers’ responses to his diverse characters. “It’s a responsibility I will take time and time again, because I know that it has impacted people in such a positive way.”

“XO, Kitty,” which returns to Netflix on Thursday for its sophomore season, is a spinoff of writer Jenny Han’s acclaimed “To All the Boys” film trilogy. The series follows the youngest Covey sister, teen matchmaker Kitty (Anna Cathcart), as she attends the fictional Korean International School of Seoul in an attempt to reconnect with her late mother’s roots. Keyvan plays Quincy “Q” Shabazian, an openly gay star track athlete and fellow American exchange student who becomes Kitty’s best friend and closest confidant.

Much like the original “To All the Boys” films, “XO, Kitty” features a young Asian American woman as the romantic lead. But in expanding her fictional universe, Han wanted to further diversify the spinoff by introducing characters of different ethnicities and sexualities. By the end of the first season, Kitty, who finds herself having feelings for her ex-boyfriend and two of their classmates, realizes she is bisexual. The second installment finds Kitty navigating her increasingly complicated love life at school — largely with the help of Q — while she tracks down her estranged extended family in South Korea.

Whereas other coming-of-age shows starring LGBTQ characters may focus on the inherent anxiety of coming out, Keyvan said he believes “XO, Kitty,” with its emphasis on treating queerness as a nonissue, “gives hope to young queer people or questioning people that their life doesn’t have to look a certain way.”

“We’re so used to the queer experience being a very traumatic thing for people and the coming-out story being extremely traumatic, chaotic and tough to navigate. And while that is true for a lot of people, it’s refreshing to see a different take on that,” said Keyvan, whose character falls for an athletic rival in the new season. “With ‘XO, Kitty,’ queerness is normalized, and it’s not something that is looked down upon or something that you feel like you need to suppress with our characters.”

    Image: Love, Victor
Michael Cimino and Anthony Keyvan in “Love, Victor.”Greg Gayne / Hulu

Around the time he landed the role in early 2022, Keyvan sat down with then-showrunners Han and Sascha Rothchild to discuss his character’s arc. It was during that meeting that Keyvan asked the writers to make Q half-Filipino and half-Iranian like him — an idea that he said was met with immediate acceptance. But two seasons in, Keyvan said, Q, despite being considered one of the leads, is still very much “a surface-level character” who “helps push the plot forward” for other characters and has been given little to no backstory apart from a couple of family references — a pointed critique that he said he would be eager to discuss with the writers in a potential third season.

“XO, Kitty,” nevertheless, feels like a natural continuation of Keyvan’s mission to bring parts of his own identity to his work. In 2021, he rose to fame for playing Rahim, a high school student who struggles to come out to his devout Muslim parents and seeks counsel from protagonist Victor Salazar (Michael Cimino), in “Love, Victor.” (Keyvan was cast, the producers decided to make his character Iranian American.) While playing a new potential love interest to the protagonist came with its fair share of detractors, Keyvan said, playing Rahim marked the first time in his career when his work “directly impacted how people view themselves and how they walked through this world.”

“It is such an honor that I can’t even describe to you, hearing people from a Middle Eastern background or a Muslim background feeling like they are seen through a queer person on TV who looks like them,” Keyvan said, adding that, like any person his age, he likes to keep up with the various messages, comments and video edits from fans. “In a lot of these countries, it’s illegal to be gay or part of the queer community, so they have to suppress a lot of themselves all the time. And to see a character like Rahim on ‘Love, Victor’ being so outwardly himself and so unapologetically himself was something that definitely resonated with a lot of people.”

For Keyvan, the fact that there is a growing appetite for more diverse stories is a sign of the changing times. As a young actor who presents as “ethnically ambiguous,” Keyvan has often been cast to play Latino or Hispanic characters — “which I am not,” he reiterated — but he “hardly” gets any auditions for mixed-race characters and instead usually gets parts labeled as “open ethnicity.”

Having a creative team that is adamant about “creating a world full of diversity and inclusion” and casting characters authentically ultimately makes a big difference in bridging that gap, Keyvan said.

“There are so many mixed people in the world, and I think it’s becoming more common now, but at least when I was auditioning for the show, there were hardly any mixed characters on television,” he said. “So it’s nice to see that not only our lead, Anna, is a mixed person playing a mixed person, but I also get to do that, as well, on the same show and it be normalized and celebrated.”

Although he harbors his own aspirations of one day being able to tell his — and his immigrant parents’ — own stories, Keyvan is acutely aware of the realities of the business. Despite the significant strides the Asian community has made in recent years, Keyvan noted that the visibility of other minority groups continues to lag in Hollywood, in large part because of the studios’ reluctance to commit fully to having diverse ensembles.

“It feels like almost a lot of times the industry does it for a few years, and they’re like, ‘OK, we represented you guys, we gave you this,’ and then they move on to the next marginalized community,” he said, noting that Latino-led shows such as “Love, Victor” and “One Day at a Time” have not been replaced with new ones. “And I worry that sometimes that this is just a little blip or a little bit of time that we get as Asian people to make our mark in the industry and then they’re going to move on to the next [group].

“I definitely think there’s still a lot more work to be done,” he added. “I feel like with this new generation of creatives coming in, I am more hopeful that we will get the equality that we deserve in this industry. I’m seeing a lot that is giving me that hope, but I guess we just have to keep working and keep talking about it.”

  • XO Kitty Season 2 Finale Explained: No Kiss, Noah Centineo, and Plenty of Family Secrets

This article contains major character or plot details.

XO, Kitty’s Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) has always been an agent of chaos. Never forget that she’s the one who mailed the letters her older sister Lara Jean had written to her crushes, sparking the events of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before film trilogy.

So it shouldn’t be a surprise that she’s managed to wreak havoc all over the Korean International School of Seoul, which she decides to attend for her junior year of high school in XO, Kitty Season 1. Despite having been kicked out after breaking one too many rules, Kitty is back in Seoul for Season 2 with a new love triangle — well, it’s more of a square or a rhombus, really — a new roommate, and new discoveries about her family heritage.

After all, the reason she wanted to follow in her late mother’s footsteps and attend KISS was to learn about her mother and her Korean family. And what are long-kept family secrets worth without a few reunions? Read on to find out more about the biggest revelations from XO, Kitty Season 2.

Noah Centineo Returns as Peter Kavinsky in XO, Kitty Season 2

Was that a Noah Centineo cameo in XO, Kitty Season 2?

While the on-screen reunion between Kitty and her pseudo-older brother Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) happens more than halfway through the season, the real-life reunion between Cathcart and Centineo actually took place on the very first day of filming Season 2.

“It was so, so fun,” Cathcart tells Tudum. Peter is the longtime boyfriend of Kitty’s middle sister, Lara Jean, so he’s been a big brother figure to Kitty since she was barely in middle school. And much like Peter to Kitty, Centineo has been a mentor of sorts to Cathcart in her own career. “It means so much to have his support. He’s just so encouraging and such an amazing role model and someone to look up to.”

Centineo happened to be in South Korea filming scenes for Season 2 of his Netflix action series The Recruit, so the timing worked out fortuitously. But, says Cathcart, “our scenes together were the very first day of shooting the entire season, so I had not been on a set in two years. I was so nervous! I was just getting back into it and that full day was with Noah — which made it more overwhelming, but also made it the best ever because I had someone to be with the whole day who I look up to so much.”

For his part, Centineo also had a blast. “Working with Anna again was amazing,” Centineo tells Tudum. “She’s so wonderfully talented, and her work ethic shows in every scene. Stepping back into the To All the Boys universe was a true joy, and I hope our incredible audience enjoys seeing Peter again as much as I did.”

Janel Parish as Margo Song Covey, Ae Yon Han as Young Ja, and Anna Cathcart as Kitty Song Covey in Season 2 of ‘XO, Kitty’.

Speaking of reunions, how does Janel Parrish come back to XO, Kitty?

Margot Song Covey (Parrish), the eldest of the three Covey sisters, shows up in the Season 2 finale alongside the girls’ halemoni (grandmother) — played by creator Jenny Han’s mother, by the way — in an unexpected Song family reunion.

Cathcart refers to Parrish as a “lifelong big sister,” so Parrish’s time on set in Korea was similar to Centineo’s. “I’m truly so grateful that I’ve gotten to work with her,” Cathcart says. “It was so fun getting to be back — be back as friends, and also to be back on-screen as sisters. It’s been so many years! I’m so glad she got to come to Korea and hang out. It was amazing.”

    Who is Simon?

Kitty’s mission in Season 1 was to learn more about her mother’s own experience in Seoul as a teenager, but her mission in Season 2 was to learn more about the mysterious Simon — a man her mother corresponded with during her own time at KISS. “When you hear about Simon, of course the assumption is that’s a boyfriend, right? Kitty assumes that, probably the audience does,” explains showrunner Jessica O’Toole. But it turns out that Simon is actually her mother’s cousin — and the full story is much more complicated than Kitty could have imagined.

When Kitty’s halemoni left South Korea and moved to the U.S., she left her own sister behind — and didn’t speak to or of her again. Kitty, and her mother before her, didn’t even realize they had cousins still living in their family’s homeland. For that older generation, “it was easier to keep secrets and it was harder to repair relationships,” says O’Toole. “Someone could move away and you wouldn’t hear from them, be able to find them.”

Before Kitty’s mom died, she was working with her cousin Simon to reunite their mothers — something Kitty wanted to finish on her mother’s behalf, and enlisted her own big sister to do so. “We know that Kitty loves romantic love — she always has, since the movies,” Cathcart says. “But there are so many types of love, including family love, and that is just as important and just as valuable to chase after and worth exploring. This season we see more of the vulnerability in that kind of love, and that also involves being brave and being courageous and putting yourself out there and getting hurt and taking the risk anyway. All of those things that I think we often attribute to romantic love also apply to family love.”

Anna Cathcart as Kitty Song Covey and Sang Heon Lee as Min Ho Moon in Season 2 of ‘XO, Kitty’.

Speaking of romantic love, why didn’t Kitty and Min Ho kiss in the XO, Kitty Season 2 finale?

O’Toole considers the feeling of longing a staple in every teen show. There’s no exception when it comes to the epic slow burn between Kitty and her enemy-turned-friend-turned-maybe lover (?!) Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee). So, while Kitty spends the season exploring her own feelings of longing for Min Ho, “longing is something that the audience also needs to do,” teases O’Toole.

That’s why, when Kitty tells Min Ho to “Wait!” before he leaves with his family for the summer, you’re desperately waiting for the pair to release their simmering tension with a kiss. After all, they did just save each other’s families. She helped him reconnect with his Simon Cowell-esque dad Young Moon (Philippe Lee) as he taught an arts course at KISS that culminated in a massive talent showcase; and Min Ho did the same by flying Margot and her halemoni to Korea on his private jet when their flight got canceled last minute. Can you say romantic? So, naturally, you’re feeling your own pangs of longing when they don’t seal it all with a kiss. But even without an “official” kiss in XO, Kitty Season 2, there are so many preludes to one that it’s simply building the anticipation.

At the Cherry Blossom Ball, when Kitty is starting to admit to herself that she’s jealous of Min Ho’s girlfriend Stella (Audrey Huynh), in walks Min Ho, dapper as ever, as Chappell Roan’s “Picture You” starts to play. With cherry blossoms exploding on the screen behind her crush, you can’t help but swoon along with Kitty (and, as O’Toole attests, everyone who edited the scene in post-production). “Those [moments] are meant to take the sting out of there not being a kiss yet,” O’Toole says. Not to mention the fact that Min Ho asks Kitty to dance, remembering how she’d sing that song in the shower off-key when they were roommates last semester. Who wouldn’t fall for a guy who remembers all those details about you? Even Peter notices that when he comes to visit. “He remembers every single word you ever said, but he still pretends to be annoyed when you talk too much. Classic,” he ribs.

Sang Heon Lee as Min Ho Moon, Anna Cathcart as Kitty Song Covey in ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 2.

So how did Kitty and Min Ho go from enemies in Season 1 to a slow burn romance in XO, Kitty Season 2?

We can’t forget that the season starts with Kitty outright rejecting Min Ho’s impulsive love confession on their flight to LA. That’s a tough pill to swallow for a guy who doesn’t really put himself out there. But, as he reminds her, Kitty can’t outright deny that she smiled when he told her. So not all hope is lost, but “we’re not ready for this quite yet,” says O’Toole.

Kitty and Min Ho shed their enemies status last season, but Season 2 was really when they started to embody the friends-to-lovers trope. Min Ho starts dating Stella, at Kitty’s behest, which takes the pressure off their own romantic intrigue a bit and allows them to genuinely become friends. “They’re having all these moments of intimacy, but they’re not romantic,” says O’Toole. “But they are.”

Take, for example, a pivotal scene in Episode 4. Stella (secretly) sabotages Min Ho’s ski cabin slumber party when she brings Kitty’s (goodbye) love letter she’d written about Yuri (Gia Kim) months prior. Yuri and Juliana (Regan Aliyah) break up after Juliana learns Kitty and Yuri kissed, and Kitty’s new sort-of girlfriend Praveena (Sasha Bhasin) calls their relationship off before it even really starts. Basically, Kitty is completely down in the dumps sitting in the hot tub when Min Ho, designer jacket and all, decides to get in to comfort his friend.

“That is an opportunity for Kitty to see that Min Ho is a really true friend and is someone who wants to show up for Kitty regardless of his feelings, regardless of his pride that she turned him down,” says Cathcart.

Later when Kitty discovers Stella isn’t who she says she is — her real name is Esther, and she came to KISS to destroy Min Ho’s dad after he embarrassed her in a singing competition years prior — it’s just in her nature to try to protect him and make sure that he’s alright. And, yes, there’s perhaps a bit of jealousy, too, which she only admits to herself later on. “It really eats [at] her, which is a very relatable thing so many people have experienced, seeing [that person] with someone else really shows you your true feelings,” says Cathcart.

Regan Aliyah as Juliana Porter, Gia Kim as Yuri Han, Anna Cathcart as Kitty Song Covey in ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 2.

So is Yuri out of the picture for Kitty at the end of XO, Kitty Season 2?

Sharing a suite with Yuri and Juliana is not exactly a dream for Kitty, who’s still harboring major feelings for Yuri at the start of the season. Juliana quickly picks up on how close the two became last semester, and her gut instincts aren’t exactly off when Yuri and Kitty steal a kiss. But Yuri quickly deems it a mistake since she’s in love with Juliana, crushing Kitty. “I know so many people are rooting for them, and I love to see that,” says Cathcart. “I do think that storyline, at least for now, she’s kind of explored that.” But the significance of what the budding of their relationship meant for Kitty changed her whole life and what she knew about her sexuality. “It’s not just about a crush — that has a lot more weight.”

Regan Aliyah as Juliana Porter, Anna Cathcart as Kitty Song Covey, Minyeong Choi as Dae Heon Kim, Anthony Keyvan as Quincy 'Q' Shabazian, Gia Kim as Yuri Han, and Joshua Hyunho Lee as Jin performing on stage in Season 2 of ‘XO, Kitty’.

Who wins the singing competition at the end of XO, Kitty Season 2?

Both Eunice (Han Bi Ryu) and Dae (Minyeong Choi) have the voices of angels, but it’s Eunice who wins the prize of opening for Min Ho’s K-pop star brother on his worldwide tour this summer. The songbirds had started dating earlier in the semester, but it fell apart after Dae underestimated her. Eunice winning the big competition instead of Dae was always the intention for O’Toole, “because it’s about his friends being there for him,” she says. “She deserves to win, and he knows that.” It’s a testament to their professionalism that they both put on stellar sets, though, since Stella tries to sabotage their performances in order to win herself. And, of course, it’s Kitty’s idea that Kitty, Q (Anthony Keyvan), his boyfriend Jin (Joshua Lee), Juliana, and Yuri fill in as Dae’s backup dancers. The cast rehearsed for weeks while they were filming other episodes. “We were like, ‘We are actually becoming a K-pop group! What is happening?’ ” says Cathcart.

Anna Cathcart as Kitty Song Covey in ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 2.

Is Kitty done with her time in Korea or does she want to come back for another semester (and potentially Season 3)?

Um, how could Kitty not want to return? “Yeah, she wants to come back,” says O’Toole. “And now that she knows she has a cousin, now that she’s got this great aunt, there you go. She’s got family there.” Plus, Principal Lee (Michael K. Lee) renewed Kitty’s scholarship, so the world is her oyster.

But things aren’t looking up for everyone at KISS when the season ends. Yuri learns that Juliana has officially moved on with Praveena, despite Juliana hearting her latest Instagram story. What’s worse: Yuri’s family assets have been frozen after a development in a class action lawsuit that Dae’s dad is a part of. Meaning? She’s broke. At least she’s got her newly discovered brother Alex (Peter Thurnwald) to help her through it all.

The highly anticipated season 2 finale of XO Kitty has left fans on the edge of their seats with plenty of drama and surprises. From the absence of a kiss between the two main characters to the introduction of Noah Centineo as a mysterious new love interest, the episode was filled with twists and turns that left viewers craving more.

One of the most talked-about moments of the finale was the lack of a romantic moment between Kitty and her long-time crush, Jake. Despite their undeniable chemistry throughout the season, the writers decided to keep things platonic between the two characters, much to the disappointment of fans who were rooting for a happily ever after.

Instead, the finale introduced a new character played by heartthrob Noah Centineo, who instantly captivated Kitty with his charm and mysterious past. His arrival in the final moments of the episode left fans wondering what his intentions are and how he will affect Kitty’s already complicated love life.

But the surprises didn’t end there. The finale also revealed a slew of family secrets that rocked Kitty’s world, from long-lost siblings to hidden scandals that threaten to tear her family apart. As the season came to a close, viewers were left with more questions than answers, setting the stage for an explosive third season.

Overall, the season 2 finale of XO Kitty was a rollercoaster of emotions, with no shortage of drama, romance, and family secrets. Fans can’t wait to see what the future holds for Kitty and her loved ones in the upcoming season, and are eagerly anticipating the next chapter in their thrilling story.

  • Will There Be An ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 3? That Cliffhanger Ending Needs Answers

Season 2 of XO, Kitty is officially streaming on Netflix, and if you’ve already powered through all eight episodes, you’re probably dying to know what’s next — especially after that romantic cliffhanger in the finale. (Spoiler alert: If you haven’t finished Season 2 yet, proceed with caution.)

XO, Kitty is a spinoff of Netflix’s beloved rom-com trilogy To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, where fans were first introduced to Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart), Lara Jean’s younger sister who set the story in motion by mailing the love letters to her crushes. Now, Kitty is on her own journey of love and self-discovery as a student at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS), while also hoping to uncover more about her late mother’s past.

Season 2 dropped on Jan. 16, and the eight-episode second chapter is packed with even more drama than the first. Kitty found herself tangled in another messy love triangle, all while navigating her queer identity and crush on her friend Yuri. On top of that, she set out to uncover clues about Simon — a mysterious guy her mom used to write to back when she was at KISS.

ForbesWhen Will ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 2 Be On Netflix? Here’s Everything To Know

Kitty eventually learns that Simon isn’t a romantic interest of her mom’s, but he’s actually her mom’s cousin. Back in the day, Kitty’s grandmother left South Korea and moved to the U.S., cutting ties with her sister and leaving behind a whole branch of their family. Neither Kitty nor her mom knew they still had cousins in South Korea. Before her mom passed away, she and Simon were working to reunite their mothers. Now, Kitty is determined to finish what her mom started, with help from her older sister, Margot Song Covey, who returns in Season 2. (There’s also a brief cameo from To All the Boys hearttrob Peter Kavinsky.)

While Kitty got major answers about her family this season, her love life? Total chaos. Things with Min Ho went from sworn enemies to a slow-burn vibe, but not without some drama. Min Ho started dating Stella, which gave him and Kitty space to become friends. That is, until Kitty discovered Stella’s real name is Esther and she’s only at KISS to ruin Min Ho’s dad for humiliating her in a singing competition years ago.

As for Yuri, she’s pretty much off the table romantically. She and Kitty shared a kiss, but Yuri quickly shut it down, calling it a mistake and confessing she’s in love with Juliana. With Yuri out of the picture, it seemed like Kitty and Min Ho were finally about to get their moment in the Season 2 finale. But nope — fans were left hanging again, leaving everyone wondering what’s next in a potential third season.

Is There Going To Be An XO, Kitty Season 3?

Netflix hasn’t renewed XO, Kitty for a third season yet. Showrunner Jessica O’Toole hinted to Tudum that Kitty’s journey at KISS is far from over, especially with everything she learned about her extended family in Season 2.

“Yeah, she wants to come back,” O’Toole told the streamer. “And now that she knows she has a cousin, now that she’s got this great aunt, there you go. She’s got family there.” Principal Lee (Michael K. Lee) also renewed Kitty’s scholarship, so she’s all set to return to KISS next year if Netflix gives O’Toole the green light.

In 2023, during the Hollywood strikes, Netflix renewed XO, Kitty for a second season less than a month after its debut. Fans might have to wait a few weeks, or possibly even months, to find out if the show will return for a third season. The streamer will likely review viewership numbers in the coming weeks. (The good news? As of Jan. 17, XO, Kitty is the No. 1 show in the U.S.)

What Could XO, Kitty Season 3 Be About?

The third season of XO, Kitty will likely follow Kitty’s senior year at KISS. The core cast will presumably return for another installment, including Kitty, Dae, Yuri, Min Ho, Q, Juliana, Alex, Madison, Professor Lee, and newcomers Praveena and Jin. However, it’s unknown whether Stella (aka Esther) will return, considering she was sent back to Ohio.

Season 3 might finally give fans the Kitty and Min Ho love story fans been waiting for. In the finale, when Kitty is about to confess her feelings, Min Ho reveals he’s sworn off relationships after his misstep with Stella and is heading out on tour with his K-pop star brother for the summer. Kitty asks if she can tag along, but the episode ends before we hear Min Ho’s answer. What could happen during their summer together, if she even goes?

When it comes to Kitty and Yuri’s future on XO, Kitty, it seems that chapter is closed — at least for now. “I know so many people are rooting for them, and I love to see that,” Cathcart told Tudum. “I do think that storyline, at least for now, she’s kind of explored that.”

What Is The XO, Kitty Season 3 Release Date?

If XO, Kitty is renewed for a third season, fans may need to wait at least one to two years for new episodes, given the time required for writing, production, and post-production. This means Season 3 could arrive on Netflix sometime in late 2026 or early 2027.

The first two seasons of XO, Kitty are streaming on Netflix. Watch the official trailer for Season 2, below.

Fans of the hit show ‘XO, Kitty’ were left with their jaws on the floor after the dramatic season 2 finale. The episode ended with a major cliffhanger, leaving viewers wondering what will happen next.

The show, which follows the life of a young woman named Kitty who navigates love, friendship, and career challenges in New York City, has become a fan favorite for its witty dialogue, relatable characters, and unexpected plot twists.

With the future of the show hanging in the balance, fans are eagerly awaiting news of a potential season 3. Will we finally get answers to the questions left unanswered at the end of season 2? Will Kitty find true love? Will she achieve her career goals? And most importantly, what will happen with that shocking reveal in the final moments of the last episode?

While there has been no official announcement yet regarding a third season, fans are holding out hope that the show will be renewed. The creators have hinted at more storylines to explore and have promised to deliver a satisfying resolution to the cliffhanger ending.

So, will there be an ‘XO, Kitty’ season 3? Only time will tell. In the meantime, fans can rewatch their favorite episodes, speculate on what might happen next, and keep their fingers crossed for more adventures with Kitty and her friends. Stay tuned for updates on the fate of our beloved show!
