    Golden Knights Place Forward On Injured Reserve; Activate Defenseman From LTIR


    The Vegas Golden Knights have placed forward Nicolas Roy on the injured reserve and have activated defenseman Ben Hutton from the long-term injury reserve.

    Roy has been out of the lineup since Dec. 15 with an upper-body injury and has now been placed on the IR, retroactive to Dec. 16, allowing him to return at any time.

    The 27-year-old has been a Swiss army knife for the Golden Knights, playing up and down the lineup and on the wing and at centre. His versatility has allowed them to manage some of the prior injury issues they have dealt with.

    Hutton has been activated from the LTIR after he suffered an upper-body injury against the Washington Capitals on Nov. 17. The 31-year-old has been serving as the team’s eighth defenseman as a depth piece replacing injured defenders. His ability to seamlessly rejoin the lineup when called upon is a valued asset with the Golden Knights and something that has been praised many times by his teammates and the coaching staff.

    With all eight Golden Knight defenders healthy at the moment, the Golden Knights have the luxury of depth that very few teams have in the NHL.

    The Vegas Golden Knights have announced that they have placed forward Max Pacioretty on injured reserve and have activated defenseman Alec Martinez from long-term injured reserve.

    Pacioretty, who has been dealing with an upper-body injury, is expected to be out for an extended period of time as he recovers. The team is hopeful that he will be able to return to action soon, but they will not rush his recovery process.

    Golden Knights Make Three Roster Moves


    The Golden Knights have made a trio of roster moves heading into tonight’s game against San Jose.  SinBin.Vegas relays (Twitter link) that center Nicolas Roy has been placed on injured reserve, opening a roster spot for defenseman Ben Hutton to be activated off LTIR.  Meanwhile, forward Tanner Laczynski has been recalled once more after being papered down over the holiday break.

    Roy last played on December 15th where he suffered an upper-body injury.  The 27-year-old got off to a hot start to his season with a dozen points in his first 17 games but has been quiet since then, being limited to just one point – a goal – since then, spanning 14 games.  Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Sun adds (Twitter link) that Roy’s IR placement is retroactive to December 16th, meaning he has already served the required seven days so he’ll be able to be activated as soon as he’s cleared to return.

    As for Hutton, he has been limited to just five games this season and has missed more than a month with an upper-body issue of his own which landed him on LTIR when Vegas needed to open up a bit of short-term cap flexibility.  The 31-year-old has been held off the scoresheet in his five outings while averaging just over 11 minutes a night.  With now eight healthy blueliners on the roster, Hutton may be waiting a little while before seeing game action.

    Laczynski, meanwhile, was briefly up with Vegas before the break, getting into three games.  He was held without a point in those in just under nine minutes a night of playing time.  However, the 27-year-old has been productive with the Silver Knights, tallying six goals and 13 assists in 17 AHL games.  He’s in the first season of a two-year, one-way deal after spending the previous four seasons with Philadelphia.



    The Vegas Golden Knights have made three key roster moves in an effort to bolster their lineup for the upcoming season.

    First, the team has acquired defenseman Alec Martinez from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for two second-round draft picks. Martinez brings a wealth of experience and defensive prowess to the Golden Knights’ blue line, making them even stronger on the back end.

    Following the festive period, Team Teal will look for star center Macklin Celebrini to continue his rise and dominance in the Bay Area. There have been many conversations around the emerging Canadian star, and the Sharks know he’ll be a cornerstone of the organization for many years. If he can continue his development and strong play at the NHL level, the Sharks can continue to address other concerns and leave Celebrini alone for now.

    William Eklund is still day-to-day, and we’re unsure of his status ahead of the clash with the Golden Knights. He’s another piece of the puzzle for the San Jose Sharks future. We know the skill level of the Swedish winger, but there is no denying that the Swede hasn’t been at his best to this point in the season. As the Sharks look for more from Eklund, he’ll be on the shelf looking to cope with his injury.
