  • Virat Kohli’s Lunch Menu During Ranji Trophy Return Revealed: “Ordered From Local…”

Indian cricket team star batter Virat Kohli returned to domestic cricket after 12 years as Delhi face Railways in their Ranji Trophy encounter on Thursday. Kohli’s Ranji return sparked massive interest among fans who attended the match in massive numbers. The fans were outside the ground from last night and Virat’s every movement resulted in massive cheer from the crowd. Journalist Rohit Juglan interviewed the chef Sanjay Jha during the game and he revealed that Kohli will eat chilli paneer from the local DDCA canteen during the lunch break. “In lunchtime Virat Kohli will have chilli paneer ordered from the local DDCA canteen,” his post on X (formerly Twitter) read.

The unmatched aura of Virat Kohli was on full display in and around the Arun Jaitley Stadium during the Ranji Trophy fixture between Delhi and Railways as thousands of fans queued up to watch the superstar in an unprecedented rush that forced administrators to make additional last-minute arrangements.

The DDCA (Delhi and Districts Cricket Association) had projected a crowd of around 10,000 for Kohli’s homecoming, which is unheard for a Ranji Trophy game. But such was his magnetic pull that even those lofty calculations went for a toss.

Long before the start of play at 9.30am local time, the 36-year-old Kohli’s loyal band of supporters were jostling to enter the stadium where entry is free for domestic matches.

At first, the DDCA opened the roughly 6,000-capacity ‘Gautam Gambhir Stand’ for spectators but sensing that the crowd situation could go out of hand, the officials were forced to open the ‘Bishan Singh Bedi Stand’ which can accommodate around 11,000 people.

“I have never seen something like this in Ranji Trophy ever. Even in my playing days, there was hardly anyone who made the effort to watch domestic cricket. It is just because of one man,” a former India player present at the ground told PTI.

What added to the commotion was the movement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cavalcade past the ground at the same time.

“I have been involved in Delhi cricket for more than 30 years but I have not witnessed such scenes for a Ranji Trophy game. It just shows the Kohli’s popularity is unmatched,” an overwhelmed DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma told PTI.

“What made it more challenging was that fans entering the stadium coincided with the VIP movement of PM Modi on the outside roads and as part of his strict security protocol and to maintain order, we were instructed by the police to open another stand for the public,” he revealed.

  • Delhi vs Railways, Ranji Trophy Live Score: Fan runs in to touch Kohli’s feet

Delhi vs Railways, Ranji Trophy Live Score: The presence of Virat Kohli has significantly enhanced the stature of this Ranji Trophy fixture while providing a much-needed boost to Delhi’s team morale as they aim to conclude their underwhelming season positively in their final group D encounter against Railways.

Railways, with 17 points from six matches, maintain a realistic chance of advancing to the knockout phase if they secure a victory with bonus points against Delhi, which would elevate their total to 24.

Delhi’s campaign, yielding 14 points from six matches, remains theoretically alive, although the anticipated crowd of 10,000 spectators appears more interested in the spectacle than the outcome.

In the qualification race, Tamil Nadu (25 points from six matches), Chandigarh (19 from six matches), and Saurashtra (18 from six matches) hold more advantageous positions compared to both Delhi and Railways.

If Delhi fields first, attendance will likely remain under 3000, but should Delhi bat first, spectators would rather see Sanat Sangwan or Arpit Rana dismissed swiftly to witness Kohli at the crease.

The anticipation surrounding Kohli’s return has been so significant that the Arun Jaitley Stadium has attracted broadcasters preparing for the live stream, marking the celebrated batsman’s first Ranji appearance after a gap of 12 years and three months.

Delhi vs Railways, Ranji Trophy Live Score: Fan runs in to touch Kohli’s feet

In a bizarre turn of events during the Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy match, a fan managed to break past security and run onto the field to touch Delhi captain Virat Kohli’s feet. The incident happened during a break in play and caused a momentary disruption before the fan was escorted off the field by security personnel.

Despite the unexpected interruption, the match resumed without any further incidents. Delhi and Railways continued to battle it out on the field, with both teams vying for a crucial victory in the prestigious domestic tournament.

The incident highlights the passionate and sometimes overzealous nature of cricket fans in India, especially when it comes to their favorite players like Virat Kohli. While the fan’s actions were clearly inappropriate, it also underscores the immense popularity and adulation that players like Kohli command in the country.

  • Virat Kohli’s ‘Captaincy Gesture’ Wins Hearts Ahead Of Ranji Trophy Return

The talismanic Indian batter Virat Kohli is all set to make a return to Ranji Trophy, for the first time in over 12 years, this Thursday. Kohli, who last featured for Delhi in the domestic white-ball event in 2012, is a part of the Delhi team for the Ranji Trophy match against Railways. A couple of days before the start of the fixture, Kohli was spotted rubbing shoulders with his Delhi teammates in a practice session at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Kohli hit the ground in Kotla on Tuesday morning, as several videos and pictures surfaced on social media. He had already informed the Delhi and District State Association of his intent to train with the boys on Tuesday.

“Kohli informed head coach Sarandeep Singh about his willingness to train with the team. It will be a great experience for the Delhi players if they get to spend so much time with him,” a DDCA official told the Times of India on Monday.

It has also been reported that Kohli was given the offer of leading the Delhi team in the match against Railways but he declined. With Rishabh Pant not part of the fixture either, Ayush Badoni is set to continue leading the side.

“Pant has been playing first-class cricket since Duleep Trophy in September. He has played 12 first-class matches in the last three-and-a-half months. With the Champions Trophy around the corner, he has been advised rest in order to get ready for the white-ball season,” an official said.

Kohli was part of the team when he featured last in a domestic red-ball competition for Delhi, against Uttar Pradesh at Ghaziabad’s Mohan Nagar in 2012.

“Obviously, it is a great experience for our junior players as they will get to share the dressing room with Virat. If you look at our team, only Navdeep Saini has played alongside Virat in the IPL and for India. In fact, none of the players in the team have played with Virat in the Ranji Trophy. They can learn a lot by watching him,” DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma told PTI.

Asked about the security arrangements for the game, Sharma said, “We know Virat’s presence raises the profile of the match. Normally, we have 10 to 12 private security personnel for a regular Ranji match, but we will definitely increase security so that Virat can train without any disturbance.”

Despite the return of Kohli, the Delhi vs Railways match will remain free for spectators, with the DDCA also opening three stands at the Ambedkar Stadium End. Kohli didn’t feature in Delhi’s previous match due to neck sprain.

  • Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli’s Aggressive Act As Sam Konstas Pokes India Pacer Again. Wach

Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli’s Aggressive Act As Sam Konstas Pokes India Pacer Again. Wach

Australia’s young opening batter Sam Konstas has time and again shown his intent to not limit his talking to his bat. In the last over before stumps on Day 1 of the 5th Test between Australia and India on Friday, Konstas unnecessarily riled up Jasprit Bumrah over a matter that didn’t even involve him. Right after the incident, Bumrah removed Konstas’ opening partner Usman Khawaja at the striker’s end, prompting an act of aggression from the Indian pacer, prompting Virat Kohli to join in as well.

It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the day when Khawaja took a little time to get ready at the striker’s end, resulting in Bumrah’s rhythm getting disturbed. However, the non-striker Konstas involved himself in the incident by uttering a few words to Bumrah, riling up the pacer.

On the next delivery, Bumrah got Khawaja caught in slips, thanks to KL Rahul‘s brilliant effort.

After taking the wicket, Bumrah charged at Konstas at the non-striker’s end as a part of his celebratory act. Kohli, who is known to wear his heart on his sleeve, also came running from the slip cordon and seemingly charged at Konstas.

Earlier, India disappointed with the bat yet again, putting a total of 185 runs on the board, that too after stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah contributed 22 runs with the bat. Rishabh Pant was the top-scoring batter for India on the opening day, scoring 40 runs before giving-in to his attacking instincts yet again. Kohli, on the other hand, disappointed again by scoring just 17 runs before getting dismissed to the outside off delivery again.

India had benched Rohit Sharma in the match over poor form but his replacement Shubman Gill failed to make his start count as well, scoring just 20 runs before getting dismissed by spinner Nathan Lyon.

Bumrah’s solitary wicket before stumps on Day 1 set the desired platform for India ahead of Day 2. India would hope for a few quick wickets early on Day 2.

On the other hand, Indian captain Virat Kohli has also come to Bumrah’s defense, slamming Konstas for his aggressive questioning and standing up for his teammate. Kohli’s fiery attitude and protective nature towards his players have once again come to the forefront, showing his unwavering support for the Indian team.

Drama at SCG! Nervous Rohit Sharma jumps out of his seat for Virat Kohli’s golden duck call

NEW DELHI: Just as the MCG Test had its share of drama, the SCG Test delivered a moment of high tension when a contentious umpiring decision went in favour of India’s star batter Virat Kohli. The drama unfolded in the 8th over when Kohli survived a golden duck on his very first delivery.
After dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal earlier in the over, Scott Boland nearly claimed his second wicket with a well-directed delivery that found Kohli’s outside edge. The ball flew toward second slip, where Steve Smith dived to his right, scooping it toward Marnus Labuschagne at gully.
However, replays revealed the ball had brushed the ground after rolling off Smith’s fingers—a detail spotted by TV umpire Joel Wilson, who ruled Kohli not out.

Gautam Gambhir’s serious one-on-one chat with Jasprit Bumrah

The Indian dressing room watched the drama unfold on the big screen, with Rohit Sharma, who had been excluded from the playing XI, visibly tense.
Once the decision came through in Kohli’s favour, Rohit finally sat back, appearing more at ease.

Rohit scored 31 runs in five innings across three Tests.
Last year Rohit guided India to a much-awaited T20 World Cup title.

The Sydney Cricket Ground witnessed some unexpected drama during the first match of the India vs Australia series as Rohit Sharma was caught on camera jumping out of his seat in shock when Virat Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck.

The tension was palpable as Kohli walked out to bat, but it all came crashing down when he was dismissed for a duck on the very first ball he faced. Sharma, who was sitting in the stands, couldn’t contain his nerves and leapt out of his seat in disbelief.

The incident quickly went viral on social media, with fans and commentators alike sharing their reactions to Sharma’s reaction. Some found it amusing, while others sympathized with the pressure that comes with being a top cricketer.

Despite the early setback, India managed to bounce back and put up a strong fight against the Australian team. However, the drama at SCG will surely be remembered as one of the most memorable moments of the series.

Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Watch: How Sam Konstas reacted after Virat Kohli’s wicket at the MCG | Cricket News

Watch: How Sam Konstas reacted after Virat Kohli's wicket at the MCG

NEW DELHI: Australia opener Sam Konstas may have declared that Virat Kohli is his favourite player in the world and given the Indian batting superstar the clean chit over his shoulder-bump, but things are different when it comes to on field action.
The first day of the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was just not about Konstas’ dazzling debut, but also his on-field confrontation with Kohli.

Sam Konstas on Kohli altercation: ‘I was doing my gloves, he accidentally bumped me’

Virat was fined 20 percent of his match fees and given a demerit point by the ICC for a Level One breach of the ICC code of conduct as a result of that incident.
However, the 19-year-old home debutant downplayed the incident, claiming the Indian superstar had bumped into him by accident.
In the Indian first innings, Virat batted patiently in his 86-ball stay at the crease accumulating 36 runs and looked totally focused to not to fall to the trap outside the off-stump.
There were many instances when Virat left deliveries bowled by Mitchell Starc outside the off-stump and giving the Aussie pacer a smile.
But Virat ran out of patience after his mix-up with Yashasvi Jaiswal that resulted in the Indian opener’s run out for 82.
The Aussies finally had the last laugh as Kohli edged a Scot Bland delivery for wicket-keeper Alex Carey to take a simple catch again losing the game of patience.
And now a video is viral on the internet that shows how Konstas celebrated after the dismissal of the former Indian captain.
In the video, Konstas is showing asking the MCG crowd to cheer on the dismissal, much like Virat does when he asks the crowd to cheer the Indian bowlers.

The Kohli-Konstas on-field rivalry is emblematic of cricket’s beauty-where established stars and young challengers push each other to new heights. This contest isn’t just about skill; it’s a mental battle that keeps fans on the edge of their seats.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy clash between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground took an interesting turn when Virat Kohli was dismissed by Sam Konstas. The Australian fast bowler’s reaction to getting the prized wicket was caught on camera and it has been making rounds on social media.

In the video, Sam Konstas can be seen celebrating Kohli’s wicket with great enthusiasm, pumping his fist and letting out a loud roar. The intensity and emotion in Konstas’ reaction truly highlight the significance of getting a player like Kohli out, especially in a high-stakes series like the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Fans of both teams have been sharing the video and discussing Konstas’ passionate celebration. Some have praised his competitive spirit and determination, while others have criticized him for being too aggressive. Regardless of where you stand, there’s no denying that Kohli’s wicket was a crucial moment in the match and Konstas’ reaction captured the intensity of the moment perfectly.

As the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series continues to unfold, it will be interesting to see how the rivalry between India and Australia shapes up and whether we will witness more such moments of high drama and emotion on the cricket field. Stay tuned for more updates and analysis on this epic clash between two cricketing giants.

  • Australia vs India, Boxing Day Test: Sunil Gavaskar defends Virat Kohli’s fine: Can’t hang a man for picking a pocket

Australia vs India, Boxing Day Test: Sunil Gavaskar defends Virat Kohli’s fine: Can’t hang a man for picking a pocket

Legendary Sunil Gavaskar reiterated his stance against Virat Kohli shouldering Sam Konstas on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test, but said there were no favours done to the superstar cricketer in terms of the fine that was handed to him by the International Cricket Committee. Gavaskar quoted instances of players getting similar sanctions for physical contact on the field, stressing that protocols were followed in Kohli’s case as well.

Speculation was rife that Virat Kohli would be handed a one-match ban for shouldering 19-year-old Sam Konstas at the MCG in a heated on-field moment. However, Kohli escaped a suspension and was fined 20 percent of his match fee. Match referee Andy Pycroft charged him for Level 1 offence, the lowest level of punishment for physical contact on the field.

A section of the Australian media, however, hit out against the governing body, accusing it of being lenient towards Virat Kohli. Former cricketers Ricky Ponting and Mark Waugh lashed out at the authorities for not handing Kohli a harsher punishment for the Boxing Day act.

“Yes, you would say that the punishment may be light, considering the experience that he has had. But, that’s the maximum punishment that is decided by the ICC, He has not been done any favour,” Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports.

“If, for example, the fine was 10 percent, then you could have said ‘ah, he has been done a favour’. But, the fine for a Level 1 offence is maximum a 20 percent. I am not 100 percent on that, but I am given to understand that there is one demerit point and a fine. That’s the maximum allowed, that’s what has been levied on him.

“No special favours have been done to him. You can’t hang a man for picking someone’s picket. That’s what the Australian media is asking for.

“The Australian media think they got away because he is Kohli. But, that is not the thing,” he added.

Virat Kohli was handed a demerit point for the offence. It was the former captain’s first ICC sanction since 2019.

    GAVASKAR CITES PREVIOUS INSTANCES

Gavaskar highlighted how Ireland fast bowler Josh Little and Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah received similar fines for making deliberate physical contact with opposition players in the last 12 months.

While Josh Little was handed a 15 per cent match fee for making contact with Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza in a T20I game in Harare last year, Bumrah was just reprimanded for physical contact with England batter Ollie Pope in a Test match earlier this year.

“I know in this particular year, there have been four such incidents in which there have been fines. Last December, Ireland bowler Josh Little was fined 15 percent for a physical contact with a batter, a Level 1 offence. In that game, Andy Pycrot was the match referee.

“Jasprit Bumrah was also reprimanded for Lavel 1 physical contact for physical contact with England’s Ollie Pope,” Gavsakar said.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

The recent controversy surrounding Virat Kohli’s fine for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the Boxing Day Test between Australia and India has sparked a heated debate among cricket fans. While many have criticized Kohli for his actions, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has come to his defense.

In a recent interview, Gavaskar stated, “I think the fine imposed on Virat Kohli was a bit harsh. Yes, he may have crossed the line with his behavior on the field, but let’s not forget that he is a passionate and competitive player who always gives his 100% on the field. Sometimes emotions can get the better of us, and I believe that we shouldn’t be too quick to judge or condemn someone for a momentary lapse in judgment.”

Gavaskar went on to compare Kohli’s actions to that of picking a pocket, stating, “We can’t hang a man for picking a pocket. Similarly, we shouldn’t crucify Kohli for a minor infraction during a high-pressure Test match. Let’s not forget that he is one of the best cricketers in the world and has done a lot for Indian cricket. We should focus on supporting him and helping him learn from this experience.”

It’s clear that opinions are divided on this issue, but Gavaskar’s words serve as a reminder that athletes are human too and can make mistakes. Let’s hope that Kohli can learn from this incident and continue to lead the Indian team with the same passion and determination that has made him a cricketing legend.
