Indiana Hoosiers vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The full Big Ten portion of Indiana’s (10-3, 1-1) schedule begins tonight against Rutgers in the friendly confines of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers defeated Minnesota at home before losing to Nebraska on the road in the December conference stretch. Freshmen Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey are projected top picks in the 2025 NBA Draft, but the Scarlet Knights are only 8-5.

Despite being 10-3, Indiana’s season feels on the brink. The Hoosiers enter the Big Ten season without a Quad 1 victory, and BartTorvik.com only gives the Hoosiers a 10.4% chance of making the NCAA Tournament. Tonight’s game is in the Quad 3 category. The next three games are important for the Hoosiers before they start an 11-game gauntlet. BartTorvik.com projects Indiana underdogs in ten games, plus a toss-up against Purdue at home.

Here is a closer look at what the Hoosiers face tonight: the television information, betting line, projections, player details, schemes, and focal points.

The Indiana Hoosiers and Rutgers Scarlet Knights are set to face off in an exciting college basketball matchup. Both teams are looking to secure a crucial win in this Big Ten showdown.

The Montreal Canadiens head to Vegas on a two-game winning and Cole Caulfield is a big reason the Habs were able to sweep the back-to-back in Florida. Find out why Ryan Gilbert is backing Caufield to get on the scoresheet yet again.

The Montreal Canadiens have been red-hot since coming out of the holiday break. They suffered a 5-4 loss in Columbus to end a three-game winning streak going into the holiday, and have come out of it with back-to-back wins in the Sunshine State. They shut out the Panthers 4-0 on Saturday before a 5-2 win in Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Cole Caufield leads the team with 18 goals and is right behind Nick Suzuki with 33 points.

Our top Canadiens vs. Golden Knights predictions and NHL picks are expecting the scoring winger to stay hot on Tuesday, December 31st.

    Canadiens vs Golden Knights prediction

    My Canadiens pick
    Cole Caufield 1+ point (-115 at BET99)

    My Canadiens analysis

Cole Caufield is nearly a point-per-game player this season for the Montreal Canadiens with 33 points in 36 games.

He was held off the scoresheet in Tampa Bay on Sunday but has been fairly consistent over the past month-plus. In fact, Caufield hasn’t gone two games without a point since early November. Starting with his two-goal game on November 11th, Caufield has recorded a point in 14 of 19 games. He’s picked up 20 points in that span with a point in all but one road game.

Montreal’s offense has been hot recently with at least four goals in each of the last six games. While the Vegas Golden Knights usually limit the opposition to two or three goals, Caufield has good odds of being involved in one of those tallies for the Habs.

Overall this season, Caufield has a point in 24 of 36 games. This 66% hit rate is well above the implied probability for Tuesday afternoon.

Canadiens vs Golden Knights same-game parlay (SGP)

    Cole Caufield 1+ point

    Golden Knights moneyline

    Over 6.5

The Golden Knights have more or less had their way with the Canadiens since the 2021 playoffs. They’ve won each of the past seven meetings including a 6-2 decision earlier this season. All but one of those seven games have gone over the total with the outlier being a 3-2 overtime game in 2023.

While Caufield and the Canadiens may be able to put up a few goals of their own, we’re taking the Golden Knights here along with the Caufield point in our same-game parlay.

The Montreal Canadiens are set to take on the Vegas Golden Knights in a highly anticipated NHL matchup. The Canadiens will be looking to bounce back from a recent loss, while the Golden Knights will be aiming to continue their winning streak.

In terms of predictions, this game is shaping up to be a close one. Both teams have strong rosters and have shown they can compete with the best in the league. The Canadiens have been solid defensively, while the Golden Knights have been potent on offense.

In terms of picks, it’s a tough call but I’m leaning towards the Golden Knights to come out on top in this one. They have been playing well as of late and have the home ice advantage. However, the Canadiens are a resilient team and could very well pull off the upset.

As for the odds, the Golden Knights are currently favored to win with odds of -150, while the Canadiens are the underdogs with odds of +130.

Overall, this game is shaping up to be a must-watch for hockey fans. It’s sure to be a thrilling and competitive matchup between two talented teams. Stay tuned to see who comes out on top in this exciting showdown.

When Montreal and Las Vegas met for the first time, a Team Canada roster battle between Adin Hill and Samuel Montembeault was one of the subplots. Things didn’t go well for the Canadiens goalie as he allowed five goals on 25 shots through 40 minutes, and wasn’t called upon to play the final 20. In the end, both netminders were named to the 4 Nations Face-Off squad, and they’ve settled into much better play following that announcement at the start of the month.

Montembeault is receiving a major helping hand from the team in front of him digging in on the defensive side. With Alexandre Carrier in the lineup, Martin St-Louis is confident in all three of his pairings, and the reaction from the players so far has been just two goals allowed through the opening two games of the road trip versus strong offensive teams.

The Golden Knights are another of those clubs who can get a goal from any line at any time, but it’s also their team defensive play that’s responsible for a current six-game winning streak. They’re typically scoring just three goals per game, but held opponents to two or fewer goals in nine of the 11 games played in December so far. It might take a lot for both teams to find their offence today with how solid the tactics have become in the respective defensive ends.

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. UCF Knights: How to watch, schedule, live stream info, start time, TV channel

    Who’s Playing

UCF Knights @ Texas Tech Red Raiders

Current Records: UCF 9-2, Texas Tech 9-2

    How To Watch

    What to Know

UCF is preparing for their first Big 12 matchup of the season on Tuesday. They and the Texas Tech Red Raiders will face off at 2:00 p.m. ET at United Supermarkets Arena. Both are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Texas Tech is hoping to do what Jacksonville couldn’t last Saturday: put an end to UCF’s winning streak, which now stands at five games. UCF blew past Jacksonville 86-66. The matchup marked the Knights’ most dominant win of the season so far.

Among those leading the charge was Keyshawn Hall, who went 5 for 7 en route to 21 points plus two steals. Another player making a difference was Jordan Ivy-Curry, who earned 19 points plus three steals.

Even though they won, UCF struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only five offensive rebounds. That’s the fewest offensive rebounds they’ve posted since back in November of 2023.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Texas Tech). They simply couldn’t be stopped last Saturday as they easily beat Lamar 101-57. The Red Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Texas Tech’s victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Anderson, who went 8 for 10 en route to 20 points plus five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrion Williams, who went 7 for 13 en route to 23 points plus seven rebounds and five assists.

UCF pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Texas Tech, they are on a roll lately: they’ve won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. UCF hasn’t had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 80.8 points per game. However, it’s not like Texas Tech struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging 86.3. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Not only did both teams in this Tuesday’s match win their last matches, they also took care of their bettors and covered the spread. Looking ahead, Texas Tech is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 12.5 points. This contest will be their 12th straight as the favorites (so far over this stretch they are 6-5 against the spread).

    Odds

Texas Tech is a big 12.5-point favorite against UCF, according to the latest college basketball odds.

The oddsmakers had a good feel for the line for this one, as the game opened with the Red Raiders as a 13.5-point favorite.

    The over/under is 146.5 points.

  • Can Marshall Tame Army’s Black Knights in Bowl Game Showdown?

Can Marshall Tame Army’s Black Knights in Bowl Game Showdown?

The upcoming bowl game showdown between the Marshall Thundering Herd and the Army Black Knights has fans buzzing with excitement. Both teams have had successful seasons and are looking to end it on a high note with a victory in the bowl game.

One of the key storylines heading into this matchup is whether Marshall’s defense can contain Army’s potent rushing attack. The Black Knights are known for their triple-option offense, which can be a nightmare for opposing defenses to defend. Army ranks second in the nation in rushing yards per game, averaging an impressive 311.7 yards on the ground.

Marshall, on the other hand, boasts a stout defense that has been one of the best in the country this season. The Thundering Herd rank 10th in total defense, allowing just 309.2 yards per game. They will need to be at their best to slow down Army’s rushing attack and force them to become more one-dimensional on offense.

Offensively, Marshall will look to their dynamic quarterback Grant Wells to lead the way. Wells has thrown for 2,587 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, and he will need to continue his strong play against an Army defense that ranks 15th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 18.8 points per game.

On the other side of the ball, Army will rely on their ground game led by quarterback Tyhier Tyler and running back Jakobi Buchanan. Tyler has rushed for 502 yards and three touchdowns, while Buchanan has added 411 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. The Black Knights will look to control the clock and wear down the Marshall defense with their physical rushing attack.

In the end, this matchup could come down to which team can impose their will on the other. Can Marshall’s defense contain Army’s rushing attack, or will the Black Knights be able to control the game with their ground game? It will be a fascinating battle between two strong teams, and fans can expect a competitive and exciting bowl game showdown.

Flames vs Golden Knights Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

Matthew Coronato has become a key contributor to the Calgary Flames as the year has gone on. Look for him to find the score sheet vs. Vegas tonight.

The Calgary Flames exited the holiday break the same way they entered it: with a multi-goal win. However, they’ll have no time to rest on their laurels as they’re right back in action Sunday against a dangerous Vegas Golden Knights team that has been dominant on home soil.

My Flames vs. Golden Knights predictions see one of Calgary’s top young players making his presence felt in what could be a high-scoring game.

Let’s take a closer look with my NHL picks for Sunday, December 29.

    Flames vs Golden Knights prediction

    My Flames pick
Matthew Coronato Over 0.5 points (+120 at BET99)

    My Flames analysis

Matthew Coronato is in good form offensively. He’s picked up six points over his past five games, hitting the scoresheet in all but Saturday’s win over San Jose.

He is skating on a line with Mikael Backlund and Blake Coleman at 5v5. That trio has meshed well together, controlling the run of play against the opposition on most nights. With that line on the ice, the Calgary Flames have generated 72 shot attempts per 60 minutes while conceding 57.

They are spending a lot of time in the offensive zone and generating more shots and opportunities than they’re giving up. That’s generally a good recipe to get results and we’re seeing that. Through 170 minutes together, this line has scored twice as many goals as they’ve given up.

What I like about Coronato, in particular, is that he also skates on the top power play unit. Although the Flames tend to balance their power plays more than most teams, Coronato’s unit tends to get a little more runway each night.

That’s important to note as the Vegas Golden Knights are nothing special on the penalty kill, ranking 18th in PK% over the past 10 games. Ilya Samsonov getting the nod in goal for Vegas is a nice bonus. He owns an .898 SV% on the season and is sporting a GAA just a hair under 3.00.

The Flames should be able to score their fair share against him, giving Coronato a good chance of finding the scoresheet.

Flames vs Golden Knights same-game parlay (SGP)

    Matthew Coronato Over 0.5 points

    Rasmus Andersson Over 1.5 shots

    Over 5.5

Rasmus Andersson is on a shooting heater. He’s recorded multiple shots in eight of his last nine games, attempting about 4.5 per night in that span.

This includes multi-shot performances against high-end teams like the Lightning, Stars, Panthers, and Bruins. It’s not as if he’s inflating his totals against the worst defensive teams in the league.

Averaging nearly 25 minutes per game, Andersson will log more than enough ice to generate a couple of shots.

Vegas has averaged 3.5 goals per game and generated shots at a Top-3 clip over their last 10. The Flames rank Top 10 in both shots and goals over the same period.

With both teams in good form offensively, and starting backups, there should be a healthy amount of goals coming.

The Flames are set to take on the Golden Knights tonight in what is sure to be an exciting matchup. Both teams have been playing well this season, so it’s anyone’s game to win.

The Flames are currently sitting in second place in the Pacific Division, while the Golden Knights are in fourth place. However, the Golden Knights have been on a hot streak lately, winning their last five games in a row.

In terms of predictions, it’s tough to say who will come out on top tonight. The Flames have a strong offense led by Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan, while the Golden Knights have a solid defense anchored by goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

As for picks, I would lean towards the Golden Knights for tonight’s game. They have been playing exceptionally well as of late and have the momentum on their side.

In terms of odds, the Golden Knights are currently favored to win with odds of -150, while the Flames are the underdogs with odds of +130.

Overall, tonight’s game is sure to be a close one and could go either way. It will be interesting to see which team comes out on top in this Western Conference showdown. Good luck to both teams!

Flames’ Projected Lineup & Notes Against Golden Knights – 12.29.24

In a tale of two franchises, the Calgary Flames defeated the Pacific Division’s bottom seed, the San Jose Sharks, on Saturday night and will face off against the division’s top team, the Vegas Golden Knights, within 24 hours on Sunday.

One of the top things to look for in tonight’s contest is whether or not Jonathan Huberdeau can keep the ball rolling and score in his fourth straight contest.

On Saturday, he scored the Flames’ first goal and capped off the night with an empty netter. He’s leading the Calgary attack in December with seven goals and 13 points.

Meanwhile, Nazem Kadri picked up an assist on all three Flames goals against San Jose and has points in 14 out of the last 18 games, with the team going 9-5-4 in those contests.

After picking up a “hometown” win, Dustin Wolf is rotating out tonight in favor of Dan Vladar, getting his first start since Dec. 19, an overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators.

    In his career, Vladar is 1-1-1 against the Golden Knights with a 3.35 GAA and .883 SV%. He’s sporting a 6-6-5 record in 2024-25 with a 3.07 GAA and .886 SV%.

His counterpart at the other end of the ice will be Ilya Samsonov, who is in his first season with Vegas. He’s compiled an 8-3-1 record with a 2.97 GAA and .898 SV%.

Surprisingly, Samsonov has only played the Flames twice in his career. He has a 1-0-1 record, a sparkling 1.76 GAA, and a .927 SV%.

Ahead of Sunday night’s tilt, Vegas has 51 points, the second-best total in the NHL behind the Winnipeg Jets (53 points). They have a goal differential of plus-27 and have a 10-5-3 record on home ice.

Finally, the Flames picked up their fifth road win on Saturday in San Jose to improve to 5-7-4 as visitors. They continue to run a negative goal differential of minus-9, the fifth-worst statistic in the Pacific Division.

The Golden Knights are one reason for that lopsided total, shutting out Calgary in their first meeting on Oct. 28 at T-Mobile Arena, 5-0.
