  • Injured New York Knicks Center Reaches Landmark

The medical news that the New York Knicks had to report on Saturday night wasn’t all bad.

Things, in fact, started rather optimistically: before dealing with OG Anunoby’s non-contact pain that forced his departure from the second half of what became a 128-112 defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers, head coach Tom Thibodeau revealed that center Mitchell Robinson inched toward a new landmark when it comes to his return from a lasting ankle injury.

“Everything has gone very smoothly in terms of the rehab. So the next step will be the clearance for regular contact,” Thibodeau said in the lead-up to the anticipated interconference tilt, per Peter Botte of the New York Post. “The controlled contact, you know what’s coming. So you can brace yourself for it. So once you get out of that, where you’re just playing and reacting, that will be the next step. He’s pretty close.”

Robinson’s metropolitan fate has been an eternal talking point in this rollercoaster season, one where trading him and keeping him around for a seventh season in blue and orange has gained equal support. The potential loss of Anunoby’s defensive firepower may force the hand of the former party, even if Robinson stands as the Knicks’ most attractive asset on their current ledger.

While far from anything concrete, Thibodeau’s latest update is perhaps the most optimistic he has had for Robinson at any point this season. The Manhattan staple has not played since the Knicks playoff run last spring, dealing with ankle woes that ate away of his sixth metropolitan tour. Karl-Anthony Towns has taken his place in the Knicks’ starting five while Precious Achiuwa has been the top spell option.

Even with this latest landmark, however, it’s still extremely unlikely that Robinson plays before the trade deadline: the Knicks’ last two games before Feb. 6 consist of a back-to-back that begins on Monday at home against Houston (7:30 p.m. ET, MSG/NBA TV) and a Tuesday visit to Toronto.

Injured New York Knicks Center Reaches Landmark

The talented young center has been working tirelessly to get back on the court and help his team compete at the highest level. His dedication and determination have paid off, as he has reached a landmark in his recovery that signifies progress and a return to action may be on the horizon.

Knicks fans are eagerly anticipating Robinson’s return, as his presence on the court has been sorely missed. His shot-blocking ability, rebounding prowess, and overall defensive impact make him a crucial part of the team’s success.

As Robinson continues to make strides in his recovery, the Knicks and their fans can look forward to his imminent return and the boost he will provide to the team. Stay tuned for updates on Robinson’s progress and his eventual return to the court.

  • Lakers Must Target Knicks’ Mitchell Robinson after Luka Dončić Trade amid NBA Rumors | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

Regardless what happens between now and Thursday’s 3 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers already look like the big winners of trade season.

That doesn’t, however, mean their work is complete.

The arrival of Luka Dončić feels like a gift from the basketball gods—and the latest nod to Lakers’ exceptionalism—both for the cannon-ball-sized splash to L.A.’s talent pool and for what it means for the franchise’s post-LeBron James future. The Lakers have long-term clarity now, and it just so happens to come in the form of a 25-year-old prodigy who’s on track to have a career for the ages.

All of that is objectively great. What’s not so great, however, is the Anthony Davis-sized hole on the interior. And that will need addressing sooner than later.

Fortunately, the Lakers seem on top of things. They are “looking for a big man,” per Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor (h/t Posting and Toasting) and have New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson on the radar.

He’s not the only one, of course. They’ve had interest in Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler “dating back to the offseason,” per The Athletic’s Jovan Buha, who added they’ve also “long coveted” Indiana Pacers stretch big Myles Turner.

If the Lakers were solely focused on the here and now, it’d be tough to craft a compelling case for Robinson, who’s still working his way back from foot surgery last May, over Kessler and Turner, who are both playing some of the best basketball of their careers.

Yet, despite having 40-year-old LeBron James on the roster, L.A. isn’t laser-locked on the current campaign. The megadeal for Dončić made that abundantly clear. For all of his prodigious talents, he’s an awkward on-court fit with James, since both are primary playmakers who spend the bulk of their time on the ball and don’t do their best work defensively.

The Lakers looked at the bigger picture with the Davis-for-Dončić deal, bringing back a player who can, in the words of general manager Rob Pelinka “lead this franchise for years to come.”

That doesn’t mean L.A. is just punting on this season, but there won’t be the same urgency for instant-competitiveness as there was when this team was following the James-Davis duo. The Lakers can approach the deadline with more than the next few months in mind. That’s why it doesn’t make sense to fork over all the assets needed to nab Kessler, whose availability feels debatable at best, or Turner, who has unrestricted free agency awaiting him after this season.

Without a pressing time crunch, the Lakers can be judicious here and search for potential bargains. That description sure feels like it’ll fit Robinson, a difference-making above-the-rim center when healthy with a de-escalating salary.

Granted, his availability concerns are a real thing. He only eclipsed 60 appearances in one of the past four seasons and made exactly 31 appearances in half of them. He’s only helpful if he’s playing, obviously, and he’s had a hard time playing consistently.

That should be baked into his trade cost, though, and he could be a real value at the proverbial right place. He’s an explosive, powerful lob-finisher who could thrive alongside shot-creators like James and Dončić. Robinson is also an active, intimidating rim protector, which might be even more valuable to have behind James, Dončić and Austin Reaves.

A healthy Robinson would be a clean fit for this roster, both now and moving forward. And while he isn’t healthy at the moment, it sounds like he could be soon.

The Lakers have already pulled off one heist this trade season, and they should see more bargain potential in plucking Robinson out of the clearance section.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been making headlines in the NBA world recently after acquiring superstar point guard Luka Dončić in a blockbuster trade. However, amidst all the excitement surrounding the trade, there are rumors swirling that the Lakers are not done making moves just yet.

One player that the Lakers have been rumored to be targeting is New York Knicks’ rising star, Mitchell Robinson. The young center has been making a name for himself in the league with his impressive shot-blocking abilities and athleticism, and many believe he could be a perfect fit alongside Dončić in the Lakers’ lineup.

Robinson’s defensive prowess and ability to protect the rim would provide a much-needed boost to the Lakers’ defense, which has been a weak point for the team in recent seasons. Pairing him with Dončić would also give the Lakers a formidable inside-outside duo that could wreak havoc on opposing teams.

While the rumors are still just speculation at this point, it’s clear that the Lakers are looking to make a splash in the offseason and improve their roster. Keep an eye on the Lakers as they continue to make moves and potentially target Mitchell Robinson to further bolster their championship aspirations. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Amy Schumer, NY Knicks Dancers Recreate ‘Trainwreck’ Finale 10 Years Later

    Generate Key Takeaways

Amy Schumer surprised fans at Saturday’s New York Knicks game against the Los Angeles Lakers when she joined the Knicks City Dancers to recreate her “Trainwreck” finale scene 10 years after the film came out.

Schumer initially pretended to be surprised by the invitation during halftime, but it soon became apparent she was more than prepared to meet the challenge.

The dance wasn’t exactly the same as the one Schumer performed in the 2015 rom-com, but it was close — and came complete with a kick line. The group ended the dance with a coordinated pose and kisses blown towards LeBron James (who also had a part in the movie).

Schumer attended the game with cast members from her upcoming film, “Kinda Pregnant.” The actress and comedian co-wrote “Trainwreck” with Judd Apatow, and the movie also served as her feature film debut. Schumer starred as a magazine writer who doesn’t believe in monogamy until she falls in love with Aaron Conners, a sports doctor played by Bill Hader.

She performed the dance in question at the film’s end in an attempt to win her love interest once and for all.

Schumer’s “Kinda Pregnant” co-stars include Will Forte, Damon Wayans Jr., Brianne Howey and Jillian Bell. The movie is directed by Tyler Spindel and stars Schumer as Lainey, a woman who is so jealous of her friend’s pregnancy that she begins to wear a fake baby bump.

In a nostalgic and hilarious throwback, comedian Amy Schumer teamed up with the New York Knicks Dancers to recreate the iconic finale from her hit movie “Trainwreck” – 10 years later!

The original scene, which featured Schumer dancing with the Knicks Dancers during a halftime show, was a standout moment in the film and left audiences in stitches. Now, a decade later, Schumer and the dancers have reunited to pay homage to the beloved scene.

In a video posted on social media, Schumer and the dancers can be seen busting out their best moves, with Schumer donning a Knicks jersey and showing off her signature humor. The energy and chemistry between the group is palpable, and fans of the movie are sure to get a kick out of the recreation.

Schumer captioned the video with, “10 years later and we’ve still got it! Who knew the Knicks Dancers could still keep up with me? #TrainwreckReunion”

Fans of Schumer and “Trainwreck” are loving the blast from the past, with many commenting on the post with nostalgic memories of the film. The video has quickly gone viral, with fans sharing it far and wide.

  • Amy Schumer Recreates ‘Trainwreck’ Dance Scene with Knicks City Dancers

    Amy Schumer’s still got it!

As the Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the New York Knicks on Saturday, Feb. 1, the actress and comedian, 43, took the crowd at Madison Square Garden by surprise by recreating the most iconic scene from her film Trainwreck10 years after the film came out.

During halftime at the heated New York City basketball game, the Knicks City Dancers invited Schumer to the court. The cheerleading squad called the star, who initially pretended to be shocked at the gesture, out of her courtside seat with the camera and summoned her to center court, where she then flawlessly executed a dance to “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel.

The coordinated group number, which featured Schumer front and center, wasn’t exactly the same as the dance she does with the Knicks cheerleaders in Trainwreck as a gesture to her onscreen love interest Bill Hader. It was, however, similarly intensive — even including a kick line.

The quick dance ended with a group pose and Schumer blowing kisses to the crowd, which also included LeBron James, who starred in her 2015 film. It also earned her a high honor — a “rookie of the year” title — in a feature on the Knicks City Dancers’ Instagram.

And, on her Instagram, Schumer shared some clips from the dance number, as well as some shots of her hanging out courtside at the Lakers vs. Knicks game with the cast of her latest film, Kinda Pregnant, including Jillian Bell, Will Forte and Brianne Howey.

The recreation also got a big reaction from Schumer’s celebrity pals, who filled her Instagram with praise for the number. “This is ICONIC,” Olivia Munn commented on her post, and Chelsea Handler said, “YES!”

Meanwhile, Katie Couric who was at MSG for the performance, wrote, “So glad I was there to witness this! Go Amy!”

Trainwreck — which Schumer co-wrote with Judd Apatow — marked her feature film debut. The 2015 rom-com follows Amy (Schumer), a magazine writer who does not believe monogamy is realistic, as she navigates falling in love for the first time with sports doctor Aaron Conners (Hader). James, 40, plays Aaron’s best friend.

Amy ends up performing with the Knicks City Dancers in the film to win back Aaron by, in her own words, showing him that she “can work hard,” “put myself out there” and “not be afraid to fail” — a “metaphor” for their relationship in the film.

Schumer’s latest film Kinda Pregnant, meanwhile, follows the comedian as Lainy, an English teacher in Brooklyn who, jealous of her best friend Kate’s (Bell) pregnancy, decides to wear a fake baby bump — then accidentally meets her dream man Josh (Forte) and gets caught up in furthering a growing lie.

The movie, which hits Netflix on Feb. 5, is “laugh-out-loud funny and relatable,” Schumer previously told PEOPLE.

The comedian also teased at least one emotional scene with character Megan, played by Howey. “Bri and I filmed a really special intimate scene sitting on the bathroom floor,” the star told PEOPLE, “and that was the most satisfying day of shooting for me as a woman and and artist. But don’t get it twisted — you will cry-laugh watching this movie.”

Amy Schumer recently delighted fans by recreating her iconic dance scene from the hit movie “Trainwreck” with the Knicks City Dancers during a halftime show at a New York Knicks game.

The comedian and actress showed off her dance moves and comedic skills as she grooved alongside the talented dancers, bringing back memories of her hilarious performance in the film. Schumer’s infectious energy and sense of humor had the crowd cheering and laughing along with her.

Fans of Schumer and “Trainwreck” were thrilled to see her revisit the memorable dance scene, and it was a moment that certainly brought some much-needed fun and entertainment to the basketball game.

It’s clear that Schumer knows how to entertain a crowd, and this impromptu performance was just another example of her comedic talent and charisma. Here’s hoping we see more of her dance moves in the future!

  • 76ers Trade Rumors: Knicks, Celtics, Nuggets Among Teams Eyeing Guerschon Yabusele | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - JANUARY 15: Guerschon Yabusele #28 of the Philadelphia 76ers controls the ball against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on January 15, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Knicks defeated the 76ers 125-119 in overtime. Mitchell Leff/Getty Images

Guerschon Yabusele is garnering trade interest in his second stint in the NBA.

The Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Keith Pompey named Yabusele as the Philadelphia 76ers’ “most enticing trade target for opposing teams” ahead of the Feb. 6 deadline.

Pompey named the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets as teams interested in acquiring the former 2016 first-round pick.

Yabusele began his NBA career by playing two seasons with the Boston Celtics before the team waived him in the summer of 2019.

He spent several years playing professionally in China, France and Spain before the Sixers brought Yabusele back to the NBA on a one-year veteran minimum contract.

Having played his way into a starting role while averaging 10.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, Yabusele has likely out-earned his $2 million salary this season.

The Sixers likely aren’t in a position to give him a raise next season after committing to pay more than $135 million to Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey in 2025-26.

Deciding whether to take advantage of the jump in Yabusele’s value to trade him this winter could hinge on if the Sixers see themselves as a postseason contender.

Heading into Sunday with a 19-28 record, the Sixers one game back from the Chicago Bulls for the last play-in spot in the Eastern Conference.

If the Sixers decide to push for the play-in round, keeping Yabusele, who played well during a recent four-game winning streak that lifted Philadelphia closer to the playoff picture, could be key to the team’s postseason hopes.

If Philadelphia decides to sell at the deadline, however, the team could be better served by taking advantage of Yabusele’s value to a win-now team by picking up draft assets.

SNY’s Ian Begley previously reported that the Knicks had checked in with the Sixers regarding Yabusele, and that his .400 shooting on 3.9 attempted 3-pointers per game could “benefit a Knick team that wants to keep the floor spread on offense.”

The Nuggets have been in need of frontcourt depth throughout the 2024-25 season. Denver’s bench has contributed 10.2 points per game, good for 27th in the NBA, through 49 games this season. Adding Yabusele as a depth option behind Nikola Jokić could help this team gear up for a playoff run.

The Celtics added to their frontcourt depth ahead of the 2024 trade deadline by adding Xavier Tillman Sr., but Tillman’s playing time has dropped to an average of just seven minutes through 26 games so far this season. Replacing him with Yabusele could be a bench upgrade for the defending champions.

The Philadelphia 76ers have been a hot topic of discussion in recent days as rumors swirl around potential trades involving forward Guerschon Yabusele. Several teams, including the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, and Denver Nuggets, are reportedly interested in acquiring the talented young player.

Yabusele, a former first-round draft pick, has shown flashes of potential during his time with the 76ers, but has struggled to find consistent playing time on a deep roster. With the trade deadline approaching, Philadelphia may be looking to move Yabusele in exchange for assets that can help bolster their playoff push.

The Knicks, Celtics, and Nuggets are all in need of frontcourt depth and could benefit from adding a player like Yabusele to their roster. While no trade has been finalized yet, discussions are said to be ongoing and a deal could materialize in the coming days.

Stay tuned for more updates on the 76ers trade rumors involving Guerschon Yabusele, as news, scores, highlights, stats, and rumors continue to develop.

  • Is Anthony Davis Playing vs Knicks? Lakers Release Full Injury Report

The Los Angeles Lakers will be taking on the New York Knicks later today in what should be a battle between the two largest markets in the NBA. However, this game will be missing some real firepower to it.

Lakers star big man Anthony Davis remains out due to a strained abdominal muscle that he suffered earlier in the week. Los Angeles has played one full game without him so far and he will likely be re-evaluated in a week.

Without Davis, the entire gameplan of the Lakers changes, especially as they go up against the Knicks. New York has good length in the frontcourt with Karl-Anthony Towns so Los Angeles will need to figure out how to defend him.

Davis helps the Lakers out on both ends of the floor, giving them elite two-way player every time he steps on the court. Without him, players such as LeBron James, Austin Reaves, and others will need to heavily step up if they want to take down the Knicks.

Luckily for the Lakers, it seems that the other injuries on the team aren’t too serious. Both wing defender Dorian Finney-Smith and guard Gabe Vincent were listed as questionable for this game against New York. But they have both been upgraded to probable, giving good signs that they could end up suiting up for the game.

It will be all hands on deck as the Lakers try to defeat the Knicks today. New York is one of the better teams across the NBA so the Lakers will have their hands full trying to deal with them.

But playing in Madison Square Garden should get this Lakers team hyped up as it’s one of the best arenas that the sport has to offer. Players love to play there and silencing the New York crowd is one of the more fun things for opponents to do.

Even without Davis in the lineup, the Lakers have the firepower to take down the Knicks. It won’t be easy but a total team effort could get the job done.

Davis has been dealing with a lingering ankle injury that has kept him out of several recent games. While he has been making progress in his recovery, his status for the upcoming matchup against the Knicks remains uncertain.

Fans will have to wait and see whether Davis will be given the green light to play or if he will be sidelined once again. Either way, the Lakers will need to rely on their depth and teamwork to secure a victory in his absence if necessary.

  • LeBron James dominates as Lakers rip Knicks who also lose OG Anunoby to injury

The Knicks’ first loss in six games could prove doubly costly.

LeBron James recorded a triple-double Saturday night in what potentially could be his final career game at Madison Square Garden, and the Knicks couldn’t overcome an injury to two-way forward OG Anunoby as their five-game winning streak came to an end with a 128-112 loss to the Lakers.

The defeat was exacerbated by Anunoby suffering a noncontact injury and limping to the locker room with what the Knicks later termed a sprained right foot after he dropped to one knee upon receiving a pass on the perimeter 1:22 into the third quarter.

The 40-year-old James registered his 122nd career triple-double with 33 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds for the Lakers (28-19), who were without injured All-Star center Anthony Davis.

LeBron’s son, rookie Bronny James, even made his MSG debut and scored late in the game after the crowd was chanting his name.

“It speaks to who he is and his career,” Tom Thibodeau said about LeBron James before the game. “Twenty-[two] years to do it the way he’s done it, everywhere he’s been, if he’s on the team they’re a threat. So they always have a chance.

“Obviously Anthony Davis is a huge part of that, as well. But it’s just the way [James] can bring out the best, not only out of himself, but the people who are around him.”

Josh Hart had 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 against the team that drafted him in 2017 to notch his seventh triple-double of the season.

But leading scorers Jalen Brunson (17 points) and Karl-Anthony Towns (11) combined to shoot 10-for-30 from the floor for the Knicks (32-17). Precious Achiuwa contributed 15 points and 15 boards off the bench.

The Knicks’ remaining strength of schedule entering the game was the highest in the Eastern Conference, with an opponents’ combined winning percentage of .526 over the final 34 games, and tied for fourth-hardest overall in the league, according to Tankathon.

Thibodeau’s team posted a strong finish to complete January with a 9-6 record, and they already had taken care of the Kings, Grizzlies and Nuggets with a fifth straight formidable foe, the Rockets, slated to finish off the five-game homestand Monday night.

Still, James’ teams now have posted a 24-9 record in 33 career games at the Garden in the regular season in his 22-year NBA career. He also played in one playoff series against the Knicks in 2012 with the Heat.

After receiving a respectful ovation during pregame warmups, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer got to the rim right away and scored the first points of the game before adding two assists and a midrange bucket as the Lakers grabbed an early 17-10 lead.

The Knicks pulled even at 23-all on Precious Achiuwa’s three-point play, and the sides were tied 32-32 through 12 minutes.

James finished the period with 13 points and Rui Hachimura had 12 of his 21 points, while five different players netting at least five points for the Knicks, led by seven by Anunoby.

Towns’ 3-pointer gave the Knicks a short-lived two-point lead midway through the second, but former Nets forward Dorian Finney-Smith responded with back-to-back treys to put the Lakers back on top en route to a 59-54 edge at intermission.

After Anunoby departed early in the third, the Lakers pushed their cushion to nine on three free throws by Austin Reaves (27 points).

Miles McBride converted a four-point play before James answered with a triple from the corner.

Hart recorded his 10th assist with a bounce pass to Achiuwa for a dunk and buried a 30-footer at the buzzer to pull the Knicks within 91-89 entering the final period.

But the Lakers opened the fourth on a 13-4 spurt, and Gabe Vincent’s second 3-pointer of the quarter gave them 109-97 advantage with 8:10 remaining.

Hart’s transition dunk off a steal cut the deficit to seven just past the midpoint, but James sank another 3-pointer to get the Lakers’ lead back to double digits.

LeBron James dominates as Lakers rip Knicks who also lose OG Anunoby to injury

In a highly anticipated matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks, LeBron James put on a show as he led the Lakers to a dominant victory. The Lakers came out firing on all cylinders, with James showcasing his elite scoring and playmaking abilities.

Not only did James put up impressive numbers, but he also played a crucial role in getting his teammates involved and setting the tone for the game. The Lakers’ defense was also on point, stifling the Knicks’ offense and forcing turnovers.

Unfortunately for the Knicks, the night took a turn for the worse as OG Anunoby suffered a devastating injury during the game. The loss of Anunoby was a huge blow to the Knicks, as he has been a key contributor on both ends of the floor.

Despite the loss of Anunoby, the Knicks fought hard until the final buzzer, but ultimately fell short against the Lakers. The Lakers’ victory was a testament to their talent and depth, with James leading the charge and proving once again why he is considered one of the greatest players of all time.

Overall, it was a thrilling game that had fans on the edge of their seats, but in the end, it was LeBron James and the Lakers who emerged victorious.

  • Lakers’ LeBron James has triple-double at Madison Square Garden in big win over Knicks

LeBron James loves playing at Madison Square Garden, and he gave the New York fans another show on Saturday when he led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 128-112 win over the New York Knicks with a 33-point, 11-rebound, 12-assist triple-double.

This was James’ 10th triple-double of the season, which is second only to Nikola Jokic (22), and his second since turning 40, which is the most in NBA history by a 40-year-old. Furthermore, it was his fourth career triple-double at MSG, which is second only to Larry Bird (six) for the most by a visiting player.

“It’s the mecca of basketball, the greatest arena in the world,” James said during his post-game interview. “Seen so many athletes come here and play the game of basketball, seen so many entertainers come here and rock the house, so many performers, and I’ve been blessed in my 22 years to be a part of this history in this building.”

James scored a driving layup for the first basket of the game, and neither he nor the Lakers looked back. They led for the majority of the night before pulling away late in the fourth quarter for a comfortable win. James shot 14 of 26 from the field, and while he did most of his work in the paint, he also made three 3-pointers, including a ridiculous fadeaway off one leg.

In the process, he became the seventh player in league history to make 2,500 career 3s, joining Steph Curry, James Harden, Ray Allen, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson and Reggie Miller.

“I have no idea how I’m still doing this, Lisa,” James told ABC’s Lisa Salter after the win. “Man above’s given me some great gifts, I’m trying to take full advantage of it. I put all the work, all the dedication into the game and it’s given me so much. But I have no idea how I’m still doing this at this level.”

With the victory, the Lakers continued their mid-season hot streak. They’ve now won eight of their last 10 to improve to 28-19 on the season, which is good for fifth place in the crowded Western Conference. All of a sudden, they’re just one game back of the Denver Nuggets for a top-four seed, which would come with homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

In a dominating performance at Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar LeBron James recorded a triple-double to lead his team to a big win over the New York Knicks.

LeBron was firing on all cylinders, finishing the game with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. His impressive stat line helped propel the Lakers to a 118-108 victory over the Knicks.

The win showcased LeBron’s versatility and leadership on the court, as he controlled the game and made plays for his teammates throughout the night. His performance left fans in awe and solidified his status as one of the greatest players in NBA history.

The Lakers’ victory at the iconic Madison Square Garden was a statement win for the team and further solidified their position as a top contender in the league. With LeBron leading the way, the Lakers continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA.

  • Starting 5: Surging Knicks and Lakers meet tonight on ABC

Jalen Brunson and LeBron James were each named starters for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game.

SURGING SQUADS MEET ON ABC: KNICKS vs. LAKERS TONIGHT

One game back of the Nuggets for 4th place in the West and one win shy of their first 8-2 stretch of the season, the Lakers enter Saturday playing some of their best ball of 2024-25.

The Knicks ride into Saturday on a five-game heater, just 1.5 games back of the Celtics for 2nd-place in the East – a spot Boston has held since October.

Tonight on ABC those two hot streaks will collide at MSG (8:30 ET).

Big Apple Buckets: In their last three outings, the Knicks have totaled 408 points (122, 143, 143) – the most across a three-game stretch in franchise history.

The catalysts? Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns – the first Knicks to both be named All-Star starters in the same season since Walt Frazier & Earl Monroe (1974-75).

    • Combining for 50.5 ppg, Brunson (25.9) and Towns (24.6) are on pace to become the first Knicks tandem to average 50+ points in a season since Willie Naulls and Richie Guerin in 1961-62
    • Their Key To Success? Operating inside, as Brunson ranks 2nd in the NBA in drives this season (18.8 per game) and 4th in ppg off drives (11.9)
    • KAT, meanwhile, ranks 9th in points in the paint with 13.0 ppg – the most since his second NBA season
    • The Result? Closer – and cleaner – looks, as New York ranks 4th in made 2-point field goals (30.6) and 2nd in 2-point FG% (57.1)

While Brunson and Towns lead the charge, the Knicks’ potent offense is equally fueled by their relentless supporting cast, which thrives on turning hustle plays into hard-earned points.

    • Offense To Defense: New York ranks 24th in pace but capitalizes on its opportunities to run better than almost anybody, ranking 3rd in ppg off turnovers (20.0)
    • Creating Chaos: Those caused turnovers stem from three elite defenders – Josh Hart, OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges – who lead the team in steals, respectively
    • “I think we’re at our best when we’re getting turnovers,” said KAT earlier this week. “And we’re having that translate to our offense.”

New York’s starting 5 of Brunson, Bridges, Hart, Anunoby and Towns leads all five-man units in scoring with 47.7 ppg when they’re all on the floor together (min 5 GP). Many of those points come from extra possessions earned by Hart.

    • All Heart: Hart (listed as questionable for tonight) shines on the glass, ranking 2nd in offensive rebounds among guards (105), resulting in 14.3 second-chance ppg for New York
    • All Effort: He’s also recovered 57 loose balls this season, 12 more than the next closest player
    • All-Around Results: Hart entered 2024-25 with six career triple-doubles. Through 47 games this season, he has six more. In those outings, the Knicks are 6-0
    • “I think Josh Hart is the heart and soul of this team,” said Towns earlier this week. “There’s so much more that he does that doesn’t come up on the stat sheet.”

LEBRON TAKES CENTER STAGE AT MSG

For the Lakers, who will be without All-Star center Anthony Davis (abdomen), L.A. will look to a familiar face to lead the way.

One who has done some of his best work at The World’s Most Famous Arena.

For two decades now, NBA all-time leading scorer LeBron James has delivered at MSG, leaving fans of both teams in awe.

Can he deliver again tonight to help keep the Lakers’ hot streak going?

    • The King Of MSG: In 30 career regular-season games at “The Mecca,” James has averaged 28.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 7.4 assists
    • No other player in NBA history, whether playing for the Knicks or an opponent, has averages of 28/6/6 at MSG
    • James has done it over the course of 21 seasons

Alongside his unprecedented averages at the Garden is a 22-8 record and totals across the board that showcase his legendary all-around game.

And LeBron’s MSG legacy isn’t just about numbers — it’s built on nearly a quarter century of show-stopping moments, from 50-pieces to soaring tomahawks.

Before he takes the floor tonight (8:30 ET, ABC), let’s relive some of his most iconic plays at one of basketball’s most iconic venues.

2009: One year after hanging 50 at MSG, a 24-year-old LeBron took it up a notch, dropping 52 with his raw athleticism on full display.

2013: At the peak of his powers, James submits a dagger vs. New York with a vintage steal and slam. The hangtime, the force, the flair…

2015: And how about breaking down guards before flying up and around bigs for a casual double-clutch finish?

In his latest chapter at the World’s Most Famous Arena, what will the King have in store?

The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers are set to face off tonight in a highly anticipated matchup that will be broadcast on ABC. Both teams are currently on hot streaks, with the Knicks winning six of their last seven games and the Lakers winning nine of their last ten.

The Knicks, led by All-Star forward Julius Randle, have been one of the biggest surprises of the season so far. Randle has been playing at an MVP level, averaging 23.2 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game. The Knicks have also been getting strong contributions from RJ Barrett, Derrick Rose, and Immanuel Quickley.

On the other side, the Lakers have been dealing with injuries to key players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but have managed to stay afloat thanks to the play of role players like Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell. With James expected to return soon, the Lakers will be looking to build on their recent success and make a push for the top spot in the Western Conference.

Tonight’s game promises to be an exciting and competitive battle between two of the hottest teams in the league. Make sure to tune in to ABC at 8:00 PM ET to catch all the action!
